Following an bi-annual eye test, my prescription had changed slightly, optometrist Simon Cabell did and excellent job as always, followed by a fitting for a new pair of specs. Again excellent service from knowledgeable assistants with modern up-to-date equipment and knowledge. A week later and a few £'s lighter I am delighted to say things are much clearer for reading and computer work.

I’ve been going to Rawlings for almost 20 years. My family started going there when my brother had to have an eye test and was referred to the eye hospital. The eye doctor said that the test carried out at Rawlings was incredibly accurate and one of the best he’d seen. I’ve actually moved away now so don’t have a local branch but will travel to go back for appointments because I know that the test will be done properly. They really care about the details. My eye sight with my glasses on is very sharp, probably better than most who don’t need glasses. I usually see Simon at the Hedge End branch. He’s very thorough and makes sure you get the exact prescription. Cannot recommend enough. I’ve accompanied friends to appointments at Specsavers and other large chains and the testing just isn’t as thorough. CLL 18/6/22

I have been using Rawlings in Hedge End for a couple of decades for spectacles and contact lenses. The eye tests are always thorough and make use of improvements in technology. Simon, who has been the optometrist for many of those years has always been willing to explain any findings or answer any of my questions, especially when I developed cataracts some years ago. It was Simon who wrote the referral letters to my Doctors which eventually lead to the successful operations. My recent eye test during the current “lockdown” was obviously a little different from previous visits but all the staff were courteous and helpful. This visit I expressed the wish to purchase a pair of “computer” spectacles, with different lenses to my current varifocal spectacles, to make the working from home on my home PC less tiring, Janet then spent a fair time helping me choose appropriate lenses and frames. With their years of experience I feel confident in continuing to use Rawlings at Hedge End.

I have been having trouble this year with my eyes. During the Spring Lockdown, in April, I had a cyst on my eye. I rang the Hedge End Office and sent photos of my eye. the response from your staff was excellent. I received a prescription which I collected from Chandlers Ford branch for cream and antibiotics and heat pad. They all worked wonders and it cleared up. However I did have another problem a week or two ago, so I called at Hedge End Branch to see what I should do. I was given an appointment with Simon Cabell later the same day, and he referred me to the Eye Hospital for tests. I visited them last Friday 8th Jan, and was diagnosed with Dry Eye. I have now received the prescribed drops, which seem to be starting to work. I have to say that the service was exemplory and Simon Cabell was very thorough . Thank you to all of you for your excellent service.

I attended Rawlings for an eye test as I have been experiencing headaches. Although an initial diagnosis had been made, I wanted to check that eye strain wasn't causing the headaches. Mr Cabell and the other staff were very professional and inspected my eyes thoroughly with the latest equipment. I had a "Minor Eye Problem" appointment at Rawlings as advised by my GP. Mr Cabell discovered retinal problems and arranged for me to go directly to SGH Eye Unit.
