During my eye laser surgery consultation at the Truro clinic, I was taken care of by the wonderful Sam & Paul, they were incredibly knowledgeable and answered all my questions, and shared just the enthusiasm that I needed! Very friendly and time efficient, I couldn’t recommend them enough!! And I am a right candidate for the surgery!! Made my day, thank you again to Sam & Paul again for taking such a lovely approach and being so caring!😊

Had a consultation last week for lens replacement surgery. Sam and Paul were very professional and kind. They were super thorough in their examinations and answered all my questions. At no point did I feel rushed or under pressure to make a decision. I cannot remember the last time I had such a positive experience in a medical environment. These guys are the best, thank you very much!

Impressive customer service and set up. I had my consultation in April 2022. Unfortunately, it turned out that I was unsuitable for the surgery at my current age, but I was impressed with the efficiency of service, the friendly and knowledgable staff, and the wealth of information I was provided with regarding the potential proceedures and risks. I really felt as if this company puts the patients first. I willbe back once my eyesight has degraded enough!

Wow…how can I put this in to words?? I’ve wanted to have my eyes lasered for years, but have always put it off, thinking “my sight is too bad for it to be done” “I can’t spend so much money on that” “it’s all too far away” “my astigmatism will mean I can’t” … but when I saw an advert for Optical Express…with a free consultation, I thought, why not…just to see whether it was possible, AND it was local, just in Truro. What did I have to lose…so I filled in a form, and literally within the hour I had a call and had booked in for my consultation on the coming Saturday. I went along, armed with questions and not really knowing what to expect. The people who greeted me were really friendly and welcoming. I soon was in full discussion about how everything worked, what I was to expect from today’s appointment. I had several different eye exams on the machines, and was amazed at how accurately they were reading my eyes. Once all the tests had been completed I went through to the Optometrist Paul. One of the friendliest and nicest guys, he made me feel welcome and was really knowledgeable answering any questions I had with ease and in a really kind manner. Once I was all done with Paul I went back through to the waiting area. I was then taken through to discuss prices. At this point I couldn’t see clearly due to the different dyes placed in my eyes to assess suitability. So Andy went through everything with me. He was kind, gave me all the information I needed, explained the next steps and had a really gentle friendly manner. No pushing at all. I wanted to go away and think about it, I hadn’t expected to be suitable, let alone for the normal Lasik procedure. I was excited and the fees were not extortionate! So after some consideration - I decided I wanted to go ahead and do it! The lady from reception called me, as promised, on the Monday afternoon. I excitedly told her I wanted to go ahead, and she booked me in for surgery. 3 weeks away! I had the clinical discussion the following week, and the lady was super kind and answered all of my questions! Just over 2 weeks to go!! On the lead up to the surgery, I had many more questions and worries, multiple times I wanted to ring the store! The downside of Truro is that it’s only open a few days a week, however that didn’t really affect anything, as I was able to speak to the Plymouth store. Which I did on multiple occasions! Sarah from the Plymouth store was literally my favourite person throughout this experience! She reassured me when I needed it, answered the most silliest of questions and was so kind and friendly throughout the whole process. I was never at any point made to feel like a burden to her! I was pretty needy! I was nervous, but she happily and cheerfully got me ready for the big day. The day of surgery arrived…for this I had to go to Exeter, once again i was welcomed in by really friendly ladies on the main desk. The whole visit from start to finish was no longer than one and a half hours! I had further scans on my eyes, spoke to Luca and many others who were all part of my journey and would be assisting in the surgery and getting me ready for it. The surgery was over within minutes. Although not the most comfortable experience, the instant difference was amazing. I was escorted to another room where the ladies here talked through my aftercare, made sure I was happy, and then I was allowed to go. I went back the following morning, and to wake up and be able to see, super clearly, wow!! Within less than 24 hours!! I am now writing this review one day post op…I can honestly say, Optical Express, at every point along this journey, have been absolutely amazing! They have been professional, friendly, courteous, kind, knowledgeable and absolutely have changed my life!! The only question I have left to ask is…”why have I waited this long”. Thank you to all of the team who have been part of my journey. Look forward to seeing you at my first aftercare appointment

What an awesome and amazing experience I had at the Truro Branch.. If you like gadgets and machines this place has them all.. I was made to feel comfortable as soon as I get in there the staff are very friendly and professional.. They never once tried to sell me anything.. I highly recommend.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely staff and absolutely no pressure to go ahead with any treatments after my truly free thorough eye examination. In fact, I wasn’t a suitable candidate as treatments on offer would not improve things - they most certainly didn’t try to sell me a treatment that would offer little or not benefit - for my particular eyes I will have to continue with spectacles, but at least I now know that there aren’t other options available.

This is a fantastic place to start the journey of Laser Eye Surgery. On arrival, I was welcomed by reception staff, 2 lovery ladies. who made me feel very welcome. After a brief chat, I was then given a few eye tests, ready to see the optician, and a few more tests. Painless eye drops were given and throughout the visit, every question was answered. I would add that the process was so professional throughout, will lots of humour. If you are considering laser treatment, I would recommend starting here. So after having my eyes checked for surgery options in my local branch Truro. I was told that lens replacement surgery would be what I needed. I made my appointment to have it done in Bristol as my daughter lives near by. I had the surgery last Friday the 27th Sept which was my birthday and I can honestly say it's the best thing ever. Everyone was so helpful in both branches. I was put at ease from beginning to end. I have now had my 1st week check back in Truro and all is going well. Thank you all.

All the staff in the Truro branch are very polite and helpful. Paul Swansbury, the Optometrist, deserves particular praise as he is excellent. He is very knowledgable and explains everything to you. It has been excellent with me during my post op recovery period after my Lens Replacement surgery. Keep up the good work guys. I hope you get to open more days of the week. Truro needs a service like yours. It's a shame you couldn't provide the surgery as well.

From my very first contact with Optical Express, my experience has been amazing, relaxing, very friendly and a few laughs on the way. When we stepped into your Truro offices, Charlotte made us a lovely cup of tea along with a biscuit. Then Charlotte took us through to the office to discuss the best way forward for me, explained everything in detail, answered all our questions, eased our concerns and is so professional in her manner. Then she took me through to meet Paul, Paul is the optometrist based at Truro, before beginning my assessment he answered my questions, he explained exactly what would be accor and what to expect on the date of surgery in Exeter. Paul concluded that from my examination that I would required Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE, also known as Lens Replacement) in both eyes. An appointment was made to meet the surgeon face to face at their Exeter offices, full eye checks where made, again, all members of staff friendly, helpful. The surgeon is so thorough, and puts all your concerns at ease. The day of my appointment came, with its concerns, fear of the unknown, was soon put at rest. Eyes check again, medical questions asked and answered again. The clinic in Exeter is so clean, comfortable, and most importantly friendly, helpful, polite. Then my surgery/ procedure time came, again medical questions asked, met with the surgeon again. I was then taken through for my surgery/procedure, mildly sedated, introduced to other members of the team, CDs playing, staff chatting amongst themselves, including me at times. The procedure for me took 20 mins per eye, yes there was a slight discomfort, but no real pain, and a weird visual experience during the procedure like a kaleidoscope of shapes. After having final checks the following day, given all the right antibiotic eye treatment for the 3 weeks required, told to wear clear protective. eye patches while sleeping only for the first seven nights, to stop you from rubbing your eyes while you slept., I was given the all clear to go home, and told surprisingly told that I could drive. I've had my first and second check ups given the all clear no dun intended, final check up in 2 months. No more glasses or switching between glasses to see or read, no more contact lens, no more dry eyes, I can wear normal sunglasses, crash helmet with no need from glasses or contact lens, I can again see vibrant colours again, and my partners beautiful blue eyes. After my surgery /procedure the first thing my partner said was " there's those blue eyes I remembered 34 yrs ago so clear again". Would like to say a huge special thank you to Truro's :- Charlotte, Lyndsey, Ann and Paul. And Exeter's:- Alan and all other members of staff.
