Binnington & Thurling is without doubt the best opticians in York offering exceptional standards of care. Over the last few years I have had problems with my eyes and the care and attention I’ve received from them has been outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, their advice was invaluable and customer service first class. During these difficult Covid-19 times, they have worked hard to create a safe and welcoming environment for all their customers. If you are looking for an optician in York, then look no further!

I have just had a new set of multi focal contact lenses and a pair of glasses prescribed by Binnington & Thurling and am absolutely delighted with them. I have a complex prescription and was once told by a different optician (a large chain) that I have “difficult eyes”, but this poses no problem for Binnington & Thurlington as both of the optometrists I have seen are very highly skilled and offer a personalised service to meet individual needs. The lady who dispensed the glasses gave me great advice about all the options available (e.g to thin the lens) and helped me to pick some lovely frames, so for the first time in my life I have a pair of glasses which I am happy to wear! The whole team at Binnington & Thurling are very helpful, and even during COVID the receptionist always managed to find me an appointment time that fitted with my work commitments. The service they provide is second to none, and they really care about getting the right results for you. If you feel that your eyes deserve the best, then this is definitively the place to come.

Friendly, professional high quality service. I have had help and advice as my needs have changed over the years. I wear contact lenses but have back up spectacles. I previously used a chain high street optician, who wanted me to have separate appointments for each. I changed to Binnington and Thurling as I wanted all my optical needs assessed together. I am very pleased that I made the change as I now have a complete optical check up at one appointment.

Consistently excellent I have been attending B&T for over twenty years now, initially using contact lenses and then only glasses, so I don't go quite as often now as I used to. However, I have always found all staff to be friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Having an eye test with either Mr Binnington or Mr Thurling is always such a reassuring and relaxing experience that I've often felt it was as calming as an appointment at a spa! :-)

This is a fantastic place. Personal touch, staff who bend over backwards to help etc. This week the optician changed his lunchtime and three receptionists called me back to try and fix up a cancellation appt. Would go here over a national company any day.

I have been using this opticians for over 15 years. Always a thorough annual eye exam, using the latest technology whichever optician I see. Fully explain any issues and have managed to fit me in at short notice if a problem arises. Far superior in service and knowledge than the high street chains. My husband used to use these and after multiple issues with contact lens comfort he was astounded at the difference in the thoroughness of the eye test and was immediately given a new pair of comfortable lenses.

I booked an appointment online, which was incredibly straightforward and had my eye test on Saturday. By Wednesday my glasses were ready. An absolutely outstanding service. Every member of staff was professional, efficient and very friendly. The best customer service I have received, so many places could learn alot from them!

Excellent service, felt very cared for. Staff were supportive and encouraging. They took their time to help me pick the right frames for my face and budget. All the staff were caring and answered my questions with patience. Particularly appreciated the optician taking me to the front of the store to look outside and see the difference between my old lenses and new. I'm short-sighted so it was more useful then staying just in the examination room. As an added bonus, I was pleasantly surprised to receive cleaning fluid along with a cloth and good quality case for my glasses.

My Optician was marvellous. He took the time to explain the drastic change in my eye site. Which gave me great relief as I was seriously concerned there was a underlying issue. He was kind to me in how much time I needed to take to mobilise. The receptionists were nice. As was the lady that fitted my glasses.
