I first found Sam in 2017 when at that time I was struggling with two major issues. Being overweight my whole life had led me into a vicious anxiety cycle of binge eating that led to even more anxiety/depression. I also was suffering from post natal depression so in general my mental health was not in a good place. I was prescribed medication by my doctor but that didn't sit well with me so I wanted to try a more holistic approach to help with my anxiety/depression/binge eating. Thankfully I found Sam! ❤
From the very first MINUTE of my initial consultation I found myself at ease as Sam explained what my brain / body was fighting against with anxiety. She explained to me in a very easy to understand way what hypnosis was and how it could help me. I always believed hypnosis to be all "Paul McKenna" magic but it is nothing like that.
Sam is quite simply fantastic. I had 6 sessions in total to help me with anxiety and I also chose to have sessions to undergo a virtual gastric band operation to help me control my binge eating. All were a success and I have continued to use the hypnosis recording most weeks for the past 4 years.
I thoroughly recommend Sam. She has a caring nature and makes me feel seen, understood and safe.

I have tried several types of therapy and counselling in the past and found talking about experience and emotion extremely difficult, often leaving me in a worse head space with a lot more emotions at the forefront of my mind.
I had my first session with Sam a few weeks ago and could not believe the difference in the way I felt, my outlook on situations, my sense of confidence and understanding towards situations, relationships and individuals that I have struggled with for years.
Sam creates such a welcoming space and not only works with you to overcome issues/trauma you have been struggling with but also educates you on how the brain works and why we respond to situations the way we do.

I would highly recommend Sam Luxford. Sam has helped me get through trauma and anxieties. I began therapy not knowing if it would work, it has totally worked and helped me be more confident in myself and Be focused again. For many years my vision was cloudy due to fear and anxiety that pulled me back. After 4 sessions with Sam I can honestly say my anxiety and fear has more than halved. Sam has helped me with my phobias of needles and medical situations. Through an approach using hypnotherapy and psychotherapy she helped me prepare for an operation and decreased my anxiety around medical procedures and hospital admissions. Sam’s background as a nurse has also been particularly beneficial as she has known a lot about the situations that used to trigger my anxiety. I contacted Sam for help during my pregnancy. I had Hyperemesis Gravidarum and also a phobia of medical procedures. Sam was amazing and her treatment really helped me learn to cope with the sickness and anxiety during my pregnancy and also prepared me for my cesarian. I recommend her services to anyone struggling and not sure where to turn.

Sam recently delivered a session for a group of pupils in the secondary school where I work. The session focused on: giving young people a basic understanding of neuroscience to enable them to better understand the causes and effects of their emotions; explaining the process of sleep and its place in wellbeing and learning; breathing techniques for moments of anxiety; practising thinking techniques (the Swish) to enable them to focus positively on upcoming events they might otherwise have worried about, and a relaxation.
Sam's kindness and compassion came across right from the beginning of the session and the pupils took to her immediately, commenting later that her calm delivery helped them to understand what she was telling them. The session was pitched at the right level for them and tailored to their interests and concerns - pupils noted that they liked the solution-focused approach to problems and the fact that she spoke a out situations which occurred every day. Sam also created a safe and comfortable environment for the class to ask questions and practise the techniques she was teaching.
The informative element of the session went down really well with the group. They commented that they found it interesting to learn about the science behind what they thought and how they felt, especially the effects of adrenaline and the impact of anxiety and worry. They also enjoyed seeing the connections between mental health, sleep and the REM cycle, and the fact that the session taught practical coping mechanisms.
The session was empowering for our young people who, within a matter of days, saw results from what they had learned. Pupils commented on their improved sleep quality, a greater feeling of happiness, a decrease in worry and success in an assessment about which they had been worrying until they used the Swish!

So basically my story is…
A 2 year old child ran Infront of my car and after trying to save her she haemorrhaged in my arms and later died at the hospital.
After this life became unbearable and the trauma of seeing and dealing with the accident became too much.
I became a patient at my local mental health hospital, and had years of therapy and counselling.
Flashbacks, hallucinations, nightmares and panic attacks became my life just to name a few of the daily traumas I faced.
I had EMDR light therapy, intensive counselling, psychotherapy counselling, one-to-one sessions for Neuro linguistic programming, cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness, safe haven and trauma therapy just your name some.
After 5 years of continuous therapies I decided to try hypnotherapy.
I had no motivation to be present and it was effecting my life massively and negatively impacting on my children’s lives.
That’s when I booked a session with Sam Luxford.
It was an initial 90 minute session to discuss my requirements following the discussion I was then I was hypnotised.
I’m not going to lie I was sceptical, nervous and unsure about it all but at a point where I was willing to try anything that May help.
Sam was kind considerate and very empathetic towards my situation which made me feel at ease and very Comfortable in her presence.
Once we had discussed everything I lay on
the bed ready to be hypnotised and actually thought to myself what am I doing.
Sam put on relaxing music and I began listening to her speak
Next thing I can remember is being told to open my eyes.
I felt very relaxed and at ease as if I’d just had a little nap.
Sam gave me a recording to take away with me and I began listening to this at bedtimes
Following this session it was like someone had switched a magic button in my life or my head so to speak
The nightmares became less frequent, the hallucinations became less intense and my overall daily struggles became less traumatic
I continue to listen to the recording each night and within weeks I have got to a point where I was even able to go outside but I was having a panic attack.
Since my session with Sam my life has improved dramatically and I wasn’t able to achieve any kind of outcome with all the other therapies I’d tried for many years so I would highly recommend anyone who is considering hypnotherapy as an option to go for it
I still listen to the recording on milestone dates etc and I find it helps lessen the impact of any triggers
On the occasions when I haven’t used the hypnotic recording around these times I’ve noticed an increase in hallucinations and nightmares for example
So basically apologies for the lengthy review but I know how it feels to experience anxiety and all the horrible things That Coincide with trauma and the responses to it
So if my story and recommendation can help somebody else who is struggling the so be it
I would highly recommend Sam without a doubt
