Reviews of CS Lewis Square
J. B.
Very nice walk if you like Narnia books/movies. The writer lived in this neighbourhood! You can get a map inside the coffee shop of all the statues location. On the wardrobe you can read a bit about the work of CS Lewis. It's also nice to take pictures :)
W. Q. T.
Good park to hang out at. Get to take a picture of the lion of Narnia. Problem is, it is far from town centre, so wouldn't recommend if you are there to see the square only. The walk to the square is filled with murals that are interesting (Newtownards Rd), which made the journey nice, but otherwise, would only recommend if you have time to visit.
C. E. B.
I've always loved a little dander around here, growing up with the stories and then realising they were created so close to home, always felt so magical ✨
There are plenty of amenities near by, so its lovely to grab a drink, maybe something to eat and have a walk around on a sunny day.... also kind of peaceful on a rainy day if you take an umbrella, clear the mind 😊
A. H.
Nice small square nearby Connswater shopping centre. Narnia fans will enjoy taking pictures with the familiar characters. There is also an urban market here on every 3rd Sat of each month which is well worthing visiting.
R. K.
Cool park (Square) for a man worthy of honoring. Wish Aslan was sculpted to be mightier. 😆
M. F.
CS Lewis Square is not much more than a small park. However, it is free to enter and roam as well as filled with a handful of statues which bring figures of his Chronicles of Narnia to life. I came in the morning and was effectively the only person around. I spent about 15-20 minutes in total walking around, attempting to take the perfect pictures, and otherwise admiring the work.
If I knew folks heading to Belfast, I would recommend they try to work in a visit, especially if they were already in the area. I would not advise drastically changing your schedule to incorporate nor spending heavy for transit to get there if it were significantly out of the way. Hopefully that guidance helps in planning if you should or should not plan a visit!
T. H.
We came to Belfast with intentions on visiting here first. It didn't disappoint. We arrived late in a taxi and the information area had closed but that didn't put us off. We enjoyed the search for all the different characters and taking photos of the murals. The park was busy with kids and adults roller skating. We actually returned the next morning when the information centre and cafe was open. If you have read the books or seen the movies, you will enjoy this amazing park dedicated to C.S. Lewis and his writings. May the upkeep of this square continue and be enjoyed by all.
J. C.
This is a great stop for any C. S. Lewis fan. If you are visiting by car, please note that the parking in the area is horrible; I don't recommend trying to park close by. The park itself is quite pleasant and full of public art. I suggest that 20-30 minutes is more than enough time to enjoy the area.
G. G.
Being a fan of CS Lewis and Narnia, this place was more than just a park to me. It was nostalgic and I went on a hunt to discover the stone table. It would be great if this place was more than just a park, with a small indoor museum with some details about the book series.
E. R.
A wee taste of Narnia...there happened to be a potters market on too so plenty of atmosphere and a diverse crowd. Had a cup of tea in the cafe...
They had run out of traybakes but there was a selection of sandwiches and crisps.
Definitely a hit for visitors and not to far from CS Lewis ' home...💕
K. K.
Just a brilliant square for skating with a great rake of food and coffee spots. Great for walks and even lovelier at night when the twinkly lights are on. Often there will be markets here also.
J. B.
Brilliant square in East Belfast to visit and see the C.S Lewis book character's statues. There's good coffee shops and places to sit outside. It's on part of the Connswater Community Greenway that stretches from Victoria Park to Orangefield Park.
C. K.
I personally think it is a good space. However, it isn't achieving it's full potential. I attended the recent event with stalls etc.....I enjoyed the choir but felt underwhelmed by the event in general. Sorry.
C. C.
We thought the site itself was great. The kids loved the statutes...appreciate its still work in progress with the regeneration in the area. But very nice. The statues are excellent - world class. Would be nice to see more green - the rain and the volume of shoes on the grass areas is definately taking its toll. Well worth a stop - especially if a fan, or have recently seen a movie or read one of the books.
There is also a lovely cafe, over a few floors. Great views from the upper floors. Some snacks along with the usual tea and coffee. The staff seemed very busy in preparing for the day..there were leaflets available about CS Lewis square, but not overflowing with information when asking.
A. B.
Cute little square with charters from C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". All characters displayed in the park have a plaque to go along with them.
A.
Gorgeous community area where there is always something going on or to see.
The lantern parade every Christmas starts here - fabulous fun for the kids!
M. L.
Great place to chill out after a busy day of tourism. If your a fan of the books or films, there's many recognisable characters here, as well as some charming memorabilia on display in the local library.
S. O.
This public square is one of my highlights of Belfast! A fitting tribute to legendary author C.S. Lewis, who was a native of the city. Witnessing the life-size statues of his timeless characters from The Chronicles of Narnia series was truly a sight to behold (especially Aslan, as you can tell from my photos). It would take an incredible amount of timing and detail to get something like this right, and you delivered. Thanks to Belfast for honoring one of your own in such a beautiful day. It's an inspiration to us all.
A. B.
Was there for Christmas lights switch on, great atmosphere, artisan market and lots of entertainment with the fabulous Aslan sculpture watching over us.
J. D.
The square is named after CS Lewis but concentrates on his characters from The Narnia Chronicles as that is probably what he is best known for. It is a bit of a distance out of the main city centre but is still nice to see. Only done in 2016, the sculptures are still quite newish. The wardrobe is off from the square so people would need to be aware of that as it could be quite easily missed otherwise.
m.
This public square commemorates the Belfast-born author, CS Lewis, he of Chronicles of Narnia game. The square had a C.S. Lewis theme, or more accurately, Narnia theme.
The square features a large circular concrete area and several sculptures of characters from the Narnia stories. The sculpture are not amazing, but good especially if you recall the main character. The sculpture of Aslan is definitely the best of the lot, Mr Tumnus comes a close second.
The square is a bit out of the way from the city centre and almost certainly have to get a bus here if you're a tourist. I loved Narnia as a child and for me it was worthwhile.
B.
The statue’s are nice to see and it’s a great park if you’re a skater but there’s barely any greenery and not sure it’s worth the visit out of the city centre if there’s nothing else in that area that you’re interested in.
j. a.
It's a beautiful square and if you are a C.S Lewis fan it's totally worth it or if you go by car, I would not recomend walk there is 30 min walking from the city centre
L. O.
Great park to spend time with kids. Ideal for rollerskating or scooter rides with kids.
c. h.
It's a lovely place to walk around day or night, my kids (teenagers) love it! The sculptures and statues of the different characters are beautifully made...it's well worth a visit!
E. M.
Great fun finding the different statues. Love that they had signs to remind me who they were as I read the books a long time ago! Then continued along the water to Victoria Park. A top morning!
R. V. D. M.
The main attraction in CS Lewis Square is private/social development located opposite, at Lewis Mews, placed directly under power line. All we know the EMF radiation is very healthy for people; looking forward, hoping the next Year I would see a couple extra added 5G masts on the roofs.
Belfast City Council never stopped surprising me with their "intelligent" ideas, keep surprising me and amusing.
M. H.
I hope this place sparks the imagination of a new generation of young people in Northern Ireland, and encourages old alike to revisit the stories and academic contributions of CS Lewis. Be sure not to miss the cafe and the muriel, which preserves and celebrates the best of East Belfast.
W. O.
A must-see in Belfast! Especially for literary fans of C.S. Lewis but also for anyone interested in taking in the city's culture and scenery through walking tours. The welcome centre will make you feel very welcome with their friendly staff and strong cups of coffee. I highly recommend this attraction.
N. J.
Worth the visit whether you are a Narnia fan, or yet to learn what a cracking read they are.
How to get there:
~ Bus, check the Transit Website
~ Stop 10 on our City Sight Seeing Tour, not sure what stop on The Titanic Hop On/Off
~ Walk via The Belfast Greenway
The Trail - starts with the opening of the wardrobe, into the forest and some of the Characters from the 2nd Book (chronologically), 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'.
As a Narnia fan, the film's are not a patch on the books, although still interesting.
The Square is currently being refurbished, but still worth a visit. We saw young children there loving it.
East Belfast Visitors Centre - at the end of the trail is The East Belfast Visitors Centre:
~ Cafe serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes etc.
~ Inside and Outside Seating
~ Free guide to the trail,
~ A range of books
~ Galleries (photos of famous musicians and scenes whilst we were there)
~ Toilets, 1st and 2nd Floors (stairs and lifts)
~ What's on, guides and walking trails...
Accessibility - good.
s. v.
Popular square in Belfast. Named after author of Chronicles of Narnia Rstaurants and takeaways nearby McDonalds ,KFC and a few in retail park. Bullhouse east is a highly recommend local pub. Unfortunately we couldn't get a seat. If weather is good ideal for an evening out.
A. M.
I just love going i usually like to have picnic lunches with me, they make lovely cuppa so i have had many a cup, thier very friendly very informative there is always something to do they have bycicals and maps to show the different walks. There are programs showing markets all handmade trinkets, baked goods, crystals for welbeing and live music.
B. C.
It's lovely in the sunny weather with people all around, skateboarders and cafés but it's very rarely sunny in Belfast and most of the time is empty windy and grey.
K. O.
What an excellent open space and public amenity. Loved the statues of favourite characters from Narnia dotted around the area.
D. W.
Beautiful, didn't even know this was here. Great place to take the kids too, teach them about the history of Cs Lewis
H. F.
Lovely day out here, The Vegan Jamboree was well worth the visit, but it needs to be advertised alot more, 10-15 stalls is not worth the ticket price, expected alot more, food was amazing but very expensive, £10.95 for 3 half potato skins with a tomato dressing and a dollop of sour cream!!!
S. D.
Took grandson to see the figures, he enjoyed it but the locals made it, especially the pensioner who stopped to chat with us. Real gent and credit to East Belfast. Thank you mister.
D. A.
Fantastic public space, suitable for families, individuals or gatherings. Spectacular Art installations from CS Lewis stories.
J. S.
The statues were neat, but there weren’t very many of them and the whole area smelled like sewage.
J. L.
We happened to be there while there was a memorial for Queen Elizabeth. Cute park with sculptures based on the wardrobe book.
l. m.
Lovely coffee shop and dog friendly and staff very nice and helpful will be going lots more coffee is really lovely and buns 👍🤗👍
Ž. R.
Beautiful sculptures but there are no coffee shops
I. M.
Lovely place to see brings to life the wonderful stories of C's Lewis about Narnia the sculptures are very well done and well worth seeing
A. P.
This short walk has several statues and it was a really nice little stroll to a main area, took a few photos, worth a visit if you have time.
T. K.
Lovely little coffee shop here. Have been using it for years now. Pity about some of the customers. Can't let you out the door with a tray. Yes it was a woman being ignorant.
K. F.
Great tribute to an author who played a big part in a lot of people's childhood memories.
B. B.
This is a great multi purpose space with tree lined pathways including incredibly sculptures of some of the characters from Narnia. Next to this is a great outdoor space suitable for outdoor events etc.
L. C.
East Belfast Arts Festival making ng the best use of the Square. Gorgeous day in a space that makes everyone welcome.
L. M.
A gem in the east of the city.
C S Lewis Square brings the magic and intrigue of narnia to east belfast in the area where C S Lewis was born and grew up you can follow the trial of the great man or come face to face with his statue as it opens the wardrobe.
Want to sit and soak up the atmosphere why not have a cuppa at the east side centre.
C. Y. M.
Awesome place for a nice walk or to spend time if traveling with kids. Especially if you are a fan of Narnia!!!
L. G.
Looked really lovely. Full disclosure, it was pouring with rain so I just went to see Azlan and then jumped back in the car 😅
W. E.
This is a lovely place where I spent a half hour when I had some time to kill. There is a nice little café and the statues outside are very nice, you'll especially love this if you're a fan of the Narnia series. In particular the second book.
C. M. (. V. A.
The children and I were in the area for a meeting so I thought I would surprise them with a picnic lunch in the square; they were pleased to dine next to the robin. The square is in an unassuming location that you will not notice from the busy main road, but is like a small oasis tucked behind the hubub of the city.
The children had fun following the map they were given around the park to find all of the characters and learn more about each one.
The final stop was the library where they borrowed copies of the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe to read at home.
My children are looking forward to returning to the square for another picnic when we are in the area again.
J. M.
Saturday market, special foods breads pastries etc with craft goods. Needs something else? Maybe buskers or street performers as a focus to attract people or even local kids performing music.
a. r.
Take the child over all the time really good place too let the kids go on there bikes etc as you get a coffee or just sit an watch
K. C.
Fun to see a park dedicated to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Nice art work. Public Park, no cost.
R. B.
Great location obviously not known to many, fantastic sculptures, little cafe and easy access to numerous local shops
M. W.
Not really worth the walk out from city centre as there's lots of busy roads and rundown neighbourhoods on the way, and when you look at or photograph the few sculptures that are there, you get stadium lights and carparks behind them
R. S.
Visited the potters market. A bit disappointed, as not a patch on one's I have sited in England. Which were bigger and had a much wider selection of wares
K. D.
Tucked in behind a main road, opposite a franchise of McDonald's is this magical area. Anyone who has read 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' by C S Lewis will appreciate this public space. Aslan is there, as is the White witch, the fawn, and other much loved figures from the book. There is even a robin, harder to find (unless you have a guide map). In good weather this would be a perfect place for a picnic, or a photo opportunity.
J. H.
Nice outdoor area with lots of space for children to play and I love the monthly Saturday markets
T. H.
The statues are amazing. However, the visitors center has very little about CS Lewis and actually removes virtually all of his Christian influences and background from the displays. It's strange. Definitely worth a stop though as it's completely free.
L. D.
I cannot believe how lively this place is! So much going on..from art exhibitions to kids boxing to the full Narnia experience! Check it out on fbk for what's going on. I also hear there's a fab restaurant in the trendy containers. It's on my list!
J. T.
A little disappointed that it's just a very small park, but it was fun to find all the different icons from the book, could maybe do with more information/interaction
A. S.
Always rate it as a great family area, spending time there or just passing through on the Greenway. Went for Christmas lights and market
C. R.
Cute little square good for if you're in the area and a fan! Wardrobe was my favourite!
C. T.
Very cool to see the statues of characters from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
I. G.
Wonderful sculptures of characters from the Narnia series. Well worth the visit.
S. L.
It's not a square it's a circle
Pretty good place though
R. O.
Beautiful surroundings inspired by the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. Large cemented area for kids to play (scooters etc) lots of cafés, restaurants nearby and linked to comber greenway. Maybe not a day trip worthy but certainly a nice area and good for a stop off
R. M.
Would be a lot nicer If the rotten smell from the drains were not present!
D. M.
Funny little square! Thought there would be a bit more there than just the statues though, maybe some plagues with some cs Lewis quotes would help liven up the park a little
M. W.
This is a free experience, you start with the wardrobe then take a short walk to see the witch and the rest of the story before you get to the lion.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I. d.
I love this place. The CS Lewis figures from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are amazing and they have now started a delightful craft Market on Saturdays
P. M.
Enjoyed the walk round the park. The statues were good. Coffee shop was also good. Surprising in urban area
J. A.
Was so lovely to pass C.S.Lewis square while cycling the comber Greenway
K. M.
Nice quiet place to go sit, considering the location. Statues are very well done. Hard to get parked at it.
F. C.
Such a great little park. Good for a stroll or grab a coffee at the visitors center and watch the kids play at the skate park.
C. M.
I lovely sun spot to grab a tea or coffee and enjoy any good weather in the middle of the city.
L. E.
The square was honestly really impressive. although they are hard to get, try to make it on a sunny/dry day.
H. C.
Lovely creative area of statues from CS Lewis characters in his Narnia books. eg The Lion, placed high on a hill, the white Witch, the Wardrobe. The Eastside Visitor's Centre at the Square is a great place for a nice coiffee and nicely displayed information on the Eastside of Belfast
C. I.
Fantastic spot for good weather days.
Not much to do but good space for kids to skate and scoot, handy coffee shop nearby too.
Great pieces of art around based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe too.
E. '. L.
A place to visit when you have read the books. And also otherwise it is a great area to wander.
D. G.
Statue of a man looking into a wardrobe. Otherwise it’s a pleasant square.
M. B.
Great open air square with a couple of coffee shops/restaurant on the edges. Has several CS Lewis statues. Often has outdoor events.
s. a.
Well lit square with skate boarders and BMX trick bikers. Good place for kids to practice riding bikes. A coffee shop as well.
D. H.
Area with metal sculptures of characters from 'The lion the witch and the wardrobe'. Part of a river walk that gives good local views.
J. G.
Check it out, some brilliant events held here
N. H.
Beautiful park in east Belfast
C. B.
Amazing little sanctuary in the heart of town. How did we miss this? Two great cafes on the edge of the square which was filled with people hanging out, families playing, couples chatting, under the watchful eye of the beautiful Aslan. The Narnia characters add a little magic to a part of Belfast you could easily drive straight past. The greenway walks are great and safe for kids.
J. B.
Was over for a fun day 😁 was very busy but great spot!
K. B.
Not a huge amount here - only 6 statues to see. Very little information. Not a particularly nice area. There was a nice cafe next to it for refreshments though. Worth a look if you are local to it but don't expect too much.
E.
It was my 1st place to visit in NI. We were not sure what to except but I think it would be a great place for Narnia fans. There are sculptures of characters from Narnia scattered around.
L. O.
Lovely idea, well maintained and we'll kept area for the whole of the population to enjoy
S. W.
Cs Lewis square is lovely. There's a coffee shop that does discounts if you cycled there, the square itself often has children and adults all using the space to roller skate and skateboard and seated walls to sit and watch. It's a lovely little place to sit and watch the world go by, skate or enjoy a coffee.
E. M.
A nice wee walk round that kids would love
S. h. s. j.
Lovely place with beautiful sculptures
P. G.
Great outdoor space with varied sections doing different things. Amazing Narnia inspired statues.
J. C.
Street signage was very poor, and it being on the Comber green way, I had to drive around and ask locals
R. G.
Good spot for story telling narnia etc coffee spots, restaurant s, local shops and new portview, see mushroom growers and again another good place for ears and vinyl shop with more stalls coming. Also antiques bric a brac on the main Rd worth a browse
J. A.
Great visit.
F. I.
There are plenty of bench but no playground.
J.
This is a great place for site seeing. It's also great for skating . A lot of skaters and young people . And once a month on a Saturday there is a market that sell some great things!
M. W.
Great metal sculptures celebrating CS Lewis from the East side of Belfast
A. D.
Great place to visit, could do with a bit of a clean up. Really nice coffee shop called Jack's and area to walk.
G. M.
Was there for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed our visit , I wasn't aware that it even existed before that , our son is in the middle of reading the Narnia books and loved the statues that they have they are
S. H.
I love going for a drive on the mobility scooter around the square after I am done with the community garden facing Macdonald's. As I am a long term volunteer/key holder of the community garden it is nice to meet different people on the way home, at least until we reopen to groups on May 24th (fingers crossed).
d. c.
This is an amazing Place Safe area awy from the main Road ❤ we have been bringing the Grandaughter s all Summer . We'll done East Belfast for all the entertainment and stalls ect. On a Saturday
R. T.
Love going here close walk to Victoria Park, as well as local shopping area nice to see the character's come to life
j.
Brilliant well worth a visit and the coffee shop is fab👍
M.
It's a place with flat ground and areas for sitting. Nice art relating to CS Lewis' work is dotted around the place.
What can I say? It's a round plaza and it doesn't look terrible, 10/10.
Z. K.
Amazing park and have space for skate also
P. M.
Good place to learn more about C S Lewis and Nania
M. R.
Some amazing statues around that relate to the books however it was currently being refurbished so every statue and sculpture had barricades up. Although as a fan of both book and movie I knew the characters etc. There wasn't much for those who weren't fans to know who they were. The shop also had limited amount of stuff. Would have been nice to have a little plaque with a quote from the books or something for visitors to get inspired by it. Really nice to see thou
H.
Well laid out outdoor display of the characters from Narnia. The C.S. Lewis cafe serves good food and lots of information on Belfast..
T. V.
Very nice for family to come to, good coffee and tea bar, mcds just across the road, friendly people, a places to take skates bike etc play game of football, has a market on a Tuesday.
K. D.
It's nice if you are Narnia fan. Unfortunately, I am not into it.
C. W.
At the heart of the renewal of this part of East Belfast CS Lewis square is definitely worth a visit. The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe sculptures are a delight and will undoubtedly encourage photo opportunities. Just off the square is a great cafe and small gallery space. Definitely worth a trip at any time of year.
A. W.
CS Lewis square is a perfect space for community events. Compact, yet large enough to host good sized events for local community.
The statues of all the characters from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are subtle, yet brilliant.
Fantastic to watch locals and tourists just enjoy the space and the characters.
J. W.
Fantastic evening full of roller booting skate boarding and bmx tricks and loud music for all to enjoy best open air spot in East belfast, we should have more of these open air spaces to use for free 💯
W. E.
Small, but nice. My wife and I enjoyed our walk around the square.
R. A.
I walked from my hostel here. It was a little off the beaten path, but the statues were wonderful. It looked as if there was a cute cafe, but it was closed by the time I got there. My favorite statue was actually Mr. Tumnus. Don't miss the stone table!
A. B.
Nice little square. Not really much to it. Had a lot of market stalls when we arrived at midday but pretty dead.
Wouldn't be going out of my way to see it.
j. b.
What a lovely place. Busy always something going on cycling, Skateboarding and if you wait you'll see a lovely dog skateboarding as well.
Start at the searcher and explore the beautiful story of The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. If You call into Jacks cafe for a coffee you can pick up a map that will give you a hint of a wonderful story wrote by are very own author C S Lewis.
This is a magical place to let your imagination run wild.
A must for a visit in East Belfast.
C. M.
A beautiful open space. Explore the square by seeking the sculptures, sit and relax on the seats. Also keep an eye out for the many events held here. Easy to get to is public transport, car, foot, bike.
P. G.
Lovely place for a wee walk with young children lots of sculptures from CS Lewis books. Café close by
d. m.
Just passing through, starting a race there but for any C S Lewis fan definitely go and have a look at all the related sculptures.
C. K.
Great place for CS Lewis fans.
C. B.
Great space right in the middle of town. Kids scooted around, we drank great coffee from Freight, dandered down the path to Victoria Park. What a fab Sunday afternoon.
A. M.
Took my dog down to The Christmas Market. Had a great time (both of us) . Really good location, and great to see something in East Belfast that is a fully inclusive space for all. Lovely spot to sit and have a coffee
R. M.
It was a blue sky day and warm . We had a girl from Hong Kong with us who had read the books ,The paths were clean and the. Sculptures were fresh and clean and well kept, It was very interesting and Aslam was remarkable, Jack's was closed so that was a pity. There was a big mural of wolves on one of the walls which was nice and it would be cool if more of the surrounding old buildings has Lewis related art.
S. P.
I love the theme and the statues of characters are what makes this place although it can be a little empty. I think more events or something to draw people into the square other than the characters would go a long way in drawing people to this area of East Belfast.
R. M.
A lovely space in the city. Lovely to see this important Ulster author commemorated in this way. Come to the square on 2 June 2019 for a special event including live music, food and stories.
l. f.
Endearing sculptures from C.S.Lewis Narnia books, quiet place, families and small children, nice library, information centre for East Dublin and scrumptious food at the café and Freight restaurant. Beautiful murals around. Easy access from centre by G1 glider bus.
R. P.
Absolutely brilliant place, particularly with those who've read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Guides at Eastside centre are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Go visit!
L. R.
Something different to see
N. R.
I am such a huge fan of C. S. Lewis so this time in Belfast was special. It's all together not a very large area but the coffee bar was great and the statues were fun to find. A must-do for Narnia fans!
J. S.
The best public space in the city and linked by two fantastic Greenways. Would love to see more places like this right across Belfast
P. D.
Great gig on Saturday 10 August as part of the East Side Arts Festival. Opened with the Monarchs. Saw George Jones in a different light as a very decent musician. Eric bell was as stunningly talented as I would have expected. Then on to Light taking the stage. Last time I saw them was 40 years ago. Some wonderful music and great musicianship. Guinness on tap and a BBQ outside. Well run show in the Marquee and looking forward to more quality acts next year.
A. L.
Small but nice, with a very nice restaurant beside (Freight)
D. F.
Fun sculptures and a nice monument to the author and his work. Nothing hugely special to plan a trip around, but worth walking through
C. A.
If CS Lewis made you dream about Narnia, this is the place for you. Located in a quite part of the town, this square has a replica of many of the starring characters of Narnia: the pan, the beavers, the robin, the witch, and of course, the Lion. By the other side, you can sit in the authors chair and have a look through the door! And after taking such a lovely walk (or getting there by bike), you can have an excellent hot chocolate or coffee!
L. S.
One of my 'hidden gems' in east Belfast. This place has a wealth of things to do from admiring the Narnian sculptures to reading or looking at the artwork or gifts in Cafe Jack; strolling along the Greenway or picking up a Belfast bike. Plenty of great food and drinks too - and a regular calendar of special events.
W. C.
Great place to have a rest in the sun during your walk through Belfast. CS Lewis was the creator of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe book series. Characters of the book can be found 8n and around the square.
T. P.
The cafe is cool and has public toilets as well as super friendly staff. The sculptures are interesting and it's nice a homage to CS Lewis exists.
If you're into CS Lewis, you should check it out.
D. P.
Worth a visit especially if you know the Narnia series. The cafe and wall pictures of Belfast's history and famous characters is good too.
D. R.
Still one of good attractions in Belfast!
J. M.
Statues are wonderful...and right next door
At Eastside Visitors Centre you will find yourself in an incredible eclectic environment, wonderful attentive Staff, dog friendly, great coffee, great food. Lovely building to drift through to get a deep sense of this side of Belfast City and buy some momentos
J. B.
I saw the Searcher statue some years ago from a car and wanted to see the whole square. I cycled there along the Comber Greenway from Dundonald. The statues are good especially if you are familiar with CS Lewis' books.
C. B.
Sculptures were brilliant and plaques informative. East Side Arts centre missed an opportunity by not sellind Cs Lewis memorabilia
L. N.
Beautiful magical lil spot kids and grown ups will ❤just pity it is a vit of a walk to it will definitely get ur steps in
N. M.
Must see for all you Narnia fans.

I went in for a coffee during a short break from work.Ended up spending 45 minutes there! Abòve the coffeehouse there is a lounge area with a fascinating insight to East Belfast. This is without doubt the best cup of coffee in the East .
m. h.
The history of one of the greatest books ever.
N. B.
Nice little park dedicated to CS Lewis, the lion, the witch and of course the wardrobe!
S. C.
Went to the urban market in the Square and it was fantastic. A real buzz and a wide variety of stalls. Really worth a visit on market day
J. T.
Great place in East Belfast to reflect on the work of an amazing writer. It's situated at the Holywood Arches. Very easily located. If you can find the McDonald's on the Newtownards Road, just cross to the opposite side of the Newtownards Road and you'll see the painting of the white witch on the wall, which is followed by a path to all the different sculptures. You'll need to check out the whole area, including the bottom of the Holywood road if you are looking for The Searcher sculpture. It's all very close together. Not difficult to find. I'm from Northern Ireland and I enjoy visiting there occasionally.
E. G.
Plenty of activity around this very interesting area. I was just beside it at a drive in gospel meeting. They're on until 25.9.20 at 7.30 each evening apart from Wednesday and Saturday
J. P.
Cool park with interesting sculptures. You can use the Belfast bike scheme to get here as there is a station right beside it. Very close to the East Belfast arts centre for a cup of coffee or just across the road from Connswater shopping centre for food and other shops.
L. R. G.
The C.S Lewis Square has amazing sculptures of the cast from Narina including the evil queen and her wolf protector, Aslan along with others. The council have done a great job regenerating this area. As part of the C.S Lewis journey, you can see an exhibition on C.S Lewis life and works in the local library which is also at the edge of the square. There is also a cute cafe in the square too with more info on C.S Lewis.
M. H.
Fantastic East Belfast hotspot for any age , very nicely done with CS Lewis themes all around
V. t.
Free WiFi, lots of places to sit and enjoy the weather or walk around and look at the Narnia statues. Great at any time of the day but especially late night/early morning.
D. P.
Quite a nice and peaceful place
C. M.
Great place to take my 6yr son for a spin on his bike. Was slightly disappointed that the bike pump had been disabled, but this might possibly be due to covid19 precautions.
T. S.
Loads of space to relax and for the kids to play. Coffee shop and a pleasant walking path to see the statues of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe characters.
R. T.
An excellent outdoor civic space in the heart of east Belfast, this newly created square is flanked by a coffee shop and art gallery, and acts as a pass through for the Connswater community greenway. Many outdoor events are held here throughout the spring and summer months.
R. J. W. C.
A lovely square / park to walk around and take your mind back to The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe
A. H.
Nice public art work. No services around though.
m. t.
I visited CS Lewis square for the Christmas fair with my partner and our son. It was very enjoyable and a good family atmosphere. I like that they also had Carol singing from a number of local groups esp the Irish speaking community of the newtownards road. very good experiance, enjoyable. Nòllaig Shona/ merry christmas
K. R.
Lovely setting to pay fitting dedication to an amazing author.
T. G.
A pleasing diversion at CS Lewis Square but the landscape designer should be sacked. In the short time I was there, admittrdly on a very wet day, the ground around the paving slabs was a sodden mess, the 'ramp' was dangerously slippy if the tumbling pensioner was any judge, and I saw one kid fall as he tried to approach one of the sculptures. Good idea with poor planning and execution. It rains a lot here. Poorly drained grass areas turn into mud puddles.
R. C.
Nice upgrade to a previously grim part of Belfast, but it has a litter problem around the outdoor seating..Also local cafe are charging top prices for traybakes, etc
K. D.
OK. If you are into Narnia then very good
P. C.
Beautiful place with impressive sculptures in a part of town that deserves more income from tourists. Excellent coffee shop adjacent to square.
H. T.
Free open space with monuments to key Narnia characters. Great space to kill 20 minutes with the kids . But don't waste your money of the cafes which are over priced hipster places
M. K.
A great resource for East Belfast. Connswater community centre has a load of stuff on for the kids. Community Greenway goes through and there's a Belfast bikes drop off/pick up. Handy for Connswater shopping centre, with a decent range of fast food etc. Store presence is still a bit meh, but improved over the last couple of years. The mural has caused many family arguments about who's who, but maybe my local knowledge isn't as good as I thought. Skate bit for the boarders is a welcome addition. And the piece de resistance, a Glider stop. You can get on a Glider and travel to Dundonald. It was the bus to Ballybean in my day, that's progress for you.
D. B.
Very nice place. Azlan is fantastic! 🙂
D. C.
Went here for first Belcycle (cycle festival ), always keen to support event's that promote cycling. Good event for a first one, lot's of people there, mostly families. Very much aimed at families particularly with young kids. 👏👍
J. M.
I love walking around the park and the 🐦
R. H.
Wonderful public space that frequently hosts arts events. Look for East side arts got details of upcoming events... Great cafe and restaurant on the square, and lovely family atmosphere.
S. W.
Nice place to sit in the sun and just watch the world go by.
L. A.
This is amazing: a CS Lewis theme park at the place of his origin.
R. S.
It's refreshing to have such a well kept area in Belfast. Great interest for kids especially having a robin trail, it's hard to find for youngsters. 10 out of 10.
M. G.
Great wee walk and very enjoyable if you don't have high expectations. I often stop there with my visitors to show them around, and it is convenient to have the Glider stop right there. Also there are many nice coffee shops at walking distance, so the whole area is well worth a visit.
J. T.
Nice open space for the kids to run about and find the statues from the book The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe and even the author himself.
E. C.
Love this feature of east Belfast. Went for a skate with my 10 year old daughter on a beautiful Saturday evening and enjoyed the relaxed vibe.

C. K.
Definitely an improvement in the area, paying tribute to a great Belfast man. Some sort of plaquette to tell the story or at least name the sculptures would be great
S. C.
Great place for kids. We often attend the event And family days there. You Can enjoy The café shop And playground just behind the carpark.
A. J. M.
Statues are cool. If you love The Chronicles check out the lamppost cafe which is very near to the square.

We were so looking forward to seeing CS Lewis Square and the sculptures didn't disappoint. Such a shame it was presented so badly, looked so untidy and unkempt.
M. S.
Went to the craft fair on Saturday it was very good and the children loved the entertainment.
C. H.
I think maybe more of the CS.Lewis characters, would help. The coffee shop has the odd piece of Belfast history on its shelves .worth a visit once .
L. P.
A fantastic spot to go to always plenty going on in the area from markets, live music and other entertainment, turning into a real hub of East Belfast with good links to the city center and outwards. Intersection of greenways such as the Comber Greenway that runs through here from near the city center to Dundonald and on to Comber and also the Connswater Greenway which runs from Victoria Park up to Dixon Park and splits to go on to Clarawood/Braniel or on to the Cregagh Road up to the Cregagh Glen.
