It's such a fantastic place to go. I come here most days to hang out with friends and play games and it's just a blast. I even managed to get into D&D there and now I'm a DM for newcomers thanks to the friends I've made at Geek Retreat that have helped me increase my confidence. Such a fun and welcoming place to go with friendly staff to talk to about games and all that. I love the burgers here too. And the coffee is great so definitely check it out. Would I recommend this place? Definitely. A really great experience here with some really friendly people. And it's something that Bridgend needs. A place for people to hang out and play games. So much fun. :D

A fun place to hang out! It’s been great meeting new people with similar interests. There’s a real sense of community in the retreat, very casual vibes makes it an easy place to walk into and find people to hang out with. Good hearty food that’ll keep you going for those long D&D sessions and the milkshakes are lovely. If you’re into any kind of deck builder/ card game, board games, ttrpgs, or gaming, and are looking for a place to hang out I highly recommend! I also want to say just how accessible this place is, staff are super accommodating and accepting. It is abundantly clear all are welcome! :)

Would highly recommend, especially to the MTG, Pokemon and tabletop rpg community (especially if it falls outside the typical D&D Experience). The staff are delightful and incredibly supportive especially towards the minority groups. A very inclusive space with some absolute stellar milkshakes and you can clearly tell the customer base is doing all it can to keep this place going. You won't struggle to get conversation if you engage within the scene. Would take a star off for not having chicken wings but Heck yes they have nachos on the menu (Finally). Having seen some negativity towards the manager/owner in other comments/reviews and strongly disagree with the snapshot view of him. From my experience he has made sure that my general experience at the geek retreat has been a safe, valued and respected one (even with the level of banter we share that is consented).I look forward to many more wonderful memories & growing friendships from such a nerdy hub in a town that desperately needs these spaces.

A fabulous place to hangout for food and good company whilst enjoying hobbies and games. Offers knowledgeable services for TCG’s, TTRPG’s, Warhammer game play and lots more! New products are added to their shelves all the time and they even try to acquire items that customers request! Food and drinks are great and to a high standard of cleanliness as well as reasonably priced. I’ve brought my children here often and it’s a fun and friendly environment for all ages. I also come to play Warhammer with my friends and no request is too difficult to accommodate. They are working on getting a public disabled toilet facility installed in the near future which will serve the customer base to no end! As for previous reviews regarding not bringing out of store food in: It’s a business that offers their own food and drink for sale and they are completely within their right to refuse customers from bringing in food and drinks not bought in store. This is also a common place practise for most businesses. I also know the statement regarding needing to purchase a drink in Costa before being allowed to use their toilet to be untrue as I’ve frequented their store for years and they always let people use their public toilets for free regardless of prior purchase! As for the awful comment directed at the manager: He’s a lovely and friendly person who is very down to earth and extremely accommodating to all his customers as much as he is physically able. I’ve never had any issues in this store and will continue to support with the endeavour of helping to turn it into a thriving Community hub that many people want it to be!

Fun and welcoming place to be. I travel from Bristol on Sundays to hang out there. Food is good, milkshakes ate amazing. Good vibes all round.

What a fab place. Welcoming environment, nice food and drink as well as all the different games to try out. Many differnt clubs emerging from there as well The staff are very knowledegable on all things board games, TCG, pokemon, dungeons and dragons, computer games etc. The manager has done a grand job bringing in such a venture to bridgend that fills a gap for many kids (some struggling) finding their way, and my experience is of being treated very well in there and in all the kiddos being treated very well. Give it a try and pop in..

A awesome place to chill out and eat food, especially for DND! Always fun to come from work and unwind, the owner and staff are super friendly and talkative to all customers! This is awesome inclusive place for people with autism and LGBTQ people.

Would I recommend geek retreat? No! They make me go home when they close. In all seriousness in the short time they've been open they have been a god send to the town. Everyone is welcomed and everyone is friendly. They have created a safe space that anyone can show up, play some games, make some friends and create some great memories. Offering everything from boardgames, TCG to video games as well as a clear and crisp storefront. Currently I'm spending more time here than at home! Nice milkshakes, good burgers, good selection of snacks (however would like to see a crisp or healthy option, going to try kill the stigma!) Geek retreat Bridgend is kid friendly, nerd friendly and new player friendly. Come down, check it out and enjoy!

Grate place, cool set up, lots of potential Just no toilets so be prepared, any board game that takes a while and you might need a pee bag on your leg
