Fabulous jazz cafe and bar. There’s live music almost every day. Food is simple and delicious and the bar is well stocked (excellent beers). The staff are sooooo good...very friendly and helpful. Grab a bite to eat, get yourself a drink and then downstairs for live music.

I'm quite a newcomer to jazz and to the Verdict. It's a small but brilliant venue with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. My first visit was before the present improvements and I must admit I preferred what was on offer food-wise pre-improvements but I do see that the reception area is larger now and therefore more comfortable for people to arrive. Lovely place; will definitely be going back.

If you love jazz - genuine, current, high quality, cookin', proper jazz then this is THE place in Brighton.
Upstairs is the cafe where you can get hearty food and drink if you're going to see a gig, or just stopping by.
Downstairs you'll find a warm, classic jazz club atmosphere and great music, played by some of the country's top players.
This place truly rivals some of the London clubs, 5* is not enough.

Upstairs is quite nice but the venue downstairs was way too small for the audience and the stage was too small for a 5+ piece band but i think that's down to the event organiser. I'm sure it's perfect for what it's designed for - smaller, intimate gigs.

Awesome venue with live music, great food and drinks and brilliant staff. A Brighton treasure!

If, by some chance, you happen to wander up Edward Street - maybe you are lost or have just appeared in the Crown Court that lends its name to this unassuming but wonderful place - then make a stop here for coffee. My second favourite coffee joint in Brighton AND the lunches are excellent and the ambiance calm. There are dozens of great photobooks at the back of the cafe for you to read and, when the weather is fine, you can slip out the back door and eat in the little park adjacent to the building. Jazz in the evening.

Went to see the Josh Peach Trio on Saturday night doing jazz versions of well known Beatles songs. They were fantastic. A talented trio and a great arrangement of music. Thanks guys.

Great little place, an easy walk from the centre of town. Friendly staff and good beer. Only seen one band here so far but they were fantastic. Well worth supporting proper music.

A lovely little venue to perform in. Audience is very close to the stage so lovely contact. Amazing quality program of musicians coming to perform. And the bangers and mash was lovely.

The Verdict has had a facelift. Under new management the food is fab - all local. They have their own verdict sausages which are fantastic and they also do a stonking vegan chilli. We had a great evening watching foxivox - a gem. Looks like they've got some great jazz line ups coming in. Loved it.

The only dedicated jazz club on the south coast. Remarkable for range of styles and events. Check out the Safehouse improv nights - usually 1st and last Wed of month

Really highly rate this place. Roxanne is a brilliant host. The club downstairs is cosy and intimate and the sound is really good.

This place is excellent and I thoroughly recommend that you visit it has a wonderful selection of entertainment and it sells alcohol such as beer and wine and it also has some food which is very nice and I think is needed if you are watching some music and you are drinking some beer then eating some food is lovely I thought that this might be related to a judge because bird it sounds like it is something that a judge would give but when I went I did not see anybody wearing judges weeks and when I asked were the jury is they said that there is no jury which confused me

Jazz in Brighton is quietly becoming known world- wide. The Verdict is setting the pace. Every other Thursday: Jam sessions - which is the dark heart of jazz.

Love this place, as a performer and as a punter, but not always beer drinker friendly. Switch to juices or wines

(Translated) Jazz and soul music with a beer. Typical restaurant not for tourists. Call to reserve a place in the small room on the sub-floor. Better to eat something first
(Original)
Musica jazz e soul bevendo una birra. Tipico locale non per turisti. Telefonare per prenotare un posto nella piccola saletta al sottopiano. Meglio mangiare qualcosa prima
