Reviews of Badock's Wood
Cannot believe how much has changed in this park last time I was there was 30 years ago and it was a dump bag then it's a lot nicer now could do it some more benches.
Peaceful...surrounded by trees and a trickling stream..Easy to walk around for most ages. Lovely 👍
A wonderful little wood with a stream to paddle through and an old rope hung from a branch for kids to swing on, a place I would have spent hours messing around as a kid.
Brilliant place for either a dog walk or a casual walk/ hike
A really nice place to walk or jogging through and walking the dog. 👍
Nice woods with streams running through them. Great place to walk the dog
Love it.
Beautifully cool spot on a hot day - lovely short walk alongside a stream
Nice enough to have quick stroll with the dog but can get very muddy when wet
Local small wood, ideal for short family walks or walking the dog etc.... Some historical sites as well with information boards
Really nice place a great place to walk the dogs.
From Henleaze to Southmead a country walk in the middle of the city. Lovely river and wood engravings .
Lots of birds whistling. Mainly dog walkers but all welcome . Good for steppers
This little forest is so amazing. A little piece of nature inside the city! I’m in love!
Good place for a walk with grand children
Beautiful walk sadly currently spoilt by regular flasher/ grabber incidents, total lack of police presence & subsequent lack of walkers😡
Lovely walk, fun for kids and dogs
Wonderful art work in the woods, very small however
Nice walk with the kid and dog
My local spot to unwind and de-stress.
Do note that there is no apostrophe - the name is Badocks Wood.
Check the fobw website for events and activities.
Fun place for dogs and small children who want to explore the outdoors
Perfect dog walk for avoiding overly hot days
First walk here today. Very nice walk
What a great outdoor space. Tucked away amongst a load of houses, it's taken us having a dog to really discover this place. We tend to walk by the stream. There are other parts to the place and it's generally well kept.
The wild garlic smell is lovely at this time of year (early spring)
Most dog walkers pick up after their hounds. Need more bins though.
Lovely place to walk the dog or kids
A great local woodland walk with bustling streams and meandering pathways.
Love this place. Wonderful green space in a city. Children love it.

A nice little woodland walk tucked away in a otherwise residential area.
Great park. Suffers a bit from poor treatment by dog owners
Fab place. Countryside on the door
It's a beautiful slice of nature in an otherwise urban setting.
Great place to take the dogs! Beautiful area just be prepared to bring your wellies if its been raining and you don't want to stick to the main path!😁👍🏻
Lovely place to take dog for walk
Peaceful woodland walk, lots of birds, squirrels and the stream.
Can be very busy but good inner city stroll location

Ok for a short walk. More for dogs really.
Lovely in sunny weather plus dogs love the stream
Our favorite place for a walk with our dog.
Nice woodland to walk the dog

Very beautiful walks.
Alright, lots of chavs and littering though
Wonderful natural resource
Lovely walk through the woods.
There could be a couple more benches and at least one shelter hut thing!😂
Beautiful nature oasis in suburbia. Brooks, forest, meadows - great for exploring with kids as well as dogs

Nice walks with the dogs
Lovely spot for a walk.
Busy but still nice
Alfie the Sheltie loves it here!! 😁
Good for dog walking
Pretty and separate from the city around it.
Love Badocks wood
Lovely little hidden gem - a sweet little wander for an hour or so. Great for little ones - compact, manageable, but big enough to offer mystery and hiding places. I'd have given it 5 stars, but, like a lot of us, it's a little tired and in need of a bit of post covid love. It's a 4.5 star gig. Don't let me fussing over a few rotten benches and a couple of downed trees put you off.
Fun place to take kids to
Lovely place for a walk
A lovely place, shame about the litter.
Autumm colours look great.
Wonderfull wood in wesrbury
Beautiful peaceful place
Very peaceful and quiet
This is a beautiful natural reserve...
Dont forget your wellies!!
Great place for walking
Pretty place in the middle of a resident area. When the river is deep it's fun to wade in, rope swings have been set up and there are some lovely tree carvings. Can get busy, lots of dogs but a fun place for a cute walk.
A hidden gem. between Southmead & Henleaze.
Nature wildlife and quiet

(Translated) Very nice park. There was a lot of mud because it had rained the previous day.
(Original)
Parco molto carino. C'era molto fango perché il giorno precedente aveva piovuto.
(Translated) Fantastic place, ideal for a walk, picnic or playing with children.

A brilliant place for walking the dog… take a towel to dry them off afterwards lol
Nice little walk and stream for kids to float their paper boats
Lovely but muddy in autumn and winter. Great for my dogs. Best to go early to avoid too many people. Make sure you keep eyes on your dogs as there was an attempt last year 2019 to steal someone's pet. Quite a short walk and mostly pretty level.
Beautiful little walk, can do all the different routes through the whole forrest path in an hour or two. beautiful spot! There's a nice little shaded fern area by the stream too, nice for a date.
Only fifteen minutes walk from Southmead Hospital, very calming. Wide smooth accessible concrete path as well as more woodland paths
Wild nature, not overcrowded, cool in summer.
Perfect walk through a hidden gem. Ideal for summer strolls and dog walks
Fantastic woods with a stream flowing through. You would not believe that this place could existing in the middle of the city behind rows of houses. A magical walk for the kids with lots of things to see for curious young minds. Great outdoors for a quick walk and very popular with dog walkers.
Lovely little walk in the woods today. Will definitely go back work a picnic
Can be quite dingy in winter, but gorgeous park with a lovely natural playground. Beautiful stream through it.
Good place to family walking.
Nice for a quick get-out-of-the-house walk. Not very big 1km round walk plus a couple of small paths. Very pleasant in the late winter sunshine. Great for younger (5-11) children to explore and hide. Mostly safe, but some unfenced shallow water areas
Beautiful ancient woodland and stream, great for walks, exercise, dog walking, dam building etc
Lovely place, singing birds. Little springs.
Excellent place for walking dog and exercising to keep fit. Good field space and lots of wooded paths. It's bigger than you envisage on first visit. Lots of wild life and birds etc. Can be quite peaceful but excellent for family day out.
Nice park, with a lots of birds. Too bad that dogs without leashes make them fly away.
Beautiful woods for a small walk.
Spent a lot of money on not very much food. They did cater for my son's request of crab on his pizza. Which is not on the children's menu. I had thr gluten free fish and chios. The chips appeared to be basic frozen chips. The batter was lovely and crispy but no salt and vinegar was provided apparently they don't have it for take out. 🤔. I'm.not sure we would go again. It was very busy though, so I'm sure there are some star dishes.
I totally love this placeas do the dogs
Perfect place for a dog walk, especially if your pet loves running through water. Few hot spots for a picnic and few ball games with the kids... Just watch out for four legged ⚽ lovers 😂😂😂
Great place to take the kids for a walk. Some interesting paths and streams to wade through. Wellies recommend for anything off the beaten path but should be fine for prams if you keep to the paths.
My dog said, "lots of great sniffs and fun muddy bits especially the stream which is nice to stand in when I'm staring at you. And sticks, lots of sticks. Where's the stick? I don't know, let me look".
One of the best dog toilets in Bristol
Great place for dog walking, well kept, lovely stream running through. Fab way to spend the morning with kids and dog
Plenty of paths . Trails and fields to explore. Stream . Picnic areas many species of trees. Popular with dog walkers
Have been walking in Badock for many years and love it. Sometimes it can get too busy but as I'm a regular dog walker I tend to walk at about 6.00 am.
Lovely spot.
Lovely little walk with streams to play in for kids.
One of my favourite wood walks in Bristol. There's several sedate streams that meet up in the wooded area, which the kids love and so does the dog. There's a few wood sculptures carved into fallen trees, which is nice. There's also a field area if you're I to that sort of thing (I don't judge).
No playground or anything like that but for a little wander around with the family it's lovely no matter what the weather is doing.
A point off mainly because there seems to be a bit of a problem with people cleaning up after their dog. It pays to watch where you tread.
Lovely little woodland. Very busy over lockdowns! In need of funds to repair paths and create more wild life areas, but a great park
Use this 7 days a week as I live 5 min away. The grandchildren love it cause of the water. And I get to walk my dog in a pleasant wood. And you can make friends with other people with dogs
Brilliant for water dog's, plenty off squirrels for good fun walk,
Beautiful woodland to walk your dog and children love it too. Wear wellies because it's impossible not to at least try to cross the stream once.. Measured 1k walk (or run) for those looking to exercise.
Very nice walk with the pooch. Although squirrels abound so if your furry friend is a fan, they will get more exercise than you, and will get wet. (Which if you play your cards right and get them to go in at end of walk can be helpful to wash off any mud!)
:)
Peaceful woodland area with Riverside walks. Popular with dog walkers. No toilet facilities.large green space.
Lovely walks and plenty of friendly doggos to play with 😊
Bosco enjoyed the stream. Easy access and defined walk.
Lovely place to take your kids or dogs for a walk, lots of shade for hot days.
Great for dog walking.
Walk a impressively long way under tree over for a small area. Lots of badgers If your lucky your see a ferret
I go every day with my dogs. It's a lovely walk for families with small children because there is always lots of wild life and the trees are pretty nice this time of year.
Beautiful spot that feels like a release from the city. Great walks with a little stream in wonderful woodland. No toilets or cafe though which is a shame
An awesome nature reserve that is dog friendly. You can let them off leash.
Perfect place for walk with a dog or your little one. Woods keeps you cool during hot summer days. Plenty of wildlife animals to observe.
A great place to walk the dog. Not there former glory and in need of a little tlc with broken benches and such. The place is generally clean and the community of woods goers are considerate and look after the place.
Great place to walk the dog, especially when it's hot as its shaded and they can paddle in the stream
Great for a dog walk and fun for kids with a stream perfect size for splashing around in in wellies. It's in a natural sheltered dip too, so out of the wind
Can be quite busy but a nice short walk which includes a field for dogs to run free. Just watch for the odd bit of rubbish and dog poo!
It's very good for children and dog walkers because there is a stream running through four children like to go through the water but you need your wellies
Lovely place to walk the dogs. A stream so they can paddle. All accessible with a pram. Under the trees its cool on a really hot day
Brilliant natural woodland brought back into use by great Bristol volunteers. Mostly used by dog walkers. In places within the wood you could think you were in the middle of the countryside. Look for the amazing tree stump sculptures.
Pretty little walk, not quite long enough and often busy. But still very relaxing and chilled out.
Great short walk with the dogs, didn't know it was there a little secret 😀
Nice bit of woodland. Brook feels quite dirty and has hallmarks of its industrial and urban past. Hope you like dogs, it can feel over run at times.
Compact and bijou with good selection of craft beers. There is a menu but we only had one in the sun and moved on.
Great for a walk with the kids able to explore. There are a lot of dogs being walked here so not a peaceful walk but a nice one.
This park is a good place to spend time, river and amazing view. People spent time with family and friends. Historical place. There are boards to learn about history of the place.
Spent good time.
Wonderful place to relax. Meadows, streams and woodland. So beautiful there. Easy parking. Dogs are also welcome (there are bins).
Lovely place to take the dog wiv streams and also a big field. I enjoy walking and exploring the woods. A great walk 😊
Great bit of wooded area and greenery in a built up area of Bristol and is popular with children and dog walkers alike
It is for me on the way through for 2 local walks that I use (Bristol Ramblers Triangular Walk - 18 miles) and Alan Burtons memorial walk (11 miles) taken from a book called Bristol Backs, but both go in very different directions
It is unspoilt and a great area
What woods? Strip of green belt does not a WOOD make..
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck... We are not going to be this juvenile sir, are we? 😂 I feel bullied in to five staring you now...
Not really, my pleasure 🥰
Love it here, such a nice little walk and shallow waters for kids to play and lots of rope swings
Good place for a dog walk. But not a long one. Dry paths and not too much mud
A very pleasant retreat from its urban surroundings. I stumbled upon Badock's wood today by accident; it seemed a well maintained yet natural place, teeming with birds and squirrels.
One of the Best places in Bristol to have a lovely walk! With sculptures in wood and a sweet little river!
Lovely woods with nice walks. No parking or toilets but can park at Greenway centre
Grand children love playing here
So pretty, lovely walk... Picturesque... So many lovely people and dogs... Really enjoyed our walk
Today I visited Badocks Wood with my grandson. We were paddling in the stream (the Trym), a lady passing us on the path commented that she didn't know who was enjoying himself more me or my grandson (7). I said probably me. I added that I have been coming here since I was his age (over 60 years ago) and my father before me when he was a boy. I can't think of a better recommendation than that !
Beautiful woodland walks mostly following the banks of the River Trym and a tributary.
Wonderful peaceful place with plenty of wildlife flora and fauna. Oasis of peace in middle of residential area.
I do recommend anyone want to have such a wonderful time especially if you've a dog to go and enjoy yourself in walking as well as to meet many people walking around defiantly I will go regularly to Badock's wood .
Small but beautiful woods to have at the back of my house. Peaceful and serene with quaint little stream and creative wood carvings to be found.
Not a bad dog walk, a bit on the small side though, so larger dogs may need somewhere bigger.
A lovely woodland walk by a stream (the River Trym) yet so close to the Bristol suburbs. Very popular with dog walkers
Lots of options for short/long walk by the river in the woods with a few benches and some fallen tree carvings by the very talented local chainsaw artist Andy O'Neill.
Recommend if you have children with you that you wear wellies, the river is mostly shallow enough to splash in.
There's a bronze age burial mound with a silver landmark off to the right if you enter via the Doncaster Rd entrance, and a good children's play area (Doncaster Road Park) on the other side of the road and a cafe at the Greenway Centre up the road.
Great place to go if you are bored. Lovely area.
Lovely walk for my dogs.
Lovely walks through a woodland setting with a choice of paved or grassland tracks, very peaceful and scenic
Enjoyable walk for all people and plenty of room to exercise your dog
Nice place to walk dogs, with a large open area. Also good for jogging.
Wonderful place to walk around- my dog has lots of friends there and I get to meet a lot of friends also!
Even in the rain had a great time. Found two rope swings and lots of shallow river to welly-wade in!
Lovely walk thru woods, peaceful, lot of history to it. Though watch for dog poo
Great little space for dog walks and chilling. Feels like your not in the city .
Great place to walk dogs or just stress relieve to a bit of nature in the city
A nice wood it has both paths in the woods and an open green space with other mud paths down the side. Most of the wood is accessible by any sort of bike so good for kids.
