Reviews of National Trust - Cadbury Camp
B. C.
Interesting, sunset is a great time to go, great views in all directions, and a lovely walk. If you drive up Hill lane note that the lane belongs to the Elton family of Clevedon Court, and they are very happy for people to make use of it. The sign at the bottom discouraging people from driving up it is from a couple of residents who live off the lane trying to suggest otherwise, private means it belongs to Clevedon Court!

It's a really interesting place to visit, you may need to do a bit of research first, park at tickinham village hall, very big site with great views.
L. B.
Beautiful moderate circular walk which lasts for about one and a half hours. Lovely views at the top.
M. K.
A short steep climb up from Tickenham village, there's not much here but there are beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and if you can find a spot that's sheltered from the wind, it's lovely for picnics.
D. B.
A wild beautiful prospect, accessible by foot or cycle by rough stney bridle way
S. W.
A very impressive double ring fort. Long ranging views
C. M.
I was wildly mistaken that this was the origin point for infamously nationwide Chocolate.
Yet, a wonderfully pleasant grassy mound. Is a bit steep to access, so not suitable for zimmer frames.
Presents a extensive view of Clevedon as you try to get your breath back from ascending. You do get some rather fantastic perspectives of rolling English countryside, complete with cowpats.
Overall, it's very much a decent short walk with £2.50 approx "Honesty Box" payment at Tickenham Village Hall.

This is a great place to walk to and around, especially with dogs. The views on a clear day are stunning and even on an overcast day it's worth a look. There's a small information board at the main entrance detailing the history and wildlife of the camp. There are a lot of wild flowers which are very pretty to see and occasional deer. There are sheep in the field at times so be careful if you have dogs with you.

Nice place to go for a walk. Parking is available nearby at the village hall in Tickenham quite a steep walk up the hill and in wet conditions can be a bit tricky. Views from the top at the old iron age hill fort go on for miles. The remnants of the old fort boundaries are still very visible and being in the centre is almost like being in a shallow crater. Lots of open areas and woodland to walk through.

Park in Tickenham village hall car park. At the car park entrance walk left away from the garage. Less than 100 yards you will see a public footpath sign. Slight incline at first but difficult as lots of tree roots exposed. Over a gate then very steep climb up to another gate and then you see the NT sign. Another bit of climb and then you can see the camp. Views all round for miles. Lots of cows and sheep with plenty of poop underfoot. Well worth the effort to appreciate our history and our countryside.
R. C.
Climb up for panoramic views well worth the effort
M. S.
There are lots of different ways to ascend to the camp where at the top you'll find well maintained signs that tell you more about its history. The views of the surrounding area from the top are exceptional. A great picnic spot for a Sunday afternoon. Directly below the camp on the Southern side, search for the new wooden platform structure. A beautiful example of an architectural intervention for the public created by local residents of Red Rock Farm - Thank you.

Great place for a real nature walk. No facilities but of course that keeps it nice and quiet. Take your own coffee etc.
G. L.
Nice for family’s hiking

Park in the village hall car park in Tickenham, walk along the road, away from the garage, for about a minute. Turn left, over the stile and follow the path up. Iron age fort at the top. Beautiful views and plenty of onward walks to be had.
R. M.
Great views. Steep walk which can get slippery but otherwise perfect for an afternoon stroll

Well worth a visit. in 1980s used to get the bus out from Bristol & walk up to Cadbury Camp from Tickenham. Enjoyed it in all types of weather with Winter having its own magic, Used to continue through the woods and over the M5 bridge and on to Clevedon.
S. T.
Worth walking up to this ancient iron age Fort. A large round raised earth shape with stunning 360 degree views. An information plaque is there describing the history of this place.
C. R.
Well preserved bi-vallate Iron Age fort. Excellent views over the Severn, down to Crooks Peak and over Nailsea. Grass is conservation grazed by sheep. Must visit again in spring/summer for wildflowers
N. M.
Great spot to see the valley around! Fairly muddy on walk up from Jacklands Fishing Lake. Would be amazing in the summer for a picnic
J. M.
Amazing iron age Fort. Lovely countryside. Needs a walk to get there!
K. G.
Two ramparts and the intervening ditch survive from this Iron Age fort. Thought to have been occupied from c300BCE to 100CE.
A bit of a climb to get to the fort from Tickenham village. Details of the route are OK from the Village hall or National rust website. Take a photo of the directions with you as the bridleway entrance to the route is a fair way down the road (Left facing out from the village car park).
A. S.
Great views wide open space views across Bristol Channel with sandpoint breakdown lining up with steep Holm and flatholm

Lived near the camp for thirty years and this was my first visit, it's a great walk so it won't be my last.
