Too marshy for many beach activities but a very good place for a quiet walk with a sea view

Portishead is a free place to visit. If the tide is in you can see the big container ships glide by. Battery point is a great place to catch the sun and have a BBQ or picnic and have a cool sea breeze (When hot) . The esplanade is great for little people cycling or scooting etc. There is also some exercise structures along the front. Excellent parking all free with great views of Wales (if a clear day). A big green space. A boating lake and park. A great place to spend the day very cheaply.

Very often visit. As it's only just over the severn bridge. Great seeing the big cargo ships coming into harbour. Great for a gentle stroll up the esplanade. Or you can go for a swim in the open air pool. Kids will love sailng in the pink swan boats. Nice little cafe for snacks and coffee. Only downside is if you need to spend a penny or twenty pence in this case. Only one public toilet ( unisex ) so on busy days be prepared to queue.
Nice little town where the big shops merge with the smaller individual ones.

Portishead is just a local place situated just around the corner from Avonmouth Docks. The beauty is there is that during a high tide, one is able to watch ships going in & out of the Docks,. Some of which can be Cruise liners.
Apart from that one is also able to look over the Bristol Channel and see the Welsh Coast.Very popular with locals to spend an hour or so.

A favourite place of mine to have a seafront walk. Good distant views across the Bristol Channel. A couple of good cafés if you fancy a brew....
