G. N.Absolutely LOVED this campsite and wish I'd booked for longer! Lovely site managers, great facilities, good size pitches, not too close together and a lovely vibe from other campers. Nice and sheltered. Very close to the stunning river. Lovely walk/cycle into the city. Cardiff is lovely too. We will definitely book again when we are back in Cardiff.
S. B.A great stay in what must be the most city centred campsite I know off. The pitches are predominately gravel hardstandings for both motor homes and caravans alike. Pitches have electric and water as well as easy access to grey and black waste disposal. The site is directly located next to Cardiff’s main park and shares road access with the national sports academy. It’s an easy drive in from the M4 and definitely worth a visit.
B.Lovely little campsite. This campsite is perfectly located in Cardiff , 20 min walk along the canal into town .. but the campsite is completely quiet. Not over crowded / nice facilities and the staff working there are really friendly. Highly recommended. We will deff visit again.
D. F.We couldn't believe how close to the city centre this was, we had a fabulous weekend here, the staff were lovely and all were helpful. There is too much around the area to list them here. We'll worth a visit, fantastic location.

I can understand the glowing reviews unless they happened to stay on the one day approx every 6 months when the toilets and showers get cleaned. I showered and carefully avoided touching the walls. Filthy bucket and mop to clean the showers after use. I understand the council own and run the site, whoever does is pinching money

J. H.My friends and I really liked our short stay here - it's a well-kept little campsite in a brilliant location, so close to the city centre, Bute Park and the Taff Trail. We appreciated the secure overnight bike storage. Facilities were clean and good if not massively fancy!
X. S.We have used this site many times over the past 10 or so years excellent friendly helpful staff even offered to lock out bicycles away because of potential theft? Location is the best ever spot on for parks, walks, river, city centre, castle to name just a few. However we must say the facilities and conditions are falling way down.

M. M.The site is in a fantastic location and have a nice friendly staff. However for the best part of £30/ night I would expect much better facilities and a tidier better kept site. The showers and toilet blocks get a 2 out of 5 from me. Money needs to be invested, it seems to be taking plenty each night!
Local dog walkers use the site as a short cut and many let their dogs run free. Tighter rules for dogs and owners need to be implemented for all concerned.
S. B.Quite a basic site, clean usable facilities, and friendly helpful staff. Quite tight on the pitch sizing, but OK . Really close to large park which is ideal for walking and cycling. Less than half hour walk into city centre. Visited this site before, and will do again in the future.
L. B.Really nice site. Very quiet considering it was very busy. Good clean facilities, didn't use the showers so can't comment on how well they work but toilet/shower block was clean. Lovely walk by the river, it was very busy as weather was perfect. This was our first time at this site just for 2 nights as it was our first time out in our camper since it has been done up. We will definitely stay again if going to Cardiff.

G. L.My partner and I went here as neither of us were fully comfortable with camping as it had been many years since either of us had gone camping.
There's a great sense of community here with other campers looking out for each other, plus the management of the site will look out for you too and do the best they can to help being very understanding and friendly.
Despite being located within the city it really doesn't immediately feel like that.
Getting to the site itself is incredibly simple too whether you're driving or reliant upon public transport, being situated just off Cathedral Road, and next to Pontcanna Fields, with just a five - ten minute walk to get to Sofia Gardens itself.
All in all, I absolutely loved my time here and I really could not recommend it enough, five stars feels like too little to give.
K. C.It's a little gem in the middle of Cardiff. I was looking for cheap accommodation in Cardiff for a friend's wedding. This is the cheapest I could find. I paid just over £20 for one person for one night. For camping in general, it's quite dear. Hence, I knocked a star off. I suppose for the capital, it's cheap. It's a very convenient location to get into the city centre though I got stuck with Saturday football match traffic. It's surprisingly wooded and almost tranquil. You do hear some traffic noise.
There's a cafe on site. It's a vegetarian one. I tried it for Sunday breakfast. It was good. There is a shop/reception. All the mod con on site (free WiFi, laundry, etc). It seems like a good place for cyclists (vegetarian) to stop by the cafe. Most importantly, the grass is flat and soft for tent. If it was under £20/night, it would be 5 stars.

T. S.Great place to pitch up! The site staff are super friendly and the tent pitch rate (we had two two-man tents that were charged out on a one pitch rate) I ridiculously affordable.
The showers and toilet block were well-maintained and the coffee shop reasonably priced.
From this site, Cardiff City is a relatively short walk (maybe a bit over a mile) along the 'Taff trail' and through the beautiful park.
Considering the location, you really wouldn't know that you were so close to the City. Would happily recommend for camping, RV's and caravans (though I've no idea what the rates are for these!)

g. r.Great campsite with all the facilities you need for camping , wash room , laundry room , showers , toilets , fridge , staff were amazing and very helpful , site was beautiful and kept extremely clean , the only downfall was some of the other guests they maybe need to be reminded its a family site and if they wanted complete silence they maybe should look for a adults only site ! Also I would suggest to the site a child's play area would be a great added bonus for them .
S. P.A lovely site. A short walk from the city centre but in the middle of parkland. The pitches are very spacious with electricity point and water tap. Vance was very helpful and communication was excellent. Washrooms were unavailable due to Covid19 restrictions.
We would definitely like to visit again.

R. S.Fantastic site, right in Cardiff, within easy walking or cycling distance of the city centre without going on the road. The staff couldn't be more helpful, including locking our bicycles up for the night and explaining the incomprehensible bus network. We've been here twice this year and we'll definitely be back.
m. e.Very welcoming staff we have 2 motorbikes and they placed us next to each other with grass between. Clean toilet and shower blocks sited in a massive Park in Cardiff city centre with easy access to the city.
Recommended to anyone who wants peace yet in the centre of things about 15 minutes walk to the city amenities with various shops bars and restaurants.
J. W.Stayed here over the Christmas period. Excellent location for city centre. Perfect for walking the dogs. Only reason for not 5 stars was the water temperature of the showers, could have been warmer. Will most definitely be coming back in new year. Staff can not be faulted for their assistance.

W. R.Cardiff Caravan and Camping Park is another of Cardiff's many green spaces. The grounds is absolutely beautiful especially on a sunny day. Due to its proximity to other facilities and the city centre, I believe this make this Caravan and Camping Park is really great one. I'm not sure of cost comparison as I've not used other sites before.

P. T.Loved this place, right in the heart of Cardiff. Easy access, though the Google pinpoint is wrong. Use the Sophia GArdens Address and it is signposted from there.
Beware, access is through a very narrow twisty access road, deliberate I think to make you slow right down.
A great Council run facility, clean and tidy. An onsite shop and cafe and a place to rent bikes too. Although you could walk into town from there.
Nice semi-circular pitch layout too.
Open all year round and surprisingly busy for beginning October.

P. D. R.(Translated) Flexible. When we appeared to have no reception with the satellite, we were offered the opportunity to look for another place. Unfortunately no reception there either, so the first nicer place was held. City very easy to reach. Beautiful bike ride made in the area with the final destination Cardiff Castle. Nice place to visit. Spicy course, an e-bike is not a luxury there. In the evening visited close to a brewery / pub / restaurant. It is only a short trip to the city, close by, to do well with the bike, but you can also do it on foot. Definitely worth returning.

Flexibel. Toen we geen ontvangst met de satelliet bleken te hebben werd ons de mogelijkheid geboden om een andere plek te zoeken. Helaas ook daar geen ontvangst dus de eerste mooiere plek gehouden. Stad zeer eenvoudig te bereiken. Mooie fietstocht in de buurt gemaakt met als eindbestemming Cardiff Castle. Leuke plek om te bezoeken. Wel pittig parcours, een e-bike is geen luxe daar. 's Avonds vlak bij een brouwerij / pub / restaurant bezocht. Het is slechts korte tocht naar de stad, vlakbij, goed te doen met de fiets, maar dat kan evengoed te voet. Zeker waard om terug te keren.
