Great experience with the family at Christmas. We saw A Christmas Carol which was brilliant and entertained 9 year old and the adults! The theatre and the staff were fantastic. Highly recommended
M. R.
Lovely theatre! Staff are lovely and food is well priced! They have a lovely restaurant where you can buy hot food at a good price. It’s amazingly wheelchair accessible and there are lifts everywhere to allow access
K. W.
Saw Dance to the Bone on Monday - and I'm going back tonight to see it again!! An amazing production and beautiful space. The concessions are reasonably priced as well. Also, they have a very competent volunteer base, and do a very good job of recognising their volunteers.

A magical first theatre trip for our Grandsons. A Christmas Carol set in Cardiff was well worth the visit.
J. N.
Excellent venue supporting grass roots theatre and performance. Lobby area provides friendly location with great coffee and drinks!

Warm and friendly. Every member of staff I encountered were amazing. Very accommodating with my children and nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you Sherman Theater for making our visit a positive and enjoyable time. I will definitely come back!

It's easy to overlook this theatre amongst the other live-performance venues in Cardiff. Indeed, we have been to most of the others, and have recently discovered that we have been missing out.
The pre-performance food and drink was nice, and very good value. We had five sharing plates and a bottle of wine for £20. Possibly the choice of food would not appeal to everyone (sharing plates are not to everyone's taste, but we enjoyed them) but it represents great value for money.
Also, I ordered a bottle of wine while we chose our food, only to discover the wine would have been much cheaper with the food. This presented no problem, as I was credited with the difference in price when I ordered the food. Proper customer service.
The theatre itself is lovely, and the performance of a dual-language (Welsh and English) play was greatly enhanced by the Welsh and English surtitles. The standard of my Welsh meant my head was whipping hither and thither (watch the play/read Welsh surtitle/read English surtitle) as I watched the play.
Post-performance it was nice to see the performers in the bar, which only happens at smaller venues.
Don't miss out.

12 noon very busy children's performance. Small amount of snacks at bar. (Not child appropriate) those in the know brought their own. No extra facilities for children in the toilet i.e. steps, potty, seats. Good points. Toilets well situated in the large foyer bar area. Could be improved.

Came to watch little red riding hood performing in the studio. Kids really enjoyed the performance, however the seating was not great. Adults were sitting anywhere they wanted and some children were struggling to see.
Facilities wise everything was really clean and tidy.
J. B.
Beautiful and modern theatre. The seating is brilliant as everyone can see. We recently saw Tiddlers Tales with my young daughter who absolutely loved the whole experience and wasn't frightened of the pull down seats as they didn't fold back up on her.
L. J.
Very affordable children's shows and very child friendly pre show experience. Seating is laid out in a way which makes it more comfortable for children and the not so tall to have a better view than most places. Drinks and snacks more reasonably priced than most venues. My grandson loves going there.

Excellent show, very helpful staff lively atmosphere

I am and always will be a 'huge fan' of the Sherman Theatre. They go above and beyond being inclusive, creating access and opportunities for all. Fantastic shows for all ages, we took the whole family to see Red Riding Hood and Alice in Wonderland and really, really enjoyed both shows. If you're looking for a personal experience with theatre then get a ticket to one of the shows here - you really won't be disappointed....

We went for a pint, pie and a play or get it while it's hot. Great price for an interesting evening out. Pot luck with the play but good to support up and coming talent. P.S. go for the extra chips, peas and gravy with the pie.

A hidden gem in the suburbs of Cardiff. Popped in for a nice coffee and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Staff were great and let has have a peep at the stage.
Some great shows advertised and enjoyed the ambient small style of theatre.
N. P.
Great little theatre putting on good quality live and online shows

I recently visited the Maudie's rooms production in Cardiff bay and for the first time in my life felt compelled to leave a review.
I came to Cardiff from London on a friend's recommendation to see this event and it's fair to say I had high expectations.
I was in no way disappointed by what I experienced over the next 90 odd minutes.
From the moment we were met (in a group of maybe 20) by the flustered, lost, groom to be, Arlo at a bus stop, we were transported. Transported backwards in time to a magical, charming, sometimes funny sometimes scary world peopled by engaging characters ranging from a classic Vaudevillian baddie to a talking sprout. Never for one moment did I not buy into this fantastical tale unfolding before me. The audience was a mix of children from 6 upwards to me in my late middle age and included all shapes and sizes and ages in between. As one we moved between and through the differing worlds and rooms. Each of these charming rooms were imaginatively and incredibly realised by an obviously gifted production team. The audience were by turns listening in rapt silence, laughing, booing or trying and in my case failing to stem the odd tear.
The cast were first class and I can not pick out any individual to praise as it would feel ingenuous to not heap plaudits on the group as a whole.
I left the venue with my over riding feeling being one of how lucky I'd been to experience such an amazing show in the company of so few fellow audience members.
I'd recommend this show to anyone without reservation and will surely come again when Maudie's Rooms makes it's (presumably) inevitable and triumphant return.

Similar size and layout to a cinema, comfortable and clean. Toilets located near the door to theatre and very easy access via train if you want to frequent the bar.

Great location for the show.

Alice in wonderland was magnificently done. We took a whole school to see the production and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all children and accompanying parents and staff. I would definitely go again.
l. l.
Fantastic theater! I take the children(ages 2-13years)regularly! Much cheaper than the bigger theaters in Cardiff and the shows are brilliant! Highly recommend!
M. B.
Innovative and forward thinking theatre. Much improved venue for pre-theatre drinks since the refurbishment. Great sounds and views inside the theatre. Car parking available outside and at the nearby train station.
D. R.
We took the kids to see Horrible Histories and it was great. The Sherman is easy to get to and a really comfortable theater. Lovely for small productions
S. H.
One of Cardiffs hidden gems. Small theatre with great acoustics. Seating wasn't exactly spacious, but was pretty standard to most smaller theatres and at six foot one I managed ok.
f. f.
Great venue all seats get a good view, we were late and they were great at being able to get us in as soon as they could. Drinks are a good price and parking on the street was free in the evening
C.
Went to a comedy night here. Bit quiet, but the comedians and venue were really good. It's obviously been recently renovated and the bar area is nice

"It is a very good theatre to both perform in and observe as it has a main stage and a studio space, both are very good to perform in. The main stage's raked seating allows you to get a good look at all of the stage and it's actors as well as providing great comfort. The studio space has a second level which can be used as a ring of seats or a way to add more to the show. I highly recommend booking the Sherman theatre as a venue or maybe seeing one of the astounding performances." - Me

I have visited the Sherman on two different occasions, once to see a play and the other to attend an awards ceremony. I was very impressed with the theatre and it's staff. There is always a lot going on there and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

A very good and comfortable theatre.Seating area and stage view well laid out.Refreshments are available to buy, alcohol and soft drinks plus I believe coffee.A good night out.
S. R.
Great production, if a little too 'different ' from the intended. Lovely theatre but no air conditioning which was a problem on that particular evening.
S. T.
Not only is the theatre itself well designed but the production, from set design, costume, lighting and acting is a delight. I could come here every night.
R. g.

Small, cosy theatre. You feel really close to the performance. Seats are pretty small so can be uncomfortable for larger/taller people.
