Reviews of Tiptree Heath
S. S.
Gorgeous autumn walk on a quiet heath. Cows were curious but we kept our distance because of our dogs. Great place to get back to nature.
C. L.
Lovely walk around a well kept and looked after nature reserve.
B. P.
I absolutely love this place. It's a beautiful nature reserve full of trees and shrub land, and with lots of inter-crossing pathways to follow. It has a decent size free car park on the main road, with several other footpath entrances available from other surrounding streets. This is a great place for a stroll or to take your dog for a walk, and you can get some great photos if you're into nature photography.
J. D.
It's a beautiful place for a walk with the family. The kids love the puddles, climbing trees, looking for painted rocks and just the freedom in the woods.
O. S.
This is a lovely Place to visit, its a mixure of oak, silver birch and three types of heather. If your lucky you'll see the resident ponies plus all the other types of animals and bugs.
Enjoy your time there.

Tiptree Heath is lovely to walk your dog on hot days. Walking around the outside area is cool under the trees. However many cars in the carpark I always have a lovely quiet walk not meeting many other dog walkers.
t. k.
A restful place to walk. Not overcrowded, good paths, well maintained but retain natural feel.
P. W.
Great place for a walk with or without a dog. Limited parking when busy. Ancient heath that changes all year round. A must for visitors. Naturally grazed by wild Exmoor ponies or cattle. Highly recommended.
K. P.
Excellent for either dog walking or simply enjoying nature at it's best. Well maintained by dedicated locals highly recommended!
J.
Great place for a short circular walk, often have cows and horses roaming.
G. P.
Had a lovely walk meet a few people with their dogs 🐕 😊 and got a few blackberries for a crumble great morning x
P. B.
Nice little patch of scrubby woodland. Popular with dog walkers. Nothing outstanding but nothing to dislike.
R. H.
A lovely, varied walk with heath and woodland paths... If it's rained, bring wellies as it can be pretty boggy in parts. Bins for dog mess are only located in the (free) car park. But unfortunately some of the dog owners seem not to bother with picking up after their dogs at all. No amenities. Heath section wheelchair and buggy accessible, woodland path is not. Approximately a lovely 30 minute walk around the perimeter paths.
M. E.
A lovely walk through foliage and slightly rough ground. Then a large open area for kids to run in. The horse prints are fun for the family to follow, but it can get a bit muddy so wear appropriate footwear. Free parking is a great plus.
W. A.
I have seen some of the pictures... It is very beautiful.. much like Priti Patel who is an absolute bloody scorcher. And she dresses exquisitely. Marry me.. 🐧🦩🐝🌷🌻🌻🌻🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍧🍧💗💗💗❣️💜💜💜🤍🙏👄I love you xxx

Great place for dog walking and completely safe for the dogs
C. K.
What a beautiful place to walk around. Love when you get to see the wild ponies.

I only stopped for lunch didn't go in the park. But saw a lot of doggy walkers, so it must good for that. Probably 30 min
V. L.
What a lovely walk! Free car park, lots of fab trees and variety of wildlife! Dog friendly
H. W.
Beautiful heathland, the largest in Essex. It is being lovingly restored by the Essex Wildlife Trust and local residents with replanting of natural heathers whilst managing the naturally regenerating scrub and trees. Currently, the local friends group have created a temporary information trail which highlights some of the features and history of the heathland which goes back to the 15th century, once stretching from Colchester to Maldon.
A perfect place for walks-preferably with a dog-or even outdoor remote learning PE sessions! Plenty of dog bins, photo stops and a little carpark on the main road. Wellies or walking boots advisable.
T. K.
Good spot for dog walking!

Went on the bat walk, everyone was so friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time there
S. W.
Really enjoyed strolling round Tiptree Heath but was not impressed by the amount of Huge dogs off there leads running around like crazy, if your not a dog lover it's off putting. Also it mentions about dog poo being picked up on a sign, and next to the sign was a massive pile off poo, these places are for every one to enjoy. I was sat with my 2 year old and when I turned my head a Great Dane had its face in mine which made me scream (I know worst thing to do but it scared me, and the dog could have reacted badly) then a women about a minute later strolled round the bend laughing saying "I didn't know there was anyone there!" Parents take their children over there on bikes etc so not really fair on other families that feel the same, or poss treading in dogs poo.
But over all nice place, nice and flat for disabled and elderly people, lovely and clean no rubbish that I saw so all in all really nice place!
A. W.
Lovely little walk. Can be quite eventful after a bit of rain (plenty of puddles which the kids love).
A. C.
Its not a massive area but big enough for a gentle walk about. Little person likes it as there is plenty of trees and bushes to hide in.
Be careful getting in and out of car park as when it is overgrown its not easy to see entrance and the main road can be quite busy on occasions!
m. c.
Lovely place to watch the sun come up.
V. H.
Easily walkable in 45 minutes, my only want would be that it is a bit larger. I re trace some steps and can stretch it to an hour max. Otherwise, a lovely mixture of heath and some wooded paths plus a small stream. Good car park. Only one poo bin and that is in car park.
There are often exmoor ponies at the heath which is lovely.
A. W.
Very muddy, beautiful place for photography, dog walks, den building. Kids love the heath
D. D.
Nice area to walk around with the dogs. Not that big an area to cover, so can't do a long walk.
Well kept and tidy. Some areas can get very muddy, but you can avoid them if needs be.
D. A.
A lovely wooded area for a walk
D. W.
Lovely dog walk, great watching the squirrels, birds of prey etc. One of our favourite walks
T. R.
Nice for a stroll. Lots of dog walkers but several not picking up their dog poo. Several poo bags slung behind trees. :( Exmoor ponies can be found. Still nice despite the rubbish people.
C. R.
Very pleasant woodland walks and open heath.
If only dog owners would pick up dog dirt and also take plastic bags away with them.
P. S.
Really nice walking area made up of trails through woodland, gorse and other mixed vegetation. Sadly the Exmoor pony's are grazing elsewhere due to the Covid19 pandemic at the moment.
C. C.
Great place for a dog walk
C. C.
One of the last remaining natural heartland in Essex. Perfect for family and dog walks and very well maintained.

Always a favourite spot for Lorenzo the dog. Quiet running around off the main road with soft ground and excellent smells. I enjoy the walk as well!
G. J.
Great walk for dogs lots of wildlife ponies sometimes I fields, remember to look for the carvings on oak trees there's more than you think and not easy to find them all but great fun for families and kids to do on walks

I like the Heath. Right now it's beautifully lush and green, blackberries are plentyful and the homeschooling kids visiting here are very pleasant.

Lovely place for a picnic, and free parking
a. c.
Ok dog walk with parking, very boggy tho and a lot of what seems pointless fencing, all the fencing has gates so its not to keep you out , can't work out why its there.
G.
It's still good, but liked it more b4 they cut much of heathland back. Now a bit open.
T. T.
