Reviews of Thorne Community Wood
A. B.
Nice area to walk, not far from the Thorne canal & boatyard.
Lovely wooded pathways, only spoilt by a some individuals dropping litter.
Excellent access to side of the canal which has some nice views of the boats.

The Thorne Comunity wood is lovely with a grass area & a few picnic tables but this is only part of a wider wood area. Great for dog walking or just a wooded walk. Can even end up at the Thorne canal for a pleasant walk looking at the barges & narrow boats.
R. B.
Great place for a relaxing stroll on a warm day. Plenty of wild life to see :)
S. Q.
Great walk shame about dirt bikes ripping up the ground by railway underpass .
A. G.
Lovely walk in a lovely place
R. M.
A hidden gem. plenty of different paths to take and great for some lovely walks. restricted for less able bodied people or pushchairs due to the gates and can also be very boggy. other than that a great little wood.

Excellent place to walk your dogs or just to walk yourself

Nice quiet place for a walk, however, watch your footing as there's dog mess everywhere from inconsiderate pet owners

Such a beautiful place, not just for dog walkers, out in nature, took a friend who lives in a nearby village, she loved it and didn't know it was there, lovely place to have a picnic, just rember to take your litter home, it harms wildlife, the are inquizative to something which is left and they have no one to rescue them

Lovely wood for a nice walk and fresh air. Bit soggy in places, so bring boots or wellies. Small parking area, so usually park near the canal flyover and walk down the canalside to the entrance
C.
Quiet walk with my elderly dog. Chance for her to sniff out some squirrels and rabbits. Trimmed pathways and plenty of paths to take different routes to and from the car park.

Nice pleasant dog walk large n clean good access from canal and village
S. G.
Beautiful place to walk, open space with breath taking scenery.

great place for dog walks and ramble with the kids. previously known as "Buntings Wood" used by scouts and individuals. lots of paths to take and different terrain. some muddy, some firmer, some lead over the rail way. and some near the canal. others lead under railway bridges. kids like it for hike and pic nics and dogs like a swim and run.

Thorne has some wonderful walks alongside the golf course over the railway and back either along the canal or thru the woods , just one of my favourites
S. B.
Far sighted plsnby local council to plant a new native tree wood, very accessible, right on the edge of town, brilliant mix of habitats.

Love taking my dogs here. I've seen deer at the edge of the trees.

Lovely little wood with many different paths. Can be very boggy even when it hasn't rained for some time.
