I was in the Leith Theatre, Edinburgh for the Kae Tempest show.
Kae Tempest was performing her new album The Line Is A Curve released early 2022 in it's entirety plus some additional tracks.
Excellent venue, outstanding show!

We where guests at a friends wedding in the Thomas Morton Hall and the venue is beautiful. The style of the building is very traditional however the lighting and decor add a modern twist.
The service style was very chilled out and people wanting to book can arrange their own caterers.

Another great venue thsts come to life again and a wonderful one at that.
Top sound and great to see it in action again, lovely!

It'll be even more amazing when it's got proper lightning etc, but the atmosphere is wonderful, we had our choir performance there tonight.. 13/06/2019

Went to see RENT tonight at the Leith Theatre.
Absolutely brilliant show with an outstanding cast. The principals and chorus were just fantastic.
Just a pity the hall was so cold and the bar was so understocked. I did like the way the hall was laid out, the decorated tables were a nice touch.
Also the cast were let down by the sound technicians in a few numbers.
But that didn't detract from an outstanding nights entertainment.
Well done to all involved it was hard to believe it was an amateur production.

Kate Tempest, Jeff Mills, Cinematic Orchestra etc Great venue and location, which should be utilised more often for gigs(events such as the aforementioned.
M. S.
Good venue, easy access, great sound, 3 bars, but it's a bit warm if busy. Needs AC. Otherwise top venue
B. M.
Grand old building that is slowly being brought back to life as a venue. Limited events at the moment so if you get a chance to go to gig there then grab it!
D. S.
Large local theatre now run down and needs a facelift. Could be made great again with some investment.

I served a wedding for my Clients Louise and Jamie in june 2018 here with my catering company . The kitchen is well equipped and the room for the dining tables is very ample and comfortable for the after dance as well . We used their hall for the canapes . highly recommended for weddings and events if you want to stay in edinburgh near the city center

It has been an amazing journey to see this glorious building restored and functioning as a venue again after decades of lying empty.
This sleeping beauty was lovingly refurbished by a large team of volunteers under the guidance of The Hidden Door Festival and is their major success story.
If you get a chance to visit, go!
R. W.
Great venue but seating near the back is impossible for tall people like me 😂
L. S.
Really interesting, I know nothing about art but absolutely loved the hidden doors experience catch it while you can
R.
Great venue, hope they do more gigs
P. N.
Only opens for specific events, original features, Great as a music venue
J. S.
A beautiful theatre still needing more funds to help the restoration... Watched the community choir concert. Excellent!!! So much energy and passion and talent 😍
R. M.
Great venue and glad to see it is being restored.
I. B.
Beautiful old art deco building thankfully reopened and being utilised again, a hidden gem, we're very lucky to have this in our city , reasonable priced drinks comfortable seating good view

I celebrated my 50th here last week. The entrance hallway and bar is fantastic and a great location to start the evening. Following drinks, a live band and disco then played in the Thomas Morton Hall next door. I had 100 guests but more could comfortably be hosted. The staff were fantastic throughout, they genuinely can’t do enough for you. Pricing is also very competitive when comparing with other venues. I’ve never written a review but the experience was so good I feel compelled to write this - if you are looking for a great venue to host a party this is the place - but book early!
J. A.
Great venue with two theatres. One is modern smaller and more like a hall, the other is the larger, beautiful old theatre space.
d. r.
Brilliant up-and-coming space in Edinburgh. Friendly staff great prices and interesting building. Some of the public restroom facilities could do with upgrading but that's part of the refurbishment now. Overall I like the shabby chic and brilliant place to see live music!
J. B.
People of Leith & Edinburgh. Get down and support the regeneration of this iconic and historic spot....or they will turn it into a wedding venue.
A. M.
Great venue. Went to see Cigarettes After Sex there and the sound was amazing. The food trucks outside ran out of food; they're really more setup to sell drinks than to sell food.
M. B.
Amazing theatre. Great to see it being brought back to life. Balcony seating at the sides near the stage doesn't give the best view, so maybe avoid. Great sprung wooden floor - ideal for dancing!!!
J. M. R.
Historically fascinating and with the right personal detail can be a stunning wedding venue. The Humanist Ceremony I conducted was in the foyer with bride and groom at the foot of the stairs. Atmospheric and personal as the couple live in Leith and really connected to the space, sprucing up it's natural vintage elegance with wildflowers, live Spanish guitar, candles and stylish floral chair covers.
M. S.
Saw legendary band The Statics perform all their top hits here.
J.
It's great to see that such an impressive venue has been saved from being demolished or turned into something less useful. I was here last year for Midi Paul as part of the Hidden Door festival and had a great time. Tbh hadn't even realised that the main theatre room was there!
The separate bar was a bit busy, but there was no delay getting served in the main room itself. Bit of a schlep to the main lavs, too, but I'd rather have a clean portacabin than something old and manky - this is still a bit of a work in progress after all.
R. W. S.
The show we went was really good- Little Shop of Horrors.
The venue is in need of a lot of TLC, besides that, the place has great potential for small concerts, shows once funding and upgrade is done.
D. M.
Edinburgh is in dire need of quality music venues that aren't getting pressure from the council. Went to Leith Theatre last night to see the band Mogwai (who hit the higher end of the decibel level) and it was a fantastic venue. I am hoping that this isn't just a space that is used over the Fringe Festival. Edinburgh needs a big space for big bands to play much like Glasgow. If you ever get the chance to see a band you like here I highly recommend it. It's a really cool old theatre and the overall sound quality was amazing. If you are an Edinburgh local or visiting from afar, please check out this venue.
S. M.
Awesome place for live music
D.
Iconic venue, hopefully it can be reborn.
J. L.
Great show, a bit run down theatre chairs need binning and new ones brought in nothing wrong with them apart from being uncomfortable to sit on. As a charity trying to save it from closing it's doing well showing The Tiger Lillies
R. G.
Up and coming community arts space. Well known for its edgy art and theatre productions, as well as the music. There is a lot of local goodwill for this enterprise - I'm sure it will end up being a local success story. Watch this space!
D. W.
I have attended two productions at Leith Theatre in the last year. The theatre has been closed for a number of years and I am reliably informed was only opened last year for Edinburgh Festival Fringe events and then closed again. There is a campaign to trying to raise funds to reclaim and refurbish this once lovely theatre as there is currently no heating in it, suc is the mammoth task ahead.
B2 productions is a youth theatre company who are using the theatre even now in its dilapidated state, raising funds towards its refurbishment. So I would encourage everyone to attend these productions when they see them advertised as it is a step towards restoring this lovely building to its former glory.
C. S.
Best gig venue.
J. S.
A previously closed down theatre, this place has a looot of dilapidated character. Will be chilly in the winter unless it gets renovated, so dress appropriate. But definitely an up and coming kind of location. Hopefully gets a little personal Renaissance
J. A.
Awesome space. Lest hope its gets much more use.
R. K.
This is a great venue, so much character. Our experience helped by a wonderful performance by Crystal Fighters. I hope this place is supported and continues.
K. D.
Very large space, was great for dancing. The toilets I used were port loos out the back, bit drafty, but there may have been more inside.
t. l.
Lots of room for improvement. Still in middle of restoration. Looks are portakabins outside. Heating wasn't working and therefore you need to have warm clothes
r.
Really lovely venue tucked away behind the Leith Library. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and just a little bit different to some of the other music venues in town
W. R.
We had a great evening here for a wedding reception. An attractive, and historic, space and friendly staff contributed to a memorable occasion.
