Reviews of Aldeburgh Cinema
D. W.
I rarely visit as I live 25 miles away but as ever the 2022 documentary festival was excellent. The films are varied & stimulating; the cinema keeps film going for locals, has a local vibe and is straightforward; they support the local community with charitable activities. They're worth supporting! 🙂

This cinema was a wonderful find, a very atmospheric building, ample spaces between very old fashioned seats. The decor was in keeping with the upholstery. The only thing missing was an usherette serving ice cream. Not to be missed.
M. W.
a fabulous independent local cinema showing mainstream and quirky films. I saw 1959 film Pillow Talk. Really comfy seats and great intimate atmosphere.
M. T.
Love the venue and community feel. The screen size, projection, and sound was top quality. Makes me love the village even more.
K. H.
Spacious interior with comfortable seats. Sound and vision pretty good, the best way to experience an immersive action drama like TopGun. Overall, out visit was very enjoyable. Refreshments costs are eye-watering, as in all cinemas!
P. M.
Really nice cinema and lovely, old and quaint but could be used for a few more things but too posh to sort out stuff for anyone else.

Our local cinema, how lucky are we. Such amazing staff and always show our types of films.

A very enjoyable experience; we saw ‘Belfast’ last evening at Aldeburgh cinema, it’s a great film and it was so nice to be able to sit in very comfortable seats and uninterrupted views.
I was very happy that social distancing is still being maintained and empty seats between groups of people. That’s admirable as whilst waiting in the foyer I noted a few people being turned away with a ‘ sold out’ sign displayed. Very friendly team of staff, good range of refreshments and the schedule of up and coming movies looks interesting and I certainly will be returning to this excellent cinema.

Fantastic little cinema, very comfortable seats, with plenty of room to relax and watch a film or theatre production which often get streamed there too, great sound and clear line of sight from any seat.
A large range of snacks and drinks, extremely friendly, polite, and helpful staff. Was thoroughly impressed with the complete experience, will definitely vist again.

Excellent old cinema. Very pleasant ambiance
G. M.
Great cinema, comfortable seats and though we didn't buy any all the usual food and drinks available in the foyer . Lovely art deco interior lighting too
R. C.
Lovely old cinema on the High Street with very comfortable seats, fair prices and well-chosen films.

Such a shame that a cinema as old as this one has no control on their own ticket sales! What's the point of the website asking you to choose seats when they're going to allocate you seats wherever they choose. At £8.50 an adult ticket you should have more choice. And the staff.....just chill will you! You have a plastic barrier in front of you so don't stress if i take my mask off so you can hear!

Really sweet but quite large cinema. Extremely reasonable ticket prices too. Fabulous comfortable seats, just a little short of an armchair. Not a bar but a kiosk for sweets and soft drinks. Definitely worth going.

Staff are very friendly and the range of films on show is great. Covid measures are logical and easy to follow. Seats could be a little more comfortable and it can get pretty chilly so bring a jumper :)

Good selection of films on offer most days. The foyer is overall quite average but not many great snacks, crisps etc. The toilets, I am afraid, are not in good condition and look unpleasant. The actual cinema is very nice. The seating is comfortable and there is a lot of space. The screen is reasonably large yet for some seats it is hard to see as the screen they are in such an awkward angle. My only complaint with the seating is that there is barely any foot space and it is hard for elderly to leave the rows. Wouldn't particularly recommend but I wouldn't advise someone not to go to this cinema.

Very nice cinema run as a charity and suits the town. Auditorium is picturesque, it is long which is unusual these days so can seem a long way from the back but is fine once film starts, the racking looks shallow in the middle but is at least OK at front and back so no heads in the way. Very comfy chairs altho no cup holders. Ticket price very fair. Small bar with plastic wine glasses/paper coffee cups etc. A plus is they tell u what time the screening finishes on website.

What a wonderful place to experience the cinema. Lovely setting, people and other cinema goers. Comfortable seats, reasonably priced food and a great screen and audio. Not bad for a 'Kinema' that's been doing it for 100 years. If you are in the area, do your self a favour and go watch a film here.

Visited this cinema to watch a film with the family and it's amazing. Super friendly staff, gorgeously comfy seats, yummy popcorn and a brilliant digital screen. Really lovely experience and far better than any chain cinemas.

What a lovely place. Fabulous to see the locals supportive of this. Nice bar, really helpful staff (helped me look online to find where my holiday accommodation was earlier in the day). Interesting range of films. Comfy. Use it or lose it.

A rather old fashioned cinema. I love going there. Audience mostly well behaved though some, I suspect, forget they are not watching telly at home sometimes. The upstairs studio isn't so good though. A plain flat floored hall with uncomfortable chairs.
S. P.
Beautiful, elegant old cinema showing an eclectic mix of the most interesting movies alongside blockbusters. Just love the atmosphere. And it's so convenient!
C. F.
This small, quirky cinema is soon to celebrate its 100th birthday. Clean and well run with lots of atmosphere. Single screen showing a range of films including new releases.
L. B.
Lovely small cinema. Staff very helpful and friendly.
O. Y.
Decent quality facilities and humble staff.
Seats get a bit comfy if you're tall and not much back support. Volume was a little loud TOO at times.
A. W.
Great cinema lovely staff. Like Cinema's used to be many years ago :-) just nice to go somewhere bit unique.
J. S.
Very small local cinema that falls behind the times with movie releases. Prices are expensive. Popcorn comes from bags and isn't freshly cooked so is cold when you eat it.
A. K.
Great cinema experience, feel recognised welcome and well looked after. Building is accessible with a "secret" accessible loo behind a curtain, much appreciated!
P. P.
Great place to watch amazing documentaries,I highly recommend the Aldeburgh documentary festival with its screenings and informal guest appearances from diverse medias.A rare occasion to see rare international documentaries in a very friendly setting. Highly recommended.
