Reviews of WWT Slimbridge

Loved this trip so much we became members. Fantastic day out for families, couples or on your own. Its a leisurely half a days walk around the wetlands. There's an outdoor cage at the far end to break up the walk. Lots of benches in quiet spots and lots of gorgeous birds to watch. And feed in some areas. If your brave... the geese are a bit excited when you have some bird food to give them!
D. M.
It's such a lovely place to visit. I loved the goslings. So cute, I managed to smooth one while it was eating seed. They sell bags of seed for £1.50 and I had plenty of enjoyment feeding the geese. There was the odd one that preferred to grab your hand instead of the seed but it didn't hurt 🙂. I sat on a bench near the flamingo for lunch. It was so peaceful. There is plenty to see and adults and kids will enjoy it. I'll keep going back time and time again.
E. L.
A lovely day out. Very accessible for wheelchair user and those with buggies. The price of hot drinks for the size was a bit steep otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Staff were knowledgeable when doing the talks or being asked questions.

What an amazing place this is! Excellent wetland centre where there is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy, from family visits, day trip tourists, educational visits, serious bird enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, nature & environmental students, this place has it all. Good cafe & gift shop, diverse array of bird species, environmental projects, estuary bird hides, attractive designed lakes & ponds, rain forest wildlife plus much more will together easily fill a day's visit. Annual membership is great value for unlimited visits, especially if local to the area. Highly recommended!
L. M.
What great day, grounds very well kept and animals were well looked after. Large area and lots of walking as the wetlands animals have lots of space. Was a little expensive on food so being your own lunch.
G.
A lovely day out for all the family. Lots to see and do. Nice to be abe to fed the ducks, geese and swans. Food is available to buy for £1.50 for a decent sized bag.
Very well laid out with good paths, good for buggies and wheelchairs.
Good all weather attraction.
E. P.
A wonderful place to visit and explore on either a sunny or wet day. A very wide variety of resident and migratory birds to see at any given time and brilliant for photographers (several good hides for spotting and photography in addition to the more open spaces). Little ones and big ones alike can also feed the birds with grain from the desk.
L. C.
Lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Baby loved seeing all the birds, and I loved the otter; there was an informative talk at the otter enclosure too.
Flamingoes were a real highlight.
Free parking and £15 entry was acceptable. There were good facilities throughout.
C. T. L.
Awesome Wetlands centre, thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning. Warm welcome and friendly onsite staff. Amazing variety of birds to see for children, family and your more serious wildlife observer. Fully recommend.
R. A.
A great place to visit and time well spent. This wetland has attracted an interesting selection of birds and is attractively laid out with plenty of seats and a couple of cafe areas in which to relax and enjoy the surroundings..
M. S.
Beautiful wetlands and plenty to see. The wildlife are friendly and inquisitive. The otter enclosure is wonderful. The otter is called Ha ha and is absolutely charming. Feeding time is at 11:30. Well worth a visit. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Fabulous day today with two of our grandchildren courtesy of Boundless. They had so much fun and the activity packs and freebies were excellent. Thank you for a wonderful time.
P. S.
Good place for a day out or to spend few hours with family. Big space for walking and to wonder around to see all lovely birds. All birds are kept in a good environment and spacious for them to fly around. They could have more varieties of birds like parrots, macaw and all other birds .
Points to improve: More variation of birds, entrance fee is expensive, cafe is poor.
I been to this place twice and it always interests me, but their cafe is not up to the standard. They don't have much options except sandwich and panini's.
A. W.
An excellent place even in colder weather, with a ton of wildlife and plenty of information about all of it. Walking round you'll come across no end of new birds, and all the paths in the main park are wheelchair and pushchair accessible. I would absolutely recommend!
C. M.
I cannot recommend this place enough, we went on the land safari with head Ranger David. He was so interesting and knowledgeable and made the 2 hour trip a brilliant experience. Buzzards, Harriers, Kestrel, Heron, Curlew and Crane to James but a few. The wonderful work to save and protect the Nene and of course beautiful Flamingo.
L. B.
What a great day spent here. So much to see here. I have been coming since I was a child. Pack up a picnic and head this way as it will take you all day to see whats on offer here.
There is such a variety of birds 🐦. They are still making new area's of interest so look forward to a revisit next year.
G.
Had a lovely day with the family here today (Children aged 7 months, 2, 3 and 11). We were here 6 hours before realising that the day was getting away from us! You could easily spend a whole day here.
We signed up for the membership as it worked out cheaper than paying to visit, and we live locally, so it seemed ridiculous not too.
Everytime we go, it just seems to get better and better! We particularly loved the Crane talk today!
R. R.
Surprisingly good. Very clean. Lots of wildfowl and walks. Loved the amphibian section. Play area is lovely for toddlers but could do with extending for bigger kids. My children were just about entertained enough and managed to spend 3 hours there. Entrance fee was abit steep. Never been before, glad I went, but would not be in a rush to return any time soon if you see what I mean. Definitely worth going once in your life 🤪
M. N.
We last visited Slimbridge in 1977 so could see many changes. Well laid out areas, all clearly marked with very comprehensive information boards. Lots of hard work and dedication has gone into making Slimbridge what it is today.
L. H.
Great day out for the family, every season is a different experience with birds migrating to and away. Worth bringing your own food and drink with you unless you have a spare kidney for the cafe
L. P.
Wet and miserable 🤣. However a must visit place. I got alot out of this place even in off season.a real safe heaven for birds. Eco friendly and can see the project in hand. Friendly staff.
However I must visit in summer as I know it will be totally different. It was nice to be quiet but in Summer I feel it will be busy. However everything about this place will just come alive .
I'm really glad I went out of season.
Up date visited yesterday June wow. Little babies, flamingos out. Flowers beautiful. Think I will try every season as its a place of bird heaven.
E. T.
A great place to visit alone or with friends and family. Lots of different attractions and birds, there is a cafe with good food options and canoeing (extra cost).
M. H.
Visited her on the 10th January.
I joined WWT well worth it.
Great experience from the start plenty of parking, staff at all levels excellent customer service.
I will go again book a nearby b and b one day not enough for me.
Iv been birdwatching since i was 6 now 60.
Saw Sir Peter Scott in the fens as a boy he inspired me.
Great cafe shop good selection.
I did tour of Peters house enlightening.
Cant wait to go again.
J. B.
Fantastic day out! We got there as the doors opened and left just 30 minutes before closure. Lots of birds to see even though many of them were still safely tucked away because of the bird flu break out, it was good to see disinfectant mats at the entrances and exits to keep the other birds safe. I’ve seen some reviews on here about the restaurant which are quite recent, and would agree that the choices were limited, and the service was really slow. As a result we left the main restaurant and found somewhere else further in where we got hot food and a drink which were spot on. The highlight of the day was the safari, which was hosted by a very knowledgeable man called David, for the additional small fee per person it was by far worth every penny. I’d recommend Slimbridge to one and all, disabled access is good and there’s a huge play area for children.
P. H.
Had a lovely day at Slimbridge havnt been there for about 20 years and we were very impressed with all the new buildings and activities that are on offer. Have taken out annual membership so many more visits to come.
F. R.
Went during half term holiday..very busy, car park full. However except for the areas near the playgrounds it was still very peaceful.
A. M.
New welly boot area (new to me) is excellent. A man made stream with synthetic grass and purpose built dams which you can remove or install at will, allowing a buildup of water to flow. All landscaped with trees shrubs etc. Children splashing with their waterproofs on ( the more bold with shoes off in February) and running round playing Poo sticks, how ingenious, brilliant. Three year old grandson loved it but make sure you do the dry bit first👍
My only criticism would be as I needed a mobility scooter to negotiate the premises when my wife phoned to book this facility the person on the phone was quite adamant that no booking was required and when we arrived there was concern that there would be no vehicles available, so beware. 😩
K. S.
We saw so many variety of birds we havedmt seen before! We saw several different pelicans, very strange looking southern screams, coscoroba and black necked swans, Orinoco geese, shelducks, avorcets, a common crane, south Georgian pintail, emperor goose, black brant and a combed duck. You can easily spend the whole day walking around the place and stopping at various hides. A 10 year old child showed us some interesting birds and we were stunned by his knowledge!
J. S.
It wasn't what I expected and fair bit was closed off, no explanation given for it! It was £15 adult entry and took 5 hours to walk around whole thing, many hides to watch from. Kingfisher kiosk, no visible pricelist, ordered 2 cornish pasties and a coffee and was taken aback at the £13 cost!!! The person I went with then proceeded to share his pasty with the geese an ducks! Coffee wasnt to his taste and was a good 10 minute delay waiting at kiosk, so pasty wasn't too hot by time he finally got coffee and joined me. Gift shop was out of my budget £45 reduced from £65 for a swan scarf, which was on the designers website direct for £50. £6.95 for mini water bottle flask, which we did pay but rather expensive for what it is!
G. C.
Brilliant day out. Lovely place to spend a few hours. Membership is such fantastic value.
So many things to see, do and learn.
S. T.
First time I have visited, picked a nice fine early spring day. Lots of unusual wild fowl Very tidy well looked after site with many hides for serious bird watchers. Lots of play areas for children. I will return later in the year when there are more young birds and pond life.
I. W.
Absolutely amazing, visited on boxing day, so missed the crowds, however was surprised how many people had the same idea, spent most of the day here, and still believe we missed lots, good job we signed up for an annual pass so we can visit whenever we like. 10 out of 10.
K. J.
A very special place to visit which does incredibly important conservation work. It makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable day out. Spring highlight - seeing all the goslings and ducklings.
S. H.
Haven't been here since a school trip 40 years ago. Certainly modernised in this time, plus added bonus of some WW2 pillboxes. I only took videos of the wildfowl - my wife particularly liked the Avocets.
R. M.
Kids love it - good play area and very educational. You can easily spend a whole day here no problem with the kids and there are plenty of options for food with snacks, meals, ice creams etc.
Highly recommended visit, kids go every couple of weeks and never get bored.
Keep your eye out for the flamingoes!
C. F.
Fantastic day out, saw a pair of kingfishers in the hide which was amazing and also lots of birds I had never seen before, highly recommend this place
L. S.
Dont expected to paid £15.95 for entrance fees per adult..bit expensive, if you want a book of map, get ready another£3.50.. if you like wildlife birds, worth for you to visit. Overall, nice to visit, not many birds during autumn. Plan and check the price before you go. Restaurant- typical tourist price.
D. N.
A lovely day out free wheelchair hire that was much appreciated. Great walks and views can't recommend enough.
L. R.
This is probably the best wetlands park I have been to. The layout of this vast expanse is well done, with some really brilliant and I formative installations, almost as soon as you walk into the centre, the hides are well located and easy to access and the setting by the Severn estuarine mudflats means that you're guaranteed to see all manor of wetland birds migrating North or South. We abooked onto a fantastic 2 hour bird safari, where we saw Buzzards, Hobbies, Kestrels, Harriers, Cranes, Herons, Warblers, Oyster Catchers, Chiff Chaffs, Winchaffs, Egrets, and Godwits. We also booked a tour of the Scott's House which gives a good background on Peter Scott and his ingenious plotting forager bird sanctuaries and World wildlife funding across the globe. The staff here are very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly, can't fault it in anyway. Definitely worth visiting most months of the year!
C. T.
Loved it. A great day out with lots of beautiful wildlife and SO much to learn. All ages are catered for here and membership is an absolute bargain (with the added bonus that you are contributing to a charitable organisation!) HaHa the Otter is still my absolute favourite animal at WWT Slimbridge 🥰
I. A.
A wonderful day wandering around in the second half of March, just in time to catch Bewick's swans before they migrated to the artic tundra. Caught sight of snow geese, avocets, barnacle geese, and flocks of widgeon. Also saw a spoonbill wading through the wetlands with its head sweeping from side to side as it searched out its prey. Magical.
A.
Fabulous experience, so much to see at this wonderful place. Great to view all number of birds in a natural habitat. There quiet places as well as popular ones. Learnt so much about the different species. Well worth a visit.
K. W.
Wonderful place! My toddlers and I absolutely afore coming here! I signed up to a single membership for myself (kids under 5 are free) and on my second visit, my father in law came, loved it and signed up. On our third visit my husband came and we upgraded to a family membership. Its about £8 a month for all of us and we visit most weeks! Parents- pack wellies and waterproofs on damp days or suncream and towels on sunnier days as wellyboot land is fantastic! We sometimes visit just for a splash, to feed the birds and have a Marshfield ice cream. Every member of staff we meet is friendly, knowledgeable and openly passionate about their role - including so many amazing volunteers! We love visiting the nae-naes and the antarctic area. We pretty much love everything! Our 11 year old loves coming along too! The canoeing is awesome! I honestly love Slimbridge!
K. P.
Just keeps getting better.
It's a shame you can't currently fees the birds.(due to avian flu) but still a great day out.
A. R.
Fun for kids and adults. My husband grew up coming to Slimbridge so it’s always great to visit again, now with our children. Although bird flu means you can’t feed the birds at the moment, my children looove feeding them when allowed. Wellyboot land is brilliant too, even when the water is turned off. Useful information about the birds can be found in each area. It always makes for a good day out. Only negative is the expensive cafe, so we have to make sure to take our own food/drinks.
L. H.
Be aware Unable to feed any birds due to bird flu. Which ruined the experience. Rude lady on the reception admission till. Nice day out overall shame mist of enclosures where shut.
B.
Lovely place for all age groups and abilities. Ideal family outing. Interesting range of bird life. Kids were well entertained with multiple activities. Well worth visiting. Consider membership for the best deal. And you'll be supporting the foundations outstanding work. Enjoy!!
C. S.
As always a lovely day out. Friendly staff and a beautiful place to see the birds in a natural setting.
S. C.
Loved being able to walk among the ducks, geese and swans. Guided tour of Peter Scott's house was well worth it.
M. E.
Going to Slimbridge on a warm, sunny weekday during school time was a wonderfully rewarding experience. You can learn a lot about waterfowl, if you like, as there is such an abundance, or just amble around taking in the beautiful sights and sounds. Very very relaxing! Sitting in a quiet hide resting your eyes on the extraordinary vista is a marvellous way to soften some of the sharp corners of city life!
A. L.
Really enjoyed our visit and was surprised how clean and big it was. Staff great too
I. A.
Great day trip for the whole family! Huge range of birds and lots that you can feed! The flamingos (all 5 different types!?) are incredible and there is so much to see across the whole site!
A. D.
A great place to go for a day out for both young and old. Beautiful walks, a vast variety of wildlife and fun activities for the children. We will definitely return in the near future.
S. H.
Really great place for kids and family. A must go if you're craving some quality time with loved ones. There will be network issue inside the venue but that has its own perks and cons :)
Enough parking space, convenient to get to. Sweet cafe places inside for quick bites or a nice cuppa with flamingo entertaining you!
Friendly staff and fun canoeing experience!
L. P.
Excellent day out. A lovely place with plenty to see. There are 2 playgrounds (bring your wellies, swimsuit or a change of clothes for the kids welly playground), a really nice cafe and plenty of toilets. We enjoyed the science show and watching Ha Ha the otter's feeding time. Lots of great wildlife and wild flowers.
g. t.
Great day out,if you appreciate birds from this country & other parts of the world. Younger children really seem to enjoy it. Very reasonable prices for food & caters well for vegetarian & children. Ace ice creams with many flavours!
F. B.
A pleasantly surprising space which caters for all ages and abilities.
Lots of spaces for children to play all around the park. The Welly World area was a big hit. Plentiful, clean facilities and helpful staff.
We didn't try the café as we picnicked on one of the many tables, but we've heard good things about it.
If we were local to the area we would likely look to become members.
J. a.
Really enjoyed our visit, there is something for everyone, family activities or spots for quiet birdwatching out of the way, helpful volunteers in the hides. Better than expected, spent all day could have spent longer. good cafe too
H. H.
Wonderful visit to Slimbridge... fabulous day out. Saw the otter who was very energetic rolling in the water and popping up. Lots of baby gosling and ducks. Great Crane out on the marshes viewed from a hide, and several in large outdoor enclosure which meant you could see them really up close. Pelican chose to vote and visit up close. Great place to visit. Staff and volunteers all so knowledgeable and helpful.
H. B.
Visited with group of disabled people. Was very impressed how easily accessible everything is especially for those in wheelchairs. Cafe lovely and cool on such a hot day lovely gift shop. We were provided with separate area to have our lunch as we were on an organized trip. The only fault I have is there should be more toilets scattered around the park. Had a great day
M. A.
Brilliant family day out. A very well executed and informative experience. We will continue to visit regularly.
S. H.
If you like waterfowl and a tranquil spot for some holistic reflection then this is a place I'd recommend.
v. c.
Excellent day out... the otter talk and feeding was very enjoyable and informative.
S. B.
Visited with a 2 year old and we both got great pleasure from the visit. There were lots of geese with goslings and swans ran across the water and took off over our heads. There's an outdoor playground and indoor (tiny) soft play. Also frogs in tanks. If you are near enough (or would visit several times), the WWT annual membership is great value and there are venues across the country
J. R.
Great day out with the kids! Lots to get involved in; feeding the geese, ducks and pigeons outside the visitor centre a big hit! Canoe hire definitely recommended, we saw a pair of kingfishers and had a peaceful hour or so on the canoe. Food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced.
R. H.
Wonderful place so much bigger then expected, had a great day here wellie land was loved by my granddaughter so well thought out.
Amazing to see the geese flying in in formation something I will never forget.
O. E.
Wow. This place was just brilliant. Bit of a hidden gem.
Plenty to see and lots of really interesting and scenic exhibits. You can learn a lot without really trying.
Took 3 youngsters with us. They loved it. The flamingos are stunning. Great collection of amphibians in the centre and a just brilliant play park with running stream to splash and play in (pack wellies and change of socks).
There were two school visits when we went but there's so much space it was still lovely and peaceful.
Go visit.
L. A.
Another fantastic experience with young children (3 years, and 7 months). They loved wellyboot land, and it was lovely to see the new Nee Nee exhibit open! Friendly staff and well organised.
C. J.
Great for bird watching, however due to bird flu presumably there isn't much collection birds about and the restaurant is now more of just a cafe, not really much in the way of hot food, most options available are cakes... No flamingos to see next to the restaurant either and service is exceptionally slow. Recommend bringing a picnic instead to eat in a hide
D. C.
Beautifully managed wetlands area with a diversity of original interesting areas and broad range of wetland birds to be seen. Fabulous area for small kids to play, safe, fun, but they need wellies. Cafe, shop and a range of outdoor hides overlooking various habitats for the more serious twitcher. A really great half day or whole day out.
S. A.
Perfect day out! Highlights were the new Mission Possible exhibition (with stories about the amazing rescue of the Madagascan Pochard - incredible!) and the views from the Estuary Tower and Summer Walkway...and not forgetting the Chilean flamingos stealing the show! You don't have to have kids or be a big birder to have a great day out - it was our best day out in months
G. E.
We had a wonderfull day at Slimbridge, it took us 4 hours to see everything,,a stunning day out
C. G.
Luckily enough to live nearby and I make use of my membership which is good value several times a week. Each visit there is always something different to see, the staff are hardworking, knowledgeable and friendly and I can't think of any part within the site that isn't wheelchair accessible other than reaching the end of the summer walkway. 10/10
R. C.
Fabulous sanctuary for birds mostly. Two lovely play areas for children, we hired a canoe which was good, Reece who was very helpful at the canoe centre is brilliant many thanks to him for helping a couple of oldies! The kitchen had a good selection of food & the staff kept it all very clean. All the staff are super I highly recommend you visit this great adventure centre we will be back with the grandchildren
S. H.
Wildlife is very important to me, especially birdwatching.
Slimbridge is the ideal place to visit for anyone interested in the natural world. With its fantastic bird hides, great staff and very knowledgeable volunteers, it has so much to offer.
Not only is it good for birdwatching, it’s brilliant for learning. With a large selection of collection species, and activities for families it can teach lots about wetland conservation.
Take a trip and see for yourself, it’s well worth becoming a member of the WWT as I’m sure you will want to visit regularly like myself.
M. R.
Great place to see bird life close-up. This place has been expanded and improved tremendously over the past two decades, embracing a much more holistic and rewilding approach to wetland/wildfowl conservation. Very inspiring, good value, family friendly place with some lovely quiet, hidden away corners of the reserve to explore. Fantastic views from the estuary hide, overlooking the river Severn. Highly recommended.
R. M.
I visited by recommendation.
This place is way bigger than anticipated. Has several playgrounds for children. A lot of different animals and creatures. They do a love demonstration of the wildlife during the day. Several options for food, drinks and snacks with plenty of seating. Many different hideouts for photographers. And a big gift shop with plenty of options.
M. H. W.
Great Day out, if you like Birds & Wildlife
Spent many hours there, nice and peaceful. Loved the flamingos.
J. J.
Went with grandchildren. It's well set up to appeal to all ages, with a watery play area, interactive talks, as well as the bird and wetland display areas. Visitor centre / reception is a very well designed space. My personal recommendation - bring binoculars if you have them !
Would go again if in the area.
J. S.
A great experience for birders and the interested amateur alike. Quite pricey but we stayed there for 5 hours so got our money's worth. The canoe safari was a highlight as were the cranes, kingfisher and spoonbills.
A. C.
Lovely day out, you're going to need a full day to see it all. I took my disabled son in his wheelchair and Slimbridge has really done an excellent job of making just about everything accessible
M. N.
Been coming here for over 45 years. First time in ages today. Fantastic birds, loved the animal talks. Only downside was the food. Very expensive, and the queue took a long time. I enjoyed the cake immensely. still a lovely place 💕🍰
S. P.
Staff were incredibly helpful and keen to talk about the birds. Really appreciated the accessibility of the site as it meant my Mum could go everywhere with us despite being on a mobility scooter. Even got to see a Stone Curlew (with the help of staff at the top of the Estuary Hide) A fantastic day out, thank you Slimbridge.
R. A.
Great place if you are a nature lover. Loads of different birds to see, also frogs and otters. The welly play park is brilliant for the kids if you don't mind them going in the water
m.
Was good, plenty to see, some great views and some good work done on renovations of the area. Volunteer staff were very friendly and helpful and enjoyed the visit
L. L.
Amazing place. Absolutely loved it, am planning on visiting again soon.
T. R.
Great place to see so many different kinds of birds. They have been doing lots of changes since I last went which my children really enjoyed.
S. R.
Lovely setting...although looking a little tired in places. There was lots to look at and had a lovely day dispite the fact that No kiosks were open which made the day some what disappointing.. and being May bank holiday you'd have thought it would all be open ready to trade . GUYS COME ON! Would have been nice to be informed so people could plan a picnic etc. Restaurant was open but not everyone wants to sit in a crowded restaurant.
J. W.
We spent 4 days there. We were moored on the canal nearby so joined as members to get our money's worth.
We can recommend the Peter Scott house tour (free but book on arrival) the landrover safari (book on arrival) and the canoe safari. We would like to return in winter. Get to the cafe early as they seem to run low of choice for sandwiches when we were there
J. B.
Take the kids, first class entertainment for younger children. Plenty to see and do. Lots to learn, great presenters. Lots of places to rest, to picnic, to enjoy scenery and nature. Go there
n. s.
We were lucky to meet a man who told us all about the Ne-Ne, a goose native to Hawaii and it's demise to near extinction. He told us about the rescue programme and he was so passionate about it. Lovely man and excellent work being under taken by Slimbridge. The Ne-Ne are a delightful breed of goose. Thank you Slimbridge. We happened upon you by chance and we will never forget our visit. Noel and Celia

Wonderful day walking amongst Wildfowl today. Slimbridge is such a great day out for the whole family. Marvelling at the variety of nature
D. A. W.
Unusual place, very chilled, great for bird lovers. Nice water play area.
C. F.
Great place to walk around and enjoy learning about some birds. New areas added since last time I had been. Little also loved the splash area.
C. Y.
Lovely place for a day out fully reccomend it.
K. H.
Kids loved it, birds are almost tame and happy to be hand fed, big fun and lots of open space.
A. M.
Great day out. Fab foe small kids and adults alike
C. S.
Wanted to visit as passing on the canal and I've heard so much about this place over the years. Admittedly it's the wrong time of year to see many migratory birds but there didn't appear to be much information around about the history or what could be anticipated in other seasons. There were a few large boards with simplified info but we felt it was largely aiming a families in school holidays. Tour of Peter Scott's House was very interesting, I can't imagine still using a 1950s kitchen! This made the entry fee feel more justified. We are probably spoilt by all the wildlife on canals.
R. E.
Busy but still pleasant to stroll or mobility-scooter (mine hired from WWT) around. Plenty of birdlife..
and we all liked the otters.
The young grandsons were happy to play in the children's play/adventure area while we had a cuppa from the outdoor snack kiosk.
On return to the main entrance building, the family went up to the
observation/viewing area, then we had a snack in the pleasant main café/restaurant. I returned the mobility scooter to the helpful reception staff.

A wonderful place whether birding or taking grandchildren just to have fun but the two don't fully mix in this world of fast feedback. Hope to instill something in each of them and diced in each of their own ways
C. K.
A nice place to spend half a day in the open air. Plenty of more common birds that you can feed using seed sold by the centre. Lots more unusual birds in separate enclosures. We found that staff were happy to help with any waterfowl questions that you have.
S. S.
Friendly welcome. Very helpful and knowledgeable team of people. Peaceful setting and naturally lots of wildlife to see and enjoy. We'll worth a visit
M. S.
All year round great to visit. We're members, so get to see different things during different seasons. We'll worth the money for membership of you live within 60-90 mins.
J. E.
Amazing place. Children are always excited to go there. Whatever the weather.
D. P.
A large open space with lots of wildlife including flamingoes, geese, swans and even otters, a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion, would visit again
N. S.
Up close with the birds...great day out!
S. N.
Rare and common birds love this place and keep visiting year on year. Great layout, good cafe and lots of birds to see. I'll be back, just like the birdies.
P. M.
What a great place, it's massive and beautifully laid out. This was our first visit here being regular visitors to Martin Mere and Caerlaverock. Looking forward to our return visit.
J. P.
Rather disappointed. We visited on our way back home having been several times before.
We wanted to see the Kingfishers. When we got to the hide, the bank where the kingfishers nested was completely overgrown and the river was completely overgrown too. The shame was the hide had been replaced a few years ago and is beautiful. The rest of the day we saw the Cranes and spoonbills.
The centre was lovely as was the restaurant.
I am sure there was a good reason for the overgrown banks and river but the walk there was in the hot blazing sun and very uncomfortable.
S. W.
Lovely day!
We all enjoyed the wildlife, there are so many varieties of birds here. Never seen a flamingo in Gloucestershire! Lol!
We fed the birds, fed ourselves as well. Tired out the boy with lots of walking, and just to be sure let him go on the playpark and then get soaked in the welly land water park. Canoeing was a great fun hour.
Only thing I would say is the canoeing, you need to put up direction signs in the water so you know where to paddle, to the different areas, that are on offer. When I looked at a map we missed a couple of areas we would like to have seen, as we went in circles and didn't know where we were or where some of these areas were, this is only a minor criticism but didn't detract away from the fun.!
We will definitely visit again.

We went to Slimbridge to get some fresh air and a walk away from our usual surroundings. We knew some things were shut due to Covid but we had a realty great afternoon. It was busy but not too busy, there is plenty of room for everyone. A lot of the wildfowl had chicks and it was great to see them wandering among the people in a safe environment. We spent 2 hours there, normally we stay longer but the Covid closures meant there wasn't so much to explore. We felt refreshed, a bit of escape from the confines of lockdown. Once it fully reopens later in the month we will be back. Highly recommended for anyone. Lots for kids to see and do and plenty of places to sit and breath in nature at it's finest
K. L.
The original Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust centre. This is a beautiful location, with committed staff, innovative management and attractions for all ages and levels of interest. New layout of oaths and signage and areas are worth visiting.
L. C.
Not great value unless your hobby is birdwatching. We enjoyed a few off the exhibits but found it no different to a local botanical gardens or country walk with some birds and a heft entrance fee
M. W.
What an amazing place this is, I've never seen so many different birds, the best thing is the area is free of transport noise, all you can here is birds searching for food.
I would recommend this place for a visit.
N. A.
Absolutely loved it. Went on a trip and must say it was fun and again I loved it just as much as the children did. Would highly recommend and would definitely go again
J. W.
Such a peaceful place to watch the many birds that visit here.
C. H.
A good place to take children and for adults. The hides were closed due to covid measures in place but the larger viewpoints are open. Pre booked tickets only atm
J.
Love WWT Slimbridge have been a member for a few years now. It's really a nice way unwind with your partner or a good day out for the family for me thats nieces and nephews. Food can be a bit pricey but decent.
A. H.
A lovely place to visit with the family. Plenty for children to do, including welly boot land and feeding the ducks. Lovely range of swans, geese and flamingos within easy reach of the entrance. You need to walk further to see birds such as the kingfishers. Lots to keep the family entertained for a few hours or whole day. Great wheelchair access and accessibility. We really enjoy eating in the Kingfisher Kitchen restaurant overlooking the flamingos.
K. J.
Had an amazing day day out with the grandkids. When we pulled up the queue was huge. It took us over 45 mins to get in. When we got in it, it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. The covid measures were very good.... I would highly recommend going here for a full day of memories. But take a picnic as it can be expensive while your in there..
U. M.
Great day out. Fun for all the family. Lovely birds and staff very informative. Booking online so they can monitor numbers in attendance. Plenty of hand sanitiser around. Limited food at kiosks, may be best to take a picnic.
L. P.
We are members so always wanted to get to Slimbridge and had a lovely day. Didn't enjoy food. First ever view of Cranes. Will come again when next in Gloucestershire.
P. N.
Great day out for the family, our 4 year old and 2 year old loved feeding the birds round swan lake and then spotting the many bird species throughout Slimbridge and ticking them off in the guide book.
P. B.
Excellent day. Went on the safari - well worth the extra. Really good guide and saw Marsh Harrier and Hobby. Very special.
D. B.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. You'd never think somewhere so amazing was literally on your doorstep.... brilliant place for children
G. C.
Regularly take the kids (10,5,3) here on an annual membership
Staff are always friendly, welcoming and engage the children when we arrive
Kids love it here. Happy kids = happy parent 👍
C. E.
Slimbridge is a wonderful place to visit, for the whole family. Very good facilities, well positioned toilets and restaurant and booths at places where people congregate, like Welly Land, where children can play in water. Come with swimmers or a change of clothed. They will get wet. The children's playground is well worth a visit. With it's good toilets and snacks and drinks place. It's right next to a wooded area where children can extend their play. There are even canoes which you can hire for £7.00 for an hour, they take 3 people. The stepping stones by the flamingos are always great fun. Take shoes and socks off in good weather or wear wellies, otherwise there will be wet shoes. A lovely place to visit for families and serious bird watches. There are lots of special bird watching places with hides to set up cameras and binoculars.
S. M.
Perfect for children, it has sightseeing, interactions with the birds, and even a wellington boot play area, what more does a kid need? The environment is generally really nice, and natural. There weren't many staff members around to talk, however due to current pandemic situations, it makes sense as to why. Instead the staff are located mainly in the building. Covid regulations don't seem to be enforced when you're outside, however indoors you are expected to wash your hands, and wear a mask. You are also expected to wash hands after feeding the ducks and birds, although this is normal because of disease etc. The prices for things are generally really good, it's not overpriced for tickets and birdfood. The bird there are great too, a huge range of things, even including otters. I think it's perfect place for anyone to visit, and even better if you have kids.
s. a.
Had some lovely birds and a large variety of flamingos and swans especially, slightly disappointed all the hides and aviaries were closed but understandable with covid regulations still in place. Unfortunately the day we went was quite cold and wet and there wasn't anywhere we could go to warm up and the cafe was closed due to a staff shortage that day. We were probably just unlucky that day but unfortunately it didn't inspire me to go back. The birds however were beautiful and very well looked after.
R. D.
Excellent facilities over extensive grounds. Friendly and helpful staff. The new Estuary Tower hide gives fantastic views over the river Severn and surrounding wetlands. Always something interesting to see and do whatever season you visit. The guided tour of the Scott House museum is very interesting and lasts about one hour.
w. 6.
Fantastic location, so many different species. Hides are excellent. Pretty easy to get away from the crowds. Perhaps a disappointing retail premises.
G. H.
Love it here,so much to see and learn.
Quite busy with school visits but a great place for children to learn about birds and conservation.
M. L.
We had a most enjoyable visit. There were 5 of us, 3 adults and an 11 and 14 year old. We all enjoyed feeding the birds and the younger members of our party particularly enjoyed spotting all the different varieties of flamingo. Even though the weather wasn't brilliant we found lots of things to see and do including spotting all the lego animals around the site. We can't wait to come back next year when the new attractions should be open for general enjoyment. My friend's children were surprised by how much they enjoyed their visit as they were a little on the reluctant side to start with. A good afternoon for all of us.
C. F.
Lovely day out with my grandchildren, unfortunately we left a back pack behind. I really some kind soul handed it into lost property. Went back up the next day and spoke to George on admissions who took my details and was going to let me know.
M. B.
Beautiful place to get some walking done. ❤️
A. J.
Such a wonderful place to visit with the kids. Really enjoyed the day exploring and seeing all the wildlife they have there. Definitely recommend going here if you have kids.
M. S.
It's really great here. It's massive, with birds from all over the world, including several I've never seen before. Kids enjoyed it; lots to do and a pleasant restaurant.
Buy tickets in advance — it's 10% cheaper.
N. S. (.
Covid secure, plenty of space, wide paths. The twins enjoyed feeding the feathered residents in the permitted areas. Grand day out exploring birds, otters and other open displays. The kids enjoyed discovering the Lego sculptures too.
S. O.
Lovely little day out. Bring a picnic and arrive early for all the daily activities. Plenty of water fountains & washing facilities.
A. P.
Fantastic few hours out. Enough space for everyone, people respecting others' distance, nobody in the shop, plenty of birds to see. And we didn't even get that wet 😂😂 the Lego sculptures are awesome!!
N. W.
Enjoyable day out, although I'm not a birder it was good to see many birds that I will not see elsewhere. A well stocked shop and reasonably price Café
A. G.
This is a fantastic place. You walk around a very nice well kept wetland with 1000s of birds to look at and enjoy. You can buy a bag of bird seed to throw to the birds and some of them will even eat from your hand. It's a very nice walk to so in the summer with some shaded areas. They have several hides to sit in and enjoy the wildlife. Would highly recommend this to anyone who likes birds or just wants a day out. There is also a wide selection of flowers to look at and enjoy.
D. T.
Beautiful place, if weather is good. Good for adults and kids. Restaurant was clean. Easy access for all abilities.
Rem to bring wellies if going to wet outdoor playground, which has a water stream and water fountains for kids. There's another outdoor wooden playground which is good for kids too.
Can feed the birds if pay £1.50 for bird feed.
Entrance is a little expensive.
R. I.
This is a nice place to visit. Lovely open space and plenty of birds to look at. The flamingos and cranes were great. Oh yes and so were the otters! Prices are reasonable (don't forget the giftaid) and the cafe was good.
My advice is definitely go and take binoculars. There is a look out for kingfishers but you would need binoculars to see them.
D. L. M.
Lovely family day out, plenty to see and do with special attention to younger kids, we had great fun on the canoe experience but at only three to a boat family's of four have to decide between two boats or either mum or dad staying behind, café is reasonably priced and offers very good food with lots to choose from. With free return visits for members it's a no brainer for school holiday entertainment!
M. R.
This is a great place to entertain kids for the day. As well as all the birds to look at and feed, there are also playgrounds and a welly park for them to splash around in.
There is plenty of parking available, however it can be a bit tight when reversing out if full. There is also a good sized overflow car park/field.
Next time we go we will be packing a picnic with us as the cafe prices are astronomical! £2.70 for a can of drink!
P. F.
I had a really lovely experience here with my family. It's a great day out with the opportunity to stretch you legs and learn about nature. The staff clearly care about the animals and conservation in general. Nice food in the canteen and a lovely gift shop. Will definitely go again!
S. W.
Had a great day out with my husband. Was great to explore the grounds, the atmosphere was lovely and to top it off the weather was perfect. To finish the day we went into the cafe which was delicious although a bit pricey. Other than that it was great day out!
S. M.
Super day out with lots to see and learn
C. H.
Visited on a wet and windy weekend in June. Staff were friendly and the bird life was very impressive. A great place to get into bird watching and a lovely place for family visits.
Highlights are the kingfisher hide (if you are lucky) and the otter enclosure/talk.
G. W.
Fantastic place. I really enjoyed feeding the birds. £1.50 for a bag of food, but the birds loved it ! I enjoyed the food and spent about £10 for a couple of hot drinks, 2 cakes and a sandwich. Kind and friendly people. I would recommend a visit here!
K. M.
This place is excellent to either pop in for a couple of hours or spend all day. It's a relaxed place very good cafe all staff are very friendly. You can purchase seed to hand feed some of the birds. Great place to visit.
M. S.
Beautiful place to observe wild birds but also otters and small animals (mice, frogs).
Unfortunately time when we visited (20th Sept) Observatory and few other places were closed. Few other places are under construction works..
S. S.
2nd visit here just as good as remembered it. Went on on the safari tour well with it. Knowledgeable and informative driver and his assistant very good
m. j.
Very impressed. So much better than we ever expected. Will be going back to see birds when their young of hatched. Great day out. Was a 60th birthday treat for my husband and he loved it. Along with my 17 year old son who also got engrossed in feeding as many birds as he could with his £1.50 bag of seed. Plenty of birds to see and feed of many variety . Great memories of smiley moments. Flamingoes were fabulous. Also impressed with the art gallery on entering. Great work.
D. H.
Outstanding bird sanctuary started by Sir Peter Scott in the early 50's. Look out for his house on the site. There are lots and lots of different types of birds from all over the globe in one place. Cost about £12 to enter then another £2 for a one hour talk around part of the site. There is an Otter show twice a day and a room for amphibians plus much much more. At least two children's play areas. Large carpark outside, as it is a well known place and well used. Large shop to buy presents and a large restaurant for coffee and cakes or a hot meal. Well worth a visit
D. A. (.
Fantastic place for seeing a great variety of water birds from all over the world, superbly laid out , also has plenty of bird hides for the keen bird enthusiasts. Kids would love as you can buy bird food & feed them.
90% of it is wheel chair friendly.
P. J.
Calm, interesting, relaxing, informative and accessible, the perfect place for watching birds in their habitats. With added axolotls, harvest mice and otters! A huge shop, lovely café and an interesting tour of Peter Scott's house bookable online
a.
I cannot tell you how much I adore this place. My partner and I visit regularly, often on Sundays, to relax and unwind. We are members so we can come in for free, the staff are incredibly friendly, shop&cafe prices are good, the animals are incredible and sweet and happy to come up to beg for food, and the range of activities to do (although a lot are either kids related or only mentioned on the website, e.g. swans supper) are really good for a day trip. Very happy to recommend this place.
M. C. o. t.
I visited this place on a school trip and we had a fantastic time. Our children really had a great time doing a pond dipping. They loved seeing baby chicks and lots of birds free in their natural habitat.
D. S.
Great place for a day out as family or with guests, well maintained and a great variety so nearby. There's also a nice baby changing facility which is always a must for families with their little ones. This is also the first place I saw an axolotl without going to Mexico as well as various types of flamingos.
R.
Beautiful day. Good and helpful staff. Good talk on WWF abit long an hour and a half plus long winded questions 2 hours in all. I couldn't sit through it again. Great to see the swans and flamingos. Nice to by lunch and sit outside, mash potatoes like dough.
a. g.
Plenty to do and see for the family for a few hours. Food and drink reasonably priced though entry fee could be better value
E. S.
Love to visit with my son, we can go abit crazy there getting back to nature. The food in the cafe is also really great, there sausages are delicious. Always friendly staff to help as well which is nice! Hard to walk and see everything in one day tho, there's alot of ground to cover!
S. P.
The facilities were really good. There's good parking, toilets and sheltered areas. Plus an adventure playground.A cafe and restaurant with great views of flamingos in their lake! There's an otter hide with feeding experience times. The flamingos hide is spacious. Lots of wild ducks from around the world. Gated off sections, so you just don't know what's around the corner! 'Toad Hall' a wonderful idea, showing amphibians in various tanks. This includes toddlers play area too.
S. S.
A great day out, even with covid restrictions. Plenty to see and do. Helpful staff, some who volunteer. A very cheerful place to be. We all need cheering up at the mo, so come on people, this place needs our support. 👍 👍 🐦
C. P.
Great day out if you have an interest in wildlife. Huge selection of birds to be seen and the WWT do so much work to make sure these birds are kept going. Would advise taking your own food though as the cafe is expensive (although quite good) and the snack bars had no hot food available at lunchtime on both days I visited. Improvement required there.
T. R.
Where else can you see not 3, not 4, not 5 but 6 yes 6 different types of flamingoes in one location?? Lovely day out, the only downside was that the only indoor eating area is the restaurant which is currently only doing main meals so there's nowhere to go inside if you just want coffee and cake etc.
S. W.
Absolutely a top day out for the whole family. Spent several hours there and still did not cover it all. The boys enjoyed hunting for Dusty's ducks around the site. Great finish in Wellieboot land where a fund time was had splashing around in the water. Otter talk also kept them interested.
d. H.
Enjoyable sunny day but mid-april lots of the new attractions aren't open yet and was a bit disappointed that so many things were shut off off but visit it's a wonderful place. There was one poor man in the canoe cafe serving a queue of about 20 people at 1pm which I think was rather silly
S. M.
Beautiful. Loads to explore, Welly Boot Land was a hit with the kids, great day out.
J. S.
Nice place for walking even you’re not a big fan of birds. The kingfisher kitchen is clean and well organized for COVID-19 but don’t expect too much for the food they serve.
J. M.
Visited a couple of times for a family day with our toddler, who very much enjoyed feeding the ducks, geese, and swans. A great children's play area, open spaces, cafe, ice creams. And flamingos.
W. J.
If you are introducing children to wildlife this is a good place. It is perhaps a little expensive but the proceeds go to wildlife protection so it is worth paying.
They could do more with main entrance rather than the empty space, but they may do so, just not when I have been.
There is an abundance of swans and children love these big impressive birds.
C. A.
Good signage led us to the car park which was adequate and well marked. The visitor centre was clean and tidy with good spacing and sanitising facilities. Food and drink was promptly served, good quality and reasonably priced. We enjoyed a walk around the lakes and found the pathways clean and well signed, especially bearing time estimates to reach certain other parts. The surrounding land areas appeared well maintained and very tidy. We were pleased to see a huge variety of species and in such good health.
S.
Great venue for a kids day out if they like nature. I went in January and there were loads of birds to see. Not 5 five stars because there's a lack of toilets outside the main building.
D. T.
A brilliant place to view all kinds of birds.
They also have some nice otters :)
Been here a couple of times and enjoyed it both times.
Food here is great if you are hungry and there are some nice park areas and educational for the kids.
The only small issue i have is you have to cross the canal bridge and if its busy you can end up in a que waiting to cross over. Not so bad if your not rushing.
N. L.
Well layed out areas with plenty of hides to watch birds & lots of areas in between to see many more Ducks , Geese, Swans & Flamingos etc ...
A really great Canoe safari (Easter to September only) which at £5 per person for an hour we felt was fantastic value.
Play & learning areas for kids plus a large shop & a modern restaurant ( where my only problem lies as it needs more clearly marked Vegetarian/Vegan food ! ) .
All for a good cause helping Britain's wildlife.
B.
A magical place!
I have been here a couple of times and every time have had an amazing experience. This the the place it all started with Sir Peter Scott who is such an inspiring character. Visiting his house on site with tour guide Mary was certainly one of the highlights. We got to learn a lot about this amazing man who brought WWT to life. We stayed at Tudor campsite a 15 minute walk away which we also highly recommend. A lovely place to visit.
J. F. H.
A MUST if you are a bird lover. A national treasure which is helping wildfowl everywhere. A good day out for all ages. The cafe has improved in its layout and is less noisy.
D. M.
Really enjoyable day out. Hand feed wild fowl all round. Even saw a kingdisher from kingdisher hide which was brilliant. Just take cash as card machine in kiosk half way round is not good so cash only most of time. Lots to see and feed. Plenty of different flamingos too.
E. C.
A large wetland sanctuary housing many different species of endangered waterfowl with a small handful of mammals and amphibians too.
The main building is large and clean, with an impressive observation tower. There are several outdoor structures and hides if the weather is poor but plenty of space for the birds to roam free if they wish.
As Slimbridge is a WWT site, entry is not cheap (though not extortionate either), but it is clear that the money goes to the care of the animals.
J. B.
So I'm not really in to bird watching but this place is so accessible, great to go for a walk or a nice environment to have a coffee and do some work... And you can even see some birds!!! I happened to take the kids today but would definitely recommend it :)
b. h.
Was a great afternoon. Ideal for those with walking aids as its flat. Pity the trees and fauna were not marked up as that would have complimented the areas of beauty.
n.
Lots of baby chicks around at the moment
M. S.
Wonderful selection of birds, both local and and visitors from all over the world. Good guide notes, wheelchair access friendly for disabled and elderly, tasty fresh snacks and children loved the splash pools. Will definitely visit again in the summer.
A. C.
A perfect day out for young and old.
Majestic wildlife, friendly and informative staff and such a wide variety of birds.
Even when it is a wet day, WWT Slimbridge proves an enjoyable romp, especially if you like being chased by over friendly Geese.
S.
A great day out for all the family - and you get to help nature out too ! Lovely gardens & wandering wildfowl are next to wild nature reserve areas with bird hides. As well as the nature, there are two play areas for the kids too ! Although there is a nice restaurant on site, when I was there, hot food wasn't served after 2pm - as the kitchen was shut (?) Regardless though, very friendly staff with a large shop full of goodies help make WWT Slimbridge a 5 Star attraction 😀 !
P. S.
Such a great place to visit and sing a superb work of conservation too.
L. M.
Excellent day out, highly recommend a visit.
Very good value for money and alot to see.
Perfect for kids yoo as there are alot of activities to keep them occupied along the routes.
F. S.
Ok if rather expensive place to spend a bit if time. Looking a bit tired and the 60s concrete is not a good look. Still some interesting birds to spot. The food provision is woeful and grossly overpriced . Take a picnic or stop off somewhere else...even the motorway services offer look attractive compared to this.
K. H.
Lovely place to visit. There are talks at certain times about the different wildlife. Also the birds and animals were all free to roam around and seemed in great conditon and seemed well looked after.
M. T.
Amazing place to get up close with the two otters, lovely walk around to see many different birds/ducks as well
J. H.
I visited for my little girls birthday and both her and my toddler son loved it. Plenty of birds present to watch or feed as well as having other wildlife attractions like the otters. The play area kept the kids entertained as well as wellie boot land which is great for kids that love to splash around.
The facilities are pleasant and well maintained by staff with ample parking onsite. The only downside I can think of is admission, which can make it an expensive day out but the family annual pass seems good value and will consider purchasing this next time to be able to use all year round for the price of 2/3 trips, which I can easily do to make it worth it.
r. a.
Great place wonderful wildlife so much to see and do really good place to bring your family. Good parking good disability access. Has a nice cafe to eat thou the prices are rather high.
P. C.
Great day - off your birding I recommend the Ziess and South Lake Hides.
Thanks for knowledgeable and really helpful staff.
D. D.
Such a wonderful place. A great educational resource for all, and a lovely day out.
K. M.
Friendly helpful staff, phoned me back promptly for answering my questions, avian flu has affected what's on show but still plenty to see and photograph
M. C.
I have been going to Slimbridge for over 40 years, at least once a year for most of that time. It did much to ignite my interest in nature, and it has helped to sustain that love when music, girls and football took greater hold. For birdwatchers it is a place of pilgrimage, but it is also a lovely place for a family visit. I look forward to many more visits to come.
D. M.
I've been here probably over 20 times and each time is an absolute pleasure. Plenty to do with kids: a splash zone, an adventure playground and canoes to hire. There is often events, special "experiences", and workshops like den building and treasure hunts. If you are a serious bird watcher then the hides are excellent.
If you have limited mobility you shouldn't have any issues as everything is on the flat with either ramps or lifts.
At the time of writing they are building a large open air theatre and a walk in aviary.
Finally, there is a really pleasant atmosphere and the staff are helpful and very knowledgeable.
J. K.
What an incredible place. First time I've been for years and not disappointed .
So we'll layed out, clean and tidy, well managed. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Will be going back again.
N. G.
Great staff, and a real family oriented reserve. Something for everyone, thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
J. M.
Lovely little place for a walk, lots of different birds to see. Nice gift shop and great facilities, also disabled friendly which is a bonus!
E. R.
A lovely place for a day out - the restaurant seemed a little bit disorganised in terms of the Covid 19 restrictions and took a while to seat us, but the food was good and the rest of the day was excellent.
R. S.
Great place to see the wildlife and keep the kids entertained also. Good cafes and play parks.
P. W.
Excellent visit. Would rate higher but was disappointing that the restaurant closed at 3pm so not able to get tea for our grandson.
W. L.
Great place for a day out there are cafes and lots for kids as well. Coffee stops. Enjoyed lots of walking around
R. C.
A beautiful spring day is early in the year only added to our excitement as we walked around the Slimbridge WWT site. The play area was a welcome distraction for our young companion. We all enjoyed using our 'Eye Spy' book recording all the varieties of wildfowl. Haha the Otter was also a delight to see. Well worth a visit or two.
h. s.
Fantastic as always. I went with my 1yr old and although we were not aloud to feed the birds this didn't bother us as she was more than happy with the little soft play and swing in the playground. It was very quiet as it was midweek so it was lovely havong it pretty much to ourselves.
R. W.
Great Family Day Out. The kids loved feeding the birds by hand and the canoe rides are very good value. Tip: Book online before you leave the house and you get a discounted price
R. M.
If you enjoy nature and particularly wild birds in a great setting this is the place to visit. It is also great for young kids, with two outdoor play areas.
I. S.
Great day out for all the family as well as dedicated bird watchers. It can get quite busy in the school holidays. Don’t let this put you off though, once you get away from the main central walkways you’ll find it quieter visiting the many hides around the perimeter.
M. O.
It was not quite what I expected in that there are captive birds in aviaries as well as those free to roam. Also some exotic species such as the various flamingoes. Quite expensive as I am used to Wildlife Trust nature reserves that are free to enter, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable time
R. D.
Great day out. Keeps the kids busy and lots to see. We have the membership which is great value for money . Have been twice already and will go back again soon.
S. M.
A really good day out. Lots to see and for young and old. Best WWT I have been to.
Enjoyed the otter show and watching swans and flamingos
R. J.
Great place for kids. Lots of wildlife in its natural habitat. Welly boot land is great in the summer heat or in welly’s in the winter. Lovely play ground as well.
K. W.
Lovely chilled day, nice cafe with decent food. Lots of free parking. Just sit back and observe it all.
S. F.
Lovely day at WWT Slimbridge looking at the wildlife and finding the sculptures. The new cafe/restaurant is very nice. A fab day for the children or adult.
h. a.
Lovely place, really nice to spend some time there
T. C.
Love this place, I have been a member for years and I still enjoy going several times a year. Always being updated and something new added, we did the Jeep Safari last year and it was great fun, lovely place to relax with family.
J. P.
A very enjoyable visit with my husband son & granddaughters age 3 & 7, they had great fun finding the yellow ducks & seeing the young birds, the weather was a beautiful spring day.
C. H.
Walked three and a half miles round Slimbridge on a nice, sunny but cold January day. Found it very calming and even though some areas were under 'maintenance' and some birds penned inside we still found plenty to keep our attention. To have credibility with other visitors you need a massive camera lens plus accessories round your neck. No refreshments available in the wildlife areas on this day but the cafe/restaurant in the visitors centre was open. Good toilet provision on the car park and in the centre.
M. M.
Beautiful and serene, WWT Slimbridge offers a great way to see wetland wildfowl and other wildlife in their habitat. WWT carry out fantastic conservation work and the reserve is an amazing place to visit. Highly recommended.
I. B.
A fantastic day even included seeing a Kingfisher for the first time, ever. I have been to Slimbridge a few times over the years and there is always more to see . Avocets, Ruffs, what a wonderful day.I will be back again. Thank you
G. D.
Had a lovely time here 1/4/19. Sun was shining nicely which made the afternoon even better. Loads of beautiful birds and lovely frogs to see and a gorgeous otter.
N. B.
Amazing place for a day out somewhere not too far from Bristol. My step daughter loved it. Bring hat, sunscreen and water it could be really hot to walk around. Definitely bring your own picnic or food supplies the kiosk is very very small and very far and there wern't many things available to choose from. The cafe in the building was ok. Becasue they have the very cute play area where you could just have a picnic relax whilst watching the children playing along the stream so I wouldn't bother going to sit in the cafe for that.
T. G.
Slimbridge is a great family day out. My one-year-old loved looking at the different birds. Cafes and shops are reasonably priced and plenty of places to picnic.
J. G.
Such a lovely place, so many birds and wonderful scenery and a nice cafe. Quite pricey entrance fee but still worthy every penny.
M. R.
Fantastic place for a visit, you can easily spend a full day there.
A couple of the walks were closed but still masses to see.
Will be going again later in the year.
E. H.
Very good day out for whole family, not too busy and you can still get hot and soft drinks there and food
j. g.
Was a great day out and easy to walk around with a wheel chair. Beautiful birds and grass land. Will be visiting again.
G. E.
Could easily spend whole day here. Beautiful scenery and easy to walk round. Ideal for disabled people as flat and easy to negotiate. Ducks roam freely so might be slightly frightening for small children but still worth a visit.
n. L.
Amazing place! Anyone interested in bird watching or wildlife will enjoy it. Kids will love it!
D. K.
Great fun a little bit smelly but a fun day out see pictures 🙂
M. A. (.
Lots to see and great scenery and a great place to take lots of photos.
A. G.
Nice place to walk around. The Aviary is definitely worth a visit.
Recommend packed lunch as cafe prices are extortionate and admission prices not cheap either.
A. G.
This was my first visit here ... Though it was not the ideal season for migratory birds ... I loved the place... Enjoyed watching geese chicks and the coûte and the Moore hens!
N. P.
Not that we know anything about birds we took our grandchildren there and they were both entertained and interested. Well worth a visit - food was fine although not much choice and we did have to stand in line quite a while but don't let that put you off.
H. B.
Lovely experience for a day out. Became a member and children loved the bobbing eiders! Only thing was food was hit or miss & gone down in quality and up in price since early 2010s
L. W.
Helpful staff. Good visit to Peter Scotts house. Knowledgeable guides. All facilities clean and covid aware. Birds beautiful. Going again soon.
C. J.
A fun place for the littles with lots of different bird specifies and some otters!
Welly boot land is also a fun place for the kids and is enclosed and safely tucked away with a stream they can play with, picnic tables, two slides and climbing frames for the older kids. We love coming here with our annual membership
M. A.
Great place to visit, lots to see. Lots of new things since last visit.
P. S.
Nice place but ridiculously expensive to get in for what you get. But that's England I suppose, everything totally do is overpriced. Also still a lot of work being done for new enclosures, would be better value when they are finished.
m. n.
What can I say, its a great place to visit as a couple or family. There is a play area for the kid's and picnic areas. I would recommend anyone to go.
s. p.
Awesome day at the wetlands, fantastic variety os species, will definitely be back 👍😁
E. G.
Always a pleasure to go here, come rain or shine there is something to do, everything from splashing in puddles for the kids through to bird watching, canoe safaris and feeding the otters!
Never a dull visit
B. R.
Lovely place to go, really peaceful in places.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I would definitely go again

Loved this place! Such a great day out, kids had a great time, well maintained place and plenty to do.
S. M.
Highly recommended for a enjoyable day out in nature. Lots to see and do. Good for bird watchers as well as kids.
S. T.
Another great walk around Slimbtidge, well organised to cope with virus restrictions. Leaves turning definitely heading into the fall. Fascinating watching the wildlife even the otters were showing off today.
L. C.
Well set up for latest regulations. Good accessibility for disabled. Happy birds and thoroughly enjoyable day (apart from weather).
R. T.
Great place for children &adults lots to see . Pushchair friendly.
If your planning on going a few times within the year definitely recommend a membership which allows you to visit the other sites across the country.
C. D.
Great for a day out with little children, being members means we visit a lot more often and see the birds at different times of year. Cafe is nice, but pricey.
R. N.

An amazing place to visit.
C. C.
Lovely place!!
A real place for family outing.
Make children cultivate to become animals lover.
A. S.
A must for bird lovers. Slimbridge has a large collection of exotics including lots of flamingos and a very comprehensive selection of ducks. And some otters. For those more interesting in watching wild birds there are lots of hides covering a wide variety of habitats and attracting many different species through the year. The visitors centre is welcoming and the staff very helpful.
D. H.
A must see for the family. Very educational with exceptional layout and facilities. Nice walks and plenty to do for the entire family.
P. A.
It's an interesting and educational place to visit, take time to identify the many birds species and appreciate the effort and dedication of all involved in preserving the wetland for the wildlife.
J. M.
Great variety of ducks, geese and other water fowl in a range of different environments. Good café.
l. w.
Had a lovely day our with my young son being out in the fresh air and aslo took a pinci lunch
Price I paid was about £26.00 as one adult one child
S. C.
Fabulous place, loved being so close to and seeing such a variety of birds. Very informative.
j. p.
Wonderful place to walk around and see the different wildlife
c. r.
Very big and lots of open spaces , lots locked off so only four stars instead of five .
m. a.
Is a glorious place to visit for the birds, the layout and play area’s, the walk ways beautifully arranged the only problem was the kitchen restaurant its over price, variety poor, food poor , cutlery dirty, childrens box meal very poor indeed, at lunch time they could not even complete a childrens box meal yet still charged full price
N. L.
A soggy November day but still a great visit. Wasn't expecting so many wandering geese but thats what happens when you get people to feed them. Even better, discounted admission with CSSC
A. D.
Superb day out. Huge variety of birds and experts in many of the hides to help you spot the rarer birds. Bird watcher and photographers delight.
T. P.
Always an amazing day out at Slimbridge. Staff are fantastic and my granddaughter loves it.
M. P.
Lots of Pigeons and Gulls, oh and quite a few wildfowl, swans and Flamingos, the latter, seem very exotic for British wetlands but, a welcome splash of colour.
M. H.
Fantastic place to visit load's of different birds to see. We took a container of seed to feed the birds as the bag you can buy isn't very big. There are places to eat however we took a packed lunch as there are lots of seating areas. Fantastic place for children to learn about wildlife.
R. W.
A great place for all lovers of waterfowl. Good facilities and well set out. Staff polite & helpful.👍
P. D.
I love this place so much i bought membership. Great for kids and adults. Places to picnic. Awesome must visit to see all the birds.
H. P.
Great day out. Suitable for families and bird watchers. Order tickets online for cheaper option.
M. S.
Really enjoyed our visit here. Appeals to different groups. Lots of family activities but also very enjoyable just for adults.
A. H.
Such a lovely day out for the whole family with thousands of stunning fowl to see swans .geese. flamingo and many other breeds of wild birds
F. m.
Fabulous place gor the family to visit, lits for the kids to see and do, beverages quite expensive, might be good to take your own food and drink
D. M.
Lovely place to wander around and see the birds and other animals. Play park for the children.
T. L.
A great day out for adults and kids alike . Not cheap but we found it very good value. We arrived at 9.30 and didn't leave til 5.30. A thoroughly enjoyable experience all round. Don't miss out on canoe safari, well worth the extra £7
D. M.
Absolutely stunning place to visit with a large selection of birds to see. Very nice walks around the site
D. B.
Great day out. Lots to see for adults and loads of fun things for the kids too
3. i.
Expensive entrance fee. Cafe expensive and limited menue.otherwise not a bad day out. However the inferstructure needs improvement.fences ect.
D. S.
nice place to go with children. incredible during the summer and some play areas and even a picnic with friends.
great for professionals looking for best picture of birds
J. M.
Great day out for all the family. Fantastic, open setting and lots of birds and wildlife to see and enjoy. Highly recommend.
G. O.
Good family friendly facility! Lots of birds and other water animals to see definitely worth a visit!
A. S.
Lots of birds! Birds are the easiest animals to spot, actually it would be impossible not to see any, both the ones in their pens and the wild ones, but there is other wildlife too both in pens and in the wild.
Slimbridge has a large outdoor area with activities for kids and adults, or for those that like a sit down, lots of hides to watch the wildlife from, although most hides are a bit cold in winter due to people having the windows open to make it better for their cameras, telescopes, etc.
The bigger hides often have staff to give advice or help identify or locate things.
If you do get cold or hungry, there is a big restaurant in the main building serving good food and a shop to browse around.
M. P.
Lovely wildlife reserve that is a good walk round to have a packed lunch in one of the hides. Best value is to join annually if you are a family and it saves after just 2 visits. On summer there are kayaks and jeep tours up the estuary. Would recommend for a nice trip out.
D. J.
This was my first visit to Slimbridge WWT and I am looking forward to returning later in the year when hopefully there will be more things to see and do. I did the tour of Scott House which was really interesting and gave a good insight on Sir Peter. The restaurant wasn't too badly priced and coffee was good. A good day out.
T. B.
Great time at Slimbridge today, relaxing peaceful places to spot wildlife, otters, flamingos and more, loved it
D. K.
Free parking, brilliant facilities for families and elderly visitors, and serving a great cause!
K. N.
A great place to visit if you like birds, so much to see from the hides and in the many ponds around the site.
The hides particularly can get very busy so I would always advise arriving early.
A. J.
Always a good day out (or few hours of you are a member). Plenty to day, always work being carried out by the fab staff to keep the surroundings new and interesting.
J. W.
Lovely place but unfortunately not all areas open due to covid restrictions so not as good as our last visit pre pandemic.
J. B.
Lots to do,loads of space.. food quite expensive but LOVE the eco friendliness of everything
A. A.
Excellent as always. Been a member here for some years now. Worth every penny
J. B.
Good for children with play areas and plenty of birds to feed! Flamingoes wonderful, otters adorable! All cafés now open.
C. B.
At first I thought it was a bit expensive but, on walking around WWT Slimbridge it is very well maintained. A great place to enjoy wildlife and for photography.
H. G.
Lots of birds, geese and ducks flying in and out during our visit. The public were not allowed to feed any of the wildfowl and the flamingoes were inside for the winter. Although it was a cold day we enjoyed our visit
P. B.
Brilliant experience! So much to see!
s. h.
Amazing amount of different birds 🐦 and wildlife, well worth a visit.
A. S.
We have a family membership here as it is a lovely place to take the kids, see the birds and let the kids play.
K. T.
Lovely place - great for a walkabout and see many types of flamingos and also other birds like spoon bills. Then walk around to sit in all the bird hides they have- WWT guys had binoculars in one and we were able to see Cranes- brilliant. Great coffee and cake too. Great for all ages and abilities. Totally recommend this place for a lovely day out.
A.
More like a Wildlife Park or an open zoo than Rewilding: good for families.
M. B.
First ever visit & pretty sure it won't be the last. For a amateur photographer like myself this place is perfect for capturing wildlife in a natural environment
S. R.
One of my favourite places on earth. So much to do for young or old. Staff are always welcoming, helpful and informative. We love welly boat land and feeding the birds. Indoor areas are also great if the weather turns. Only negative is cafe is expensive
E. V.
We had a lovely day out. Cost for a family of was was £54, a little expensive but I guess the price does support they great work they do. Plenty of things to see and do even on a wet and windy day. A little disappointed with the food in the onsite cafe, rather pricey for the quality of food
T. E.
Fab place to visit. Very reasonable for a family day out. Don't forget to buy your bird feed on the way in!
S. M.
Great day out it just to spend a few hours. Got to feed some Nene's their lunchtime treat
G. C.
The cafe is reasonably priced and serves good food. The hides and viewing platforms give excellent views of the wildlife. There are areas of exotic birds within easy viewing. A really good place to visit.
A. P.
Slimbridge is a delight to visit at any time of the year. Well laid out pathways make access to most areas very easy although I think some of the hides (of which there are many) will be difficult for wheelchair users. It's a few years since we last visited and in the interim, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) have undertaken a lot of work to make the site more interesting and accessible. Of particular note for me is the new walk-through aviary and outdoor theatre - really nicely done. The whole place is very "tactile" for want of a better word - the birds are right there in front of you and often you'll find yourself walking through them. There's a fascinating variety of wild birds that migrate to Slimbridge on their own accord year after year so there's always something new to see no matter what the time of year. I just love this place.
P.
Nice things to look at but considering how much bird poo there is on the ground there could be more benches to sit at.
K. P.
A first time visit and very impressed.
Although we couldn't walk around everything due to the bird flu, so we thought the price was abit steep with what we couldn't go round and feel we missed alot of what there is to see.
S. A.
Lovely Day out 4 half hour's later brilliant
r. b.
A great place to take the family for a wholesome day out. Lots to see and do, but would recommend taking a packed lunch as the food is fairly expensive and a limited selection, if they have any at all! Lots of wildlife to see and play areas for little ones, wellies and a spare clothing is a must!
R. B.
Really good day out. Play areas and open spaces really good. Had hot chocolate and coffee from canoe lake. Really poor, long queue, no cards, no latte or cappocino and hot chocolate is probably worst I have ever paid for. So really good day as long as you avoid the refreshments.
S. L.
Great place for a full day out! Not just for children, but adults as well. A good way to plan the day is to check out their activities notice board at the start of the visit. They have talks/feeding times and shows throughout the day. Some of them only run once or twice, so its a good idea to ensure you are in the right place at the right time. The pink heron show was my favourite! Would go back more often if lived closer.
S. L.
Love Slimbridge! Always something new to see and the educational talks were great. Particularly enjoyed the pelican talk with this sassy character.
K. B.
Excellent set up all around, spent the whole day, walking and bird spotting,a large amount of types of birds, which will obviously change with the seasons,we have now joined, and will be returning regularly. It would be a 5 star review but the gift shop is very very expensive,if you have children, watch out,but that's not really an issue for us,but it does slightly let down the experience, there are a couple of items we would have brought, but they are twice the price of shops. On the plus side,it is great for walking, birding, photography etc,so,all good.
T. W.
Went there with my family. Great 4 hours with granddaughter, not packed and the food was very good from the kiosk .
N. 9.
Never get board of going here. A great day out for all the family.
C. R.
Decided to become members again and took our toddler granddaughter for the first time today. Had a lovely couple of hours. Luckily we don't live far away so can visit often. Our granddaughter loved feeding the birds. Will visit often and continue to educate her to love birds. If you don't live close I'd still recommend a visit. Check out what's going on before you arrive, if you can, to make the most of your day.
N.
A great day had by all, especially my Daughter who loves all things wildlife. Only drawback was the lack of food choice at the cafe, although cooked very well. Very pretty, well kept place, lovely walks. All birds happy and healthy and well kept which is what you expect but sadly not always what get. Would definitely recommend.
M. C.
Amazing place! Very informative and engaging. A must visit!
T. T. (. E. B.
We absolutely love coming here! It's a grest day out for the whole family. There is currently a Lego Workshop and Trail going on throughout the summer which looks absolutely incredible. My little one had so much fun taking part. Perfect place this summer holiday. Canoe Safari is a must!
a. w.
Such a joy to see all the wild life & the added attraction of the host of golden daffodils was beautiful.
R. P.
Great place to take kids but seems to have lost its main purpose
G. W.
A surprisingly lovely day out for the whole family (not the dog though as they are not allowed on site) and lots to do for all ages.
Can spend the whole day here and not just for avid bird watchers, definitely going to return as did not manage to get everything done.
Grrta access, mostly flat with plenty of seating throughout the site. Very easy to book online and costs quite reasonable - you can also get an unlimited pass which will allow access multiple times. We'll worth the visit if you haven't already been!
E. F.
A great day out for all ages in every weather. Don't forget to check out Toad Hall.
M. H.
A great day out if you want to photograph some rare (and not so rare) birds. A big expansion programme is taking place and some fascinating new attractions opening later in 2029
G. C.
Fantastic place. So well done. A bit expensive. The downside is that there wasn't a great menu choice and the tea was absolutely awful. For 3 adults having fish and chips and a child having fish fingers chips and peas cost us £46. The whole day cost us just under £100.
But the birds were amazing.
S. D.
We loved our day out there. Got young kids and the under 4s got in free. My youngest particularly enjoyed the welly park
M. H.
We had a wonderful day here, and will be returning!
L. M.
Great day out, great walk and bird life. Great for young families too
D. H.
Lovely day out at Slimbridge WWT. Plenty to see. We enjoyed the pond dipping activity and feeding the birds.
J. A.
Great place with plenty to see. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy everything, time just runs away in there.
T. C.
Wonderful day out plenty to see and very well kept restaurant could do with more choice food wise and slightly over priced
G. D.
Been members for years a perfect place for either a family day out or birding for the more decerning birders
M. A.
Lots of birds of course. Some vegan options in the cafe. A nice afternoon out.
G. K.
Always a fabulous day out here. It's great to see the continued efforts to improve and expand their offering to the public while keeping the animals they help as priority number 1. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of free parking. Lots to see if you're big on conservation or just simply love animals!
M.
Amazing day out. And I mean a great day out. We were there for 6hrs. It was very very hot.
One small complaint was the Kingfisher kitchen, firstly the had no menus up, second only one chef cooking, so there was at least an hours wait.
Shout out to Rosie in the Otter/mammal section really good Information, given with a cheerful friendly manner. Thank you Rosie.
The birds look happy and defiantly well cared for.
G. H.
Perfect place to see the outstanding work of the WWT, Peter Scott's legacy. Slimbridge is the headquarters of the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust and is their oldest and most famous reserve. As well as seeing a wide range of the worlds waterfowl including all species of flamingo you can see wild birds including Bewick swans and Whitefront geese in good numbers. WWT is one of the partners in the reintroduction of cranes to the West Country and some have made the reserve their home. These can be seen around the reserve throughout the year. The staff are knowledgeable and are pleased to help.
F. S.
If you like wetlands and the birds that live in them it's a must!
S. A. (.
Slimbridge is absolutely brilliant, a great day out for the family with lots of things to see a do, was definitely a hit with my granddaughter.!
J. N.
An absolute must for birders. As well as a huge host of clipped-wing residents from all over the world, there's also plenty of great wild species in the wetland around the park. Saw wild avocets, cranes, kingfishers and godwits. A great day!
N. “. G.
A place for everyone, pigeons are friendlier then the geese, brought the membership because I know I will be going back a lot more
L. L.
Wonderful place such a diversity of birds to see, good facilities, flat walkways make it idea for disabled. Plenty of spots to just sit and watch. Take a picnic and stay all day
D. T.
I've been visiting Slimbridge for probably the last 40 years. I've watched in change and grow into the lovely place that it is today. However, I'm struggling to reconcile the high admission fees charged. It's now over £50 for a family of four. This seems to be an awful lot of money, particularly as several attractions have been closed due to covid restrictions. The birds are fed (at least in part) by visitors buying seed, the various eateries clearly generate a good income. I can enjoy long walks and feed birds at very little cost. Can I suggest the introduction of family tickets or reducing the cost for an annual membership, as almost £100 is far too much!
L. H.
Great for education interpretation and fun!
Ticket prices are expensive.
R. C.
Great place, very nice walk with lots of wildlife literally right under feet.
L. L.
Really lovely visit. A bit expensive to go in for our family of 4, however you can buy an annual pass, the entry free will be deducted from it if bought on the day. You can also take a picnic or go to the cafe which serves quality food at a decent price. The experience with the birds was fabulous, found a walk down to a hidden tower weht up it and saw 5 cranes flying in, pretty amazing.
C. P.
Always a pleasure attending Slimbridge WWT. Especially at this time of year (early May) when there is plenty of new offspring waddling around ❤️
K. T.
Fabulous day . So interesting lots to see . Even the rain didn't spoil our day
M. L.
Great family outing, great prices (especially when getting 10% off by booking online!) Lovely day :)
M. M.
Great place to visit - both for casual birding and for more serious watching from the various hides around the site. A good place for kids to see all kinds of ducks, geese and flamingos up close.
A. M.
A great place to spend a day. You can go back again and again and see some thing different every time.
R. F.
What a lovely place to visit! All different types of birds to see and they even have big otters aswel which was amazing seeing them swim in the water. Fantastic place with friendly staff and volunteers who are all approachable and passionate with what they do! My partner has left very happy as he loves taking photos of all different birds! Will be coming again ❤️
R. S.
It was a nice one time visit.
K. H.
Great place to visit if you love birds or wildlife in general. Situated on the banks of the river Severn, there is lots of walking & lots to see.
K. B.
Nice easy day out; plenty to look at, lots of interesting birds to see, lots for children to do (our 2 and 5 year olds love wellie boot land), children's play area, ice cream! We went on a Saturday in half term and, despite anticipating craziness, it wasn't too bad. I think that now there are more attractions, it's easier to spread out or come back later. Understandably many of the hides were closed due to recent bird flu but they seem to be handling it very well with shoe cleansing pads throughout and stopping visitors feeding the birds.
W. O.
We have been supporters of WWT for many years.. Great activities for kids, a really good array of birds and they take their conservation very seriously...Good cafe too, with everything on a level access...
W. B.
I have been visiting Slimbridge since I was a kid. It is a wonderful place to explore. With only a packet of birdseed you can get up close and personal with swans, geese and ducks as well as a range of other beautiful birds. Canoeing is my personal favourite, exploring the maze of interconnecting waterways.
Only drawback is the queue for snacks/ice-cream. Painfully slow at times.
D. H.
Slimbridge is perfect for family days out and entertaining the kids and feeding the ducks.
I would give two main pieces of advice;
1. Take a change of clothes and a swimming costume for the kids - i dont think a lot of people know theres a water play area there
2. Take your own drinks - they charged me £1.55 for a can of coke and in the restaurant its £2.55 for a small glass bottle EXTORTIONATE!
R. L.
Great day out for all the Family. Corniche pasties were Amazing.
S. C.
Was frequently ambushed by families of geese begging for seed, if you don't mind getting up close and personal (and possibly mugged) by water fowl, this place is for you.
H. J.
The Lego trail was brilliant. Every child will love this! My 3 year old nephew certainly did.
A. S.
Sizable venue with lots of birds to see. The site is grouped by continents, with A LOT of flamingos to be seen :)
R. C.
Took our 2 year old grandson he loved it
S. N.
The history of this is Interesting and there were birds everywhere - obviously! Informative and making a difference. Staff lovely and restaurant not too bad at all.
J. B.
An update today, October 2021 and a slight annoyance.
Most modern venues have contactless entry and modern QR Code cards that can be added to phone wallets. This venue still relies on outdated magnetic strip membership cards. Also members have to queue for entry with those paying on the day, meaning longer waits.
Major update today, 16 November 2019.
New Estuary Tower with excellent disabled access opened today. Replaces old Holden Tower. Ribbon was cut by Mike Dilger, Naturalist, who appears on One Show.
We were in the first group of the public to enter, and I added new photos and videos.
A placid day amongst tamed ornithological delights.
A. K.
Nice day out, well worth the visit!
S. K.
Went on jeep safari. Very interesting learnt alot. Well worth the money
M. C.
Haven't visited in a few years, lots of changes since for the better, really enjoyed it
k. l.
A great day out with the family, lots to see & two good play areas. The downside I felt was seeing as the entry price is quite substantial I expected more from the cafe, only a handful of expensive hot foot choices.no sandwiches or snacks on offer, not great for families or those not wanting a big meal.
r. D.
A wonderful experience, am so glad I became a member. So much to see. I love Slimbridge!
P. J.
Great day out, staff were friendly and helpful, huge amount of birds both collected species and wild seen for tge first time, planing my next visit
P. A.
A great place to see nature close up
D. H.
Good place to see birds and wildlife, love the flamingos and otters
M.
A great venue definitely get your money's worth on a trip out
J. W.
A visit here is always worthwhile and WWT Slimbridge is looking good. Plenty of migrating and resident birds in occupation & a useful refreshment kiosk on the way round conveniently near wellyboot land for the children.
W. J.
safe distance family friendly birds a d plants fresh air and exercise.
T. B.
Most definitely a full day out now as this place is massive and can cater for all disabilities and able bodied. No telling what you are going to see whilst walking round. Our day consisted of a rat picking dropped food from a bird feeder 5 different types of visiting geese. Cranes and greenfinch redwing and golden plover to name a few, Fallow deer and an outstanding dog fox in impeccable condition hunting and catching its meal. Certainly a good visit with ample parking and nice clean toilets which nowadays is a must.
S. S.
Brillant day out 4 all the family especially if u enjoy nature
P. M.
We last went here some 4 years ago. We were astounded how the place had changed for the better, with various habitats covered, along with an eye for detail. We'll done all those who work there who have made it such a wonderful place. I'm coming back as a duck in my next life! 😆
A. E.
Have always loved going here. Find it very peaceful and relaxing.
Loads to see and the guided tours are a must.
Loads for kids to do as well.

Saw so many crazy birds that I didn't even fathom existed. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable it was great to see the passion in their work. Thought we would only spend a couple hours here but ended up staying all day!

Lovely place. Just not a lot of picnic benches for picnic lunches.

Slimbridge WWT is a brilliant place to go with all the family or on your own, the layout is very clever and includes several types of landscapes of the world. An amazing amount of different species of birds to please any bird lover. Really great for kids too. A real treasure! Go and see.

A great day out for the family or a keen bird watcher. Bring a picnic and sturdy shoes (or wellies).
£1.50 for a bag of bird seed to feed the swans, geese and ducks is well worth it.

Fantastic centre and so many birds to tick off in the book. Friendly staff and will definitely be back

Pick you day if taking youngsters. It was too cold for us after an hour but soft play was a great success . Some of outside area closed due to avian flu so check website to make sure it is the place for you.

We have a membership and it is a lovely place to visit in all seasons. Over lockdown they seem to have invested in new displays which has paid off, there are lots of points of interest for all ages. The children love the small soft play, Wellyboot Land and the play ground as well as feeding the swans and geese and exploring the teepees. What lets the whole place down is the service unfortunately, take flasks, drinks, snacks and picnics because not once have I ever been there when there have been enough staff in the kiosks or restaurant. The restaurant is limited and very poor value for money (wouldn't mind the prices if the portions and quality were decent). Staff also do not operate in an efficient, customer focused way causing lengthy queues at peak times. Don't let this put you off visiting, it's a lovely place but don't bank on there being takeaway cups in the kiosk after a 20 min wait for a coffee.

Absolutely fantastic day out. Lots of birds to see. If you take out a membership, you can go as many times as you like!

They've added more fun stamp challenges for children to engage in more educating facts, found it interesting myself and kids loved it

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Abundance of hand sanitiser. Lots of activities to occupy the kids including a tick off the birds activity book. When you need a rest there’s plenty of benches and refreshment stands. These are strategically located near to the kids play areas so while you take 5 to enjoy the scenery the kids can play and of course enjoy some ice cream.
Wheelchair, mobility scooter and pushchair friendly.
This place is always improving its facilities and ever time the family and I have been there always something new to see and do.
