Absolutely delightful place. A bit cramped when coming into the venue but the layout was great, seats weren't great for long sitting but no seat is in theatres. Definitely a great service and the ice creams are amazing! Definitely worth a trip or two and a great atmosphere overall!
M. H.
Although it's not the largest of theatres it has a great atmosphere, very varied plays etc, we've not been for a while due to covid, so was nice to get back last Saturday, always friendly helpful staff and reasonable prices.
C. P.
Staff are excellent! Online booking system works and if anything goes wrong you can talk to a real person. Parking is £1 and right next door. Shows are always excellent. They send the right amount of emails too. All that, the ice cream is delicious and the chairs are comfortable.

Went to see (or have) a Bob Dylan experience. I love the theatre but this act was just a routine. Bob encouraged you to sing-a-long but the person next to me was out of tune, so I went elsewhere at the interval and had an amazing evening at the Wrecking Ball. Musicians were talented.
M. H.
Went to see "Singing in the Rain", had a wonderful evening. What I love about Hull Truck is that you feel so involved in the show. Although it is a good size theatre, it still feels like you are sitting in your living room. You have the facility to book drinks for the interval and there is a generous foyer where you can sit and have a drink before the show starts. The people that work there are very pleasant and helpful. Hull Truck always have a very varied choice of plays and shows at reasonable prices. It is in the centre of the city and there is a multi-storey car park near by, so not too far to walk. I would certainly recommend an evening at Hull Truck.
R. M.
Excellent first visit to Hull Truck. LOVED the updated Teechers Leavers'22 and brilliant wheelchair accessible seats.
M. D.
I visited recently to see the Jinkx Monsoon and Major Scales show. Comfortable seats and friendly staff. Been several times now and always a good visit. Only complaint is that it wasn't made clear where the meet and greet event was
T. R.
Found some vouchers our children got us in lockdown, amazing that they were willing to let us book a show and food using them even tho they where past the deadline! We will definitely be supporting Hull truck in the future 👍
D. O.
Great theatre! Really good location, parking right behind at the shopping centre, friendly staff. Well priced and a good programme of shows to see.
S. P.
Great little theatre,Stage 1, beautifully raked seating so all can see .Went to see Singing in the rain performed by NAPA (Northern academy of Performing Arts. ) Which was excellent, saw it twice .Comfy seats ,bar and ice-cream

Went to see Showstopper on Saturday night which was brilliantly clever and funny. I would recommend this show for anyone 12yrs and above even if you don't like musical theatre.
E. M.
Sat 2pm performance of "71 Coltman Street".
Absolutely wonderful, great acting, by all performers. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and start going back to the Hull Truck, after a 'dry' Covid break.
Loved every minute of it.
Well done to you all!!!!
G. S.
Such a great venue. The theatre is a great space every seat has a great view of the stage. Each production I have seen has been very professional and extremely well presented.
The faculties are very clean and well organised.
T. C.
Went to see the railway children. It was extremely well done, and really funny in places. A great one for most age groups. I wouldn't recommend for small children. I think from 8 years upwards will appreciate it more.
C. S.
Great little theater. Compact but with good visuals from all seats. The double revolving stage and excellent lighting and sound helps give the audience a great experience. The production we saw was a new version of"The Railway Children" which was superb.
G. W.
Always love going to Hull Truck...a fabulous atmosphere in a intimate theatre..very friendly staff..really missed it during lock down but will be making up for it as often as we can..a gem in Hulls crown.
J. A. S.
Fantastic show, comfortable seats, could do with more staff on Bar/a 2nd bar as Queue was so long we had to forgoe drinks.
J. N.
Excellent and a delight to be back after the pandemic to support the young people of NAPA in Singin in the Rain which was excellent and all the seating their is first class, well done all.
T. T.
Fantastic to be back, felt safe with the social distancing. Not sure there was additional air flow in the auditorium (very little movement of the haze). Would be happy to go back.

Nice but the names misleading its say truck theatre so was under the impression that it would let me bring my truck with me but the doors wasn't big enough for her to get in. And the play had nothing to do with trucks so sad about that but the staff was nice and seating was great for humans
y. r.
Worth a visit daughter has enjoyed every show she's seen there
M.
Went to see a great performance of The Railway Children tonight. Staff were brilliant and friendly and performers amazing! So nice to be able to see live theatre again
M. P.
Went to see NAPAs Singing in the Rain. Amazing production and talented young people who are destined for stardom.

Everytime I have been to Hull Truck, we've had a wonderful evening. It's town central, easy for bus, taxi or car. Great bar pre-post performance. Very cosy, comfortable, intimate theatre atmosphere & stage setting. We should be very proud of HT, it hosts a very varied program, throughout the seasons. Guaranteed great evening. Brava!!

The best rating I can give is that I can't wait to go back to this amazing theatre. Staff are helpful and friendly.
S. G.
Amazing! Super clean, super helpful staff (they ALL love their job because you could tell) and we had a super time! Highlight was meeting the cast for photos and autographs, my children were in awe! Already booked for another performance for me and my children and cannot wait!

This is an absolute gem of a theatre, showing productions worthy of the West End alongside a variety of highly entertaining, and varied, one night acts.

Lovely relaxed theatre, with great views of the main stage. Reasonable prices. A very varied choice of touring shows, & locally-based theatre companies.
C. S.
Disappointed that couldn't see whole production - technical problems. Cast brilliant
H. H.
Great time at Hull Truck watching The Lone Flyer. An amazing performance from very talented actors. Also being about a Hull legend made it even more spectacular.

Brilliant show, albeit the technical difficulties the stage staff experienced. Had a great laugh

Once again an absolute brilliant performance, 71 Coleman St, to celebrate 50 years of hull.truck,
R. Q.
Such a wonderful gem of a theatre! Fantastic, caring staff and the productions are worthy of the West End. Great programme of talented artists to suit all tastes.
J. A.
Hull Truck is a cosy venue where you feel part of the play . Always bringing some thing new
Love the Panto's Hull Truck put one
Reasonably priced for shows
E. C.
Went to see Teachers , really enjoyed it
S. H.
It's a great theatre. It will be better when social distancing is eased as currently the audience is restricted to 25% and it lacks a bit of atmosphere as a result.
R. F.
Best show I've seen at Hull Truck fantastic
D. S.
I went to see the railway children with my family. What a fabulous show, thank-you 😊
B. N.
A beautiful theatre, all staff were friendly and happy and the audiences are fantastic!!!!
J. D.
Theatre seating is well laid out providing excellent and relaxed viewing. Theatre staff are attentive and pleasant. However, the food at the cafe bar was distinctly average in quality, very short in quantity and therefore something of a rip-off.
C. M.
Brilliant little theatre! Been a few times now, very intimate feel as opposed to the New Theatre. Good little bar and although busy never struggles to serve people. Show some great plays here, seems to be a bit more high profile work than its previous incarnation around the corner. Reasonable prices and a comfortable sit for a couple of hours. Can't fault it.
P. W.
Great theatre, quite intimate
O. H.
Fantastic theatre. Very welcoming from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Hull Truck Theatre isn't very old so it's very clean and modern. Prices for shows are very reasonable and seating is comfy and mostly easy to access. Definitely worth visiting at least once if you haven't yet.
A. L.
Fantastic, easy to get to ample nearby parking or public transport within a stones throw of the train and bus station and every performance I have seen here has been excellent
M. S.
Very inclusive and staff are very friendly. I have a 2 year old and a disabled child and they are more than happy to accomodate. Didn't realise they have a quiet room upstairs where you can take your kids and watch the show on a big TV. Monthly craft sessions which includes a mini show for £5 per kid are brilliant. I love the atmosphere too. Not too formal and you are right up next to the stage
P. B.
Excellent venue, decent bar too. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience
C. W.
Great performance. Enjoyed. X
L. B.
Shoot the Bull as a caterer is not appealing to many. It is a horrible name and suggests animal cruelty. I think the people who organised the caterer contract are just not aware enough. I no longer eat there.
b. j.
Was comfortable in the well designed seats with plenty of leg room. Staff helpful and the air conditioning a Godsend on this hot day. Had some delicious soup before the show but I do think there should be healthy food options available, there were no salads or jackets available, mainly sausages and burgers. Was impressed however that gluten free options were available on all dishes.
C. W.
We enjoy going to Hull Truck and saw several well performed productions during Hull City of Culture 2017. Excellent production last night as usual. We went to see Oliver Twist, reasonably priced and good atmosphere. Convincing acting. Suitable for all ages. Easy to view the stage. Could order drinks during the interval if you wanted. The only negative aspect was the upstairs café where all food was served in "street food" paper containers even though they were ordinary British dishes with one bit of food covering up the rest. I had fish and chips but I had to lift the fish to see the chips. It didn't spoil our enjoyment of the theatre though. I'm glad we live in easy driving distance of this wonderful theatre. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to a theatre production at Hull Truck but have something to eat somewhere else before you go.
S. L.
Just watched 71 Coltman Street. Excellent production.
L. C.
This is the perfect theatre its not too big the ambience is just right. I've been several times and thoroughly enjoyed each visit, my only criticism is that the ticket prices are quite high and it excludes so many people from being able to go and then when i have gone I've noticed so many empty seats it's a shame if it was more affordable I'd definitely get to go more often and i think it would be the same for many other people in hull who just end up going to the cinema instead because it's so much cheaper.
Z. A.
This is a really nice theatre and staff are brilliant
P. G.
Sound engineering was appalling but the girls done well under the circumstances
G. W.
I saw the railway children and it was great some brilliant performaces I'll be going there again defanatly
T. B.
Amazing venue, our second visit, this time to book tickets for another show and book a table with shoot the bull. Shoot the bull is the hidden gem inside hull truck, the food they serve is amazing. The staff are also very helpful and friendly
p. t.
Been here a few times for different things and have never been disappointed. The theatre has different auditoriums of different sizes which are all very good. This time we were in the studio auditorium seeing "A song to end the world" and what a great show. I would recommend both the show and the venue.
J. B.
Watched the wedding singer by local performers. Best value of a ticket. Small stage but they used it well. Worth going to see performers there. The downside is queuing for drinks and toilets in the short time interval. That's like everywhere. So go and see something
K. H.
From walking through the door to walking out was a great experience credit to all the staff very friendly and helpful.
The show Peter Pan was excellent and the performer's where excellent and really did put on a great performance which all of the crowed loved .
Well done Hull Truck and everyone connected to the show
R. S.
Love this theatre. It puts on a wide range of productions to suit every taste and age.
T. W.
Myself and my husband attended to see Oliver Twist. From start to finish, this production was excellent and I loved every minute of it. The venue was fantastic with friendly staff and a decent cup of tea and coffee! Can't wait to come and see something else.
D. B.
Brilliant venue in Hull, accessible by bus, train and car. Secure lite car park is located right next door plus you can eat in the building at the cafe bar or at St Stephen next door. Inside the theatre there is not a bad seat in the house. All the seats have plenty of leg room which is great for a tall man like me, plus you can even take your drink in while watching the show. All the shows I have seen have been great with some great plays and stand up comedians. A jewel in the City of Culture crown.
M. G.
Friendly happy staff. Great show. Intimate theatre where any seat is a good seat. Proximity to the stage means you feel the drama more intensely.
B. N.
Great venue, comfortable seating with plenty of leg room
C. F.
A lovely intimate venue to see great plays. Staff always friendly.
J. L.
Railway children was really good, stage was amazing would recommend
A. K.
I love going here, it's got a great seating plan so all the seats are good. The seats themselves are comfy too. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Definetly worth a visit if you see a show advertised you fancy get it booked 😉😀
S. H.
Best theatre ever! Love being so close to the acts.
D. M.
Hull Truck is always a good experience. On my last visit l had some street food and a beer- making it even more enjoyable. The play was on for an hour with a short interlude and than forty-five minutes. That's perfect timing for me and makes the evening relaxed and balanced. We decided to go by bus and it was a straightforward. If you've ever been stuck in traffic on daytime buses try the evening service as the buses get to speed up and the journey takes no time. Hull Truck is well located and every time we go we say 'we should do this more often!'.
N. U.
Me and my partner went tonight to see Oliver Twist and I loved every bit of it, it was absolutely fantastic the cast where amazing well worth it.
Update: As of 15.06.19 we went to go see The Hired Man and OMG it was brilliant I really really did enjoy it, if you get the chance I recommend it
N. S.
It is time for a refurbishment looking a little tired, but probably no funds. Otherwise we enjoyed our visit.
a. m.
Came to see 'Ginger is the new black' with my partner.
We booked a table before the performance.
Staff were super friendly.
Cafe/bar -plenty of choices, good quality, value for money.
Comfortable surroundings.
Loved all of it.
Ginger is the new black was hilarious.
Would highly recommend it.
m. w.
Turn and face the strange. Brilliant show by all the performers. True life story of MICK RONSON.
T. A.
First time visit. Smart, well organised, made for a good evening out. Recommended!
L. H.
Fantastic place I've been many of times. They have the main stage area and they have a stage area next store a bit smaller but still good. In the interval or before you go see the play they have a bar. I've seen some smashing plays they.
D. M.
Great theatre with modern decor and a forward thinking and vibrant ensemble company. Interesting mix of productions and comfortable auditorium. Can hold 437 in the main house and 135 in the studio. Well worth a visit, and deserves support.
J. H.
Beautiful building, great atmosphere, shows amazing. Door man a fool...asked us to move while stood to the right of the main door as he said we were blocking the path to the main door . Told us to move to the left of the door were we did block it and had to keep moving many people not happy with him..
W. S.
Everybody who works there were helpful loved the place
A. H.
Beautiful theatre with nice café for a meal before the performance. Reasonable access for disabled people although best if you book tickets well ahead to make sure you get seats near access door.
E. A.
Enjoyed The Winter's Tale performed by the Chameleon Players. Very well done. But where was the bear? Theatre itself was a bit crowded in the foyer. But mostly all good!!
A. S.
Was a bit bothered that I couldn't see past a great big head in front of me, but then remembered that was my 2 year old son who was sat on me knee.
Once I got past that I very much enjoyed the whole experience. I saw The Snow Dragon. Which was about a Dragon. Made of Snow. Not much death or nudity in it, and it didn't massively challenge my perception of the universe, but I am about 28 years above the target audience.
The 2 year old on my knee enjoyed it, though. And he wants to give the place 5 stars. So if he was happy, 5 stars it is.
C. S.
Great little place for random shows that you wouldn't tend to see at bigger theatres. Lovely staff, always friendly and helpful every time we've been here.
G. T.
Centre of Hull culture for many years, I've seen some memorable things here over the years from Shakespeare to farce, Jazz and stand up comedy and local am dram. If you're spending a few nights in Hull, pay a visit. Good bar with coffee and food during the day.
h. s.
Great show for kids, easy access and good toilets. Very family friendly. Refreshments are a bit pricey but I guess they always are at similar places
J. H.
Good variety of shows and easy to access due to the location being near the multi storey car park. Would have been 5* but bar area too small to accommodate everyone at intermission.
E. G.
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance tonight, three very good actors
A. C.
Superb venue and what a great show Railway children was.
S. B.
Excellent venue in the heart of Hull. Great friendly service. The Heron theatre is large enough to hold a decent size audience but small enough to feel close to the performance.
When you know the history of Hull Truck, you'll be amazed at the progress its made over the years
r. m.
I went to see The Kitchen Sink last night. One of the funniest and touching plays I have seen in a number of years. Keen to find out more I read the playwright is from Hull, Tom Wells. A superb triumph. The actors were tremendous and were comical in their facial expressions and yet heart warmingly touching. Well done to the actor understudy who played Sophie, a true star. So good I will be seeing the play again, and certainly will be looking out for more of Tom Wells!
C. R.
Comfortable seating and good views of the stage area. Food a bit of a let down!
J. F.
Went to see Jack Lear a funny and poignant play very well acted. Had to give one less star for the fact it was uncomfortably chilly around legs and feet whilst watching the show. Otherwise first class.
J. D.
Fantastic local theatre supporting independent cinema and drama alongside some more established performers.
On-site studio and theatre spaces with online seat booking facility. Always clean and welcoming. Bar with snacks and interval drinks.
E. H.
The show 'Turn and Face the Strange' was brilliant, but it got chilly just before interval, so I wore my coat through the second half, otherwise brilliant show, great staff etc. Will visit again
J. H.
Lovely place, good to see it back open. Proud to support local theatre
D. H.
Amazing place great show
I. D.
I meet with friends here once a month for an informal Epilepsy coffee & chat group. It's an excellent facility allowing a local charity to host the group. It can be a little expensive for refreshments (£1.90 for a cup of tea) other than that small gripe, it's an amazing place.
J. H.
Theatre for this generation. Brilliant! Much more down to earth, friendly, helpful and accomodating! Burger bar (proper) with veer and burger on offer at a very fair price.
D. P.
Whether your relationship with Hull Truck Theatre is through its stage productions or the many musical acts to be found there, Hull Truck Theatre is a great facility with absorbing events. For me, the twice-yearly batches of Hull Jazz Festival gigs organised with J-Night are a splendid mix and attract some big names. The food and drink are good quality although not cheap, the flyers are not cosy but do the job. The Heron is the main auditorium and is delightful, with the audience wrapping around the stage to each side and comfortable seats with reasonable leg room. The Studio is like a steeply banked lecture theatre and works surprisingly well for a small line up or cast.
P. W.
Really helpful and friendly staff. Great facilities and felt covid-19 safe too.
J. G.
Railway Children, brilliantly adapted. Thoroughly enjoyed.
I. S.
Good venue. Excellent show: Turn & Face The Strange.
T. H.
Hull Truck is an amazing Theatre, very local mostly and also hosts National productions as well,I only went to collect tickets on this occasion but have loved it every time I've ever been, highly recommend that people go there wether your local or visiting our beautiful City 😄
E. J.
Chilled out, friendly space to grab a (not particularly cheap) drink or food, whether you're seeing a show or not. The sweets counter is brilliant. Great idea.
J. W.

S. P.
Amazing modern venue with varied and top quality performances. Also host to many amazing musicians for jazz Festival. Welcoming staff and quality food.
R. G.
Love coming to Hull Truck Theatre. You are very close the action on stage and the productions we've seen have encouraged audiences to participate. Helpful, friendly staff which only adds to the charm
A. H.

A. O.
Always a great venue to visit and feels safe as regards to covid.
W. G.
Visited today 4th January to see Oliver Twist (with a twist). The acting and actors were excellent. We were a party of 7 , some found it good, others were unsure,ie Fagin was a black woman, the artful dodger was a young woman. I am not prejudiced in ANY way ,it was good in my mind, but there were a lot of young children in the audience and the dialogue was very hard for them to understand.ie a mother next to me was having to explain what was happening. It isn't really for young children, I found the dialogue at times VERY loud and difficult to understand because of the volume.Having said the above I did enjoy the production.
l. n.
Central theatre near restarants and bus station. Food is available in the theatre foyer bar also serving coffee, wines and beers at reasonable prices. A good evening of entertainment or matinee if you prefer
C. W.
Amazing production and cleverly done.
R. S.
I love a good Hull Truck show, especially their comedies, but recently I've been to see a lot of incoming productions too. Aerial theatre by Ockham's Razor in the Main House is always a winner, and the one-man show Royal Flush in the Studio was a great laugh and quite an eye-opener. Now that Hull is set to be City of Culture in 2017, I'm confident that Hull Truck will become an even more bustling centre of activity for all forms of events. Plus they serve great grub and a fine Wold Top Brewery pint!
D. W.
Came to Hull Truck Theatre this morning with a group from nursery, thank you Magda for the activities and the tour it was an eye opener. We will definitely be bringing our granddaughter to the Gruffalos child.
C. H. B.
Brilliant play ,however the burger we had beforehand made both me and my friend ill for a week afterwards very pretentious food the chips were no better than asda smart price and if they were home made and not supermarket bought then I'm the queen of Sheba
P. G.
Fab night there, went to see bouncers and what a night that was , it's the first time I have Been there the only thing I wasn't over keen on is the meals plus there come in boxes but the show was absolutely fantastic.

Went to see Ugly Duckling Christmas Eve. Our daughter loved it. Amazing show and welcoming on arrival. Thank you.
J. H.
I went today to see Dancing Through the Shadows and I enjoyed every minute of it. I think more plays about Hull and the North always bring in more audiences to Hull truck. Richard Vergette is local and thats what I like, this is why Hull truck became famous good old Northern plays more please
Joan Hay.
H. H.
