Such a beautiful building inside and out. Well stocked bars - decent wine, beers, spirits. Need to go to the main bar for draught. Can take a while to get drinks at large events so make use of interval ordering if available.

Beautiful and stately Leeds Town Hall, is an exquisite display of English architecture that reflects the subtle yet grand character of this great city, nicknamed “little London”.
The hall is a great place to visit as part of your journey through this lovely city.

Sadly it was closed for renovations when we went but it looked really nice outside

Incredible place. Amazing decor and vibe. There are always some events in Leeds Town Hall. It is a good place to hang out. During good days the sunshine in front of Leeds Town Hall is amazing. It is absolutely a place you need to go if you are in Leeds!

What an extravagant building.
The town hall was closed to the public. Regardless it is a extremely beautiful building that really does take centre stage in this fabulous city. Very ornate and takes you back to the industrial roots of the city.
Worth checking out if you are in the city.
The most beautiful place in town to have a wedding party as well, when the lockdown is over anyway.

We attended Leeds Town Hall to see the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and I was so surprised to find a concert hall inside, I had no idea there was anything like that inside. I'd attended a wedding there previously in one of the function rooms. The sound was great.

The town hall is a great space for any event. I attended a huge beer festival there and it was fantastic. The inside and the basement is very cool. The basement has old jail cells that were old and beautiful.

The town hall is classical in style but baroque in imaginative power and drama. It stands squarely at the top of a flight of steps (altered from their original shape) on a mound made specially for the purpose. The whole facade is made of giant columns and all the sides reflect that pattern. The central portico has ten huge Corinthian columns. Then there is an immense frieze and rising above it all the central tower, 225 ft (69 m) high, which was not in the original design.
The Victoria Hall rises to 92 ft (28 m) inside the parallelogram of surrounding rooms and corridors and the enclosing colonnades. The carving of the tympanum over the front entrance represents Leeds encouraging the arts and sciences. The four Portland stone lions on plinths along the frontage, modeled at London Zoo, contrast with the sandstone of the building itself.
The town hall provided accommodation for municipal departments, a courtroom, police station or 'central charge office', and a venue for concerts and civic events. It still has a role as a council office, although many departments have been relocated. The principal performance space, the richly decorated Victoria Hall, is a venue for orchestral concerts. Its concert organ, the largest three manual example in Europe, is used for lunchtime organ recitals.

Leeds Town Hall is one of Leeds' finest venues and is a great place to visit if you get the opportunity. I would recommend

Having lived in Leeds way back in the late 60's, it was nice to come back home. A lot has changed. New offices soar into the skyline. I love how they have blended the new building in with the old.

Great venue for comedy nights. Great view of stage from balcony. Sound system was ok up there but could be improved as we couldn't always hear what the comedian was saying. Seats were fairly narrow but comfortable. This place is in need of investment as public areas are looking run down. Happy to support them by going to more gigs and buying refreshments from the bar!

Was visiting the ninth Leeds beer festival. Shame the turnout wasn’t a great as other years

You should definitely go, especially in the summer or cold weather it’s nice to sit on the steps and take in the busy scenery. I love the architecture. Great for taking pics . It feels like your abroad. Go for it

Amazing Josh Widdicome - shame about the seats.
I would have given 4.8 out of 5 if I could, as Josh was hilarious and the staff there were extremely helpful. We were in the stalls Row 27 seats 28 and 29, got in there early enough to sit down and work out that if the person in front of me was sat in there seat, my knees would have been crushed.
So spoke to one of the staff on the door (a very nice lady) and asked if there was any way to try and get a seat with extra legroom and she said if I go to the box office they may be able to do something for me. She was telling me she knows what it's like, as her husband is 6'2 (I am 6'3) and he has issues with some venues, especially those in London, they were very tightly packed in.
I spoke to the two very helpful ladies in the box office and they suggested that I could have a seat in one of the boxes as that should have enough legroom. I was happy with anything that had more legroom, so I said yes.
Got to my seat and my gosh what a massive difference.....not only more legroom but more seat width, overall a lot more spacious. Looks like there are only 12 seats in each box and the view is slightly limited, but I was happy and you don't really need to see the comedian most of the time. I was sat next to the door on the left side of the box at the back.
Thanks again for the great customer service of the staff at Leeds Town Hall!

We regularly photograph weddings at Leeds Town Hall. It's a huge improvement on the old registry office. The interior is nice and light and airy, whilst the outside is fantastic for photographs too with it's huge pillars and amazingly detailed doors. A great place to get married for a fraction of the cost of a hotel

Before this was completed the council would use the Scarborough Hotel as the town hall. It's a wonderful building lacking only the golden dome that was originally planned for it.
The lions at the front were the inspiration for those around Trafalgar Square. And legend has it that they would get up and run around the building at the stroke of midnight 😱

Lovely historic venue, a great mix of modern functions and events in an old setting. We attended the Peppa Pig Concert and it was awesome, everything was well organised and even though it was busy, the staff were extremely friendly polite and helpful.
Highly recommend a visit.

Great sized function room for our annual visit for Ginfest. Good location, plenty of facilities close by, and a truly striking building. Love sitting on the steps out front watching the world go by.

Beautiful setting for a most memorable day. Leeds Beckett University used the premises for the presentation of degrees to their Students. Very happy Students and extremely proud Mums, Dads and Families.
The surroundings, the presentation and the general atmosphere made this a memory for life.

Obviously depends on who is performing as to how good it is but the interior of the main hall is astonishing, particularly the organ pipes.

We attended a friend's wedding at Leeds Town Hall But before setting out, we did an internet search for more details about the entrance and location (parking and drop off) but to be honest, there's nothing! The drop- off I presume is the loading bay on Oxford Place or to the rear of the building.
Upon arrival, the entrance (main steps) was crowded and we didn't see a sign saying "weddings" and nobody to hand... well, anyway we sorted it, but it could have got full stars with only a little more attention to detail :)

Used to work in here when it was the Leeds Crown Court. A very impressive building with lots of history. Concealed passages etc. Many happy memories 😀

Nice building indeed.

Too many people think that the side with the 4 lion's and tall steps is the front when it's the back where all the people for the courts went in. And the judges went in at the front round the other side opposite the victoria pub .
