Reviews of Whisby Nature Park
K. H.
Lovely nature park right on my doorstep. Easily accessible car park but be warned, can get very busy. Parking during winter months is £1, £2 in the summer. All trails signposted, benches placed throughout. Nice to get away for a couple of hours. Really good for dog walking and for kids as well.
M. V.
Love visiting Whisby Nature Park. Like going for long walks around the Park. You can easily go for a 5 mile walk with all the different routes, surrounded by beautiful lakes and countryside. Very well maintained.
When you've finished your walk, there is seating area outside where you can get drinks and snacks from the hatch. There's also a great indoor cafe with stunning views over the main lake at the park.
Parking is paid for, but not stupid prices.
If you're in the area, or haven't been, I would certainly recommend a visit.
If you're taking dogs, keep them on the lead. There are plenty of bins around the park to out your dog poop bags.
F. K.
A beautiful tranquil nature reserve. A place to get lost in the surroundings. A nature lover & bird lovers paradise. Many walks & trails & a funtime to be had with all the family. A great cafe with phenomenal views. Helpful staff & very good value for money serving excellent cakes. Clean bathroom facilities are available. A children’s play area is provided & plenty of car parking for a charge of £2. If you don’t have change for the car park pay at the kiosk opposite the car park. A highly recommended must visit. To see is to believe where the sky meets earth.
K. F.
Really nice park, even on a gloomy day. Plenty of trails to walk, plenty of parking and a nice little gift shop/information centre/cafe. Plenty of bins and benches around the site, with a lot of observation huts with information on the birds. Most of the trails are dogs on leads only, but there is one with dogs allowed off lead, and it was good to see everyone following these rules. Parking is £1 in the winter.
D. M.
Beautiful place great for a nice stroll or a run. Also good to walk the dog /dogs.
Great to see its wheel chair friendly and pushchair friendly too. Lovely for picnics
B. W.
Great place to go for a walk, lots of nature trails with different routes to choose from. Parking was quite difficult is the only downside but it shows how popular the place is!
We will definitely visit again in the future
H. C.
Stunning!! What more can I say. A fantastic few hours walking around the lakes, walked most of trails and enjoyed a lovely coffee & scone in the cafe afterwards
K. T.
Absolutely stunning place. So much to explore. My daughter loved doing the Bee trail and we saw such a variety of birds and insects
A.
Absolute must for dog walkers, walkers, parents and children or simply to have a wonder. Parking is £2.... cheap ad chips. Enjoy.
M. K.
Nice area for walking, different walk lengths, colour coded for the different distances. Adventure kids climbing area, 8 yrs + recommended. Parking £2.50 for the day I believe.
A. H.
A great place to go walking which is between Newark & lincoln, free to get in & a small car parking charge. There are 4 - 5 lakes to go around & each trail basically leads to another, if ur a bird watcher there are hides at various points, a good well stocked cafe with reasonable prices
K. C.
Lovely place for walking with or without dogs . Nice cafe and very good priced parking . Great place and very well maintained
D. S.
We nailed this one walked all the trails at dusk 6pm till 8pm it was quiet. Loads of deer different types. Birds and frogs even a small cat?? Excellent evening
L. G.
First time here, Lovely countryside walks. Hard to believe it's in the middle of Lincoln. Cafe was about to close but maybe we'll try that another tome
K. J.
A really nice day out that I wholeheartedly recommend. Despite being so close to the city it feels entirely in the countryside with wild birds and other wildlife all around. A plethora of walks for all abilities and schedules and excellent refreshments to finish off. The playground as well is amazing and children of all ages absolutely love it. You could easily spend a day here with children no problem.
a. v.
Always a lovely visit, great views, particularly at this time of year when the trees are changing ...
Café / shop / gallery decent value, good variety of food and drink ...
Some of the restrictions about dogs on leads seem a little unnecessary, otherwise would rate it 5 ⭐s
H. R.
We have been to walk here numerous times. My 4 year old loves it when they have a trail walk that he can get involved in... most recently we did the ladybird trail.
There is a great car park and it's cheap for all day parking. Lots of play space for kids to run about and most of the walks are fine for pushchairs (if you have a more off road pushchair it will be alot easier!)
Lovely cafe with average prices for a visitor attraction.
D. &. L. I.
Lovely place to visit. Had area for dogs to be let off. A nice cafe. Parking £2.50 all day.
M. C.
Good walk, dog friendly and can even let dog off the lead in one area.
Some nice views.
Little kiosk selling hot and cold food. Picnic tables.
Toilets nearby.
Lots of car parking but need some change for this, Fairly priced.
Would return when in the area.
N. W.
We love it here. We don't always love how the mosquitoes love us but that's our look out. I think they can sense that I take a variety of medicines and just want to get high off of my opiate saturated blood.
And now that there's a route where dogs can be off lead, there's even more reason for us to go.
I suggest walking clockwise around the lake (back through the car park as if leaving) this way the dogs can splash and play on the, for want of a better word, 'beach' and be in with a chance of drying off before getting back to the car.
M. B.
Would be better if people who walked there dogs round the nature reserve would obey the signs an keep there dogs on a lead so that the wild life can use the area with out being chased
G. B.
Beautiful nature! It is a lovely place to walk with a dog
S. H.
Great place to visit, art exhibition on which was good, walked the easy trail then the colour changed but still fun, found the black sheep and looked through the bird watching huts, great day out for families and pets.
A. H.
A lovely place for a walk. A variety of short walks, or combine them all together for a longer ramble round this stunning wooded setting. Plenty of places to sit and watch nature, and a few hides for some serious bird watching if that's your thing. And when you've done with the exercise, there's a perfect little cafe - reasonably priced, (amazing cheese scones) clean and friendly staff. I noticed there were a few activities for the kiddies too - inside and out. Car-park is £2.50, but who'd begrudge that when it all goes towards the upkeep of the park. Enjoyable morning out in the fresh air.
P. W.
Lots of activities for all ages to enjoy from the children's play area to the miles of walks to admire the beauty of nature. At only £2 to park your car where can you find better value for money. My rating is full Mark's, 10/10
J. J.
£2.50 to park, they've updated their carpark ticket machines, so you can pay by card but you also now have to put your reg in now. So, no more passing on your ticket!
The outside play with a sand pit (bring a bucket and spade although you can buy these in the shop). There is digger type thing but it's normally always broken.
There's, water play too but that is broken most of the time too.
There's a tower to climb and if open, tunnels and cargo nets etc that are on different levels and down to the water.
There's great walks with different lengths and a specific walk for dogs too.
They have outside eating areas and a food hatch to sell drinks, ice creams and snacks but its not always open.
Inside there is a shop, free play area, a bookable meeting area and a canteen. The food has always good with lots of choice especially for those like me with dietary requirements, it's very reasonably priced too and you can use the Lincoln Discount card and get 10%. The staff have always been helpful, some not so friendly. There have been some updates in the canteen. They've stopped the help yourself jugs of water which was disappointing and now charge 60p for condiments like tomato sauce and mayonnaise! It now comes in tiny glass jars. I was disappointed that the lady serving was touching the rim of the drinking glasses. Something when I was trained we were told never to do with a clean glass.
E. C.
Great place, park the car ( payment required), lock up your bike on site and take a walk for free round the park with views of wildlife and lakes. For disabled, electric scooters available to hire on site. I made my visit on a bike, and took time to use the cafe which you can either have a snack or meal, drinks and even purchase from the shop. Nice facilities, clean and well set out for all
S. B.
Great place for relaxation and walks. The best thing is no cyclists allowed. We wish they would allowed dogs inside of caffe because we couldn't sit outside area during rain. £2 for car parking is not encouraging visitors or customers to cafe.
J. S.
Several lengths of walks to choose from. Lakes are scenic with a few species of birds. £2.50 to park 10-4 and free entry which is great value. Gift shop. Was going to have lunch here but cafe expensive.
M. G.
Whisby is a peaceful nature reserve situated on the south western edge of Lincoln just off the A46. There are several different signposted walks meandering through woods and around lakes. Dogs are welcome and one of the walks allows them to be off-lead. Facilities include a cafe, shop and children's play area. There is ample parking (free for disabled badge holders).
L. P.
A pleasant walk around the lake with dog walkers following a separate trail. The beaches allow dog's to swim and the water is clear and clean... our lab luv's it here. The reserve also has a large cafe and good facilities.
L. F.
Great accessible nature reserve that caters for everyone. Dogs are allowed on the lead and there is a wonderful cafe as well. Some truly lovely routes around the lakes and woodland. Diverse plants and fungi about, and there are some brilliant birds to see as well!
D. J.
Picturesque place for a walk although I can see it's popularity working against it when its visited on a sunny day. Nice coffee shop with good food and a small gift shop. Toilets are clean and well looked after. Dogs are allowed with some areas where they can be off their lead. All day parking for £2 with plenty of parking spaces. Well worth a visit.
D.
A delightful place to stop off for a puppy break on the way to the east coast. Great off lead dog walk in the shade. Lovely sausage sandwich. Toilets are immaculately clean.
A. E.
Beautiful and peaceful place to walk. Also great for children with the adventure play areas. Cafe great. Good cheap car park. Toilets very clean too.
d. m.
A nice place for a walk around. All major wildlife is signposted as to what and where you should be able to see them. A good cafe and shop with pleasant ,helpful staff. Worth a few hours visit.
j. b.
Great walks with countryside around. Dog walkers, Cafe small children's area. Events do take place exploring the nature and fauna in the Park.
S. V.
Had a nice walk round the lake.
Footpaths are good clean compact.
Has a shop and cafe.
Parking is pay and display. Which is a shame
S. S.
Well worth a visit. Well signposted trails for all abilities, lovely surroundings to explore.
Great facilities, cafe shop, outdoor & indoor childrens play areas.
£2 parking g a day.
D. W.
Ticket machine was out of order and had to queue up at food kiosk for ticket. But had a lovely walk with the dogs, although I still can't believe that some people cannot pick up their dog poo!
T. R.
Lovely place. Went walking here every day while on a weeks holiday at Thorpe park lodges. It was a half mile walk from where we were staying. Then we did the Thorpe walk mostly but tried a few others.
J. F.
Nice reserve lots of walks unfortunately not alot of wildlife and mainly gulls when I walked but would recommend you visit and looks like the families in the play areas were having fun and plenty to keep the kids entertained.
M. H.
A lovely selection of accessible trails, buggy friendly. A great cafe and play area too. Free entry and only £2 for parking.
D. L.
What a beautiful place this is! We visited for the first time on a the warmest February day on record, and even though there were very few colours on display with regards to spring flowers, we still enjoyed the walk around the park and lakes. Very few people there at 10am when we arrived, but by the time we reached the cafe a couple of hours later it was busy. Had a lovely large latte and fresh cream scone in the cafe for a very reasonable price. We will visit again for sure in spring and autumn as I can imagine the colours in those seasons are quite spectacular! £1 parking until the end of Feb for the day and then £2 for the spring/summer seasons is also very reasonable.
S. N.
A lovely reserve for walking around. Loads off different walks to choose from. Dog friendly with paths marked out for on or off leads walks. A lovely beached area where dogs can have a paddle.
L. M.
Very pleasant walk around the nature reserve, parking £2 all day very reasonable first time I have been in the gift shop and cafe.
We had flapjack which was very tasty and a Mars rice Krispie slice please note if you are first in cafe then the Mars Rice Krispie slice will be very hard as it would have come from fridge so may want to let it soften before biting as you may need dentist lol
I have to say with 1coffee and 1 iced coffee very reasonable price £10.20 I have to say the cakes were very tasty and recommended
The walk was very pleasant several walks to choose from most of the walks dogs are to be on lead however there is one walk where dogs can be off lead which is great for them and there is a lovely little beach area for them can be busy but enjoyable for your pooches to cool off
Overall a great place to visit even with children get them to explore nature and learn about the trees, birds, see what could be in the ponds
D. C.
Lovely dog friendly place to visit, enjoy the walks and have food too. All the facilities really clean and friendly staff
i. w.
Beautiful nature walks, excellent spot for dog walking.
I. B.
Really nice place for walking with dogs and family. Loads of little lakes across the area, sitting benches on the way. Loads of different walks, some longer, some shorter. We spent 2 hours walking but probably didn't even see half of it. Quite a big visitors centre at the entrance but due to Covid was closed.
J. B.
Wonderful nature reserve. We were visiting family and decided to try this one out. Beautiful weather, and lovely cafe and wonderful walks.
L. M.
Beautiful place to walk, well posted trails and friendly helpful staff in the nature center. Shame the food isn't as lovely as the setting. Bring your own snacks!
D. A.
What a great chance to go for a relaxing walk around so much nature. You can also see lots of different kinds of birds and sit on one of the many benches to look at beautiful scenery. The nature center has a good cafeteria with good choices on the menu and activities for kids. Bring your kids here and enjoy yourselves!!
S. B.
Great walks, fantastic for bird watching and a lovely cafe with hot or cold food. It also has a small shop and toilets with disabled toilets too
M. M.

Absolutely beautiful . An abundance of beautiful walks with a lovely outdoor play area. Indoor play area too . Great setting for meetings / conferences. Lovely food , wonderful staff
L.
Cheap parking, lovely walks of different distances. Well kept nature reserve. Plenty of benches throughout. Kept clean too. Good way to spend a few relaxing hours. Small play areas for kids. Small shop and cafe that does hot and cold food.
C. O. N.
Me and my partner took our husky puppy here for a day out and we all loved it! So nice that he can be somewhere off leash and safe. Zeus (our husky) absolutely loved jumping in the lakes and running wild.
A. W.
Whisby Park has lovely lakes, silver birch trees and different paths such as: the magpie walk, Thorpe walk and Willow walk. It's a very lovely park and a place where people can walk their dogs and take their friends and family. During the Autumn and winter season its gates closes at 7pm and during the Spring and summer season, they close at 8pm. It has a play area for children also. If you are interested in going there and have not yet been, it's located in South Hykham, Lincolnshire. Come and enjoy the nature.8
P. R.
Very nice walks, good paths and nice lakes, very quiet at this time of year for wildlife, good cafe selling a good selection of hot and cold food, nice outside seating overlooking one of the lakes, good toilets and small gift shop.
J. T.
Amazing place for long peaceful walks. Only downside is having to carry dog waste around for a long time as there aren’t many dog waste bins. Other than that, highly recommend for long dog walks 👍🏼
J. O.
Great for dog walking and for a relaxing stroll around the reserve with a number of different walking routes available.
Parking is cheap and although I havent tried the cafe yet I am sure it would be okay.
Despite living in the area for 6 years I'd never been here but I'll definitely be going again.
G. T.
Loads of play equipment for all ages, both indoors and out. Lovely walks in the country side with excellent bird watching. The cafe is worth a visit, with a decent menu and nice food - there are even two vegan mains available.
N. C.
Brilliant places to go in all weathers. Great for nature lovers, photography enthusiasts and walkers. Gorgeous peaceful scenery. Great cafe in the visitors centre, reasonable pricing and tasty food. Toilets very clean. Only £2 all day parking in peak season. Anticipate it will get busy in summer so come early for parking
P. W.
This is a great place for a 9 yr old grandson ! No admission fee. Plenty of outside play equipment. Lovely walks. There's a younger childs sandpit area and inside play area too. Plenty of parking. Reasonably priced drinks/snacks. Great fun.
C. C.
Stunning ground. Lovely to walk around whatever the weather. Especially with your better half. ♥️ The shop and restaurant.. Really nice. Very helpful and friendly staff.
C. F.
Lovely location if you like a tranquil walk away from the noisy towns and cities. There's a really easy yellow walk that's around 1.2 miles around the main lake or there are other colour coordinated walks that are longer.
S. G.
Gorgeous place to walk. However if you want an off lead dog walk this is just ok. For some reason on the longer walks dogs have to be on a lead. As a disabled person who uses a mobility scooter I am sad I can't take my dogs on a decent walk.
A. C.
What a difference a few years make! Superb facilities for all the family. Even on a wet miserable day with a bit of hide hopping we managed to log a few birds and keep relatively dry. With a welcome cuppa with cake to finish off.
A. M.
Great walks of varying length around lakes and woodland. Good cafe with views over a lake too.
R. M.
Great place. £2 for all day parking. There is one walk where your dog can get off the lead. On the other walks, dogs must remain on the lead.
M. A.

C. W.
Very nice, relaxing place just on the outside of Lincoln. You can drive or get a bus here and there's even a nice cafe and a kid friendly area. Definitely worth a visit.
M. b. C.
Lovely place to chill, walks around the lake, loads of wildlife to spot. Various activities available we followed the ladybird trail. Followed by coffee and cake in their comfortable coffee shop overlooking the lake.
C. E.
Beautiful nature park with lakes and many walks which are clearly marked.
Nice cafe and facilities.
Well worth a visit!
P. R.
Beautiful nature park...lovely asset for the city....very dog friendly ...just a pity some dog owners can't read....or are far too lazy to clean their dogs mess...plenty of bins around the . park.
J. C.
Lovely walks around the lakes, nice cafe, sadly many dog owners don't adhere to the lead policy and far too many dogs running up to my children and causing issues
R. A.
Whisby is one of our favourite places. The off lead route is fab for dogs letting off some steam, especially the lake part where the dogs can have a dip if the so wish.
L. V.
Really nice place with different options to walk, nice cafe only down side is dog poo even though there are facilities for this.( dog toilets).
J. “.
Awesome place, near the city. Beautiful walks, nature all over! Great for Bird watching or just relax!
A. R.
Very pleasing walk around the lake.
Park was litter free.
Suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
Plenty of accessibility parking.
A.
Really lovely place to go for a walk and stretch those legs, routes are sign posted so easy to follow.
R. B.
Lots of wildlife. Several different length walks. Indoor and outdoor play areas plus kids sand and water play areas. The cafe dose nice food and the 2 for £10 breakfast is really nice if you are there early enough. Car parking is £2 March to October. £1 in the winter.
N. S.
Lovely dog friendly cafe, informative centre, and lovely lake trails.
Heaps of parking at 1.50-2.50£.

D. “.
Lovely place, great walk. People still on cycles which isn't allowed and should have a lake to fish!
G. B.
Highly enjoyable Sunday morning walk with the dog. different walks for all abilities of people.
Paths are accessible to all being hard paved and even one where your dog can be off the lead ..if you have one ...
Plenty of dog waste bins and even dog toilet areas ...
Plenty of waterfoul to be seen even though it was busy with people.
Cafe, Toilets and a visitor center.

J. T.
Beautiful autumn colours. Good cafe. Very popular with families and dog walkers.
i. W.
A peaceful Monday in early spring, and a lovely 2 mile walk along mud free tracks followed by a cup of tea and a slice. I imagine at more popular times it might feel less peaceful but will be equally beautiful.
J. R.
Great walking spot for family and friends and even dogs
M. T.
First impressions good, looking forward to future visits and explore the lakes and wildlife more.
R. G.
Love this place great wheelchair friendly paths allow you to take in the views and wildlife . Visitor centre is worth a visit with good cafe and children's play area . One note to mention the car park is pay and display

L. 9.
Lovely staff and wonderful walks. Excellent wildlife conservation and very informative signs about the local flora and fauna.
D. B.
Again a good place to walk dogs, and a good photography place to visit. Now been loads of times. We have done all the walks more than once. The best time to go is early evening as it's getting twilight. The carpark closes at 8pm so if you are driving and going to be later than 8 park on side of road. If you do park up on carpark it's only £2.00 to park all day. Or a quid if you go in winter months. Only one little draw back ( but I'm being rather picky) if you collect thimbles,or fridge magnets with place names on, Whisby N.R don't do them. Did write it on suggestion/ customer survey the other day when we was there.
S. E.
Took family, they were very impressed, but didn't like so many dog's.
C. P.
A great place to visit. Lovely walks around lakes, most of them wheelchair/mobility scooter accessible. A great cafe with lovely food. The only negative comment I would make is that it would have helped to have maps around the walks so you know where you are/how far you have to go.
p. c.
Nice place for a walk with the dog or just on your own and a nice cafe.
C. c.
First time iv been here and found it really interesting.Decent prices in the cafe.Really nice lake and very clean.

K. S.
My little one loves this place, the centre has lots of activities to keep him entertained but he loves the beach area best, chucking in pebbles !! We also bring the dog which has good areas to let her off the lead - she also loves the beach area where she can have a cool swim in water
A. H.
Had a lovely afternoon walking round the lakes. So much wildlife to see. A nice cafe overlooking one lake. Benches spread out on walks if like my wife you can only walk small distances before needing a rest. We and our lovely dog Archie had a great time
L. B.
Lovely day, £2 for parking, such a lovely area, plenty of walks, plenty of parking.
E. K.
No e place, but would like to see more viewing platforms or hides. Nice walk but not many places where you could view the lake and wildlife.
D. B.
Excellent!! Wide open spaces and lots of interesting things for the kids. Staff very polite and welcoming.

Shop, toilets, cafe and information on site. £2 car parking lets you park all day. Bikes, scooters etc are NOT permitted it is after all a nature park. Really nice place to go for a walk only problem was that the longest round was blocked off and there was no indication before hand that you would get to a dead end.
A. H.
Was a lovely relaxing place to be, had a walk around, called in the cafe for a drink & the staff were lovely
D. L.
Lovely walk with the dog. Nice play area for the children
P. M.
A great walk around an area of mixed habit full of different types of wildlife. The various marked pathways are easy to follow and give a good indication of the length of the walk.
A good variety of birds can be seen and heard. Also a good variety of flora n fauna can be seen.
Highly recommend a visit if you want just short walk of a more lengthy walk around the various habitats on site.
C. W.
Nice area for a walk. Large car park, £2 until November when it reduces to £1. Dogs can be taken on leads and one lake they can be let off. Nice cafe overlooking a lake.
L. A.
Such a fantastic place to take the children brilliant indoor play and outdoor activities such as sand and water play as well as huge nets that go over the water. Great food too serving a selection including GF and vegetarian options absolutely great day out.
M. M.
Go there often our Labrador he loves playing in water there, unfortunately today all pooh bins were overflowing with the heat they stank and was fly's all around the bins, goes to show does get picked up shame wasn't anyone there to of empty the bins.
N. W.
Various distance marked walks for all abilities, visitor centre shop, toilets and lovely cafe
D. P.
Fabulous nature park for everyone Splendid walks, scenery and wildlife. .Young kids play area inside and outside. Toilet facilities. Scrumptious cakes and variety of food on offer at the café. Parking costs £2 but it is so worth it.
P. E.
Very friendly staff.
Immaculately maintained grounds are a joy to walk round.
L. K.
Amazing walks around a selection of environments, centered around several lakes home to a wide variety of fuana and flora.
A. D.
Unplanned stopover. What a fantastic place. The grandchildren loved it, almost had to drag them away. Loads of activities for children to learn more of our environment. Will definitely come back in the spring.
A. C.
Enjoy walking around Whisby with my dogs. I avoid the area where dogs are allowed off leads as one of my dogs is not dog friendly. Sadly not all dog walkers are respectful to the signs and I have encountered dogs off the leash in areas they should be leashed, so be on your guard. However if an incident happens, it will be their wrong. The area is lovely though, plenty of places to sit, and friendly for all walkers and wheels
K. M.
I live 15 minutes away so consider myself lucky as I can visit Whisby nature park later in the day when dog walkers have gone and it’s quiet as the sun goes down. Beautiful sunsets on a sunny day and spiritually uplifting.
A. N.
Nice cafe, clean facilities and some nice peaceful walks around the lakes. Car park not a rip off either. There is a small play area for kids too
D. H.
Lovely walks and nice visitor centre. The play area could do with a revamp but Grandson still enjoyed it
B. R.
Great place all walks clearly marked out and easy 2 follow helpfull staff in the centre
2.
Perfect place if you look for a bit of silence and like walking
P. W.
Had a nice time. Food reasonably priced. Nice to just have a relaxing walk with the family
R. F.
Lovely place to go for walks and take in the beautiful lakes, woodland and meadows, including a large variety of wildlife and wild flowers.
K. B.
Gorgeous setting with a good choice of walks available for various abilities - all walks have lovely scenery - wheelchair accessible too! Cafe & shop were great & disabled toilet was nice and clean! PLENTY of parking- lots of blue badge spaces too which was nice to see.
G. H.
What a superb place for a walk amongst nature. The lakes, trees and wonderful walks are great for all ages. The cafe is first class too.
A lovely place to be
N. G.
Amazing place to go, cheap parking, variety of walks for different abilities and moods. Really enriching water play area and sandpit. Lovely food and interesting gift shop with lots of local sellers. Also dog friendly!
L. C.
Beautiful scenery! Lovely short or long walks with hidden bird watching huts, views for adults and children. Throughout the walks you're able to take part in riddle trials for prizes at the end. (Grab the booklet from the desk inside)
Lovely little trinket shop inside, a play pen for the children which you have to pre book at the minute due to covid I believe.
Great cafe with facilities, only downside is the cafe is a little bit pricey but you get food with a view of the lakes. There is play areas outside nearby, water tunnels, sandpits with climbing structures.
All in, in all it's a great place for a day out either for a jollfull walk, wildlife watching or for families.
M. C.
Lovely walking, very pleasant cafe on site.
G. O.
Enjoyed a 90 minute guided nature walk with Phil, exploring the history and origins of the park, along with the huge variety of wild flowers and other plants that can be found there. Excellent!
s. b.
Lovely lakes to walk round then back to the cafe for refreshments
S. D.
This place is mega worth a visit for a walk and cafes great
H. N. H.
Really enjoyed being there. £2 car park for all day, really good café with indoor & outside seating. Nice variety of works around the lakes, hides for twitchers. Interesting shop with unusual gifts...
c. d.
Lovely country park with a variety of walks. For those with mobility are balance problems there are 2 mobility scooters available to hire at a cost of £3.50 for the morning / afternoon.
There is a nice play area for children, a cafe overlooking the lake. Dogs are welcome ant there is an inside dog friendly seating area as well as a nice decked area where you can enjoy four lunch or cup of tea and watch the wildlife.
Facilities for disabled people are excellent with good access to all facilities.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. Overall this is a nice place for families and pet owners. My last visit was on a freezing cold winters day . Every time I visit I notice something new.
C. M.
Beautiful peaceful place to walk & enjoy the fresh air
K. B.
Had an amazing day out but a lot of wasps when we tried to eat food outside of the cafe
S. K.
Lovely place for walks and wildlife spotting. A place that all ages can enjoy.
G. W.
Always a great place to walk, with so much too see.
C. L.
Lovely place to visit on a nice day. Various walks for all ages, and skills. Kids play park where they can play on the assault course over the water.
Café on site with gift shop, aswell as indoor play area.
The only dissapointment of the day was sitting down in the café at 1445 and trying to order food to be told they'd stopped serving at 1430. This, despite it advising of an 'all day menu' and no signage to say the cafe had stopped serving food altogether when the cafe shuts at 1630. Not great when you've walked a fair old way and in need of something to eat.
All in all a nice place, just watch out for the erratic food serving hours.
K. S.
Great place for a walk with our dog and very easy to get to from our house, always a possibility of seeing a Bittern, today we heard 3 Cuckoo's didn't see any and a couple of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers as well as the usuals.
L. B.
We love Whitby, we recently got a puppy who also loves the walks. Unfortunately we got shouted at by a very rude woman when I let the pup off lead on a route new to us. The signs are all over the place and it confused me over which walks were loose dog friendly, I think there's actually only 1 walk out of about 6 where you can let your dog off lead (and it's the shortest one) which is really disappointing. #letdogsroam
J. J.
Great for birdwatching and a family day out. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, but i don't recommend the Mars bar slice in the cafe, did not taste like or resemble a Mars bar? More like a rice Crispy cake?
J. D.
This place is a gem. Great little playpark with sandpit play area and water play area. There is a cafe and seating area next to the play areas, they do nice food and drinks.at reasonable prices.
The walks are brilliant, focused around the lakes. Lots of different routes you can take which all feel slightly different. Loads of wildlife spotted and stunning scenery. You could really spend the whole day here. Parking is £2 peak season but thats not bad.
Really happy we found it.
P. M.
Possibly a great place for summer- a large variety of easily accessible walks are available, suitable for the whole family (dogs included!) with a cafe stop by the car park and many chances to observe the wildlife such as the bird watching hides situated across the main lake, great for all ages
S. C.
Visited today for the first time. I have slightly comprised mobility and so asked if there were seats available on the walking routes. I was told there were plenty. We chose the 1.2 , mile Grebe walk. The path surface was good, the views of the lake non existent due to high rushes trees and bushes. We found 2 seats very close together at almost the end of the walk, to late for me. There was 1 other seat at about the halfway point, which was occupied unfortunately. The cafe was open serving outside and takeaway.
T. L.
80 metre outdoor lakeside seating but only 5 tables available, rest cordoned off. Very poor control Covid routines making people queue up in an enclosed area before going outside to find no tables available.Food is very nice though. Just need proper management of seating areas.
T. C.
Beautiful walks. Car park is only £2. Nice modern cafe
K. F.
Wow what a place!
Great for dogs, there are even dog friendly tables within the cafe and specific walk route for dogs who enjoy being off the lead.
Beautiful surroundings, lots of nature and wildlife to be seen.
Lovely play areas inside and out. Great little gift shop, toilets and picnic areas.
Parking is only £2
Fab day out whatever the weather for the whole family.
D. L.
Lovely walk. Lots of wildlife to spot. Good park for kids. Nice cafe always good food. A great day out
D. K.
Lovely walk round with my wife and neice
N. T.
A beautiful place for a walk and the cafe was really nice. Had a breakfast and sat outside. Staff were great as was the food. A lovely Sunday morning out.
B. D.
We really liked it here. Play areas are definitely for younger children. Walks are suitable for all ages. Lots of parking for only two pound was great. Lovely and clean toilet facilities. Would suggest taking your own food as it was dear for the quality, but that was our only negative from the whole day here. Worth a visit
D. S.
Our first visit and did not view all facilities due to Covid 19 access estrictions. There are several marked walks and paths were in excellent condition. A lot of maintenance of woodlands and waters was clear to see. Loo and refreshment facilities but coffee from the kiosk was a bit average. A great asset to the area. Well done to the volunteers looking after it. Parking £1 all day.
S. C.
Whisby nature park is a great place to take a walk. Lots of nature, good amount of parking and good visitor facilities too. Dogs can be taken too, with areas where they can be left off leads as well, but please remember to pick up after your dos and use the waste bins, there are plenty of them
I. M.
Visited for the first time on a cold but dry winters day and enjoyed a stroll around one of the shorter walks. Will definitely return for one of the longer walks, great place to visit for a couple or for a family, plenty of activities to keep children occupied too. Car park is currently £2 but I think it is well worth the money
K. H.
Great for walking the dog and has a lovely restaurant and toilets
L. R.
Overall a nice place for a walk especially when its sunny, I've done twice now when it was raining hot so crowded so ideal for dog walking especially if you want to practice recall with puppy. Also done when it was sunny nice lake area for the dogs to cool off. Just one issue some dog walkers not clearing up behind there dogs which spoils it for others need a few more dog bins and poss at same point some extra poo bags in a dispenser which may encourage people to pick up. I have not been in the coffee shop yet
W. O.
The staff were brilliant and everything was cooked very quick!
Over the last couple of months, the food has drastically improved and they now offer a wide selection of meals with a changing specials board.
C. J.
Been going with my daughter's for years. This is the first time my 2 granddaughter's came with us. Memorable and as usual lots to take in and admire.
R. B.
Fantastic place for children, dogs and adults alike, with easy access and roomy car park. Walks of varying distances for walkers of all abilities with lots of birdwatching. Good cafe, on boardwalk, outdoor near children's water and sand play, and inside where dogs are welcome. All facilities are accessible by disabled
A. H.
Such a beautiful place, really popular, so if you're a dog walker like me, then be careful when you let your dog off lead. But some fantastic routes through a very scenic backdrop
J. H.
Its a brilliant place to go because of the variety there. There's always the birdlife, in great variety, up close from hides. The activities for children inside and out are exciting. The cafe and centre are excellent, the walking is in a wide variety of settings; between railway up close, and birds intriguing you from the lakes, trees and bushes. Good access for disabled nearly everywhere. It never disappoints. J&N
P. F.
Nice pleasant walk around lake nice cafe good day
L. L.
Beautiful scenery especially the lakes. My first time there and loved the walks. Wonderful cafe area with seating outside too. Excellent food and beautiful paintings and craft items for sale. Children's indoor play area too for the young ones. Highly recommended
H. H.
Absolutely beautiful place. There is a play area with sand area and water play area. Cafe and gift shop and indoor play for younger children. There are 5/6 different lakes to walk round with plenty of wildlife to be seen. Viewing huts around the walks. Some of the walks are wheelchair accessible. Parking is cheap at £1 or £2 depending on time of year. Plenty of parking available and disabled parking.
G. E.
Enjoyable park to walk around. Great nature ctr with plenty to keep kids entertained.
R. A.
This place is a real gem. Great buggy-accessible walk around an established nature reserve, lots to see, and hides to use. The native orchids were beautiful - I have never seen so many! And I got my first ever glimpse of a Nightjar. We did a shorter route but you can use a map in the visitors' centre to pick one that suits your time & ability. A good, clean indoor play area with restrictions on numbers so it can't get too busy (we didn't have to wait long to go in). Lots of colouring pencils and papers, and you can get a half decent coffee too. I think there's an outdoor play area too but we didn't use it. All this for just £2 parking? Bargain. Will definitely be visiting again. There's tasty food from the restaurant with options for dietary requirements and for kids - not cheap but it was good quality, and the cakes looked very nice.
E. B.
Perfect place to bring the kids for a run/walk. With various routes to choose depending on the distance you'd like to cover. Bring the wellies and puddle suit as the puddles are sometimes too tempting for the little ones. Routes are pushchair and dog friendly. Great cafe and indoor play area. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. Cakes are amazing! Play area does get busy at peak times.
T. M.
Great short (variable length) walks and cafe has really good food. Been back several times and have always enjoyed the wandering around, recently been back for (autumn 2019) another meandering and really enjoyed the scenery at this of year. Free 1hr play at the indoor kids play area (they love it) and food did not disappoint again.
M.
Excellent walks, great that the cafe hatch is open for takeaways and the toilets are open too. Just remember your pound for the carpark!! Its great to get out in the fresh air and have a socially distanced chat.
P. K.
Lovely place to go dog walking. Different trail's of varying lengths. Nice cafe there to. Highly recommend it
A. M.
Loved it here. Great walk, lots to see and a great range of things for the kids to play on around the visitor centre. Really nice day out.
Inside the visitor centre there are some nice locally made things to buy, and an amazing play area that seems really well thought out and constructed. My 4 year old really enjoyed it.
p. m.
Lovely place for a family day out and most walks are wheel chair friendly
J. M.
Lovely varied walks. Long or short. Lakes birds and cafe. Well worth a visit. We spent a very enjoyable afternoon.
J. L.
Very nice autumn here!
D. B.
A favourite go-to place for a stroll. Great to visit through the seasons to see the changing landscape. Ideal time is either early morning or late evening where you can easily wander around and not see anyone else. Good access for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Great indoor play area for little ones and also an outdoor play area. Gets busy at weekends and during sunny weather.
H. V.
It's a great place for a gentle walk - the routes are all signposted and the paths are mainly stone or gravel. There's a shop and a cafe (which serves good, plain food - both hot & cold).
S.
Beautiful walks with great lake and forest scenery, very peaceful and a great place to spend the day away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
P. F.
Our first visit and well worth the trip to let our friends son explore, and very helpful staff, it made his day out
K. P.
Lovely place for walk
J. H.
A lovely place to visit. We saw a pair of swans with their cygnets. Good meal in the cafe and nice to have an area where dogs can be off lead and have a swim.
A. S.
Wonderful place to explore. Lots of walks and everything is very well signposted. Even saw some deer.
P. O.
A really nice place to walk the dog, but packed at weekends. Good outside drinks/snack bar. Toilets are open thank goodness and well organised for Covid precautions
V. H.
Great fun for Big and small kids!
C. G.
Lovely place to go for a walk. Nice cafe also.
T. R.
Lovely place to visit. We went on the way to our destination. Great walks for the dog. And well looked after.
l. f.
Nice routes for dog walking, see people on bike rides, children enjoying nature. On the off lead route there is a portion of lake sectioned off for the dogs to take a dip, nice cafe and play area, bonus is £1 parking all day in season and free during the off season.
D.
Great place for a quiet walk, or to play with the family. Take away shop still open. Can be busy when the weather is good due to being a popular place. Car park fee.
C. M.
As always all facilities were clean and tidy enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the lakes it makes it so lovely to walk on well kept footpaths. Had lunch in the cafe which we thoroughly enjoyed, a little pricey I thought for just a sandwich but very good quality. We visit regular with our doggy and all owners seem responsible at cleaning up after them keeping it neat and tidy.
M. C.
Absolutely brilliant place for all ages. Outdoor areas are clean and tidy and so much to explore. Make sure you check the map before you set off following an arrow tho...we ended up on the black route not knowing how long it was. Made us laugh and learnt our lesson. So much to see all year round. Food in the restaurant is gorgeous and makes the day last that little bit longer and all the indoor play equipment for ages up to about 6years is fab and adventurous for them.
K. C.
Great walks, loads of bird life to see. Nice cafe and shop.
B. E.
Great place to visit with the kids. Winter time parking is £1 - Summer time parking £2 which I would happily pay as the facilities are well worth that.
The outdoor play area is great for older children, they have a water rail which is closed in the winter months but great in the summer. A large sand pit next to the outdoor seating area where you can get drinks and snacks from.
Inside has a cafe, which in my opinion is slightly expensive but the food has been nice. If the weather is good you can sit on the veranda with sceinic views over the lake.
There is a small indoor play area for children up to a certain hight, it's free but when it gets busy you have to wait and get a ticket. There are some great walks you can go on around the lakes and tons of wildlife.
They have regular events and stands on so it's well worth checking before going. Highly recommend. Dog friendly to 👍🐕
p. z.
Great outdoor area, many walks around the lakes here depending on your ability even if your not that fussed about nature ect, and the outdoor takeaway cafe is open for refreshments. Wintertime parking is £1, not sure when this ends though
J. B.
Great little places. The indoor play area is good for kids aged 28 months to five years I would say and is often not too busy. The cafe does decent food as you would expect and not too expensive the shop often has quirky products I haven't seen anywhere else. We often stop here with the kids.
L. R.
Lovely walks with area for dogs to be off lead. Nice cafe with lake views. Children's play area is nice, indoors and outdoors. Jan Rousseau is a lovely lady who works there and really knows her stuff!
J. A.
Great place to visit, very disablement friendly. Very good pathways for disablement scooters, there are 2 disablement scooters you can hire. There are pathways of various distances to suit you. Extremely peaceful gtreat place to charge your batteries. There is a restaurant and seating areas overlooking a lagoon. There is plenty of activity from wildlife. Great place you children with play areas and things to climb on. All in all a great days adventure. Well worth a visit. You can take a picnic and sit at one of the many seats with benches. Go and enjoy!!
P. S.
Wonderful place just feel parking spaces for parent and baby would be good
m. d. (.
Fantastic nature reserve well worth a visit
N. A.
A good place to take a relaxing stroll and enjoy nature. On one of the lakes it is allowed to let your dog (s) off the lead so they can stretch their legs. Quite a few lakes to walk round so not particularly crowded generally.
S. S.
A lovely place for all the family to visit and walk in, including dogs!
J. F.
Excellent day out, multiple trails to explore, including lakes and other scenic views, complete with benches to pause and take everything in. Plenty of wildlife ranging from squirrels to herons can be seen. Definitely worth it for anyone interested in wildlife photography, or the great outdoors in general.
B. r.
Just the place to walk round and chill out! 🐕🐿🦔🐾🦆🦢 lots of wildlife too. Playground for the kids at the centre with a cafe. Outside tables for picnics so great for hungry little ones! Bring your wellies old clothes and have fun😀
K. S.
Beautiful peaceful nature park.
S. W.
I go for walks here 1 or 2 times a week. Lovely place for dog walks and for kids to run around. Lakes, ducks, swans, cows to see around the walks. Some of the walks are not wheelchair friendly but two of them are very suitable.
G. S.
Lovely reserve, lots of different walks beneficial for you, whether you can walk small distance or far.
S. D.
This is a great place to come with a choice of walks around the lake. The cafe facilities and toilet areas are well maintained and the menu varied. There is an area for small children including a sand place and a water feature which they can play in and learn. For older children there is a lookout post for them to climb and a small climbing area. We come here a lot, the parking is more than adequate for lots of people
S. F.
Beautiful place for a walk and on lead dog walking. There is also a place for off lead. Small cafe is stunning.
D. K.
Whisby nature reserve is a little gem tucked away on the edge of the bustling city. Within minutes from the city centre there are superb views and wildlife to discover
T. H.
I adore this place, it's great to get out of the city and just go walking around nature for a few hours. There are plenty of trails to chose from depending on how long you have and there is plenty of wildlife to see.
My only complaint overall would be the cost of the items in the cafe. So I'd recommend bringing your own food and beverages.
B. S.
£2 to park for the day. Lovely place with toilets and wheelchair accessible pathways. Lots of dogs so very good for walking. Different trails to walk along which are nice and quiet. Really lovely place
p. w.
First visit, bit of mud but with the weather no surprise, Coivid safe drinks snack Kiosk open. Nice for a bit of excersise within the current rules. Wasnt really busy but a fair few people exercising their dogs or just walking.
D. F.
Great place for a nice relaxing walk. Me, my wife and 2 year old son came here and loved it. The massive water table kept our son entertained for ages. The inside play area is good also, small but very interactive. The walk and bird watching hut were also great. We saw lots of wildlife including fish, butterflys and many birds.
K. B.
A fantastic place to visit, with or without kids! There are several different walks around the different lakes, each one abundant with its own species of wildlife. Hides are dotted around the lakes and provide perfect viewing opportunities . There is one walk where you can let dogs off the lead, though dogs can be taken on all other walks on the lead. All walks are easy walking with nice clean pathways.
There is a brilliant discovery play area outside for young children and more adventurous activities for older children. The boardwalk cafe is a must visit with delicious snacks on offer, though at busy times service is a bit slow and queues develop. An interesting gift shop and exhibition area can also be found next to the cafe. The cafe has wonderful views over one of the lakes. Entry is free although there is a small charge for the car park, well worth it! Don't miss the bluetit area adjacent to the cafe, it's hidden behind a hide and some bushes, the views of the birds are amazing!
S. G.
Lovely place to go for a walk. Different choice of distances for the walks.
Can take dogs and there is a walk where dogs can be off leads.
Car park can get very busy yet the walks never seem crowded.
We love going here!
M. G.
Lots to explore, dog friendly cafe and indoor/outdoor seating. Prices were OK, parking is only £2. Will be visiting again.
S. F.
Lovely views! Very nice to come for a walk on a nice day! Also good that the dog walkers do a different route so when you've got a child that is afraid of dogs, you haven't got to worry about bumping into one!
C. H.
Always very nice to visit. Bucolic oasis only minutes away from SW villages and Lincoln proper. Thorpe walk was clean and obviously well maintained. As a dog owner, I was happy to have seen so many other canines present with owners that obeyed the lead rules and had well behaved animals.
M. C.
Fantastic reserve. First class main building with a wonderful restaurant and craft/book/gift area. There are very good walks and hides to rest in and view the wildlife. They have a couple of mobility scooters which you can rent for around £4 for a morning session or afternoon session. Best to ring and ask on the availability of them.
The car park is very large and is reasonably on fees. Blue badge holders can park free of charge. At the time of writing.
Hope this helps.
Michael 🤓
G. W.
Great facilities, guides on hand, all areas kept clean and also the cake is good! Charlotte's moaning as I didn't mention how great the kids play areas are 👍
D. H.
Lovely walk around whichever route you decide to take. Nice play areas for kids. Cafe is large but doesn't have a great feel about it. Could be a lot better inside.
M. B.
Beautiful nature reserve well supported by well run information centre also shop and cafe/coffee shop
M. C.
Brilliant nature reserve with many walks for all abilities. Great cafe and children's safe play areas both inside and outside. Only pay parking to use the facilities and at high season that is only £2.
G. L.
Lovely walks and dog safe walking areas with a beach part lakeside where your dogs can have a dip. £2 parking march to October. £1 Parking November to February.
J. H.
Great place for a lovely walk with or without a dog. Nice cafe for cake and coffee or a meal after your walk. Suitable for all ages as nice and flat. Great indoor play area for the little ones.
S. C. M. A.
Lovely walks through woodland and around lakes. Although the car park was full it is a large area with a few different walks so quiet while walking.
K. T.
lovely, dog friendly, many walks of different durations. cafecand restaurant, outside and inside tables, play areas, really nice place
N. B.
OK it was a lovely sunny day and we only intended to stop for lunch but there is so much to see and do here we ended up staying all the rest of the day.
The car park was packed solid but get out on the pushchair friendly walks at it seems like ages before you meet someone else. We were just passing through and not likely to come back, what a shame 😥
R. S.
A good variety of lovely strolls around this beautiful wooded lakeland. Perfect for little families or dog walking. The café on site always has a good stock of delicious homemade cakes (alongside a regular menu) with plenty of gluten free and vegan options (important to the girlfriend!).
X.
Lots of lovely places to walk, great views, can be busy on weekends and during school holidays but there's enough different ways to go that you can avoid the busiest routes. Kept tidy. Nice place to walk dogs.
A. S.
Beautiful place to visit and walk a dog. Great for children too. Walks for all abilities. Cafe. Toilets, including disabled. Free parking for disabled, £2 for everyone else. Can pay at machine or in the visitors centre. Great play area with sandpit, walkways over the pond and tubes to climb through.
Lastly but most importantly, lots of birds! Its a nature reserve 😁
E. Y.
A beautiful park, full of wildlife including birds, ducks and a variety of plants, is an expanse providing amazing landscapes and routes to walk, hike and explore. I saw beautiful lakes and birds, and for the first time red mushrooms (fly agaris) . I enjoyed walking around lakes and pods. I went there after it had rained so some areas were muddy, but generally they were easily walked and mostly dry.
G. C.
Visited here later in the year, (November) so parking was free, and weather was great for this time of year.
We had some good choices of nature walks, has a coffee shop, free indoor children's play area, gift shop and friendly staff.
Will certainly be revisiting this park again.
C. m.
Great place to walk the dog or take your children for the afternoon. Small play area, cafe and picnic area to use if required along with toilets etc. Multiple walks / routes to follow from short to long and everything in between. £1 to park your car so not going tl break the bank.
C. R.
Lovely walk and food was well organised.
F. M.
Lovely family walk around the lake today. Only let down I feel was disgusting owners of dogs leaving bags of pooh. Saw various bags left, including by the seat on the beach.
C. k.
Lovely place to walk around. Not much wildlife is easily visible but it is beautiful, even in the autumn. There must be numerous birds to spot as there are plenty of people bird watching.
P. D.
Too many dogs. This would be a fantastic place for wildlife but when we visited a very large proportion of visitors were dog owners. I like dogs but such large numbers, even though they are on leads can't help the wildlife. I'm sorry to say this but I think they should be banned from this reserve. I know there is a designated path for dog owners but not everyone uses it at the moment, this should be encouraged. Having said all this it is still a beautiful reserve probably best seen on a weekday when dog owners are more scarce and wildlife more evident.
M. K.
Great little place lovely for a walk and plenty of bird houses dotted around to get the best views of the wildlife. My only gripe being the place is lovely yet they have not incorporated any where for people to cycle. It is a no cycle zone which is a real shame as it is a beautiful area.
a. c.
It s an amaizing park, you have many things to see there and there is also a restaurant with a very nice view, and lots of things for kids as well 😊
K. D.
Very nice walks with easy to follow sign posts. Dog friendly with one lake where you can let your dog's off leads. Lovely coffee shop with a dog friendly area
D. C.
Nice walks on dedicated paths. One path is for free dog walking, but all the other paths dogs have to be on a lead. For food or drink orders either at the indoor cafe of at the hatch for outside. If no one is near the hatch then the staff can not hear the bell, ring it loud to get the attention.
P. A.
Take a walk, take a stroll, relax by one of the lakes, enjoy the peace & tranquility. Enjoy good food in the Boardwalk Cafe or sit outside near the free children's play area with hot & cold drinks and snacks available from the kiosk
A. C.
Lovely little nature spot to take children for a couple of hours fun, beautiful fenland to view and the indoor play area is fun for tots. It is free to get in and only £2 to park, cafe is ok although we only had a drink. Nice little gift shop
D. E.
Excellent place. Beautiful walks. Love coming here. Always have activities for the children and plenty for them to climb on. Only a £1 parking is excellent value. We drive from hull regularly to take the children here.
k. s.
Love this place just need a little more kids stuff out side , and I've never seen the water things working, beautiful and ever visit it seems to change it's beauty. The walks are stunning, some paths need a little work but not that bad still easy enough for walkers push chairs .
B. m. 9.
Amazing place with beautiful views an amazing walks around. An amazing place to get closer to Nature couldn't get an photos but it is an amazing place (free of charge) to go an relax for a few hours
G. R.
Lovely walk and a huge scone with the world's strongest latte afterwards. Cafe staff done really well on a packed half term Monday to stay cheery and get our order out so quickly. Top marks!
T. D.
Lovely place for a woodland walk. Lots of trails to choose from.
Nice restaurant and toilets available.
Picnic tables provided.
V. B.
Fantastic place to walk the dogs on leads some areas you can have dogs off the lead, and lots of trails to walk around lakes. Picnic benches, coffee, kids play area, plenty of car parking spaces and decent parking times also
C. M.
Great place to visit if you've got a few hours spare. Lots of lovely walks of different sizes for all abilities. Car parking is just £2 all day and there is a visitors centre with gift shop, cafe and lots of information about the area.
B. F.
This place is really beautiful & therapeutic however, the lack of information for disabled access is frankly disappointing.
There is no information about the two mobility scooters parked outside or who to ask about them. The parking information is a little bit confusing too. There is very little in the way of benches/tree stumps to sit on as you walk round. The terrain isn't the best for those with mobility issues.
So much more could be done to improve the disabled access & improving the information in the leaflet regarding disabled access.
A.
Fantastic nature reserve. Something for everyone, young and old if you like nature and wildlife. Superb variety of walks and distances. Woodland, heath and lakes. First rate bird watching location. Waders, wildfoul, songbirds, raptors. Everything you could want and all free (apart from car park). Restaurant is great with veranda and splendid views across the lake. Bird watch whilst you have a pleasant lunch. Brilliant.
M. A.
Very wild day when I visited. Restricted my visit mainly to visitor centre and cafe.due to adverse weather. Have visited previously with family who live in the area. Great walks, wildlife and bird watching, several hides on walks. Just make sure you get the better days for the weather!
B. P.
Great walk, shame about all the dog poo.
S. W.
Lovely place to walk the dog.
I. P.
Lovely flat walks around 7 lakes. Excellent cafe, friendly staff and good food with reasonable prices. With kids outside playground, something for everyone.
S. C.
Lovely walk through woodland/lakes from back of memorial hall to whisby nature park. Decent paths all the way..but watch out for traffic near sailing club!
Nice cafe at park with seating both inside and out with views across lake..service was slow..so you dont need to be in a hurry.
Dogs allowed around park ..
Parking available at a cost ( but dont know how much)
There are hides at intervals to watch/ study birds/wildlife..
Paths partially disabled friendly..
R. B.
Great place to walk the dog, lots of different routes which are well signposted. Parking is reasonable and the natural world centre (which you are better putting into Google Maps for directions) is a great base with a cafe and disabled scooter hire. Worth a visit.
E. K.
Whisby is a reasonable short walk around a small lake (an old quarry). It is suitable for young famiies as the terrain is very easy and there is a cafe, car park and other facilites onsite. However because it is practically the only easily accessible body of water locally it is very busy, and no good for anyone craving wilderness and solitude! Better to seek out sections of one of the long distance walks for that (e.g. Viking Way, Trent Valley Way, Spires and Steeples etc). Also for such a tiny lake, it's amazing how little of it you get to see! (Mainly blocked by trees)
A. W.
A lovely place to take the family and dog. Outdoor playground, cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, shop toilets and much more, long walks around the lakes on solid level paths, hides dotted around for the bird watchers.
H.
Lovely walks around the lakes, nice and peaceful. The cafe is open for coffee etc outside. Cheap all day parking.
D. C.
Plenty of parking for a reasonable price (in Feb '18). Extensive range of well maintained and clearly signed walking routes. Various well located hides for watching the wildlife. There is a cafe but we didn't make use of it.
S. P.
Great place to take your kids and your dog too.
S. B. (. P. P.
Great place to walk around, there's several different walks and most of it is accessible for the disabled. They also have 2 electric scooters to hire if anyone should need one. Usually there are the swans, ducks and geese to see, if you are lucky you might spot something a bit rarer.
R. C.
Great place to stretch the old legs, take the dog for a walk, or have a run, I've seen all the above here.
There's also lots of bird hides for you spotter's and a small shop plus a cafe.
Also a play and educational area for the kids.
M. C.
Perfect oasis on the edge of Lincoln - lots of lovely walks suitable for all abilities including buggies and wheelchairs. Saw and heard our first nightingale - fantastic! Visitor Centre really good with a great restaurant - loved it!
D. S.
Carpark is too much. I'm sure people would be happy to go for a coffee or ice-cream here but are put off by the cost of parking. This place is rarely busy but does attract enough to keep it going. I notice that people tend to park on the roadside outside to avoid the parking charges. That is quite dangerous really as it's a fast and narrow road with HGVs speeding past. Please remove parking charges or better still, make periods of free parking like Sundays or weekdays, whichever are quiet.
D. H.
Love the walks- short and long. We love the cafe/ shop and my 3yo loves the play area inside. Not huge amounts for the little children outside,
but the play area is ace for older children.
b. h.
Lovely place for lots of walks, cafe very good 👍
J. O.
Really great wooded walks and several routes to choose from. Lots of bird hides and dog friendly. Great family outing.
S. G.
Love coming here with our 2 dogs. There is only one walk where they can be off their leads which is a shame but, nevertheless, they always enjoy themselves interacting with all the other 🐶s.
D. L.
I been there for the first time, nice and quiet place not much to see cuz lot of private places there
P. R.
Brilliant place, what a lovely day was had by all.
P. M.
Great walk with reserve at the centre great for wild life from birds to deer to moths butterfly's plenty of different walks longer and short worth 2 hours of any bodies life small play area for the kids
S. K.
Lovely nature walk around the lakes. There's a nice café for snacks and drinks.
Informative wardens on hand (mostly volunteers I believe) to offer advice on the flora and fauna. Take binoculars if you have some.
l. c.
Great place for a walk! Lovely little cafe and shop. Great little adventure play park for the children.
C. B.
Lots of lovely walks, around the lake, or through the other areas.
P. W.
A splendid place for a walk. There are several of different lengths, all clearly signposted. A playground or two provides somewhere for the youngsters to tire themselves out, including an splendid indoor one and the cafe is good. A really good spot.
T. C.
Peace and tranquility. Beautiful place to visit.
J. R.
Great for dog walkers and children as nice lake and there is an area for dogs and kids to sample the water. Play area for kids. Eatery if required. Just a lovely afternoon out. Especially if a real good sunny day. Definately reccommend.
S. B.
Nice safe place to take the dogs for an evening dip
H. B.
Superb facility with a great range of walks, most accessible to buggies and wheelchairs. The refurbished railway bridge means the whole park can now be reached by anyone. Some of the smaller paths into the more inaccessible areas do get too muddy for buggies and wheelchairs during the winter.
M. C.
First time there and absolutely loved it. Spent over 3 hours and never did it all
D. D.
This nature park is tremendously loved by the people who care for it and is a treasure to explore and watch nature at its very best. Numerous trails lead to a variety of lakes where wild flowers are abundant including orchids. Bird life excels .
Covid has brought changes which means some considerations have to be made to the way we behave here.
The hides are now open for 4 people at at a time and are doorless with open windows.
It has a first class restaurant , outside eating and toilets.
Everyone works very hard to make it safe for all of us to enjoy.
Mask wearing inside is required, hand sanitisers for frequent use and an active track and trace system which requires everyone to sign in.
Much support for staff is needed here which means everyone must join in the rules if we want to keep enjoying my favourite sanctuary.
A. L.
Great place for peaceful dog walk.
M. B.
Nice place to get some fresh air and a walk. Car park is cheap enough yet people still park on the narrow road outside, maybe when they've paid to replace their wing mirrors when they get knocked off they might pay the pound to park next time!
L. N.
Have visited Whisby for years, a lovely well kept nature parks with a great variety of walks! Also lots to do with kids which is great. Cafe and visitors centre are nice and cafe isn't expensive, a great day out!
M.
Really nice park. Lots of different walks long and short. Good paths for prams etc. Good play area for the bigger kids and a sand pit. Also Cafe on site. Pay and display carpark.
B. S.
Here for social meeting, quick walk around a lake. Though no greeting, welcome or acknowledgement from any staff upon entry to centre & cafe. Nice premises & grounds to stroll coming into Autumn
B. J.
This nature park is so beautiful with lots of trails an wildlife. The lakes are so peaceful. Have literally spent hours in there just enjoying the scenery. Definitely well worth a visit.
M. J.
A great place to see wildlife.
J. D.
Great place for a walk plenty of wild life, easy paths, suitable for wheel chairs etc, + toilet facilities and cafe, no open yet I believe.
C. A.
Very pleasant walk with our dog, nice chat on the way with cheerful friendly representative of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust (we are members of both Lincs and Yorks branches of the trust). Paths were remarkably clear and dry considering recent weather and there was little if any litter. Enjoyed a look around the shop and made purchase. Had a very pleasant and tasty lunch which we felt was good value and found the staff to be efficient and friendly. A very pleasant overall experience, thank you.
S.
Great place for nature walks
A. S.
Wonderful nature reserve with several great public walks available.
S. M.
Excellent place to visit! You only pay for parking, which is cheap, and admission is free. Wonderful experience and the kids had a great time. And what a walk! I'd recommend this as a day out to anyone.
3. B.
Great place, will ve back to visit in the summer. It has a limestone path around most of the walks. I think theres one thats path and grass.
There are scooters to hire for wheelchair users as well. At the time of writing they are £3.50 to hire. You do need to prebook them before going though just to be on the safe side.
They've done a great job at attracting the wildlife so theres plenty of it to see.
E. D.
Super pretty location. Amazing walks loved this place to take the kids too and walk the dog
S. A.
Lovely place, gorgeous walks around the lakes, lovely cafe with a fab menu
C. R.
Fantastic for a walk with a small family. Easy to navigate and lovely views even in the rain

J. S.
I love whisby! Love the walks, they're all pretty great. I can get on all the walks with my push chair (some a bit bumpy but we manage!) great views, most the time it's nice and peaceful. Really nice to get outdoors
B. G.
Prefect for a sunday afternoon, take the hole family along with the dogs, they have a park with climbing frames so young kids can have a play before heading home. There is also a cafe with gift shop, has toilet facilities too so no need to find a Bush to go pee behind
d. h.
Lovely walk around the lake with the puppy, nice little beach part for dog to play in. Around 45 min walk
C. E.
Large nature park with former gravel pits which are now pools. Café and play area, bird hide and tarmac carpark. Parking £1 in winter, £2 in summer. More of a water bird reserve than a general park. Paths are maintained and easy to walk, generally flat.
P. R.
Always a nice place to visit. Good dog walking area too. Easy to park and reasonably priced for a short stay.
G. K.
Whisby Nature park has a large number of lakes with walks all around them and lot of wildlife to see
M. L.
Good parking, only £1 for the day off season, excellent facilities and walks around the nature reserve. Dogs and children very welcome, some tracks dogs can be off the lead.
G. J.
Plenty of short walks in a well thought out nature reserve. Well designed centre with reasonably priced cafe with a delightful seating area overlooking the lake. Good family oriented nature reserve.
K. C.
Nice walks with or without dogs play area inside & out for children plus good cafe with ample seating in & out just pay for parking which is £2 this time of year for the whole day well worth it plenty of birds to see
A. W.
Lots of different walks. Plenty of room to manoeuvre round people. Toilets and take away cafe open. Car park £2 all day
F. S.
The Bistro is brilliant - lots of light and space so it doesn't feel overcrowded even when it's busy, the staff are great, and there's a seasonal a menu which includes a vegan selection! No baked potato with beans for me today, it was a scrummy lentil and sweet potato shepherds pie. Now I need to go back and try the chickpea tagine. ;)
There's a choice of quiet walks around the lake, with some hides for more serious bird watching. The outdoor play area includes equipment specifically for ages 8+ (an age group which is often forgotten about!) and even an outdoor gym that parents can make use of.
Indoors there's a charming wooden play area for kids under 130cm tall (probably best for ages 2-6) which is handy if it starts bucketing down.
Whisby is very popular with dog walkers and some of the walks allow dogs off the lead. Not so good if you have anyone in your party who's nervous around dogs, though!
Ample parking at £2 a pop.
T. A.
Beautiful place to go for a walk. Plenty of different level/length walks depending on your mood.
D. S.

l. b.
5* as we usually visit here a few times a month, sometimes we drive, other times we walk, go around the lakes and nearly always have a meal in the cafe (great burger btw).
This time we got to the cafe about 1530, a bit later than planned but was told we were ok to stay till 1630, got sat down to sort out the babies feeds, in an 'empty' cafe and was told we couldn't do this without buying food and/or drinks, which we were going to do after the babies feeds. Gotta sort the babies out first cos nobody likes a screaming baby...fact!
The lady did point out there was a sign somewhere, who reads signs? When you're lugging hungry twins around? Anyway, it all seemed a bit nitpicky and jobsworthy and tainted what was a nice afternoon.
So if you visit, remember to read the signs.😉
s. t.
