Reviews of Casbah Coffee Club Historic Site
Phenomenal authentic Beatles memorabilia under one roof.
The very first place where Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Pete Best played as a regular paid gig.
Lovingly maintained and providing regular personalized tours by members of Pete Best’s family. Their knowledge of history is excellent and provides a wonderful insight into what occurred in the teenage years of the Beatles (even before they were named the Beatles).
You can book online for the tour and paid on the day. There is no signage at the curbside so you will need to make sure you’re at the right Street number of 8 Haymans Green West Derby Liverpool L12 7JG England 🏴
Once in the grounds the entrance to the Casbah Club is via the rear.
Closed on Sunday (July 2019)
The last sacred place where you can meet the person himself, a reminder of those days.
A capsule in time, just as it was in its time
We loved it. Unknown story.
Safety pin. Beatles the most
The beginning of everything!!! It's worth it!!
History of the beginning of the Beatles.
Fascinating part of not only Beatles, but Liverpool history that I knew next to nothing about.
Ken, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining.
Now this is a fantastic experience. Without doubt the most important Beatles site in Liverpool. Hardly changed since the Fabs were painting the ceiling, helping in the cafe and playing one of the two stages. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the story of this lost gem is amazing.Don’t miss it. Oh yes I met Mrs Best in 1978 in her garden, she chatted to me for a while and I could see why she had been such a driving force for the band. She would be proud to see that her family have kept the club alive.
For me this was a perfect amount of time to spend indulging in the nostalgia of the Beatles beginnings
What an amazing place, I went there for the Beatleweek and I also been so lucky to met Pete Best which is such of lovely person UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE
Fantastic experience! Due to building work Roag wasn't expecting us but still slotted us in and gave the two of us a personalised tour.
It was not so much a presentation as a wonderful performance..Roag was so engaging and made the whole thing come alive...we really got the feel of the place and imagined all those ghosts of long ago..thoroughly recommend it and we will be going back!
Incredible must-see experience for any true Beatles fan. Unbelievable to be up close and personal with artwork painted on the walls by the band members plus Cynthia Lennon. Wonderful to hear the stories of the band playing here before they were famous. Forget the other clubs, this is where The Beatles really got their start thanks to the wonderful Best family! Stories told in such down to earth manner by my tour guide Rory Best who I was so pleased to meet. Forever grateful for this experience, once in a lifetime. (P.s. Got there by taxi - short trip from city centre)
An awesome historic venue for Beatles fans! Pretty much kept as it was when it was.
We got lucky and were in a very small group and had the characterful, amusing Ken as our guide. Not to be missed for the true Beatles fanatic!
Where it all began for The Beatles. Thanks to Ken for the tour, all Beatles fans need to visit this
I visited here with Rory Best in the 70's, long before it was set up as an attraction. I love the Beatles and even met Pete and his mother Mo as well. I had the chance to look around the basement and got loads of first-hand information. I saw the signatures on the walls as well. I bet Roag is much bigger than when I last saw him. More authentic than the Cavern, which was built because the council pulled the original one down. great place to go. Does not go back far enough to my visit, but I remember it well.
Today we visited the Casbah Coffee Club, 8 Hayman's Green, West Derby, Liverpool for the 1st time. I really did feel like I was stepping back in time while being shown round the cellar of the building by our guide, who was friendly and knowledgeable. It's full of original features and was much larger space than what I'd imagined in the past. I 1st heard of the Casbah when I bought Pete Best's book 'Beatle!' back in 1985 when I was 14 years old and here I was in the very place I'd read about back then and where it all started for The Beatles.
You could quite easily imagine a young Pete, John, George or Paul coming round the corner! Its amazing that it even exists now 60 plus years after it all happened but exist it does.
It was well worth the trip over and I would recommend to any fan of The Beatles, if on a visit to Liverpool, to take a ride over to the Casbah!
Fantastic place to visit for the real history of the Beatles. The tour guide was very knowledgeable as he is a relative of Peter Best
fantastic tour. full of interesting and fantastic stories on the Beatles. Rogue Best was brilliant. Engaging, funny and full of stories. we loved it
It was amazing visiting The Casbah. Our guide, Carmen, explained us every detail of every corner. To be there and imagine The Beatles playing in such small space, can feel a very special emotions. Still can see the signatures that John did in the walls. The place was their real beginning. Later they went to The Cavern. Can't explain my feelings, you have to be there to understand what I mean.
I have been there four times and every time it's an amazing experience. We also went to the casbah for the fifty years of the Beatles and to watch Pete Best and his brother on the drums plus every body else that was on stage was an amazing night, even though it snowed really heavy it did not spoil our night. I would like to thank all the pete best family for making every visit a fantastic experience. Thank you again.
Absolutely loved this.Rogue was brilliant telling the story of how the Beatles actually started out thanks to his Mum.Loved the feel of the place knowing it had never been changed. With Rogues enthusiastic story telling it felt as though you felt you were there at the beginning of it all.I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone who has never been.
Fantastic place, oozing with history & a must visit venue for genuine fans of the fab lads of Liverpool. You can sense the nostalgia as soon as you walk in. Rory & Your team, thank you so much for your tour & wealth of all things Beatles. Ben & Dave (Belfast).
This is the 2nd time I've been here and what a great place. If you're a Beatles fan it's a must but if you're a local and have missed this gem you need to go and feel where it REALLY began. ✌
Beatles shrine, frozen in time. A thrill for any fan, echoing to the sounds of the fledgling group. Amazing to wander this cramped venue where pop history was made. Loved it, and the fab tour guide.
Easy bus ride from area of Cavern Club. Casbah is the real thing. Shivers knowing the Fab Four helped paint and did gigs here as teenagers. True piece of Beatle history.
The TRUE birthplace of The Beatles ..a MUST visit .. like a time capsule. And hasn't been demolished, moved and rebuilt like the cavern
This was an awesome tour if you are a Beatles fan you must visit the Casbah. It is worth the trip. Rogue Best was the "best" tour guide. Highly recommend 😃
Where it all began. Very insightful as how the Beatles became the Beatles. Frankly, not much to look at, but the story is amazing. If you are lucky enough to get Pete Best's brother Rogue as your tour guide, you are in for a treat. He is passionate about the topic and shares so many things most people never knew. Very cool!
Absolutely amazing place. So much information given by Roag about the beginnings of the Casbah. Stories of The Beatles and other bands that played there. It's a must to visit
For every Beatles fan a must see event. This is were the Beatles played first before entering the bigger giggs and for the Best family finally some credit for their addition in the end 50's beginning of the 60's
Great price of rock n roll history.... where it all REALLY started... best family are lovely and great to hear the personal stories straight from the horses mouth
Loved it. A super tour for any Beatles fan.
The most authentic Beatles site in Liverpool. It was a thrill to visit the place and we had an excellent guide
Phenomenal old building. So small. Hard to believe this was where the Beatles career started. Not to be missed.
A must for all Beatle fans. Lots of artefacts and to stand in the area where they first played was memorable for me
Lesser known club in Liverpool connectes with The Beatles but an essential visit for any serious Beatles fan.
We went here for breakfast. Really good! The amount of food they give you is good they are a little flexible on substitutions. The quality of the food is good . I recommend this for a good breakfast .
Unfortunately nothing left from previous glory at beginning point of the beatles
You need to be part of a tour group to visit here. This is where the Beatles first performed , before they had a residence at the Cavern club. This club is in the basement of a house There are lots of photos on display and you really get a sense of what it would have been like to see groups performing here. The person who tells you about the club has many stories about the club. On our visit a singer who performed for the tour.
A must see place for any Beatles fan, this was the Real birthplace of the World's biggest band.
Valuable piece of history connected to The Greatest Band of our time The Beatles!
This Is the place you need to visit if you want to know about the beginning of The Beatles
A Beatles fan must!!!
The place difinely is not cared for. The guide was nice but did not grab the audience attention.
Possibly one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to the UK - Thanks for the opportunity to visit this incredible place!
Absolutely Wonderful great Hosts highly Highly recommend a visit
Great interesting visit Roag Aspinall Best is one offbeat character he absolutely makes the visit worthwhile.
Starting point for The Beatles - has to be fantastic. Don't miss this one.
Had a brilliant tour, thanks Ken you made it very informative and enjoyable.
We visited as part of the Fab4 tour. Initially I wasn't that impressed until we started to hear the history of the place. The host was entertaining and obviously had a passion for the place, Mo, and his uncle. Highly recommend!
This place was fabulous. And our guide was Rory Best, Pete Best's brother....very cool.
The place where they first played, as it was then. Amazing!!! And the people were really nice too. :)
Take the tour and you will learn rhe funny way. Love the place and its history.
An amazing place. Great tour guide(Ken).
It's where all started. Lovely place and also exclusive. You need to do it.
Enjoyed a lot here.. Good place.. Crowded... expensive...
Beatles history that is fascinating to see.
It sure is the holy grail of the Beatles trail 💖
Beautiful experience for a Fab Four's fan!
A great eye opener. Must have been amazing back in the day
Bizarrely we have lived within walking distance of this place for over 20 years and never visited until this weekend.
Have to say it was worth it and our guide Kenny was fantastic and brought all the stories of the Beatles and the Casbah to life..
A very interesting and informative tour which is the true beginning of the story that was the Fab Four...
A must visit destination for anyone who likes the Beatles or music in general 👍👍👍
Brilliant
very historical place I have the pleasure of living here.
Good but they could do so much more
Unfortunately it was closed but I will definitely be back
Only wish it was open and serving
It all started here. What's not to love?
Great place with lovely atmosphere
Nice place
Good
Visitors not nice
We did the Beatles Tour included a visit to this club. The Brother of Pete Best was our guide. Great place for who is a fan of the Beatles.
The authentic time chamber
Where the Beatles started.
Awesome
Brilliant
Excellently brilliant!
♥️Beatles!
I like coffee
Incredible
A must for Beatles fans. The operator takes a lot of time to comprehensively shed light on the exciting history of the Beatles. However, due to the Liverpool accent, you should bring an interpreter with you or understand English well yourself. Otherwise you can also look at the many pictures and boards on the walls. Very interesting and entertaining.
(Translated) A must stop for any fan of the Beatles, incredible to be where it all began.
The guide was very friendly, it is recommended to call before by phone to reserve.

Parada obligada para cualquier fan de los Beatles, increíble poder estar dónde todo empezó.
El guía fué muy amable , recomendable llamar antes por teléfono para reservar.
A great insight to where it all began for the Fab 4. Very atmospheric, and some terrific memorabilia of when the Beatles worked and played there. The guide, Ken was hugely knowledgeable, and entertaining. A must see visit for any Beatles fan.
The beginnings of the Beatles with Pete Best on drums. It is a place that has magic.
The basement where the Beatles were born, very interesting and moving to see the ceilings painted by the fab four, place full of history... really great visit, booked on the internet, essential as a place of "pilgrimage"
A wonderful and historic place where the music of the Big Four was born! Every Beatlefan must visit this place, especially since the legendary Casbah is guided by the family of Pete Best (the first drummer of The Beatles)!
Impressive and exciting!
Let it be the first place where they played!
The musical band that changed the history of world music either because of its music and because of each of the members, uff it's worth being there
(Translated) A membership club created by Pete Best's mother for her sons.
The Quarrymen, the predecessor of the Beatles, were performing live. Of course they are not in business now. 20 minutes by bus from the city, it's located on the outskirts of a quiet town and doesn't seem to be on the route of the bus tour that traces the footsteps of the Beatles.

The Beatles were born here. You don't really know how much the guide's story costs. You only listen in English. At the end you find out how much it costs.
An exciting place. A true history of rock and roll
For those who love the Beatles this place is legendary and a must-see.
I had an excellent visit, with the service of a very friendly guide included in the price of £15 per person.
To book your visit, you must access the Casbah website and send an email using their form asking for available dates. After a while, Mr. Roag Best will respond to you informing you about availability and scheduling the day of your visit.
From what I understand, you can request guides who speak English or Spanish.
The visit lasts about an hour, with detailed explanations, interesting stories and some time at the end just to take photos of the place (which has been absolutely preserved in its original form).
The place also sells T-shirts printed with the original Beatles line-up (with Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe) and other great collectible souvenirs such as books, etc.
A highly recommended and mandatory visit for true Beatlemaniacs, since it all really started at the Casbah Coffee Club in the late 1950s.
This is where the Beatles started, as the Quarrymen.
Fantastically preserved exactly as it was when John, Paul, George and Ken Brown played regularly. I visited in September, 2017, and took the tour guided by Pete Best's brother, who was there at the opening in 1959. Fantastic and highly recommended.
The Casbah Coffee Club. Fantastically preserved exactly as it was when the Beatles started, as The Quarrymen. Where John, Paul, George and Ken Brown played regularly as professionals. I visited in September, 2017, and took the tour guided by Pete Best's brother, who was there when it all started in 1959. Fantastic and highly recommended.
The place and story of where it all started. Great little tour with Roag Jr. Well worth a visit, we'll its a must if you're a Beatles fan.
The guide is very friendly, but he only speaks English, luckily my partner was able to translate for me. An experience that a Beatlemaniac must live ❤️🇬🇧
Be sure to check the times for the tours beforehand, otherwise no viewing will be possible! But these are absolutely recommended, I would go there again in a heartbeat!
Historic place where numerous bands have played in this club since the 60s, including The Beatles.
A must for every Beatles fan, fantastic tour by Pete Best's brother!
The most emotional place in Liverpool is almost intact, as if frozen in time. There are still John's notes on the walls.
History of the Mersey Sound and the very first Beatles
🎵🎶🎵🎶🎸
Unforgettable exciting. Interesting to know the beginning of Beatles
I can't buy myself love oh no no no no say you don't need diamond rings and I'll be satisfied
Part of the history, "of the beginnings" of the Beatles. It is worth knowing
Always something to learn about the Beatles
Unbelievable experience, great tour by Roag, great guy and incredible storyteller. A must see for every Beatles fan! Will definitely be the highlight of your trip.
