Reviews of Menier Chocolate Factory
R. M.
I'm never disappointed with a show here, and the facilities are great.
Despite the restaurant still closed due to Covid, you can bring your own snacks to sit at a table, or but drinks at the downstairs bar.
The bar is roomy and atmospheric, with posters of previous shoes, and a friendly crowd always willing to chat about the show you're seeing .
The theatre itself pretty small but adaptable in format, and never has a dud show-- I enjoyed a cabaret style mix of show tunes with a great cast a week ago.
J. S.
One of the best places to see a show in London, in the former 1870s Menier Chocolate Company factory.
J. O. W.
We love seeing shows in this intimate theatre space.
The quality of production is always incredibly high and such a varied selection: comedy, musicals, drama.
This time we saw Alan Bennet's Habaes Corpus .... so funny!
We were really sorry to see that the restaurant had closed - this was always a great place to have a pre- show meal.
Hopefully it will reopen soon?
V. D.
Only just discovered this little gem. We went to see Habeas Corpus last night. The staff we amazing and the bar is cozy and friendly. Will definitely be back when we are down in London again.
P. S.
Lovely space for a bar and theatre (restaurant appears currently to be closed). Saw a funny production of Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus beautifully acted. David Babbani knows which shows to put on to get me visiting!
Add: Just saw the amazing Maria Friedman in concert with friends. Superb. Still worth keeping on your radar.
L. D.
A nugget of period architecture located in a messy, busy location. You would not guess a performance space existed there. Intimate, atmospheric. Could do with a better bar.
I. F.
We've seen a few shows here. This Sunday afternoon was with Maria Freidman and her ensemble with songs by Sondheim, Le Grand and Hamlisch. We had front seats which gave the show an immersive feel.
N. F.
Intimately arranged theatre in the heart of Southwark. Shared bench-style seating close to the stage provides a human connection to productions.
X. F.
Wonderful place. Don't miss it! Small theater with a lot of character and great restaurant to eat before the play. Superb value for money on the set menu. Nice portions and home-cooked.
M. H.
Amazing and better than any mainstream theatre. Watched “ The Boyfriend” and it was incredible! It’s a must see. The bar is quite reasonably priced as well considering normal theatre prices. Good food in restaurant next door and easily accessible.
N. K.
Just seen “Indecent”, wasn’t quite sure what to expect, we love this theatre so trusted that we would enjoy the play. Have always come away very impressed with all the plays we have seen there.
Tonight was absolutely outstanding, The actors put their hearts and soul into their “various” parts, beautifully choreographed and performed. Every single person on that stage had something special to add from the start to the end, ( which came too soon, so enthralling), they got AND deserved the standing ovation at the end. Go and see this play before it goes to the West End you will not be disappointed.

Restaurant: Lovely staff!! ✨Even the chefs (open kitchen) are so thoughtful and kind (given my dietary bollox). I had the smoked chicken salad with pecan, pomegranate and sweet potato.... 😛which was delicious. Extremely fresh and we'll balanced (though a salad for £12 stings a bit). The atmosphere is relaxed, the decor is understated, clean and interesting. With the culinary wonders of Flat Iron Square next door, you need to deliver on service and charm ... which they do!!🎩 So if you don't want to stand in queues forever and be bustled about... come next door... if your wallet can take it. 🍷

I came to watch Maria Friedman & Friends recently and loved the place and will be coming back. The show was great.
M. S.
One of my favourite theatres. The current production of Habeus Corpus is a real treat. Performed with the greatest skill by a fabulous cast.
V. L.
Had a brilliant evening here to see Maria Friedman.
4 stars and not 5 because of the extremely rude young woman on reception who was rude jot just to us but everyone who walked through the door!
R. T.
Excellent production tonight (Sat Oct 16th) but what a disappointing welcome to the theatre at 6.20, walking into a large, bare, empty ground floor space. Was this meant to be the theatre's bar? No way of telling, least of all from the two FOH staff who seemed more intent on talking to each other than in making me feel welcome. I took myself and my friends off to a nearby bar and we came back for the production which, as I say, we enjoyed. But the meeting-and-greeting aspect of the theatre's business was left way behind the quality of the play and its production.
F. O.
Stunning theatre. Absolutely fabulous shows. I wish I could watch every show they put on.
L. H.
Lovely place, good restaurant and bar, and great theatre. Staff are professional and friendly. Well recommended.
G. E.
Such an intimate theatre experience. Always an excellent night out.
P. S.
Great venue for a photoshoot! 📸 Rest rustic vibes 👌🏻
k.
I loved this secret underground live theatre under the cafe. The last night before I returned to Japan. I want to go back there again.
T. D.
Excellent fringe theatre. Stage area is very good for sightlines.
M. S. (.
We (two families) had a meal in the restaurant before watching Barnum in the attached theatre. The food was very good (my cheese and bacon burger was excellent) and reasonably priced. The theatre itself is tiny (about 400 seats, perhaps, in the round), but the show was superb. The actors (in character and costume as Circus performers) interacted with the audience before it began and also during the show itself. One of our party even commented that it was better than the Michael Crawford version! MLS
K. M.
I've seen a few shows here and eaten in the restaurant a couple of times too and it's a wonderful experience. The food is beautiful and the theatre is lovely and cosy and intimate. I love coming here, it's such a treat.
R. B.
Awesome place. Saw Maria Friedman up close, incredible performer.
S. C.
Great show. Very fond of this venue. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff team.
g. m.
Surely the most unusual theatre in London, Meniers' must be the oldest chocolate factory in London and out the back is its small, distinguished stage. Playing at the moment is 'Indecent', about the century old Yiddish play, 'God of Vengeance' that featured the first kiss between women that made it notorious. The travails of the play are like Job's as we follow the performances post war.
Usually, there is excellent food to accompany the action but "not in the foreseeable future" I was told by the box office. But you should visit the place as it is attractive and unusual. The plays are invariably interesting and I recent saw the great Tom Hollander as Henry Carr in Tom Stoppard's hilarious 'Travrsties'.
And you can pop into Borough Market beforehand; or see the burial place of Shakespeare in the small but perfectly formed Southwark Cathedral.
Highly recommended.
D. C.
Full House made this venue uncomfortably crowded. Good padded bench seating but the lady next to me literally sat on my lap when trying to wriggle into her seat. Very narrow exits.
M. B.
Habeas Corpus - brilliant play. Great venue. All seats are good
H. B.
Terrific space. Cute bar. Excellent productions. Looking forward to restaurant opening again soon.
S. P.
Excellent facilities and the play was amazing. We will be definitely be coming back
S. J. M.
Excellent performance Excellent location,Great food. Superb theatre. Recommend you go!
L. K.
Came to see Habeas Corpus the other night and was entirely blown away. If you haven't seen it yet, treat yourself. It's worth it x
A. J.
Despite, or perhaps because of the redesign, Barnum! was outstanding. We didn't eat there, but was still a stunning experience. Wife got tickets, knowing how much I love the show. Couldn't fault ecperience. 3rd or 4th time visiting, and will definitely be back, as and when they have something on I want to see.
I. R.
The play was nice but very little space around. Seats are super uncomfortable.
M. S.
Great little theatre, all seats are excellent, the seats are cushioned benches but they are very comfortable.
N. A.
Great little theatre and the mixing room next door is great also
L. F.
Wonderful theatre with interesring productions and top level casts, but beware the ferocious air conditioning above the premium seats. Several people commented and I asked them to turn it down a bit, but to no avail.
Updating, October 2021. Aircon sorted, and new very comfortable seating. Still bench, but more padded. Great improvement.
W. E.
Visited the Menier Chocolate Factory to see Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4. It's a fantastic little venue. I've not had a bad experience here ever.
B. B.
One of the best fringe theatres always friendly staff
G. L.
Intimate theatre with enjoyable restaurant.
I've seen some very good productions here with the benefit of being right in the action. The theatre layout typically had no more than about 6 rows, so you're never far from the performers.
Restaurant does good simple food, which you can either enjoy stand alone or add as part of a theatre bundle. It used to be that desert was served during the intermission, but can't say whether that's still the case.
Would definitely recommend as an alternative to the more traditional West End theatre experiences. Especially at it gives an excuse to visit the Borough Market area beforehand, or after for continued nightlife
T. L.
Great little theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed Brian & Roger, a great production.
S. W.
We saw "Indecent" which was excellent! Great play & music; great acting. This place does very good stuff
N. T.
Fabulous theatre with great productions - together with a couple of friends we are regular attendees and aim to come to every production!
Highly recommend the pre-theatre meal combination tickets if they're available!! The food is tailored to the production you're about to see... Sometimes a little tenuously but it's a fun experience!
L. S.
Small hall with uncomfortable benches and squeezed sitting. Expensive tickets for the level of the theatrical experience offered.
t. t.
Easy relaxed vibe for pre-theatre meal, quirky vibe in the bar. Have seen about 10 productions here, all with high production values.
B. R. W.
Wonderful theatre hidden near Borough Market. Be careful not to miss the entrance.
J. S.
Very eclectic range of shows at this quirky fringe theatre.
R. M.
A sweet little theatre. I've been to several productions and enjoyed them all. Whatever you do though, try and avoid sitting at the back row close to the wall. I've had the unfortunate luck of sitting there with family/friends a couple of times and it can literally make it unbearable to watch the show and ruin the experience of a perfectly good production, as it gets rather hot and claustrophobic
L. S.
A very unusual and quirky performance space with couches set up on varying levels. I saw the Beethoven Orchestra for Humanity perform here and it was truly magnificent. The basement auditorium has incredible acoustic resonance and the sound envelopes you. Being a smallish venue, you feel more involved with the performance than a mere observer which helps create uniquely special memories. Even being taken through the corridors into the theatre is part of the spectacle. Bravo!
J. R.
My wife and I have seen two shows here and it is a great spot. Very small theatre with a flexible and adaptable stage space. Production values as good as the West End, but in a much more intimate venue. Nice bar and café there as well. If you ever spot a show on here that you would like to see, I would highly recommend it.
C. B.
A lovely little theatre where you are never far from the action! The Fiddler on the Roof was a triumph, it made me laugh and cry. The staff are friendly and helpful. The loss of a star was for difficult access to the bar and theatre for a wheelchair, although the staff were very accommodating and tried very hard to make our lives comfortable. Its an old building which makes for difficulties when changing entrances.
R. C.
Great songs, terrific performances especially from both leads, only criticism. It was slightly too long. Hope it gets to transfer to the West End and takes its rightful place amongst the plethora of good musicals there at the moment.
P. C.
Intimate theater: great actors and stories to tell. This time a musical. We didn't eat there this trip but have in past and enjoyed it. Walking distance from Tate Modern
M. L.
A quiet retreat on busy Thursday evenings. The menu is uncomplicated but good. The food is worth it and the service excellent. Don't forget this as a reasonable alternative to all the overpriced options more evident at first in London Bridge.
L. M.
We've been here five times and never seen an bad show. This venue is often used to preview shows that then go into the west end or tours.
The restaurant is fabulous with a nice selection of dishes to suit most palettes.
There is also a licensed bar and wine list catering to most tastes.
L. P.
It's been a while since I've given a review but this restaurant is definitely worth 5 stars. Excellent food and friendly service. We had a shared Mediterranean platter to begin with, and the lamb shank and chicken mains, along with a very interesting pinot noir from Tyrol. The menu has so many fine choices that I would return just to try them. The wines range from 25 to 100 GBP. When we arrived at about 8pm the place was full but thinned out once the theatre show started.
F. A.
Absolutely delightful small theatre which has a wealth of character.
Beautiful performance of Watsons play which I might add was a delightful surprise with very talented actors. Great drinking and eating place also
T. M.
Fab venue terrific shows.
I. S.
A great theatre seating can be laid out in the round encouraging audience involvement. There is a restaurant there too serving healthy options. Altogether a good night out with easy access to London Bridge station
J. C.
The shows here are always fantastic! Barnum was no exception. Compelling lead and exciting ensemble took you through a story with many circus delights and heartfelt performances. Set was incredible and the cast interaction with the audience made the performance special. Staff in the restaurant area were amazing. We were running rather late but they fit in a delicious pre show meal. We were 1 man down in the party and thought nothing of it but hard luck (it was pre paid) but, the staff insisted we use the money from their meal towards interval drinks/snacks. Perfect evening!
K. E.
Great Theatre fringe venue. Saw Orpheus Descending. The production was simple the acting complex. Loved every minute of it. A great example of how Tenesee Williams should be performed. Let the words and deeds speak. Small venue comfortable and affordable.

A really fun place to eat just south of the river. Cosily tucked away at the London Bridge end of Southwark Street is the superb trio of venues that make up the atmospheric Menier Chocolate Factory: a superb gallery space often showcasing rising artists; the glorious small theatre with a fantastic record of brilliant productions and West End and Broadway transfers; and, by no means least, perhaps the less well known but stonkingly good restaurant.
Let me say right off... don't just eat here pre-theatre, although that's always a value added choice on the cost of your tickets. The Menier's restaurant offers a fun dining experience for a night out with friends and, if you time it post-curtain, the pre-theatre frenzy quietens to the more gentle thrum of casual dining, sprinkled with friendly laughter, in a split-level room furnished fairly eclectically and decorated with theatre posters and photographs. More about that later. It's a good room, served by enthusiastic and knowledgeable waiting staff who know their business, are fun, and offer engaging, relaxed but efficient service.
The menu is not extensive but well chosen by a chef on top of his game... bistro fare you might argue, but all the better for that. We enjoyed sharing platters as starters - all three off the menu at our table of 6 - and they were all super. The melting Camembert, the falafel, and in particular a gorgeous beetroot dressing cut with mint... were standouts; and had some of our party demanding the recipe for the beetroot sauce! These choice dishes helped get the laughter and chatter going at our table for sure. The mains offered an amazing long pork chop as the star - beautifully presented and succulent to eat. There was also a glorious tortelloni that I've marked down as a future choice. Off course I'm going back! Soon!
The only bum note struck me in the decor. I was seated facing a giant poster of La Cage aux Folles, a stand-out Menier production that transferred to the West End and Broadway. They should be rightly proud, and it's a fabulous colourful poster... except it isn't of the Menier original but showcases one of the West End casts. Douglas Hodge won best actor awards in London and on Broadway for creating his role of Albin in the original production and its transfers. Yet the theatre is decorated with a poster that plays up the undoubtedly better known Graham Norton, who was one of a series of people that took over from Douglas in the West End. Shame!
Enough carping... The food is delicious. The wine list is decent and reasonably priced. And, as I said, the service is smart and personable. Menier's offer of a relaxed night out will please both those dining à deux and most groups of friends ... you will be far from disappointed. Go - you'll love it.
A. V.
One of my favourite London venues. Charming and beautiful as a building - and the high standard output from the theatre is unrivaled! Would add pictures but I haven't got any to do it justice!
S. B.
This must be the best kept theatre secret in London - tiny, never advertises and really hard to find, but with high-quality productions with well-known actors which often transfer to the West End. Sit in the front row and you're basically on the stage! About the only downside is the bench seating which isn't all that comfortable.
G. C.
A smashing venue. I really enjoy coming to this place.
Great old building, a good auditorium, putting on lots of really good shows, plus a fabulous restaurant.
I have been here several times and always enjoy it.
If you are coming to see a show, then definitely check out the restaurant while you're at it. Super food.
S. S. B.
Amazing central London theatre venue showing highly original plays, musicals & comedians, often just before they go on to the West End. Have seen at least 8 productions here & all have been utterly brilliant, boasting seriously talented performers. Remains my favourite intimate venue in the capital.
P. B.
Here to see Bridges of Madison County.
Do like this theatre although seats are a little hard but with good legroom.
Had dinner prior to show which makes life easy.
Dinner was nothing special but did the job.
J. A.
Located south of the river near London Bridge station, the Chocolate Factory has had an historical record of good productions. The theatre is small but seating and stage design is flexible and creative. Shows start at 8:00 pm which gives you time for dinner on site.
C. K.
Fun little theatre that can get you very close to the action if that's your thing. The sound in particular was excellent on my visit - put some much larger venues to shame.
K. K.
Great innovative theatre always
B.
Lovely theatre. All seats are good. Small and friendly. Book early though. Very popular and many of the seats are booked by people that keep a look out for whats on
W. D.
Absolutely wonderful space for theatre. Everything I've had the pleasure of seeing here has been outstanding.
Food is also great quality. Fantastic place.
M. R.
Very good intimate theatre.
H. S.
Have just seen Marcus Brigstocke and the amazing cast perform BARNUM. It was wonderful and as far as I am concerned as good as the production in the 80's with Michael Crawford. Loved the intimate setting, great choreography and very talented performers. Well done everyone a truly great evening
Thank you
S. J.
Really good little theatre space and a great play.
M. J.
Great theatre and dining experience. A superb example of "off-West End" and post-theatre dining. Sitting in the front row here beats the National Theatre.
C. C.
Had the meal/ show deal for the Gronholm Method and both were excellent! The restaurant is very charismatic and the food delicious. The play was brilliant. The plot was intriguing and the intimate atmosphere enthralling.
M. P.
Love this little theatre. Went to see Adrian Mole the musical fantastic uplifting production well done to all. Ate in the adjoining restaurant who design the set menu and cocktails around the production ...fun
V. W.
Wonderful, intimate theatre. Easy to get to; we pre-book parking in a hotel car park opposite. The theatre has an excellent range of productions. Love the atmosphere. Has restaurant for pre-show meals that is always busy.
M. B.
Quaint venue, great shows
J. F.
Great resturant, fantastic theatre. Saw fiddler on the roof, an absolutely incredible cast and one if the best shows I've seen. Would definitely go here again
C. J.
Saw Michael Urie in Buyer and Cellar and it was fabulous! Amazing venue, really intimate. haven't eaten there yet but the smells wafting out of the kitchen as I walked through to the theatre, were amazing!
C. P.
Great venue with great productions.
a. a.
Everything here was very delicious. Steak was cooked well, chicken was moist, portion sizes were modest, but I did not expect massive portions; it was enough to satisfy my hunger.
The desert was also very delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.
J. H.
Indecent may sound a heavy play, but beneath its many layers is some fine Yiddish fun.
C. P.
Loved the theatre. Very clean restaurant .x
J. H.
The buuilding is beautiful and has been renovated but with all of the original features which is so lovely. The restaurant is wonderful serving an array of foods at reasonable prices. Theres also a theatre and an art gallery which makes for a great evening. I would bring friends family and even a date!
R. B.

L. D.
What an amazing place. Good food in a great venue. What made it was the theatre production of Barnum. The cast were terrific and the theatre surroundings made you feel as if you were part of the show. I would definitely recommend.
A. H.
Just watched the matinee of Barnum. Absolutely fabulous! Another amazing production from this wonderful theatre. The cast gave brilliant performances; Laura Pitt-Pulford was outstanding as Chairy Barnum, and Marcus Brigstocke was wonderful in the lead role - his singing skills weren’t necessarily award winning, but his humour and amiability won through. The ensemble were however, without exception, spell-binding. Truly magical. A must see!
C. R.
Lovely food and delicious rack of lamb but literally only 2 chops in the portuon! I understand it's a tapas but for almost £12 we were disappointed. Service was good and friendly staff
K. A.
Love this intimate little theatre with it's own restaurant. Have seen many wonderful productions here which have gone on to the West End. A favourite!
U. O.
This used to be a choclolate factory and is now a theatre and restaurent. The space is lovely. It's fille dwith history and is very interesting. the food is also nice but very expensive for what it is.
The theatre is great. i recently went to see The Colour Purple there and it was incredible. Great theatre space and there's not a bad seat in the house.
For the theatre, take cash, as it's a cash bar only. It's more a theatre trip kind of venue.
T. C.
Fun little theatre. Friendly staff
S. C.
We went to see Barnum with Marcus Brigstock and Laura Pitt. A fantastic play enhanced by a most striking theatre (in the round) where you can almost touch the actors. A highlight of our year so far.
S. D.
I've only ever been to the bar here - this is a top secret spot for those who want a drink in Borough but prefer to sit down rather than stand. Cash only, but a great wine list, and I hear great things about the theatre here - one day I'll visit!
M. H.
All seats are good seats, so book away if the only seats left are at the back
B. J.
have been coming here for 10+ years and would always reccomend it! of course not every show is 10/10 (all down to personal taste) but the theatre itself is lovely, staff are always great, and the restaurant is fab too. i’ll keep coming back!
T. S.
A small theatre with a close-up audience. Comfy seats and good views of the show.
Enter through the restaurant. The staff there may be busy, but they'll tell you where to go.
E. P.
Great show with Maria and co.
S. G.
Went to the Restaurant which is superb, all different priced menus and good atmosphere! Followed that with the show 'What's it all About' which was absolutely fantastic. Would go and see it again! The theatre is interesting and intimate!
J. C.
Superb theatre with a great restaurant attached.
j. M.
Actually went to the bunker theatre under chocolate factory. Good atmosphere, not great if you have mobility problems. Very steep entrance. Good show.
J. M.
Had an excellent meal with friends before Love in Idleness (also excellent). The staff were really friendly and helpful and we LOVED the option of having our dessert at the interval of the show!
M. R.
Amazing and almost off the radar theatre. My wife and I saw Barnum and absolutely loved it. There's even the possibility of free parking after 6:30pm right nearby. If you're lucky that is.
J. R.
Seats a bit cramped and uncomfortable. Interesting venue, though. Sausages and mash for lunch was great, but chef had no idea what Borscht was.... it was terrible.
N. K.
Small venue so audience is close to the stage.
N. N.
One of the best theatres i've been too!! They put on amazing shows that you would not normally find on the West End.
Often find Sondheim shows on here too, an absolute treasure!
M. J.
Great value on their 2 or 3 course price fixed menu. Quick service that allows you to attend an enjoyable play at the same venue.
G.
Trevor Nunn did it again!Bravissimo!
The play The Fiddler on the roof is based on Sholom Aleihem's story Tevye the Dairyman and is very touching, sincere and sad story.
One of these musicals which don't end well and yet amazing plot, great lytics by Sheldon Harnick and outstanding music by Jerry Bock create an unforgetable evening.
Andy Nyman is a great actor and very convincing Tevye though a bit of a voice could help.
Matt Corner as Fyedka is really getting there.I thought he was russian. All girls were simply spot on.
May be worth leaving more space to sit next time-felt a bit crowded but didn't spoil the play.
D. B.
"Indecent" - a brilliant cast and evocative and very moving production
G. S.
Delicious food before the play, which was very good. Unfortunately, it was a little too warm in there towards the end, so my attention waned. Otherwise an excellent evening.
S. M.
Fantastic show (Fiddler on the roof) but we were packed in very tightly on bench style seats - not very comfortable!
G. S.
We enjoyed our supper in the restaurant, then saw a wonderful performance of Fiddler on the Roof. Great singing, acting, music and dancing
B. K.
Excellent restaurant with good food and great staff. The theatre is very intimate and the play we saw yesterday The Lie was brilliant.
R. W.
Great venue with quality plays and musical theatre
M. V.
I've seen some amazing productions here. The quality often exceeds shows in bigger west end theatres. I would highly recommend.
s. c.
Great theatre. Small and friendly. Good restaurant and good too. Meal and ticket packages good value.
W. R.
It is an enterprising theatre South of the river. Easily reached from Waterloo or London Bridge. Good restaurant. Interesting range of work and well known players.
G. B.
Barnum was the most amazing live performance I have ever seen. The Chocolate Factory was the perfect venue and I would highly recommend a visit.
R. J.
This place sounded right up my street. A restaurant in a former chocolate factory? Say no more, I'm sold.
I'd been tasked with finding a restaurant for lunch before we went to see The Comedy of Errors at The Globe (more on that soon) on Friday. We needed to be close enough to dash off to our seats once we'd eaten our fill, didn't want anything too expensive and didn't want a chain. That narrowed our selection down quite significantly so after some Googling and Try This For-ing, I laboriously booked the Menier Chocolate Factory for our pre-theatre dining.
It was never going to be easy though, was it? My mum's train was delayed which meant we had to push our table back (which was fine) and hotfoot it down the packed South Bank to Southwark. Finally arriving at Menier, we were greeted with a beautiful old warehouse building that, true to its name used to be the site of a chocolate factory, now houses a restaurant, bar, rehearsal room and theatre. We had just over forty five minutes to order and eat which was always going to be a push, despite the very friendly and accommodating staff, so any expectations of a relaxing lunch went completely out of the window.
Mum went off-piste and ordered the burger (£11) - patty, bacon, cheddar, relish and lettuce - served with chunky chips and a small pot of ketchup on the side. Predictably, the behemoth that arrived was vast and a little on the dry side but for someone who doesn't tend to order burgers that often, devoured in double quick time.
I went for the carne sharing platter, the size of which is in the name. A vast plate of chorizo, parma ham, teruel lomo was fringed with two slabs of duck and ham hock terrine (dry but I soldiered on), tzatziki (underlyingly fizzy but also soldiered on), olives and huge amounts of warm khobez bread. At £15, the portion size of some of the elements was more than ample but the ingredients themselves were a little lacking in flavour, taste and finesse. I didn't manage to finish as time was against us so I felt a little bit done in when handing over my card for the bill but reassured that we hadn't opted for a pricier menu.
Saying our goodbyes, we fled back to the river just in time to take our seats for what, of course, would be the showstopper of the day. Shakespeare, of course, can do no wrong. Menier Chocolate Factory, on the other hand, gets a two and a half out of five from me.
R. M.
A wonderful venue: intimate and welcoming. Excellent performances with Dine + Theatre options
M. R.
I adore this theatre! You get to see the shows with big names in an intimate setting before they hit the west end.

Cult drama venue
R. B.
Lovely hamburger, greatest show on earth: Barnum!
J. H.
Have seen many productions here but my favourite was Candide. Wonderful production, performers and musicians. A truly memorable show.
G. C.
Great theatre venue in an historic building. They put on some really interesting stuff here. Good for a bite to eat too.
D. B.
Had a great time at Spamilton. Great laughs. Helps if you know the American references. British and Aussie actors use American accents. Made it easier for this Yank to follow.
D. C.
Seating is so cosy and comfortable that 2 hours sitting felt like just 10 mins! Theatre is wonderful. Lovely atmosphere.
b. o.
Rubbish customer service...After arriving one minute late for the curtain due to transportation, I was told to sit in the lobby and miss half of the play by the obstructive box office manager. A wind up followed, after they repeatedly refused to refund my money, and I was rudely informed my choice was either to wait for one hour or go home. Where's Mr. Selfridge when you need him?
a. l.
Everything is small & personal. The best theatre in London. Super restaurant. The meal deal is excellent value.

The best off-West End theatre to catch brilliant shows before they transfer, particularly the musicals of Stephen Sondheim. Amazing restaurant too.

Great theatre space with great previous history of transferring it's productions to the west end. Great sightlines and creative productions.
g. b.
The Foodie Night at the Menier Chocolate Factory on Friday, 22nd November was brilliant, we had a most enjoyable evening. Our favourite course (one of six served with complementing wine) was the treacle cured beef fillet (melt in the mouth) served with sauteed baby gem, carrot puree and roast potatoes and a tastebud tingling cabernet sauvignon. Thank you to all concerned, chefs, waiting staff and sommelier who gave a comprehensive summary of each wine. We look forward to the next Foodie Night!
F. P.
Saw "Adrian Mole: the musical" here and it was beyond excellent. Really top quality show for the small theatre.

(Translated) A place worth visiting, if only because of the interesting musicals, quite nice restaurant on the ground floor, nice service, food is also quite tasty, the only remark is that the waiter informed us about the gluten content while serving the soup ...
The service is also very efficient, express 😊
Musical fantastic, unfortunately you can't take photos or movies, but it's worth seeing the show 😍
I highly recommend because of the artistic experience 👍
(Original)

(Translated) Excellent food, great atmosphere, good service. Next door, performances take place in a small theater room. If you book early enough, there are very reasonably priced menu deals (entrance + food) - recommendation!

Hervorragendes Essen, tolle Atmosphaere, guter Service. Nebenan finden in einem kleinen Theaterraum Auffuehrungen statt. Wenn man frueh genug bucht, gibt es sehr preiswerte Menu-Deals (Eintritt + Essen) - Empfehlung!

(Translated) Great gallery. But everything is as usual ... The electricity went out and the locals did not even worry. There was work for an hour, but they didn’t give me work. Nobody knows when it will be restored now!
(Original)
Отличная галерея. Только всё как обычно... Электричество замкнуло и местные даже не волновались. Там работы на час, но не давали. Когда теперь восстановят не знает никто!
