Great services but unfortunately have to mark down for totally over the top Covid practices. Asking patrons to use a new, disposable mask is extremely wasteful and unnecessary. Taking temperature was also deemed inaccurate ages ago for knowing if someone has Covid. I’m mostly concerned about the excess waste though.

My first time visit to the salon. Unfortunately, it was a very lukewarm experience. The receptionist deserves 5* as as she very kind, welcoming and generally attentive. Sadly, my hairstylist had no opinions on his own. I came in to discus my new colour and hear what he thinks about it. He didn’t even checked my hair quality, structure, the colour before wash. No comb through to see the scalp. He had nothing to say. Nothing to recommend me. There was no discussion. Not even bloody shampoo to offer me. I was so willing to spend money and have a finally done some rewarding treatment after hard work. He was nice and polite, don’t take me wrong but I expect from the stylist a bit of creativity, opinions and advises through my visit. I was not even offered a water no he did not massage my head which I was so looking forward to it (that was the worst of all). He did a decent cut but blow dry was a bit boring. I wanted a nice volume but received just a generic blow dry (picture is taken right after visit). It was a bit rushed (salon wasn’t busy). Just nothing special. I would not recommend it. There was no difference between £25 cut in Turkish hair salon or this £69 one.

Daniela was incredible, she turned my brassy outgrown hair into shining, summery brunette locks. It looks so natural, she gave me exactly what I asked for and I couldn’t be happier.

Fantastic salon, really welcoming, calm airy environment. So many salons blare pretty awful ‘muzak’. Shine was absolutely fine. Good lighting. Staff following exemplary covid safe measures. A huge thanks to Alex for a genuinely uplifting haircut. Sorry I was yabbly, blame the italian coffee! Thank you very much.

Been going to Shine for many years, they have adapted to make it a very Covid-safe environment, with emphasis on ensuring staff and customers feel safe, still offering an excellent service. Great hairdresser professionals, I have never had a bad hair cut or colour, and have often been asked which hairdresser I go to for a recommendation.

so I just wanted to leave some feedback regarding my recent experience at Shine Holistic. I’d been in a few times before and initially had my consultation back in June I think? I came in to ask if they could restore my complete mess of a hair. It was so dry, damaged and the colour was awful as I’d been on and off bleaching it at home over the years and allowed it to grow out for a year. At this point, I didn’t have much hope for my hair and just wanted it to look better than it was, and asked for my roots to get bleached up. With the help of the staff at Shine, I was feeling fairly happy with my hair again by the end of July. However – after my last visit, which was today, I am seriously over the moon with my hair and can honestly say I’ve never felt more confident with it. This is 10000000% due to Jessica. Throughout the appointment, she asked about the future I wanted for my hair (my hair goals), gave me plenty of advice on how to protect and care for it (because I’d really messed it up in the past) and kept making sure I was happy along every step of the way. One of the things that I really loved was that through every step, she’d explain what she was doing and what it would achieve so that I understood what was going on and felt super comfortable throughout all of it. I appreciate that put so much effort into getting my hair as perfect as possible and felt as though she went the extra mile in making it look so perfect where other hairdressers might have given up or not tried as hard. I think she’s full of creativity and energy and she displays that in what she does, I’m well happy with the result and honestly so many of my mates have said this is the best they’ve ever seen my hair. Being someone who had really bad hair when I’d initially come in, and hence had super bad confidence in my hair for so many years, and also was superrrr super nervous even coming into the salon each time because of the state my hair was in, I am incredibly grateful to the way in which Jessica boosted that confidence back into my hair. She was also so lovely to chat to, super chill and caring (I had a bit of a sick turn at some point) and I don’t see myself ever wanting to get my hair done with anyone else ever again. So yeah big up Jess she’s the absolute best I can’t stress enough x

I've had one great hair cut here and one bad one. Wish I could remember the name of the first stylist I saw! The second stylist gave me a really unflattering fringe and when I said I was unhappy I was still charged £60. i won't be returning.

Five stars for the treatment and the beautician, but if it was for the receptionist I would give this 1 star. I had booked an appointment on Tuesday with them, I arrived and they told me the card machine wasn’t working. So we agreed to move the appointment to Saturday because of that. So far so good. As I had some commitments before the scheduled appointment, I made sure to pop into the studio a day before to tell them I may run 15-20 minutes late. Fast forward to the day of the appointment, I am indeed running late and I receive a call from the receptionist. She tells me it’s the second time I am cancelling, after Tuesday. I reply to her saying that actually no, on Tuesday the appointment was cancelled because of their card machine not working, as I had showed up there on time. Her response “well I don’t care if you get your treatment or not, you need to pay the cancellation fee”. All this despite me having pointed out I was going to run late to the appointment well in advance. If she knew this was going to be a problem, she should have just asked me to book an appointment later for instance. Instead she was incredibly rude for absolutely no reason. However, I want to give this 5 stars because the beautician Poly was wonderful and did a great job.

Got a half head of highlights corrected by Jess yesterday and i’m so so happy! My hair was done awfully at a different salon and, to be honest, I thought it was unrepairable. However, Jess managed to get correct of all the white stripes and blotchy bleach and also colour my hair perfectly. it looks beautiful and natural. 10/10 job thank you :)

5 stars for a really great massage from Linda. She really helped me with my jaw pain and neck, head and shoulder tension. It's a delicate area but I felt I was in safe hands and she also gave me some useful tips for at-home.

I've been coming to Shine for my haircuts for nearly 10 years now. Lara and Alessandro have been my stylists, and both have been great at translating vague ideas into excellent haircuts. I go because they listen to what I am after and at the same time bring their professional ideas and suggestions. I like to have a bit of fun with my hair, and I always leave with a broad smile. (And the massage chairs at the washing station are a nice little treat.)

Had the fantastic Himalayan salt scrub and facial. I came out feeling so relaxed and my skin felt amazing. The staff were all really welcoming and friendly and I felt like my therapist look a real interest in what my skin needed.Looking forward to my next visit already!

Liked my haircut but wasn't quite short enough - the stylist said I could come back if it was a bit too long and she would trim for free. However when I called they tried to charge full price with another person as she was 'too busy'. The first appointment was a great service - shame about the follow up.

What a great find! I now have an amazing hairdresser (Daniella) right on my doorstep, and can have treatments too. Lovely staff, relaxing atmosphere - the massage chairs for hair washing are a nice touch! Highly recommended

Knocking stars off for recent bad experiences, including a haircut that was confirmed over email which actually wasn't booked in (wasted trip to a difficult part of town to get to, with no real apology). I've come here for both massages and haircuts (cut'n'colour). It's very clean, with a tray of mini-pastries at the weekend, a great selection of fashion and design mags, and the staff are universally friendly. Angela, who does my hair, is lovely, and seems to really get what I'm after - I usually leave feeling great, with my long straight hair how I want it. Also sells Aveda products, although these tend to be pricey.

Hi recently had a appointment with Poli at shine in the Stoke newington branch and I must say every time I get my waxing done they are so friendly and are super super professional, it’s a real pleasure. It might a little more pricy but it’s worth the great service!!

I normally have my eyebrows threaded in the relative uncalm of Dalston's Kingsland shopping centre on the cheap, but having had my fringe cut this morning, I thought I'd treat myself and have it done locally. At £13, the threading was reasonable given the venue and the quality of the treatment, was very good value - more than I'd normally pay, yet I've been charged £25 for a mediocre and rushed service before. The lady who served me was very friendly and took her time, plus I was super relaxed and listening to joss stone, which definitely makes the difference - 5 stars because I'll be going back! PS this place is far, far larger than it looks from the outside.

Treatments fine, but what was a relaxing experience was marred by rude and snooty reception staff. Probably just go somewhere a bit more welcoming if you're going to spend your money on beauty treatments. Surely that kind of thing is all about the customer experience? Getting ignored whilst standing at the desk (and there's three staff at the desk) and being spoken to like a turd is not cool when I'm spending £60 on an hour's treatment (which in itself was lovely). Will go elsewhere next time.
