Reviews of The Graffiti Tunnel
K. T.
Although graffiti art is not really my thing there was some really amazing pieces of art and such a really interesting place to visit.
You know you found the right place when you walk up to the tunnel entrence and get the strong smell of spray paint.
It's a great place to revisit as there is constantly art being done over the top of the previous so it will always be changing.
I'm glad I visited and hope to go back again in the future and see all different art that's been done.
C. h.
Some of the best graffiti art in London. If you are lucky you will get to experience the luxury of seeing the artists creating the art then and there. Worth going back regularly as it is a street gallery that constantly evolves.
R.
I love this place! I go there often: it’s got these artists painting their hearts out on the walls and other people clicking them. Almost everyday is a new wall 😍😍
O. C.
Unique street art only 0.3m from Westminster.
Admire their work and the way they expressed their art.
B. B.
Very cool place, filled with beautiful art and even has some restaurants with entrances in the tunnel. Great spot to see some art from unsung artists- great place for unique photos/Instagram shoots- well recommend for something different to see in London. Right next to Waterloo station as well so very easy to get too
D. M.
10 years in London and I've only just seen this place.
This is a very cool area. The art is amazing. And you're almost certain to see an artist spray painting a new mural every time you go.
Right by Southbank and Waterloo, go check it out. And yes, the fumes and smells are everything you'd imagine.
A.
If you love street art, you’ll love this impressive tunnel that is covered from floor to ceiling in constantly changing graffiti art.
J.
Had so much fun here. It's a museum of modern art in It's own right.
L. S.
Came across the vaults by accident, i loved it in the tunnel, so much artwork to look at, and some of it was pretty amazing, spoke to a few artists in there, they said the art work is changed regularly by other artists... we went also late at night and there was a team of dancers practising a dance routine, great place to be . We love it .
O. B.
It's a tunel next to 0.3 miles to Westminster Bridge. Tonel is fulm of Graffiti and ongoing artworks, few artists here and there getting on work, few tourists and random people strolling by.
A. S.
Good to see all artists expressing themselves shame when they cover over some wonderful pieces
G. T.
Amazing artwork, will visit again for more photos. Wish I knew who the artists were.
B. S.
Amazing space, live Street Art Gallery. A real must if you are fan of graffiti. Visit often as 'the exhibition' changes regularly. Well recommended!
A. H.
Wow if your into graffiti this is the place to see. If your good with a can of paint you can make a picture.
A. A.
One of the coolest graffiti areas. We were afraid it would be a scary/ unsafe place at first but it was kind of a lively area even though we went there in the evening. The tunnel is worth visiting if you’re nearby. It’s also a few minutes walk from BFI Imax movie theater.
s. j.
Amazing place to visit well lit and safe
J. L.
Such a cool experience and hidden gem in London! Just a quick stop; we probably spent 1 hour if not less. The murals are really impressive. We were lucky enough to see a couple artists working on a new piece while we were there! Great place for pictures!
G. S. W.
Cool spot for checking out graffiti. Photography and adding your own artwork to the tunnel. With some bars and restaurants inside too.
E.
Amazing artistic place where to go for a walk whilst in central London. It is quite hidden, the easiest way to find it is by exiting Waterloo station from platform 1-10 and keeping right until you find a small walkway entrance with lights.
There is usually someone making up some new wall art during day and night
D. N.
This is hidden gem in London. Not far from London Eye and yet it offers a completely different experience from those turistic places. The tunnel mutates as new graffitis replace the previous ones every day. It is free and usually not crowded. There've been in the recent years new businesses in the tunnel offering food, drinks, music and arts.
D. Y.
This place take you out of London. There's always something going on down here when passing through, from graffiti artists (who are amazing by the way)🎨 to dancers and people making videos for all sorts. Not to much but definitely worth a visit if in London. 10/10
Ps. There's also a restaurant thats inside one of the door ways in the tunnel.
W. P.
Incredible and free place to visit, with absolutely amazing Art. It looks difficult to find in the map, but in practice is very easy to access from either the north or south end of Leake Street. You can see artists producing their craft most days. It is definitely worth stopping by for thirty minutes during a tour of the city
z.
I love the graffiti art. worth the visit
R. T.
Was at the Graffiti tunnel all by myself...was indulged by the beauty of all the awesome creations. Made me wonder why graffiti is illigal, world would be a colourful and illusionary perfect to live in if creativity and expression are not supressed.. Given 5 stars, can't express enough the beauty of the sight.
D. D.
Amazing place to visit if you appreciate the artistry of graffiti. Good that theres a dedicated outlet for creativity.
S. G.
One of the cooler things I stumbled upon and it’s funny because it’s in one of the more touristy areas of the city just behind the London eye. I even saw entire families doing a Sunday graffiti outing with their young children. Very interesting to say the least but at least this is a sanctioned area and everyone was having fun. There’s a few really good ones too.
S. C.
Very cool there's always new art to check out. It gives you a sense of what Londoners are going through. A must do for any tourist or local.
F. A.
Lovely spot to explore graffiti culture.
While you may not get some of the complex graffiti works you may see in Shoreditch or Camden, you get quickly changing almost weekly change of the tunnel and always a fresh smell of paint and chance to see artist at work.
M. A. R.
One of the best Graffiti in the area of London.
C. c.
Leake Street Tunnel is great to see but if you like some artwork take a photo because if you return the next day or a week later it will be replaced by some new artwork
T. L.
If you find yourself near Waterloo Station you must pop in to see Leake Street Tunnel and Leake Street Arches. You will see street art and graffiti being created before your very eyes. The walls are full of colourful urban art. There are a few restaurants, bars and cafes under the arches. It is a great place to explore.
s.
This tunnel looks dark and scary, so bring somebody disposable with you - to send in first. Give them a few minutes head start then phone to check they’re OK. If there’s no answer, then forget it, and go home. Come back another day with someone else. But if they do answer, then go on in and take a look at the most dynamic art exhibition in existence.
I won’t describe the art because it’ll be different by the time you get there. Actually, it’ll be different now, just one sentence further on. You’ll see paintings the size of houses as you walk through, but they’ll have been replaced by the time you pass that same spot on your way back out again.
On busy days, the air can be thick with paint fumes so you may want to take a couple of jars of air in with you. Some artists wear protective face masks. Others don’t bother, and after a couple of hours you’ll see them floating about painting the ceiling.
I would recommend getting here quickly. Building work has started in the area, and soon this could be a street of trendy cafes, and once that starts, it could all end in complete Starbucks. Also, the layers of paint are building up fast. I came here for the first time a few years ago with my wife, and I’m sure it was bigger then. It may not be long before this tunnel is just a very colourful pipe.
And, now I come to think about it, the first time I came here, I was alone. My wife was going to follow me in, but my phone was on silent, and I missed her call.
J. P.
This is a few minutes walk away from London Waterloo Station, if you are into street art then you would love this place/tunnel, covered with graffiti and tags, the art work keeps changing everyday, as the art is painted over, it is very popular with the street artist. This place can look eerie and a bit scary, but don't be fooled, this is a lovely place and quite safe, I've had no issues everytime I visited this place.
H. Y.
This is a legal zone where artists can do whatever graffiti they want. Feel free to graffiti there. You can use any wall, even if it had already been painted on. However beware that graffiti there doesn't last very long, likely a few days at best
R. G.
Pretty rad place to go to express your creativity. The other graffiti artists were pretty chilled and just did their own thing.
There was lots of excellent graffiti to behold.
D. J. M. L.
Gorgeous open space full of interesting graffiti and street art!!! Beautiful paintings covering floor to ceiling. A must if you are into street art. Also check out the bars and the vaults
K. B.
Definitely worth a visit. The art is fantastic... we took our 14 year old son and even he was impressed 🤣
J. W.
The photos you see here on Google won’t reflect what you end up seeing or having described to you when you visit yourself, as The Graffiti Tunnel is an ever-changing, always-evolving tapestry of street art. Visiting by yourself, especially after sundown, isn’t highly recommended — you’ll want to focus on the boundless mural, without worrying about safety! There are a number of cafés and watering holes where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat, if you want to relax and refuel while watching artists making their marks on the walls, ceilings, and floors. Also a very handy thoroughfare for cyclists who don’t want to skirt around the sprawling expanse of Waterloo Station.
P. W.
Incredibly talented people showcase their artwork, colourful, vibrant and well worth a visit 👌
S. S.
This place is sooo amazing.. it's like watching every artists innermost desires and feelings.. the place was so beautiful. We were even lucky to watch an artist create a masterpiece there...
E. A.
Unique street art location in london
A. S.
London's greatest legal graffiti wall lies just below the railway tracks. Personally, I have no problem spending time there alone – but I wouldn’t ever go down there at night. I’d also recommend visiting with friends – the entrances are quite hidden and it’s better to enjoy your time in the tunnel than spend it worrying for your safety!
j. v.
Really nice place.i love the vibe.and the creativity, hard work and passion the artists put into their grafitti work.
A. N.
This is a place for everyone who lives graffiti and wants have a bit of a quirky London experience. Filled with ever-changing graff, populated by local dance troupes and excersise groups doing funky stuff, lived by the motorbike owners, who tend to meet there sometimes, chosen as a popular destination for music videos, short walk to the south bank, not to be missed!
I. L. (. G.
Are people forgetting about this place but every time I come through here I am always amazed by the share talent
E. D.
Definitely a cool alternative place to visit!
L. D.
Chilled spot, cool graffiti, nice vibes! Nice to sit and admire the artwork
K. G. P.
Stumbled onto this gem and found it to be quite magical. Luckily I had my Nikon around my neck to get some low light shots. Asked the artists if I could photograph them and they were happy to oblige! Very cool spot.
D. T.
If you come into London via Waterloo and you've never been, you've got to ask yourself why?
It's an ever changing wall of art created by some amazing artist, and you even watch them work.
Check it out. It'll brighten anybody's day.
G. G. M.
One of the most popular urban sites in this category.
A legal area to make graffiti that has become a tourist attraction.
It also has a very good location with a very good neighbour and more tourist attractions, Waterloo.
Oh! You have some club inside the tunnel!
Normally there are graffiti artists every day making new works, some are truly impressive. Recommended for lovers of this art.
D. O.
Not seen anything like this before. Clearly the work of talented graffiti artists. I understand the graffiti changes all the time as old pictures are painted over with new ones. Definitely worth a visit. Restaurants under the bridge but I didn't go in. They looked good though!
J. L.
A truly art gallery on its own with works of superb quality, a feast for the eye. A bit hidden offsite Waterloo station, it is very well worth a visit. It is also next to Lower Marsh, with a very good choice of small Cafes and places for a quick and healthy snack
J.
Shame we not allowed to go in there on our motorbikes. But nice place to visit to see local artists and even have a chat with some of them. Worth a few visits as the pictures change daily
C. R.
Incredible collection of street art. Spent an hour looking at the
U. K.
If you like street art, this is a definite place to visit. Every day the art changes and some of it is very impressive!
R. D. G.
This place is so cool. So many artists gather here to create their murals. The tunnel is very fascinating and it is a legal free place where you can express your creativity. Every time you go there you can find something new, as artists paint over murals all the time.
N. A.
Absolutely amazing there is some very talented people expressing there art here
i was amazed at there work 🙂. Its definitely worth a visit
A. G. P. (.
There are some cool graffiti there. Some cooler art on the walls too such as cartoon, comic, pokemon and such. If you are lucky you might catch an artist working which can easily take hours.
C. G.
Unique, I love this street, the smell of aerosol and the tags all over the place make it dinámica and always changing. This is the ultimate outdoors temporary museum
S. K.
Great place to check out some amazing spray art. The walls are repainted with new work every few weeks 👍
S. S.
Fascinating place! Some good work amongst the rubbish that some graffiti artists think is art 🙂
M. P.
ALWAYS a cool place to visit. Some amazing art delivered as graffiti. Something for every taste, come take a look and don't forget to look at the ceiling as well.
B. W.
Always my favourite and constantly changing and free art exhibition in London.
Enjoy it before they start charging you money for work the artists will never be paid for.
J. D.
Awesome street art that is always accessible and often changing and evolving. You may find a Banksy down here but there are plenty of other artists to check out
N. V.
Graffiti changing all the time. Every visit is a new experience. Highly recommended highly if you get what I mean.

M. R.
Place is excellent, went during the night with my camera had no problems amazing work in there
l. j.
This place is just magical, u Can feel the atmosphere, like from some gangster movie , all I was missing was some skaters and graffiti artists but I have no doubts they go there to spend their time. So many artworks it takes some time to check them all and I bet there still would be some hidden. There are also 2 places like restaurant and pub in those tombs. It's just very magical place just very close to the Waterloo station.
E. W.
Great stretch of tunnel with graffiti on the walls and ceiling, maybe 1/4 mile in length. Not sure I'd come there late at night but that's just me.
M. N.
Awesome place. So much street art to see. We even watched a few graffiti artists at work too which was interesting. Can see people having a few edgy, urban photoshoots here.
S. E.
I took my two grandchildren here for a photography trip, they were amazed at the variety of colours and shapes, we were able to see some artists at work too which was an added bonus.
G. P.
This is still a great place to visit although as there are always people there adding new works which will be on top of previous images it's constantly changing. Each visit will bring up a surprise sometimes you might like the new stuff and sometimes you may not but it keeps you interested finding out what's there. I have visited many times, I always take a look when I'm in the area.

Fantastic place. There are always people down there dancing, drawing more things with spray etc. I was amazed by the drawings really, they're are so much beautiful and I couldn't not take a photo😂😂 There is also a restaurant inside the tunnel which is Polish and if I'm not wrong the name is Mamuska and it's a Polish Kitchen and Bar Restaurant. Unfortunately it is close now but once the lockdown will finish I will surely try it!
The Graffiti Tunnel is a perfect place to take great photos too😍😍And it doesn't seem like it's in London but somewhere else out the city and I just love how people keep spraying on the walls always making the tunnel better😍😍😍🤩Definitely worth a visit!
C. L.

Interesting, if you into graffiti art. Best to visit after Monday, as usually there are piles of cans, fast food packaging, bottles and little gas cylinders after the weekend crowd's departure.
R. A. W.
Colorful work of arts, very impressive!
R. K.
As you can tell by its name, this is a tunnel filled with graffiti. But what may catch you by surprise is the absolute beauty of it all. Tucked away behind Waterloo Station, the tunnel serves as a hub for artistic expression.. Also the perfect spot for a few Instagram pics ;)

Fab, topical themes, big proper art work not just tags, impressive street art
K. A.
The graffiti tunnels are one of London's little secrets.
As a photographer I've used it a number of times to shoot models.
Every visit is a surprise as the art works are replaced regularly.
Pre-covid this place is lively with events at The Vaults and the restaurant at the other end.
It still attracts people to see the graffiti art and you're sure to be impressed by the quality of the work on display.
S.
Very interesting place. It's basically a public street or tunnel with a lot of graffiti. The tunnel goes underneath Waterloo station and it's probably c.500 metres. It feels safe to go and the police often frequents the street. There are some amazing bars and restaurants in there as well.
E. R.
Very unique graffiti tunnel. Bring your own spray cans and leave a mark, if you dare
M.
Great artwork in the form of graffiti, loads of picture opportunities here for photographers.

J. C.
Cool place...great artists.
K. B.
This place was a total surprise and is located near Waterloo station.
Do a Google maps to find the exact location and you may miss it.
A great collection of graffiti and messages in this tunnel. Lots of creativity and art - both whimsical and some with a message (and brexit for example).
There also appeared to be bars to enter. Didn't have the time this time but it may be worth checking out.
K. I.
Loved this part of London. Everyone should visit once.
V. G.
Awesome place with a quirky twist. Can be a bit cleaner. Nice bars and cafes.
L. W.
So cool and very talented artists
M. M.
Excellent tunnel lined on every wall and ceiling with some excellent pieces of street art by some very talented street artists.

Neat spot on the south bank! Saw someone tagging
J. J.
Wow, simply wow...if you have a love for this artwork, seek this place out...it's a feast for the eyes...and some great photo opportunities too..
J. J.
Amazing graffiti art, I found it fascinating. You don't know where to look first as it's all around you. Even the ceilings and railings have graffiti on them. We stumbled on this place by accident getting directions to go to the London Eye and I'm so glad we did. We'd been to Lower Marsh food market first which is another hidden gem and then walked through here and got some amazing pictures and we saw a few graffiti artists at work too.
A. D.
The place to be for hiphop recordings, alternative shoots or just for grafitti lovers.
A. M.
It is good here but you really have to time it well and be super carful. I was out for a random little drive late lastnight and took the boyfriend there for something todo and there was a gang down there... so a bit disappointed as we then never got out.
M. A.
Maybe it's just me but I don't get it. Not worth a trip down, save your time and visit queen's walk
A. O.
Fun place to visit, graffiti everywhere, you can them painting actually!!
J. C.
A bit hard to find, but very beautiful and always changing artwork!
G. l. e. P.
Awesome place, awesome art, legal art, no risk environment. Loved it.
M. H.
Best free art gallery in London
A. H.
Keep visiting this tunnel quite often to update my graffiti collection
A. M.
A surprising location that was not known to most of my British friends. In essence, it is simply a tunnel allowing pedestrians to pass under the very wide Waterloo Station.
Artists are constantly altering the walls as you relax and watch them with a drink in your hand, purchased at one of the clubs residing inside the tunnel itself.
There are also a few restaurants accessible directly from the tunnel as well, should you feel like grabbing a bite.
G. W.
Cool Place. As a photographer I love this kind of place. I'm in awe of the artwork and it's great to see creations happening in front of your eyes.
B.
Good graffiti art under one roof
A. B.
Great place for hangout and photography
R. S.
Lots of cool street art & graffiti
M. M.
You’ll not stay here more than 20 minutes
j. b.
Graffiti hot spot in constant flux with only the unmistakable aerosol paint hit a constant.
Most lasting less than an illusive memory of yesterday.
Though some linger a while whether by whim, wile or wonder.
So be here now and then be gone forever.
R. N.
Nice place to visit wen you nearby
J. Y.
An amazing set for a music video
The roadmen were friendly
B. G.
Exciting vibe. Lots of activity. Nice to see so many 'allowed' graffiti expressions of individuality. Some very talented artists. Definitely worth a visit.
k. c.
Came here by the bike tour, past twice as I got a London pass by somebody onto the ground. So amazing when saw the paints are 2 inches thick from decades of sprays and various type of graffiti can be seen.
l. c.
Found this place when we went to the Vietnamese place inside and was a a cool find. Literally had tons of different art painted on the walls.
Sure some was not great, but a lot of cool stuff on the walls and ceiling!
C. K.
Great space to admire the amazing creativity and artistry displayed.
E. P.
Loved it! Lots of interesting art works and great place for pictures opportunities
S.
We utilised the space for a photoshoot. Great backdrop. There are many people about as its central London but that's urban life. It is quiet there from time to time, if you're lucky. Striking graffiti, skateboarders doing their thing. Buzzing atmosphere.
D.
Grate spot if you like attention while you paint but it's also open dry and lit up all night. The trio being very rare in london
L. Q.
The best in London for Street Art.
P. H.
Went to the game shop there and played some board games. We all enjoyed the experience even though we had tears if my girls didn't win. Great place to go very atmospheric setting to enhance the experience.
L. E.
First time I've even noticed this little gem. The smell of spray and paint is a little irritating on the nose, however that is easily sorted with a scarf....the majority of the art under this bridge is simply breathtaking. also a great place for shooting indie films etc....
J. D.
London's Street Art Central
M. D.
A simple tunnel makes from art.
M. E. L.
Every day change, every day is different, nice place to visit if you love arts.
A. K.
There's some great art on the walls of this tunnel and often you see other artists still painting on the walls. Sometimes there are some events held in here which means you no longer have free passage.
J. C.
Pretty cool...artists allowed to roam free in the tunnel
e. s.
It was a mind blowing experience 😍🥰😍 I met many artist and share many nice ideas with them...best place for street artist in London🥰😁😉
A. L.
Great place, shame there is so much glass and other dirty nonsense on the floor.
S. D.
Went to the nelson Mandela exhibition here which was fantastic, the graffiti seemed to changed each day and you can watch artists showcase their craft most of the time.
C. B.
The graffiti changes almost every day, some are really good and some, not so good.
C.
A one-of-a-kind street. Not a graffiti fan but the sheer amount of it here is quite amazing. And best part of it? It actually gets you across to the other side to the London Eye (well depending which side you go from) ;)
L. S.
Nice to take pictures, try and come earlier in the day, as it can get quite crowded with graffiti artist. Good cafes, restaurants are bars too. Draughts- board game cafe is awesome
R. G.
Do come with a mask if you dont like the smell of paint.
K. K.
Very nice 👍🏼
F. R.
Nice graffitis. Everytime they are changing. There are some bar's/restaurants. Nice place to take really nice pictures.
C. H.
This is a really cool place. If you're after those Insta photos, this is where to go. There are also a few good restaurants off this tunnel. Highly recommend checking this out.
I. H.
Great! If you are near walk through it, very special.
P. O.
It was a PED takeover
Rotating street art, couple of bars/food joints, music video being filmed, people watching. Never a dull moment
A. S.
Great experience, very vibrant and live atmosphere
S. H.
Absolutely fantastic well worth a look
C. S.
The massive diversity of art feels dangerously alive because of the threat that it could be overwritten and lost to history at a moment's notice. Collectively, that flood of imagery creates a mind-blowingly crazy and hyperpowered visit.
J. V.
Beautiful art work and inspirational space
A. W.
Really amazing took a couple of photos for a college project. Usually pretty empty so its not faffy to try see anything and sometimes you catch some people spraypainting too (most likely to catch them on weekends!!)
C. C.
Lots to see in this tunnel. I don't know how often fresh art pops up, but I do know I want to check back in to find out! And there are a couple of restaurants and a club inside the tunnel, so you can combine it with an evening out!
N. R.
An interesting place to walk through for the overall effect of several hundred yards of graffittied tunnel, and to see painters at work.
Very few of the pieces are anything more than average at best, however the whole is better than the sum of the parts.
Combine with a trip to Lower Marsh Street market and or Scooter Caffe.
R. J.
Great place to take photos
L. “. G.
All day and all night... if its just a detour or your up to throw something up. Great place
J. F. 2.
Leake Street. Started by Team Banksy. Lovingly-ish cared for and updated. Vibes. WD

If you go every two to three weeks, everything reachable from the ground will be different. Great place to come watch the artists and chill.
M. C. (.
Fantastic art on display.
M. “. T.
This legal graffiti tunnel is a must-visit if you're in the Waterloo area. A far cry from the 'tagging' you're likely used to, this is a constantly revolving and interwoven tapestry of murals. If you can stomach the pungent aerosol smell, take a wander through; and take some pictures, because what you see won't be there for long.
D. S.
One of the few legal graffiti areas in London, beneath Waterloo Station, originally called ‘’Banksy’s Tunnel”. Came about, I believe, when the EuroStar moved from Waterloo to St Pancras.
Amazing artwork changes weekly, if not daily. Great place for photography as it offers shelter from London rain and an amazing backdrop - and I’ve never felt at risk, even holding an expensive camera.
One of London’s more unusual tourist attractions and a photographer’s dream.
PS. Leave Waterloo at the Platform 1 exit, turn right and go down the steps... !
P. D.
My 10 and 12 year old loved it!
K. S.
Worth checking out if you're passing by.
R. M.
Uber cool location for events and photo shoots.

A. G.
Tunnel space beneath the Waterloo station tracks, jammed with street art and also hosting the Vaults theatre. A visual feat with something new always in progress.
A. H.
Did a photoshoot down here. What an amazing place. Feels like some sort of film set in 1970s New York. The feel is intimidating as you enter, but nothing to worry about. Have a wander.
J. C.
