What an amazing retreat in the wilds of Wales - Garth Barn :). The venue was full of character & the food delicious. I loved Lila's yoga sessions and there was also plenty of time to explore and relax. Loved the group - we were like a little family. Thanks Yoga on a Shoestring!! Highly recommended.

I’ve just returned from the most magical retreat at Blythe Rise with Sunita Devi organised by YOAS and it was just heavenly. Surrounded by nature, incredible flows, lovely people and fabulous igluhut saunas! Who could ask for more. There’s nothing shoestring like about it! Pure bliss! Thank you!

Lovely NYE retreat in Norfolk. Thank you all - the retreat was well thought out, the people lovely, the venue luxurious with a gorgeous lake to swim in. We danced our way into the year new on a high. I shall recommend YOAS and have my eye on more retreats in 2022! Thank you Wendy and team at YOAS for a wonderful time.

I had the great fortune to go on a Yoga on a Shoestring holiday to Sri Devi in Sri Linka with Lisa Powell. What an amazing holiday ! The place is truly beautiful, immersed in nature, the yoga platform looks out onto water buffalo, rice fields and palm trees. Woken up in the morning by sounds of wild peacocks and monkeys. Such bliss. The rooms are stunning and the food is really authentic and delicious, we tasted all the dishes of Sri Lanka. We enjoyed many trips out to the local beaches, tea plantations, cinnamon island and whale watching! What an adventure. And Lisa is a really great teacher. A wonderful balance of asana with pranayama, meditation and spirituality. The best antidote ever to 2 years of covid. I would 100% recommend this holiday.

fantastic location
Fantastic yoga teachers
Fantastic company
Personally I felt that there was too many people booked on this retreat even in non covid times it was a struggle to move around the dining room. Also the classes were crammed at times
the food was ok and there was alot of people complaining of being hungry.
No pre yoga snack or fruit bowl available which could have helped.

An absolutely wonderful restorative experience. Lila's teaching was beautiful, inspiring and perceptive to the needs of the group. There was a lovely sense of togetherness and shared practice. The location, accommodation and food was incredible. Thanks to Jane and Tina for their super hosting :)

Just got back from a retreat with YOAS to rural Wales I've been on many with them, there are 3 elements that make a perfect retreat 1) location 2) wonderful teacher Lila Conway 3) hostess Jane and Tina, all 3 elements made for a memorable yoga retreat

I have been on two incredible YOAS retreats so far and will go on many more. Everything is taken care of and you are spoiled from the second you book your place. Yoga programmes are perfectly planned, locations are luxurious and I am truly grateful for such amazing opportunities to meet lovely people. My yoga practice evolves with each session and I leave with my mind and body refreshed. I cannot thank Wendy and team enough for such lovely trips and Will Wheeler for incredible yoga sessions!
Sri Devi, Sri Lanka: My time at Sri Devi, Sri Lanka fully revitalised both my mind and body. Will is an incredible instructor and one of the kindest people I have ever met. His teaching is the perfect balance of movement, restoration and breath work that flawlessly embeds philosophical and spiritual perspectives that intuitively connected with, nourished and evolved my mindset. Will's energy and enthusiasm is infectious and his compassion for the group was reflected in his class design. He knew exactly what we needed each day and my practice evolved in a very short period of time. Will has a wealth of experience that he embeds in his classes. Will exceeded my expectations of an instructor through workshops and insightful conversations around my personal practice. The retreat offered an exploration of the beauty Sri Lanka has to offer that was kindly arranged by Ulrike and her incredible team at Sri Devi. Massage treatments were uplifting and the Sri Devi wildlife added to the serenity created within Will's sessions. Everything was perfectly organised by Wendy and her team at YOAS. We were truly spoiled from the second we arrived and Sri Devi was a difficult place to leave. I could not have asked for or expected any more from a retreat. I feel very lucky to have had this incredible experience in such a beautiful place with such a brilliant instructor.
Norfolk, UK: The retreat was incredible! Mona and Will’s knowledge and commitment was outstanding and the experience included the perfect combination of meditation and yoga which nourished my mind and my body. It was an amazing and calming way to begin the new year! The retreat was so well organised with so many lovely finishing touches from Wendy and her family that made it extra special. The food was delicious and the kitchen team were kind and accommodating! Everyone was really friendly and it made my first solo yoga retreat a lovely experience!

My partner and I have just come back from a retreat that was held @ The Quaives. It was a much needed respite for me and the balance between the yoga sessions and free time worked well. Sunita the teacher was fantastic, very eclectic in her approach and clearly has a good understanding & knowledge of yoga that she communicates in a way that helps the individual maximise the wellbeing benefits. Finally, the food was simply gorgeous - best food that I have been served at a retreat, tasty, great flavour combinations and the level you would find in gourmet/Michelin starred restaurants!

I did a yoga retreat in Puglia, Italy with YOAS. It was surprisingly affordable, and I say surprising because of everything that came with the trip. Our accommodation at Massaria Della Zingara was incredible, a huge restored farm house with spacious, clean rooms and loads of history. Also a pool to relax by! Jan, our host was so warm, friendly and open to talk at any time. She also knows her yoga! The home cooked food was out of this world (proper Italian) and we had some cheeky organic wines too - also amazing. The yoga teaching was invitational, accessible and catered to all stages of practice. The best mix of relaxing and healing.

I had a wonderful time on my first YOAS retreat in Kefalonia, Greece. Very relaxing and it was lovely to look out onto the Ionian sea very morning and evening whilst doing yoga on the open platform. Jess Horn our teacher was great and really in tune with the group's needs and abilities. Will book again!

The retreat was simply wonderful, Jodi the yoga teacher's wisdoms shared the retreat centre, Itha 108 is truly a beautiful place to be. I felt so nourished from the yoga practice, the nature, and wonderful food. The walks to the sea so perfect. Will definitely go again. Very well organized too in booking the retreat from start to finish.

I had an incredible trip to the Masseria in Puglia with Ceri Lee. The villa is very beautiful (the photos don't do it justice!) Our hosts Jan, Piero, Maria (and Sofia the dog!) were wonderful - warm and welcoming and made us feel part of the Masseria family for the week. Maria's fresh Italian food was amazing and we were also treated to wine from the local vineyards. I loved the yoga with Ceri - she tailored the practices to the groups needs and I came away feeling grounded and revived. Would highly recommend both the Masseria and Yoga on a Shoestring to others. Wendy was incredibly helpful when booking the trip and it was great value for money. Don't hesitate to book!

I went to Kefalonia for a week's retreat with teacher Jaya Jacks.
Jaya is a fabulous teacher. I have attended her retreats before and her standard is as high as ever. She's is kind, inclusive and precise. She shares her love of yoga with a quiet enthusiasm which is infectious and transforming.
Vigla Village where the retreat was held is beautiful. It is peaceful with access to pretty beaches and restaurants to enjoy in your yoga free time.
Can we have 10 days next time please?

I have been participating in weekends and holidays with YOAS for over 15 years and am never disappointed. Just returned from the New Year break at "42 Acres" in Somerset...very nice accommodation, great veggie food and as always , excellent yoga classes with Dory and Kate. YOAS always attracts a varied group of interesting people of all ages. Over the years I have tried other companies but YOAS is the best by far. Everything is well organised and lots of information given in advance.Highly recommended!

I had a really beautiful weekend at the Quaives near Canterbury with Sunita. The location is amazing, the yoga was just what I needed and the food was delicious. I left feeling revitalised and uplifted. Look forward to another YOAS trip soon!

My third Moroccan holiday with Yoga On A Shoestring (with the fourth already booked for December 2019): we had three days in the Atlas Mountains at the Kasbah du Toubkal, and four days down on the plain at Maison du Tigmi. Both locations are wonderful (you need to be a good walker to enjoy the Kasbah because arrival includes a quite long and steep walk uphill), the accomodation verging on the luxurious, with welcoming staff and great food. While at the Kasbah we also had the option of two pleasantly strenuous guided walks in the mountains; definitely worth the effort!
I really enjoyed our teacher, Lisa Powell's practice, themed around the five koshas. Her teaching was very adaptive to the energy and skill levels of the group, and she guided us with much patience. Lisa is also very good company and helped all of us to feel part of a friendly and inclusive group.
All trips I have done with YOAS have been very good value, well organised, and thoroughly enjoyable. Do try it!

Went to the Rural Wales Yoga retreat with Ash in August, and I had a wonderful time. Everything was very well organised, the food was amazing, and the rural location was great! I will definitely go to more retreats with them!

I went to the YOAS Retreat at Suryalila, Andalucia, Spain. Will Wheeler was the teacher and he was fantastic, great teacher, lots of workshops in addition to the morning and evening yoga classes. The vegetarian food was varied and good (breakfast was my personal favourite). The Suryalila Resort was really chilled out, and everyone was super friendly.

I have been on two retreats ran by YOAS now and they are brilliant - the right balance of scheduling, and free time, they are very helpful to deal with on the rare occasion I don't have the info I need. The teachers have been brilliant, and the style of yoga is very inclusive.

Just returned from an absolutely incredible retreat at Pauntley Court with Amelia. Gorgeous location, the food was insanely good and Amelia went over and above with such diverse and nourishing yoga practices, meditation and fire gazing!

This was my second visit to Tigmi with YOAS and the lovely Raquel Alves and it didn't disappoint. Tigmi is such a special place, peaceful, great views, a walk towards the Atlas mountains in one direction and the village forest and fruit orchards in the other. It is so wonderful, you simply don't want to leave and so this time, as i also did last year, I stayed at the hotel and didn't venture in to busy Marrakech.
Raquel is not only a fantastic yoga teacher, she is also a wonderful human being and host. She cares for her students and tailors lessons to all needs and capabilities as well as the style of each session. She is also a great laugh and host in the evenings and at various meal times.
I encourage anyone to enjoy this amazing experience of yoga, camaraderie, great food, a wonderful peaceful setting, winter sunshine and much more - Tigmi & Raquel = Ommmm

My friends and I had a wonderful time in Kefalonia with Dory (and her lovely family!).
The organisation of the holiday/retreat was excellent in every way. Wendy replied to queries however small, immediately.
The venue was utterly beautiful: a little piece of paradise. Although there were 20 of us yogis, we each found our own space of peace and tranquility. The venue never felt crowded.
The accommodation (apartment number 4) was perfect (lovely views of the sea) and of a very high standard and we were allowed to stay in it until we departed for the airport.
Anna our host was very efficient and went the extra mile, helping us arrange tours and transport on our yoga free day, and taking shopping orders for the local village supermarket in Spartia.
Breakfast buffet was fresh and varied. We were invited to take whatever was left for lunch, which was very generous!
Dory is an excellent teacher. Her style was inclusive even for us older yogis. She was inspiring, calm, patient and thorough. Her attention to detail has broadened and depended our yoga practice of which mine had become rather comfortable.
I am looking forward to joining another yoga retreat/holiday in 2020.

The retreat was amazing. Tigmi itself was bliss- real luxury and the staff were very attentive and sweet. The yoga was varied and very meticulously planned- you could really tell a lot of care and attention went into delivering high quality classes. Raquel is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced and keen to discuss and have a healthy debate over yoga philosophy among other things! I really enjoyed spending time with her and everyone else on the course. Also the food and spa are also both incredible!
Just make sure you know what's included and isn't as there were a few people disgruntled (me included!) that eggs at breakfast cost extra.

Had a great time in Kent with Amy McDonald @the Quaives a peaceful farm in the lovely town of Seaton. Amy is a great teacher with just the right amount of challenge plus some yogic philosophy to stimulate the mind as well as the body and soul. Great weekend retreat and the food was also wonderful.

Fantastic bank holiday weekend retreat @Garth Barns with Ash. Fun and accessible yoga with my husband (beginner) and a great crowd of all ages and experience. Beautiful location and really good food well organised by experienced and welcoming hosts Jane and Rowan.

The recent retreat at Cocoon in Portugal with Jess Horn was wonderful. Not only was the physical practice enjoyable and fulfilling, but I learned a lot too about the spiritual aspects of yoga. The location was stunning and offered plenty of space for relaxation. It was an honour to spend a week with a group of delightful people and to explore the area. I would highly recommend both Jess and the location. The week was over too quickly!

I had a fantastic time. Kate is an amazing teacher, the others on the course were lovely and the setting was perfect!

Thoroughly recommend this wonderful retreat on the beautiful island of Ithaca, led by Jodi Boone. The venue is beautiful; wonderful set up and food, all just a few minute walk from a lovely beach. But what makes the experience is Jodi. She is a very natural and empathetic teacher and I enjoyed all of her classes, particularly the morning meditation and evening restoratives. Her calming voice and thoughtful readings were both nurturing and thought provoking.

My favourite yoga retreat so far! Just back from a weekend at Eden Rise in Totnes. A lovely group and fabulous teacher. The weekend was well set up for a good balance of classes, workshops, rest and scrumptious meals. Our teacher Lila Conway was a blessing, very grounding and nurturing. Thank you! I will be booking up for more retreats with you!

My friend and I have just returned from Yewfield and are refreshed and relaxed after a wonderful 3 days with Ceri. The yoga practice was excellent and catered for all our needs. The social distancing measures were very well thought out. The only problem was that we couldn't socialise in the usual way and eat together but we overcame it with wonderful walks, delicious food and stunning scenery. I would recommend this retreat in a time when we need to work together to value our wonderful nature , our surroundings and to take stock of what is truly important in life, then this is the ideal retreat. Thank you to Ceri and the great staff at Yewfield for making it a wonderful stay.

My holiday with Yoga on a Shoestring was absolutely brilliant and just what I needed. I can’t imagine it being any better - comfortable rooms in a beautiful location (Tigmi, Morocco) and wonderful food. Karen was a fantastic yoga teacher, and the yoga was the right mix of yin/yang, nurturing/challenging, relaxing/strengthening, fun/meditative. Karen really held the retreat even when not teaching - she was fun and warm and responsive to people’s needs. I feel totally set up for the Winter ahead now!

Had the most amazing week at Suryalila in Spain with Jaya, venue was stunning, Yoga was even better and the group were so lovely. I was slightly worried at the outset about going vegetarian and diary free for a week but the food was delicious with such variety and every meal was something to look forward to. This was my first Yoga experience travelling on my own and it won't be my last, already keen to go again. YOAS arranged everything from accommodation to transfers and made the whole experience so much fun. Thank you Wendy and Jaya for such a wonderful week, Emma x

This was my second retreat with YOAS at Garth Barns. When I arrived I had a lovely warm return welcome from Rowan and Sarah. Rowan is so helpful, and nothing is too much trouble to make your stay enjoyable.
Sarah’s food, of course, is absolutely delicious – and every meal was a delight. I definitely ate too much, but that is testament to the quality of every dish.
This is my second retreat with Ash – and she is just a perfect teacher. I regularly do Pilates, so found that this time I was fit enough to push myself further with the yoga poses, which was great. I participated in one of the optional workshops, and was absolutely thrilled to do a handstand, under Ash’s gentle guidance and encouragement. I also attended the morning meditation sessions this time, which really are wonderfully relaxing.
Garth Barns is a very comfortable place to stay in an idyllic setting. I did some lovely walks around the grounds, though I have yet to brave the cool waters of the wild swimming pond. Maybe next time! Thanks everyone for a wonderful time. I can't reccommend you highly enough and will definitely return.

What an amazing trip.
I loved Kefalonia, Spartia and the Yoga retreat at Vigla Village, ooh and the fab Taverna just across the road, and Kefalonia has the best olives.
I am a recent convert to Yoga and the tutor Lisa was absolutely excellent. She had a wonderful teaching voice, is such an inspirational practitioner and makes the classes varied and interesting whilst developing the themes in a different way each day.
Anna maintains the peace and tranquility at Vigla village, provides delicious breakfasts and Greek hospitality. The sea was warm and the path to the beach was not difficult.
I would be very happy to do another visit here to train with Lisa and enjoy the island. Flights are easy and the transfers ( only 10-15 mins) worked well. Enjoyed every bit of it!!

Amazing trip over New Year to Tigmi in Marrakesh. The hotel is beautiful, rustic and charming with stunning views over the Atlas Mountains. The food was fantastic and we were incredibly well looked after by the team. Raquel, our yoga instructor, is very experienced and knowledgeable, so the yoga classes were a highlight.

Had an absolutely fantastic time with Jess in Portugal for a week-long retreat. Her teaching style is great for all levels & ages and she really tailored the practice to the group. I loved that she had an overarching theme for the week and each yoga practice was different. I would sign up for another retreat with Jess in a minute!

I can honestly say that I had the most wonderful time on the Kefalonia Yoga holiday 7-14th July. It far exceeded my expectations. I had never done a yoga holiday before and was a complete beginner but I had nothing to worry about - the people were so lovely and friendly, it was like we had known each other for years. Rory was a fantastic, attentive teacher - as a beginner, I felt I could go as far as my own limits, without forcing things and felt myself progressing at my own pace day by day. The structure of the day is perfect with energising, awakening practice in the morning, then a lovely brunch with the group before free time - I headed to the gorgeous pretty much private beach and swam and floating in the turquoise blue ocean to my heart's content. We generally went as a small group to the beach, but there was no pressure to be with the group if you wanted some 'me' time - I thoroughly recommend the hammocks at the top of the cliff overlooking the beach and sea. The yoga practice in the evening is more restorative and relaxing - I had no idea I could feel so calm, grounded and relaxed. In the evening, we would go to the lovely local small Greek Tavernas where the food was traditional, yummy and not too expensive. I have returned from this holiday feeling rejuvenated, restored and calm and yoga will definitely become a regular part of my life. I would absolutely recommend this holiday to people seeking a proper holiday where you actually come back and really feel like you have had a holiday. The accommodation was simple but lovely and Anna the owner is so lovely, welcoming and helpful, there is nothing you need to worry about, just relax and enjoy!

This is the perfect yoga retreat, you find yourself in the most beautiful surroundings with the yoga platform overlooking the sea and a 5 minute stroll down to a secluded beach. Federica's teaching is superb, she is a very knowledgeable and intuitive teacher who also makes hard work fun. You start the day with a wonderful meditation surrounded by the sound of the ocean and the birds. Anna and Angelo make sure all your needs are meet, they are the most welcoming hosts.

I have just returned from an amazing retreat in Almeria. From the moment we landed in Spain we were looked after perfectly, we were collected from the airport and driven to a small corner of paradise.
Our teacher Liz Warrington was wonderful, her passionate, inspirational and enthusiastic manner was exceptional. Thank you Liz, the yoga sessions were a delight, the effect on my mind and body was profound.
The Finca was stunning, and the hospitality incredible - thank you Tina. The food was absolutely superb, my thanks to Jess and the team. If you are looking for an extra special retreat, I cannot recommend Almeria highly enough - I will return.

My first ever yoga retreat was a great success in every respect.
Ceri was professional , knowledgable friendly and fun. The classes were varied and she accommodated different levels of ability well.
Resort was perfect, v quiet , clean simple accommodation well run by Anna.
Would have no hesitation recommending this .

I've just returned from a week of yoga with Raquel in Kefalonia. The Island is beautiful and being able to practice yoga whilst looking out across the cliffs to the sea was stunning. Raquel is an amazing teacher, great fun to be with and ensured we were all looked after throughout the week.
If you're thinking of going on your own and are unsure, do it! I decided to travel solo and found everyone to be lovely. You will make news friends and also have space if you want or need some alone time.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday, I will definitely book again.

I can't recommend Dory and Rory enough! They are a wonderful couple who embrace you with such welcoming arms - however much yoga you may have done previously. I spent three days with them at their New Years retreat held at 42 Acres, Somerset, where I managed to get my head around a transition in my life and leave feeling totally rejuvenated and inspired.
Rory has a brilliant way of moving your body with eloquent explanations, which is perfectly balanced with Dory's deep meditation techniques. Their many years of teaching and developing gives you a more whole and well-rounded experience. We even got an optional workshop on 'Energies' which was exciting and gave us a whole new way of looking and feeling things.
I have been left feeling really aware of my mind, alert in my body and sensing my own and other energies around me. I look forward to finding them in Bristol soon to practise with them again.

Exceptional in every way!
That is how I would sum up my experience of my recent week in Vigla Village, Kefalonia. From the moment of booking with Wendy from Yoga On A Shoestring to being taken back by taxi to the airport, the holiday was faultless.
Upon arrival at the airport, we were driven by a delightful taxi driver, with excellent English, to our accommodation for the week. He happily chatted with pride about his beautiful island. Once there, our host, Anna, greeted us warmly and personally showed us to our basic but entirely sufficient and superbly located, sea view homes for the week – a bottle of wine to greet us – what more could anyone ask? The beautiful pool offered some shade and some sun throughout the day, not to mention a stunning view of the bay. There are beautiful beaches either side of the resort to explore too.
I was lucky enough to be travelling with three very close friends but even if I had been on my own, my enjoyment of this holiday would have been immense. I can honestly say that I have never been enveloped by such a lovely, warm-hearted and supporting bunch of people in my life!
Our teacher, Nancy, was simply outstanding. I have dipped in and out of yoga over many years but in my opinion, she was the best. This was not just my view either, even dedicated yoga followers thought very highly of her indeed.
Anna and her assistant, also Anna, were always available, smiling, helpful and generous in every way. Being at the end of the season, many restaurants were closed but Anna kindly invited us to help ourselves to the remains of breakfast to sustain us throughout the rest of the day until dinner time. After a sundowner in the beautifully appointed hut overlooking the bay, we wandered down the drive to the nearest restaurant, Isalos. Once again, our group received the warmest of welcomes and a great variety of delicious dishes to choose from.
To top it all, several of us elected to have a massage under the trees, executed by the very experienced Christina - on the clifftop, with the breeze gently brushing one’s body – divine.
Which resort to book next year????

I had a wonderful holiday in Kefalonia. It was my first yoga holiday and I will definitely be going on another one. Ceri Lee was a brilliant teacher; the yoga sessions were planned but flexible enough in content and style to account for our differing levels of yoga practice. The yoga was challenging (in a good way!) but also made me feel restored. Ceri provided excellent instruction, but also observed the group closely so that she could offer further tips or alternatives. The yoga platform overlooks the sea and is surrounded by fragrant eucalyptus and pine trees - it's a special, beautiful place! Vigla Village is a lovely place - the owner Anna was very helpful and provided a warm welcome.

Thank you so much for a truly amazing holiday in Kefalonia. This was my first yoga holiday and it exceeded all my expectations. The resort of Vigla is one of the most beautiful and relaxed places I have ever been to. Ceri is a wonderful teacher who truly cares about the wellbeing of her pupils. She accommodated all levels of ability in a friendly and fun atmosphere and inspired us all. She catered for both our physical and spiritually needs during the lessons and I returned home feeling refreshed and restored. I have already booked my next yoga holiday with Ceri and cannot wait to go!

The Yoga week at In Sabina in Lazio.... was just fabulous. Not only was the teaching was excellent, I also found the support team at In Sabina were extremely helpful making sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay. I had the best vegan food here. Really came away so happy from this week. Highly recommend In Sabina and YOAS.

A great experience, supportive, informative, calm, engaging, fun, learning and confidence building. Fabulous venue and amazing yoga teacher in Amelia.

wendy from yoga on a shoe string has the patience of a saint. she suffered all my awkward questions and neurotic requests with the loveliest and most patient of responses.
my partner and i really wanted some down time and a disconnect and felt finca argyall in gomera would fit the bill. i was concerned regarding the review of the place on trip advisor and having spoken to wendy she assured the place was great and boy was she not wrong
finca was amazing, a real paradise that feels isolated but is close enough to still be in touch. its a really friendly 20-30 guest resort so to speak that is all about sustainable vegetarian/vegan eating and produces alot of organic produce that we eat and all those that work there live there and taken pride in the place. there is also a gorgoeous dog stella to play with
wendy helped arrange us into groups for transfers which went really smoothly.
kate our yoga instructor was a real treat. a real inspiration of a person, really personable and just a joy to be around for the week. her yoga was for all abilities and she really made an effort to get to know everyone in the group. i plan to go back next year and can not recommend this gem of a company enough. we will definately be booking multiple holidays with them again. part of me wishes not to leave such a good review as i want to keep this wonderful secret gem all to myself, but credit must be given where it is due.

I've just returned from an amazing 8 days in Goa, staying at The Banyan Tree. The most amazing eco venue where we stayed in huts built from mud and poo - the entire resort is rebuilt every year after monsoon! The attention to detail is incredible. I slept so amazingly well every night, falling asleep to the sounds of crickets and birds and jungly sounds. The eco shower and toilet were fun too! But what makes The Banyan Tree are it's owners - Annu and Chinnu - who cannot do enough to ensure your stay is as comfortable and happy as it can be. They are off the scale when it comes to customer service, and the vegetarian food they create every morning and evening (well needed after yoga!)... well just thinking about it makes my tummy rumble. Gorgeous colours, flavours and variety!! Amelia, our YOAS teacher, delivered our twice daily yoga classes in the beautiful sharla. The hatha based classes varied every day and were pitched to appeal to all levels of experience and energy levels (it was very hot!). As a person who is fairly new to yoga, I was stretched and learned so much about yoga theory and perfecting asana's and vinyasa. I loved the chanting! Our group of 20 women, aged from 27 to 67, were a great mix. I really enjoyed seeing the more experienced yogi's nailing the more advanced moves. It was a joyous 8 days and I'm so very happy I decided to go along. I'll be making YOAS an annual event.

This was my third New Year in a row in Morocco with Raquel Alves through YOAS, so you can probably guess how highly I rate both the location and the instructor, as well as the company. Tigmi is a perfect place for a retreat, as it combines luxury with relaxation in a peaceful setting, while a free daily minibus can take you to the bustle and colour of Marrakech in about 20 minutes. The Shala (used for winter practice) is beautiful, with a fireplace and a glass roof. We also used the outside summer terrace, which is just stunning. Rooms are quirky, charming and cosy. The Chef provides delicious food that covers all requirements (vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and omnivore). As for the teacher: Raquel combines a charming bluntness with absolute kindness, and I doubt it would be possible to work harder to include 'yogis' at so many different levels of experience and ability than she does. Each day's practice was different and progressive over the week. Highly recommended.

I've been on several UK and European yoga retreats run by Yoga on a Shoestring and can thoroughly recommend them. The yoga tutors are very professional and bring out the best in those attending, the venues vary in their accommodation and catering, but are generally excellent and I come back refreshed and calm.

I spent an amazing and beautiful week at Suryalila. We celebrated the New Year's Eve practicing yoga, we danced flamenco, and visited the lovely surrounding of the place. Moreover I met many interesting and dedicated yogis and yoginis in an amazing location in the middle of the Andalusia's countryside. Together with our teacher Lisa I learnt how to practice yoga with more kindness and passion improving self-compassion and self-awareness. I will certainly recommend this place for those who are looking for a peaceful and really cosy place.

Amazing location, The most amazing teacher Frederica Clemente. Frederica gave so much, She really is a very special teacher.
Loved every minute of this retreat. I can't recommend it highly enough.
I will defiantly be booking a retreat through YOAS again. This is the second one we have done, Me, my sister & my mum. Its the perfect holiday.

A wonderful week in Morocco with Raquel . A spiritual calming time in the atmospheric Atlas Mountains , watching the weather. Then a luxurious and beautiful hotel near Marrakesh. The Yoga and Relaxation was brilliant. Raquel is an amazing teacher and full of encouragement both spiritually and mentally , let alone helping us with our Yoga poses. I feel I have learnt so much !

I so enjoyed my holiday at Quinta Mimosa. The centre was simple and beautiful and the food was really wonderful and the staff very special. Raquel Alves was a devoted and deeply experienced teacher. She is truly able to support beginners while allowing more experience students to voyage further. She introduced many different aspects of yoga, including breath, chanting, meditation and mudras, which was so interesting. She also held the group beautifully and supported us with information and trips to the local market and beach, as she speaks Portuguese and know the area this was a real bonus. It is clear that the venue is 20 mins from the beach, and we had cars in the group for afternoon swims. Maybe a shuttle bus would make it easier in the future.

I had a truly wonderful and restorative time at the Almeria retreat. The food was the best Yoga retreat food I've ever had - fantastic, vitamin rich buffets, 3 times a day!
The yoga was wonderful, I have been following Lara round the world for 4 years now, her approach is unique - she manages to enable even the stiffest and rustiest of us to reach new levels of self love and physical eqilibrium.
The location was very special, fed by the waters of a private spring, meaning we swam and drunk and washed in Evian-grade water. The local town of Nijar is sleepy and picturesque and the 20 minute walk to it, through the splendour of the Sierra Nevada mountains, was a highlight of the trip.
Thanks so much to Yogaonashoestring for another amazing trip and thanks to all who work at the finca.
Best wishes,
Gabriella

A great big thank you to Lara for such an inspiring week of retreating into yoga bliss. Lara is a very special person; natural, open, passionate, warm, committed and self-aware – and a totally awesome teacher. Within each class I felt her attention, care and support – and my mind and body responded by feeling stronger and more empowered. I cannot recommend her more highly and I very much look forward to my next retreat with her, already booked and on my horizon!

What an amazing Italian yoga holiday! Thank you YOAS for providing an expertly crafted week of yoga, relaxation, beautiful vegetarian meals made by local chefs and lovely excursions into local towns. The perfect balance !!
The yoga classes were thoughtfully taught by one of my favourite teachers, Tania Brown, and were filled with the perfect blend of challenging poses, breathwork, deep exploration, laughter and a drop of spiritual essence to top it off.
The women who attended the retreat had a wide range of diverse backgrounds and brought a great energy to the group, but the icing on the cake was the owner, Jan, and her beautiful, loving energy and spirit — who treated everyone as family and made everyone feel special and well-cared for!
I cant wait to attend next year! It was an amazing week of sisterhood, laughter, learning and open-hearted fun! THANK YOU Wendy!

I had a wonderful week at Tigmi in Morocco with Raquel. Raquel is a hugely kind and knowledgeable teacher (and a lot of fun to be around) and I loved how she had made each class so different. Tigmi is a special place to see in the new year and I felt lucky to be part of such a lovely group. It was a truly rejuvenating retreat with lots of meditation and restful practice (as well as the more energetic morning classes) and it left me feeling ready to face the year ahead.

Just back from a wonderful week with YOASS at Viglia Village in Kefalonia and not sure where to start except to say that this is the first yoga break I've ever had or organised holiday on my own - and I'm a convert and will be back!
I loved the location - beautiful, simple, homely and really well run and organised by Anna who has a wonderful personal touch. The yoga platform over the sea was magical and is now my screen saver and personal mental retreat.
Dory was utterly professional as well as friendly and helpful. I felt I was in very safe and competent hands always. I also really appreciated how she took the time to arrange evening outings to local restaurants to give us all a chance to bond over delicious meals.
If I had to make any constructive criticism it would be the size of the group - at 20 people it felt quite large at times and also that I am not sure how a true complete beginner would have fared as the level was I felt more aimed at people who had already some yoga and the use of the Sanskrit terms for some of the positions baffled me on occasion. I had about 4 months yoga experience and am a middle aged woman - I struggled with certain positions but I believe that to be part of the process and overall found it to be a truely wonderful learning experience and am determined to carry on. I was impressed with YOASS from the start with early email correspondence and will definitely be back. I think it offers real value for money and attention to detail. There is a real sense of ethos that shines through and that I thoroughly appreciated. And last but not least I met a wonderful group of people! I loved the yoga and the laughs - one of the best holidays I have ever had. Thank you. I am now contemplating your Goan yoga break next year.

A beautiful hotel in a Berber village with real fires in the bedrooms and huge rooms. The yoga wasn't bad either! Had a very relaxed time on this yoga holiday and especially loved the evening classes, the massages in the Hammam, and the gorgeous pool area with the most stunning, healthy lunches. A bit far from Marrkech for me and would have preferred to eat dinner earlier, or at least had a choice. But a lovely venue if all you want is yoga and a rest from the world (wifi was terrible!) .

Fantastic retreat. Venue (Banyan Tree in Goa) was sensational and teacher (Jess) was inspiring and brilliant. I was also very pleasantly surprised by what a wonderful crew of people the retreat attracted. I knew no-one at the beginning and yet one week later there were 16 people all of whom I was more than happy to hang out with. Total five star experience and I will book with YOS again with great confidence!

I had a lovely weekend at Poundon House which was a really peaceful venue for the retreat. Our teacher, Raquel, has a terrific depth of knowledge and wisdom and a very playful sense of humour! The food, all prepared by the serene Nemia, was delicious. All in all a great success.

5 stars to my new year yoga retreat with Yoga on a Shoestring in 42 Acres. It's been very fulfilling, relaxing and impeccable. What more to say...top class yoga instructors, food and accommodation, yoga sessions in the yurt, meditations and very knowledgeable masseur. I would recommend anyone who is wanting to do something different to cross a new year!

Had such an amazing trip in beautiful Vigla Village, in Kefalonia. The place was set up for this kind of retreat so it ran seamlessly. There was a class in the morning, we had breakfast together then the whole day to ourselves before the evening class. We chose to spend dinner with the new friends we made on the retreat but you could also choose to have your own space if you wanted to. A lovely, relaxing holiday, and have come back completely refreshed! A

Had a very restorative week in Spain with Lara Stapleton and was introduced to the Scaravelli inspired yoga which I loved. Lara was an excellent teacher who put her whole sole into teaching. We certainly had plenty of yoga. The venue in Nija Spain was very relaxing with two pools, excellent food and we were well looked after by Jane. It was good to have a hired car to get about to visit the beautiful beaches.

I had a wonderful week in Sabina Italy with the lovely Jaya Jacks, there was only 6 of us and we all got on very well. The house, gardens, food and staff were all wonderful. Jaya adds a dimension to the group which is very welcoming and inclusive with amazing Yoga, encouragment and warmth, we all shared some great stories and had great laughs. I am looking foreword to the retreat in the Lakes in October and meeting up with someof the group from our week in Sabine. I would highly recommend the Sabina Retreat.

This was my second yoga holiday @ Villa Vigla & I have thoroughly enjoyed both weeks. The venue is absolutely beautiful with simple, spotlessly clean accommodation, perched on a cliff top overlooking the turquoise Ionian Sea. Both teachers (Ceri Lee & Dory Walker) have been expert, kind, helpful & keen to pass on their deep love of yoga. Anna & Angelo (who own Villa Vigla) cannot do enough for you & the breakfasts are AMAZING! I will definitely be going again next year!
E. S.
A fabulous week of yoga in Kefalonia! Wonderful location and hospitality which far exceeded my expectations. Great breakfast as well. Federica was a fantastic instructor who went above and beyond. I will definitely return!!
L. H.
Fantastic retreat in Goa, my second at the Banyan Tree. Lara is a super inspiring teacher, unlike any other I've met. Thanks too to the venue for great food, warm hospitality, friendly staff
C.
This was my second time at Vigla with Yoga on a Shoestring. I can't recommend it enough. Belle, the yoga teacher, offered such a varied and comprehensive week of yoga sessions with great knowledge, skill and warmth; Anna and Angelou who run the place are really friendly - nothing is too much trouble; and the place itself is stunning, peaceful and a stone's throw from a great restaurant.
S. C.
I just went on a yoga retreat in Somerset. It was totally brilliant in every way - the yoga teaching, the food, the location, the accommodation, the organisation - all excellent. Would recommend to anyone as a fantastic way to spend a weekend.
D. H.
Great experience from start to finish. Extremely well organised, everything you need for a relaxing week. Stunning venue and food and Catherine Annis is a great teacher. I was new to Scaravelli yoga and yoga retreats and can honestly say I will definitely do this again. I stayed in the tent for a week and was amazed at how comfortable it was and how quickly I adapted. Thank you Catherine, Jan at the Masseria Della Zingara and Yogoonashoestring for putting together such a fabulous week.
S. N.
Beautiful yoga retreat in Puglia, such an inspirational and rejuvenating week; Amy Mcdonald was amazing, every class was so carefully planned with huge attention to detail. Lovely villa, great food served with passion and care. Thank you so much xx

This is the fourth time that I have been on a yoga retreat at 42 acres organised by Yoga on a Shoestring. It was simply wonderful; the yoga teaching, the food and the locations are all of the highest quality and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

My Sister and I spent a wonderful weekend at Poundon House with Jaya and Marc during the weekend of March 9th-11th. We were thrilled with our beautiful bedroom and lovely view.
Jaya excelled herself with a thoughtfully planned and well balanced (pardon the pun) yoga schedule with flowing yoga sessions in the morning and restorative stretches and yoga nidra in the afternoon. The group honoured her request for silence until breakfast despite being a chatty and interactive group at all other times.
Marc spoiled us with some of the most exquisite delicacies that I have ever tasted. His vegetarian menu was both filling, nourishing and more-ish. The dairy and gluten free chocolate ganache tart was out of this world....
Together they were both charming and considerate hosts for what was a fabulous relaxing weekend. Great team work in action!
L. W.
We had a beautiful 10 days at Castle Bijaipur, with many exciting outings and memorable yoga. The participants are simply wonderful people, and our dear Rebecca a lovely leader. Many thanks to the staff at the Castle and everyone at YOAS.

Had an amazing weekend in Cumbria with my husband, brother adn sister in law. The yoga was incredible, went home pain free and taller. Every session was fantastic. It felt like it was tailor made just to me. Thank you

We had the most amazing week in Kefalonia and I would thoroughly recommend Yoga on a Shoestring to anyone looking for a restorative week. From the website and booking through the pre-trip information to the fabulous on site care the team are quietly efficient. The whole experience is reassuring and nurturing which combines beautifully with the yoga to produce total relaxation. We will definitely be saving up for another retreat in the future! Thank you and Namaste :)

I like Jodi's deep and inspiring yoga style. It was my third retreat with her. We were a small, friendly and warm group, an important aspect for me (I don't like large groups of 20 or so), and had a great time together. The houses and rooms are cosy, the cuisine delicious. Michelle and Michael let build something like the ultimate yoga room. The landscape and the sea, the changing light and colors are inspiring, i deeply enjoyed the Cliffs of Moher too, walking in the group from Doolin to the Info Center as well as a "promeneur solitaire" from the Info Center area to Hag's Head. Just a fantastic yoga retreat!

Wow, what an experience! It’s hard to describe something when it’s so perfect without sounding whimsical, but it really was! The venue, the food, the practices – it was all fantastic. Amy put so much effort and detail into the planning of each practice, it really demonstrated her professionalism and commitment as a yoga teacher to nurture her students; she has really set the benchmark for future retreats. The balance of rest, activities and practice was just perfect; I am just sorry it wasn’t for longer! Jan, Maria and the team made us feel completely at ease and at home in their beautiful Masseria with a laid back but indulgent vibe; nothing was too much trouble. I left feeling enlightened, empowered, and with a newfound sense of lightness - - and lifelong friendships with some beautiful kindred spirits.
S. P.
It is the ideal holiday for anyone wanting a break that focuses on well-being. I would absolutely do it again. Yoga on a Shoestring are a fantastic company to deal with, everything ran like a dream. Lara is an inspirational yoga teacher and I cannot recommend my exeperience enough.

What a great yoga retreat !
Not only was the location, food and group of people amazzing and fun - but we also had one of the most knowledgable yoga teachers in Rory Viggers. He just took it to another level but without us putting too much pressure on ourselves. It really made me think about how important the breathing is to yoga and how it can make the yoga work for you. Thankyou :)x
G. J.
The Masseria della Zingara is a wonderful place, Jan is so welcoming and created a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a yoga retreat. Catherine is a great teacher and it was such a pleasure to practise with her. The week passed all too quickly!
P. C.
My first experience of a yoga holiday and I could not have wished for a better teacher, Federica Clemente. The location at Vigla Village had stunning views and Anna and Angelo (the owners and their assistant Anna) were so friendly and helpful. Thank you :-)
V. L.
A wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating weekend of yoga with YOAS. The quality of teaching is fabulous and the food is divine! Fabulous location and a great group of people. Thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a UK yoga weekend.
W. C.
This was a gorgeous retreat - deeply nourishing in every sense of the word. Dory, Gita and Pierre formed a fantastic team, allowing everyone to feel safe and held, enabling us all to connect and to sink into the yoga and Shamanic practices. Their knowledge and experience is so rich - I highly recommend spending time in their company. I came away feeling thoroughly rested and resourced. A wonderful weekend that was extremely good value for money.
C. G.
Brilliant retreat in the Lakes District with Yoga on a Shoestring and Rory VIggers! One of the best retreats I have been on - excellent teaching in a relaxing location with great food and company.
J. S.
A truly magical holiday. Ceri Lee’s yoga sessions both morning and evening were inspiring, empowering and thoroughly enjoyable. She was a breath of fresh air in the midst of a crazy world and the views from the yoga shala and the rest of Vigla village were stunning and we were looked after so well by Anna and her staff. I would relive this holiday in a heart beat.
R. S.
This is a truly amazing retreat. A wonderful Idyllic place run by Jan who is so welcoming and goes out of her way to look after all your needs. I loved every minute of the yoga - Tania Brown is inspirational. I wish I was back there now xxx

well organised, vigla village was a fab venue for yoga holiday in cephalonia. And i would definitely recommend jaya jaks as a yoga teacher. I was new to yoga but it didn't matter. I particularly enjoyed the variety of yoga that we did. Thank you.

The retreat was amazing, one of the best experiences I have had on a Yoga retreat. Raquel is such a wise teacher and she has taught me so much about myself I will use it well. I will be booking more in the future.

The New Year retreat at 42 acres was so uplifting for me; enjoyed the company, delicious treats, not to mention the energizing yoga and mantra session led in harmony by Dory and Kate. I was so invigorated by the free flowing meditation dance ... I can still feel the vibration inside me, this give me warmth and I'm still smiling ;-) namaste.

I had a really beautiful week in Kefalonia. The yoga was a great blend of being at a reasonable level while challenging at the same time. Match that with the opportunity to meet wonderful, like minded individuals in an idyllic setting, I would definitely recommend

We returned to La Gomera after the very poor weather of last year to glorious sunshine every day. We loved Kate's teaching, swimming in the sea, delicious food and our easy walk to the tropical fruit garden. We returned feeling relaxed and healthy

Can't recommend it highly enough! Wonderful and peaceful setting in the heart of Puglia with a food to die for; all homemade by Chef Maria. Rory is a fantastic, passionate, knowledgeable and kind teacher. The company was friendly and fun. I came back refreshed and reinvigorated. Thanks

i had a thoroughly replenishing and nurturing time at 42 acres hosted by yoga kutir and yoga on a shoe string and i loved Virginie's yoga sessions, the food and the space. My favourite moment was being perched on the roof of a tree house breathing in the stillness after an invigorating morning's yoga class. A great retreat, thoroughly recommended. x

A week at Vigla Village in Spartia Kephalonia in June 2018 was bliss - Maurizio Marmorato led two brilliant yoga classes a day and a beautiful bunch. Two tips (1) there's a beautiful private beach but it's fairly secluded so a car opens up spectacular day trips (2) get one of the apartments with an immediate sea view.

A wonderful week of yoga and mindfulness at the Sridevi retreat in Sri Lanka. Nestled in nature, delicious food and wonderful staff. The teacher Ali Gilling was really lovely and I enjoyed the heartfelt practices & poems. Thank you 😊

Finca Argayal in La Gomera is so spectacularly situated beside the sea, under the mountain, with a lush permaculture garden, swimming pool under the spreading rubber tree lovely comfy rooms and delicious vegetarian food. It is truly a great place for a retreat and my yoga retreat with Jess Horne was just what I needed. Thank you so much.

We had an amazing time in Ithaca. It was the perfect retreat from the busyness of the modern world. Quiet, remote and stunning. Our teacher, Jodi, is a masterful teacher. I hope to return.
K. L.
Just back from my first yoga holiday and it was amazing. The location was perfect and the balance of yoga and holiday just right.
Dory Walker was a great yoga teacher and warm host.
Would highly recommend YOAS.
K. J.
Loved the teaching with Ceri, as always. Yewfield was a stunning location and lovely accommodation. I wasn't overly impressed with the food though. For example, it would have been nice to have something hot that was more than an egg for breakfast, and the evening meals were very variable in quality.
C. E.
Had a wonderful weekend at 42 Acres in Somerset with Yoga on a Shoestring. Virginie was a wonderful teacher, and the accommodation & food both far exceeded my expectations. I would definitely book again.

It was just excellent at Braziers Park with Kath from YOAS. This is my 2nd time this year going there. Can't wait to go again next year. Could not have been better. From the beautiful Masseria Zingara, our wonderful host Jan, delicious healthy meals from Maria, and equally delicious yoga (thanks Catherine). A fun loving diverse group, loved it!

Just returned from a week in Kefalonia with Ceri, absolutely fabulous! This was my first yoga retreat and I look forward to my next with her wherever that may be!
Thank you Ceri, it was amazing xx

If you're seeking a seamless, quality yoga holiday, in which everything is thought of so you can stop thinking look no further. With delicious meals included, from miraculously cut rainbow salads to whole fish fousad style and steaming tagines by night , generous morning and evening yoga sessions with lashings of pranayama and meditation you will find yourself unravelling all the way down to your newly expressive and grounding feet, writing poetry, wandering through courtyards blown with bougainvillea, perhaps even forgetting you have three children at home - for a moment. This is everything a retreat should be; a space to allow whatever needs to emerge to rise to the surface, a space held competently by yoga teacher Lara Stapleton-Hughes who thoroughly and creatively transmits the Scaravelli focus on that space, and breath and gravity with a hypnotic voice and tireless manner. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm are catching, but it is hard not to feel reached and grateful with a blissful body folded under the shala roof, to a fading Moroccan sun and the echo of prayer. This is a retreat that re-connects you to your natural rhythm and ability to find pleasure in simple things, in silence and stillness, your breath and yourself.
