Only open on a limited number of days per year. Well worth negotiating the twisty lanes with many blind corners to reach the house which is cared for by enthusiastic knowledgeable volunteers.
If you have mobility impaired guests with you then drive up to the gate and drop them off before parking your car back down the lane.

Interesting medieval house, worth a visit, but only open on selected dates, do check out the National Trust website first

Fantastic little house and garden. The property is down some very small narrow lanes. Parking is in a grass field near the house or disabled parking is a bit further up. There are not many facilities, just a toilet. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Would have been nice to have had some information boards in the rooms.

Small but interesting national trust house. Enjoyed seeing the lambs in the field at the rear of the property and received a great welcome from the lady staffing the entrance. Probably best done when the weather is good to see it at it's best.

Our second property on our excursion was Stoneacre and it is so gorgeous! We knew very little about it and got there a little late having charged the car on the way but the volunteers were so helpful and informative. The NT app doesn't tell you much about the property but it was the perfect accompaniment to Red House as Aymer Vallance, the guy who restored it in the 1920s, was friends with William Morris and you could see the similarities, particularly in the glasswork! I really really recommend a visit, the house is small but detailed, the garden was stunning including this sea of daffodils and the tearoom looked fab (we didn't have time to indulge ourselves). Absolutely loved it!

Another beautiful national trust site. Open weekends and with a lovely garden to sit it after your tour inside. Independent coffee area with great food too.

A small but charming house and garden. No cafe.

My partner and I really enjoyed our visit. What an amazing place! Beautifully maintained house and gardens. The guides really know their history too. A truly lovely Sunday afternoon spent in the Garden of England.

Excellent old house, not often open, so see it when you can

Nice house & gardens, will be better once COVID is over, although narrow roads to get there. Walk from car park to house may be difficult for those with mobility difficulties but there is a drop off, turn around at the house.

Nice place. Just pricey if not national trust nember

Now a favourite NT haunt. Petite, bijou, beautiful atmosphere and sense of presence and wonderful room guides. Modest sized undulating grounds with woodland and water - not ideal with killer heels! Especially beautiful in afternoon sun. Bohemian spirited tea room offering warm welcome with 'nothing is too much trouble attitude'. Check opening times.

Had an enjoyable visit to this little known gem in Maidstone, made very welcome by the volunteers and staff. Had a tour of the house and then had tea and cake made by the lady owner. The gardens were lovely. Biggest drawback is the walk from the car park to the house, not far but a bit steep.

One of the best hidden gems you can visit. It beggars belief that the NT did rent it out for decades and even now only opens it every other blue moon.

Gorgeous place. Highly recommend a visit. Steeped in history

This charming 15th Century house and garden, unlike so many NT properties that are over-run with tourists, provide a
tranquil refuge from the hurly burly of modern life. The house, a modest yeoman's cottage, which has been beautifully restored, is full of antique furnishings and other items of historical interest, while the gardens are filled with beautiful plants, shrubs, and trees.

A little gem, not very well publicised but worth a visit. The guides are so enthusiastic about this property. There is a tea room but as we didn't use it cannot comment personally.

Excellent house, lovely gardens and setting. Very helpful and knowledgeable volunteers

Great place, friendly staff, good food.

Nice house and gardens, definitely worth a visit, but quite small compared to other National Trust properties and not too much to look at.

This is a 15th century Kentish hall house extended in the 16th century and subject to extensive refurbishment by Aymer Vallence in the 1920s. Owned by the NT but the current tenants have introduced a wonderful tea room serving delicious homemade produce. Superior in every way to the traditional NT tea room. Served by the tenants themselves.

Very pretty place

A delightful property with sympathetic gardens to enhance it. You will find it in a lovely rural agricultural setting so take time to absorb it all. RB

Small but perfectly formed. Not the usual NT stately home. Worth a journey.

Very quaint house, lovely garden. Very narrow lanes to get there, easy to miss the entrance for the car park

A wonderful surprise this hidden gem was just a wonderful experience, a sense if being wrapped up in the moment, gardens and house small but a real sense of history, will make it a regular place to rake friends.
