Reviews of Poplar Park
M. T.
Good place to sit with a flask of coffee and watch the dog walker's go by.

Went to walk the dog, nice open space not too muddy. Popular for dogs. Basketball net but nothing else, good swings park the other side of the tennis club.
A. M.
Great place to left the dogs run about. Enclosed area for children's play equipment. Ample parking.
P. B.
Good rec with the usual playground and large open space for football etc. Car park, no toilets

Just about the only green space left in the area that the council hasn't recently built houses on or put a big metal fence around (Oakwood Park) and denied access to the public. As a result, Poplar Park it is used by more local residents than it was originally designed to cater for.
Too few dog poo bins and too many dog owners not willing to clear up after their dogs means that I now prefer to take my dogs elsewhere or risk bringing something unexpected back home with me on the bottom of my boot.
Also litter left by users of the weather shelter the night before typically remains spread all around the shelter the following day.
The tennis clubs' courts are nice and have recently been refurbished. It's always nice to see the facilities used.
Such a shame some park users spoil this resource for others as Poplar Park (known by those of use who've lived here for a long time as "The Rec") is my closest green space.

Wonderful memories of Park life from 1996. That year was arguably the peak of Nineties culture and for we few, we happy few, we band of brothers it was a time of exploring friends, the opposite sex and alcohol. I can’t tell you how much fun it was - four cans of Diamond White (remember that?), twenty other teenagers: all the people, so many people, the possibilities were endless. Things were different back then, simpler, no mobile phones, no Facebook, more alcoholic. Was it better though? Course it bloody was!

Very fun to go and play football, cycle, play in the playground, hang out with friends, or take your dog on a walk

Nice little find. Me and the dog over there a good 1hr30.

Nice park although the general public and dog walkers love a good litter.

Well maintained park used for kids football , one playing area for younger kids. Parking available
