If you love opera, you're gonna love this place. Every day I pass by, there are musicals or operas on the show. The only drawback is the Opera House is a little bit old in terms of interior and amenities. Or you can say it is called English heritage. :)

Cannot speak highly enough about the staff, they were all so friendly and welcoming and they really made the whole theatre experience so much better just by being there, they are such a credit to the theatre. The theatre itself is absolutely gorgeous and the sound is amazing, it's perfectly positioned near plenty of bars and taxi ranks, and the stage door is right on the street and well signposted so you don't have to spend ages hunting for it if you're like me and like to try to meet the performers afterwards!!! The only complaint I had, and it definitely wasn't just me, lots of people of all different sizes had the exact same issue, was that the seats are all about 2-3 inches too narrow and it was such a struggle to get comfortable, and/or get up! The leg room wasn't ideal either but bearable. Aside from that I couldn't have asked for a better theatre experience and will definitely be going again soon.
L. M.
Very well organised. Nice and clean. Disabled access was good. Bar drink code was adequate and refreshments were available. Excellent idea of being able to order drinks for the interim period so you could just pick them up. Toilets were superbly clean. Such a grand place to visit and experience.

Aladdin 2021! Loved it!
Came with my partner and 8 month old daughter, and we loved it
Great venue and friendly staff and the show was amazing
WISHY is a legend!
See you next year!
s. v.
Took my son for his first Panto to see Aladdin and we had a brilliant time. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The theatre was cleaned and ready so quickly after the afternoon show.
S. T.
I love this theatre!! It is a beautiful building and has amazing acoustics!
This visit was to see the Rock Orchestra by Candlelight and it was a really good night out!! The sound was excellent
It appeared to be sold out and was extremely well received by an audience thirsty to see live music!!! Brilliant to see!!
From our seats (in the first balcony by the wheelchair spaces) our view was great but restricted and we couldn't see drums/percussion at all but everything else was viewable!!
The staff are always very nice and helpful and although it's card only throughout, ice creams were available at the interval which can be sadly lacking in other theatres post covid!!!
There no proper parking but a few pay/display spaces over the road to get vintage if you are early however a word of warning, traffic wardens DO patrol through the evening as we saw one ticketing a car at 10pm as we left!! Dont let it ruin a brill evening.
Enjoy!!
K. H.
Fabulous venue and lovely friendly helpful staff. The exterior and interior of this historic building are breathtaking whatever show you’re seeing. New interval and snack order system by app is also clever tho prices are high as usual in theatres.
h.
Absolutely beautiful theatre and I really enjoyed "The play that goes wrong" performance. One of those evenings in the theatre that it's been too difficult to recapture after the pandemic. Beautiful space, wonderful performance, exuberant audience.

We went to see Joseph here last week and had a great time. The Opera House is a lovely Theatre and it doesn't matter where you're sitting as you will always have a fantastic view of the stage.
For the Gents the toilets are very small so be wary at the interval that you might spend most of the time queuing for the toilet.
Depending on where you are sat you may end up directly under an Air Conditioning unit like we did so be sure to take a jumper if you're as unlucky as us!
J. A.
Lovely venue, full of character and charm. Gallery seats (3rd level) very steep . Views really are restricted due to incline and bar in front forcing front row to lean forward, limiting view of seats behind as well.
M. D. L.
Good overall venue in Manchester City Centre, decent acoustics ... However, expensive drinks & not a great view if you're up in the gallery (literally...top half of the stage can be obscured in some productions!). In fairness the gallery seats are cheap, and they do warn you, but still worth bearing in mind. Also make sure you park early as the nearby spaces fill up fairly quick.
K. R.
The play was outstanding, beautiful theatre and helpful staff. The only reason I did give 5 stars is the nose from wrappers of sweets and chocs being opened. Pet hate of mine, otherwise stunning all round.
H. H.
I have been here a few times seating is very important as they can be rather close.
Adam is an amazing manager at this location very helpful went out his way to assist my family
C. W.
Watched waitress musical.
Was a great night out. Be prepared to cry the woman next to me was heartbroken with one song that was sung.
Funny, heartwarming.

Went to see three operas on three consecutive nights. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Made me feel welcome and the venue itself is simply charming with its decorations. The cheap seats, although tiny, do give you knee-room. Stalls are comfortable too and offer a very intimate view. I think I prefer the Opera House to the Palace.
J. S.
First visit and what a fabulous experience. We had front row seats which had a good view, but appreciate sitting further back or higher would enable surtitles to be followed more easily. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning. Be mindful of smaller seats and legroom, given it's an old theatre, but did not detract from our enjoyment
F. B.
Stalls are legroom wise, but as you go upstairs the leg room disappears, but that's because of the age of the theatre so nothing you can do about it. Service alcohol, soft drinks, hot drinks, ice cream in the intervals but expect to queue (the pre-order your interval food and drink to your seat service seems to have stopped). Not too much architecture wise to inhibit your view.

Went on Thursday 3rd March 2022 to watch Footloose. Whenever the Ambassador package is available I book it and have to say it’s normally a really good experience. However, at the Opera House it was a fantastic experience - far superior than any other theatre I’ve been to. Yes the lounge itself was more intimate but Simon, our host, was the reason it was so special. He was so attentive and accommodating, he couldn’t have done more. The show was really good and the theatre was was a joy to be in but it really was Simon who has ensured we will be returning. His ambition is to work his way up the ladder in theatre management- if he does this at the Opera House then I can guarantee it’s future is in very safe hands.
J. H.
I went to watch grease it was a good show .The only problem I was disappointed with was that on entry we was asked not to sing along OR take any pictures or videos Until the last song .I can understand not being able to take pictures due to people standing up and flash lights going off .But to ask people not to sing along was bit of a kill joy. Apart from that the show was good and it was a full house .Worth a watch
J. P.
Saw The Addams Family musical here just recently. Superb show and the Theatre staff were all welcoming and helpful. Lovely venue. Back next week for another show!!
J. T.
Grand theatre. Great show Joseph Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat. Pleasant welcoming staff. Need to allow people to go straight to their seats though and not herd them into the crowded lobby which offered no obvious seating. Noticed they delivered pre-ordered interval drinks to your seat during the interval. Thought that was a good touch and very civilised. Would visit again.
P. H.
Loved our experience at the Opera House.
We enjoyed seeing The Addams Family and as a 6ft 2 guy and in the cheap seats i wasn't expecting much but to my surprise the seats were comfortable and the legroom was more than i bargained for. Beautiful theater and looking forward to many more visits in the future.
S. S.
Lovely performance of Aladdin, fabulous set and costume. The cast superceded expectations with a special appearance from Alexandra Burke. Having said this there are a few negatives, including poor men's toilet facilities 3 single urinals, The main bar forgot my daughter's lemonade despite charging us. To add to this, staff at side entrance were rather abrupt and rude when checking covid passport, staff during performance were constantly up and down distracting from watching. I was told off for taking a single picture at the end. Overall a rather pleasant experience however the Opera House could do better for the service they are charging customers for. Would still highly recommend seeing the performances they have to offer.
V. J.
Lovely theatre. There's plenty of leg room and everything is signposted. Inside was lovely and clean too!
J. R.
Excellent venue, to get to the top you have to climb some stairs it's heck of a climb, staff helpful, can buy drinks start of the shows for your interval.
J. O.
A great venue and terrific music. There was an issue, however, as many people were instructed to arrive at 17.30 but the staff were unable to allow anybody inside until 18.00. The weather was appalling
J.
Went to see Dylan Moran brilliant as usual . The hecklers in the stalls especially the silly woman kind of upset everyone who had paid to see Dylan but it was obviously the woke brigade trying to ruin everyones night. Some block told her to shut the Fu#k up! Dylan was really professional and blew them out ending a little early but totally understand that. 5 stars to Dylan see you at the Lowry in April, hopefully the idiots won't be attending 😊
D. M.
Loved this theatre. My partner and I went to watch Joseph and the amazing technicolour dream cost. Alexendra Burke was phenomenal as was Jac Yarrow as Joseph. Unfortunately Jason Donovan was terrible as the pharaoh! Inaudible and seemingly drunk during his performance.
The staff were efficient and friendly and we found the even was well organised and flowed well.
N. T.
Great production of bat out of hell!!! Venue staff were great, especially dealing with the rowdy drunks behind us - as they said they’d be leaving a poor review due to how they were ‘treated’ - my advice for next time would be to go to a karaoke bar, not the theatre!! We’ve paid to hear the professionals, not you. Thanks Opera house and cast of bat out of hell!! A must see!!
J. R.
Lovely theatre.
Wheelchair accessible.
Staff extremely helpful.
Went to the VIP suite, highly recommended
All seats have excellent view of the stage
Saw Swan Lake by the Moscow Ballet company, superb.
C. C.
Went to see The Play That Went Wrong which was fantastic. Sat in the circle and was a fab view. We had a person with mobility difficulties in our party and the lift only went to the bottom of the circle which made it difficult for them as the wheelchair spaces and those on the first rows were taken. The seats are quite small if you are on the larger side. The staff were very good, one of our party had forgotten her ticket and it wasn't a problem. Would go again.
M.
Watched Rock of Ages, show was good. Actors performed well and interacted with the audience.
Seats are small, im 163cm tall and clothing size 10 - I was relatively comfortable in the seat however having people sat either side made it more crammed. For anyone larger or taller they may have problems, my sisters partner is 6 feet 4 inches tall, his knees were against the chair in front.
It can get quite warm so keep that in mind if you are watching a show that is likely to be fully booked
J. W.
As a customer with a disability, on arrival we were allocated Manuel who looked after us throughout. He instantly got me a chair to be able to sit in the foyer. He escorted & assisted us to our seats. He even stored my crutches somewhere & then appeared at interval with them. He then came again at the end. He was amazing & deserves recognition.
All I would say is the actual facilities for people with disabilities should be better in the building. Sitting in the foyer I felt in the way with others either nearly standing on me or sitting on me. Not ideal.
J. T.
Beautiful theatre but the seats are far too narrow, you're crammed in like sardines getting very comfortable with the person sat next you, not pleasant during a pandemic.
Gallery seating steps are deep and very steep, I wouldn't recommend the gallery to those with bad knees!
S. H.
Watched a show here for the very first time. The staff were very attentive and looked after us really well. It is a lovely theatre. Will definitely see more shows here when I am in town.
P. S.
Great night, Rock Opera didn't disappoint, very very talented people.A night to remember.👍
H. B.
Place is great. If you want a drink take out a mortgage before you go. £16+ for a medium glass of wine and a G&T. The bar we had to wait in was tiny too so many had to stand.
R. A.
Went to see Diversity at this amazing old venue. My only real complaint we were in the gallery and the ticket wasn't advertised as limited view. Whilst we could see the dancers we couldn't see all of the screen which was part of the show
R. Y.
Brilliant!!! My daughter and I watched "Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat". I have a mobility problem, and the staff were most helpful and pleasant. Great show. Ninth time I have seen it. And I will go again, given the chance. The venue is very good, we were in the stalls, extreme left, and could see everything clearly. Seats are comfortable. Could use a bit more leg room. There is a parking garage about ten minutes walk away.
I. G.
Really beautiful theatre but as I was at a show (The Cher Show) where you are allowed to video and take photos I was particularly annoyed that when on entry I had my camera confiscated. All other theatres that I've been to have been fine with me taking mine in and using it at the end of the show. I was told by the ushers that it was theatre policy however I've been to other ATG theatres and I've been fine taking it in with me. I think this is a stupid policy at this theatre and it should be revoked as it benefits both the show and theatre when good photos are taken. I hope that this is considered as I'm not the only one who feels this way. 3 stars because it is a beautiful theatre and the seat was great. Would have been considerably less if I was seated elsewhere.
S. P.
One of the beautiful interior buildings in Manchester. Great Venue for many performances. Must visit
B. M.
A bit dark getting to my seat (considering my visual impairment), would love for there to be extra extra lighting while the show isn't on.
Also when they say limited leg room for the upper seating section, they mean it. The steps between rows are steep as well.
M. A.
Very impressed with how organised things were in regards to covid regulations I felt safe and comfortable. The staff were amazing. I loved everything about it the show, the crowd those who dressed up were fabulous and the atmosphere. Really enjoyable time. Nice to be back
J. D.
Lovely venue, been today to watch Diversity. Easy to access and helpful staff. Long toilet queues but this is to be expected. We are planning on returning to see other shows soon.
G. k.
Lovely steak we had and salt and pepper calamari very tasty loved it
S. A.
If you need a laugh and to forget about everything that's going on outside then you must go to the Opera House Manchester to see Aladdin. As well as being a well produced laugh a minute Panto with amazing special effects you are also sitting in a lovely Theatre. It's such a lovely building with Chandeliers and all you would expect from an old Theatre. Having said that, the staff are far from old and can deal with any type of query with humour and professionalism. We really enjoyed and appreciated our visit there.
A. S.
Saw "Goes wrong show " which was absolutely superb and cannot recommend highly enough. The opera house was very clean and very well organised and the staff were really helpful and professional. Will happily see other shows here.
L. H.
GREAT. obviously the show i saw (the play that goes wrong) may not be what you see so venue-wise, very beautiful. was sat on front of upper cicle/gallery/the highest section seats high up ARE uncomfortable but you get a good view anyway.
T. S.
Lovely old theatre. Recently watch The Addams Family which was excellent.
S. P.
Very clean, friendly staff, easy walk from piccadilli, show was amazing x
D. M.
Watched Grease it was fantastic even with Peter Andrea. Staff were brilliant too 👏
S. T.
Nice theatre but we were sat under the air conditioning at the back in the gallery and it was quite cool. Staff did turn it up but it was still cool so recommend to take a pull over just in case.
J. R.
We watched The Play that Goes Wrong. It was the funniest thing I've seen in ages. It was incredible.
G. D.
Been here many times over the years.
Its a great theatre space. Stalls seats were spacious enough to be comfortable, and view of the stage was good.
P. B.
Limited leg space in seats, other than that an ideal venue to see a show. Also lots of restaurants and bars in very close proximity. Walkable to Deansgate rail station. So all in all a great location
K. B.
Emails advised to arrive strictly for your alloted entry time, ours was 6.30pm for a 7.30pm show. Not sure why this is being done as it meant everyone was crowded into the lobby, small bar area & standing on the stairs. Terrible for anyone with access issues or trouble standing for a long period, lots of the audience when we attended were older & made to stand in a crammed space for an hour for what?
Seats in the circle were good though, row E pictured
J. D.
Beautiful venue with good acoustics. Thoroughly enjoyed the ballet we watched. Drinks were reasonably priced for an established venue. Staff were all very welcoming.
p. M.
I attended Fatal Attraction on Saturday at the Opera House. . The play was good. The acting of the main characters very well portrayed . American accents spot on . Stage set was ingenious.
What spoiled the experience for many of the audience and the actors was those in the audience who were inebriated . Those drinking bottles of wine and bottles of vodka in their seats. Laughing when it was a serious part in the play. Swearing .Mobile phones going off. Talking so you couldn’t hear the actors on the stage. It wasn’t a gig they were at , but a serious play , yet many did not appreciate that. I felt sorry for the actors and the staff. I know we are all trying to get back to normal and people are enjoying life again, but this was not the night out i expected.
M. R.
Visited on Friday 3rd June for the Play that goes wrong. I knew nothing about it before but belly laughed throughout. Utterly brilliant.
Well organised venue but ensure you get there early to see the whole show
S. M.
Went to see freedom tonight was a brilliant show thought the staff were a bit disorganized the wait to go into the stalls was terrible the girl letting us in didn't have her radio so didn't really have much of a clue what was going on I think keeping people waiting in a queue on the stairs was a bit much. On another note the security staff particularly one woman was terrible we came out and I wanted to go back in to buy some more souvenirs I spent 30.00 in total said you can't go back in when you have come out loads of people were doing it. Then we were outside the same rude woman said to my mum who is in her 80s with a stick said you have to move she was a really rude piece of work. Also as well the opera House is looking a little tired particularly in the seating area could do with a refurb.
R. M.
I love the theatre and this one is great place. Not too big but a great atmosphere.
J. P.
Sat in the stalls, row M which gives a good view of the stage. You can order from your seat before the show and during interval. Not enough toilets meaning a long queue.
C. A.
Always love going here. The staff are efficient, friendly and can't do enough for you. Seen several great shows here and have never been disappointed
D. B.
What a fantastic show. So well organised. No waiting in a long queue. Staff were very helpfull and polite. It was my first time seeing a ballet and both me and my daughter loved every minute. Fantastic costumes and the dancers are excellent. I will be attending again. Thank you for such a great experience. Mrs D Begley
J. O.
We saw George Ezra here, (fantastic performance) the venue is quite small so everyone can see the stage clearly, nice bar inside, clean toilets, comfortable seating 😁🎶
J. (.
Swan Lake, Moscow Ballet.
Superb.
Booked the VIP lounge, well worth the extra. Excellent hostess, relaxing, took the hassle away from visiting the theatre.
No queuing, pre performance drinks, same during interval. Taken to our seats. Could also leave our coats.
Look up to the ceiling. Absolutely stunning.
J. q.
Really enjoy the opera house. Watched a couple of shows here recently. Very attentive staff and great shows.
Not as grand as the Palace but still a pretty great theater.
L. A.
Loved ut. The opera was incredible. The inside could do with a freshen up tho seats not very comfortable but over all enjoyed it as the show carmen was out of this world
R. H.
friendly helpful welcoming security door staff on arrival, as well bar, ticket and programme staff. Beautiful interior architecture in the theatre and comfortable lush velvet seating. Loads of accessible public conveniences on all levels of the theatre.
Bar prices are quite expensive for drinks so be prepared for that as you will not get much change back from £10 for buying a drink.
Also be prepared for climbing a lot, and I mean a lot of stairs if you are on the upper and top floor which are quite steep in the theatre itself, so people who have vertigo and are scarred of heights i'd suggest you avoid booking in the top levels as its a Long way down. But on a positive side you're gluteus maximus will definitely get a good workout and exercised so if you have mobility issues then stall seating would probably be advised and best for you.
K. L.
Great show Chicago. Its a must see!! Break time drinks were shambles just left on the side for anyone to grab or do something to not very safe and paid for doubles and only got singles.
C. N.
Great theatre, prices on drinks are high
B. C.
Cut loose. Footloose. Great show. Decent venue. I always prefer The Palace to The Opera House. Still had a good night.
J. C.
Seats aren't the best but nice place
P. S.
Saw "Joseph" with Jason Donavon last week. Great show Alexandra Burke was fantastic and the real star of the show.
Staff and facilities were excellent.
J. B.
Been a few times, cool venue but when you sit in the stalls the audio is hard to hear correctly, Seats arent a great deal comfortable in the circle or stalls but the gallery seating is alright!
N. S.
Peppa pig life was an interesting experience my 3 year old loved it even though getting in was a bit of a shambles and we only just made it to our seats as the curtains went up and some people were still sitting down as the show began.
The cast of the show were great though and would recommend for 3yr olds who love the pig
D. S.
Lovely place, great staff. Pre-order your interval snacks on the way in, using a displayed QR code to avoid queues, and the staff bring them right to your seat. There is also a discount code for the nearby Great Northern NCP car park with quite a bit off, email or ring in advance if you can't find it on the website.
S. M.
Went to this theatre to see Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat. We had seats in the Circle Row F seats 20 & 21 and although the seats are on the small size, our view was fantastic
J. R.
Saw a production of Chicago. Best musical I have seen in years. Fantastic experience and excellent show. Well done to the whole cast.
L. L.
Well-organised venue. Sound system was great also good view of show.
C. H.
Great place to watch an evening with Stanley Tucci, couldnt ask for more!
D. P.
1st Visit to The Opera House in quite sometime. It was great getting the opportunity to return to a Theatre.
As the Performance for our Motown Show was not starting until 7.30pm we were surprised to read the Theatre wanted us in for 6pm, we turned up at 6.15pm only to discover they were encouraging you to use the Theatre Bar only to be charged extortionate prices no doubt if the prices of the Sweets were anything to go by. A bag of Cadbury Chocolate Buttons and Maynard Wine Gums were £6 when you can get the same items at your local Tesco for £2.50...really!!
Was similarly unfortunate to find the Hand Dryers in the Mens Toilet wasn't working.
Whilst an excellent Motown production, slightly tinged with frustrations.
S. P.
One of the most Beautiful interior buildings in Manchester! Fabulous venue!
T. S. F.
Love the theatre !!! Had the VIP experience in the lounge, the chap who looked after us was fantastic !!!!
v. l.
You have to remember that this place was built in 19th century and as such reflects the ambience then . Obviously its not wholly suited to modern day productions but we all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening despite antiquated facilities and steps steps steps...Good job I can still use them.
P. G.
Front of house needs to be better organised. Confused access time to enjoy a pre show booked bottle if prosecco. Confusing directions by staff, and customers asking other customers for info. We were ushered into the stalls bar initially which couldn't supply such a basic item as soda and lime. Found the other bar, directed back to the entrance to have a ticket validated, told couldn't take glasses into the auditorium, then told differently by other staff. Access to the auditorium was denied, although other folk were in there. They were made to come out, then 10 minutes later allowed back in after standing in the stairs. Please sort out information and staff training. Having said that, the show was absolutely brilliant, faultless and one I would watch again.
f. j.
Went to see Seven Drunken Nights, the story of the Dubliners.
Great night.
Great place.
L. C.
Absolutely fabulous experience, the staff are so friendly, seats were really comfy and the show was amazing with great acoustics and lighting.
A. M.
As a wheelchair user who regularly attends shows I can honestly say the opera house has to be Mt favourite. The staff are awesome and the view from the disabled seating to the stage is also awesome.
S. S.
Like many older theatres the seats aren't the most comfortable, but the general facilities were good (and the play we saw was brilliant!).
w. l.
Great view but If you don't like heights don't book seats for the upper tier they are very high up, stairs down to seats were scarily steep.
B. L.
Very good but as I am a theatre card holder plus, not having the privaledge of the 25 percent off alcohol is disgusting regardless of time! I shall not be having my family pay for another ' privaedge ' card
N. C.
It was a last minute plan to finally get to see a musical here.
I was not disappointed, the legroom was small but you get what you pay for, and you'll forget about it once the performance wheel you in!
g. l.
I saw Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat. It was amazing. Its a lovely venue.
A. W.
The Addams family, great show uncle Festa best in show by far. just wish the seating was more suitable for people of 5 ft plus.
l. a.
We saw carmen absolutely brilliant. The sears were uncomfortable tho and our seats were double booked. We managed to dort this and we still enjoyed the show the performance was incredible
M. B.
What an amazing place to see a show.😍 The staff are so attentive and friendly. We weren't short of a good view either as there isn't a bad seat here.😁
D. B.
Love going to the opera house, visited numerous times. The only thing that dissapoints is the prices they charge for drinks. Was very shocked when my friend told me the price for two glasses of prosecco. She was charged £24. At the interval i questioned the cost as thought there must of been a mistake. It was correct £12 a glass. Do they really need to charge that amount?
K. O.
Lovely staff V friendly had gallery seats so plenty of stairs but no biggy, just something to be aware of. All round nice experience.
M. B.
Fantastic show, staff were absolutely brilliant(I've resently hsd a heart attack) showing us the safest way to our seats before and after the show, first class
D. T.
A big old theatre, with a great selection of shows. Generally a good view from all levels. The top level is quite high and very steep.
V. B.
Great place. Knocked one star off as it gets very chaotic there. Only certain bars open and sweet/drinks kiosk in foyer is always closed.
P. G.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The show amazing. Such energy. Well worth the trip.
L. Q.
Loved it, show was amazing. We had drinks in the Ambassador suite the lady that looked after us was lovely
M. K.
First time back in a long while, forgot what a lovely building it is. It oozes character and history, and provides a more intimate theatre experience.
I.
I was working there so I didn't get chance to see a show. Lovely building and the shows are getting great reviews. If I lived closer I'd definitely go to see a show
C. N.
Went to see George Ezra had a great night place was bouncing great atmosphere nice old theatre must have been a grand place in its day been there a few times over the years
J. S.
Seats are tight, was up in the gallery, seats were good but is a step decline so hope you aren't afraid of heights!
J. C.
Show and staff were brilliant but air conditioning was far to cool, had to put our coats on at interval, glad I wore a jumper.
C. C.
Brilliant night watching Chicago.
Drinks before the show and drinks in the interval waiting for us very organised, well done 👏 Opera House.
C. C.
Beautiful building. Lots of history there. Views are decent too. Good selection of shows
b.
While this was both beautiful and classy, the staff were also very welcoming, helping you and directing you. ❤
j. t.
Went to matinee of Singing in the Rain, enjoyed performance very much. Seating not so good, cramped and uncomfortable, hence three stars.
F. P.
Great fun watching Singing in the Rain. Bit corny. But such energy, and happy songs. As they say, a feelgood event.
m. r.
Show was amazing staff really nice a little unorganised tho in directing people and letting people in way after the show has started which was a little annoying. But a great place
K. W.
Enjoyed every minute of motown.great night! You can pre order drinks for the interval,so your not queuing up.
C. A.
Such a prestige theatre house, despite the seats being a tad uncomfortable this soon went away, The staff were excellent and I hope to see more triumphant shows in the near future!
C. K.
Great theatre easy to buy drinks for interval bit of a crush getting out at the end but nothing to worry about
R. C.
Nice place, some good shows. Seating is a bit cramped. Saw Joseph this time; doors opened late and the queue for merchandise was ridiculous. Ran out of Programmes and only 1 person serving and she didn't know what she was doing
I. S.
No programmes available to buy and no Proseco glasses available but still charge full price for the drinks. We didn't want this bit to 'go wrong'.
A. O.
Came to watch swan lake. Seems the staff are only just getting used to covid 2 years in, the queue outside was an absolute joke! Ticket said to refer to our email about what time to arrive, and the email said to refer to our ticket about the time of arrival.. so as I'm sure you can imagine everybody turned up at the same time and it was a nightmare. Not enough signs for the bathrooms, several of them were left completely empty whilst people queued up down the aisles of the two obvious ones, not a single steward pointed these out to anybody!! People were allowed in an out during the show as well, which was a complete disturbance.
The performance however, was amazing and I will not rate this low purely due to some staff hiccups.
K. L.
Saw the Cher Show. Absolutely fabulous. Everyone from the lovely security men on the door were fantastic. A pleasure to be there. Thankyou.
D.
They were really helpful and friendly, went to see Singing in the rain 🌧️ and had my raincoat at the ready as warned on the small print lol
N. /.
Nice old building. Staff very helpful.
Great view of the show
J. T.
Went to see the goes wrong show, staff were amazing, show was incredible, can't say fairer than that!
G. H.
Recently visited for Aladdin Pantomime which did not fault expectations. A hilarious show which I'd 100% recommend.
The Opera House itself is very old school in decor but the experience overall was wonderful. Memories for your little ones to be had in the Opera House makes a visit worth while. Reasonably priced for the events but as expected like most entertainment venues the confectionary & refreshments were very expensive.
I wouldn't hesitate to book here, support your local theatres, they've deserve it & they need your business more than ever after/with the effects of the current pandemic.
V. S.
Friendly staff, beautiful architecture all helping to build on the wonderful atmosphere of live theatre.
Visited three times now and felt very welcome.
You can't get in with an opened bottled water but you're fine if the bottle is sealed.
D. P.
The shows are fantastic atmosphere unbelievable theatre no blocked views one of the best theatres in Manchester
C. R.
Both the Opera House and the Production we experienced, "& Juliet" make this worthy of a rare 5 star. The price was right too. Hopefully something will be playing while you are visiting this cool city. Can't praise & Juliet enough. What tremendous show with awesome dancing, singing and acting - yup all three were fabulous. I understand this is a Manucunian production and the next stop will be London's West End and then who knows, Broadway? Acoustics are top notch in the Opera House. I feel lucky to have had a truly wonderful evening here.
S. “. T.
Nice building/features. Staff could be a bit more friendly. Very small seats.
B. b.
Really well organised for getting everyone in with checking covid passports too. Great performances! Lots of fun. Just wish the refreshments were not so expensive.
Y.
The place is nice and aways happy but there is 2 things I don't like..
First is the lack of toilets for such a large amount of people and 2 is the ridiculous times they want you there waiting on the stairs or lobby area its not covid safe to have you waiting in a confined space
k. m.
Great evening out. Fantastic play excellent facilities and helpful staff. Recommended
C. W.
My family had a great time at the Aladdin Panto this afternoon ..... really enjoyed the show ... particularly Wishy Washy ....he was outstanding ....and Alexandra Burke was excellent ...supported by the rest of the troupe it was well worth the cost. ..it was.my three grandchildrens first trip to a panto along with my American daughter in law and they all loved it....we will be back next year ......
a. m.
Watched Aladin with family, covid restrictions in place, very efficient and helpful staff. Absolutely fantastic building lots of character and history but not too big, only negative prices of sweets and drinks, bring your own, except for any alcohol of course as not allowed, fantastic time had.
M. B.
Amazing old theatre. Well organised with really nice staff and comfy seats :-))
C. B.
We saw The Nutcracker and it was incredible! The day was greatly helped by the wonderful staff who could not do enough to help us make the afternoon better for my 87 year old Mum who was in her wheelchair.
L. H.
Went to see Aladdin last night an the show itself was amazing, the star of the show was definitely Ben Nickless aka Wishee Washee. Just a couple of things to mention firstly the staff let you in altogether and then make you stand in the foyer altogether where it is hard to maintain the 2 meters distance. We asked a lady when we could enter the auditorium and she simply replied "well it's not ready yet, so when it's ready". You have to pay an additional £2 for a booster seat for your child to be able to see, nowhere did it say you couldn't take photos or nobody mentioned this to us but when I tried to take a photograph I was shouted at and made to feel like a child. If it was mentioned I wouldn't have bothered but to just shout at somebody is rude. Upon the shoe finishing everybody was let out at exactly the same time so all covid rules were broken as everybody was rushing to the doors. The show itself though was incredible I honestly can not fault in any way... defo worth a watch ...
M. J.
To be positive the pantomime Aladdin was amazing last night . Wishy Washy was amazing definitely the star of the pantomime but all the cast was fantastic. It was the staff very disappointing rude, unhelpful. I was told in an extremely rude manner not to take photos which i wear hearing aids could not hear or make clear why the man was shouting at me . I asked my daughter was i had done .wrong to be told no photos by her Booster seats cost £2 extra for your child which does not seem fair. But my major concern is regarding safety. You are asked to arrive at set time but all kept in small area. When pantomime ends everyone is allowed to leave at the same time no saftey or consideration for those worried about covid and risks. Although it was fantastic i would not return due to the staff .
K. V.
Great show , lovely staff , Shame about the few trying to take photos / film spoiling it for others. They should have been asked to leave after being told 3 times!! ( row s)
H. S.
Saw Bat out of Hell... Absolutely brilliant! An intimate theatre experience, truly old world quality with modern performance. You forget how many fabulous songs meatloaf did. The older (sorry) leads had the most incredible voices... Spine tingling when they sang together.
G. J.
Love the old place good for acoustics, we saw Swan Lake by the Moscow ballet and enjoyed it there. The place is in need of a bit of TLT and a paint job in places but don't let that put you off.
J. W.
Went to see the Moscow City Ballet perform Swan Lake at the Opera House. Covid checks were very well managed. There was plenty of fresh air before and after the performance. The Opera House is a wonderful venue. There is an NCP car park on New Quay St a couple of minutes wall away. It's a shame parking is so expensive in Manchester!
R. S.
A lovely theatre comfortable seats friendly helpful staff.
R. P.
Absolutely fantastic Bat out of Hell show this afternoon, loved every minute of it, looking at the cast as they performed it looked like they were enjoying it too, just wished I could have seen it sooner then I could have come back and watched it again, and I would have.
The show was brilliant, which is why we were there, the Opera House itself though could do with a makeover, my seat dipped at the back on the left hand side making me sit at an awkward angle and gave me a little twinge in my lower back and the gents next to the stalls was little oderouse shall we say, apart from that a great afternoon was enjoyed by myself and the rest of the audience if the standing ovation at the end was anything to go by.
E. B.
Had a great time seeing the show but it was baffling that we were asked to arrive one and a half hours before the show started but there was nowhere to sit. We asked and were sent from place to place but there were no seats and staff were reluctant to provide them, so I felt very worried for people who were unable to stand for a long time. The seats cut off circulation in both of my legs but I guess that's because they're old.
The venue itself was lovely and everything was well organised apart from the lack of seating/having to stand around for 45 minutes.
V. S.
Alan Carr was hilarious! Venue well organised, we were covid checked an security checked. An excellent night.
D. B.
We went to see Bat out of hell the musical, beautiful building, well looked after and very clean.
S. F.
Disabled seating needs to be bigger so the user can sit facing forward and others don't have to climb over them. Drink and snacks a little pricey
S. C.
Lovely theatre, with much better seating than the nearby Palace Theatre. More leg room and better staggering if seating. Still an older theatre, with great atmosphere, so if you need big seating you might be better off heading to the Lowry.
L. Q.
Went to see One Night of Elvis, fantastic show. The Opera House was packed out, entry to the theatre was smooth Covid passports checked at the door. Very few people wearing masks and no social distancing. But never the less an enjoyable evening.
M. J.
We attended Alladin with Alexandra Burke as Alladin . Excellent vocals by Alexande but the stage entertainment was hands down a very cheeky Wishy Washy and controlled the stage was Ceri Dupree as Madame Thank-you .All utterly entertaining with a entire audience screaming laughing !
M. B.
Just a really friendly bunch of people who work here. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes to get here in the car (someone has closed a bunch of roads in the city!) but once you do, strap in for a warm welcome. Super friendly folk who work here and a special thanks to duty manager Adam for taking time to make our visit extra fun.
J. G.
As always an amazing show, J J J Joseph, great performances all round especially from Alexander Burke.
N. G.
The theatre has had a bit of a make over but the selection of drinks is still poor (only 2 lagers) but still great to be back at the place
K. J.
Hmmm, what to say? I like the Opera House, however it doesn't seem to have changed in the last 40 plus years. It is cramped and visibility from the side stalls can be limited, they need to improve the toilets and bars too, far too busy... having said that I still like it!
J. B.
I love big old theatres like The Opera House. Enjoyed Waitress there in Saturday. Had seats on row N in the circle, and could see the stage clearly. Will be back again one day!
h. a.
Great nite out took me way back to my childhood, not very good for disabled though if you are in the balcony area, 3 flights of stairs, then steps which are at least 10 inches high
A. S.
Friendly staff and an impressive looking venue. View of the stage was great, as was sound quality. Only issue is the space between the seats was quite small, it was very tight between the people on either side of you.
D. R.
Went to see rock off ages on Sat night. The show was amazing. A must see show the cast was brilliant couldn't stop laughing. This show is a must see and going back to the theatre to support them. Only thing that let it down is it was to hot in the theatre. But covid safe.
A. S.
Lovely theatre, helpful staff and a great show " Fatal Attraction " No mask wearing which felt liberating!!
A great day spent in the vibrant city of Manchester.
H. L.
The staff were helpful. The theatre is rather dated and could do with some renovation. The show was fun.
A. R. (.
Fantastic show, atmosphere and staff. The seats were comfortable with enough leg room for us. All in all a wonderful night x
A. S.
Saw Swan Lake. Was beautiful. Opera House will laid out. Take your own drinks n snacks as very overpriced at venue.
M. W.
Best of the two main Manchester City Centre. theatres, though could do with a bit of a refurb of the auditorium. Been a whole since been and the seats in the circle were a bit cramped.
D. D.
Lovely old building, great theatre, but desperately needs updating, toilets are dreadful and tiny bars spoils the rest of the "experience"
A. S.
Had an amazing experience attending the Aladdin Pantomime. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the whole experience was fantastic, definitely will be visiting again.
J. W.
Told to arrive at 6 but the auditorium wasn't open until 6.30
Drinks expensive
But a fantastic historic venue and a great evening
T. B.
It was so fun but they needed more toilets because they at lots of people so they needs to be more toilets.the service was amazing I went there with ly family it was really fun.i think they should be more room for the tall people I am one of them and they isn't any room. The Oprah house was amazing I would rate it a 5 it is amazing
S. W.
Beautifil iconic Manchester theatre where we saw the amazing Johannes Redebe and his Freedom show which was an outstanding and heartwarming offering. We loved every minute.
P. M.
Watched Fatal Attraction last throughly enjoyed it. Kym Marsh and the rest of the cast performed brilliantly thank you!
J. G.
Good authentic theatre. Only let down by the toilet availability for the men's. Seems that not all were opened at the time of interval causing huge queues.
A. F.
I just saw the Back to the Future musical and it was awesome! 5 starts for that. But this review is about the venue itself. I’m a pretty tall woman and I’m sure I must have annoyed a few people behind me as I was annoyed with having people blocking my view in front of me too. I just wish the seating would have been more at an angle to allow everyone a better view of the scene. Besides that the staff was very helpful and kind
A. C.
First time visit to this venue.
Had a Fantastic time and staff service was warm and friendly, will visit again!
Great choice of parking nearby.
Use NCP Spinningfields to park as they have an evening rate after 5pm and only a five minute walk to venue.
M. V.
Great evening and a great show.
A night at the movies,Chicago Blues brothers. Very expensive bar no need for silly prices and treated like cattle when queuing at the bar!
A. C.
Comfy seats but the stalls are all on the same level so it can be difficult to see the stage.
P. S.
Singin In the Rain fantastic this evening. What a performance from all involved.
& Juliet was amazing tonight. Faultless energetic performances from everybody with tip top comedy timing. Great set, superb lighting design and the music performed to perfection by the band. Don't miss this at the next stop!
K. C.
The theatre was great! Staff very helpful.
i. m.
Went to see Blue's Brothers
We enjoyed it so much , from arriving and registering for covid.
To standing up and joining the oldest mosh pit.
Music was great and the theatre look tip top, it was a release for everyone after covid lockdown.
Thank you for that.
J. R.
Excellent show, fantastic staff. Thank you for a great experience and I look forward to the next show.
S. C.
Recently saw Back to the Future - The Musical at the Opera House. Friendly staff to help you at the door, get your tickets, and to direct you to your seat. Good view of the stage from the circle. Bar not too far to go to in the interval. Such a fabulous show made this an overall great experience. Just a problem finding any reasonably priced parking near by.
c.
Great crew. Friendly, and rather fabulous bar staff. To be expected with all theatres are the slightly over priced drinks and snacks, but with a more than reasonable selection here. Parking is very close by. Lots of amenities, such as cocktail bars, residents and pubs are also a stones throw away. Well located theatre, with a well designed auditorium.
I went to see &Juliet, and it was hands down the greatest musical I've seen to date!
D. W.
Enjoyed the show but seating is a little cramped and at the interval the refreshments bar was open for a very short time leaving people in the que un served
R. M.
Brilliant show
Friendly team but took a long time to seat us. Too many people crowding in the foyer and up the stairs, very warm, too close for comfort
Once seated, great view and plenty of room
g. g.
It. Was. AMAZING!!! I watched back to the future and I'll never EVER be the same! It's all the most flashy light, tight seating and amazing actors and customer service that truly (and I mean truly) bring to life the essence of theatre :)
N. T.
Great show, comfortable seats and great view of the stage all round excellent experience.
N. P.
Great performance- Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat
j. w.
Been to watch Aladdin tonight show was fantastic !!!!!!!!
Could not believe how much food , bottles + wine glasses were left on the floor along each row of seats as we were leaving - really feel for the cleaning staff !!
D. K.
Beautiful building, awful chairs! So cramped and sat on top of each other. Chairs have big metal bars that dig in. People turning up late and everyone having to get up and move.
Very expensive for drinks
K. H.
Not a lot of room when sat down...old building..great character....but old seats..people a lot slimmer when fitted..
D. H.
Beautiful venue and very helpful staff. The Carpenters story was out of this world. Not to be missed.
S. H.
Absolutely Flawless excellent production of Joseph and his technicolour dream coat. Great attentive staff, awsum service, highly recommended to everyone
M. M.
Great service from all staff.great place to watch a musical
H. N. H.
We went to MOH to see Back to the Future (March 2020)...Wow! Got to be the most amazing theatre experience we've both had... it's got everything including some mind blowing special effects. Of you are reading this & live within travel distance of Manchester during its run there the quite simply GO! #Backtothefuture
A. M.
Great to be back in the theatre and the Opera House Manchester does it so well.
Fatal Attraction was brilliantly done.
P. R.
Fantastic show. COVID-19 safe experience & staff were polite & welcoming
k. b.
Great show, foods a little pricy 😅
D. w.
A great show Joseph Alexandre Burke played a great part as the narrator. being pregnant and all.
S. P.
Great theatre! We were sat in the circle and the view was amazing
S. J. K.
It was a great place with equally great performers on stage producing top notch narrative for me and my friends.
D. S.
Fantastic show. £13 seats at the very back but it was great. Back to the future
c. j.
Brilliant atmosphere with lots of leg room (as I am 5ft 10) thank you can't wait to visit again
D. J.
Went to see Aladdin with Alexandre Burke. Really funny great tonic under the circumstances with the pandemic. Brilliant they put it on.
P. T.
Lovely experience the show was good my friends really enjoyed it
P. B.
Brilliant show and fantastic staff. Room for improvement with Covid guidelines. 90% of the people were not wearing masks.
L. H.
Massively needs updating. Quite scruffy unfortunately.
We are from Sheffield & go to the Lyceum here really frequently, there is no comparison.
Hopefully the funds will be available for updating.
R. W.
Brilliant fun show. Great experience.
K. K.
Overly old theatre. Great atmosphere. Really friendly.
J. S.
Went to see singing in the rain was a great show and nice day out from leeds
G. W.
Good views from the back of the circle, drink delivery straight to chair
J. H.
Went to the panto it was brilliant. The kids enjoyed it but was also funny for the adults. Would 100% recommend.
J. F.
The seating is extremely cramped and tight which was a downside. Felt like sardines rammed in and arms don't come up on the seats up allow a little extra room. Bar was expensive but that's the usual case in theatres. Nice venue could see well.
J. P.
What a fantastic theatre beautiful great show great staff brilliant atmosphere
V. R.
Watched Chicago, amazing and nice to be getting back to normal.
S. L.
Seating well arranged. Fair amount of leg room. Rows elevated so could see well
L. M.
Was advised to be there at a certain time for entry but everyone had to queue up and the doors into the theatre seating area were not open until 7.15pm.
A. 7.
Great theatre. Watched bat out of hell, brilliant show. Seats get uncomfortable after a while. Staff lovely, friendly & very helpful. Will definitely be going back. Drinks expensive. 🎭
D. C.
Love this theatre, great show and excellent staff!
P. H.
Watched the Addams Family show, absolutely brilliant. Well worth the visit.
J. E.
Went on an afternoon matinee to see 'Bat out of Hell'. The musical was excellent as were the cast.
The staff and venue was perfect, would definitely be going soon!! 😊
D. V.
Really traditional intimate venue. Full of character but could do with some more toilets!
M. R. C.
Great show but the steps to the gallery are too steep for elderly people to access with ease. It is very difficult.
D. B.
Fabulous building, great service. Five seats back from circle are always the best view. Alladin was fantastic.
J. K.
Covid vaccination status checked on entry. Plenty of staff available. Everywhere felt clean and reasonable safe. Not the venues fault I just wish more of the audience had worn their masks as requested.
s. m.
Beautiful old theatre , .We had our first outing since covid to see Bat out of hell AMAZING . I would say the covid restrictions were a joke . Temperature checks not done , proof of vaccinations glanced at .In all honesty you could've shown a barcode from Argos and probably got in , apart from that it was great to see and feel live theatre again ,well worth a visit .
R. M.
Went to see pantomime really enjoyed it all the staff are really pleasant only downfall is £6.50 for a tub of popcorn.
T. P.
Went to see Bat out of Hell which was amazing the reason I've given it 3 stars is the venue , the staff were lovely , friendly and very helpful but the seats are very uncomfortable unless you are twiggy , they are very narrow and if like me you have a fuller figure the arm rests that are too short to actually rest your arms on just end up digging into your hips. The morning after the show I'm sporting two bruises on my hips thanks to those seats.
J. S.
Nice venue, seats pretty comfy as well.
L. G.
Fantastic show and venue.... really enjoyed the afternoon I spent there with the wife watched bat out hell brilliant experience...the only moan I have about venue is the seating could do with an upgrade....other than that would recommend ...thx to all the staff at opera house...
J. W.
Efficient entry process checking Covid passports. Not 5 stars as seats not socially distant. Beautiful theatre.
J. L.
Excellent organisation by the friendly staff. Saw the musical Chigaco which was brilliant
s. r.
Fantastic evening watching Adams Family musical. Great cast.
L. G. m. u. 2. (.
Very big and good shows
M. P.
Just been and watched Rock of Ages
Wow what a fantastic performance
Yes seats were cramped but its an old theatre what do people expect fully reclining leather seats.
We were on the back row on ZZ but still managed to see everything.
Thanks to all the staff
S. G.
Beautiful building, a great night out.
J. D.
We went to see The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight. Absolutely amazing experience in such a lovely building.
S. B.
Visited the theatre on a Saturday evening. Disabled parking is on the street next to the venue. Very helpful staff who showed us to our seats. Great night, great venue, great show!
L. S.
Old theatre. Seats close together. Steps in the gallery where very large and view was vertigo inducing at times. Lovely old building but if you are not fit or happy with heights this is not the place for you.
j. w.
Watched Chicago here, good view, central location for transport and bars.
N. N.
was great building great show just a shame about the 2 hours you stood in the foyer waiting for the peppa pig show
G. J.
Watched meatloaf, Opera house good view, seats placed well, so your not looking at the person back of head in front of you, show could of had more songs from the Bat of hell album, but overall good show.
R. J.
It's a lovely theatre, with excellent staff and brilliant shows.
p. t.
Good show but drinks were very expensive
G. K.
Very nice enjoyed the Abba tribute night loved the hand crafted walls and ceilings it stunning
J. B.
Whilst the building is looking a little tired. It was clean and functional. Staff were fantastic and we felt safe. Enjoyed ganster granny
D. G.
Not a great deal of legroom between rows of seats. Otherwise, enjoyed our visit.
A. M.
Lovely staff, kindly moved our seats before the show started right near the front without any extra cost.
V. S.
Brilliant seats, staff very helpful and winning when beat the queue for the ladies
P. M.
Went to see the Cat and the Canary at the Opera House. The venue is fine it wasn't full so plenty of leg room. The play was ok first half a bit slow but second half much better. As always at theatre prices for drinks etc over the top but part and parcel of going I suppose. Covid restrictions were relaxed more than I was lead to believe, they just took my temperature but didn't ask for lateral flow or other proof. One point I would make is to book parking as part of the deal when you book tickets. I paid £15 for about 3 hours at the NCP down the road but I am certain you can find it for much cheaper. I will book hotel, theatre parking etc as one deal next time.
A. W.
Great night. Well organised, good bar service (v important) had a great night. thanks
t.
Excellent views from circle but minimal legroom due to vintage design of venue seats.
Saw Grease the musical- good performance spoiled by drunken disturbance at back of theatre and drunken karaoke during songs. Pity, but that's an average night out in Manchester.
A. C. C.
Plenty of leg room comfortable seats helpful staff excellent show
C. M.
The theatre is amazing. The performance of Chicago was incredible.
A. D.
Went to see a 1 man show, staff were ace, covid controls were executed without fuss and were well rehearsed. All staff were friendly polite and more than happy to help.
The only downside was the limited range of food and drink available but immsure that will change over time
W. S.
Lovely atmosphere, authentic theatre experience. Also great you can order a drink or snacks to your seat!
P. B.
Not the most ornate theatre but nice enough. Very big stage and great acoustics. Good drink and snack selection but ridiculously overpriced on all items.
A. S.
Lovely theatre. Good location
J. C.
Went to see the cher show well worth a visit
A. R.
Fantastic building bar staff charged us twice for a bottle of wine that was extortionate in the first place £21 for a wine you can buy in tesco for £5
R. W.
Seats are a bit cramped, but expected for an old theatre. Nice place!
H. B.
Always a great show but struggle parking nearby
l. B.
Clean, nicely organised and felt safe. Booking through ATG, who try to accomodate most needs.
D. M.
Watching Footloose...only one word for it: brilliant! Uplifting and fun, definitely worth a watch
C. M.
Aladdin was fantastic, no issues with all the extra covid bother at the opera house, checks were swift and efficient.
K. T.
A wonderful late lunch. Great food and delightful service. Would highly recommend..
R. E.
The cher show fab .love this old theatre .
A. A.
Had a great time.
C. T.
Fabulous show, (5 star) Moscow state ballet performing swan lake, seats very cramped, and as to expected concessions very expensive
O. B.
Great venue, but £23 for a bottle of supermarket rosé? I'm surprised so many actors can afford to be alcoholics.
K. L.
Always an enjoyable experience at the Opera House. Very friendly helpful staff.
E. J.
As usual everything was well organised and the Play that goes wrong was hilarious
V. C.
Great theatre with all u need on every floor

Absolutely fabyoularse panto, amazing cast great night. Hi five's all round to all the staff front and back of house.
H. C.
A wonderful venue with a vibrant atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.
M. S. (. n. R.
The show was amazing but the thing that really let it down was the fact that there were no tables or chairs to sit in the bar area and the bar downstairs by the stalls entrance was closed!
M. V.
Saw Daniel and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat - very enjoyable.
P. T.
Great theatre.
Has the best Pantomime in the area.
We go every Christmas.
E. B.
Lovely classic venue, needs a bit of a lift
j. h.
Went to watch greese today meet Peter Andre at the stage door ' great guy .' A breath of fresh air in the show .GREAT SINGERS , DANCERS ' ALL ROUND ENTERTAINERS .A MUST SEE SHOW .

S. R.
Amazing night out. Old theatre with a great vibe. Sadly the chairs could be a bit bigger. Many stairs here and there but great night.
D. I.
Went to see Bat out of Hell adviced by booking agent to book stalls problem being my wife is in a wheelchair. Struggling to get down about 20 steps at street level is the circle, where we should have been. The staff in the theater were stars George and staff need a very big thank you.
L. H.
Great show.
E. J.
Seats are comfortable and even from right at the back you can get a reasonable view. Went to see Hairspray here and it did not disappoint. Staff are welcoming and helpful, and the architecture of the building itself is stunning (see photo). One problem I would say is that the half time ice cream is incredibly expensive - £3 for SMALL Haagen Das or £4.50 for large Haagen das. So you do need a bit of cash! Other than that, a great place with reasonably clean toilets and all in a beautiful building.
G. L.
Had a really good night watching Robbie tribute band
M. D.
Went Christmas eve and see aladdin it was very good and we laugh all the time .the opera house is lovely.
C. D.
Lovely theatre & great to see a theatre full again!
J. W.
another fab outing at The Opera House - we always have a great time. good to know that we can now take big bottles of 🥂 from the bar into the theatre 👍
M. P.
Lovely, not much room. Seats not enough room.
S. M.
There have been some changes from its original UK run, now adopting changes introduced during the US run. Scenes, stunts and songs removed. Shame, but still a wonderful musical
C. D.
Joseph really put on a great show from when I saw the second half
R. M.
Beautiful old opera house but surprisingly tiny (and really expensive) bar.
A. H.
Lovely staff who were very helpful, Theatre is beautiful
K. D.
A lovely venue with very friendly staff. My first time coming to this theatre and would definitely come again, loved the show!
C. G.
We went to see the Nutcracker and it was absolutely amazing, Iwerne definitely going again.

Absolutely Brilliant Show # Bat Out Of Hell "
A. F.
Enjoyed my show great place 😁
B. W.

P. H.
Great 👍show staff Great very helpful 👍
a. o.
A fantastic night out. Went to see Aladdin and it was brilliant, very very funny and entertaining.
M. E.
Bat out of hell show was amazing, but the theatre itself is very dated and could do with being modernised. There is very little space between the rows for people to get through when being seated
C. K.
Went to see bat out of hell here and everything was great. The staff ,the production and security were great.
Will be back for more shows later on this year.
M. S.
Had a lovely evening to see an audience with Stanley Tucci at the Opera House.
S. B.
Staff helpful, building has character and a fantastic show. I would have rated five, but £3.50 for a bag of chocolate buttons that are a pound in the supermarket seemed a bit steep to me.
D. M.
Went to see Joseph and his dreamcoat, lovely theatre
C. S.
Really enjoyed watching George Ezra at this lovely venue
M. T.
Show great. Would have been good if someone could have told my disabled daughter who was struggling with the stairs that there was another way to her seat all on the flat!
A. L.
Spacious beautiful venue, lovely staff, many bars and good views of the stage from all of the angles.
G. P. C.
Went to see Back to the Future the musical here. Performance was great, sets really well done.
The upper seating tier goes quite far forward. Recommend those seats if you’re looking anywhere past the middle on the ground floor. Inside can get hot during the break. During the performance they have air-con. You can get away with both a t-shirt or a jumper. I was there at the end of Feb, so summer might differ.
Only saw a small bar with bottled beer, didn’t see anything on tap. There might be any other bar inside somewhere else, I didn’t see one though.
The foyer gets very crowded, not much room to move. All the staff were polite and new what they were doing to keep people moving.

Lovely place, great atmosphere, nice and clean. Covid screening was in place, we needed the NHS covid pass to enter. There's no cash taken for drinks and snacks, it's all card payments.

Saw back to the future musical yesterday, amazing! Staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating, didn't have to wait long for the bar, venue was clean and didn't get too hot despite the number of people. Would give 5 stars but only mild complaints were the seating was pretty cramped and there wasn't enough (ladies) toilets - had to queue for a good while during the interval. Otherwise was fab and will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff!

Beautiful venue with lots of seating that has a good view of the stage. The food is a little overpriced as expected so for that the venue loses a star.
k. e.
Not the comfiest of seats, this pic is from row p in the stalls so the view is great. Drinks are reasonably priced.

Watching Aladdin. Great show, very funny and all the kids loved it. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous venue, the only thing that let's this beautiful establishment down is the cost of refreshments - a can of wine is £8 😂

Amazing to see live theatre again but sadly the aircon was switched off for covid reasons. It got uncomfortabley hot and people used fans and programs to cool down.
