Reviews of Blickling Hall
J. J.
A really nice day out with National Trust. The gardens are amazing and attended by a small army of dedicated volunteers who are doing wonders. It's great to see the gardens evolving. We walked up to the temple and then down the avenue, back to the house and you are rewarded by a magnificent view. The fountain is lovely to see. Cafés, shops and the wonderful charity bookshop add to the whole experience. You really could spend the whole day here. The location is stunning and there's even a pub next door if you fancy a pint! Definitely worth the trip.
A. G.
Excellent place to visit, so much history! The inside of the house is amazing. The walk around the gardens and lake is amazing... Then after your walk about just pop into the cafe for much deserved munch. Totally worth a visit... 🙂🍩
A. C.
Very impressive building. All open with lots to see. We got there early and did a walk around the grounds before the house opened. Plenty of parking available which is free for National Trust members.
The house and gardens are lovely and definitely worth a visit as there is so much to loom at. There is a short walk from the car park to the house which takes you past a lovely looking and busy (whilst we passed) public house. On entry to the gardens and house we were asked to show tickets which is good.
The house itself is massive and make sure you visit the kitchen before leaving.

One of the best national trust properties I have visited in a long time. One of the so called treasure houses which lives up to its name with an impressive collection of art and artifacts as well as impressive interiors and a huge library. The staff were all pleasant and very welcoming with Chuck on the front door being a true character and great to chat to
F.
Blickling Hall is lovely. Had a good walk round the grounds. Lots to see.
Went into House, very nice and we just walked round at our own pace. The Kitchen was interesting and lovely stained glass window in entrance hall. Parking was a more difficult than normal. As the coach park, was not block off. We got into the overflow car park, bit tight for our Motorhome. Worth a visit. The staff are fantastic and helpful.
R. J.
Absolutely amazing place! Nice house and estate for a walk or family picnic. There are 2 cafes: one by the entrance and another in the house. We hired bikes on-site (for a super good price!) and went for a very enjoyable bike ride.
C. W.
Really enjoyable day out. Blickling Hall is a beautiful building set in lovely grounds with walled garden, lake and lots of walks in the woods. Cafe near the Hall was good however in the National trust cafés (when you visit lots of properties) the selection of cakes & sandwiches etc are always the same. Cafe near car park not so good. There is a lovely pub nearby ( Buck arms) with good food which I'd totally recommend.
T. G.
I really enjoy going here to walk and admire the gardens. They often have special events happening as well as outdoor concerts during the summer. The house is amazing too! You will not be disappointed visiting this place, even walking around the area is beautiful with lots of wildlife to see.
J. C.
Yet another incredible historic building shared by the national Trust. Wow factor around every corner, incredible rooms, knowledgeable staff and fascinating history, we need to support and help protect these buildings. You need a day to enjoy this. Well run, clean and easily accessible.
O. G.
A beautiful national trust house with stunning grounds, incredible history and lots of extremely helpful and enthusiastic guides! The food in the cafe was wonderful and the shop was very sweet and well shocked.
The perfect location for my fiancé to propose and for me to say yes 😊 lots of hidden gems here, I would certainly recommend a visit x
E. K.
I've never been disappointed by any National Trust properties yet.
Blickling Hall is a great place to visit and spend a whole day here.
There's a 2nd hand book shop with plenty of choice.
Beautiful garden and walled garden
And the house with the history.
A Great day out...we just need to be lucky with the weather (and we were today- Easter Sunday 2022).
C. B.
One of the must-see National Trust properties. It's a great house and gardens saturated with history. There are also longer walks/cycle paths around the estate. I would recommend getting there early if you want a full day because the parking can get a little hectic. The food in the cafe was really nice and the staff/volunteers were very welcoming.
r. n.
A lovely country estate with lots of history. The house is a world of historic significance from Anne Bolyne to modern day. Lovely grounds for children and its also dog friendly. A recommended day or, but take change for the pay and display car park.
There is also a museum to the local RAF and an art gallery by local children.
T. J.
Very nice National Trust property with all of the usual historical interest, amenities for children and areas for walking and enjoying the outdoors. When we visited it was good weather and there was an array of sporty activities set out to be enjoyed on the lawn outside - great for children.
The hall itself is very impressive and beautiful both inside and out.
There is a cafe with the usual pasties/sandwiches and cakes as well as ice lollies. For proper freshly scooped ice cream cones, you need to go to the parlour just next to the entrance where you pay/show your membership card, near the car park.
J. B.
Lovely national trust property with plenty of outside space for walks. Cafe on site was reasonably priced with good vegetarian and vegan options. There is bike hire on site to enjoy the grounds at a faster pace.
J. F.
Visited after being to a concert the night before. So pleased we did, what a stunning house & gardens. Very disabled friendly, staff couldn't be more helpful (& knowledgeable). If you're ever in Norfolk make a beeline to it, you won't be disappointed.
A. N.
It's years since I've been to Blickling. Really enjoyed my latest visit. Helpful and informative room stewards who were happy to look up information to answer my questions. We also had a long walk in the park. I'd advise flat shoes with a good sole, as some of the paths in the park are quite rough and stoney.
C. H. P.
A 'must see' place in Norfolk, breathtaking views of the hall with interesting history inside. So much to see around the outside of the hall and lovely walks around the estate. Interesting huge walled garden.
C. L.
Loved this place.. we only walked the grounds & visited the dog friendly cafe area but the walk was gorgeous & the hall itself looked stunning from outside, would love to visit again one day without the dog so we could enjoy the hall & gardens.
L. B.
Had a rather wet walk today at Blickling but still enjoyed the beautiful bluebells. Lovely smell. We have visited the house many times such a great National trust property. Very dog friendly if under control.
M. D.
Fantastic house to visit, lots of rooms to see, plenty of information in every room. Gardens are unbelievable, so too the lake. Definitely worth the admission price, staff very knowledgeable and friendly.
D. “. L.
Another of English Heritage's wonderful buildings. Well kept house and gardens, must congratulate all staff for their hard work. Good facilities for able and less able, Cafe.
D. I.
Wonderful place, we took our bikes and had a really lovely ride around the grounds- very easy and not expensive to hire bikes there if needed. Stunning house and glorious gardens, they d even put out a load of games to be played on the lawns. Couldnt fault it.
K. S.
Really enjoyed Blickling Hall, it's lovely and several of the staff were dressed up and in character of various previous inhabitants of the Hall making it all very interesting. The grounds were pleasant to walk around and a good tea room. Really recommend a visit.
P. L.
We loved this place. Walked around the gardens for ages. Interesting to see the restoration in progress. Some really nice ways of growing fruit trees. Lots of Easter fun to be had for children. Really nicely laid out property. The volunteers were very knowledgable with lots of stories and no rivalry with Felbrigg down the road at all! The house was very interesting. Make it a game to look for as many bulls as possible.
A. H.
Visited on a very sunny day, late june.
House amazing, with lots of information available in each room.
Grounds are vast although we only wondered around the gardens, which were mostly very well manicured and looked lovely
Various places to grab a drink or bite to eat and prices good.
Lots of bits & pieces to purchase in the shops and when we visited there was an arts & crafts section which had some lovely pieces on sale
All in all, nice place to spend a few hours
M.
An enjoyable walk, nice place to eat lunch. Great place to take dogs. Unfortunately didn't get to experience the house or gardens (due to the dog) however it looks pleasing and well kept.
A. L.
A beautiful National Trust property, stunning garden & glorious far reaching views of the Norfolk countryside a truly fine Jacobean House.
Birthplace of Anne Boleyn & the home of Phillip Kerr, Marquess of Lothian who persuaded Sir Winston Churchill to write to President Roosevelt.
The Blickling estate was also a billet for Second World War RAF crew.
Upon his death in 1940, Phillip Kerr gifted the house & its surrounding acres to the National Trust ensuring its future for all.
E.
Welcoming, friendly staff on a hot day - in the tea shop, visitor information and at each site. Lots of warnings about wasps which was good to know with various family members being allergic! Very hot but great pausing places in the shade. Helpful signage and wonderful to visit.
P. B.
A very interesting National Trust building. Nice walk through the gardens even though the weather was not the best. If staying in the area worth a visit.
T. D.
Beautiful gardens and country house, stunning look back on our glorious history … in summer, winter, autumn or spring it is such a delight to see this place. Christmas lights and hot chocolate in the grounds sitting next to a log burner is a memory that will be cherished forever … that you National Trust
A. M.
Last night at Blickling hall we were given the most amazing evening event with their light show. From start to finish the lights dazzled, our young grandchildren didn't want to leave. It wasn't crowded which made it easy to move around, in places the ground was covered to make walking easier. The refreshments that were readily available were a bit pricey but not short on the amount we had. The timed tickets worked well giving you leisure to stop and admire what they have achieved, we spent 2 hours just wandering. This was worth every penny and would certainly recommend it.
D. A.
A lovely day for a visit. Pay and display carpark £5 all day. Lovely gardens lots of spring daffodils. I would imagine will look gorgeous when all the magnolias flower 🌸
J. W.
Just visiting for a walk. Beautifully kept and extensive grounds containing cattle, flora and fauna with the odd folly to take in too. Easily navigable pathways which are well signposted too, makes this a go-to place for a stroll or more serious walk (in a flat Norfolk sense!). If planned right, you can start from a very well maintained car park (some odd charging rates mind) and end up here close to an award winning pub…which also sells tea and coffee for those drivers out there.
Just watch out for dogs off leads (why people?) there are signs everywhere asking for dogs to be on leads but as ever the great unwashed know best! Get here and enjoy in all weathers.
A. T.
Impressive & Characterful property with extensive grounds to walk and enjoy, beautiful views of the lake best enjoyed from the gardens. We've visited other historic houses that had more charm than Blickling and were better presented, but nevertheless there were some fascinating points of interest such as the enormously long library room, and the huge fireplace in the main lounge. My only minor grumble would be that the signposting in & around the house was confusing & inadequate which made seeing everything more tiresome than it should have been. The highlight for us was the excellent RAF Oulton museum up on the 1st floor (included in entry price), this was full of poignant and evocative displays of all the personnel who were stationed here during WWII. The 2 cafes on site served from a small but excellent quality menu, all-in-all a very good day out.
L. J.
Beautiful grounds, spent the day here. Kids loved running about. Staff helpful and knowledged, sharing a piece of the history. Got around with the buggy which is a plus. Lifts inside Brickling house for those needing step free access. We'll kept and looked after.
J.
Lovely grounds, free pkg to NT members. Hire of e-bikes from friendly staff (£12 for two hrs) from the end of Blickling car park (other types available); gravel paths through shaded parkland, undulating at times. 9k route with various 3k other routes. Spacious grounds..children & adults playing with free lawn type games. Deckchairs and seating at various spots, we sat overlooking the tranquil lake. it was very relaxing 😌
A lovely coffee shop to the right of the house entrance & art work upstairs was specisl with locally crafted items. We bought hand turned wood items which were beautiful. Nice staff all round from reception to cafe, bike hire people and the gent we met when we took a wrong turn and ended near waste disposal.
A lovely day, allow 6hrs if hiring bikes.
G. H.
Lovely Jacobean mansion. Nice gardens and fine old trees. As usual with the NT good coffee and cakes. Ample opportunity to take pictures.
R. F.
Old country pile in fantastic condition. Great gardens and gardeners that didn't mind answering questions about the plants. Well worth a visit
J. G.
The Hall itself is stunning in many parts and well worth a visit. Beautiful grounds which would have been better had it not been for the long hot Summer we've endured this year ('22). Plenty of walks available through the grounds around the lake, through the woods and gardens, with seating to rest and take in the scenary.
T. B.
This is a great day out. There's a lot to see, both outside and inside. I particularly enjoyed the small Norwich Printing Museum which currently lives here. We got a short personal tour of the museum by one of the guides. There are several walking trails including accessible trails. The house has some real surprises. Highly recommended!
N. W. P.
Blickling is an estate and a house, not a house and an estate. The area around the house is also mainly National Trust and as part of the gift to the country is maintained as you would expect.
If you are a member of the National Trust parking is free, if not parking must be paid. The area outside of the main car park is public however. The house is an impressive piece of architecture and deserves to be seen.
C. W.
We are so lucky to live locally to Blickling, allowing us to visit with ease. This year the walk has been extended giving you much more to view, beautiful as always, staff so very helpful, mulled wine, mince pies! Fire pits to! What more could you ask for. Thank you all involved for giving us the opportunity to visit you in our festive season.
z. s.
Lovely day out walking home around he grounds and then visiting the Hall itself. Steeped in history and lots of interesting art work. Great cafe gift shop and things for children to take part in to keep them entertained.
M. F.
Wonderful trip out. House itself is stunning, brick built full of interest from inside and out. Not a huge number of rooms to view inside but some simply stunning (library). Gardens/grounds beautiful even though it was November when we visited and afforded lovely views of the house from all sides. Wonderful vistas revealed throughout and some lovely old trees. All put together with interesting history well told and nice food and drinks in the cafe. Could not want for more.
a. m.
We were very excited to arrive and we were met by a helpful person at the gate. The fairy light walk to the entrance was beautiful and the tunnel of lights was an exciting start, but after that there wasn't much else!
There were no signs indicating a route so you amble around, come to a dead end and then wonder back again wondering if you've missed something!
The shop was nice and the pizza truck was a nice touch, reasonably priced and tasty.
The house looks lovely lit up and it isn't too expensive to visit the lights but I think they could include some more themed lights or some music and charge a bit more for a true Christmas experience.
T. S.
We went for the light show. It was very beautiful but I worry about the carbon footprint. Did not see an environment impact statement from NT whilst I was there. Works be good to be reassured about how they can burn so much electricity frivolously.
H. B.
Beautiful grounds and home, most staff were quite abrupt and unfriendly but maybe we weren't posh enough 🤭
Ice cream was lovely but then so it should be for £7.50 for two!
Y. W.
Lovely Jacobean house & gardens. Choice of 2 cafes to get refreshments. Plenty of possible walks to go on around the gardens & surrounding estate. Well worth a visit.
D. S.
Really interesting visit with very helpful volunteer guides. The house and building was really well kept and paintings beautiful. The gardens are stunning and well kept.
M. H.
Had a lovely day at Blickling Hall. We like walking and took the longest route we cold do, going around the outskirts of the estate jumping from one colour route to the next. At one point we thought we were going to far out but in fact it is that big. If your unsure whether your going the right way if now and again you see coloured arrows I.E red, black or blue arrows on posts you are still on the right track. After the walk we looked through the gardens, then into the shop. Toilets in same area. Then to the house. What a lovely place grand rooms you can imagine looking back in time how people lived. You can take dogs but not in the house and not in the main gardens. Prices on website and free entry for national trust members.
P. C.
This has to be one of the most beautiful, fascinating national trust venues we have had pleasure of visiting. Will return next week - did not cover tip of iceberg.
M. H.
Well worth visiting. Fabulous how you can see so much history.
Imo it well worth joining the National Trust as you don't have visit many places to cover the cost.
B. F.
A very enjoyable day out, the house was a good look around lots of old masters to look at and the grounds were lovely. Very interesting too.
G. W.
Stunning building, packed with history, art, and stories.
Stunning gardens, woodlands, out buildings, vegetable gardens, ideal for a peaceful stroll.
Cafe is excellent, plenty of seating space.
The shop has lots of variety, split across three sections.
R. P.
Fantastic house and grounds. You could spend all day and not see everything.
Food and drink at the cafe were good, big second hand bookshop (No bargains though).
Some of the gravel paths are a bit tricky for wheelchairs. Staff helpful in house and lift for those who need it.
All staff I met were the grounds were enthusiastic and friendly.
A.
The experience was great! The grass and gardens were lovely and had a great time playing football good to visit on the weekend we payed and walked right through there wasn't a queue
h. o.
A beautiful Jacobean Stately Home with lots of history and one of the most important Libraries in England .
Once this place was home not only to Sir John Fastolf of Caister aka Falstaff from Shakespeares plays but also the Boleyn family . Said to be the birthplace of Anne Boleyn in 1507 . The current building was built by Sir Henry Hobart in the reign of James 1 .
Architect Robert Lyminge is credited to be the designer he also designed Hatfield House . Sir Hobart was Chief Justice of the Common Pleas ,Attorney General and all round hot shot in the reigns of James 1 and Charles 1 .
During WW11 the estate was requisitioned and used as an officers mess for RAF Oulton . They also have their very own Doric Temple at the end of the garden as you do .
Whenever I visit it always reminds me of Hampton Court . The staff are very nice and welcoming .
As you would expect there are lots of paintings to see of very important looking people . A rather posh Dining room and quite a few tapestries . There is a very impressive one of Peter the Great .
I find it a bit strange that it doesn't have its own Chapel as the good and the great seemed to like these , unless I missed it . But there is a very nice Church next door .
Well worth a visit just for the splendid gardens surrounding it your day won't be wasted and I am sure will be enjoyed here .
S. W.
Visited while on holiday, beautiful grounds and interesting house to look round, and air museum and old printing room, couldn't walk all of it as need more time☺️👍
R. W.
Lovely architecture and grounds. I didn't look inside the house although I could have. The most irritating thing was to be charged £5 for parking on top of £14 per person entry - other than that we really enjoyed our visit
M. C.
Not the best of NT houses I've been in. I know about the issues of conservation but the place seemed so dark it was difficult to see the exhibits. Very little of the house was open and there wasn't much information on the rooms you went in. Not sure if there is a lack of voluntary help but the par tarre garden needed some work to make it look it's best. The walled garden, still under construction, was possibly the best part of the visit, the mix of ornamental and veg works well.
S. G.
Wow, grounds beautiful, house amazing. Restaurant lovely - food fantastic. Great bookshop as well. All staff very helpful, enthusiastic and informative. A lovely day
C. A.
A really interesting house and well worth a visit. However the entrance is quite a walk from the car park, or it felt like it on a hot day!
G. S.
Absolutely stunning. Loved the history including the Boleyn family, which I had no idea about. Both the house and gardens were really well kept. The whole place is gorgeous. The bookshop is well worth a visit too - absolutely massive with tons of second hand books available for next to nothing!
D. B.
Lovely afternoon here, gardens under development, so not at best, very nice tour of house.
D. D.
Great Place for all! Parkland, walks, RAF museum, printing museum plus gardens, lake and a fantastic hall full of history. One visit is not enough to do it justice!
R. J.
Very nice atmosphere! The staff were really nice and helpful throughout the visit. Has a very nice walks fir digs in the woods. The cafe has amazing food and the staff are very kind. The house is great to look around, giving detailed information about all the rooms. The gardens are well looked after and the flowers look delightful and colourful in the summer. A great day to go and spend with the whole family.
j. g.
We go here a lot one of the best national trust properties in the UK. Lots of lovely walks too .
D. W.
Excellent day out, lots of walks with the Dog but she was not allowed in formal gardens and part of lake walk closed due an issue witha tree. See website....
A. 2.
It's a beautiful property with extensive grounds however one small problem remains, The entry stickers they fall off your clothing and then the staff will challenge you to prove you're a member or have paid.
R. W.
Lovely place to visit. House has great history. The gardens are Epic. Car parking cost £5.00 all day. Parking is disabled friendly but no such for the house or gardens due to many steps. Bit pricy if not a National Trust member. But still worth it.
*. Z.
An absolutely fabulous place to visit. Great house with outstanding library and a beautiful park and lake.
A. T.
Impressive display of Bluebells in the Great Wood. If you're not able to manage the walk from the Hall take the 1st right from the main car park and 1st right again on the Itteringham Road
W. K.
Really stunning property and grounds. Good cafe (service rather slow), shop and plant sales. Room guides really know their stuff.
D. T.
Excellent place to visit for the house and gardens, and country walks, well set up. Pub adjacent to house/grounds.
R. J.
A french château managed by the National Trust just half an hour north of Norwich. The house and the gardens work in different hours, so check it out before going there.
L. p.
Lovely place for the family. Great house to visit and lovely grounds/forest to explore. Would definitely recommend for all the family. Great day out.
M. S.
Looks and is stunning and nice walk around the park land, would visit again 😀
V. S.
Decided to visit while staying in Norfolk. Beautiful house and gorgeous gardens.
H. W.
What a wonderful house to visit. The highlight being the Long Gallery library. In the immediate area, the Walled Garden is full of fruit, vegetables and flowers. The formal gardens are beautifully laid out, discover the Temple, Dell and Orangery. Our next visit hope to explore the wider estate.
L. L.
Favorite trust place to visit. Always drawn here and visit every year. Beautiful house and grounds. Memorable. Staff are fantastic and so welcoming. Lovely little tea rooms, shop and bookshop. Nice pub just outside the grounds by the car park which does a lovely roast dinner.
K. G.
A great National Trust site to visit. Coffee shops, toilet facilities and long walks around the gardens, grounds and park are very relaxing.
D. W.
The gardens are beautifully maintained and the spectacular house full of amazing things. The staff and volunteers are to be congratulated!
M. M. (.
Fantastic house! Nice and huge estate where to walk with your dog, also off lead in some points. There is a lake.
c. b.
Very enjoyable, staff were very helpful and polite, lovely place to visit and walk round, cafe very clean and welcoming.
J. B.
Always a pleasure to visit Blickling. Lots of interesting history in the house. Grounds are extensive with excellent walks. Highly recommended.
b. m.
Went to Blickling for the easter trail! 10 clues and small.tasks to do my 8 year old enjoyed it especially the easter egg at the end!! Reccommend taking a picnic food is a bit pricy!
Hiring bikes is easy!! The staff are so friendly and helpful! You get the bikes for 2 hours adults £5 children £4.50. They have bikes all sizes, trailors balance bikes!!!
e. s.
minus 1 star for some mean room volunteers, feeling the need to comment on things they weren’t asked
otherwise beautiful gardens and house,, muddy boots cafe was lovely and fast service
M. R.
Lovely old place full of walks and secret gardens, nooks and crannies and of course a tea Room for cake and scones. Some splendid gardens and landmarks make this a full day out. Recommend trying to make it to the mausoleum and try out the reverb from the openings in the side
M. A.
Lovely grounds. But house shut when arrived but café and shop open. But didn't go into cafe as due to close. Would have rated higher but can't really comment on whole experience
2.
This is a beautiful property, with amazing history and awesome library! Both my partner and I loved our visit here. Unfortunately we didn't arrive early enough to walk around the stunning land outside. We will definitely be going back, and earlier next time. We did have chance to sit down on deckchairs, (provided) by the lake and eat our late lunch.
l. u.
Beautiful house, gardens and land around. The national trust have done their bit by signposting, creating maps and providing lovely gift shop, cafe and toilets. Sadly on the day of our visit there wasn't enough volunteers to open the downstairs rooms, so we missed out a bit. The children's games in the garden by the lake made up for it though. We had a lovely family day out.
i. p.
Lovely house and dog friendly garden, great day out.
R. W.
Went to see the Christmas lights in the Hall Gardens and they were fantastic. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. As always it is a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year as it changes with the seasons. The National Trust needs to be supported to keep these treasures open for future generations to enjoy. Many thanks.
P. W.
Interesting place with a fascinating history. Beautiful grounds to explore too. Gardens were great.
J. D.
Interesting house and gardens. Walled garden was work in progress on our visit and the dry weather recently seems to have taken a toll on the show of the other formal gardens. Kids loved the tennis set up on the lawn too. Easy to park and enjoyed our visit the occupied us for several hours.
N. T.
Had a great couple of hours wondering around the gardens at Blickling today. Well organized parking and facilities. Didn't seem at all busy for a bank holiday weekend.
Lots of great trails suitable for families with young children and disabled in wheel chairs alike.
C. J.
Just spent a lovely day visiting Blickling Hall. Really interesting house. Enjoyed looking for stuffed bulls (for the children's half term) around the house. Had a good hot lunch in the farmyard cafe but could easily have had dinner at the pub next to the grounds. Although we've entered autumn the dahlias were looking vibrant in all there different colours. Plenty to see and lots of good walks. Would definitely visit again.
M. J.
Enjoyed the house
Lovely formal garden. Had to use the overflow parking but still found a place. Would have liked to explore grounds but too hot. Would have loved to see R.A.F. exhibit, but as usual it was not open on day of my visit. Story of my life when I'm on holiday !
C. W.
A lovely day out, the grounds are very well kept and the toilets were clean. Was a bit late to have a cuppa but as always National Trust keeping it a very pleasant experience.
J.
Really enjoyed our visit. The house is great, staff in most rooms all will to chat and answer questions. Cafe, restaurant and gift shop all good.
j. b.
Lovely hall set on lovely grounds, great day out
C. C.
A small garden but plenty to see and it changes with the seasons. Lovely house to walk round. The restaurant is great with friendly staff and there is also a cafe. You can also walk round the lake on a dog friendly walk.
A. S.
Great national trust house. Very interesting to wander through the house. The grounds are lovely. Theres a walk of about 2 miles round the lake and back of the house which is lovely. A few benches dotted around if you need a break. Cafes serve decent food and places to sit in and outside.
D. H.
Beautiful Jacobean property. Many paintings and large book collection. Two cafes to choose from.
R. G.
Lovely architecture and house. Nice garden.
J. B.
Great outing for families. Plenty of parking, available toilets and cafes. Activities in the gardens during school holidays which worked really well for our preschoolers today... Main issue today was I couldn't get the double buggy near the main toilets or into the cafe (it usually does get through most doorways when we're out so this was a shame and could potentially be an issue for wheelchair users too!) But overall we had a fun day outdoors
D. P.
Very interesting, great walks round the grounds too
A. C.
Another good day at Blickling hall, the views and the different walks around the estate are good taking in some woodland walk's, fields and a lake. The house is interesting and the garden's are beautiful. If you can go at different times in the year you can enjoy the seasonal smells and flowers. The only downside is the wait to enjoy a coffee the queue didn't move very fast, but it did not stop us from enjoying our time there.
D. A.
Blickling is a beautiful country house ... knowledgeable National Trust volunteers in the rooms. Well maintained gardens too. Lovely afternoon tea in the Stables restaurant. Fabulous second hand bookshop. Highly recommend a visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit it was a sunny day and you could walk round the lake. The house was amazing would certainly recommend a visit. A bit of a wait in the Cafe but the food was lovely and very tasty.
M. W.
Wow what a fantastic house and all original features and furniture. Fabulous decor and the ceiling are unbelievable.
Great garden,s too. You will not be disappointed and will enjoy your visit .
A. S.
First time here didn't do the gardens ran out of time. Volunteers really informative. And there is a lift for people who can't do stairs. And have mobility scooters which we didn't know about. Anyway we will return to visit the gardens. Did the walled garden. Nice pub near by as well. Buckingham inn
V. V.
Visited it in rainy autumn 🍂 day, lake walk was awesome though it was bit muddy in some patches.
M. O.
Excellent experience manicured gardens scrumptious tea rooms and totally enjoyable house
Update: I have started volunteering at Blickling hall and its one of the most satisfying things I have ever undertaken I absolutely love the house and its history everyone who visits has a reason to come in and love the interaction with them, plaese visit a National trust property to keep our heritage and memories alive for our future generations to come 😀 Happy Christmas to every one of you and a prosperous New Year Micky
L. B.
Lovely day out, gardens are beautiful, fantastic hall with lots to see. Cafe had an excellent selection of tasty treats including sandwiches, cakes, scones, rolls, tea and coffee. Staff really helpful, polite service too
E. J. D.
I think there is something for everyone here. Long walks for the more energetic with excellent views from the carousel. Plenty of places for the children to play safely. Good selection of food & drink. Excellent day out.
R. A.
Nice place to visit with house, garden and woodland to explore. Only criticism is that to gain access to the parkland and lake it was necessary to go back out of the main entrance and go all the way round to the back. A gate from the garden would have been ideal especially for those of us that are of a certain age.
S. K.
One of my favourite places. Lovely gardens, house and food (which always have a few gluten free options). It's also a fantastic place to go for a long walk or bike ride.
S. W.
Excellent. The lights were atmospheric and beautifully placed. We can highly recommend a visit this December.
B. L.
Lovely walk, beautiful house with some lovely rooms
S. R.
Great house and gardens and a great walks.
B. S.
A lovely well preserved manor house with interesting features. The grounds were extensive and well maintained. The lake was blocked off so you couldn't walk around it.
T. K.
Well organised, with lots to see and do.
We went in December and were greeted by ‘resident Lord L’ who hoped we would enjoy the Christmas decorations and meeting some of his staff. The re-enactments were gentle and fun, the decorations beautiful.
The two of us had lovely sausage rolls and coffee for about £15, the cafe had plenty of space and we enjoyed the shop and Christmas gifts in the Loft Gallery.
Everything closed at 2pm to allow the staff to get ready for the ticketed light show event at 4pm.
We followed the red route walk to see the Mausoleum and paths were easy if wet. Having decided to walk round the lake, we were not prepared for the muddy unmade paths that then led all round the outside of the house and gardens. This wasn’t great for my husband who was suffering from a swollen and painful knee. The grounds were worth the effort though.
We didn’t see deer this time so will have to go back one day!
J. R.
A fabulous place to take all the family and learn about the history that surrounds this magnificent house.
J. L.
Superb setting, magnificent building, with exquisite furniture and decor. Outstanding tapestries, some lovely paintings, extraordinary plaster in the long gallery. Love seeing vignettes about staff and how their descendants work there still. Too little time to enjoy the grounds, alas
J. S.
Fabulous. Such history. Good cafe and shops. Lovely gardens.
T. B.
Have enjoyed visiting here before so when National Trust ran their Autumn Campaign offering a free family ticket to use at any of their venues, we chose Blickling. A fascinating place brought to life by really enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers as well as info cards in each room of the house. Great gardens and really interesting to see the garden team carrying out their seasonal maintenance - fascinating. The RAF museum upstairs is a great little snapshot of WW2 pilots barracks and the chap running it was full of knowledge and info - the original paint on the walls and the outline of the dartboard they used were really atmospheric. A great day out!
J. C.
My 2 grandchildren enjoyed cycling with their Father around the grounds, then joined us for lunch in the courtyard followed by some excellent games provided by staff. We went inside the hall and the children (aged 6 and 8 years) even enjoyed it. Brilliant day out for 6 to 60 year olds.
N. M.
Blickling Hall was closed for some refurbishment. The shop, cafe and gardens were open. Unfortunately the signage and available routes are unhelpful and confusing. This needs to be sorted.
M.
Just love this place...its our goto option for an afternoon out... Walked the lake this time as it was such a lovely day then stopped at the café for a pasty n pot of tea...yum
M. G.
A very restful place with ready to use deckchairs set out in pairs close to the lake edge. Help yourself to eating apples straight from the trees in season. Convenient free parking for members from printing meters by placement of membership card.
C. R.
Visited this National trust property, it was very interesting, the gardens were lovely and food was available, some nice souvenir shops. I would like to revisit during their Christmas light show when the house would have been decorated.
L. p.
Joined the National Trust a month ago and this is the first place we went to visit. Amazing building with so many painting and furniture still in it. We will go back soon to explore also the countryside.
C. H.
What a great place. Loved our visit to parkland, walled garden and house itself. Helpful and well informed volunteers. Good cafe, shop and excellent second hand bookshop as well. A great day out.
J. M.
The Christmas lights walk was lovely but once back at the hall, although there were Christmas stalls and food stalls it just lacked a bit of Christmas atmosphere. There was no festive music or interaction for the children at all and we felt for the price a hot chocolate for the adults and a gingerbread man for the children should've been included in with your ticket.
L. J.
Amazing building and stunning garden. Plenty of parking available. Interesting sea henge exhibition and RAF museum . Friendly and helpful staff and guides. Highly recommend a visit if you in the area
P. A.
This is a magnificent stately home with large grounds.
J. C.
Beautiful Grounds to walk around with family and very dog friendly. Car park is £5 for the day regardless of how long you are there. Not sure about how much it is to get in the actual Blickling Hall. Cafe open too. Not many bins to put rubbish or doggy bags so please please don't be one of those people that leave them on the path for others to pick up.
B. D.
Most enjoyable visit to the house and the gardens. Also had a lovely 6.5 mile walk
M. C.
Always a favourite of all the family, beautiful building steeped in history. Wonderful grounds to walk in and activities for children to take part. Good restaurant and excellent 2nd hand book shop
M. C.
.. the printing museum .....wow the old boy that walked us round was great, knowledgeable
The gardens looked great 👍👍👍
M. M.
Don't get me wrong, we love Blickling Hall & visit often.....we were disappointed on this particular day though, as we arranged to meet family there & take the grandchildren out. We had been informed there were plenty of kiddies activities too....but there was nothing. Also a serious word of warning. It is no place to take a dog...particularly on a hot day, they are, perhaps understandably, not allowed in house or gardens, only the outer grounds.....buy there is very little shelter & no water for them (luckily we brought some) we were allowed in the cafe grounds (at the main house) but there was a serious wasp problem....exacerbated by the fact that the tables hadn't been wiped down & were sticky & thus attracting them....it was neither safe or comfortable sitting there & getting a much needed drink or ice cream was out of the question as would have made it much worse....the other cafe by carpark was better as we were allowed inside.
R. B. S. B.
Lots of open space and beautiful grounds. Kids trail is a bit naff and it's a shame there isn't a playground, but the activities in the Acre today were good fun.
B. D.
We did our Easter Egg Hunt here and my children had a wonderful time. Lots to see and do, with fantastic views. Social distancing was easy. It was very clean with lovely picnic areas pretty much everywhere. All staff were super friendly and helpful. The only thing that stopped it being 5 star was that I paid £30 for a family of four to go, then when I arrived it's £5 parking, no matter how long you stay for (an hour or 6 hours) then I had to pay another £6 to do the Easter trail. So it became quite pricey, quite quickly, that's without buying from the café and the 2 hour travel in fuel (one way!).
S. B.
Lovely day out at a fantastic Jacobean House. Lots to see and beautiful grounds to walk in
G. F.
A beautiful house and extensive estate. The place has an intriguing history. We particularly enjoyed the short performance played by volunteers revealing some past events and hauntings!
G. H.
The House was choc full of fantastic antique furniture and paintings. The buildings are superb. The Grounds and extensive many good walks and gardens.
L. K.
Very motivated Stuff … lovely Stories… clear information & background… thank you for your time.
J. W.
Stopped here for a coffee (which was fine), a look at the buildings and museum (no non - help dogs allowed) and a walk round the lake.
Not a lot of signage telling you to start walking from the car park as part of Lake walk closed so gave up. Also RAF walk on estate map but no sign of it anywhere. Bit frustrating and disappointing
H. G.
A very attractive property to explore. It has a coffee shop that sells light refreshments and scones sausage rolls and such. Good parking facilities. There's a nearby bar and restaurant you'll find en route.
S. E.
Such a Hot Day.... But Blickling Hall was shining.... The Hall is lovely, and the volunteers are great. The RAF museum in the grounds are also lovely and personal to the building. Also found a book there with my Grampa in it !! ☀️❤️
A. A.
Beautiful house, gardens and park. Place to relax and have a picnic.
M. A.
A stunning house. Beautiful gardens. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Go here. Fabulous stories behind this amazing place
C. K.
Great buildings and gardens. Lovely architecture. Repeat visit for me after 53years...its still the same. Walks in the woodland, lakes, a huge corgi, what more do you need?
A. T. (.
Lovely gardens and walkways around the estate.
Now no Covid restrictions so no one-way system in place anymore.
i. b.
Really pretty, very friendly staff and wonderful gardens to walk round. Very disabled friendly and even have free mobility scooters to borrow.
Well worth a visit.
L. C.
Absolutely brilliant place for a day out, even on a wet day. Lots to do-walks in park, RAF Oulton museum, print museum, lovely grand house to look around, gift shop and couple of cafes and a pub to eat/drink at. The volunteers are very knowledgeable also, which adds to the experience. The only reasons for not giving 5 stars are: 1)car park charge (I know the National Trust do this but £5 is extortionate, considering you also pay a hefty entrance fee-perhaps only charge those who are not paying to do the main attraction or lower it a bit?) 2)There is not great signage from the car park to the hall/café etc-perhaps put up more chalkboards?
T. S.
Beautiful property with amazing gardens.
J. W.
Pre-booked a spot to look at the gardens and the process was well managed with plenty of helpful volunteers. Gardens are well maintained and a free map is provided.
R. C.
An outstanding place to go the house fabulous and the gardens delight to walk around had a great day.
N. H.
Car parking easy. A bit of a walk but worth it. Fantastic place, loads of informative staff and helpers. Clean facilities, nice coffee shop.
P. R.
Beautiful house and gardens spoilt only by our ridiculous 40 degree heatwave which has temporarily killed off the grass
L. D.
This is my absolute favourite national trust property! Lovely house to walk around with lots of history to soak in, beautiful well kept gardens, a lake walk which takes you around the grounds, and a long woodland walk which which allows you to soak up the Norfolk views! Definitely recommend visiting 😍
S. D.
Such a delightful way to spend a few hours on a day off work. Gardens House and staff all lovely. Go it's worth the drive.
B. R.
A really fascinating house. Nice lawn games. Great lake walk but the formal gardens were very poor.
C. G.
Beautifully kept house and grounds. Staff and volunteers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Good facilities. Sensiblely priced. Tea room also worth a visit.
M. S.
Loved it, probaly the best kept walked garden i've ever visited at a NT property.
Didn't visit the house (to hot) but the RAF Museum is definitley worth a visit.
Plenty of walks around the wider estate.
D. C.
A magical place: the first thing we saw on entering the wonderful house, was a fabulous portrait of Henry VIII by Holbein, very unexpected! Great volunteers made the place come alive. Outdoors was equally gorgeous and sumptuous. We took the lakeside walk and were enchanted by the trees and the views: my husband's tiny mobility scooter got him round without mishap. Such a great day out.
S. G.
Stunning day out.
Enjoy the walks around the building, lake and pub at the end.
Staff and volunteers were super friendly.
A.
This is a National Trust property where you need to be a member to visit the house etc. Lovely cafe and outdoor eating area, great gift shop and second hand book shop. Plenty of parking.
E. M.
We live nearby and visit at least one a month, the gardens are great and there's always another route to take through the big woods to keep things fresh.
a. h.
Beautiful trust property and grounds. Highly recommended to stroll and view the building from outside if you can’t stretch to be a member or pay in.
M. C.
Went to Christmas lights tonight. They were amazing and well worth the £14 entrance fee.
C. G.
Beautiful property and grounds, which were looking very autumnal. You have to queue for entry to the house due to social distancing measures and only the top floor was open. It was a one way route which was a bit difficult if the people in front of you wanted to spend ages in each room but everyone was very patient. A few more signs around the estate would help visitors to navigate as we noticed a few others looking as confused as we were at times. But overall we spent a very enjoyable few hours here.
J. g.
Nice walks and even doggie ice cream 🍦
J. L.
Blickling Hall is lovely. Long walks and stunning scenary. The house and gardens are beautifully kept. Would highly recommend a visit.
D. J. I.
The staff are really friendly here and made the whole experience lovely. Plenty of exciting walks, history, shops and ice-cream! 👍💪🍦🍦
H. D.
A beautiful place to visit with stunning gardens and surrounding walks . All level access and lift that enabled a wheelchair to all the house . Staff welcoming and helpful .
K. S.
Fantastic property, beautifully maintained, with wonderful and friendly staff. Each room gives some thing new and is a gem in its own right.
Can’t wait to come back during the summer and fully enjoy the gardens. This is definitely a spot where you could while away an entire day.
S. R.
Enjoyed the cycle route. And a very nice place to visit
T. W.
Very interesting place well looked after by the national trust
K. A.
Lovely National Trust property with gardens, lake and house.
The house is currently closed due to Covid-19 but the grounds and café are open.
We are NT members so our entry costs are covered as part of our annual subscription, but it's a very pretty area, and when we visit Blickling, we always have a walk around the lake!
A. B.
I am an NT member and this was my first visit. Good SatNav directions but watch for the signs to the car park as Google Maps takes you directly to the estate entrance.
Got there around 1100 as it opens 1030 on a Sunday. All I will say is you will need more than one visit to enjoy everything!!
Had a guided tour around the formal garden. Francis was exceptionally good. Very very knowledgeable about all aspects of it's layout and contents.
Had beverages and cake in the cafe. Again high quality at reasonable prices.
Did not have time to see the interior of the hall or walk round the estate. Save those for another time!! Having said that the formal garden changes week by week as the plants and shrubs grow so will need to be revisited also!!
W. H.
Fabulous afternoon, beautiful house and formal gardens steeped in history. Lake walk recommended after or before.
A. D.
A beautiful spot for a walk and a picnic. If you have trouble paying for parking at the machine you can pay at the muddy boots cafe. Staff lovely.
T. C. G.
Love the gardens, so beautiful. Well done to all concerned it is well worth a visit if you are in the Cromer/Norwich area.
P. R.
What a great place to visit, house was superb with very knowledgeable guides. We also throughly enjoyed the garden. You do have to avoid goose dropping, particularly around the lake ;)
C. H.
Beautiful house and gardens with lots to explore - my only criticism would be that there isn't much to take around the house to engage children; but with all that outside space who really cares?? A few different cafe's to pick from, a nice play area, lovely gardens. Definitely worth the drive!
J. S.
Beautiful estate, definitely worth the visit. The house of beautiful and the staff inside are very friendly and knowledgeable. The gardens are stunning and perfect for spending the day walking around and exploring secret spots. The walking trails to the mausoleum and tower aren't very well marked, however the grounds are lovely to walk around until you find yourself back on the right path.
J. P.
Good walk around the grounds with all the Christmas lighting. Pity that one of the refreshment stalls was very expensive. Plenty of parking.
P. L.
Very nice we like this place.but it was packed yesterday and had to park in the second overflow carpark.grass was long and wet.it was a lovely warm day walled garden was very good.we had a lovely wallet some really nice people who were on holiday from Croydon.we didn't go it to house this time.
S. T.
Went to see the house lit up for Christmas. Loved the Walk way leading to the main house lined with Christmas trees. The house was beautifully decorated and the walks around well worth it, if you enjoy walking around. The little secondhand book store is worth a visit, especially if you want children's books. Cute little garden center/shop selling some plants seen on the estate.
K. E.
We only had a walk around the lake and in the garden. It was nice and the flowers were beautiful. I can strongly recommend it.
O. B.
It's a big old house with gardens and a lake and stuff. Nice place to go for a walk and eat your packed lunch (take your rubbish home people, don't be litterbugs). National trust members can go free, but make sure you book in advance as they are limiting numbers due to the C19 issue
A. N.
Blickling Estate, Norfolk, is another stunning stately home and gardens management by National Trust. This Estate is big and is worthy of a days or half days visit. There are nice walks and gardens in this estate. There is a good car park with pay and display facilities. For National Trust members the parking is free of charge.
P. “. B.
We visited this estate in February just as the spring flowers were beginning to bloom. Unfortunately some of the paths were closed but the remainder were well worth the walk. We intend to return later in the year when the days are longer to tour the house & gardens. What a lovely estate!
L. S.
Absolutely stunning grounds, very well maintained and no photo will ever do it justice - just don't be stung in the car park! Parking is £5 for non-members and the machines will only take change (not notes or card like some can).
M. F.
An interesting place looks to see.
A. Y.
Blickling Hall and the estate is in many respects, the quintessential British setting. It has history and parkland that demonstrate the wealth that the land generated.
The Hall is well worth a visit, as is the walk around the parkland. The mausoleum is plan but very symbolic of the idea of a monument.
The secondhand book store is worth a visit on it's own.
S. S. M.
Enjoyed both the house and the grounds unfortunately every body else had also decide to visit when I did and parking was a slight problem but day on the whole was good.
J. B.
December visit to Blickling Hall
Three stars for this visit on this occasion. The restaurant was most disappointing. I ordered hot chocolate and the first cup I got was barely warm. It was swiftly put right for me but even then the drink was not really warm enough. The first table I went to sit at was very dirty (despite there being plenty of staff around and the restaurant was not busy). I then went around the house. I have to say this is a beautiful house in a magnificent setting. Unfortunately because of a pulled muscle I was unable to do any walks in the grounds which I I'm sure are beautiful. This was, as the heading says, a December visit which means the house was dressed for Christmas. I was most disappointed with my visit to the house because there were no explanatory notes anywhere. There was no indication about which room I was in; what was on display and very little information about the history of the property. my reaction to visiting this property was that it was the worst National Trust property I have visited and certainly the worst restaurant.
D. E.
Blickling Estate is a lovely estate tucked away in the heart of Norfolk countryside. Surrounded by fields and wildlife. It's a National Trust site, with plenty of staff on hand to help and advise. We went for a bike ride around the estate and lake, it was a bit bumpy and off the beaten track in places, but there are some well maintained paths. Views are amazing, you'll want to stop and take plenty of photographs! When we reached the lake it was peaceful and still, we sat on one of many benches and listened to the birds singing. Lots of walking opportunities, dogs are welcome but must be on a lead because of wondering sheep and cattle. The views of the house were amazing and although we didn't go in it was nice to see. Parking was charged at £5 all day, free if you belong to the national trust. There were toilets and a cafe at the carpark and cycle hire which was £5 a day, we thought that was a bargain! Will definitely be visiting again!
M. J.
Nice day out
Gardens were well kept even after the hot dry summer.
House was well presented and staff helpful and happy
A. W.
Not busy at all, lots of space to run around and some beautiful gardens, go there most years one of our family favourites
K. M. (. a. Y.
Famtastic place; good parking, easy to find very well sorted Covid wise, stunning gardens and house. Will have to return once back to 'normal'. Lots of great walks here too.
j. p.
Really nice estate we enjoyed walking around here. It was a foggy day but still well worth the visit. The grounds are well kept and I can see this being a busy place in the summer, there is lots of areas to sit and have a picnic or there is the onsite cafe and the local pub (also in the grounds). Totally recommend a visit if you love big stately homes
J. C.
My dad needs a mobility scooter, staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, everyone went above and beyond. Fantastic day out.
S. A.
Beautiful gardens and some great walks to choose from - well worth a visit. Make sure you book in advance using the national trust website.
J. H.
A lovely day out. Plenty of walks. Some routes suitable for wheelchairs. Due to covid, only toilets open are near car park. These have both baby changing and access toilet. Ladies may have to queue, as only 3 toilets if all are working. Cafe closed, but trailer selling drinks & snacks on entrance to main house area, along with ice cream in main parterre. Main house not open, but you get good views from all sides. Well worth a visit. Very easy to social distance, except be careful in toilets. Antibacterial available by shop, which is open.
J. B.
What an impressive building with a long walk to the entrance. Lots more rooms to look around than usual in places as big as this. You will need plenty of time to explore the house and the garden. Staff are happy to answer any questions you might have and often tell info that is not necessarily in the guide book. Well worth a visit.
B. B.
This is a great place to visit, it's easy to fill your day with the house, gardens, grounds, RAF museum & exhibitions. Child and family friendly with great facilities & plenty of parking. Obviously helps if you are a National Trust member.
j. D.
One of the most lovely estates, visited first time 6 months ago and the art inside is magnificent, the place is all round beautiful and you can have enjoyable walks around it. For dog lovers also but in most of the gardens you need a lead on for the dog. Don't hesitate to visit. It's a National trust site.
L. W.
First visit here. Most impressed. Beautiful gardens and wonderful house.all very well kept. Lots to explore. Large 2nd hand book shop. Plant sale. Air Force museum showing local history. Cafes. Lots of outside seating. Walled garden. Secret garden. Play croquet on the lawn. Walks round the lake or bring a pic-nic and just relax by the lake side.
p. h.
A great place to spend the day. Plenty to see and some great walks around the estate. There's an RAF museum which details how the hall was used during the second world war. There's also an icecream shop for when you fancy a break.
It's £14.35 for a ticket which is fine, but they also try to charge £5 to park. Just park in one of the surrounding roads for free.
T. S.
By far the best Jacobean house in Britain with superb gardens and lovely walks all around. The house interior has some fantastic moulded ceilings and some interesting art. Some interactive parts that are quite engaging for children.
Several excellent cafes which are not too expensive and an art display. If that was not enough there is a big second hand book shop too with a large stock of non-fiction and fiction.
The only bad point is that it is quite expensive at £15 each to get in and £5 to park the car on top of the entry charge. If you are a National Trust member all free though.
A. P.
One of my favourite National Trust properties in the country. The new accessible path around the estate opened up a whole new way to experience the property. The tearoom is always stocked with a plethora of savoury and sweet options, many freshly baked on site. The shop is a bit of a tight squeeze in a wheelchair, but stocked well. This also goes for the second hand bookshop. The house itself is beautiful and has fascinating and beautiful exhibitions on occasion.
C. K.
We've very recently joined National Trust &are now enjoying visiting their places. Our latest was Blickling, home of Anne Boleyn. They had lifts,&wheelchairs. The grounds are peaceful&lovely to walk round(bit rough sometimes for my scooter) As I couldn't go upstairs, the staff managed to get a gentleman from the RAF display to come and talk to me. My husband went upstairs&took pics of the display for me. A lovely day, right on our doorstep
R. S.
This looks like a really lovely house. We went with dog so could only walk the grounds. The car parking is £5, unless a national trust member. This is a lot more than a couple of other parks and how we have visited in the area. We did one of the longer walks and initially found the way marking want great to find the start but once on the route the way marking improved. The estate grounds were on a par to others in the area. The cafe near car park was nice and cake portions very good. We had lunch at the Bucks Arms which is next to the estate. Overall we enjoyed our time at Blicking but have reduced a couple stars for the high parking charge and less than good waymarking.
C. B.
We went on the England v Wales world cup game night so it was very quiet at Blickling and I suppose most other places.
S. C.
Beautiful setting, fabulous architecture, nicely laid out gardens and good quality furniture. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable guides. Would have been 5 stars but for the scaffolding, which is currently necessary because of problems with an infestation of the death watch beetle. A lovely day out.
A. x.
Super nice place to visit, you can walk or run there, it is quite big. There is a lake that can see wild birds. The coffee shop in the estate is excellent, foods are nice and not so expensive.
The hall is worth to view. As a member of national trust, packing is free and visit is free otherwise will need to pay both
J. A.
Although part of the attraction of Blicking Hall is that Anne Boleyn was born there, the house that stands today is not what the Boleyn family would recognise as the current house is that of Sir Henry Hobart who built on the ruins of the Boleyn house.
The view down the drive is very impressive with the main house and the 2 wings which were added later. We had an excellent introductory talk before entering the house and it gave us a very good history of the house before going round it.
The main stairs are very impressive with a statue of Anne Boleyn to the right of the stairs and Queen Elizabeth 1 to the left.
Perhaps the most impressive room at Blickling is the library with I think its 12,000 books. There are also impressive bedrooms used by visiting Royalty and other rooms used for entertaining.
The gardens are very impressive - especially the borders - and there are extensive grounds to stroll around.
J. F.
What a place, If you can stomach 6 pounds carpark fee you can enjoy a spectacular walk around the Blickling Hall grounds we did not enter the building itself but had a great day outside, recommend going early for parking and do not have soup in the cafe its terrible and overpriced.
D. H.
Amazing place to visit and explore. The gardens are beautiful and you can try a variety of walks around the grounds. There are cafe's and a local pub to get refreshments. I did not get enough time to explore everywhere but I can recommend the walk around the lake.
J. D.
Great stately home with delightful gardens.
The chocolate cake in the cafe is MASSIVE!
M. K.
Blickling Hall is really worth a visit. Beautiful Jacobite mansion. The gardens are also enjoyable to stroll around. Well run in light of covid restrictions.
A. W.
A lovely day at a beautiful place
T. H.
Enjoyed going round the garden and house, staff very friendly and eager to share information about the house and rooms.
D. W.
A must see if you're in norfolk. A slice of Elizabethan history brought upto date. Amazing estate to walk around.
L. D.
Myself, my partner and my young family (toddler 19 months old and baby 8 months) came here for the first time at the weekend. We decided that we wanted to do the lakeside walk, and see if we could get the pushchair round. Our toddler loves being outdoors but obviously our baby cant walk yet so we weren't sure which walk would be appropriate. Although it was a bit muddy in places, we managed to get all the way round and it was a lovely walk. We didnt use any of the facilities but will definitely return.
Only criticism is the £5 charge for parking, considering we didnt use the facilities we thought this was a bit steep. Some other estates we have visited are only £3 which seems a bit more reasonable.
S. H.
Lovely outdoor spaces with walking trails. They had outdoor lawn games available too which the children enjoyed.
S. S.
A lovely walk round the estate with a stop for refreshments at the main car park cafe. Safe one way system in cafe and clean facilities.
P. F.
Beautiful illuminated garden you see in winter time. Best to book a slot as it can be very busy. Make sure you're warm with comfortable walking shoes on. Can be a challenging venture if in the wheelchair. We had spiced apple, mulled wine and mince pie at the temple. Highly recommended place.
A. J.
Love Blickling Hall, such a good feel place. At Christmas it is decorated beautifully and really gives the traditional start to the festive season that I always look for. Oh and the congress tarts are on our cooking list for next weekend!
S. M.
One of the National Trust's best properties. Garden and grounds are lovely. Some excellent art, tapastries and furniture in the house. The long gallery/library is a great room.
C. S.
Typical national trust property. With the usual tea room, shop, second hand book shop. Lovely walks around the garden and lake. Fantastic Christmas light displays.
C. H.
Beautiful estate, beautiful hall.
Blickling Hall is a wonderdul visit.
The main building is a jaw dropping experience or if you prefer a walk in the beautiful grounds or estate, then you can do that, too.
If you've never been, then you should remedy that, immediately.
The National Trust look after some incredible, historic buildings, so get out there and explore your heritage.
D. H.
Splendid Jacobean mansion set in a vast country park with a fishing lake and beautiful ornamental gardens . The highlight was the Long Gallery book collection but the grounds are for walking and exploring and even includes a fine country pub/hotel - the Buckinghamshire Arms. House and garden lovers will adore it as well as walkers.
K. W.
Hall had all Christmas decorations up with a 1930s theme. Wonderful show.
C. W.
A wonderful place to visit. Even better on a sunny day. Beautiful gardens and a beautiful house. Cafe, bookshop and all facilities were outstanding.
J. S.
Beautiful.
The hall itself is full of history and the gardens are formal but lovely to walk around.
There are plenty of guides to help you find your way around and a nice little cafe with great coffee.
Enjoy your visit.
P. B.
Cold day today but if you can walk quickly, you warm up. If you can't walk quickly, then stop off for a coffee & flapjack!
V. R. P.
Wow, what a beautiful estate, been told about it in the past but hadn't got around to visiting.
Had a fabulous day, both around the estate and the house
T. P.
Have been here plenty of times having grown up in Aylsham. The garden and hall are really worth visiting - and a national trust card is a good investment if you haven't already got one. We most recently went for Christmas and the lights and decor were very impressive. There is also a large wood/park around the hall which is free to enter and nice to walk around.
C. R.
We didn't go in the hall, just came to walk and see the bluebells and we were not disappointed. We took the long walk past the tower and the unique pyramid! But the carpet of bluebells was stunning and in such a lovely woodland backdrop. Plus a well stocked cafe for refreshments, perfect.
K. T.
I love this place. There is always lots to see and the gardens are lovely.
Deducting a star as on this visit the NT volunteer in the car park was quite rude. I pay enough for membership, I don't need some snooty comment when entering the grounds.
D. S.
Fantastic day out at this National Trust park. Although there are some restrictions for dogs, there is still plenty of place to go. One day it's just not enough!
J. G.
A lovely place for a day out, beautiful gardens to walk round in the sunshine and stunning buildings. Convenient loan of mobility scooter for mum to help get round. Cafe served lovely food options.
E. H.
A very enjoyable day out at a property brimming with history and grandeur. Highly recommend!
C. S.
Visited Blocking Hall with family and friends, we'd taken our own picnic. Lots of places to sit and eat and also cafes inside the grounds. Plenty of parking. Would recommend been a member of national trust as you can then visit all locations. Overall great day. Staff are volunteers and very knowledgeable of the history.
G. C.
Well worth a visit, lovely estate. Great food in cafe.
a. A.
Just loved this National Trust gem, it is one of best in the area to visit. There was plenty of information about its history, it's beautiful and plenty to see and do.
C. T.
The house was decorated for Christmas. All rooms looked spectacular. There were many fabulous flower arrangements. The glass pyramid was impressive.
M. N.
Lovely house and garden. Nice tea room and restaurant 🌿☕
M. F.
Took my doggies so couldn't go in main part but the walks and views were amazing and the muddy boots cafe was lovely, great afternoon
M. P.
Visited Blickling last Friday in March 2022. Large well sign posted car park with disability use well marked. Toured the Stately home with every major room having a knowledgeable guide on hand. We'll sign posted grounds and map available. National Trust property with volunteer guides. A v good 2 hr tour.
R. V.
One of the most beautiful places I have been able to visit in England. It's so beautiful and so peaceful. Definitely makes for a full day of exploration with both the castle and the gardens.
J. C.
Wonderful afternoon. My wife and I took her 90 year old mother. She loved the FREE mobility scooter hire that enabled her to get around the gardens for the first time in years.
A. N.
One of the best National Trust buildings I know - and a gem for history and interest. Really fascinating little RAF museum too. Worth the annual NT fee on it's own. Great walks in the area too.
S. G.
Lovely house and very enjoyable walk around the estate.
C. T.
Beautiful. We only walked around the gardens and did the Easter egg hunt with the kids where you have to find the numbers and complete the (nature based) activity in order to pick up your lovely chocolate egg. Not sure I've ever seen so many daffodils in one place. We were slightly early for the bluebells but I suspect they'll be beautiful. Friendly staff and easy parking, although could have possibly done with some more signs to find the car again once we finished the Easter trail!
E. S.
What an amazing house and gardens. Absolutely worth a visit, the cafes are lovely and shop. Lots for the whole family to do.
Amazing architecture.
P. M.
Loved it, great day out for all the family with plenty for the kids to do. Bike hire, games on the lawn and relaxing by the pond.
M. A.
Interesting NT property with nice history. Make the most of the room guides as they have some colourful anecdotes to enhance the facts.
Allow an hour for the house and take a picnic in the deckchairs on the lawn by the lake.
J. L. (.
Incredibly beautiful estate grounds, took the dog for a delightful walk around the lake. Will review again when we revisit without the pooch so we can go into the gardens/Hall.
D. C.
Lovely grounds and in the current climate , you are unable to go inside the house but the grounds are well kept ,limited people allowed in at a time means you feel like you have the pla e to yourself.
Looking forward to visiting again to look around the house .
A. S.
What a beautiful buildings simply oozing with historic interest.
The gardens which I am sure will be stunning in the summer are just a bit dull just now.
The major downside is that dogs are not allowed in the gardens at all, this quite spoils it for us since we were visiting with good friends and had to split up in order that their very well behaved dog could be taken care of, so they didn't see the house.
We put with screaming children who are incredibly badly behaved and yet they are allowed anywhere at Blickling!
Please National Trust, think again about your dog policy.
J. T.
Stunning grounds, gardens, lake and parkland. Enjoyed tour of the House and history connected to it. Friendly staff. Lovely cafe and well stocked pre-loved bookshop. Had a relaxing and wonderful day.
C. E.
Walking round the woods when the bluebells are out is such an amazing experience.
M. N.
Very interesting Jacobean property with beautiful gardens and extensive parkland to stretch the legs.
H. T.
Had a lovely day walking around the grounds. The bluebells in the woods were amazing.
D. T.
Lovely place for walks and great house. Staff and volunteers make it.
P. T.
One of our favourite National Trust houses. Has lovely gardens, second-hand bookshop, good cafeteria and shop too. A great day out.
G. W.
Went in search of mushrooms. Didn't think we'd have much luck as the little one didn't fancy walking very far but we were amazed at what we found in a patch of woodland at the very front of the lake.
M. S.
Beautiful gardens for a lovely walk. Lovely gift shop and cafe where I had a tasty hot pot and cake.
G. R.
Fabulous place. So much to do. Marvelous wooded estate walks and cycle rides, lovely formal and walled gardens, lovely house, two cafes, fishing lake and a real pub between the car park and the house. A day was just not long enough. The best, if not one of the best, National Trust locations.
M. A.
There were plenty of staff, from booking in to touring the house, shops etc. Everyone was really pleasant and happy to help or answer questions. The house is magnificent and the gardens superbly kept ...I'm sure we hope to return sometime.
A. B.
On a break in Norfolk and being national trust members went to Blickling, our 2nd time, great location, well educated staff friendly and adequate space to walk round. Plenty of parking and places to picnic or buy food. Highly recommended 👌
P. J.
Beautiful place with a fantastic collection of art and so much history
S. S.
Lovely estate with lots to see, we are National Trust members and visit lots of NT places, my only gripe would be that some parts had been closed for clearing, whilst I know this has to be done it seems unfair that the entrance charges do not reflect the fact.
S. A.
Great parkland to explore, easy to follow and we'll kept paths & walkways
I. L.
Great visit and outside walking in classic English estate. Marvellous.
Booking essential now due to Covid. Well managed car parking but perhaps signage a little confusing at first arrival.
J. A.
Love visiting this place, especially during the Christmas period. Each room decorated featuring a different decade. Each season brings its own beauty in the gardens.
G. C.
Really nice building. Lovely walks and gardens. Nice cafe for snacks and drinks.
Spend a good half day there.
k. d.
Confusing car park entrance but once in the house and grounds are very interesting. Very knowledgeable NT staff. Pleasant Cafe, bookshop and shop located in former stables.
B. S.
Lovely day out..not happy to pay parking on top of paying to get in..lovely cafe at entrance
A. A.
Visited this country house which has large and extensive grounds. The house is well kept with interest in each room and an amazingly large library. The grounds, in general, are kept well but there are areas that have been neglected.
H. A.
lovely house and interesting history the volunteers were very keen on sharing what they know about it check out the chimneys they don't makes them like that anymore plenty of walks to enjoy
P. O.
A lovely estate walk through the Great Wood, which is truly magical when the bluebells are out. Our favourite go to NT property. Muddy Boots cafe provides a good selection of drinks and snacks. More substantial meals are available in the Courtyard Cafe.
A. W.
The house is beautiful and very interesting. You can ask questions of the everpresent volunteer force. Tea rooms are a delight and the bookshop is a wonder of its own in these digital days. Add to this the fact that there's a pub on site selling local real ale and superb food and you have a day in out to remember!
S. M.
Lovely National Trust property. We went for a long dog walk today, but met runners, cyclists, anglers, walkers without dogs, people with mobility scooters and baby buggies - there is room for everyone and terrain for all these different types of activity. Cafe in the car park welcomes dogs too.
A. J.
Very lovely estate 😍 the garden is also very beautiful. Great for a family day out or just a relaxed stroll. It is full of history and well looked after
T. S.
Beautiful house and gardens well worth a visit
J. H.
Fantastic day out. Lovely grounds and interesting house - some amazing portraits
M. T.
Brilliant place highly recommended to visit. Nice inside and outside love that place
A. F.
Interesting house with original furnishings and tapestries. Very helpful staff. Accessible for wheelchair users. There is a lift to the upper floor
J. W.
Nice place to go for a day trip lovely gardens and house
g. h.
Lovely gardens, could spend hours walking around them. The house is just as nice with an interesting history.
G. P.
Great place for an afternoon, lookout for the long gallery which is stunning....x
I. S.
A gorgeous house, beautiful grounds and fantastic volunteers happy to share stories about our much beloved manor house. I take my little boys with me to look around (4 years old and 9 month old) and we always feel welcome, as well as having a good time.
M. G.
Beautiful House and lovely walk in the grounds. The exhibition was an unexpected bonus. A great day out.
A. C.
Go cycling. Green route for easy family cycling - 4 miles. Pub at the end of ride. Bloody good food!
M.
Great place and great scenery so much history and architecture
d. p.
I have been twice this year and both the house and gardens truly amazing.. the art collection is very interesting .. the staff and volunteers very helpful and would recommend for a great day out ..
R. C.
Nice place to walk around the grounds are well kept and surrounded by fields, sadly I didn't get to go in the house due to when I arrived but I will happily be heading back, looking at the scale of it there is plenty more to see
R. E.
A lovely Jacobean house and estate owned by the National Trust, really knowledgeable staff members on hand and nice selection at the cafe.
L. W.
A big carpark to the right of the estate. Good walking routes. Good sports for kids. A lovely wall kitchen garden.
W. 6.
Lovely gardens, walk and house. A real Norfolk treasure. Cafe is pretty good too!
V. 1.
Lovely NT property i would have liked to give five stars.
Unfortunately, little or no vegan options here. Glad I brought some vegan nibbles 😬
B. K.
This was a real surprise and we realised we hadn't given ourselves enough time to do our visit justice. We managed the house, RAF and craft exhibition, but only 10% of the grounds. We will return.
C. C.
Hall was amazing, but the grounds and gardens were very dog unfriendly.
Allowed in parkland but not into main garden area at hall. Resulting in family separating.
L. F.
Lovely place but thought fact that there pictures of the man Henry eight up that killed Ann boleyn whom wasn't guilty of the crimes he said she had done was more about the home she lived and not him was very disrespectful 😡to her Honor and there should be more respect shown for her xx
A. L.
Really nice day out on are bikes. Found out you can hire a bike for five pound a day. Lots of different tracks you can take. Lots of photos spots on the way and romantic views. Bike hire people are very friendly and knowledgeable. So much to see and do. Will be going again and again. Might even get a trust car park pass for it
M. P.
Fabulous walk around the lake and park then some superb food at local pub. Loved it. Totally recommend 👍👍👍
R. D.
I visited Blickling with my children aged 5 & 3 on a warm afternoon in the Easter holidays, it did not disappoint. The house is beautiful with dedicated volunteers who are full of information about the rooms and truly with you to love Blickling as much as they do. After touring the house we followed the Easter egg trail. There was a handy map for adults and the trail was suitable for all ages. My girls enjoyed identifying the butterfly before I read the information to answer the question. The trail was spread over much of the garden so I was able to see most of it. The girls were very pleased with their Easter egg prize. After a browse in the gift shop an ice cream was order of the day before heading home. Blickling was a true delight and I look forward to returning.
P. B.
A good day out. There are a lot of well kept gardens to walk round and a well kept stately home, the staff are very knowledgeable and can answer your questions
B. K.
Fantastic gardens and parkland and a beautiful palladian house. NT had opened as much of the house as possible and it was well worth the visit. Extremely informative and friendly guides and staff.
E. F.
Jaw dropping gorgeous. Plenty of room for the kids to run around.A perfect destination for your day out
P. K.
A five star Jacobean prodigy house, in beautiful grounds, both garden & park. Nicely furnished. The usual NT café, shop, etc...
R. B.
Superb grounds for dog walking, with a dog friendly cafe to welcome you on your return to the carpark. The estate grounds offer some great options for dog walkers, with 3/4 different routes, all with varying scenery and distances. We went on the longest, which takes you around the house, the lake, the woodland on the outskirts of the estate, and the tower at the back. Great views and a very idyllic setting. There's also a lovely little cafe waiting for you when the route brings you back to the main carpark, which is dog friendly. All round great dog walking spot in Norfolk. Only couple of things to note, be prepared for parking charges - only option is £5 for the day. Also, the routes are typically 'dogs on lead only', however there are a couple of sections towards the back of the estate that seem suitable to let them off, but as always only do so if you're confident that you're in control of your dog, as there is roadway to the back.
I. S.
Lovely place for walks even for some picnic! Dogs friendly! We are going there at least once a month!
C. B.
Fab place. Gardens are lovely...short and longer walks. House really good. People in each room really knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent little cafe/ restaurant
R. S.
The walk around the park land was great the gardens were a work in progress, the exhibitions we very good
M. T.
The tiger who came for tea tour was at Blickling and the children loved looking for the tigers spaced throughout the hall. They also enjoyed the exhibition in the basement rooms.
The weather was excellent for the time of year so I think all of the overspill car parks were in use due to visitor numbers. We made the most of the good weather around the grounds and the gardens and also visited the walled garden where the children were able to plant beans in pots and take them home to nurture them.
Both cafes were visited and also the National Trust shop, a good, inexpensive day out
K. S.
Beautiful gardens and lake. Perfect for an afternoon stroll.
e.
Great place to relax and look around a beautiful garden. Shame the roses garden had taken a beating from this year's heatwave, always next year!
L. D.
Lovely Gardens . The main house was so interesting. Would recommend . Sadly the entrance cafe was a let down. Coffee was not great quality .x
J. W.
Beautiful house and gardens, ample parking and lovely cakes in the cafe.
P. H.
Impressive house and gardens. Plenty of parking. Cafe, shop, second hand books, everything you expect from NT.
A. C.
Lovely place to visit. Popular with dog walkers.
S. G.
Cheap bike hire, great trails for biking and walking.
The house is beautiful and full of interesting art.
Genuinely enjoyed visiting and will be going again.
National trust membership get you free parking and entry
C. W.
Found entrance in a bit confusing to get in due to blocking off normal route in. You have to pre book but this is for the flow into the car park and not for a timed slot to the gardens. Car park currently free. Large grounds to walk round the house is currently not open due to Covid restrictions. Could do with a few more signs on route. Gardens are not vast, but are nicely presented with good kitchen garden. I always wish they would supply a map of the planting or labelled be good to know the varieties. Enjoyed the day and was not too disappointed the house was unavailable. Would recommend as a good place to enjoy the open space.
L. G.
I think this place is absolutely beautiful.
The gardens and surroundings are amazing and the house is beautiful
G. T.
Excellent garden and house. Great facilities and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
K. A.
Stunning building and beautiful grounds,. Great day out
D. S.
Interesting history , lovely walks, big walled garden . Knowledgeable , pleasant and engaging staff. Recommended
A. E.
A wonderful place to visit. Lots to see and lots of lovely walks.
The walk around the lake past the sheep is lovely.
J. R.
Great day out for a walk with young kids. Small 1-2 mile trail was perfect.
M. L.
Interesting place to explore. House itself is relatively small but plenty of interesting things inside and knowledgeable guides.
B. B.
Interesting jacobian house and gardens
D. H.
Well worth a visit.... especially on a sunny day.
Visited again 1st October and was disappointed to see so much fruit being wasted.
It's been a great year for apples and pears and they were not being harvested, just falling off and rotting.
Surely the National Trust are missing a trick here.
Even if they harvested and donated to food banks or simply allowed visitor's to pick a few for a small charity donation. This would surely sit better in the National Trust values than just allowing them to waste.
R. S.
Seasons greeting to Blickling,a feastive feast of lights.something that should not be missed.A walk around the garden and enjoy the spectacle, and after a warm drink and great food.
S. C.
Great destination for a family day out! Simply beautiful Norfolk scenery!
P. S.
Enjoyed our visit in the sunshine, considering how much none members pay £5 car parking a bit much.
J. R.
Beautiful place, bluebells were out of this world. Foot paths are very good. Great for buggy, wheelchairs.
A. M.
Lovely place to visit gardens are beautiful. We had a lovely 4 mile walk and a tour of the house. Staff very informative and helpful.
K. H.
So much to see, fabulous walled garden and lovely grounds to walk in.
P. M.
Great walking around the estate
C. S.
Lovely place, usually nice gardens but suffering from the extreme heat and drought at the time of our latest visit.
S. M.
Incredible estate and all the staff were so lovely too, especially in the house! Had a lovely meal in the cafe too!
L. P.
Went to concert at Blickling Hall, great show and location only down side was that due to the lack of stewarding and traffic control took hour to get out of the carpark at the end of the night.
D. H.
Jacobean style house.
The day we visited the volunteers were all dressed in Period costumes, and enacting the part of someone who had lived or worked at the house.
Each to their own, I found it rather tiresome after a while, and found myself ducking for cover when one of them made a beeline for me.
M. W.
Lovely place to spend a few hours. Loads of history and a nice cafe. 🍰🥪
S. E.
Beautiful gardens and estate walks around lake with views of hall. Didn't go in hall as we had dogs.
s. f.
You need your sat nav as ot is impossible to follow the brown signs at the moment . A beautiful house with a fantastic second hand book shop
j. l.
We regularly visit to walk the dog in the grounds and call in at the cafe. There is always something nice, hot and fresh waiting for you! Seating is all outside so beware of a rainy day! But otherwise a really lovely walk around the lake
R. B.
Lovely house, beautiful gardens and cheap cycle hire meaning we got to see more of the estate. Nice selection of food in the cafe and very friendly and helpful staff made our visit a day to remember.
A. J.
Great day out, lovely walks around parkland and lake. Delicious food in the cafe
T. D.
Impressive house, lovely gardens and an extensive parkland. It is simply a lovely place to visit.
T. P.
Loved the long walk around the estate. Beautiful countryside and you can hire bikes if you don't want to walk. 6 miles if you don't keep the marked routes.
r. b.
Lovely place,very interesting
I. L.
Strange that you were told on the information boards in each room more about how the room had been altered and by who, than what treasures were in the room. So in one room two Gainsborough's were not mentioned, but we're told something like the 5th earl made this into his dressing room, or suchlike, not unimportant, but surely a loss of perspective.
D. C.
Really enjoyed the fabulous gardens, stunning array of colours. Lots of butterflies and bees visiting, immaculate grass borders.
k. m.
Great house, gardens, history and artwork. Highly recommended
R. W.
Really nice house and grounds, lake and gardens are all beautiful
b. w.
Fabulous take the day huge estate. Great walks and the house is very well done.
M. R.
Beautiful National Trust property with wonderful gardens. Staff all very friendly and helpful.
N. M.
Really beautiful house and estate - we went on a Bank Holiday Monday and it didn't feel unpleasantly busy. Food from cafe was good but not cheap...freely made though
K. S.
Very enjoyable visit to Blinking Hall.
The formal garden was great, the topiary looked like upside-down plant pots.
I liked looking at the servants quarter. There were ladies giving the brass pots and pans a yearly polish.
The ceilings were beautiful and it was nice of one of the staff to spend time explaining about the problems they are having with beetles eating the timber.
Also I enjoyed the photographs of staff who had worked at the estate.
J. D.
Enthusiastic volunteers greeted us at the house and others entertained us in the main rooms, acting the parts of the 1930s residents and staff all in costume. Great fun and very informative. The house is amazing for pristine condition of the building, the quality & condition of the furnishings and fixtures plus the vast collection of art (pictures, tapestries, ceramics, etc.
B. R.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit, I can't recommend it enough. The house is amazingly preserved with knowledgeable helpers for any questions.
The grounds are beautiful and very extensive, you could do lots of different walks and just spend the day doing that!!
Good value pricing compared to some homes I have visited. I understand from the cafe staff it can get very busy so work your times for arriving and meals to avoid peak time
One odd thing was the exit after the tour of the house, 99/100 houses land you at the gift shop or cafe. Blickling is very low key and drops you out to a nondescript area at the side of the house and you have to walk another 300m or so to get back to the cafe/gift shop, weird!!
Get yourself there you will enjoy it
K. S.
Very impressive house and gardens. We visited out of season so not fully open. Would definitely go there again.
R. H.
Amazing house and grounds! Loved the peaceful tour of the house with few visitors inside. Outside grounds fantastic!
o. m.
Beautiful house and gardens, although this trip the gardens looked unwatered and dried out.
C. B.
Great day out. Such a beautiful place set in magnificent grounds. Enjoyed book arts event too.
D. R.
Lovely building, full of history brought to life by period dressed people. Lovely cafe and one of the biggest secondhand bookshops I've seen. Will be coming back when the gardens are in bloom.
A. H.
There's nothing to criticise about the beautiful place...apart from the parking app; it just did not work so why have it? Worth a day out if you're interested in history or a walk through fine Norfolk countryside. Please though, sort out the parking payment system. It was terrible.
R. P.
Blickling is always a great place for relaxation either to walk in the grounds and parkland or wander through the gardens and explore the house. Lake walk still not available. Interesting RAF museum.
S. C.
Great place for a walk with dog and family. Buggy safe too!
C. B.
It's excellent if you are a member but gets expensive if not. Lovely daffodils and primroses
P. V.
Great interiors with less impressive gardens but I enjoyed it.
J. E.
A very nice and interesting place also good walks in the grounds
A. F.
Lovely gardens great for a walk will look forward when the hall is open
A. K.
Very pleasant visit. Care and access for those with mobility issues excellent.
S. C.
Fantastic place. A must visit.
T. N.
Lovely, welcoming place. Enjoyed a long but wet walk in the gardens and park. Highly recommended.
The house looks great too but it was sadly closed when I visited.
J. T.
Beautiful house & grounds. Great care has been taken to keep it safe.
m. w.
Lots of interesting rooms in the house and very extensive grounds to walk around
A. T.
Lovely place to visit the house and greet walks to there is a bit for everyone
R. B.
Fantastic house, really well laid out with things to engage the children all around the house and gardens.
Volunteers were knowledgeable and fun to talk with and also inspired the children to stop and look at certain items in the rooms.
Well recommended.
M. R.
We went to see the Christmas lights one evening and returned the next day to look round the house. The lights were wonderful and we stopped and had mulled wine and stood by an open fire with carols playing which was great.
The house is a very interesting and the craft fair was good too.
