Reviews of Bure Valley Railway (Wroxham station)
s. G.
A 45 min ride, half an hour turnaround time with a small gift shop and second hand books and puzzles shop that was very reasonable at Wroxham then a 45 min return trip on the same line. Ideal for kids, dogs were allowed...its a slow ride. It cost £32 for 2 adults so quite pricey.
We went on 3pm train ride as we had breakfast in cafe...a breakfast wrap and a cake that was very moist...lovely and then cycled part of marriotts way which is just over the road.
J. S.
We went on a coach trip to Aylsham for a trip on the Bure Railway. My partner was interested how the little steam train works, the volunteers who help to run the railway was very helpful in showing about the trains. The train ride took 45 minutes into Wroxham . It is worth a visit especially for all ages and disabilities too. Definitely recommend a visit .
R. S.
Enjoyed the mini steam train with my family. We only had time to get off and look in the shop before getting back on for the return journey. Only spent the afternoon on the mini railway. My daughter enjoyed watching the train on the turntable.
S. A. S.
A superb way to pass the time on this classic steam railway. Ride those rails in old fashioned carriages and enjoy the countryside views.
Enjoy a snack at the cafe or take a look in the shop whilst you wait for the return journey.
A huge family favorite we go on time and time again.
Look out for the themed days which add more value to your tri.
Lots of different coloured engines.
A great day out hugely reccomended by tourists and us locals
A. G.
We did the steam train experience from Wroxham and loved it! The carriages are very small which might be worth noting, but still a very unique experience!
The train station has quite limited signposting so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to figure out where to catch the steam train part from!
Also if you book your tickets online you still have to collect in person- we figured this out the hard way!
A. B.
A very nice day out. Service was excellent. Trains and carriages not as large as the Sheringham to Holt service. Also scenery not as good (in my opinion) but a lovely stay at the Broads for a few hours then 45 minute train journey return. We'll done volunteers. Worth a trip and dog friendly.
S. S.
A great day out, beautiful Norfolk countryside and really friendly staff. There were a lot of people visiting but it didn't feel crowded. We bought tickets on the day but it might be worth buying them in advance at busier times, especially when the schools shut down for the summer.
D. A.
Great afternoon lovely staff. Gorgeous scenery. A memorable day. Stopped in wroxham for a couple of hours. Fed the swans, had lunch. Lovely ride back to Aylsham.
Thank you for a lovely experience.
W. H.
Good little railway, lovely people, great little locos, long ride (9 miles) thru country side. Good shop and cafe at Aylsham plus brilliant cheap railway bookshop at Wroxham. Great day out for all the family.
A. T.
Fantastic experience on this 9-mile Steam Train ride, each group of travellers was allocated their own compartment for the 9-mile journey from Aylesham to Wroxham where we combined our train ride with a boat trip on the Broads courtesy of Broads Tours. Best thing abt the train journey was getting to see all that beautiful countryside from a new perspective, stunning trip, i had a big smile on my face the whole way !
a. “. h.
Didnt pre book tickets, bought them at the station. We had over an hour to wait, so went to the bookshop that is next to the platform. If you enjoy reading, this is a must visit!
We watched the steam train turn on the turntable before connecting back up with the carriages.
Station was very clean and well maintained.
S. L. M.
A railway with both small steam and diesel engines and able to get 4 persons seated in a carriage. Booking recommended as limited availability on each train. Disabled, and wheelchair accessible.
R. N.
See my review of Aylsham Station... Good length and journey time for the railway but does not have the character or nostalgia of other railways due to its inception and lack of memorabilia to theme the setting. Aylsham is a characterful village with some fine buildings and large church and a selection of independent shops. We are electric car users so the plug-in charge points across from the station where a real bonus.
M. M.
Very helpful staff. Amazing stock of OO and N gauge models and electronic items in the Aylsham shop. The journey by train from Aylsham to Wroxham was nice. There was a Royal visit while I was at Aylsham too. Pity she lost her head later on. An enjoyable day all round. The shop at Wroxham is worth a visit which has an amazing collection of books.
A.
If you like travelling on vintage railways, then you'll thoroughly enjoy the hour-long trip on this quirky narrow-gauge train as it rattles along through pretty Norfolk countryside. A great way to spend time when visiting the area.
B. D. (.
I'm always on the lookout for dog friendly places to go and this did not disappoint. Booking online on their website was simple once you get to the station you go and get your boarding passes from the shop.
The car park is a good size and is Free!
There are toilets there and a cafe (although can't comment on that as we didn't have enough time to go in there). Our boarding passes told us which carriage we were in.
Mind your head as you get in and out of the carriages as they are quite low and both me and my mum bashed our heads on it haha!
The seats were comfy and the journey was very pleasant which nice views out. We has a beautiful blue steam train for our outwards journey from Aylesham to Wroxham. As of writing this review, currently the trains are not stopping at any in-between stations due to covid safety measures and still running at a reduced capacity.
When we got to Wroxham you can watch as the train gets manually pushed to turn it around. This station also has toilets and a little shop that has some snack foods, ice creams and a hot drinks machine. A walk down to the town isn't too far, about 10 mins walk away where there are plenty of places to eat, though even being on a Monday it was a very busy place with lots of traffic driving through.
From Wroxham station we followed a 5.8 mile walk that I'd found from the Norfolk county council website, called "The Bittern line walk 3" The start of this walk is actually from the the Bittern line station which is just a short walk over the overpass, but directs you to go over to the Bure Valley station anyway. The walk talks you partially back up alongside the railway track and then off around a large loop through countryside tacks and little towns, before eventually arriving back at Wroxham station.
We booked the last train to return on at 17:15 and that one was a diesel train. It was a very pleasant ride back to Aylesham as the long walk. All in all a really lovely day out with the dog 🚂🐾🐶
A. H.
Really fun mini railway - fun for solo adults and families. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish. Free parking at both stations is a great bonus. The stations felt vintage. Health and safety was being observed with the train compartments each being separated from each other which really allows you to relax. I was on a diesel train going out and a steam train going back. The experiences were subtly different which was cool. The views along the route were really fun, fields and countryside all around. I highly recommend enjoying this experience and exploring the villages at either end of the routes.
D. B.
Imaculately clean stations at either end of the line! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Friendly helpful staff helped to make our special. Will be back for another ride when next iñthe area
S. W.
This looks lovely. We missed the last train so couldn't have a ride. The kind station staff let us on the platform to have a look anyway.
B. E.
Felt a bit like a kid again! After the walk from Hoveton to Aylsham took the train back. Had to book the one an hour earlier than liked to get a steam locomotive. Very loud and bumpy journey and feels a bit unstable at high speed but all part of the experience.
j. h.
Great day well organised. Love the way the seats we done. Thank you.
L. G. (. e.
Excellent day out. Very dog friendly. Carriages are clean and well maintained. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful from lady in Wroxham shop, train staff and cafe at Aylsham. Got a compartment for each individual group so felt safe not sharing close contact with strangers.
S. C.
Very nice railway. Clean and tidy
Nice to be able to book tickets. Book shop good also. Strawberrys nice extra.
L. C.
A great activity for everyone, regardless of the weather. It was wet and grey when we visited but it didn't stop us enjoying the super fun train ride. Its 45 minutes each way, with a 30 minute stop at Wroxham Station (if starting at Aylsham), with the option of staying longer and wandering into Wroxham. We just did the short stay at Wroxham and had a look around the gift shop and book shop. The shops at both stations are great and there's snacks, drinks and toilets at both stations too.
C. B.
A lovely train ride ,with excellent views of the surrounding countryside ....👍👍
M. B.
A lovely small guage steam train reasonably priced worth getting a return ticket nice little cafe at Aylsham. Must ride the loco.
J. G.
Great little steam railway. Great little trip. Well worth the money.
L. A.
Friendly helpful staff.Exellent train journey. Plenty of room in each carriage lovely day.Would recommend
R. D.
This is even better due to covid as you get a compartment to yourselves We noticed a lot of large dogs on the train which we would not have wanted next to us Train staff very nice and helpful everything clean
s. s.
Great staff on the trains and the covid cleaning is on point. Struggled a tad at the cafe at the Aylsham station. My daughter is dairy free and for something foe her to eat wasn't easy however once discussed a solution was made and very helpful.. shops great. Fun day out for families
M. W.
It was raining when we went on our railway journey. Four of us shared the seats and our journey commenced. Most interesting railway journey which took us to Wroxham to do our Broads Voyage. A busy last day which was extremely enjoyable.
R. S.
Lovely railway station terminus at opposite end of line to Aylsham. The line itself runs through 9 miles of beautiful unspoilt Norfolk countryside. The station has a coffee shop and a fantastic 2nd hand bookshop with hundreds of books to choose from plus other items. The station has its own turntable for locomotives to use so that trains can be pulled with the engine facing the right way round on the return journey to Aylsham. The whole railway is a treat and a visit can be combined with a trip on the Broads from Wroxham. The railway sells tickets for the combined trip. Update 11.10.12 wow wow wow unbelievable!
M. R.
A lovely little narrow gauge railway 3/4 hour trip each way on the steam train. Stations and train were clean and well looked after. The volunteers were helpful and informative.
C. B.
Amazing experience for the family and very affordable.
Very helpful staff that certainly create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Due to Covid there was one empty compartment in front and behind us and plenty of space to move around freely on platforms.
N. I.
Nice station and a good day out for families. Good view of train at turning circle, and pleasant countryside views along the route Tickets were £14 return so not too bad. Station itself is nicely made up, restrooms and gift shop with a few nice souvenirs available. Staff on hand are friendly and helpful. All in all a good day out when the suns out.
P. S.
We did enjoy our train ride.
The staff at the stations were polite and knowledgeable but the price of tickets were very spiteful, it would have probably been worthwhile to pre book online
A. M.
It's fantastic. You don't have to be into trains to appreciate this narrow gauge gem. A beautiful journey in the countryside, ending in a lovely cafe for lunch.
O. A.
Weekend away and my friend and I decided to go on a train adventure as we stayed at Caister on Sea holiday park weekend before the second lockdown 😊
It was a good experience, had to drive an hour from Caister to Aylsham.
Parking available outside of the station at Alysham free of charge. We turned up early and could sit at the stations cafe area under strict social distancing measures.
Tickets available to purchase both over the phone and in person at the station.
Masks must be worn at all times in and around the station.
Toilet facilities available at both ends (Alysham station and Wroxham station)
It was 45mins ride both ways, staff and attendants were quite friendly and helpful, willing to change ticket times to accommodate us.
Carparks quite secure and refreshments available to purchase if you need to wait for your train to arrive, sitting plan was great and comfortable..no toilets on board as very small seating cabins 😊
The views were lovely and tranquil
Loads of signposting to show which direction to go and how to keep safe with social distancing 👍🏼
Wroxham has a small town which is about 15mins walk from the train station if you have enough waiting time..cash machine, retail shopping, food shopping, dining etc available here
Overall it was a nice activity and lil kids would really enjoy it too
S. A.
Lovely little steam train. Was fun for young ones.
45 min rode one way then a chance to stay for some time then 45 min rode back.
Was a little cold for very young people.
Great staff, all very friendly and welcoming.
C. G.
Lovely little railway. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially as we booked last-minute. You have a carriage to yourselves so it feels very safe. The journey between stations takes 45 minutes and there is a good cafe at Aylsham too. Children went free at half-term so it was the perfect rainy day activity.
J. P.
All in all, the Christmas Train journey was good. We expected a full size train but that was our fault for not checking. A cuppa with the mince pie would have been nice. Train was clean, staff friendly, hence 5 stars.
E. S.
Really great little railway, my sons and dog loved it! The only gripe is space for pushchairs and wheelchairs, theres only one dedicated carriage and our pushchair didn't fit into a normal cabin.
B. W.
Always a great day for a relaxing train ride
A. F.
Very good experience. Staff were friendly on the stations, cafes and shops. Each carriage in split into compartments which hold 4 (maybe 6 if children are small) people.
P. E.
Many years since I last rode on this. Very professionally run, and a great half day out.
F. I. N.
Great place! Friendly, knowledgeable volunteer staff manning the stations, cafe & shops.
Fun train journey through beautiful countryside with great views.
A. B.
Steam toy train tour from Aylsham to Wroxham and back. Staff are excellent. Has a nice cafe at the entrance. The journey time is 45 mins one way
C. B.
The Aylesham end had a well-stocked cafe with tasty homemade cakes. The engine and carriage were clean and tidy. I will be honest here steam trains are not my thing. This is a narrow gauge railway with small engines and carriages. I found the ride a little uncomfortable and the person who wrote the advertising blurb has a different definition of picturesque to me. On the plus side it is dog friendly although the carriage was a little small for 2 adults and a German Shepherd dog. Wrexham was pretty but very busy and seems to be owned by Roy. He has car parks, department stores, toy shops etc. We found a very nice sandwich shop with great sandwiches although slightly slow takeaway service.
B. L.
This was suggested to me by my mum and I'm glad she suggested it! Every staff member was super polite and helpful with me and my disabled friend.
I thought it was a great way to travel and certainly novel! The steam trains are really well kept and you can tell that they're loved!
J. M.
Excellent miniature railway taking you to Wroxham in ca 45 minutes.
Unfortunately Wroxham isn't great for food so either BYO or roll the dice! A quick return is recommended.
B. W.
This is a very well run line that is a great way to see the country side and take in a boat ride, too. But leave early to get the train to spend a great day at Wroxham.
The local friends of Bure Valley Railway shop is worth a look, too. It has model cars, trains and even vinyl records.
C. K.
Lovely day, very helpful staff. I was lucky enough to be put(pre-booked) into a big carriage with husband, 3 grandchildren, 1buggy&1mobility scooter! We were all shattered, so it was a peaceful journey as 2out of 3 were asleep coming back!
H. X.
Really nice small railway, did a special jubilee ride.
Dog friendly
P. S.
Lovely little narrow gauge railway running 9 miles along what was once a standard gauge railway through the country side.
Well run and friendly, this is a super way to spend a could of hours chuffing through the endless fields of Norfolk. You can understand why the line closed as you don't go through any real towns, but you can still see the original stations now converted into houses and the large bridges along the way designed for a big double track railway.
Good gift shops at either end selling all sorts of stuff, and reasonably priced sweets and ice creams.
Good disability access at both ends and good toilet facilities. Plenty of parking as well.
C. B.
Slightly larger rolling stock than the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, although it is the same gauge. Attractive route through farmland and woodland, and includes a tunnel! The track bed was once standard gauge, which accounts for the bridges being larger than necessary...
S. N.
Wroxham station is a lovely little station with a nice shop selling snacks, drinks and keepsakes to remember your day out. Clean and comfortable carriages which clatter along the track with a comforting sound that fills you with nostalgia. A lovely day out.
L. K.
Well worth a trip, picturesque. 45 each way not a huge amount to do in Wroxham so an hour turn around would work. Staff very helpful.
W. F.
Amazing little attraction which covers a great amount of time if you opt to do the return journey from Aylsham to Wroxham or vice versa. All of the staff/volunteers were extremely pleasant and greeted us before setting off on the journey. As it was a hot day, it was great to have the windows down to watch the countryside pass by and the opportunity to look at the old heritage stations as we passed through them.
A. B.
Absolutely wonderful way to spend a Sunday Afternoon. Beautiful scenery, beautiful station. The food at the Whistlestop Cafe was beautiful and some lovely seating outside.
G. C.
Great steam train trip. My grandson (and my husband) thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty to see and do in Wroxham and some great looking places for lunch. Definitely be making a return trip.
J. C.
We had a lovely time on the Bure Valley Railway and were so impressed by the cleanliness, well kept stations (at Wroxham and Aylsham) and the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff. Would highly recommend a visit. We had lovely lunch at the Aylsham cafe before returning on the Railway back to Wroxham.
C. B.
Great fun, if a little cramped in the miniture carriages. Quite expensive as well but we enjoyed it.
J. W.
A brilliant experience with well kept carriages. Great views from Aylesbury to Wroxham. Really good shops at both stations and café to help raise funds to keep this railway working.
T. A.
Lovely little railway with very friendly and helpful staff. We did the joint ticket where we got a boat tour once we got to Wroxham, thoroughly recommend visiting both of these and taking full advantage of the discount boat tour. Lovely day out and excellent weather.
A. G.
I had a good day out here with a friend, the staff and volunteers were great
S. w.
It's a wonderful place the staff so nice. There was a young lad in shop and I wanted a paddington bear they hadnt got one so he phoned the shop outher end they waited for me to get outher end and paddington was waiting. Brilliant day out will deffinatly do it again and again....
T. W.
Brilliant scale railway quite long journey and if you start at wroxham then at the other end is a brilliant cafe for cream teas while you wait for return journey. Worth the price and good fun.
N. C.
Very clean, efficient and well run. Good facilities at both main stations & of course the trains are SO lovely...brought back childhood memories for me...of the Romney, Hythe, Dymchurch line 👍
P. H.
Nice experience. Good cafe at Aylsham (no cafe at Wroxham). Helpful staff and a pleasant 45 minute ride through the Norfolk countryside.
R. W.
Absolutely a brilliant experience from beginning to end. Great value for money, friendly staff, good cafe too, spotlessly clean toilets.
C. D.
Excellent narrow gauge railway day trip both ways Wroxham to Aylsham. Dogs go free if you ask nicely.
J. W.
Loved it! A really fun way to spend an afternoon. Staff so helpful & friendly. Stations clean & well run.
K. P.
A very friendly railway. A great train ride through the countryside, with a well stocked shop and excellent afternoon teas on offer at the end of the ride!
p. e.
What a wonderful day out on the steam train to Wroxham.. 😁 Well worth the ticket price at only £15..😁 Will go again
E. H.
Wonderful Heritage railway very well organised beautiful scenery.
Great second hand book store on site.
C. A.
Fascinating little stream powered locomotive capable of hitting 40 mph despite looking NJ get like a toy train. Great gift shop with a good selection of books available
C. B.
Went on a Sunday, nice way to chill and see some scenery. Lovely journey.
T. S.
Lovely peaceful place, good for watching the trains turning on the turntable and there's a good book shop too.
A.
Great place to visit especially with children. Return ride on the narrow gauge train was fun
D. R.
Very well kept narrow gauge railway. Takes you to the broads. Can be combined with a boat trip.
D. T.
Cute narrow gauge railway. If you like riding on steam trains you should love this experience. Only thing that was lacking was the scenery in the surrounding fields, riding the rails was a lot of fun though.
J. T.
Excellent day out
Worth every penny
Pre book tickets if you can
M. P.
Public footpath alongside railway great walk. Took train to Aylsham (9 miles) and walked back to Wroxham. Great day out
K. W.
Lovely train ride pulled by two different steam engines there and back. Staff very helpful. Parking free and plenty of it. Nice cafe there and a shop selling model railway items. Pretty journey and lots to see at the stop over, we had a lovely meal at number 14 and a walk down river.
Highly recommended, we had grandparents and a toddler with us, perfect day.
N. Y.
The best small railway! Steam engines, and a great journey through the Norfolk countryside between Wroxham and Aylsham.
G. B. X.
Absolutely lovely experience, children loved it 🙂 just be mindful of taking pram during peak times, allthough we didn't have an issue, and staff were really friendly and helpful.
s. a.
Fantastic steam train ride. Slow pace, stunning scenery.
R. d. V.
An excellent day, good weather and friendly helpful people at all locations on the trip. Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed the day out.
G. C.
Great train ride quite pretty in parts. Nice facilities both at Wroxham and Aylsham that has a restaurant and bigger shop! Great for rail enthusiasts
M. L.
Very pretty walk, and a haven for herbs and wild flowers. I have pretty much eaten my body weight in fruit and fresh forage this August and early September. If you choose to do the same don't take any roots though. It's rude! (and illegal.)
W.
This was not quite what i was expecting. This is not a full sized railway which the leaflets bring you to believe. As such we were disappointed with the trip. Despite this the beat trip that was included in the ticket was good and I imagine it would be great for young children.
C. H.
A very nice time spent on the train and in Wroxham, the train staff are all very nice and the train ran on time both directions. The journey is 9 miles in each direction across the Norfolk countryside with just a few stops.
L. L.
Lovely train ride! The boys loved it:)
K. L.
Great ride out, very clean, all social distancing / covid rules in place. Carriages screened off and every other door in use so no sharing with others not in your group.
R. D.
Had a lovely trip on the train, bit difficult to get in and out of, but would recommend for an hour's entertainment.
p. f.
Great train ride.excellent staff. Well stocked shop. Also cafe on site.Plenty of parking
K. M.
A visit to the narrow gauge railway - We visited both stations, looked at the carriages and trains and watched one come in and go. The stations are really well kept and we enjoyed the visit including coffee and a cake at one of them.
J. J.
Lovely little trip on this Narrow steam train
A. U.
Great little railway, exceptional condition very clean and tidy, the staff are proud of their stations and it shows, very helpful.
M. A.
Staff were very helpful and informative. Fantastic journey well worth the money.
M. C.
Started from Aylsham
What a fantastic set up. Predominantly run by volunteers. Plenty of parking, clean toilets and a lovely, clean and spacious cafe (Aylsham). Well equipped gift shop, and a nice little charity shop on Platform 2. Enjoyed a very well oiled return journey from Aylsham to Wroxham at £13.50 per adult. You get the full steam engine experience in a miniature version, the rattle, the steam and smell of the coke burning. Thoroughly enjoyed it, I would highly recommend. See website for timetable, you can have a short stay at your destination or a three hour stop over (that's the same, if travelling to Aylsham or Wroxham).
R. H.
I had a lovely day out, and it's quite good value considering the amount of time spent on the trains. Highly recommended.
N. P. (. P.
Great for everyone! Our grandchildren loved the "little train" and got really excited when the watched it being turned around.
J. D.
Great value for money and the staff were lovely. My 3 children really enjoyed it (as did I)
V. I.
Nice railway good train journey.
3 engines in steam and a stationary diesel..
Decent cafe and shops at Aylsham.
Cafe at Wroxham not so good .
k. h.
Had a lovely trip - the only problem was there is no where to go at the other end the cafe didn’t allow dogs
I. M.
Took our 3 grandchildren to the Easter egg hunt. They really enjoyed it and our 3 year old granddaughter was fascinated by the model train set in the gift shop. Lovely family day out
D. J.
Very good engines
M. W.
Interesting journey, only slight set was no price list for journeys at ticket office
S. R.
Very relaxing way to enjoy the railway & the views. Lovely tea shop at Aylsham and Wroxham is very pretty with plenty to do & lots of restaurants. Reasonably priced for a lovely way to travel. Felt very safe as each party has its own compartment and plastic screens separate people.
A. G.
Nice little ride, not a great landscape to view but the joy of the little ones do compensate 😊
R. D.
An absolutely fantastic day out for anyone with a love of steam.
M. O.
Friendly staff, nice ride to Aylsham. An hr there is plenty,as only small town. We ate at station.
T. S.
Lovely train journey to wroxham , helpful staff and great views on the way
C. M.
Wroxham railway is a small gauge steam railway. The engines and carriages are small and cosy. My wife and I are over 6 ft each and carrying some holiday weight and we fitted in fine with our 2 year old and baby.
We took the train from Aylsham to Wroxham on a return. It's not the worst priced day out and the track is just over 5 miles so if you have a train lover it is worth it.
A thought may be to train one way and walk back. There is a woodland path that follows the line, you get the views of Norfolk countryside and see the train come passed.
Again worth it.
R. Y.
Great little railway with very friendly staff
b. e.
Lovely ride through the countryside
p. c.
Cramped, small four person carriages, not really suited for OAPs. More enjoyable for children.
M. Y.
Worth every penny 45 minute journey comfortable carriage
P. M.
Everyone should take a ride on a steam train at least once in their life, even if it isn't a full size one!
Wroxham has free parking. Not sure about other stations. Book ahead during busy periods as the train is popular and may well be full.
The trip was enjoyable, lovely scenery and lovely towns - the nice weather helped. There just isn't enough time in the day to experience everything, so we will be coming back for another trip.
Dog friendly train too, so don't let your furry friend miss out.
S. W.
Friendly staff, clean, well maintained railway, lovely views.......... recommended :)
J. D.
We had a great day on the train then a walk around Wroxham before heading back.
The railway and Wroxham are both dog friendly too
D. T.
Great day out with great scenery as you go through the countryside with all the fun of the steam train and a good shop and refreshments in the cafeteria
D. B.
Plenty of free parking. Really good model shop. Great experience on train ride. Lovely helpful staff.
D. h.
Friendly staff on a great little railway. All social distancing strictly adhere too. Thanks for lovely morning
M. P.
Very good trip then lovely tea & cakes at Aylsham Station. However the staff at Wroxham & a lady train driver were so kind to my friend who fell. They got a wheelchair & wheeled my friend to a taxi for us. Their courtesy was incredible & all the staff are so kind. Pay them a visit it is well worth it.
H. R.
Great day out, real good fun, railway walk or cycle is good too.
M. H.
The staff are a credit to the railway & facilities clean & spotless, The train is narrow gauge so not the smoothest rides & the seating a bit hard for a rickety journey
J. B.
Nice day out on a steam train
S. W.
Lovely experience very helpful staff nice clean cafe the food was homemade and delicious 😋

We planned this trip prior to going away and I am so pleased we followed it through. The train journey was great fun. The cleaning regime on the train was unbelievable. That and the way they have put distancing measures in place. The trains run accurately on time, so don't think this is your local train service and turn up late as u will miss ur slot.
Great shop at Aylsham with plenty of things that will interest the railway buff. I loved it and if in the area will certainly visit again.
A. A.
I had two under 5s it was a lovely experience as well as the train there was a brio train in the shop to play with, a toy train running and a model railway. We could get up close to the engine.
L. H.
Great train ride my son loved it and it was a long journey best day out ever he said lovely little shops to look in and had a meal but that wasn't great at whistle stop.
J. E.
Excellent service great staff and very good value for money.
S. M.
We did a last minute group booking and everyone had a fantastic time.
Thank you
K. L.
Narrow gauge railway, running mostly steam engines. Prepare little one for a 45 minute train ride as it can get boring for some.
Very clean carriages, smart engines, decent cafe at one end of the line, super helpfull staff!!
M. S. (.
Beautifully kept railway. Great value for money. I loved every minute of my visit.
M. M.
Long ride through country side. nice station @ both ends with cafe model railway & workshops to look into. well stocked shop with loads of goodies.
M. S. (.
We all love the steam train, kids were fascinated by it.
I. M.
Fantastic little railway.
J. L.
Great ride ....friendly and helpful staff
Great model shop as well...
Y. H.
Nice journey. Excellent 2nd hand bookshop at Wroxham Station. Steam engine, photo of a diesel engine.
R. H.
Very friendly and well organised conservation railway running steam and diesel services. Book in advance and excellent covid precautions. Service supports all passengers, families, young children, disabled and all dogs are welcome. Good free car park. Nice cafe with reason prices.
45 minute journey Aylsham to Wroxam. Nice country route but note as time has passed the field hedges/embankments along the track side have become taller and overgrown making it difficult to see beyond them.
A. O.
,we had a great time there the grandchildren loved it
A. C.
Fantastic steam run. Worth the money and worth the trip
J. H.
A lovely time on this train, made a very nice treat with the rubbish weather. Very covid safe.
J. B.
Fun little train for kids big and small. Wheelchair accessable carriage (although I am not sure whether wheelchair can embark and disembark at all intermediate stations). Great second hand bookshop at Wroxham
a. g.
Very good book shop next door to this. Great for a weekend away read.
J. D.
Enjoyed our trip from Wroxham to Aylsham. Something different and lovely to be on a steam train. Good cafe and great gift shop.
J. S.
Great steam train ride a good hour well worth the money. Think it was 30 for two people
K. G.
Very well looked after railway. Unfortunately we arrived to late in the day to travel. Still a very enjoyable visit
P. B.
Despite a wet and windy day this was a great way to spend time with our wonderful grandson. Staff at the railway were really kind and welcoming.
G. W.

Really enjoyed this "miniature" choo choo, great value for money and would do it again.
J. R.
An interesting visit several narrow gauge engines coupled with nine miles of track.
K. E.
Amazing day out, exactly what we needed.
J. N.
Super volunteer staff. Fabulous countryside and a gorgeous little loco.
K. G. -. m.
First trip out since March and felt very safe. Carriages all spaced out and social distancing measures in place. A very pleasant experience all round. Our children also had a lovely time and it was so good to enjoy some safe family time.
J. M.
Lovely train ride on a small train.
L. d.
Really fun mini railway suitabe for both adults and children alike. Accessibility to the station and embarking trains is very good, and free parking at both stations is a great bonus. I visited while strict Covid protocols were still being observed - each train compartment had screens to shield individual parties, and all touch points were being sanitised at the end of each journey. The scenery is excellent across the whole line, including some level corssings, tunnels and wide open fields. All stations have a distinct vintage feel. Both terminus stations have toilet and baby changing facilities, along with gift shops and small cafes. A must see if you visit Wroxham!
J. O. B.
Very quaint and pleasant train journey through the Norfolk countryside
C. L.
Lovely scenery. Great staff and journey
N. W.
Lovely experience, and staff were really friendly and helpful.
S. T.
Nice ride and very well organised experience.
R. D.
Great day out on the railway, adult fare £15 return
T. B.
Great day out especially if you have children
R. H.
How cool can you get? A trip through the Norfolk countryside with the sounds and smell of steam. The bonus is the small carriages make you feel like Hagrid on the Howarts express.
I. H.
Lovely trip to Sandringham.good weather so great to sit in the gardens and enjoy Prince Charles ideas of the wild flower gardens.so full of colours.inside the house where our queen lives is just stunning in cream and gold colour.i recommend a visit to all ages.
S. B.
Wonderful experience. Felt completely safe. Staff all very friendly and stations very clean. A lot of hard work has gone into this to make it work so smoothly. Would definitely return if back in Wroxham
S. H.
Lovely way to see the North Norfolk countryside...
J. K.
It's very good and at only £16.00 return, good value.
We need to support these voluntary run operations!
L. B.
Was a pleasant trip the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
G. S.
Interesting ride on narrow gauge railway to Aylsham.
L. Q.
Excellent railway 15 miles long all very well organised. Refreshments available at cafes.
B. L.
A great way to spend a few hours. Travelling by narrow gauge railway is a splendid way to see the local countryside. The stations' memorabilia shops and bookstalls, especially in Aylsham, are worth a visit too.
I. S.
4 adults and 3 dogs had a great day out on the Brue valley railway. The staff were extremely pleasant, accomodating and knowlegeable. Highly recommended.
R. S.
Lovely day out. Great for kids. You have to pay for dogs if you take them. Some stops closed due to covid. About 35 minutes end to end.
D. Q.
Fantastic narrow gauge railway.
Well worth the trip.
Cycle / footpath all the way alongside the track.
Great, friendly staff. Easy walk into Wroxham from the station.
T. W.
Well arranged to ensure Covid safety and a pleasant way to see some North Norfolk countryside. No matter what end of the line you start, both Hoveton/Wroxham and Aylsham have enough to explore to while away a couple of hours before returning.
Expensive for a train journey but as a 'leisure experience' pretty good.
L.
Again brilliant day out for everyone will be back next year
D. “. B.
Great little railway, reasonably priced. Booking recommended to avoid disappointment. Friendly & helpful staff. Free parking and good amenities. Great shop and model railway store at competitive prices.
D. T.
Nice little trip on the railway followed by a trip on the Broads. Well worth a visit.
P. H.
Good value for money regular service for the lover's of steam trains staff friendly and helpful we had not booked online but able to buy tickets. Will take the grandchildren next time good experience for all ages
E. D.
One of the best railways I have been on in ages. 45 mins up the line and also return. Very Covid secure as the train carriages were deep cleaned each time.
S. U.
Did not have time to go on the train but took some photos.
A. C.
Superb small gauge railway with excellent covid policies in place. Cafe had excellent choice and staff were friendly and helpful. Different trains taking you back and forth which was a plus point for our children. A good day out for a young family
J. H.
Well worth the ride from Wroxham to Aylsham for a look round and lunch and back (5 Min walk to the town centre from the station). I imagine doing it the other way from Aylsham to Wroham is equally as rewarding. Ideal trains which you can sit inside the carriage out of the weather.
L. S.
Great trip, friendly, helpful staff.
A.
Lovely day sightseeing train was really fun and even the dog loved it
S. S.
Great small railway well organised as a disabled traveller hadn't realized the we had to book the mobility scooter very helpful lady sorted it all out so that I could travel at no extra cost carriage are cleaned in between friendly staff nothing to much trouble xx
C. K.
Staff were excellent wheel chair access and push chair and they allow dogs on the train good day out
E. S.
Delightful ride along the Bure Valley Railway today, my two boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They even had a seat with the driver in the cab!
J. R.
Great experience through some scenic countryside
P. S.
Great experience even if your not a train fanatic
P. G.
Great staff amazing service and very knowledgeable
I. M.
A very enjoyable day out, about 50 mins each way between Wroxham and Aylsham and a great model train shop at Aylsham Station for BVR. Well worth a visit if you love trains.
B. E.
What a lovely nostalgic way to see the countryside, good parking, easy access for those with limited mobility including carriages that are easy to get a wheelchair or buggy into. Stop off at various locations and explore further into the countryside. Last stop has a lovely cafe to relax and eat before your return journey, this is a real little gem to go to. Shop in Wroxham too before or after your trip. Very relaxing and exciting train journey for little kids and big kids!
P. S.
It was brilliant, unfortunately the railway wasn't running but they have a great model railway shop on site and also a cafe
E. L. L.
Lovely little trip. Carriages and toliet facility so clean. Staff helpful and really friendly. Great day trip kids loved it and v relaxing for adults
I. R.
Had a ride through the bure valley on the narrow gauge railway to Wroxham and then a two hour cruise on norfolk broads and then back to Aylsham on the train.
A great day out what's not to be missed.
D. B.
Our 6 and 3 year old boys said this was triple amazing. Lovely ride on the train which seemed much quicker than 45 minutes in a very comfortable carriage. We had a nice walk i to Aylsham before and had some lunch but theree is a cafe on site that looks well priced. We did the return ticket with the boat tour and it's been a great day out. There are loads of carriages so we didn't have any problem finding somewhere to sit. The shop is a bit pricey but it's expected at these kind of places, and the staff were all really friendly
J. C.
Excellent value for money, staff so helpful as Im a wheelchair user and couldnt help more if they tried. However when at Wroxham the main shops are approx 2 miles away so walking shoes required 🤣🤣🤣
A. S.
Lovely railway, beautiful miniature 15 gauge trains with spacious carriages. The shop at this location is pretty good, more so if your into model railway building as they are stocked with a plethora of supplies. Nice spacious cafe with fairly decent scones and sandwiches. Staff are very friendly and happy to chat.
L. M.
This was a really nice trip the stations had been decorated for Christmas, imagine scenery would be lovely in the summer. Staff helpful and friendly we also had a meal at Aylsham which was the best Christmas dinner I have had this year. Would be really good trip to take children on .
M. B.
This is a great little station with plenty to see if you are a steam rail / maid rail enthusiast. They also have a very well sticked model railway and souvenirs shop. To boot, the staff are very helpful, my father left his mobile on the train by accident and the staff recovered it and kept it safe until we could get back for it. The actual train journey is very good as well and well worth your time and money to do it at least once.
p. d.
Lovely views to be had while travelling on the Bure Valley Railway.
Travelling time from Aylsham to Wroxham takes 45 minutes.
W. P.
Staff warm and welcoming. If you are into trains a very good place.
V. W.
Haven't travelled on it yet. Wanted to check out the social distancing in the carriages. This looks to be OK.
A. K. (.
Delightful narrow gauge steam railway which gives an hours ride from Wroxham to Aylsham (and back). Well organised covid safety measures. Great for kids, grown ups and oldies
D. L. M.
Lovely little railway great for filming.
I. R.
Great day out with the grand daughter.
T. O.
The best thing about this place is the second hand book shop. It is very well run and very reasonable priced. I did not find the railway that interesting. I do not understand why they chose a narrow gauge train. It does not really fit the place. Having said that, the ride was holiday highlight among our children, and it seems very popular.
T. M.
very well run, friendly staff, covid safe. dog friendly. thoroughly enjoyable. Wroxham is an interesting destination with lots of places to eat lunch
D. F.
Lovely little railway. The staff were exceptional in helping me with my wheelchair, thank you.
Well recommended.
i. w.
Quaint but extremely over priced. £60 for four adults ? No, not worth that. Should be half that , at the minimum. Free tea and coffee and a meal should have been included for that exorbitant price.
B. M.
Great day out! We loved the steam train, felt very safe and cosy having our own little part of the train. Very easy to use, friendly staff and would highly reccomend
W.
On booked tickets we went, all was easy to follow a lovely ride down the line and around Wroxham watching the boats sail past shopping too well worth a visit
B. M.
I've not been on a steam train since I was a child, the memorys it relight was wonderful and very heart warming more so now with our world in such a turmoil. There are safety measures on the trains that make you feel very protected and marsks must be worn in the station. Wc was very clean and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. And I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Bure Valley Railway.
E. A.
Loved the whole experience. Well appointed station, cafe, gift shop and facilities. It was a delight to travel through the scenic countryside. We should be proud of this little railway and the people who devote their time and talents.
W. J.
A fun family day out , well recommended. Amazing miniature steam engines.
K. J.
Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Kids loved the Santa experience, great day out.
M. C.
Cute railway station with friendly staff. We didnt go in the train this time but will do next opportunity we have. We had an ice cream instead and walked to the river for a picnic
L. L.
Charming experience..great little train and really nice staff . All spotlessly clean and Corona secure .
Agree with earlier post that due to the train going through cuttings the view is partially blocked at times but still worth the trip and the trains were all booked.
J. B.
Railway was enjoyable, lovely day out. Only thing I would suggest that the cafe in Aylsham should be more equipped to deal with the influx of people coming in when they know the trains coming, low on chips and ran out of sausage rolls. Lovely steam train, picturesque journey, friendly staff.
A. F.
45 minute journey through lovely countryside
L. W.
Top day out try the boat trip as well
K. P.
Very enjoyable round trip, with the the added bonus of a guided heritage tour round parts of, historical Aylesham, on the 1st, and 3rd Wednesday of the month. The staff were friendly and helpful. You can visit the workshop, purchase railway and model railway items, and obtain welcome refreshments at the café. All this on top of an enjoyable trip along the countryside along the Bure valley.
K. B.
Dog friendly mini steam train ride. Even though only the two end stops were in use we had a lovely time on the railway. Thanks to all the staff for being so friendly
R. B.
Excellent narrow gauge railway. Dogs are also allowed
B. O.
Sweet little place run by volunteers nice peopl
N. S.
Well worth a visit. especially in these difficult times. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The train journey itself was a pleasurable journey. Would be very happy to visit again when next in the area.
c. B.
Great way to spend some time visiting the Broads. Walk or cycle the line along the foot path at the side and ride back after exploring the other end. Even better do the ride out canoe paddle back, it's fantastic and you don't need any experience. the brochures are slightly misleading as there's canoes that will easily take a family of four even with rucksacks for picnics etc . Stop and explore the river Bure as often as you like, takes a couple of hours. GREAT.
J. K.
We took the kids on the train whilst on holiday, they loved it. Luckily the carriages are enclosed as it rained. We were a bit rushed for the return journey as the train was late lol even on a mini railway. Great fun for the kids.
P.
Lovely trip through the countryside, the staff and volunteers do a great job maintaining the railway and the trains...and you can't beat the smell of a steam engine!!!
C. F.
Fantastic and safe day out from aylesham to wroxham and back again!!! Staff so welcoming and reassuring. I am so impressed at how they have managed to adapt to current times and keep the magic alive for little train lovers!!!!!
G.
Amazing trip on the railway done it when I was younger and done it with my girlfriend lovely day out in the train! You can also bring your dog which is good! Very friendly staff
S. S.
Very friendly staff with a good model railway shop and good prices. Lovely engines and good carriages in which to enjoy a pleasant journey.
S. P.
The staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive. Well organised with allocated carriages. A great time for all of us.
C. W.
Nice little railway
B. R.
From booking... You get own segregated screened carriage...through the great train ride... To the good socially distancing at station Cafe in Aylsham... Friendly team.. all made for a great trip with grandchildren.
R. A.
Great fun and a scenic route to Aylesbury and back to Wroxham
P. H.
Very good covid control
S. S.
Really enjoyable ride on the railway through Norfolk countryside.
A. N.
Good day out, combined rail and boat trip ticket is good value. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Free parking available at the station. Cafe and shop on site help to pass the time while waiting for the train.
K. C.
Great station at end of Bure valley train journey .good little cafe/shop ,great selection of model trains at gd prices .very friendly ,old worldy ,clean and maintains that old fashioned bygone atmosphere .
J. P.
A great day out for the family. Dogs welcome too which was a bonus. Very well organised for current pandemic times and easy to stay separate. Would highly recommend.
S. H.
Tho it was raining, the staff at both stations were were really nice and helpful and the train ride it self was great about 45mins each way.
S.
Great fun whatever your age.
M. M.
Lovely 9 mile trip through the countryside. Nice clean stations with cafe and shop. Staff helpful and friendly
A. M.
Quite a great experience. The narrow gauge railway is fantastic as it allows the train to snake through the countryside. The platforms and stations at the ends is good too, with the cute little water tower.
K. S.
Nice journey on the train. Sadly didn't have time to do it justice and travel to the other end of line so stopped halfway and returned. Good book and DVD shop at wroxham station - everything £1
G. W.
Fantastic day out and really Covid safe.
M. C.
If you love trains you'll love this
R. C.
fabulous little railway everything you'd expect from a little steam train line the rocking clickerty click noise takes you back to the olden days an absolute pleasure to travel on very reasonably priced and in conjunction with the boat trip a lovely super day out .
only down side you have to walk to the boat trip which is fine as flat but not very well signposted and small map given not written very well direction a bit misleading .
P. W.
A lovely trip. Covid secure. Even sanitizing the carriages at the end of each trip. 3 trains running along 45 minute journey across beautiful Norfolk countryside.
E. B.
I have driven to Wroxham many times over the years to go shopping and take a boat trip. They we took the narrow gage train from Aylsham to Wroxham. The Wroxham station is lovely and clean. The toilets are new and clean. The volunteer bookshop had some great books to pick up and we had an ice cream from the shop before heading back. Great way to spend the day.
S. L.
Lovely train ride, good value for money and kids enjoyed the activity sheet provided
M. J.
I travelled on the first journey of the day on Bank Holiday Monday, on the Bure Valley Railway. It started in Aylsham and went to Wroxham. It was very exhilarating and beautiful. The locomotive that took us was the John of Gaunt. The staff showed their pride in the railway with the extensive knowledge of the track, rolling stock and the countryside.it made the journey so much more enjoyable. My partner and our dog combined the the Train journey with Broads Cruise.
We travelled on the Vintage Broadsman. The crew were very helpful and made the journey much more pleasurable with a commentary that was also informative and humorous.
We travelled back with the locomotive called Spitfire. Just the smell of the steam and smoke brought back our journeys in our past.
I can heartily recommend the trip, either in full or in parts.
A. T.
Always great fun... We go a few times a year. So lucky to have such a great attraction on the door step! Time in Wroxham is always well spent and a beautiful place to visit.
E. M.
A great trip with the beautiful smell of the steam engine. Had a very nice light lunch in the cafe at Aylsham.
J. l.
Lovely walk along by railway line. Halloween special running, children waving as they chug by on spooky express. Nice second hand book shop at station, coffee available from bookshop. Nice little station and signal box.
X. X. P.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Only Downside is, we have lived in the local area for just under 5 years and first time visited. Our fault, but will visit again, soon. Nice, safe, walk alongside the train track (tracks are fenced off) and the train staff waive and blow the whistle, when they pass. A MUST for anyone who wants to travel between Wroxham and Aylsham (or vica-versa).
C. D.
An excellent day out! Even when it's raining. A very well run railway!
S. W.
Great fun for all the family you won't be disappointed
L. L.
£80 for 3 adults and a child train and cruise. Very long day but everyone enjoyed themselves. Train 45 mins each way and 2 hours on a pleasant boat along the Norfolk more.
A. A.
Great way to experience a nostalgic time of steam travel through beautiful countryside. Helpful friendly staff with a passion in their work.
G.
Easter egg specials were run and with good weather the grandchildren had a good time
S. J.
Lovely, well maintained, long distance narrow gauge steam train. What's not to love? Clearly gets enough business to keep it up to scratch and a pretty useful route running along an old branch line path makes for a wonderful experience.
A. T.
Lovely narrow-gauge railway, set in lovely countryside.
Refreshments available at both ends. Staff very helpful and polite.
M. I.
Enjoyed my trip on the little train and coffee and cake at terminus nice gift shop especially if you are a train enthusiast
T. W.
Nice little train pity most of track is in a cut
M. R.
Had a great day on Bure Railway. Surprise for my husband.well worth a visit.
S. G.
The folks running this railway are clearly passionate about what they do. I feel for them this is more than just a job. Thank you for a lovely day.
N. J.
What a wonderful place to visit even if you're not a steam train or railway enthusiast. I took my family on the train to Wroxham from Aylsham. When we arrived the lady on the desk recognised that we could have saved money on a family ticket she offered a refund for the difference or money off in the onsite cafe. We had coffee and cake before the train ride which was lovely in the very warm and welcoming cafe. The main reception had memorabilia and hobby trains to buy also the engineering yard is open to view all the repairs to existing steam engines. The journey too 45 minutes which allows you to take in the perfect rural Norfolk. I would recommend this to any family also it's a perfect way to travel along the Bure Valley.
S.
Beautiful place to visit for train enthusiasts and families. There is quite alot of parking and everything is very accessible. There are also some lovely picnic tables around the station for a pitstop. Definitely somewhere to visit if your in the area.
M. P.
Nice book shop with good quality second hand books. Obviously a good selection of train and model train magazines and books. If you avoid the route along the main road and follow the track after leaving the station it's a nice walk along the river to get to Wroxham.
P. N.
Worth going to see the trains but very expensive for a family. £35 for a return ticket for a family of 4. Www can get to London and back from Grantham for that. As I said good to experience once but wouldn't return for a second visit. The gift shops are expensive too, ( but always are), what really annoyed me was the ice cream lollies which were marked on the pack with a rrp of £1but charged at £1.30 when I quiried this I was told it was only a recommended price - children do not understand this.
B. M.
Lovely journey with good scenari. Great customer service.
A. F.
Nice little journey, well maintained trains and friendly staff
K. G.
Great journey. Plenty to see en route. Especially as it was leading up to Halloween, so our grandson had to look out for Ghosts, Pumpkins and Witches. Would definitely recommend.
D. L.
Lovely day out. Recommended Aylsham to Wroxham return, as Wroxham is a nice place to spend few hours.
R. P.
Great little railway, from Aylsham to Wroxham. Good secondhand bookshop on Wroxham station. Easy online ticketing and great covid security
R. W.
Very highly recommended. Wonderful staff and volunteers. McMillan coffee morning in the very nice supporters shop which full of secondhand books. Will certainly be visiting again 😁😁
l. c.
Very nice place, went with my mum who was in a wheelchair, and we took our dog.Staff very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
C. F.
Great day out with Grandchildren. 2 year old train nut loved it. Staff all lovely and we felt safe in these Covid times.
M. S.
A great railway and a fantastic ride through lovely countryside. The staff were fantastic with our 2yo son, even let him sit in the engine.
R. C.
I really enjoyed my day here, with a nice train ride to Aylsham and back. A well run narrow gauge railway with good facilities and plenty of car parking space. And As I understand mostly run by volunteers , we'll done
L. M.
Great little railway. No stop off's along the 45min journey made it a tad tiresome for little fidgeters. World of miniatures worth a visit at the other end of the line.
R. P.
Always great to have a train ride on a steam train even better nice long track through the lovely countryside well worth the visit I fully enjoyed my time with these guys
J. B.
Great little railway with good facilities and nice themed days.
l. l.
Great thing to do with all the family.
C. E.
Buffer book shop is great. Wonderful and helpful staff.
C. T.
Spotted that they were having an 'open' weekend featuring lots of model railway stuff as well as a full service on the feature 15" line. Lovely ride through the countryside to Alysham and back. The engineering shed was open to look round, lots of model railway enthusiasts to chat to. The adjacent signal box at Wroxham was also open so had a lesson on how the old signalling systems worked. This is run by a separate trust and not directly connected with the Bure Valley Railway.
A. C.
Fantastic little steam train, beautiful journey and very polite and very helpful staff, great day ride
P. O.
Superb little steam railway ride
J. U.
A great way to spend a soggy day in Norfolk. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the journey beautiful. They even allow dogs on board.
R. B.
Lovely miniature, but surprisingly spacious old-style steam-train. It's great, but would be better privacy-wise if there some walls between each compartment within each carriage.
J. F.
Excellent 'small' railway for children and adults and very good value at £15 for the return journey.
J. D.
A very quaint little railway, we enjoyed the ride.
The coffee in the station cafe was not great though.
P. B.
Friendly staff were very helpful. Train runs to aylsham and back, stopping at some small stations on the way.
It's also possibly to get a combined train and broads cruise ticket.
The station has a nice second hand bookshop, where you can buy hot drinks (from machine).
P. W.
On holiday staying in aylsham so it was good to walk to the railway. Good choice of refreshments before catching the train. Lovely scenic ride to Wroxham. Friendly staff at both stations.
M. O.
Great trip out. 45 mins each way journey between Aylsham and Wroxham through beautiful countryside. Staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.
H. F.
Lovely little railway. Great for kids. Lovely shop & cafe. Usual covid measures in place, but done well. Will return asap. Recommended
M. H.
Nice small station with amenities. We used the narrow gauge steam trains to travel from Buxton. Adjacent to the main train station. This is the last stop. The changeover of the engine to connect to the opposite side of the coaches to go back is a treat to watch. It is all done manually, the engine rotated front to back.
R. h.
Enjoyable ride on The Bure Valley Railway .
A. O.
Chugga Chugga Chu Chu what more can I say
B. E.
Clean and tidy, friendly staff and a great ride to Wroxham and back. 5 minute walk from station to Wroxham centre for a bite to eat and to see the boats. Great day out
C. G. (.
Really loved this little gauge railway. Well worth the money. If you combine the train and trip round the broads ((£20 per adult)2017) it is well worth the money. Highly recommended
A. M.
Amazing place with equally amazing staff and volunteers. Always have a great time when we visit.
J. S.
Brilliant trip - friendly staff, lovely journey and meticulous cleansing and compliance with Covid requirements. Wonderful experience....
E. M.
Excellent service from Catherine and Brenda.lovely to see Catherine again.Train ride was also very good.see you next year.
J. S.
Great activity to do with my toddler. She loved it!
M. S.
Great little railway! Great staff very helpful and friendly! Hop on and enjoy the ride from Wroxham to Aylsham. The kids will love it!
F. K.
Great fun for little train enthusiasts. The two stations could do with a little more history for the rail fans to digest.
S. R.
Loved it! Great experience for the whole family -the trains are so sweet
S. D.
A well run railway by friendly people. Well kept and clean. Covid-19 procedures, excellent. A good way to see Wroxham and Aylsham and the surrounding countryside.
J. W.
We loved our little train rides. A great way to spend the afternoon.
K. I.
Lovely steam train, although a bit hot today. Lovely cafe at the end of the line efficient and friendly staff. Not over priced either, which is nice to see.
J. 0.
Excellent miniture railway experience. 40 minutes Aylsham to Wroxham. Reasonably priced...scenery maybe not quite as picturesque as the North Norfolk Railway but we'll worth a visit..
J. D.
Good experience great for kids

Small scale steam railway that has all the attractions of it's bigger cousins and it has the advantage that it travels a good length. Allows you to visit pretty stops on request and connects with broads tours via a short walk.

Fantastic start to a day out. Combined ticket for train from Aylsham and river cruise at Wroxham. Railway staff great, trains great coffee in cafe superb. Use it as a park and ride as Wroxham parking poor.

A nice gently ride through the countryside. Very friendly staff. Covid precautions in place
S. C.
Bought up with steam trains, was lovely to go on one again albeit a half size one....they do a lovely job and well worth it especially if you do the cruise as well

Lovely ride on the santa steam train! Santa was great and they even put on a magician. Would recommend very warm clothing as even with the heaters on it was a bit chilly!

An underrated narrow gauge railway were the locos sound like main line locos. Comfortable padded seats, except for the tip-up seats in the "Special Saloons", which are designed to carry 4 wheelchairs.
Workshop normally open to public.
Shop and café open every day except Christmas day and Boxing Day.

We travelled from Aylsham to Wroxham then we had a cruise around the local broads. We throughly enjoyed the experience. Our dog had her own ticket too.

Steam railway from market town of Aylsham to Broads Village of Wroxham
Lovely trip -each way takes approx 50 mins
We went from Aylsham to Wroxham and back but you can obviously do reverse
You can get a combined ticket to include boat trip from Wroxham but we didn't do this so can't comment
Large free car park at Aylsham (and I believe Wroxham has free car park too)
Coffee shop at Aylsham
Gift shops at both locations
D. B.
Had a nice train ride arriving at Wroxham. Not much at the station. Watched the engine being turned on the turntable. Walked into Wroxham for pleasant boat trip on broads.

Narrow gauge railway. The trains are very long so the most interesting bits ....the engines are not the easiest to see. A pleasant enough ride through countryside and the nostalgic smell of steam .

Great little railway and combined boat trip , sit near the engine for that authentic steam train smell , and remember to get back from the boat trip before they lock the gates or your car will get locked in .
M. R.
technical hitch made journies difficult but staff looked after needy ones very well so visit not spoiled. need to question ethics when no reduced rate for seniors, disabled nor carers. that's strange.
A. T.
Been a few times, polite and very friendly staff. Next time, I'll have to take the train! (forgot to check the timetable and went when the trains weren't running!)
