Reviews of Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden
E. S.
Really great little find, naturally beautiful and sympathetically maintained woodlands. Lovely cafe with delicious food, cakes and ice cream. Ample parking and so peaceful, even though plenty of families/couples/dogs etc there. Pram and wheelchair friendly and a lovely gentle walk.
S. Y.
Lovely walks through lush forest with views of the broads. The paths are well laid out and easy to walk on. Loved the little areas dotted about for fairies. Boat rides are possible. Super cafe serving light lunches, cakes.

* Will keep adding photos of this wonderful place at different times of the year*
Fairhaven is one of those rare special places that you can visit at different times of the year and catch nature and wildlife in different stages. Always well maintained with very helpful staff. Reasonable entry price but even better value if you buy a season ticket. Nice cafe too. One of my favourite places to visit away from the busy world.
E. R.
A delightful few hours was spent exploring the garden. The winding paths took us through the woods and along the streams leading to a wonderful view of the Broads. Irises and candelabra were in full bloom and many other plants had been added. A volunteer Warden we met on the shore of the Broad shared with us some of his vast knowledge of wildlife. Refreshments were available on our return to the Centre.
Well worth a visit!
V. C.
Beautiful and serene place. Great to walk in nature. Enjoyed coffer and cake in the cafe stop, and also liked looking round the gift shop. Great day out for all the family.
D. W.
A peaceful woodland haven in the fens. Not so much a garden as a managed landscape with some magnificent trees and an understory including hydrangeas and wet-loving plants.
Modetately busy on a Saturday afternoon in August. Booking is wise, even an hour before as it's also cheaper than the price on the gate.
Dogs are welcome on leads and with plenyy of bind there was no mess at all.
Being busy, birds and squirrels were scarce but there are a lot of dragonflies and aquatic insects.
The gift shop us very good, with a modest plant sale area.
T. S.
1st time at fairhaven woodland park and I am gutted I haven't been her before ! So many wonderful different walks to do to keep little ones busy. We took our dog as well, which is very much welcomed with water stops and poo bins along the way around. We will definitely return
V. J.
Lovely place to walk round.
Plants for sale quite poor quality really a d messily displayed.
Restaurant was lovely and busy so a good sign.
Over all a lovely quiet place to wander and worth the money...
We took the longest route and spent a morning here
S. A.
Children loved seeing the lights decorating the woodland and toasting marshmallows on the mini campfires.
Just a shame we had booked for a wet evening but couldn't fault the venue. Staff were friendly and helpful, just could have done with making use of a little more of the space there for the lights
C. B.
Such a peaceful place, wonderful walks meandering through beautiful trees & gardens leading to the Broads, we took a lovely boat trip! Dog friendly too!
D. C.
Lovely place to walk on a nice day.. Patos are reasonably for most people including wheelchairs. Very tranquil setting. Nice cafe and plant sales area.
J. G.
Beautiful gardens with 3 different routes. There is a lovely lake connected also. The cafe even stocks a small amount of groceries.
K. L.
Fantastic excursion in early June. We asked a passing volunteer (in a mobility scooter) about some of the wildlife. He was fantastic in explaining the wildlife that we saw and shared great tips on what to look out for.
C. R.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. I loved it so much the first time I was back within a week and had become a member. Beautiful wildlife and such friendly staff, can't tell you how much I love it here!
R. W.
Fairhaven Woodland & Water Gardens was created by Major Henry Broughton 1947 after he bought the grounds of a hall that had been a convalescent home for officers & where the local Home Guard trained. Since 1975, a charitable trust... & a cool place on a hot day like today. Beautifiul place with easy paths, plenty of seats & picnic tables, plant shop. gifts & bistro. Lots of free parking too.
C. S.
Beautiful, peaceful place. Amazing wildlife and loads of butterflies if you take your time and look out :)
S. B.
Ancient woodland with winding pathways. Pleasant walks around with information on trees and wildlife followed by a busy tea shop serving home cooked food.
W. J.
Pretty place, doesn't take as long as we expected to walk round it but still worth a visit
E. M.
An amazing day. Loved the boat trip on Fairhaven Broad. Thoroughly recommend visiting Fairhaven Water Gardens.
I. L.
Beautiful find. Go during the day and when the kids are in school. Also can food and great service.
a. l.
Nice relaxing place to wander through and have a nice boat ride two coffee shops to take a nice break
R. C.
Visited when on holiday in Norfolk its a fantastic place plenty to sea and do, the trailes we went on were all accessible. Hopefully we will get to visit again.
S. W.
Bit off beaten track and not signposted Lovely walk woods lake wildlife etc.
Tearoom was very good
Paths narrow and uneven in places
S. R.
Great place to visit and lose yourself in the area, boat trip is great as well. Nice cafe too.
C. B.
Beautiful day filled with wonderful photo opportunity’s. Walking the black star route is listed as 1 1/2 hours which seems like a long walk but with so much to look at and investigate with the kids it’s soon over. Only frustration is people not being more proactive and picking up after their dogs on the trails or at least flicking it off the path into the undergrowth.
H. H.
An enjoyable peaceful walk, I think it may be more impressive a month earlier as a lot of the flowers were dying off. Some parts slightly muddy too so sensible footwear would be ideal .
m. h.
A lovely peaceful garden leading to the broads. Gentle meandering walks with lots of mature trees. We saw a tree creeper and many butterflies. Took the boat trip as well which was relaxing. Cafe served some excellent quiches. Pleasantly surprised particularly as they accepted our 2 for1 card
D. T.
A really well kept beautiful garden. Loved the woodland feel. We came with our toddler and she had a great time running around on the paths, which are fairly even and not too mucky.
The cafe is small, but food looks great and the tea was lovely. Would come again for sure!
N. V.
We only stayed for a coffee in the garden but the cakes in the cafe looked yummy.
C. P.
Nice little place 4 a walk ,dogs are also allowed if on a lead ,there are 3 different trail lengths ,30 mins 45 mins and 1 hr 30mins , a good selection of food and drinks at the cafe .
C. S.
A beautifully peaceful and tranquil place to take a walk & a picnic.
R. A.
Lovely walk through woodland. Ideal for dog's in the hot weather
T. M.
Fairhaven remains a hidden gem in the Norfolk countryside. Within the woodland surround lies a beautiful garden of winding paths, flowers, trees and wildlife, culminating in several view points and picnic spots that look over the Norfolk Broads. Wild birds, deer, rabbits, and an abundance of insect life everywhere. The path is accompanied by a bear trail to keep children (of all ages!) happy, a cafe and a plant shop.
Some areas are off limits at the moment due to Covid restrictions, and you must prebook, but it's still a beautiful visit!
D. R.
Just a shame no flowers, and a bit unkempt. Brought duck food but no Ducks, swans or any birds for that matter. Cafe very nice and clean, good food and dogs very welcome out side and under the verandah. But it is a wooded park, but picture show lots of plant in flower!
t. c.
Pleasant walk through woods +nice relaxing boat ride
J. A.
Very nice woodland with a nice range of views and different plants. As well as some plants for sale and a nice café.
J. A.
Hello my parents and I (and a friend of my mum) went to Fairhaven Woodland Garden. We had a lovely walk and saw the boat trip which was functioning, but we had a boat trip at Wroxham in the morning. It was lovely to walk in the shade etc. We didn't go into the Bird Hides as it's a quiet time for wildlife. But did see a Great Crested Grebe, Cormorants, Grey Heron and Mallard on the water
H. R.
Great venue with very friendly staff. Beautiful place to walk round and suitable for all ages.
t. m.
Went to the Christmas journey of light
It was reasonably priced and was a good walk for all ages...
Also the fire pits were welcoming on a cold night and the kids loved toasting marshmallows.....
Plenty of drinks available....
A. B.
Visited Fairhaven Gardens on 14 November on a beautiful autumnal morning. We were booked into the garden by a very nice gentleman, who then served us in the cafe!! We started the morning with coffee and cake. I had a piece of carrot cake, while my hubbie had carrot and ginger. All was very yummy. We then took a leisurely stroll around the gardens which were full of autumn colours. Lots of bird life added to the experience. Also enjoyed the sculptures. A highlight for me was coming across a gorgeous clump of nerines. All in all a great morning.
N. H.
A really nice walk round with wonderful scenery and quite relaxing. Followed the black route which was easy going and very relaxing, lots of birdlife from the hides. There were quite a few hungry mozzies so stay covered 😊
E.
Brilliant place to visit and the tea room is wonderful
J. M.
Went for the Christmas lights, great half hour walking about, dogs loved it.
S. S.
We wanted a cooler place to walk on a hot day and we found it. The gardens are really made for nature and we saw a lot of butterflies bees and other insects. The birds were also in abundance. Some lovely wild islands as well as hydrangeas and awesome sculptures dotted about. We didnt have tine for the cafe but we will return. Entrance price is reasonable and there a good shop and sone nice plants available. We added the boat trip to our visit and I'm pleased we did. The young man was entertaining and gave a very good talk. We say some good birds and were told sone interesting facts. He was very aware of other boats and even asked some young lads spinning in circles in a dingie if they required assistance. I would very much recom end this for a day trip. Theres a lot to explore. These are not formal gardens they are wild and have uneven paths in some area. Most wheel chairs will cope but not all paths will be easy. The boat trip has a ramp access available and the boat skipper is very good at taking care of passengers needs. There are toilets but not currently in the gardens themselves so be aware to go up at the entrance. Some signage could do with cleaning or replacing. My mum did fall down due to a small hooe on the butterfly walk by the buddleia there was a sign warning it was uneven but she was looking up at the butterflies. So be aware of what's underfoot. She is a tad clumsy! Please note you no longer need to pre book but you save 50p per person if you can. We opted to pay at the entrance incase we couldnt go. They also offer canoe and kayak hire and boards.
F. C.
Beautiful place lovely walking around Beautiful lakes disappointing the boat trip isn't on this year and it doesn't mention cancellation of boat trip on the website
M. J.
Lovely gardens with wildlife. Long and short walk options. Difficulty with pushing pram as most pathways are mud with tree roots. Cafe was clean and tidy with plenty of places to sit.
T. S.
Very peaceful restful water gardens semi wild in most places. Cafe serves ok food at ok prices. Good for all ages.
L. T.
A lovely environment for a bit of peace and mindfulness.
I. C.
A gorgeous and quiet place for everyone. As this place is a complete connection to nature and wildlife all is about peace and silence. Staff is excellent and very helpful. I've been personally surprised as the place is completely pet friendly (apart from the Tearoom) and well prepared for an unforgettable experience with our four-legged friends. Personally I don't recommend for children as they unable to understand the true value of the place. Definitely first class and five star. Thank you Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden.
L. C.
This was a great walk around some lovely woodlands that back on to the broads. Would be good to go on a day when they do boat trips. The cafe is a must, serving up delicious freshly prepared food
E. H.
Visited here on a Wednesday, I'd looked on the website but didn't see an admission page and turned up assuming it was free! Whoops me!!! However the price was decent for the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child) and was well under our daily holiday budget. Our daughter loved sitting in the bird huts with her binoculars sitting quietly and watching the birds, there were some nice boards with information about the gardens and although our daughter is twelve we had fun searching for the bears even though we missed one and had to walk back to find it. It was lovely being under the trees with it being a hot day. We saw plenty of people there however we also had plenty of alone time along each of the walks which was nice. Well worth a walk around here thoroughly enjoyed looking at everything especially the giant rhubarb.
J. P.
I loved my visit to Fairhaven. This is a gem of a place combines quiet woodland walks with board-walks across magnificent marshes scattered with amazing flora and walks by the dazzlingly beautiful Norfolk Broads is perfect for those who love nature. Tranquil, serene and stunning. Sublime.
R. F.
Stunningly attractive garden walks with views over South Walsham Broad, amazing boat ride...cafeteria food and staff were excellent....I'd give this place 6 stars if I could...also excellent value for money, couldn't fault it....😊
D. B. (.
What a beautiful place, lovely walks in the outdoors. We particularly enjoyed the boat trip and the giant swing which is attached to a tree.
If you bring children they can take a cuddly friend to join them on their adventure.
R. E.
A beautiful place to visit with its own broad. Boat trips available, dog friendly, car parking, gift shop, wheelchair access etc and all for a really reasonable entrance fee. We spent a lovely few hours here on Mother's Day. When the bluebells are out next month I can only imagine it will look even more stunning ♥️
N. P.
A fantastic place to unwind for the day. Peaceful. We had a lovely day here with my two dogs and certainly not overpriced.
C. H.
Lovely to visit for all ages especially the activities for younger children. The cafe was busy and efficient with nice, smiley staff.
L. R.
Beautiful woodland park walk with three trails to follow. Obviously some of the facilities are closed at the moment but this doesn't detract from an enjoyable experience overall.
K. P.
Went to see the Christmas lights, they were amazing, toasting mash mallows on a fire pit was lovely. Can't wait to go again next year.
J. M.
Great place, lovely walks, then there is the broad. In Normal times there are boat trips on the broad
There is a nice cafe tea room there.
I would recommend this place
E. L.
It was a gloriously hot day when I visited and all the shade walks really helped to keep the sun off. We went on a half hour boat trip which was lovely and very informative. The coffee shop was alright but nothing too rave about.
L. W.
Lovely afternoon spent here exploring the woodland pathways. Impressed by the accessibility for anyone needing wheels, be they young or old. So many twisty paths to explore; lots of exciting bridges to cross! Don't forget to pick up a map at reception to ensure you manage to see all points of interest. There is a good variety of plants in a natural setting which encourages a variety of wildlife. Great that you can take your time to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet, then notice all the birds and insects. The highlight of my visit was the 50 minute boat trip. The narrative from the "captain" was great - he pointed out so many things we might otherwise have missed. Easy parking, clean accessible toilets and a cafe with tea and cakes to end with. Great for all ages. Entrance fee a little expensive for the size of the gardens though.
P. G.
Lovely walk around, kept nice and tidy, many different plants and trees and beautiful view of the broads. Nice little area to sit down for a picnic too. Only thing was it was a little pricey to get in I thought.
J.
Picturesque woodland haven bordering a small part of waterway on the Norfolk Broads. Tucked away but we'll worth searching out - enjoy!
I. W.
Lovely quiet gardens. The footpaths were very nice and was well organised for dog walking. I liked that there were multiple dog water stations and from poo bags on entry. The cafe was very nice with friendly staff and beautiful food. I was very impressed with nealry everything being recyclable! Beautiful views over the broads.
R. C. (.
Went in January, even with the heavy rain it was still a great place to visit. Loved the outdoor activities and the food wow just wow. I definitely got alot of food for my money. Highly recommended this place. Amazing and welcoming staff!!
S. D.
Amazingly beautiful place to visit. A must do whether you live in the area and never been or visiting from a far!!
Spent most of a day here touring through the beautiful woodlands and gardens in awe. The dogs loved it too.
Kids all found different parts of the day enjoyable.
One pointer I will make if visiting with ASN kids /young people be aware that at purchasing tickets the kids are all offered/given numerous activity sheets and activities to do - 4 each. I have 4 kids. All ASN (Autism amongst other things) - it became extremely DISTRESSING at times finding ALL the bears and not missing ANY of the items on the picture list or "do they have be in order?" And the questions were quite hard for my girls so we were re doing the route several times to find the answers......they became more obsessed about the answers to questions rather than taking in and enjoying the views etc.. As a parent carer of 4 I would recommend indicating to the ticket supplier perhaps that only 1 activity (if any!! )
All that said it is a beautiful palce to visit and take the kids and the dogs and the grandpatents for a beautiful and fantastic day out! And its worth payying the bit extra for the boat trip if the weather is nice enough. The views are stunning and it just makes it such a perfect day !
K. S.
A great time was had by us and our friends looking around the gardens with our dogs too. Good accessibility for our friend in her wheelchair and we had a meal in the cafe.
Cafe wheelchair friendly, good food selection, good quality, well prepared, delicious, good price. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the place was clean, good service.
L. N.
Huge gardens with so much to explore! It's a great place to see wildlife and there are a lot of additional events going on. With a cafe, shop and plants for sale, you could spend a while here.
S. B.
Really nice family day out. Was a lovely day for a walk and lots to see. We did feel it was very expensive for what it was and it would be good to habe a family ticket for better value for families. On top of this they were charging a lot of money for boat rides which felt wrong after paying so much in to the place.
E.
Very well organised outdoor cinema evening. Reasonable prices, pretty decorations, plenty of outdoor beanbags, blankets, great music to set the mood and the screen was perfectly sized and placed so we could all see well. The meadow was very lovely with clover and wildflowers all over. We had a great time and it was fab to watch the film with the moon overhead and birds nearby. Thank you. We will be back for more events in the future.
D.
Lovely woodland, nice variety of flowers, walkways all around so wheelchairs and pushchairs have no problems. Nice boat ride which was very cheap. Open all year except Christmas day.
C. G.
This is a lovely place to explore and relax in the beautiful surroundings. On a sunny day, the light and reflections through the trees are amazing. The boat ride on the broad is worth adding as an extra. Great value for a day out
R. S.
Loved our visit here this week. So tranquil and relaxing. Really recommend you do the longest walk as it doesn't take much longer than the shorter walk and you get to see more of the lakeside which includes a lovely little floating deck where you can sit and look out over the lake. Lovely staff, still taking precautions to keep visitors safe. The cafe food was beautiful, highly recommend the paninis! This is our second visit and glad to have returned after last year.
P. D.
Really beautiful walks and scenery would go again happily
A. G.
Beautiful walk, lots of wildlife and interesting plants.
However, don’t bother with their cafe- we waited over an hour for our order and ended up walking out. Staff in there were rude, no apology given at all.
K. H.
Went on a Monday, was easy to book online, was quiet and peaceful, lovely walks and plenty of benches to sit and rest or just sit and be still
A.
Lush and green. Many pretty sports. A trip on one the two boats is well worth it. Some of the woodland paths are not easily managed by wheelchair. Cafe and toilets. The usual gift shop, but also sells plants.
L. F.
Lovely shady woodland sections - perfect for hot people and dogs on a boating holiday! Tea shop serves good coffee, lovely generous slices of cake and a tasty baguette!
C. C. P. i. E. S.
It is a lovely place, but it was quite expensive: a ticket for the garden plus 20 minutes boat ride x 2 people was near 40 pounds. Add lunch, and you will spend 60 pounds, but it was quite pleasant, and it is well planned.
C. J.
Beautiful, relaxing walk amongst the flora and fawner, good views of the broads. Would highly recommend
j. j.
Always a lovely warm welcome from all the staff. Also loans electric mobility scooter for use around park very useful. Always great walks lovely gardens
E. T.
Beautiful and peaceful, a different world that seems to drain away the stress of life.
s. e.
The gardens and boat trip were lovely. Highly recommend. The food not so. I had jacket potato, ham and chutney. Tasteless and potato badly cooked. The plate was annoyingly too small. Food was falling off the plate and plate was spinning around on the plastic table cover.
Oh! Saw a Marsh Harrier while on the 20 minute boat trip and I thought it was worth the entrance fee. Loved your King and Queen Oak.
R. J.
Nice woodland walk with streams and a lake at the end but disappointing if you was expecting gardens ,might be nice in the spring with some rhododendrons but they looked like wild ones not special varieties
Over all disappointed
P. C.
This is a hidden gem of a venue. Sheltered woodland walks & broad trips an option. A peaceful haven then a cuppa to end you visit.
V. E.
Lovely to walk through the gardens and we also went on the short boat trip around the broad the chap gave a really interesting commentary
K. D.
A wonderful walk around, very good entrance price, loads of parking space, suitable for wheelchair users and families, peaceful walk, lots to look at.
J. W.

G. H.
Very nice enjoyed walk, very peaceful, boat trip good. Potential to improve with more attractions
T. C.
Lovely place to be. Calm and interesting. Cafe very slow. Four paints took 35 minutes to arrive; we were told 15 minutes! We almost missed our pre-booked boat trip. Staff very friendly.
B. M.
Love this beautiful place. Different every time we visit. Will definitely be going again this year
M. K.

Lovely quiet wooded area, beautiful walks, will definitely visit again in the different seasons.
M. H.
A beautiful walk around a wonderful wooded garden with lovely streams and a lake. Dog-friendly too.
P. D.
Beautiful and calming. Lovely in the sunshine
T. B.
As it was winter and just after the storm, we didn't visit at the best time of year. Was an easy enough walk with interesting plants, trees. Will definitely visit again in the summer( blooming) months to appreciate the planting. Dog friendly which is a bonus, plenty of bins to put the poop in.
F. B.
Went there for a few hours with my 2 dogs, it was really nice, clean, quiet, friendly people. I didn't try food but the tea was nice.
G. D.
Fantastic walks and plants, stunning trees. The boat trip is well worth doing.
H. L.
Absolutely beautiful! Great value for money. A lovely place to spend a few hours
M. B.
Lovely place for Autumn walk, the food is lovely and great value, staff and very friendly and welcoming, dogs welcome too!
R. C.
A really relaxing garden walk, with just enough variety to keep a toddler happy.
Cafe was also excellent, homemade food for a decent price and colouring books and crayons for the little ones.
Would recommend to friends looking for a way to relax outdoors.
M.
Beautiful gardens and walks. Look out for a 900 year old oak tree. Spent over 4 hours just walking. Boat trips available on the broad and reasonably priced. Cafe very nice and welcome place after walking. You must visit, a jewel in Norfolk
M.
Very peaceful, walking through the woodland. Very good choice of plants to buy. Café well supported and helpful staff.
Very enjoyable afternoon 😊 🤗
S. H.
Great place to visit, took our 2 dogs and had a lovely few hours walk amongst beautiful woodland. Thoroughly recommended.
H. C.
Visited on 4th April in glorious warm sunshine. Had good lunch outdoors before walking through grounds. We had booked a mobility scooter which was waiting on our arrival. Excellent instructions on how to use, first time user!, and ambled down to broad. Wonderful time.
K. S.
It's quiet and peaceful, nice escape from city life.
J. M.

A really lovely day out and we saw so much wildlife like kingfishers a woodpecker and a otter, staff were really friendly and we had a tasty lunch in the cafe
D. S.
Beautiful relaxing calming place, ideal for this weather as lots of cool woodland paths. Xxx
D. K.
Great food and lovely gardens, but not sure about the awkwardness of the restaurant . Several staff behind the counter, only one of them could take our orders through a small hatch, rather than ordering inside. The food is and was fantastic though
D. W.
Beautiful walks, view and wildlife.
R. S.
Been before but this time to see the PANTALOONS production of A Midsummer Nights Dream. Absolutely fantastic, really funny and very entertaining
P. B.
A pleasant place to walk, wheelchair accessible, nice cafe with good food
L. G.
Magical place! I was amazed at the amount of beautiful flowers and plants here. Absolutely wonderful place to visit
R. B.
Lovely walk in the shade through the wood. Nice cafe very friendly and welcoming staff
R. H.
Absolutely brilliant day here. Loved every part of it. Cafe a bit pricey in my opinion but to be expected.
S. T.
A nice wander around a woodland area, but must admit, nothing special. It says it's a managed area, it wasn't that well managed. The signage for the paths weren't very clear, need to be bigger and brighter.
Couldn't understand why you had to book a spot because of COVID19. We saw no more than a dozen people as we walked around, except when everyone was bunched up in the queue waiting for their allotted time to go in.
B. P.
Absolutely beautiful! We had a gorgeous walk around here. The price to get in was very reasonable and so was the cafe which we finished our walk at. They had toilets there also. Plenty of plants to buy at the end of the walk. It really was a lovely afternoon spent here. The signs going around pointed out facts that were very interesting.
J. A.
Beautiful area to explore, see some wildlife, and to take dogs for a walk.
N. U.
A wonderful few hours spent in a great mix of woodland and broads with plenty to keep young and old minds engaged.
After our wonderful walk, we stopped at the cafe for some lunch. Lots of choice, generous portions and tasty.
Many thanks to all the staff.
S. D.
Nice walks and a fab boat trip saw king fisher and you can take dogs.

J. S.
Beautiful place needs a good tidy up. Would have liked to have seen more flowers cafe lovely food brilliant staff
K. L.
Not much to see at this time of year, just a few daffodils and primroses. Will return later in tbe year though.
S. F.
Was a bit disappointed as the boat wasn't running, and would be out of commission for a week but the website still said it was running...would have saved me a journey
J. B.
Beautiful gardens and so peaceful to walk even with your dogs.
So many beautiful flowers and wildlife to see.
R. C.
Excellent woodland and broad walk. About 1 3/4 hours on longest walk. Ground good for disabled, wheel and push chairs.
Reasonable priced cafe serving drinks, quality snacks and light lunches. Plenty of free parking.
Great for bird watchers.
Reasonable entrance fee.
S. P.
Went camping in February... I know. Bad decision but really happy to find this little treasure when driving around the countryside. I really enjoyed the gardens and even though it was gloomy and muddy, we knew that this place was beautiful! The walks were a amazing so glad we had a map though I can imagine myself getting lost in here even with my good sense of direction! The coffee shop was so tiny yet so appropriate! I really want the recipe for the lemon and Earl Grey cake. I truly would appreciate it. Such lovely staff as well. Maintained beautifully. I will return in the spring to see what plants have arrived
M. W.
What a beautiful place, walking around the water gardens we saw the King Oak, almost 1,000 years old, and it was a special treat to see the tree creepers so close to the path. Definitely worth a visit, although it is a bit expensive for the entry price.
P. L.
Had nice walk around whole area of gardens with views of broads.Tea and Flapjack at end.
G. C.
Really nice woodland. Plenty of picnic areas and lots of lovely wildlife
a. j.
Nice place for a day out, enjoyed boat trip.
E. S.
Stunning gardens. Very buggy friendly. Well marked paths and boardwalks through woodland and water. Lots of interesting plants. Plenty of places to sit and picnic dotted throughout. Also hides for bird watching and peaceful places around the lake. There are trails for the children inc a teddy bear trail and lots of nature wood carvings for the kids to spot. Cafe sells a nice selection of snacks and lunch. Large outdoor seating area next to the cafe. Boat trips not running currently. Highly recommend.
L. G.
Lovely place on edge of Norfolk Broads
M. C.
Nice place for a walk. The kids still love finding the carvings even now they are older. Shame the gift shop wasn't open, and were treated as if we should have known, although it says on website and on the gates they have one. Disappointed the kids on our yearly visit. Staff are mixed, there are some that are really friendly and helpful and other that are not so.
s. c.
Great place for walking your dog and getting away from it all.
J. D.
Found it to be much more of woodland walks but some nice picnic areas with seats. Some places give good views of Tamworth Broad and boats. Some paths very muddy but work in hand during Winter. Suggest scooter users hire one, so cheap and cope with all trails. Peaceful. Good day out.
j. d.
Nice walks. Map supplied but the coloured routes are not shown on the map. Café. Plants for sale.
T. S.
Had a lovely couple of hours here very pretty and peaceful walk
B. H.
Had a lovely afternoon here with plenty to see and spot. A lovely afternoon tea and the staff were fantastic. Can't wait to go again.
K. E.
Woodcarving doted around the park was a very nice touch.
G. B.
As nice place to stroll through the woods and along marshlands, nice view of the broads but beware of the mozzies and midges, made mince meat out of me.
A. C.
Lovely to walk round nice cafe
place a bit pricey
p.
Wonderfully peaceful haven with a mixture of natural and planted flora. Decent hour and a half walk through the woods and their own private broad. In the spring, I would imagine the rhododendrons are stunning. Small café and gift shop. Booking online is cheaper!
N.
First time i had been there in the summer after moving nearby.
D. C.
A beautiful tranquil place just nice for a relaxing afternoon stroll
G. H.
Loads of great trees, plants & wildlife, relaxing and a great way to at least make a little bit of reconnection with nature. Soak up the green! Some vegan food in the cafe too!
h.
Delightful, magical garden, full of surprises and wildlife and beautifully cared for. Amazing, healthy fresh food and excellent Covid secure measures in place. We loved it and will definitely return - three generations of us. Thank you!
L. G.
Ok for a short visit, lovely shaded walk through the woods, not so good for prams or motorbility scooters, lots of roots. Most of the water is stagnant. Nice viewing place to sit and watch the boats on the broads.
R. M.
The scenic walks and the autumn trees made it beautiful
G. L.
Lovely place to visit
R. K.
Well set out. Covid measures excellent. Lovely park and easily accessible for wheelchair users unless there has been heavy rains. Plus point is cheaper to book on line, minus point is the cafe is very expensive. Will more than likely visit again.
J. B.
Due to staff shortages, they we're only providing a reduced service today. They were trying hard, but the que at the window was slow and a number of the cakes had run out. A lovely location though.
Y. T.
Brilliant day. Lots to see and so quiet. 3 different levels of trails to follow, we did the black one which was the longest. Many places to sit and rest plus areas for picnics. Went out to the edge of one of the lakes. Paths were muddy in some places but not a problem for anyone with good mobility, prams and wheelchairs may find it tougher.
L. W.
Wonderful dog walk followed by shopping at the xmas market then coffee and cake.highly recommend. Very friendly staff and christmassy atmosphere.
B. A.
Beautiful vegetation, nice little walk. Good coffee shop with really good food.
I. S.
Well worth a visit
Guys on boat trip very helpful and knowledgeable.
V. M.
Beautiful place to visit. We came for the paddle boarding, which was absolutely brilliant! great instructors, and so much fun. You can easily spend the day here in the beautiful gardens. Lovely tea rooms. Will definitely come again .
S. A.
Lovely afternoon spent here. Routes are one way so you don't have to pass anyone on smaller paths and board walks.
Rhododendrons were in flower and candelabra primulas looked incredible.
Cafe is open, serving from a hatch. We enjoyed a cool jug of Pimms.
C. W.
Lovely place for an afternoon stroll followed by a visit to their plant shop and excellent coffee shop with homemade food
B. B.
Beautiful forest. Worth going.
F. F. E.
A stunning place to visit and walk. All flat, lovely trails to follow dogs welcome and a lovely tea room
J. B.
Lovely area, very helpful staff easy to book and use the mobility scooters. Dog friendly walks
C. W.
Stunning gardens and tranquility. So peaceful and made to be enjoyed.
S. L. H.
A lovely afternoon here with our spaniels, highly recommended
c. G.
A great day out for the kids. Lots of walking trails with plenty to see along the way. We love trying to spot the bears, the tree carvings and all the different types of trees. Scones from the cafe are delicious and the staff are super friendly.
A. C.
Beautiful walk and cafe very good with good service.
J. G.
It was a very nice experience. Fairhaven Woodland is a beautiful and peaceful treed space with lovely pathways, waterways, bird hides and plenty of places to sit and contemplate. My only disappointment was seeing litter in various places along the way. Uncomely for a natural setting, and a distraction in such a place. Also the cafe bins were full and overflowing, making it impossible to separate the landfill rubbish from recycling. There seems to be a maintenance problem.
C. N.
Beautiful woodland and water gardens on a hot afternoon.
Paths were easy to follow, different routes for different abilities.
Cafe with sunny garden at end of walk.
Dogs made very welcome.
P. G.
Absolutely lovely place to visit great day out for people who love nature ❤️
T. C.
Have been visiting Fairhaven for many years now, its always a pleasure and enjoyable. Well kept Woodlands and waters, lovely views over the Norfolk Broads, boat trips when covid restrictions end.
Very nice cafe with pretty good menu, eating areas outside at present.
Felt very safe with good standards regarding covid restrictions.
Well worth a visit could easily spend a leisurely day listening to the birds singing. 🐦
A. H.
Excellent experience. Throughly enjoyed these calm and wild gardens. True gem.
Silly covid rule about access to gardens through shop [less then a 10 second walk through the shop] for access despite no legal restrictions seems beyond excessive (almost gave 4 stars).
G. V.
Here is the one of the most eldest Oak of England. Wonderful.
J. B.
Visited in May. It's a stunningly beautiful place, great area of woodland and wetland. There are wooden walkways over quite a bit of it. Staff are lovely and it is so well managed. A great place for photography. I can recommend the boat trip too. The food in the cafe is excellent, I tried a vegan option and it was delicious, so were the cakes!
L. G.
Oh Fairhaven, a fantastic place for a woodland walk. Perfect for a leg stretch, quiet contemplation and the best cake in Norfolk! Fantastic value, great for kids, dogs AND big enough to always feel like it's your own private sanctuary.
Keep an eye out for otters!
C. L.
Lovely walk through woodlands put. Onto the broads. Nice tearooms for a rest and a cuppa.
Dogs welcome on a lead
J. M.
At this time of the year the rhododendrons are simply stunning. The Spider garden is a real delight, and worth the entrance fee on its own. The walk along the broad is very pleasant, and though the arboretum is relatively new, it has some interesting specimen trees, and seems a work in progress. The walk through the woods to the ice house was peaceful, and a fine end to the visit.
The cafe/ restaurant served delicious and interesting food, and is worth a visit by itself for the quality of the food.
Definitely a must-see; one of the best gardens I have visited.
a. h.
Very peaceful walk followed by lovely lunch in cafe lovely staff great food
S. R.
Beautiful park to spend time with family and friends.
J. G.
An absolute gem. Stunning walks, lovely boat ride. Dogs need to be on lead, but can go everywhere except in the restaurant. No problem though, as plenty of outside seating. Including covered seating. Lunch (Fairhaven platter) was delicious and very good value. Lovely boat trip and friendly, knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend this place.
J. R.
Do the circular walk starting at Upton along the Bure and top up on coffee, maybe cake and fuel for the final couple of miles.
J. W.
Peaceful and beautiful place to spend a day. We went on a Sunday and had a delicious roast pork lunch and one of our party had a veggie version (quiche) The water gardens are lovely and if you want to, for a further charge, you can take a boat trip on the broad too. Very good for dogs, they had 3 well positions bins in the grounds and lots of barrels of water so there is no need to carry heavy bottles around!! They are welcome on the boat too if well behaved.
M. M.
Such a beautiful and tranquil place to walk, with clearly marked trails of differing lengths to suit all needs. At the end of the walk there is a lovely cafe, with yummy cakes and plants to buy. Memberships available.
C. B.
Excellent place for a nice walk and so dog friendly
P. H.
Excellent value for money tunned into children walks had three trails you could follow on these things for children to find and a small reward at the end for there efforts. Food good value worth a try very helpful with my wife's allergies nothing to much trouble will go back again
S. '. M.
It's a nice place to walk around. Quiet. But there's little touches to detail (which if corrected) could make it better. If you have a dog, be prepared to charged an extra 20p for each dog. When maintenance has been carried out on the woodlands,it's just been left. The same with trailers etc. The tea / coffee hut in the middle was closing up by 15:15 so couldn't get a cup of tea etc.
B. “.
Dog friendly on leads. Lovely woodland and marsh walk. Helps keep out of the sun if too hot. Busy tea rooms and plants to buy. Well stocked gift shop too
N. B.
Lovely day. Bit expensive and man at reception was functional not welcoming. I felt an imposition as I'd only booked an event online and my 81 year old parents hadn't booked their garden entry tickets online because they couldn't ....they're old! 🙄
N. S.
Lovely walk. Nice cafe
M. B.
Woodland and wetland walk lovely. If they wish to charge regular cafe prices for food then they must invest in a gazebo for each table. Having to eat a full price lunch in the rain falls kinda takes the mickey
J. M. R.
The gardens were lovely, plenty to look at and walk through. The boat tour was also really nice with lots to look at. The only downfall being the facilities nearer to the boat stop. They are a little rough & ready but by no means awful!
M. S.
Absolutely wonderful little gem of a day out, a beautiful walk around lakes and woodland lot's of shade for the dog's to enjoy, 3 different routes, a long, medium and short walks. 1.30 min 45 mins and 30 minute walks the boats we're closed when I went so was the bird hide because of Covid, nevertheless a beautiful day out looking at trees, waterways and wildlife, you can even enjoy counting all the bears in the woods , lovely tearoom serving hot and cold drinks, and lovely food , toilets are in the carpark so go before your walk.
E. S.
Lovely walking around and lunch
M.
Was an enjoyable experience. Nice place to walk the dog. Got some things from the gift shop afterwards :)
G. G.
Beautiful walks. Cafe and staff were excellent.
R. H.
We passed a very peaceful few hours here on the lovely walks and in the bird hides. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
B. E.
This place is an oasis in Norfolk. Lovely wooded walk around a stunning broad. Which you can explore further by the boat trips around it. Brilliant skipper tells you all about the broad and the wild life. The woods themselves are teeming with wonderful plants and wild areas that attract all kinds of insects and bugs, around every corner is a another view, or a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. For those with limited mobility you can use one of the scooters provided. A nice touch is that the info boards are also done in braille. Take a picnic or ve a lovely meal or snack in the cafe. We'll recommend a visit and they are only closed on Christmas day! 😊
P. G.
Simply beautiful, very peaceful and a haven for wildlife.
J. K.
Lovely garden and friendly staff. My cousin dropped his phone in the Norfolk broads and they helped him retrieve it.
R. S.
A very pleasant walk such a shame that covide prevented us from the boat trip on the lake. But we enjoyed the greenery I would recommend being in landscaping trade that you visit this place during all the seasons where possible to get the full value of the planting and landscape.
S. H.
It had been our first visit so far, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A lovely stroll through diverse woodland with little streams, leading to the beautiful water scenery of the Broads. Benches invite to have a rest and to take a deep breath and unwind.
r.
Beautiful wetlands and water! Quite different from most public gardens.
T. F.
This charity clearly spends time maintaining the gardens and it is great to have a wonder around. Don't forget your wellies if it has been wet recently as some paths can become muddy. There are woodcarvings all over the woods and there is a cafe with refreshments. Good parking opportunities.
D. D.
Lovely peaceful strolling round the woods surrounded by water. The board was stunning as the sun was shining. It was March so the boat trip wasn't running.
The cafe is pleasant , as was the staff.
We did the children's quiz.
D. U.
A lovely walk around easy access for mobility transport
A. P.
Very pleasant walk through woodland and by a broad. Boat trips around broad available some of the year. Cafe serving breakfasts and lunch. Plenty of parking. Dogs welcome on a lead, but you cannot bring the dogs into the cafe. There is room to tie them up outside and fresh water. Alternatively there is plenty of outside seating. Approx 90 mins to walk around the whole site.
k. d.
Woodland walk a bit soggy after the wet weather but saved by the foxgloves and rhododendrons in bloom.
D. T.
Lovely tranquil place for a walk with a lil quiz looking for wooden owls hidden among the trees for children (thou older people can also do it 🙂) if you so desire. A couple of boat tours too depending on if you would like a tour or just take in the ambiance along the broads. Nice cafe with helpful staff. All in all friendly staff with good selection of food.
S. K.
It's obviously not full Spring here yet but even at this time of year, on this beautiful sunny day, it is an enchanting meander through nature... whippet and all 🙂
J. A.
A Lovely Woodland and Water garden. Just about perfect to walk around with the family looking at the flora and fauna whilst getting the kids involved. Plenty of places to sit and rest if you need to and at the end when you're finished in the cold breezy outdoors, a warm relaxed atmosphere in the cafe awaits. Cake and coffee are my options and it certainly warms the cockles.
S.
As per previous post. Lovely place to visit whatever time of year. In May - the rhododendrons and blue bells were gorgeous. Boat trip as an added extra is highly recommended. The boat man is very enthusiastic and loves his job. Free parking on site. And also coffee shop, gift shop and plant sales
A. R.
Beautiful gardens and nice walk with children.
T.
A very good and interesting walk, lots to see and plenty of places to take a seat and enjoy the view. Good, tasty food from the cafe, but longish waits if there is a surge of visitors.
Worth a visit.
J. B.
Expensive for a woodland park as equivalent to many other free entry managed parks in the country. Well managed with covid although all their indoor areas like the cafe are completely shut with food on offer outside. Be prepared for a soggy meal if it's raining!
M. K.
I took my elderly mother here by taxi for an afternoon while it was still quite cold and wintry, because they were advertising a spring flower walk and it was the only way to get there. When we arrived they told us that it was aimed at children... I felt there was a missed opportunity there as we would have liked information and activities to engage us. It would be easier to bring elderly people such as my mother if there was more support for diminished mobility. The walkways are fairly level and we enjoyed our visit but my mother struggled with the walking and would have been glad of more points of shelter to sit and rest and just enjoy the surroundings.
S. M.
Beautiful, calm, peaceful place to spend an afternoon. The children loved the bear hunt, the hides and the outdoor art area. Wish we'd had time to do the boat trip. Nice tearoom. Helpful staff.
R. K.
Beautiful, lush gardens and great carrot cake eaten safely outside in the sunshine. Really kind customer service too when something was left behind. Thanks so much!
J.
Lovely gardens and walks, the kids activity map was a nice touch and have us purpose to our visit. We didn't get to go on the boat trip, maybe next time. Food in the cafe was okay, ice cream was local and yummy!
We'll be back!
N.
A beautiful setting for an afternoon in nature and worth the entrance fee. It takes about 1 hour to walk round at a medium pace. There are also boat trips and a cafe available. It's mostly pushchair friendly and lots for the little ones to explore.
S. S.
We are regular all year round visitors to Fairhaven Woodland & Water Gardens. Summer is lovely but so is any season.
Well worth visiting as often as you can, wherever you can we say.
S. J.
A charming walk even in winter. We saw the early leaves of primroses, spears of daffodil leaves and even, just visible, snowdrops starting to break through. The cafe is fantastic and everything there from soup to roast to winter puds is cooked to perfection. Coffee and cakes are lovely too!. A gem not to be missed.
A. T.
Beautiful place to go in spring/summer
A.
wonderful place nice staff, another toilet by lake would be nice for us oldies!!scooter hire godsend.
p. a.
This was a wonderful find when out for a drive. The gardens are a must for all seasons. Obviously with covid nineteen you have to book a slot to go. But because it's so big you never feel their are too many people. The boat trip up the broads has been suspended because of Covid nineteen. The restaurant has moved outside. This is a wonderful place for the children as well.
M. J.
Lovely peaceful walk, the sandwiches we had in the cafe were excellant.
T. H.
A lovely little woodland walk with a bear hunt trail for the kids.
The cafe serves a variety of cooked food and cakes and treats - all very yummy. My only complaint was the wasps around the food area but that's a complaint about wasps - not Fairhaven.
I would 100% recommend and will visit again.
K. C.
Lovely place, very well kept and superb walks through the woods and gardens adjacent to the river and great views over the broads
Very nice tea room and lovely gift shop, all reasonably priced. Came home with a few additions for the garden, again not over priced. Can't wait to go back and see it in all the different colours of each season 😊
P. D.
Great place to walk around! Very DOG friendly TOO! Only a mile from mooring points if on boat on broads. Great little cafe!! Very nice food! Brilliant chocolate dipped short bread and chocolate dipped flatjack slice.
C. S.
Beautiful woodland, will have to return in the Springtime. Visited late September when flowers and leaves were not at their best. Very pleasant boat ride around the broad with polite and informative lady pilot, even though she had only been doing the job 4 months.
J. S.
I was looking for something different to do with my son and found this place. I'm really happy we did, we had a lovely day. We did an Easter egg hunt and went on the boat ride which my son loved. We had to pay extra for the hunt and the boat trip but kept my son entertained and happy 😊 gardens are lovely had a really lovely day out we spend about 4 hours here. We will be back 👍🏻
R. d. B.
What a jewel of a place! You must visit on the next sunny day this Summer!
M. H.
Nice walks,picturesque and peaceful
b. c.
A GREAT Day out for all from 3 years to 103
A. M.
Went at the end of June 2014. In contrast to someone a year ago I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The boatman was very informative. Coffee was good - didn't try the cakes but the ice-cream was yummy. Altogether a relaxing day out - and cool under the trees when it was very hot elsewhere.
N. W.
Lovely place for a walk through the woods followed by a coffee and slice of cake. Plants for sale too.
A. B.
Wonderful gardens, water, plants and birdsong!
G. Y.
A beautiful water garden on the edge of the broads in a lovely Norfolk village. The gardens are always immaculate and vary through the season's so visits at different times of year offer different things. The cafe/tea rooms are also excellent, with lovely sandwiches and cakes, even full meals (chicken casserole etc.). Superb.
B. P.
Excellent venue for walks among the trees and along the waterways. It is so quiet and peaceful there with a wide variety of trees flowers and plants to investigate. Good food available in the tearooms. Plants and books available to purchase.
N. G.
We didn't have time to walk in the gardens, as they closed at 4 and we arrived at 2 and needed lunch first! Also looked around the Hedgehog stalls which were here today. I had the quiche and salad...absolutely delicious. What a charming little place. Saw some outdoor Shakespeare here in the summer. Lovely place for an afternoon out. Will come back when we have a few hours to explore the gardens themselves.
T. P. C.
Really comfortable and cosy cafe. Good scones and tea. The gardens are lovely to walk through. Fantastic to explore with kids and lots of interesting events throughout the year.
E. D.
Wonderful place to visit. Some lovely walks to do and they had made the activities Covid 19 secure. With one way routes, hand sanitizer and picnic areas outside to as to socially distance.
G. G.
We parked easily and headed straight to the cafe. After reading previous reviews, I was cautious, but the kids were hungry so we ordered baked potatoes with cheese and salad. The young man serving was very friendly and helpful. After a short wait our food was brought to us and tasted lovely. We all had a piece of lemon drizzle cake which again was lovely. Overall, food was quite expensive though. Cafe was clean and really welcoming.
Once we went into the gardens, the kids ran ahead and we had an enjoyable 3-4 hours exploring the different areas. On a negative note, visitors should ensure they clean up after their dogs. The bird watch huts were great, although if the feeders had been filled we would ve seen more birds.
We opted for the short boat trip around the inner, private broads area. The boat man was very friendly and chatted freely the whole time.
To summarise, relaxing, enjoyable 5 hours, if you like plants, wildlife and walking. Not a great deal to entertain kids over 12 years old.
N. F.
Beautiful surroundings lovely and pleasant. But personally, never feel these places are worth the money they charge. ordered a roast pork dinner which was very reasonably priced at £9.95. the meal was very well presented and I had a job to get through it, being so big. Somehow though the pork tasted greasy?. The por kitchen staff seemed overwhelmed, and it took over 20 minutes for the meal to arrive. perhaps with 50,000 visitors a year now, it's time you reviewed your staffing levels?
S. E.
Beautiful place to visit. Lovely woodland walks with plenty of wildlife to see.
M. R.
Beautiful place to visit although price could scare some away. The young staff could be a little friendlier however the more mature staff more than made up for it. They were so polite and friendly my little ones looked forward to taking their bear hunt sheets back to the lady when they finished.
g. s.
Beautiful, the longest route (black) is a lovely stroll through a mix of well maintained gardens and wilder looking woodland giving something to look at in all directions! Signboards are interesting and the addition of a braille section is a very nice touch
S. W.
Lovely quiet garden with interesting walks and lots of unusual plants and flowers. Gunnera and ferns going crazy at this time of year, with backdrop of colourful rhododendrons, azaleas and candelabra primulas. Nice cafe and shop, and plants to buy and take home. Boat trip round the broad was fun too.
G. J.
Quite expensive to get in. Plants are being bought in to change the walk outlook. But then you get hit with high cafe prices.
j. e.
Alot of damaged trees seen since storms ravaged area but was a nice winter walk with an excellent Sunday lunch served in the cafe.
A. R.
Found this treasure the other day and what a find. There is an entrance fee which I didn't think was exorpatent and the dog cost 25p ! but before there's a small riot they do supply you with poo bags etc. for this so great value. Being disabled I was so pleased that the whole garden had been done in gently rising and falling dirt paths with plenty of seating to stop and watch the world go by. Combine this with a trip around the Broad on their own boat. Don't quote me but I believe you can hire electric mobility scooters or take your own. I do some research for this and update when I get a chance. After the walk you can finish off with something to eat and drink in the pleasant café or take home a plant from the unusual collection.
R. L.
Great little walk on the black trail lots of information and hard to get lost.
M. S.
Visited on a lovely sunny day in June. Easy parking and wheelchair friendly.
Staff seemed distracted, unwelcoming and in the case of the boatman, downright unfriendly and grumpy. Decided not to take the boat trip because of this.
Tea rooms were clean and good facilities, however food was decidedly uninteresting and the cake stale and dry.
Lovely environment but the visitor experience was altogether pretty poor. Such a shame.
m. e.
Just stumbled across this place, spotted it on a road sign and thought we'd give it a go. So glad we stopped by. Lovely scenic walks with unusual plants abound, very calming atmosphere and was easily accessible for the pushchair. A must if your passing by!
D. C.
This is one of my favourite places to visit. The walks are lovely and every season offers something different. Its ideal for looking at wildlife and the cafe has good food for reasonable prices.
M. G.
A lovely peaceful nature area on the Norfolk Broads. Cafe with fresh food. Small plant sale area. Gentle 1 hour boat tripwire knowledgeable guide.
S. L.
A nice garden to visit. Well worth the effort.
K. B.
Nice boat ride and lovely walks only down side is that admission is well over priced
L. Q.
Excellent, the Norfolk Broads at their best, fantastically managed woodland walk, with everything from wooded car, to open broad, around every corner there is something new to see, then back to the tea rooms for a nice hot cuppa and a slice of home made cake.
I would recommend a visit every season to watch how the woodlands change.
R. P.
What a wonderful find! Gorgeous water Gardens, amazing flora...the largest Gun era's I've ever seen. The boat trip to see Butley Abbey ruins was informative and so relaxing. I would recommend it for any age...adults and children alike.
K. W.
Very nice walk around the gardens and afternoon entertainment from The Busketeers of Sherringham.
T. D.
Nice place, a little bit out of the way, but beautiful! You can get a boat tour of some of the Norfolk Broads as well, one little thing to consider if you're walking around the wooded area is the mosquitoes! They loved me!!
S. J.
It looks lovely, wooded areas for walking your dog, unfortunately we didn't book so got no further than the car park, holiday in that area so probably won't go again, oh well
R. T.
I liked the area, but more for its potential, not what I experienced. From a business prospective this place is seriously under performing. Very sparce information on the plant life all around you. Not well kept and gave the impression of being managed by some well meaning retiree's. Dog walkers seem to love this place and that reflects the lack of asthetics the quadrupeds could damage. Don't come for beautifully sculptured gardens. This is a cheerful wander in the woods and a decent cafe.
To the owners...you have a great space. A decent business analyst would put you on the map. And No...I am a HR type. LoL
S. C.
Lovely walk around the grounds. Lunch was very tasty as well. At the end of the day the coffee shop staff were so kind - making us a much needed cuppa even though they were getting ready to close. 🍰☕
L. S.
It is really a lovely place to visit. Lots to do and see very child friendly. Especially if your thing is out doors. Lovely cafe. We had afternoon cupa and cake, it was yummy And really nice friendly staff. 😊
C.
Lovely place to visit. No boat rides till next year. Closed Thursday + Friday now. Not staying open in eve on Wednesday at moment
s. w.
A lovely woodland walk, nicely laid out. Plenty of places to sit and take in the peaceful surroundings if you want, a few bird hides if you are a birdwatcher and a nice peaceful short cruise on Ranworth Broad. All in all well worth a visit but leave yourselves about 3hrs or so to enjoy it.
S. M.
Lovely staff and very nice cream tea. Good selection of spring plants too.
S. B.
Absolutely stunning place very peaceful a little piece of heaven
S. S.
Great place to go on a sunny day. 3 different trecks. Some nice views. Must visit when in the area. Kids love it too.
S. H.
Really lovely place to get away from the crowds (and the sea breeze!). Kids had a great time following the maps and doing the challenges.
H. O.
Visited Fairhaven which has some good and interesting areas of open water and wetland. The woodland is a mix of native and non native species. It has a large open water broad with good viewing platform. They had a "bear" nature trail which would appeal to young children and encourage them to explore
L. S.
Lovely gardens and the boat trip is recommended! It's perfect for toddlers.
I've dropped a star for the cafe.
The food is inconsistent. My veggie quiche was lovely, but the kids meals are left to be desired. There was a queue and people were not being served that quickly or I would've asked fot the kids cheese sandwich to be remade. The bread was dry stale and the crisps had an odd taste to them. I had to cut the sandwich up into smaller chunks, but soon realised it was inedible.
Luckily, 2 year old was happy sharing my quiche and the portion size was very good.
A. T. (.
Very pleasant walk. Not much to see this time of year plant wise but plenty of wildlife to be seen on the little broad and in the woods. Can't wait to return on the spring when there will be much more colour.
L. S.
Visited on a hot and sunny day in July when the shaded walks were very pleasant as was the boat trip. Followed by lunch outside listening to a local brass band concert. Would like to visit again when the rhododendrons are in flower.
C.
While the grounds are lovelly it is an expensive walk if there are a few of you. Additionally I felt pressured into adding a donation to my entry price - I think donation options should be more discrete.
If you want a beautiful walk through water gardens in the broads this is definitely one to try.

I went here with elderly friends from my bingo social group. There was lots of long walks so if you have back or leg pain I would give it a miss. You could try the boat trip well worth a view.
I haven't been here since I was 16, and not much has changed.

This is a beautiful woodland park, but what really makes it special is how accessible it is. It's always hard to make a natural environment accessible to all, but at Fairhaven they have made a real effort. They regularly repair the pathways, offer the use of mobility scooters (recommend even if you are usually a manual wheelchair user, as you will be able to explore much further) they have accessible toilets and even an accessible boat to go on the Broads. There's also a sensory so you can interact with nature up close and personal.

Pretty place with a decent cafe and lovely board walks through the woods. The boats weren't running when we went though.

I love this place and so does my family. So many beautifully landscaped areas. I love the 950 year old King and Queen oaks. Highly recommended and you can dogs too. X

We had a gorgeous walk with our puppy, and a boat ride on the fens. Cafe was nice too. A lovely way to have a break from all the hustle and bustle of the seaside while on holiday up the coast.
A. T.
Great walk with pooch blow cobwebs away xx

Very useful.as you can borrow a buggy if you have a disabled group member. Lovely grounds...lots to see
J. C.
Saw the brown signs and followed them here, this place is fantastic , lovely gardens , friendly staff , excellent value for money , kids absolutely loved it , searching for bears and exploring, couldn’t believe how big it was , we actually ran out of time as we didn’t arrive till 1.30 still leaving a lot left to see, wish we had found this place on our first day of holiday instead of the last . Thankyou for ending our holiday on a high
C. H.
Absolutely lovely. Beautifully maintained. A fab walk with lots to see even on a cool and windy early March day. Sustainable and environmentally focused. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. A gem of a find.
J. M.
It was ok. Apart from having to pay an extra £1.50 for a ticket at the counter. Cheaper if you do online but us older ones are not so into the internet . Yes I know all about covid changing things but come on now !!!
A. W.
Didn't visit the gardens this time but the food and coffee were excellent. Lovely surroundings, peaceful
P. B.
A great place to go for a lovely walk through unique gardens and woodlands and with the provision to take short boat trips too! Lovely staff, botanical and general nature interest, lovely cafe with a garden area, a small nursery and shop too. They also do regular activities for children and families. A little gem on Norwich's doorstep.

Lovely peaceful place dog friendly
J. S.
Wonderful Christmas Lights show. More satisfying than the big and braggy shows. Excellent mulled wine!
F. G.
The garden, woodland and broads themselves are lovely, but the the tearooms were quite disappointing - overpriced, tiny portions, very limited menu, and they seem to serve coleslaw with everything. Dogs are also not welcome, despite being welcomed everywhere else in the park - very conflicting messages! Would recommend bringing a picnic when you visit - would be a much more enjoyable experience.
T. N.
Lovely walks(uneven) dog friendly.reasonable price. Food and drink at the tea room is fantastic, sandwiches are huge.
A. M.
Really beautiful place and such a nice spot to walk around. If you're after a long walk mind the full loop isn't that big but you can add in a bit of the village too
S. M.
This is a lovely place nice walk also enjoyed
the bear hunt for children.Could do with more toilets on route plus another cafe for drinks.
P.
Lovely and peaceful strolling around the woodland. Although dog friendly you can taken the dog in the cafe which is a bit odd as it's not carpeted. Good way to spend a couple of hours.
R. C.
Lovely woodland and boat ride!
S. H.
Love this place, it's so picturesque. Beautiful all year round. Went to a wedding here last year in the summer it was amazing. They do a cute boat rides to a d the staff are so friendly.
J.
A lovely place but VERY expensive! £2.00 for a sausage roll which was the cheapest food by far, £6.95 for a panini!!!! After paying £6.60 each to get in you'd think the boat trip would be free but no that was another £3 odd on top. It would help if all of these prices were advertised BEFORE you go in!?

Booked ahead due to the Covid precautions and given a 1/2 hr timeslot to arrive, was told when booking over the phone contact less was available but had to root around for cash at the kiosk had IT issues. Had to take a photo of the only map they had. Despite all this the garden is great, wildlife and flora abundant and varied. Giftshop and nursery onside wasn't visited as unclear direction for entry/exit deposited us back in the carpark. Another establishment becomes victim of covid hysteria and poor planning.
J. L.
A beautiful, tranquil and peaceful place to visit. No sound other than birdsong. Lots of lovely wild flowers to see and lots of wildlife on the Broad. Highly recommended for a truly relaxing walk.
D. C.
Lovely place 😊 took my 5 year old daughter who loves forests and countryside and she loved it
And can still get cake at the end of the walk (or normal food if prefer lol)
Highly recommend
R. W.
I love to walk round this place I usually take about half a day walking round taking photographs. Lots of wildlife to see and they will let you know in advance what's coming into flower and the best Times to see it.
L. C.
absolutely stunning gardens with lots to do, the boat trip is very relaxing and the whole place is incredibly romantic. would definitely recommend as a nice day out for couples or families
S. W.
Great place. Quiet, well planted walks through shaded woodlands. A nice relaxing 20 minute boat ride on the broads followed by ice creams and drinks rounded off a great afternoon.
M. F.
Beautiful place and a wonderful walk
T. D.
We love this place, huge water gardens, wheelchair accessible, good little cafe for snack or meal, small shop. Recommended.
E. B. (.
Just visited the tea room, pleasant surroundings and the pot of tea was good but the food was overpriced. We had a Fairhaven Platter, which was a cheese scone(separately priced at £1.95) with salad, coleslaw and chutney. The price for the spoonfuls of coleslaw and chutney , the lettuce leaf, 2 cherry tomatoes, a couple of slices of cucumber, butter and the warmed up cheese scone was £5.50!
However the cake was delicious.

Beautiful surroundings, relaxing yet fun for the children. My granddaughters loved finding the Bears. Lots of wildlife including the beautiful Brimstone Butterfly. Theres a nice little giftshop and cafe too. We rounded off our day with a pleasant boat trip and an icecream, all in all a good value and fun day out.
J. H.
This ia a lovely garden to wander around with well tended routes, streams, bridges and a very nice cafe. Boat rides are pleasant and there are hydes to watch the birds. There are a lot of candelabra primulas, and choice plants and trees but not really a plants person's garden so don't go expecting Wisley! It's a lovely day out with plant sales. I picked up a gem! 😀
A. P.
Loved it, fantastic walk and great for children. They are hyper covid aware, which was fantastic to see. The food is reasonable and substantial for what you pay.
P. W.
Excellent educational and wildlife facility. Ample parking for cars and buses
Good locally prepared and sourced food.
Good for families and dogs with good access for the disabled
Broad boat trips available
G. R.
Beautiful gardens leading down to the broads.

We were able to get in half price due to having my spree vouchers but I didn't think it was expensive for the amount of time spent there anyway. We arrived at about 11.00 am and didn't leave until gone 2.00 pm which included a 20 minute boat ride and a short break for lunch in the tea room. I personally wouldn't bring young children here as there are no railings along side the miles of waterways and also at this time of year the water is covered with algae and looks very much like a lawn, although when I mentioned this a member of staff said they had had only one incident of a child falling in! In some areas it looks very over grown but overall a lovely place to spend a few hours with many seats to rest and admire the views especially the private broad. The bide hides are a peace haven to sit and enjoy watching the birds on the feeders; unfortunately when we visited the new one the door had been left open and a wren had flown in and got disorientated! We thought some of the food in the clean and fresh looking tea room was a bit overpriced; £3.60 for a bacon roll and no pot of hot water with your tea pot although the very friendly staff happily filled the tea pot up with fresh hot water. There are lots of special events on during the year but a place which looks like it could be brilliant fun for children just running off and hiding could be a potential stressful nightmare for parents

We had a great time on the bauble trail with our grandson. The baubles were a good size for him to spot.
We will visit again.
T. R.
This is a really beautiful place, great to explore. We took a boat ride which is a great way to see some of the water birds.
The cafe is great too. We had brunch which was fantastic
S. N.
Stunning walks can be a bit muddy (after all the rain), fantastic cafe, Gluten free bread baps the best I've ever tasted
s. s.
Totally reccomend this place was beautiful and well kept.. loved every minute walking around this place.. took us almost 3 hours at a leisurely pace
C. M.
Very peaceful walking under some stunning trees, from a commercial point of view an updated tearoom and toilet facilities would increase popularity,
B. C.
Social distancing isn't easy for anyone but I cannot understand why an open air attraction like Fairhaven limits the amount of people who go in and you have to book. Just because someone goes in at a specific time doesn't mean they will come out at a specific time. Managed to use the cafe which was expensive.
D. L.
Lovely walks through the woodland and by the broads with plenty of ace to sit for a picnic and lots of water for your dogs.
v. k.
Really nice place, 2nd time I have visited. Would have given 5 stars if I didn't think the food was over priced and the guy doing the boat tour wasn't as good as the first time. Original chap was like salsa this guy was plain porridge.
O. 1.
Beautiful garden with pheasants, deers and lush forestry and waters. Great place to visit
P. M.
Nice walk, although could have been longer - a bit restricted because of the covid thing. Would have liked to have the boat trip. Tearoom sandwiches and cakes were fab.
W. C.
A lovely place to while away a day. Lots of little paths to follow to hidden areas. Great for shade on a sunny day. Lovely tea room too.
k. m.
Lots of ammazzing plants and tree's. 1000 year old oak tree. Nice cafe and pleasant staff. A must I think. Good cake also. What more you want I do not know. Happy cake days
A. F.
We didn't stay long as it was just a break for a light meal on a journey. Good to be surrounded by greenery though & what we ate was good.
G. R.
Gardens are lovely. Staff are very pleasant. It is quite difficult getting around in an electric wheelchair as many of the paths are narrow. It would be helpful to have a designated wheelchair route.
A. L.
Fairhaven woodland and water gardens was lovely today, with 3 different types of walks, only open for members at the moment with online booking to visit, very well organised, thank you Fairhaven for a pleasant and peaceful morning.
I. P.

Such a wonderful walk. We thoroughly enjoy coming here and spend hours taking everything in. The only thing I don't like is that the toilets are unusable whenever we've come.
K. I.

Fairhaven gardens is a undiscovered little gem. Wheelchair and dog friendly, with its own private bit of the broads, with daily boat trips. Peaceful and tranquil in its own setting. Between Acle and Wroxham , well worth a trip.😎

Beautiful water gardens, steeped in history and relaxing cafe, gift shop and garden centre.

Interesting place with nice walks but I think it is probably more exciting in the spring. Easy to spend 4 hours here and the boat ride round the broad was with adding on.
K. M.
A great walk, lots of interesting plants and animals, I'd highly recommended the boat trip, which costs extra, well worth the money and easily the highlight of our visit, cafe was good as well
T. D.
Lovely place to walk around especially in the summer when all the flowers are out.
L. H.
Lovely gardens to wander round, well managed to still feel natural. Can take dogs for a small charge too, which is great. Good cafe too

Lovely place to go for a walk in the woods and admire the wildlife, with a nice little cafe to sit down at the end. Optional boat tours on the broad too.
M. T.
Really quite an enjoyable day, plenty of space for the noisier people to get muted, lovely trees and benches along the paths, café a tad on the expensive side so take a picnic and eat in a space on the trail.
J. H.
Wonderfully peaceful place to visit. Dog friendly with boat trips. Lot's of things for children and fabulous tea rooms. Definitely recommend a visit.
s. d.
Garden walk was fair, booking in difficult on site, (do it online its easier before you go)
Tearoom service poor and overpriced items
