Reviews of Attenborough Nature Centre
J. B.
A very large reserve with ample car parking. Fabulous cafe with really great food. Ideal for visiting in poor weather as there are good paths, and also accessible for wheelchair users.
The reserve is scenic and beautiful and there are a great array of species to see. The birds actually come right down to you in places!
This is definitely a hidden gem in an otherwise unremarkable area, and I'll definitely be visiting again 😊❤️👍🏼
J. M.
The beautiful Attenborough Nature Centre. We had a walk then a coffee and a 🍰.
The birds were beautiful are the ducks
were swimming are afternoon.
It's a good time for us.
S. B.
Another beautiful walk this morning in the sunshine. However, some wildlife was unfortunately disturbed due to many of the dogs being off leads. The signs clearly state they should be on short leads. This was disappointing and most irresponsible by the dog owners. This needs action, I feel. Thank you 😊
J. W.
The walks are lovely, the main paths are tarmac so suitable for wheelchair and pushchairs. Some walks can take a few hours if you go down to the river trent.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the parking sign said charges from November... It didn't say it was last November so we got a lovely fine
J. K.
With a wonderful opportunity to see Britain's water habitat birds in their natural environment Attenborough Nature Reserve is brilliant.
Walks through the area are well set out and managed. Seating is provided along the trails and you do not need to wander too far from the carpark to be in the peace and quiet.
We always stop a while for a drink or light meal at the visitors centre where you can also purchase interesting and educational gifts and souvenirs.
Highly recommended.
N. P.
Beautiful lakeland with lots of nature around you, lots of different walks around different lakes to choose from. The coffee shop is excellent, with a lovely outside area overlooking the lake. Plenty of car parking space with cheap parking £3 for the whole day, which is a bargain as the rest of the day is free, and I think the parking fee goes towards the up keep of the area.
M. L.
Brilliant place.
Nice food, good selection.
Good selection of drinks.
Awesome walks (but best when not wet).
Cant come as often as Id like.
J. A.
Wow what a walk, took all the paths and took 5 hours with a few short snack breaks. Loved the walk, really interesting and nice people. Be warned it can get busy but there is lots of room.
M. D.
Wonderful place for walking and cycling with lots of flat paths.
Nice cafe with a terrace where you can sit and look across the lake.
L. C.
Great place to walk or bike ride. The surroundings are beautiful and you can walk for hours without realising. The tourist centre is great for kids and you can buy food for the wildlife. It also has a lovely cafe with an amazing over the water balcony where you can sit and feed up after a beautiful walk
M. S.
I have been coming to this nature reserve for years and it keeps on improving. Staff is always friendly and helpful, car parking charge is simply a way of donating to the community, so we get to see more and more birds & other wildlife every year. They also serve wonderful scones😉 And have lots of events organized for the kids and adults! There are no barriers, so you can get around on a wheelchair too, it's mostly flat all round.
t. p.
Perfect place to observe birds life (don't forget your camera with a proper lens). Nice place to visit with kids and dogs. Dogs are not allowed to the cafe though. Some paths are accessible for wheelchairs and convenient for walkers with prams. No free parking
D. H.
Nice walks with nice scenery and wildlife. The walks are all different and take different lengths of time but be aware of the growing number of cyclists. There is a wildlife centre and gift shop in the nature reserve where you can have a coffee and a bite to eat, overlooking the water. Well worth a visit but can get rather busy in the summer
D. T.
A nice place to spend a few hours watching the wildlife and walking around some of the gravel pits .
It had a good sized car park and a cafe and shop that's actually not to badly priced.
There are a few good bird hides on the reserve. On the down side far to many cyclists who don't say thank you for moving out of the way
A. B.
Serene nature reserve very accessible from Beeston and Chilwell. Something for everyone to enjoy; birds, wildlife, lakes, the river, watch sail boats and trains. Good parking, cafe and often ice cream van.
C. K.
Beautiful and peaceful place! We had a lovely walk all the way around and saw some beautiful birds and insects. ( and a dead swan :( ....) the cafe- average but lovely service.
C. R.
What an amazing place to visit! I just couldn't believe that this was in the centre of Nottingham. I felt like i was in the countryside with all of the wild life, trees, flowers and a larger lake it was a nice surprise.
It's a perfect place to take your family, kids and furry four legged kids, you could spend hours here walking, cycling, running along the extensive miles of paths surrounding the lake and land connected to it.
I spent around four hours here taking photographs of nature and walking my dog.
The weekdays are much quieter than at weekends. Perfect for bird watching or having a relaxing time away from the stresses and strains of life or house work.
It is a perfect place for people with mobility issues as the paths are fully accessible for wheelchairs, scooters and people using walking frames although some of the paths are a little hilly and steep in places.
T. K.
Nice large nature reserve in Nottinghamshire. Parking is pay and display on site although is free off you park at the car park before the "bridge". From there is just a 5 minute walk across to the entrance.
The site is quite large, the visitor centre has a cafe, toilets. It's free to enter the site but they do accept donations. Great way to explore nature on the site especially the migrating birds.
W. S.
Lovely scenic walk round the water reserve and along the bank of the Trent. Usually an ice cream van at the edge of the Car Park near the visitors centre/cafe. Car Park is £3 all day and cafe is pretty good for a drink and snack.
P. U.
I really love it here. Been going for years. There are lots of great walking routes around. It is easy access for pushchairs, we have taken the double pushchair around without issue. You can get some food for the birds from the centre. The children love it here it is safe for them to run around. Lots of parking. Would recommend a visit. 🦆
J. M.
I did not get to see all the nature reserve, however, I was impressed with the £3 car park charge, the cafe and toilets. It is wheelchair friendly and cyclists were using our route too.
I did not see any Kingfishers but lots if robins
A. M.
Super place for a nice walk. Visitors centre great place to bird watch. Just been for an autumn walk. Super place no matter what time of the year October 2020.
Z. Z.
I absolutely love this place. The art in the corridor gallery changes every calendar month. 30% commission to Notts Wildlife Trust on all sales.
R. B.
Attenborough Nature Center is a beautiful place to visit. One gets lost in the nature. Beautiful fauna and flora attracts the young ones and seniors alike. It has several species of plants and birds. Beautiful lake filled with ducks gives a majestic look. It has places where one can sit and relax. The center also has a food centre where one gets variety of food as well as coffee and drinks. The center is not far from Nottingham. Ducks and swan comes very close to human beings. Its perfect place to bring children. One can also buy souvenirs, but they are rather expensive.
Ideal place for bird watching. Go with good binoculars and camera.
T. T.
First time here and is amazed at the natural beauty of the surrounding with wild ducks in the lakes and the lush greenery! A must place for visitors to Nottingham! The cosy cafe serves nice coffee and also has great views of the lake!
S.
Very nice place to have a walk. Walking surfaces are quite uneven in parts, also I found the benches seem to run out, there are a few along the start of the route but then they stop. There is a nice cafe, with nice cakes and snacks.
S. H.
Nice little nature reserve, good place to walk your dogs or to go for a little stroll. If it's cold and has been raining, wear some wellies!
A. H.
My children really enjoyed there were so many small side paths to explore. My highlight was seeing a heron. I wish there were more maps showing the different coloured paths.
V. S.
Good spot to spend a quiet day with family or friends away from city life. There are different cafes where you can have a small meal or a hot beverage.
J. W.
Nice place for a family walk with a lovely cafe and toilets too... Dog friendly.. Some wonderful photo opportunities for the budding wildlife photographers.. All in all a great day out
K. G.
After a long walk or a short walk, the cafe is great. Their coffee is lovely.
Attenborough nature reserve has got to be the best reserve in the UK.
S. M.
The nature reserve is stunning, the café in a great spot. Decent food albeit overpriced, the staff are almost comically grumpy every single time.
C. P.
Always love walking around here but something really needs to be done about the cyclists. Some of them use the place as a race track and show no consideration for other visitors.
I come here to take photos and yes, sometimes, I will stop in my tracks if spot something. Most people will patiently wait or move quietly around me usually whispering "what have you spotted". Not cyclists. Saw one yesterday almost knock a lady over as he came hurtling down the path.
Also very surprised to not see signs asking people not to feed bread to the ducks.
a. c.
Excellence. Cafe was bright, plenty of seating, attentive polite team and clean facilities. Worth the train journey for such a pleasant walk.
H. A.
Such a lovely walk and lots to see,if your an early bird id certainly recommend this place as you can see so many birds and other animals.
K. H.
An amazing place to take a peaceful stroll on a sunny afternoon , there are multiple routs you can follow ranging from 1.9 - 2.9 miles with scenery over the ponds and the river trent.
The wildlife is spectacular and there is a quaint little visitor centre with a gift shop and a cafè.
My only gripe would be that like a number of places the drinks are slightly more expensive than your average shop .
Definately would visit again.
A. S.
Lovely place to walk or cycle round, lots of feathered friends to watch, also has a nice cafe, good menu choices.... all well worth a visit
R. J.
Well worth a visit! For walking or cycling, Place kept nice and clean, extra bonus is there's a cafe and visitors center
J. B.
Simply amazing sssi. Long or short walks. Amazing cafe with wonderful staff serving great quality food and drinks. Notice board showing recent sightings.
T. B.
Nice place to visit and feed the swans, they are very friendly and approachable. The cafe is nice too with lots of stuff to distract the kids. Food and drinks are a bit pricy though.
P. C.
Fantastic place for water birds, large old gravel pits with a visitor centre that does food and beverages and has free wi-fi.
C. I.
Fantastic day out and great place to walk although my son was more excited to see the ice cream van than the nature!
S. S.
A beautiful place, so good for the soul to be surrounded by nature on a choice of walks through a number of habitats. There are strategically placed hides so you can observe in comfort, lots with information about the wildlife you can expect to see. This place has everything including a lovely cafe over a lake that serves delicious meals and snacks. There is no admittance charge and the small price you pay for parking helps towards the cost of keeping the place for everyone to enjoy.
N. “. R.
A beautiful reserve and such an array of wildlife. The coffee shop wasn't too busy either. Perfect day.
A. R.
Good place to hangout and easily you can spend 5-6hours. Enjoy a good walk althrough the Circuit. For photographers I would recommend this place where in u can catch of very good birds in Ur lens.there are observatories available for bird watchers using binoculars. Nice maintenance all throught the centre and at regular intervals in the circuit there are chairs to sit and relax. You can listen birds chirping and calm atmosphere. Good to go sometime in August so you can get more birds before they flew in winter. Suggested for photographers, couples . Train station is very near and it takes only 15 min to reach the Attenborough centre by walk. If you have got time after this visit and you r fancy for shopping you can go chilwell retail park which is very close and its again 15 min walk. You can end the day by doing lot of shopping to close Ur day .. enjoy.. feel free to drop me questions in case if u need any info.,
J. C.
Three stars for the cafe, 5 stars for the reserve. I know they are volunteers, but why does it take so long to be served. Surely there should be two on the counter at all times, one taking the order while another makes the drinks. It's been like this forever. But I still enjoy going.
B. T.
As a disabled person in a wheelchair. I can only give top marks for access. There was not eny where there that I felt was not accessible to me. A lovely place to lose your self for a few hours.
G. C.
Great few hours out, lovely walks by the river and seeing the sand martibs in the hide at the back of the visitors centre went down very well. Little'uns can enjoy the little garden, tunnel and mud kitchen behind the centre too!
S. A.
Great place to walk for hours. The cafe serves gluten free tarts and cakes.
I. b.
Lovely place for a great walk and what a surprise to get to half way absolutely LOVELY cafe ... Brilliant
J. W.
Beautiful place to come for a long walk or just to feed the ducks, we often come for a picnic with our children and a hot drink from the local Costa or McDonald's.
J. S.
Amazing place, could do with some more defined routes to walk around as the paths seem to go on and on forever. Great little cafe that takes card and some wonderful wildlife, a bit hard to find for the first time visitor as it's almost a service road to the back of a retail park
M. H.
Nice day out with family and have a great nature walk
A. Y.
Good place for kids to learn about nature and ecosystem. Relaxing and has fresh air. The Cafe provides delicious food from local ingredients, and the bathrooms are clean.
C. V. M.
For families walking or cycling through the beautiful nature reserve, the nature centre is a great stopping off point. Plenty of loos plus there are some (free) child-friendly resources out back, including a sandmartin hide (great for older kids who are able to keep quiet!). The coffee shop/cafe sells very tasty food that is fairly reasonably priced, and the ice creams are particularly delicious. There's also a very nice gift shop that sells duck feed very cheaply - again, great for keeping little ones occupied!
R. B.
Superb nature reserve with bird hides and surrounded by water. So much to explore and great visitor centre.
J. B.
Very good views I went for a 3 and a half mile walk,It was very good,But I don't think their is a park.
D. B.
Pleasant walks, as far or as short as you wish to make them. Easy to park. Lovely cafe with views over the reserve. Lots of lookout points and plenty to see.
J. C.
Very nice area surrounded by nature. We observed the birth of a goose in its nest (see image :D). Also it can be reached from Nottingham after a nice ride by bike. It was very pleasant.
C. B.
Had a fulfilling visit. Very beautiful, serene and tranquil environment, a nature lover’s haven. I’ll definitely recommend for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful environment to clear their heads
B. N.
Relaxed place to enjoy the wildlife, blackberries and walks around this area. Take the kids to feed the ducks, geese and swans (to). Mandarin ducks a favourite with the family. Visitor centre is inviting with a good food-and-drink-menu. Good little shop too which includes the usual stuff but also includes quality binoculars for sale (Opticron). No doubt we will be back again soon.
R. K.
Great nature reserve for families and bird watchers. Bird hides are available out on the reserve, some with wheelchair access. The coffee shop is also recommended although can be busy.
S. M.
Large, great nature reserve, great walk or cycle as a chillout yourself or with friends or pets
N. H.
Beautiful place, great facilities, wonderful afternoon out x
J. S.
Nice place to visit, take a few pictures, feed some ducks and have a relaxing stroll around the reservoir
B. D.
A fantastic place for wildlife, exercise, cafe and for enjoying yourself. Great for little kids and big kids!
M. C. D.
A lovely little cafe offering an array of basic foods and drinks - but the real magic is behind the spectacular views. The adjoining shop has some great books for various age groups. It also has a great selection of binoculars that you can actually test out across the waters which is helpful!
The only negative was the state of the restrooms - they were dirty, unmantained and unsanitary.
V. P.
This was not my first visit to Attenborough nature reserve. It certainly won't be my last! It's so peaceful and yet teeming with wild life. There are several lovely walks and it's so nice sitting on the veranda having lunch or just a tea or coffee. The staff are warm and friendly. You can always browse in the gift shop without being harassed.
S. C.
Great location for wildlife watching. the free entrance makes it very accessible for families. I love the shop!
M. S.
Nice view to see and to rest. It's good to take children for a walk and to feed the ducks
A. M.
The nature reserve was very good indeed it has alot of wildlife to see and explore as well this place is well worth the visit.
s. h.
Cycle or walk here every day. It is beautiful.
A. W.
I have loved this place since I was a child. Almost half a century now. It is a real asset to Beeston/ south Nottinghamshire.
Thanks to Nottinghamshire wildlife trust for what they do.
m.
Wonderful place for an afternoon walk or a cycling day out. Ideal for birdwatching. There are few pubs near the river aswell.
D. B.
Well signed and easy walking. Lots of info available and reassuring data posts so you know where you are and how to make contact if needs be. Loads of wildlife. Great cafe with good selection and seating outside overlooking the water. We walked from Long Eaton and then got train back.
S. I.
Beautiful. Visit. Sit quietly and you'll see loads of wildlife...
B. C.
Absolutely beautiful place I visit on a regular basis and it's like my second home....stunning.
A. A.
I have always enjoyed the afternoon walk in the winters
E. J.
This place is lovely you can get some fantastic photos while enjoying a long walk round. There are nature huts to bird watch and little info boards. Lots of people take theirs dogs and and feed the ducks.
If the weather is lovely it's even better. There are benches as you walk round so you can stop and enjoy the view and have a picnic. It's a lovely free afternoon out.
Unfortunately we didn't go to the cafe as it was a hot day and very busy. At the end of the trail there was a very welcomed ice cream van. This is also great if you like jogging with a view.
I would recommend it highly 😁
L. R.
Great fun with plenty to see and discover. Lovely day out in nature.
I. G.
The place is worth a visit (or second) but... they need to do something about the litter.
J. E.
Absolutely beautiful place and such friendly people! If you're a wildlife fanatic, or simply just want a nice/peaceful walk, then this is the place for you.
D. D. C. C.
Lovely peaceful place to walk. Nice cafe.
M. W.
The car parks ask for donation of 3£ and plenty of spaces. We parked a little away from the visitor centre but there was a footpath connecting to the visitor centre. The walk was very pleasant, quiet on a midweek (half term) rainy day. There were many bird spotting shelters and our fledging photographers enjoyed taking pictures of the many birds. The visited center has a small cafe.; Very clean with nice sandwiches but the milkshake and the hot chocolate was a little chemical taste. They were running on a reduced staffing and you may expect a little wait in the peak time. There was only one toilet available to the public, which was clean but the door stuck a little. Overall very pleasant visit.
s. a.
Nice place to visit. Parking lot can get full on a weekend with good weather.
M.
Lovely place to walk whether it's around the nature reserve or along the river. But if you're going there to use the bird watching huts then be warned, they're closed at the moment, so to are the toilets in the cafe, which is annoying. But nice cakes in there, I especially recommend the cruffin if you like pastry and chocolate.
There's nice long walks if that's what you're after, going round the reserve then up the river and back again, either to Beeston or Trent lock.
We parked at Beeston Marina, which is free on street, and walked along the river to Attenborough Nature reserve and back again. Around 4 miles altogether. Also good for slow bike rides, especially with children.
H. W.
Just a brilliant place for all ages to walk & bird watch . Lovely place for lunch or a snack. We had the good fortune to see this nest with eggs.
A. J.
Beautiful place, nice day out with bikes
L. H.
A lovely quiet walking space with a coffee shop, but quite often the paths are surrounded by very tall foliage, so you don't see much
S. H.
A really beautiful reserve with plenty of birds and wildlife to see!
I. J.
V lucky to have access to this wonderful nature reserve - and cafe too! v much enjoyed a sighting of starling murmeration there this year 2019
E. N.
Good walking, suitable for dogs and mobility scooters, lovely cafe. Toilets. Reasonable parking charge.
K. S.
Excellent staff, amazing wildlife and a beautiful reserve. Allows you to get up close to the animals and understand their habitat.
D. H.
Visited the nature reserve, lovely walk and view.
J. H.
It was so nice to be able to comfortably walk around this beautiful place and just feel at one with nature . It made our weekend away more special . The wildlife here truly in their natural habitat and cared about by man . Worth a visit .
C. N.
Lovely cafe + visitor centre at a beautiful location.Sitting on the outside balcony overlooking the lakes of the nature reserve on a sunny day with an americano and a slice of cake and whiling away an hour or so is a joy to savour.
S. I.
Lovely walks (nice weather helps) when it's not winter there are a lot of different birds to appreciate. The visitor centre is pleasant, and the cafe is nice, serving a limited choice of food and drink, at reasonable prices. Weirdly for such a small cafe bacon/sausage sandwiches etc are only served at breakfast... With the limited menu, they definitely should be available all day. Parking is chargeable, bring plenty of change, £1 coins, just in case, as the card machine wasn't working when we were there a few weeks ago.
B. B.
The nature centre is ok the nature reserve as its referred to is a waste..spoilt by loud people poseing with their coffee cups having no understanding of wild life nor any care of it ....
R. M.
Love this place. Great cafe and shop, in a fantastic reserve
N. D.
Great views and wildlife. Perfect paths for cycling and walking also.
D. Q.
Great place to walk around.
Start here, end here, just walk around or as a place between A and B. It is on the edge of the river so you can walk along the banks of the river as well.
Parking is £3 all day.
On busy days, parking is limited.
Cafe and a little shop also here.
Great place for families.
No play ground area as you have the whole area to enjoy.
Hides for watching the birds and water life are also dotted around.
Enjoy.
H. E. H.
Lovely place to go with your kids or on your own
C. R.
Great place to see nature. Friendly staff and accessible facilities. The soup is good as well!
Staff are helpful and knowledgeable.
The centre gets its energy from renewable sources, including solar and using the heat in the reservoir for a heat pump. Brilliant!
Great walks around the site including local Bird bird watching hides.
Good for walking, push chairs, and cyclists.
D. W.
Great place for a wander around. Lots of bird watching/photographic opportunities with many bird hides. Busy with families , couples and singles. Good pathways around the water ways all flat not muddy and easy to negotiate with lots of seats scattered around therefore good for young and old. There is a cafe with toilet facilities and a gift shop dogs not allowed though. The cafe has panoramic windows providing lots of light and views of the water and birds. There is an outside seating area too. Well worth a visit.
R. M.
Wonderful place. Great cafe and shop. Good toilet facilities. Wonderful paths around the reserve designed to be wheelchair friendly. Lots of water birds on the lakes. A great place for families and for the disabled and less mobile. Will definitely return when the opportunity arises and when I have more time to explore. Staff throughout are pleasant, friendly and helpful.
I. J.
Beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife, nice coffee shop and gift shop
L. S.
Visited with my friend. Couldn't be better. There is also excellent cafeteria!
J. T.
Very nice to get back to nature, so quite there, had a wonderful day - and you can hear yourself think.
S. B.
Lovely place to visit. Sit and watch nature go by. The centre is a popular venue for those visiting the nature reserve. There is a busy cafe and shop surrounded by the reserve will a lovely area out the back.
Lots of birds congregate at the front on the way in and is of my interest for children and adults alike. The centre is the icing on the cake of what is a great nature reserve the is frequented by all. If you've never been I recommend you give it a try.
L. G.
We used to come around here to walk our Boxer pup along the river when in the army 1983. A fantastic place to walk dogs on lead being a good length to tire them out. Recommended for a walk for anyone as being a Nature Centre there's plenty of lovely things to see. Go and enjoy is what I say.
h. r.
such a lovely area <3 very scenic
P. R.
Is beautiful. Perfect for a walk, even with out proper shoes because a big part is paved. The gift shop has very nice cuddly toys for kids. All of them very original that I haven't found in other places.
K. B.
Fantastic place for a walk, lots to see and do. Parking is £3 all day, cafe is lovely (gets very busy) always activities / colouring for young children and a very nice gift shop with lots of nature themed toys. The paths can get muddy so take wellies. Lots of bird watching hides to explore and a variety of routes through the site, you can buy a cheap map / guide in the shop.
A. T.
Beautiful walks around Wetland with lots of birds to be seen from the mainly wheelchair paths and a couple of hides to sit and watch at a couple of interesting places. Good access to an interesting visitors center with interactive displays, live specimens to see and knowledgeable friendly genuinely interested staff to answer questions. Also tea room with gift shop. Had a good day and would love to go again.
P. G.
Beautiful location. Excellent scenic walks. Calm ambience. Restaurant over-looks lake with some outside seating specifically designed to enjoy views. Car Park busy but always spaces so far.
K. G.
Love this place, just wish all cyclists would have a bell on their frame as the paths can be a little tight and a bit of a 'ding ding ' would help us step out of the way quicker.
Car park is ample, cafe over priced really as there is a Costa and a McDonald's Hurst down the road so I can't see why they are charging so much. Nice gift shop and awesome views of the wildlife and passing trains.
Z. L.
Lovely after by the river, nice walks
v. g.
Beautiful scenery and was a perfect day
B. E.
First time we have ever been and will most definitely be going back. It's a beautiful place with so many walks!! Lots of wildlife and lovely setting. Only thing I'd suggest is good luck with a parking space if it's busy, it's fairly limited and spaces are tight. Ideal for a family day out. Choice if different walks depending on how long you want to be also. :)
S. W.
Beautiful Views. Lovely place to go for a walk.
N. B.
It's a decent cafe, with a bit of selection. The main draw are the birds outside, along with the great seating with good views. There is also a gift shop inside. If you want to sieve a brief chunk of time relaxing in nature, this isn't a bad spot.
M. C.
Our family absolutely loves this place! It is totally beautiful and the scenery is amazing.
There are myriad paths to walk around and they are all really well maintained and very easily accessible for disabled people as well as the able bodied people.
The parking is good and relatively cheap. It is really accessible and so easy to get to.
V.
What a lovely place for a stroll. The other people there was extremely friendly. Everyone we passed greeted us.
The cafe and shop area very clean, toilets clean. Lovely sensory garden and viewing rooms where you can bird watch.
We had a pleasant morning there.
A. S.
Really lovely place to walk. It's been kept mostly natural so doesn't feel too managed. Can get very busy at the weekends so parking can be difficult but the actual nature reserve is big enough so it doesn't feel crowded even when it's busy. The cafe serves tasty food and has a good selection of hot and cold drinks.
S. S.
Super place to bring children, buy food at the shop for 25p a bag and feed the ducks. Of you are patient and still they will feed from the hand or just spread out all about to be surrounded. The walking paths are excellent for anything from a short 45 minute still to a couple hour hike.
S. C.
Peace and quiet on the door step, plus a stylish cafe and polite informative staff. A host of nature species to be spotted beautiful common and less common birds here in abundance. Plus free spacious car parking. I recommend you take your camera and binoculars ,and comfortable shoes or boots, you can watch and walk or perhaps take your bicycle as there are miles of paths and trails to cover, all without the hindrance of motor vehicles. A real must for the nature lovers of all ages.
N. K.
Well mapped trails. Very peaceful even when there were quite a few people around. Lots of geese, ducks and swans around the reserve. Good for cyclists as well and joggers. The centre provides a cafe for a quick lunch break, good facilities and also a small gift shop. Parking is cheap, £2 all day. Very lovely place, would visit again
P. H.
A great place for a day out. Lots of space to walk, almost all paved so suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.
Parking is £3 but entry to the reserve is free. There is a nice cafe in the visitors centre but this can get very busy at peak times.
A. K.
Very nice place to take your camera

Great place to while a spring day. If you like bird watching wildflowers or just a stroll this is the place to go. Love Attenborough nature reserve. Good cafe lots of nice food. It's a lovely place any time of year.
L. B. (.
Great facility after a long walk but food area was far too busy. Very hard to get a seat or table. We went on a Sunday afternoon. It was beautiful day but the winds picked up so the garden was closed. Nice food available though, good toilets and a little gift shop.
C. D.
Plenty of good quality food options, not overly expensive. Nice range of gifts, souvenirs and as well as books, binoculars for the twitcher\birder. There are meeting spaces too. Regular talks by famous and not so famous speakers. Out back is the sand martin nesting area that is worth visiting when they are around. Staff are friendly and helpful
A. S.
Lots of riverside and lakeside walks. Plenty of wild fowl and birds for the enthusiast to observe. Either naturally or from available hides which are dotted about. Good pathways either for walking or cycling which are well maintained. Cafe on the lake via walkway. Reasonably priced. Parking available.
A. S.
How lucky we are to have this right in our doorstep. 10km of wetland and Trent-side walks, including bike-friendly terrain and a great coffee shop. The parking is good too. Such a popular and accessible spot that it can often feel almost crowded on a Saturday or Sunday. But don't let that put you off; it's a gem.
J. B.
There is nothing wrong as such with the place, but I give it 5 stars as it wasn't really what you might expect from a nature area.
There aren't really any paths for you to wander down and get lost in nature, only pavements to walk along where there are also a thousand other people walking. It is great for taking small children I imagine, who you don't want to get muddy or lost. But for walking in nature or taking the dog for a walk, it isn't really very interesting.
Maybe there are routes off the beaten path, but probably only known to locals and they aren't signposted in any way.
We probably spent about 15 minutes before getting bored of walking on a pavement next to lots of people, and we drove 15 mins to Wollaton Park instead.
A. E.
2 of our grandchildren had a birthday party here, and it was fantastic. The children all loved it, especially the pond dipping. The member of staff was really good, and kept them interested, as well as serving the food and generally looking after them. The children were all around 7 years old.
K. S.
Fabulous and extensive nature reserve specialising in wetland birds. Parking space is limited but it's well worth persevering. There are numerous lakes and part extends to the river Trent. Walking and cycling go side by side with occasional horse riders too. The shop/cafe has a range of souvenirs and serves good food either inside or outside with views over the lakes.
A. T.
Lovely relaxed place. The are 3 marked walks around the site that are all flat. Good use of information boards.
The cafe is a little disorganised but the quality of food and drink is good.
A fair amount of parking, currently £3, is available does become one out one in when busy but even then the wait isn't too long.
M. H.
Lovely day out with grandaughter. She on her bike , me walking. Fed hundreds of birds x
A. B.
Great place to explore nature and find out more about birds and bugs. Great hides for you to watch birds and a lovely circular walks around the pond and down the river bank. The kids really love feeding the geese, ducks, swans etc (but please use seeds as bread encourages the rats).
D. W.
A wonderful location for birds and wildlife suitable for children as well as twitchers and photographers. Large car park on pay and display is close to a tea room and small shop on an island connected by bridge. Good toilets here and a small wildlife garden behind with one of many hides beyond. Children can buy small bags of bird food for the ducks and geese which gather near the bridge. We walked for around 90 minutes around the ponds and the river routes and enjoyed lots of wildlife viewed from raised hides. There was even an ice cream van in the car park when we got back to the car. The photos of the ducks and the robin by Allan Watson photography.
A. B.
The nature reserve is beautiful, and the hides are very nice and well designed. The sand martin hide is particularly good as it’s very difficult to see these birds otherwise. Most people visiting the hides are very respectful and quiet which is nice. The actual visitor centre is mainly a cafe and small gift shop, it would be nice to have some more educational or interactive features but I understand they need more staff to rub. Cafe and shop are a tad expensive but that’s not a deal breaker as you can always bring your own food.
The reserve is a haven for bird lovers and if you like spending time in nature it’s a must visit! It’s easy access and not too far from Nottingham city.
n. k.
Attenborough is great for bird lovers with many hides around the ponds and Trent river. It also has a great hide in the garden behind the cafe from which you can observe Sand Martins only few feet away as they enter their nesting holes. Great for walkers as well but please keep quiet near the hides! The cafe has also a book shop so if you are new to birdwatching grab a guide book and go hang out at a hide - there is great spirit of sharing here and people are generally happy to point out birds to each other. I found this very helpful. Do bring binoculars - 10x40 is great for this sort of thing!
D. P.
Absolutely beautiful nature surroundings. Went with my mother and dog was great, dogs aren't allowed in the visitor centre but if you walk to the Beeston marina there's a shop bar and cafe all pet friendly. Spent a few hours there was great
L. M.
Nice local nature reserve with lots of walks, plenty of ducks and a brilliant visitor centre
K. W.
Love coming here. Always something to photograph.
C. M.
Lovely place to walk around with my family will be visiting again soon
j.
Lovely place for a walk or a spot of bird watching, a couple of little perches for a picnic if the weather's good. Trails are signposted and easy to follow. The information centre has a lovely tea room with facilities
P. C.
The visitor center was very welcoming after a long hot walk. I was happy to see the profits are only used to run the project. What is disappointing was the extremely high cost of cold drinks. Food prices were ok.
It would be far better to sell at a reasonable prices, keeping people happy and selling a lot more. Hence more profit in the long run.
R. M.
Lovely place for a walk in the sun or rain.
R. B.
I love this place and so does my dog. Great views across the lakes and the river. Plenty of wildlife and some good circular walks of varying length. I visit regularly but I often walk in from the nearby Trent meadows to save parking costs.
A. J.
First class venue for bird watchers.
Our granddaughter loves visiting there, starting with feeding the Swans and Canada Geese plus mallards etc.
Then to the main building which houses a shop and cafe plus various interesting tasks and information for children.
A walk to the river Trent is lovely in spring, summer and autumn, but in winter can be very muddy.
A day out with picnic there is so relaxing and much to do for the kids and tranquility for adults a few hundred metres from a shopping centre and main road.
So close to Attenborough, which is an ancient village steeped in history, particularly the English Civil War
P. L.
Well organised cafe with good quality sandwiches. The whole nature reserve is fantastic. Good paths, plenty of information, lots of diverse habitats and lots of birds to see. Well worth a visit.
L. R.
Lovely walk round. Cafe very busy so couldn't try it out. Surprised there was nothing indoors for the kids to learn. They were quite happy in the shop though as you can imagine. Lovely walk round and not too crowded though lots of dog walkers
M. B.
Lovely walks. Plenty of waterfoul. Watch out for cyclists though on the paths. They sometimes go alittle too fast and some are quite rude at times. Turn right at the river and follow the path to Trent lock. A couple of nice pubs. Three navigation is popular and has a great menu.
A. B.
Beautiful walk with the family and plenty of parking
J. T.
Great place for a walk. All the paths are well maintained, many are tarmac, so good when wet. So many birds to see, with information signs to help. Visitor centre has more information, plus the very important cafe for a drink and cake.
P. P. T.
Nice place to have a wonder round and look at the wildlife, it's free to do. The centre has refreshments and sells gifts. There are activities that take place throughout the year which are listed there. You can also buy food to feed the ducks, geese and swans at little cost. Parking is available.
P. W.
A remarkably large and impressive visitors centre stands at the edge of this nature reserve, just by an industrial estate. There is a cafe that serves standard fare, with outside seating if needed. Most impressive was the range of binoculars on sale and the sales assistant who was very knowledgable but not pushy. A great place, but you'll get mugged on the way in by the ducks and swans.
A. D.
Very nice location. Choice of several routes to walk. Some cyclists are a little bit fast. Visitors centre looks to have a nice cafe. You only need to pay for parking.
M. A.
Attenborough nature reserve, is a wonderful place for all ages, walkers, bird spotters. Children love feeding the ducks, geese and swans, they sell special bird food in the shop. There is a cafe that sells good food, some I think is a little bit pricey, but it's very good quality. The shop, sells lots of goods, again a bit pricey, but some good ideas for gifts.
There are various places around the area, that you can watch the birds, and notices around giving you information on the wild life.
k. p.
You'd...be quackers..to miss it. Lovely nature spot. There is a hoarder of geese, ducks and swans that will happily eat clean out of your hand, though the bigger birds can be a touch intimidating so be careful if bringing kids. The swans will enable your hand quite happily, though no damage is done in the doing. Lovely lakeside walk too and a nice little cafe and learning centre for a drink at the end.
H.
Me and my partner were staying at the nearby Village Hotel and wanted some air. We've never been bitten so much as we did after venturing around this park. It's a lovely place but we just couldn't enjoy it due to swarms of little ******s that left us covered in bites.
R. G.
Walks of all lengths surrounded by open lakes and ponds that act as a haven for birds. These waters attract bird watches from the local area, especially as there are loads of hides where you can see the birds from . The cafe is situated over some water , allowing you to watch the nature while drinking your tea. The cafe is small but very good, with all sorts of cakes and coffee.
J. G.
Wonderful place for wild life, with two hides. You can bike ride passed the river Trent or just walk, with amazing scenery. There's a visitors centre with lots of things for young children to do, plus a café with amazing cakes.
I. M.
Not much to see other than geese, swans and ducks, I'm sure there are other birds and small wildlife around but nothing that's well showcased or easily spotted.
Great place to go on a sunny day for a walk or jog, popular with dog owners for long walks out in the open.
A. H.
Great place to walk, especially if you like good paths - most wheel-chair friendly. Walk for 3 miles, observe birds and enjoy a geat coffee & cake!
C. H.
Lovely lovely place with a good variety of habitats. Shame that there's an eyesore of a carpark slap-bang in the middle. I understand it must be there for accessibility but it looks like not much thought has gone into its aesthetics. Nearby, there is a beautiful visitor's centre, which almost makes up for all the cars.
Hides are found throughout and benches dot their way along the paths.
I highly recommend a visit.
T. J.
A beautiful Nature Reserve with walks that enable you to see the lakes and wildlife aplenty. A fantastic Centre that has a cafe serving food and drinks as well as gifts. Car Parking is available but limited to a certain number of vehicles.
T. B.
Lovely place for a day out and walk to your capabilites by the river or just sit by one of many lakes. And a nice coffee shop to finish.
S. B.
We are very lucky to live quite close to the nature reserve. My wife used to visit when she was small. We've taken our grown up daughters from when they were small. I cycle and run around the nature reserve. Today we took our granddaughter down again who although very young really enjoyed it. The reserve cafe has amazing views and has a lovely wild life setting to the rear.
There are walks of various distances to suit all that can lead you to all over the reserve and beyond.
Would always recommend. We are so lucky to have the reserve, highfields, Wollaton park all in close proximity.
Enjoy!
K. B.
A nice walk by the river, feed the swans and get coffee and cake after?
Yes, please.
If you time it right the cafe has nice stews and pies, plus a good selection of toys, binoculars and faith in nature / burt's bees toiletries on sale too.
Genuinely something for all ages, and a bag of seed for the ducks.
M. T.
Excellent facility for light meals and refreshments either before, during or after a walk around the nature reserve or a short detour from the Trent Valley Way. Lovely views across the lakes and us ideal for enthusiastic "twitchers" or casual birdwatchers.
The food that is available is tasty and well priced as are the drinks. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available weather permitting. Thanks to the huge windows it is airy and light inside.
There is a range of optics, bird food and bird boxes on offer in addition to associated toys etc for younger visitors. Also for the younger visitors is an activity corner so I'd class it as somewhere to visit even in inclement weather.
For the entgsiastuc bird spotter there is usually a list displayed of what birds have been spotted over the previous days.
Try it once and young or old you'll probably return
T. U.
Can't fault the outdoor spaces.... something for everyone, but the cafe disappoints. It appears to be staffed by volunteers and the wait to be served is beyond acceptable. If it takes 5 minutes to serve each customer (and it mostly does) then imagine your frustration when you're 5 or 6 people back, and it's not even lunchtime yet. The price of food is a little on the steep side given the long wait. Small selection of paninis and cakes plus limited hot food. Avoid lunchtime at all costs!
D. K.
A lovely and popular nature reserve in Attenborough, nice walks are accompanied by the centres cafe out over the water. One of my favourite places for a wander and some contemplation. My son equally loves to go and see the ducks and though I'm ashamed to admit it, i also enjoy to Pokemon hunt here :-)
S. B.
Great cafe plenty of walking and bird watching. Parking is 3 pounds remember to pay on exit and not on entry
K. B.
A nice quiet place for a walk around several lakes and ponds and a perfect place to feed the birds. Which on the way in if you visit the pet store at the retail park has cheap bird seed for them. The site itself has a few different paths to choose depending on the length of your stay or the distance your willing to walk. Along the walks themselves there are several places to stop and observe the scenery or do some bird watching.
C. G.
The nature reserve is a jewel of the East Midlands and the centre does a wonderful job of supporting both education and preservation. The success of both the reserve and the centre does make it seem that it may now be a bit too small to cope with the demands put on it, however the volunteers and staff do a great job as it is. The centre houses toilet, cafe and shop facilities along with activity rooms and educational boards. They often have talks from notable people in the natural history world which are worth keeping an eye out for.
G. J.
Brilliant. Come here often with the kids to feed the ducks or to take the dog for a walk. Excellent wildlife and a nice centre with a cafe and a shop, even has things like telescopes which I thought was brilliant. Well recommended.
P. S.
Friendly staff, nice cake and a great view from the side seating area.
S. H.
4 stars because we could sit outside comfortably in the sun. Not happy with restrictions on dogs. They could take a leaf out of Gibraltar Point visitor centre and provide seating for people with dogs, preferably under cover. Lots of birds and water fowl to see. I would like to use the bird hides but again, I'm restricted by the ban on dogs. Even though my dog rests quietly with me in a hide.
J. M.
The cafe needs some new jigsaws and there was no drawing paper for the children only pencils on the table. My granddaughter loves to go in there to draw and do the jigsaws. Other than that we enjoyed our visit today.
A. H.
Superb as always! Just wish there were more vegan options to eat :)
N. T.
As a child this was my stamping ground and if you saw another human being walking round at this time of year it was a lot. Fifty years on and I found the carpark almost full, the cafe (wasn't there in my childhood) packed, but still huge numbers of birds who mobbed me as always when I got the grain bag out. It was a joy to have geese, swans, and various water birds eating out of my hand. The drinks and food are good value but I think increasing the cost of an annual car park ticket to £40 and making it vehicle specific, when we have two cars, is a mean trick and will be a disincentive to many
H. S.
A well chosen venue for a team away day gave us all a lovely & healthy opportunity for a pre lunch walk around these waterways. And the restaurant staff provided coffee and a great buffet lunch too! Excellent!
b. b.
So much to see and do. Scenery is amazing, visitors centre has good quality food and drink. Only problem is some of dog owners that don't clean up their dogs mess.
F. H.
A nature reserve named after David Attenborough.
A pleasant and relaxing place.
A gentle stroll, a casual bike ride. Some hides for fans of bird watching. From here you can continue along the path along the river to Beeston Marina and stop for afternoon tea. Going on the opposite direction takes you to Trent Lock where there is a wonderful cafe with picturesque views.
If walking is not your thing, then sit on the many benches admiring the surroundings and wildlife.
There is also a café offering a good selection of beverages and food for breakfast, lunch and tea.
The cafe has an outside seating area withstand views across the lake.
W. G.
Lovely spot for a short walk. The visitors centre is nice but a little small for such a popular destination so expect to have a small wait if you want food in the cafe.
R. S.
Very large site, loads of wildlife to see. Allow a few hours to fully explore and bring binoculars. There is a well stocked cafe and shop near the car pack. Free water too which is a nice touch.
К. С.
Nice place to visit, especially when it's good wheather. Make sure you have a loaf of white bread for birds cos they really like it.
The only shortage of this place it's guite small parking area. It's very hard to park your car at weekend.
N. C.
Nice reserve, good gift shop. Seen some nice species.
s. s.
Great place to get away and relax. Stunning scenery and a vast array of wildlife. Perfect for a leisurely walk or slow cycle. Good food and drinks available at the visitor facility
g. b.
Child friendly welcoming centre. Site is safe and well maintained. Educational packages for visits good. Choice of souvenirs good price range and good variety. Cafe reasonably priced. Ice cream van on site. Parking reasonable amount.
O. R.
This is a beautiful place and our real perennial favourite. We start at Trent Lock and ride bikes along the towpath to Beeston Marina, then returning to Attenborough village and Attenborough Nature Centre, ending up with a mocca in the cafe. The Centre is surrounded by the Nature Reserve and houses a shop, cafe, toilets and a little garden with bird watching from a special indoor hide overlooking one of the lakes. The cafe serves hot food, salads and cakes - the service is always slow at busy times but the coffee is good and they serve decaff too. The balcony overlooking the lake is wonderful to relax on with a coffee while watching birdlife. The shop has some lovely things -kids' toys all nature related, designer souvenir mugs and plates and suchlike, a good selection of binoculars and mini microscopes, and a clothing range (not always available) - we bought excellent quality caps, ranger hats and hoodies from there. Activities can be booked from the Centre such as guided walks. You can buy bird food there too, in particular for just a few pence a bag of proper bird seed for ducks and geese on the lake (please don't feed them bread as it harms them). It's great for families, as the whole of the Attenborough Nature Reserve is.
S. H.
Great place.
First visit due to the distance from home. Lots of wildlife to see - saw our first ever whitethroat. It'll take several visits before we get around all the paths, never mind spend time in the hides or looking through the screens.
G. J. I. -. A. b.
I will never tire of going to this beautiful place. The wildlife is enthusiastically cared for by devoted staff. Humans are well catered for in the cafe too. This place is a must for all the family - a great wildlife teaching aid for children and adults alike.
A. J.
A very nice place for a walk. There are a number of circular walls. All are flat and relatively easy. There is ample opportunity for spotting birds, as you walk, or from one of the hides.
The visitors center has toilets, shop and cafe. Parking is £3 (Aug 2018).
If you want a longer walk, then you can follow the path alongside the river to Trentlock. There is a pub and a very quaint tea rooms at Trentlock. You can also park at Trentlock, and walk to Attenborough. The total loop is about 6 to 7 miles.
S. A.
Nice place to go and relax, chillout and drink whilst watching nature, the reserve doesn't own the world so there is a mixture of walkers, cyclists and dog walking all admiring the beauty of this place. If the hardened core naturists carnt accept that others wish to use the reserve, then we live in a sad world. The staff do their best to provide a pleasant atmosphere and they do a great job.
G. R.
Nice and peaceful but only at night. There are too many Pokèmoners during the day ATM. Probably a good idea to stay clear of the car park and visitors centre after night fall.... It looked like the annual dogging championship was underway.
N. E.
Lovely place to walk, and enjoy wildlife. Cafe serving nice food and drinks outside seating for those warmer days.
A. F.
Beautiful place and so many birds! RSPB volunteers are very knowledgeable. The sandmartin hide is great not just for spotting sandmartin. We spent a very long time watching a heron. Today many people were watching firecrests, shame we didn't bring binoculars. We are regular visitors to this lovely place.
D. M.
Such a beautiful place I had to share
B. R.
Café and wildlife centre for the nature reserve. Overlooks the water with an outdoor terrace and café area fronted with lots of glass. Points gained for: friendly staff, great views, being situated on a phallic outcrop of land. Points lost for: not being doggy friendly (inexcusable); serving a scone with only butter (inexplicable)
C. B.
Absolutely stunning place if you are a nature lover!
P. S.
Great place for a peaceful walk. Even if the carpark is packed the trails don't feel crowded. Lots of birds to spot. Cafe is reasonably priced.
C. R.
Came here with our 3 & 1 year old. Lots of walks, which are beautiful and plenty of ducks to see but if you want some sort of entertainment for little ones then you won't find it here. Our fault for not doing more research but we will return when they are older and we want to be swallowed by nature!
e. s.
It has different trails and paths you can follow and the views are very nice. Recommend to take binoculars to appreciate the birds. Lovely café too
A. S.
This a fantastic nature reserve set along side the river trent. There is a very good cafe which has toilets. Also a shop selling binoculars a other bird spotting equipment.
R. C.
Nice place to visit
C. M. W.
This is a wonderful place to escape from hectic life and reconnect with nature. It is accessible for all ages and abilities with metalled paths and rough tracks. You can get down to the Trent, encounter many butterflies and view a variety of birds.
H. C. B.
A lovely open nature reserve with a cafe by the car park. What a huge disappointment that they offer single use plastic cups for their water dispenser!! David Attenborough would be horrified if he knew even though there is no direct association!!
K. V.
For a place that wants to encourage people to come and walk and take in the open space they have a very restrictive attitude towards dog owners, particularly at the cafe where one would expect they'd positively encourage them as the owners would probably appreciate a sit down and a drink after being dragged around the lake by a curious Collie or enthusiastic Alsation.
Missing a huge trick there guys.
T. M.
A great asset with a wonderful wildlife experience on the banks of The River Trent with large lakes, trees and scrubland ifor the water fowl.
Wheel chair access and a great visitor centre with lovely food and drink.
C. S.
Its a really nice place to go for a walk with lakes and bird watching and a coffee shop but can be very muddy in places, theres car parking but you have to get there early for that as it can get packed, well worth a visit though
M. O.
I am a member of the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Attenborough Nature Reserve is the Trust's flagship reserve. I have been exploring the reserve for over 50 years. The addition of the Centre just over a decade ago was a real bonus. I am in the habit of going to the Centre every Sunday morning for a bacon butty and an Americano. To sit on the balcony and watch the ducks, geese and swans on the lake is marvellous when the weather is good, and you still have the view through the café windows when it isn't. There's plenty for kids to explore, a well stocked shop, and wildlife artwork on display. And after I have enjoyed the café in the Centre I take 2-3 hours exploring the reserve and photographing the varied wildlife as it changes through the seasons. This is one of my favourite places, and I am very fortunate to live only a couple of miles away from it.
J. W.
A nature lovers paradise. From wading and diving birds to butterflies can be seen
Hard footpaths and many hides are accessible. A great day out.
G. M.
Came for coffee and brought binoculars to watch birds. You need to put up sign that your coffees already have two shots. Bird watching from hide closed due to wind? Was this really necessary? Wind certainly wasn't that strong. Lived for 20 years in Mistral and Tramontana regions. Those ARE winds!! Attenborough wind a mere breeze incomparison. Disappointed!
G. H.
Great place for family walks and picnics
T. S.
Run by Notts Wildlife Trust the nature reserve is great for a short walk or to look at the birds. Light refreshments at the visitor's centre along with books gifts etc. There's a lot of Japanese knot weed and himalayan balsam, they might need some volunteers to help get rid of it idk.
R. S.
An award winning building on what was a former tank testing ground when I was younger. Theres miles of tracks to explore all the way back to the river Trent. You could follow the river to Nottingham or Long Eaton (poss best to try this on a bike though)..
I. K.
A place that needs more time to explore. Loads of bird species to see. Busy at the weekend but at least there's a decent cafe for when you've finished your trip.
N. R.
A great place to have a good long walk and some good photo opportunities. Also has a nice little shop and cafe. The only thing is the £3 parking fee.
r. c.
Very nice place. Nice to go somewhere and not get ripped off paying for parking. Well worth going especially if you like wild life and walking
B. E.
Even though the weather was awful, we saw lots of different birds. The paths weren't to muddy and we had a lovely bowl of soup to warm up in the cafe.
R. T.
Amazing place to go for a run or walk your dog
M. B.
Great for a long walks with friends or family
C. C.
It nice place, decent walk's here, also has a cafe here food good and hot and milkshakes. But I think with more people coming here they going to have to get a bigger cafe when we walked in it was packed, all the table were full x
N. T.
Outstanding place for bird life and being close to nature. Lovely coffee sitting on the veranda. Very slow service at busy times tho. Avoid on Sunday lunchtime /afternoons.
P. A.
Open space. Water. Nature. And fresh air. All easily accessible on city boundary. Plus friendly informed staff and a great cup of coffee. What is there not to like!
J. A.
An amazing and huge nature reserve full of birds and other wildlife. Great for families, twitchers, or just walking around the lakes or along the river. Check out the cafe/shop in the middle of the lake too
G. D.
A lovely place for a walk, long, short or somewhere in between great visitors centre which caters for all but as a wildlife photographer it is a bit too busy to get some good photos.
K. B.
Always a great place to walk, birdwatch and lovely café when you get back!
L. R.
So beautiful and the centre has great facilities including a nature garden out the back, lovely shop and restaurant. You can buy a bag of birdseed for 25p to keep the kids entertained too
N. W.
Brilliant on a sunny day or a windy day as really sheltered outside on the veranda making it a natural sun trap.
Reasonably price food and drink making this a great place for food with a view
N. E.
Superb location for bird watching and dog walking. Can get a little busy due to it's popularity, and you need to be mindful of cyclists on the Riverside path.
P. L.
I enjoyed the nice leisurely stroll around but the last time I was there all I seen by the water was a few dead fish. This made the whole day less enjoyable. However the rest of the day was splendid.
L.
Always like Attenborough - but it January ..... Grey cold and wet.....!!! Would be nice if the sun came out......!!!!
S. M.
A beautiful place for a walk in nature. Great for spotting wildlife and a lovely cafe if you like to stop for refreshments even though it's a little pricey
E. F.
A wonderful wildlife site, but spoilt for me by the number of people who let their dogs off the leash. Goodness knows how the waterbirds can succeed with so many potential predators about.
H. A.
Always such a pleasant place to walk. U prefer to run there
s.
Fantastic place. Great activities for kids and adults alike. Don't forget to check out the garden at the back of the centre.
A. W.
This place is amazing! You have nice walks with plenty of wildlife, The cafe is better than most you'll find in the city centre which caters for all needs.
S. C. (.
Conducting a survey with my daughter. Great being out in the nature reserve, lots of friendly people about, great views/walks with lots of opportunities to see the wildlife. A well earned cuppa in the cafe afterwards
S. H.
Great walks, good birding
m. b.
Love going here. It's very peaceful and relaxing. The centre is very nice but prices are quite high. Good food and nice views looking over the water.
A. M.
Decent shop, decent food and drink and beautiful views! Staff can be a little... odd. All in all, a good place to stop and refresh after a lovely walk around the gorgeous reserve!
K. K.
Visited today primarily to see Simon and Siouxsie's Snake City Tour... We arrived early so had a walk around and feed the ducks, swans and geese... really beautiful place...
T. P.
Lovely for a nice walk , various lengths of walks which are shown on a map board near the starting place of the walks , the cafe is brilliant & has a nice menu for food snacks coffees and drinks
N. J.
A beautiful place,great for a walk.
A. M.
Lovely place, walks around the lakes are amazing and always a lot of nature to see. The cafe dies nice cakes too.
B. D.
Lovely area, but need to improve direction signs, this was our first time to the nature park, we were following signs on the tufted duck route , we came to a tee junction , but there were no sign for our route, nice cafe with great views , not to pricey , good for push chairs and disabled users
M. W.
Good walk around the lakes and trent side. Bird watchers paradise. Nice cafe open / sit down until 4pm, which can be later than other open spaces in the area.
T. B.
Plenty of bird life and hides for you to go in. The visitor centre has a nice cafe and the veranda is a sun trap. Plenty of nice walks to do
K. C.
Nice walks for the family. You can take a bike or a dog. £3 to park all day which we never manage, so maybe it could be cheaper.
M. L.
Birds are so get used to people that you can feed them from hand.
B. B.
