Reviews of Nottingham Castle

It was great.
The exhibitions are amazing.
The staff are the best.
When they saw we are in a big grand we needed a place to pray they emptied a room for us as we were a big group of women and children.
Highly recommend visiting and looking forward to go there again.
Robin hood adventure was great. We all loved the games.
A. M.
5 Star Attraction. More than well worth a visit. Activities for young and old alike. Cafe and restaurant great to visit. Food very good. At the moment there is a Paul Smith Exhibition which is out of this world and should be in the castle permanently it is that good. There is thing's to do both indoors and outdoors. There is also a nice gift shop. There is great adventure play ground based on Nottingham Castle

Can easily spend an hour walking in the museum, seeing the "castle" building, and enjoying a sunny day at the garden. The castle area is located at a height higher than the surrounding of the city, so you can get a good view of all the surrounding buildings.

My wife and I had a lovely 4 hour trip here on Saturday. It really was a great experience. My only criticism would be that the robin hood adventures was only about 25 minutes long and meant that we couldn't do all the games and watch the film that was showing too. Aside from that it was a great day and really interesting. Thank you
H. L.
The inside of the Castle has completely lost its charm as a castle. The new facade is sheetrock and cheap flooring. The whole place is much more art deco than historical site.
A lot of money has been spent on high tech interactive and educational attractions.

Don't go expecting a real old castle.Great military, art, and history museum with a tour of the caves below. The place is just beautiful with a cool interactive Robin Hood exhibit.
l.
Absolutely stunning place.
The staff are amazingly friendly and extremely helpful, lots to do and see, lots of interactive things to do and see,
Wear really comfortable shoes, because you will be walking up and down steps, but there is lots of wheelchair accessible entrances,
Megan our cave tour guide was so nice and funny and an extremely helpful guide, she's a credit to the castle

The Castle was a lovely experience, but it doesn't have a castle feel about it (not like Norwich Castle). Inside you could easily feel that you were in a Mansion or an Old house like Wollaton Manor. The exhibits though were amazing and well thought out. The paintings and historical artefacts were fascinating; and we wandered around the building for an hour or so. The surrounding gardens were relaxing and you could easily have a picnic with your family.
B. A.
Enjoyed walking around and picking out the weird art & artifacts! Love that they have experiences too - we watched the NTU Souls LGBT theatre performances and they were brilliant! Lovely cafés to sit and relax too. Had a great day!
G.
I appreciate the history and effort they’ve put in to create this experience but it was much different then expected of a typical “castle”. More of a gallery with history. Still a very good day out and lots of interesting artwork with interactive learning and a cute cafe. Definitely worth it.

Great afternoon at the castle. Lots of interesting things to see and the exhibits inside were interactive and put together well to make the story of Robin Hood and the castles history enjoyable to view. They even had a few games which were great. We paid extra for the cave tour, the staff were great, very informative and enthusiastic but personally I don't think it was worth the extra money as the cave tour was very short.
D. B.
We thought it was a real castle, which it is on the outside, but on the inside it's just art galleries. The Robin Hood adventure looked really interesting but we arrived too late unfortunately. They have a great play area for the kids.
D. L.
Good place to visit. Note that it is not like a traditional castle that people assume. Insightful exhibitions and artifacts, plus a good Robin Hood exhibition which will be engaging for children.
J. L.
We walked through the gate and into the gift shop. I didn't realize we needed to pay to get into the grounds. I thought it was pay to enter the castle. My mistake. Anyway, my 5 year old daughter wasn't particularly interested in seeing the castle or the surrounding grounds so we left after browsing the gift shop items.

This castle is situated on a rock foundation, dating from the 11th century, during the Norman expansion in the middle part of England. Much rebuilding has been done over the years. Depending on the season, this is a tourist attraction much associated with the legendary Robin Hood figure. Whenever visiting it is recommended to take with you a guide book from the store. The staff is helpful too.

Lovely house..... NOT a castle.
Exhibits are next gen, and fully interactive. However, this only covers about a third of the attraction. Also, you only get 30 mins in the Robin Hood exhibition, which is probably the best bit.
Caves were fully booked, with the last tour at 2.30pm? Where's the rest of the day.....
The rest, is basically an art exhibition. Not what I want from a CASTLE.
B. W.
Nice small castle with a good art gallery inside. Not much more to it, I was hoping for a bit more history.
There's a rebellion gallery downstairs, but it's very small. There's also a cave tour, but you must book this one ahead of time to avoid it booking out.
The interactive adventure was closed when I went, but the children's playground looked fantastic.

Nottingham Castle is actually a Ducal masion built in 1670s by Henry Cavendish. The story of how the castle and the masion was attacked by riots is told through interactive displays and story telling. It is a really good exhibition. The masion houses art exhibitions and displays and there is a cafe on site. Excellent playground for children and the grounds are great for walking around and enjoying the views of Nottingham. Story of Robin Hood could be more in depth but the interactive games are good fun. The price is reasonable for what is on offer but it would be nice if you could return again like a seasonal ticket.

We visited for the Royal Jubilee celebrations. Previously, were we required to pay for entry into the castle and were aurprised when we found out that now we have to pay entry to the grounds as well. However, we did have a lovely time visiting the different exhibition rooms.
The Nottingham Rebellion Exhibition was very interesting, filled with interactive elements and historal accounts from 1600s. We also saw the current Laura Knight & Caroline Walker: A Female Gaze exhibition which was a very interesting representation of women through the last century. I especially loved the sketchea of femalee nurses and doctors at work in the NHS.
We also watches the Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea event, which was good for kids and we also enjoyed the brass band that played. Previously, the castle used to host the Robin Hood Pagent and we used go every year to watch it. It would be amazing if they brought it back along with the Medieval village they constructed.
This place will always be one of our favourites, but it is a shame that the price doesn't reflect the previously levels of entertainment they used to provide like the Robin Hood Pagent. It would be great if they could offer more events in line with the castle's medieval history.

A full afternoon 4 hours of adventures. Booked all experiences and with the family ticket, postcode discount and discounted tram ticket very reasonably priced. The new playground a huge hit. Great for adults to be able to interact and walk around much of it. Paul Smith exhibition was enlightening. All museum exhibitions interactive points were trialled and enjoyed. Cave host was a font of knowledge. Robin Hood experience definitely one to try we wanted longer in there. Cafe a must. Coffee delicious with the best city views!
J.
Excellent cafe on terrace.
Interesting artefacts , particularly in history section.
Good art gallery.
Very friendly welcome from a young man at the visitors centre .
s. l.
Really friendly shop staff. Interesting exhibition pics and videos. Family friendly too. Really enjoyed my visit. Fantastic views of Nottingham too. Would really recommend visiting the newly opened castle.
W. Y.
Nottingham Castle is a nearly 1000 years old historic architecture in city center. In here you can sightseeing, you can learning, you can playing, you can eating and shopping, is a fascinating for any age of people.
M. M.
Nottingham castle is a perfect place for a sunny day because it has sun deck chairs in the garden. Inside the castle there were paintings and historical stuff. You can bring your kids. There are 2 cafes in the entrance and in the castle. There is a car park in the NCP. Recommended place to go.
D. W.
Visited the castle today and was quite impressed with the layout of this place and the range of activities offered. restaurant was good for dinner, although a little expensive. The coffee shop was OK for drinks but cake was stale and had to be sent back!
Robin Hood experience was great, really enjoyed the archery and story about the characters. Activities were very wheelchair friendly, which was very much appreciated
Be aware there is no parking on site, and local car park was not wheelchair friendly. The castle due to its location has issues in this respect but has really tried hard to overcome them. Worth a look!
M. P.
Not so much of a,castle now, more of a Palace perhaps, however there are lots of reminders to the dark days of history, visit the caves to learn of their uses, the Rebellion exhibition is very informative, discussing the English Civil War and aftermath, the Luddhites, and the 1831 reform act, .
The art gallery and lace museums are more than interesting, and I was able to touch a flintlock rifle, whilst being taught about its use.
The weather was super, so the grounds and views could be explored
K. D.
Beautiful building. The guides are friendly and helpful. It will be nice when the more extensive cave tours are open again.
M. D.
Wow. Fantastic transformation to be an interactive, fun, beautifully designed and well laid out place to learn about history - rebellion, legends, artwork, stunning views, re-enactments, caves, games, adventure park, you name it this now has it.
It’s not cheap but there’s plenty to do and kids will love it. Lots of super clean modern toilets and a fantastic shop.
Staff are just wonderful and love working there.
Book ahead to avoid disappointment, and you pay a few pounds extra for the caves and Robin god experience, don’t forget to add it on.
J. C.
We love visiting castles and like many others this has magnificent vistas, allowing views around Nottingham city centre and out to the countryside. We added the optional visit to the caves and this was an interesting guided tour that took around 30 minutes. There are plenty of steps to navigate so it is unsuitable for those who are less mobile. As is evident from the design the original Norman Castle is no longer present but there are illustrations available that show how the original castle might have looked hundreds of years ago. Other information about the castle was not as extensive as we have found elsewhere, although there were interesting displays and features about the Luddites, lace, artwork, Paul Smith design (which is great) the Mercian regiment and more. The spacious cafe is fabulous and we had coffees then later a tasty lunch while looking out over the city. Younger children will enjoy the outside play area which is really good. Overall we enjoyed our visit and thought this was a worthwhile experience.
L. R.
Overall not a bad visit to the galleries and the new Robin Hood Experience is now open where you get to listen to the story of Robin Hood and then get to try your hand at archery and quarterstaff to see of you would have been any good
The only down side it's a 25mins Experience but the video at the beginning takes up a good 12 minutes so you only have 10 / 15 minutes to play the games
You can ignore the video and go straight to games
Robin Hood Experience no extra charge
You pay for the castle and grounds and if you want you can re-use the ticket if ypu leave the grounds to go and get some lunch just show ticket for re-entry
A. D.
Really interesting visit - ducal place is fab setting for arts & history. Loved the caves tour too. Amazing views of the city from the terraces.
M. S.
I do love a castle.
However I though there was more there for children, not alot to see for adults. Lots of activities and shows put on for children, not to say I didn't enjoy it. I did love how the castle is situated high, amazing views of Nottingham..wow.. could see for miles.
I did think there was more to see of the castle when looking from the outside, more character to it when entering the grounds. I love the little old pub before the castle( the oldest pub in England) , that really added to it.
H.
£13 is a lot to ask to be honest... The new exhibits are very modern, but there's not enough to see. It feels like there's a lot less on display than before the refurbishment. It's not terrible or anything but we were out in about ninety minutes.
Be aware that you need to book the kid's section, themed around Robin Hood, and the cave tour separately. There's an extra fee for each of these!
There's step free access. Toilets available (pretty clean!) but no gender neutral ones aside from the disabled toilets.
A. D.
The Castle/former Palace, has recently been refurbished with a new exhibition display and is very impressive. The views and grounds as well as cafe/shop snd grounds are also worth a visit.
M. M.
The outside garden is the most beautiful thing there. Well maintained and kept. However, I think it was better to made us feel the real ancient ways of life of Robin Hood not the digitalisation that has been done.
R. P.
Fairly interesting although not much left of the original castle. Paid extra to visit the caves which were a bit disappointing as there were only 3 "rooms" we could visit. An interesting exhibition though covering 3 major events
k. s.
I’m hungover as hell after seeing bad religion last night. This isn’t a castle but it has some nice art inside. The deck chairs outside are wonderful for a weary traveller. Bees are friendly.
J. C.
Excellants tours and great place to walkabout. History is well displayed and staff very pleasant and willing to answer questions. I loved the Paul Smith gallery. The cave tour was great - super presenter)tour guide. Very animated story teller.
P. W.
£13 adults £9.50 kids apart from that over price entrance fee. And if ya a Nottingham resident you 10% discount unlucky if ya not. The robin hood adventure is good £3 adults £2.20 kids but only lasts 30 minutes which is long enough to do all the things. Can remember how much the caves are but wasn't interested. There is some great things to see but there isn't any clear signs so you can end up missing the best exhibitions and I will say the rubbish Paul Smith exhibition is not one of them
M.
Really impressed with the upgraded castle. I was expecting to be in and out in under an hour based on some reviews, but was there for at least 4 hours.
The rebellion gallery is really well done and perfectly blends the national history of civil war, luddites and parliamentary reform with a local flavour. Interactive screens work well - especially the one where you try to control a riot!
The art and exhibition spaces have been greatly improved - current Paul Smith exhibition is really enjoyable.
Lunch in the terrace cafe was superb. An excellent food offering and great views across the south and west of the city. Retail shop is good too with lots of local indie suppliers in stock.
Grounds look great, only slight disappointment was the cave tour, which is a bit underwhelming and short, although well presented.
If you’re after is a Disney style castle and wall to wall Robin Hood memorabilia, this may not be for you. But if you want to get a flavour of the city’s history and enjoy some art, get yer’sen dahn there.
A. R. A. M. (.
Just a heads up for people visiting the castle, it is magnificent from outside and they have kept the environment really good.
Also, the walking characters make everything very interesting.
But inside the castle it is just art display, you won’t find the castle adventure which you find in other castles. So, this castle is for art lovers and you might enjoy the walking characters who are very well informed.
J. B.
Wonderful experience, even greeted by Robin Hood. Well laid out activities. Green spaces. Lovely music in bandstand. Fantastic family day out.
M. D. G.
First time visiting since the renovation and I must say it is very impressive. If you have young children go early to explore this historic landmark and the fantastic spaces in this beautiful city. Have a lot of food and drinks at hand if you intend to spend majority of the day here. Food is served in the cafe but it is a bit expensive in my opinion but nice.
P. M. H.
The museum/galleries inside is quite worth the visit. Nottingham history is explained in an interesting way through immersive experience. Art, Lace, Pottery, and other galleries are here.
C. E.
Lovely staff. The place is beautiful. But obviously not a castle. They won't build a new one in case the royalists have to fight the parliamentarians again...
a.
It's an experience with history narrated by Kat! Had a great time. The museum is a nice reminder of the culture and history that stands the test of time. The past should never be forgotten but to inspire the future.
A. S.
Really good place. 10£ entry. If you are really into British history, this is amazing. Has a cafe on top. Robin hood's home. Friendly staff. Great architecture. Just visit if visiting Nottingham. Can have fun with friends and family. Would recommend 10/10.
W. L.
For those who want an experience about the ancient castle cave or history of Robin Hood be aware that even if this is all you want to see you must still pay the entrance to the castle galleries - basically you are obliged to pay £13 per person. So for 2 people it was £26 plus the other entrance fees including Cave, in total of came to £42 - definitely not worth it.
For the first time it was ok but I wouldn't go back. I found very little to see inside about Robin Hood's history but outside we took some beautiful pictures.
D. P.
The castle looks so much better, very well planned. Different spaces to gather and observe and learn about the rich history of the place. Beautiful gardens.
The kids park is simply A M A Z I N G. Really impressed by the remodelled of the entire place. Very well done to all involved in the project, it has improved so much our experience inside the castle. Definitely if you come to Nottingham, don’t leave the city before visiting the castle.
Enjoy as much as you can, wear in your best medieval self and feel as part of Robin Hood’s gang for a day.
D. G.
Great place to spend a whole day. A green space in the centre of the city. Lots of displays and exhibitions to see. Children are well catered for with the Robin Hood Adventure and Hoods Hideout adventure playground.
There is an excellent tea room and the cream teas in the Terrace Cafe are to die for. Loved it.
C. P.
Awesome afternoon out. Kyle was a very knowledgeable guide as he led the cave tour.
R. P. Q.
Lovely cafe and souvenir shop. Did not explore the castle and grounds. Buy will do next time!
N. W.
sadly it was just OK - the grounds and the views are amazing but the fact you need to purchase additional tickets for each experience which sometimes doesn't correspond with your chosen day/date is very frustrating and very expensive beyond the castle ticket (1 ticket for all should suffice) - we found this out, but I suppose its the Covid Risk Assessment which has to determine numbers. The key is to plan well in advance. We did pay £20 for the Robin Hood Experience which is almost opposite on Friar lane; this did give you a more focused interpretation of the legend.
D. I.
The best point of this castle is the view where you see Nottingham City around the castle, a pretty nice experience. The exhibition and other attractions are quite nice marked. The staff very friendly and helpful also the knowledge of history is satisfactory. All ages visitors can find something interesting. We spend two hours and didn't cover everything. Very helpful is booking in advance but you must keep timing under control.
S. M.
Our first visit to the newly refurbished Nottingham Castle.
It's been all done up and the Robin Hood experience is great, I'd say it's very expensive for a visit. The robin hood experience needs to allow more time so people can use the interactive games. We were pushed along which was not good as we hadn't tried everything. The Paul Smith exhibition is amazing, but for anyone who has kids with them it's " all clothes and stuff" (fin age ten)
The information on the various other floors is good. We enjoyed it,but lower the price and allow more time.
The children's play area is AWESOME
Great for families to picnic on the grassy areas,or mom's to have a coffee and chat while the kids play. The cool deck chairs are dotted around too.
M. R.
Well worth a visit, but quite expensive compared to what the castle once offered (it was always a great place to visit before the refurbishment).
Would be better if tickets offered a free return within a few months, or had special offers.
My 3 year old granddaughter really enjoyed the children's castle lookout play area, some children's swings would make this even better.
Maybe bringing the very expensive prices down in the gift shop would promote more sales. Some nice items in there, but I think they are over priced.
Would still recommend on the whole though, a good family day out
P. J. H.
I visited in August 2021, and had to have advance tickets for everything; the castle, the Robin Hood experience, and the caves.
The castle begins with illustrations, of what the middle keep would of looked like, back then.
Further on up, you have the ducal Palace. This is rammed with history; civil war, linen, art work / fine China, dresses. Then a Paul Smith exhibition of his personal history, object d'art / clothing. This is all included in the entry price. The civil war part has video monologues, interactive media from the era; and a whole section on the Luddites.
I paid extra for the Robin Hood experience, but was a bit disappointed to discover; it's more for children. They have two coves of virtual longbow archery, and two of staff fighting. After this there's a games room, where you rob someone, put out fires, or give out indulgences; depending on what time of day.
The cave tour was interesting, but even five year old kids were on that. Only a few caves though, but great history. Ps Henry the fifth was Welsh.
There's an adventure playground for children, and a gift shop with bows & arrows, and dress up kits.

After 20 years of living in Nottingham I finally decided to get round to visit! A spacious, open entrance area greeted us on arrival and we were soon in the grounds.
1st off we tried The Robin Hood experience which was both entertaining and informative, and didn't just focus on the "legend" stuff. Gave a history to how the story came about and was very informative. Some great interactive stuff as well to practice the obligatory archery and staff wielding!
Next we had a quick tour of the caves, which are numerous under Nottingham and again with a hugely informative guide (sorry forgot her name!).
Time for lunch then in the spacious cafe alongside local celeb Paul Smith who coincidentally was there to launch a new exhibition of his work. Not sure how long it is there but it was very interesting along with the other exhibitions on offer. One was obviously about the whole history of the castle alongside one on the old local lace industry, which in its day was huge.
I never realised how large the grounds were and you do get some magnificent views of the surrounding areas.
Well with a visit...👍
l. s.
Nottingham Castle is not really a castle and is more of an art gallery come museum built on the grounds where the Castle once stood . Some parts interesting like the rebellion gallery and the caves would probably have been good if the tours had not all been sold out, OK but not one of the best places we have visited and at £13.00 per adult not really worth it for my tastes.
P. S.
Not really a castle any more since being burnt down in the 1670s but the art galleries are worth a visit and the coffee shops are very good, one of which you can visit without going into the castle complex.
D. B.
I think the section on the history of Nottingham could be much larger and in depth, though I did enjoy the art exhibit on Laura Knight.
A. N.
This is the best place to visit and learn the 1000 years of thrilling history about the Robinhood. The castle, which is very near to the city centre, was recently reopened after renovation. This is place has a lot things to do such as the : Hood's Hideout,Brewhouse Yard, Ducal Place,Robin Adventures and many more. The galleries are full of historical stunning ceramics, women's clothes as far as from 1850s. We had a fantastic day as a family. The tickets are very affordable. This place is also wheelchair friendly .
S.
I would suggest to plan well in advance to cover Robinhood adventures which happens at specific timeslots. Castle cave tours can be covered at extra cost. Various artworks were displayed at my time of visit.
F. M.
Great experience at Nottingham Castle. We paid extra for the Cave tour which was really worth the £5. Our guide Georgia was brilliant and the information she gave was brilliant. We had a lovely time.
C. H.
Nothing negative to say about this place
Recently been to visit caves after castle's renovation. Went a fortnight later to watch The Pantaloons Touring Theatre Company's version Shakespeare's The Tempest in the open air. Best night out ever. The staff and volunteers here are friendly and professional. Value for money, carers get in free and I believe they do a pay what you can afford entry scheme. The cakes in the café are 100% worth going for.
M. B.
We went at 5:30pm and it was closed but from what I could see everything was very neat and tidy and pleasant and I’m sure it would have been as vastly as any other castle I’ve been to and I’d have loved it’s internal castliness as much as the external had we been able to amble round. The sun was out. We ate an obscene amount of cheese and then left again. Cheese gives me weird dreams but I don’t blame the castle for that, it’s my own fault for eating a semi baked camambert outside the portcullises
F. R.
A good place to visit and spend time with family.
Dont forget to visit the cafe and enjoy the views of the city
P. B.
Really enjoyed our visit took grandson and family
Lovely day sitting outside the cafe.
A. F.
The revamped castle is well worth a look. The Robin Hood experience is great for adults and Children.
The cave tour, although very interesting was a bit short given the wealth of caves around the city. The rest of the exhibition space within the castle / Ducal palace is excellent and worth a visit..
D. W.
The museum and grounds are really nice , but there isn't that much content inside to be worthy of the £13 per ticket non Nottingham resident price , you can probably get one of the best views over Nottingham from this place though
S. R.
Good day out. The Paul Smith exhibition was interesting and a bit different, didn't realise he came from Nottingham. Other galleries gave a good insight into Nottinghams History. Staff in the galleries really helpful. All in all a good afternoon out.
D. R.
A great piece of history on our doorstep! A fun filled day of history for all of the family with two cafés on site now, both with a range of hot and cold food available. The Paul Smith exhibition is running until February 2022 and was a nice addition to the day. The children particularly enjoyed the park, perhaps more aimed at those 5+ in all honesty. A lovely day out for all!
D. p.
It was nice to go and see after the renovations. £10 each as City residents would make this a rare treat. It was much better when we had free access to the garden. Personally I would be unlikely to rush to pay again, but would enjoy the gardens regularly and perhaps the cafe for a nominal fee, but not £10
M. R.
One of the finest English castles to visit, it has a number of mini attractions contained within to keep both young and old entertained. We visited during school holidays mid week and it wasn’t very busy around 11 Am. The crowds increased as the day passed by. Don’t forget to add on Robin Hood attraction for free , one can also add a timed entry slot afterwards, but it’s really popular so I recommend advance booking. There’s caves underneath which can be accessed for extra price. One can also add tram tickets in the same online booking for a slightly discounted rate. There’s a nice adventure playground where the kids can burn some energy running about Robin Hood themed forest . A family can easily spend 3-4 hours within the castle grounds.
M. C.
Nottingham Castle mixes interactive exhibits, games and a variety of different displays that help maintain interest throughout, despite having an awful lot to see. As one might expect, a lot of the material deals with the legendary Robin Hood but there is a lot of England's history wrapped up in this building and it is well covered in an interesting way.
We spent the best part of a day here and I am sure we missed a lot so I reckon it's well worth a visit if you are in Nottingham. It was nice that we could come and go as we pleased, making it possible to pop into the nearby city centre for lunch before heading back in for round two. Highly recommended.
m. R.
Great place to visit full of history, a great play area for kids to run wild and to burn off energy before heading off Inside the castle, you can learn so much dont be shy to open the draws and look at all the diffrent things that are in there. If you love fashion you can see where Paul Smith started from the fabrics he used, ideas and sketchers and different designs, the size of the tiny shop where he started and how his wife helped him. There is two cafes you can get a coffee and a bite to eat, and sit outside to enjoy the view of Nottingham. A great little gift shop with local products you can buy. We also got extra tickets and went into the caves with a guild, she was full of information and made it fun. We spent about 3 hrs there. But you could be there for a lot longer on a good day. Even sit on the deck chairs on the lawn and relax. If you come to Nottingham it's worth the visit.
M. U.
When you hear "Castle" you do expect there to be a bit of something there, other than the gatehouse. All that's left is the mound and parts of a ditch.
The "palace" on top is pretty, yes but having been converted to a gallery inside is somewhat devoid of character.
The Robin Hood experience, is great for kids, if you have any, or are a big kid yourself, but that, along with the grounds, and the lack of a castle leave you feeling underwhelmed.
Sure it's great for a fun day out for a family with young kids who want to play at being a Merry Man, but as adults visiting, it's lacking in substance.
G. “. E. M.
My first visit to our 'castle' in around four years. We entered through the new, interactive Robin Hood display (other options obviously available) and I can tell you that this is worth it. There are 6 huge screens that tell the tale of our infamous son. Behind the screens are interactive games. With this area being accessed by timed entry, I'm sure that on busy days you still get to experience everything. Good planning, team.
There has been a lot of refurbishment in the castle and it looks fresh and tidy while retaining prior character. All the temporary exhibitions were being deconstructed and so there really wasn't much else to see, so plan your visit to benefit from these (we couldn't).
A very good job has been done though on ppresenting Nottingham's rebellious past. Great displays here.
Many of my family said it was expensive to enter. We qualified for the Nottingham postcode discount, so it wasn't too bad in my mind. Only £3 more if you're outside Nottingham. You can add on an option for a cave tour too.
I like what they've done. We'll done.
t. h.
We took our granddaughters here they had a great time lots to see and do the interactive screens are good they really enjoyed making pots and vases and the archery in Robin Hood adventure. The new playpark has lots to explore houses and bridges the girls spent a lot of time in here we took a picnic but there are 2 cafes and a gift shop .I would say its good value we spent about 4hrs there but didn't do the cave tour I would recommend a visit.
A. F.
Lovely historical building with nice view of the city from above
C. B.
It was OK. The Robin Hood adventure was fun but too brief. The Paul Smith exhibition was good and the art gallery lovely. But I would have liked to find out more about the history of the building itself - perhaps I was looking in the wrong places.
w. m.
The castle is more of a museum than an old castle because if it's history (you will see when you get there). But it was incredibly informative and interesting! Robin adventures was great and the cave tours is a must!
S. S.
We had a fantastic day out at Nottingham Castle with 2 of the lads I support at work. I thoroughly enjoyed the Paul Smith exhibition
The Robin Hood adventure was their favourite part as it had the interactive games which they could have played on for hours.
The cafe was very nice and prices not too bad.
The absolute highlight was the Castle Caves final part of our full day out. Hannah the guide was informative and humorous she literally brought alive events and had everyone hanging on every word.
The lads finished it off by buying Castle Masks and an amazing fridge magnet and we all had a wonderful day out.
Having the deck chairs out was also a good idea. We took advantage of those on a few occasions.
A. R.
A very beautiful place with an interesting museum and very helpful staff. There was a particularly knowledgeable and engaging guide in one of the galleries who directed us to look at the exhibits in the drawers under the main pieces which was a great bit of work! You know who you are! Well done!!!
T. S.
Plenty to see but a little confusing. Robin hood exhibition included in entry but you need to book a time to see it....we were not told this when we arrived so missed this one. Wanted to see the caves but not able to book on line (although should be able to( and this attraction was full. Very nice tea shop and visitor centre st the entrance. Great view from the castle terrace. Expensive but worth a visit.
A. W.
A really good afternoon out was had here. It's £13 per adult and is good for a couple of hours. It has plenty of history and knowledge to be taken in. It has a lovely restaurant inside and a gift shop. It offers tours or you can just go it alone. All in all a must to visit when in Nottingham.
t. s.
Fabulous day out enjoyed the the tunnels and the art was outstanding
F. F. S. 2.
Great day! Kids loved the play area, the caves, the Cafe and the interactive experience. Would definitely recommend pre booking all tickets. Staff are lovely and very knowledgeable, especially Meghan and Joel who led our caves tour. Many hours of entertainment
R. M.
An enjoyable experience around the castle, well worth a visit
M. M.
I'm a local and it's the first time I've been since the refit. The galleries are well curated and eclectic and the NTU exhibition very thought provoking. Very accessible for all. I didn't have time to see it all but will be back again soon. Many thanks to all.
N. C.
The castle itself is very aesthetically pleasing, sat on top of a hill. The views are breathtaking from the top. The only criticism is that the inside is very modern and there is very little to do with Nottingham itself and its history. There are lots of modern art displays and it felt more like an art gallery than a castle. Restaurant is nice and serves good food and drink.
N.
Not much of a castle anymore, so if you're a history buff looking for a castle experience, try somewhere else. Nottingham castle is a museum and say gallery, so if that's your thing this place is a great day out. Had a wonderful time but wouldn't really pay to come back again
G. H. (.
Definitely coming back for another visit. The curators and staffs work hard to present art and history in an interactive yet representative way. Don't worry about boring things hung on the wall. Everyone could learn a bit of history and those who prefer views could enjoy the landscape at the cafe. A beautiful place to visit.
B. S.
Such beautiful grounds. Very clean and well managed.
D. L.
Excellent day out so much to do loved the Robin Hood experience with all the interactive games and information
V. G.
Not much to see inside Castle, it's mainly exhibitions. But our family enjoyed couple of hours of visit
B. M.
Only had an hour here, as they were closing at 4p.m. Loved it, but ensure you have more time to explore.
Galleries were good, the cave city and Robin hood are separate ticket I've been told
J. H.
Some nice collections and exhibitions but a little pricey, you have to pay extra for the Robin Hood exhibition also. I never knew Paul Smith (fashion designer) is from Nottingham until today...
R. F.
We went down the fascinating cave tour in Nottingham Castle! A thrilling way to explore the historic underground fabric of the city!
L. F. M.
Great place for the kids - more attractions for the little ones rather than adults. A little over priced for what you get. Covid safe. Staff are really lovely.
J. L.
A magnificent refurbishment at Nottingham Castle. Had a lovely afternoon here viewing all the exhibitions which explores over 1,000 years of Nottingham History right up to the legend of Robin Hood. The Paul Smith Museum is brilliant very informative and well presented - he was a local lad from Beeston !Children will love it here with all the technology and things to do, especially the Adventure Playground which was very impressive. Prices are £13 plus £3.00 for the Robin Hood experience and £5.00 for the caves - we got refunded as the caves are tight and not keen on enclosed spaces. Shout out to the volunteers dotted around the place they are doing a great job 👏
T. R.
Would say it’s an essential attraction to do when visiting Nottingham. Stunning panoramic views of the city around the castle. Inside is an art gallery and a cafe. Not too expensive to enter either.
L. C.
Very educational and entertaining. We loved the owl exhibits placed around the grounds.
K. L.
Great place to visit, also the caves under the castle. Thank you so much Joel (and manager) for being so helpful for us with our service dog. Lovely and warming! Mark & Kore
s. e.
Went to visit ecto 1 ghostbuster car on the castle grounds, also went for a walk round very nice
K. W.
Visited today. 2 adults, no children. Parked in the park and ride for £4 and got dropped nearby. I had 2 days off work and am a local so wanted to see the new and improved Naughty castle. (As a kid I called it naughty castle because I couldn't say Nottingham.) Wow, I am well impressed with the new look. We pre Booked all tickets which we struggled with working out how long to leave between each ticket, after saying HOW Much? I still remember the old price lol. It was actually worth it in the end, and after going around the castle/ducal palace we went for a bite to eat before the Robin hood tickets started, to kill some time. We had the afternoon tea £20, which was amazing which was big enough for 4 (or 3) if you're greedy and there were 2 of us, so we had a doggy bag to take the cakes with us as we ran out of time and had to get on the next tour, and a nice man filled the teapot up with water again when we ran out as the cakes needed liquid to help them go down easier, so I recommend giving yourself longer to eat before continuing the tours. Lovely views from the terrace. We got told we were the 1st to have the full afternoon tea since the reopening. I definitely recommend it as a full on luncheon. It came on a fancy stand, the plates and cutlery were nice and it was sunny but the wind still blew the rocket leaves off the top sandwiches.I liked the interactive games in the new Robin hood activity section and as only 6 can play at one time on all the games I wanted longer but we got told the next tour was coming in. Still under reduced covid numbers for safety reasons. The cave tour was very informative but Mortimer hole cave isn't open yet so you need to visit Brewhouse yard to see more caves via the Trip to Jerusalem pub preferably. Who needs to go abroad when we've got this on our doorstep!
S. M.
The entrance to the Ducal Palace is steep. It has large roomy galleries. There are adequate toilet facilities . The tea room has a small menu but there is plenty of seating.
M. T.
Visited this place and had a good time. Shame there isn't any of the main Castle left. The cave visit was a good place to visit. The guide was very informative and had a good knowledge. He was History student.
N. W.
Pleasant enough place but a bit overpriced for what is there - not really a castle anymore after being demolished!
Cave tour for £5 each a bit much - basically walked down a few steps and saw a couple of rooms without many points of interest
On the plus side the staff were friendly!
V. P.
Beautiful view, great exhibition, lovely coffee shop, free with AftFund membership
N. P.
My Favourite part was the Fashion Designer History. I also really enjoyed the interactive history on the Castle itself, I learnt so much about Nottingham just by visiting here.
E. G.
Informative and beautiful exhibitions, both permanent and temporary (namely "A Female Gaze"). Interactive Robin Hood experience was interesting even for adults! Nice views from above and amazing playground. Will definitely be back :)
B. W.
The newly refurbished castle is an excellent place to visit, informative about the city's history and Robin Hood. Cave tour is short but there are a few steps. Stunning views. Rolling programme of exhibitions. Tea room.
o. m.
The recent renovation to the visitor experience is really worthwhile. Couldn't book the cave tour due as it was fully booked already. Would have liked to have seen this too
A. C.
Well worth a visit, plenty of interesting things to see including the popular robin hood statue.
S. M.
Cool place to explore better to book on line could not book caves tour nice place
A. I.
It's very informative experience. Not as picturesque as I thought it would be. Nothing like the Tower of London. But you're interested in history, then this will be a great experience.
C. W.
Loved the place especially the live music .Staff very friendly and helpful. Winston the dog enjoyed his time at the Bandstand listening to the music. Definitely would come again for a visit.
D.
Several places we couldn't get in to, mainly the learning spaces. We're told to leave basement level as there was a school in but we hadn't seen any sign around the lift entrance and exit to say so.
Staff were polite about it but more signage needed.
W. C.
Good place to visit and it was impressed. Become an iconic of Nottingham.
P. R.
The castle view is stunning, the greenery is well taken cared of, it has a lot of seating areas to relax and just enjoy the sun.
We enjoyed the Robin Hood Adventure part of the whole experience, it is obviously aimed for children but adults seemed to enjoy it as well. The archery interactive part of it was not 100% working, very glitchy and some bows were actually broken.
Inside the castle, there were mostly paintings and some pieces of art to look at. The Rebellion section was a bit more on pair with the history of the castle and the medieval era.
Outside, children get to play in a quite nice play area, very medieval style, however I think some parts of it aren't very safe for smaller children.
There's a little café area with seating outside just near the gift shop where you need to pay for the tickets to enter.
In my opinion, the tickets are too pricey for what is offered for us to visit and the prices of the food and drinks are so high, you actually think twice before paying for it.
There is also a café snack area inside the castle where you can order some food too.
We didn't get to see the Caves as it was fully booked when we arrived.
Overall, I think Nottingham Castle is a place where you visit once, I did enjoy some things but was let down by most of the exhibitions being not related to the medieval era.
A. M.
We went for the first time since the refurb. Kids enjoyed Robin Hood Adventures and the interactive games inside the Castle. My only criticism is that once inside you did not know you were actually in the castle really.
J. G.
Amazing place to visit. So much to do with my 5 year old grandaughter. Cannot to go again and book the caves.
K. “. J.
As a local, it was nice to be back after the refurbishment. There was nothing that made me think it was outstanding. The grounds are much tidier and its a pleasant place to spend some time, however, we didn't do the cave tour or the Robin Hood experience. Cafés were nice. One note, why have you kept the really small gap to pass people at the top of the hill / bottom of the steps?. I've been to events in the past and its an awful bottle neck. It was a shame to see it was still there.
J. T.
Fantastic makeover and well arranged arts. Crafts and history of Nottingham. Many galleries are too dark and have signs too far back in display cabinets or are too low for me to see.
J. L.
We were lucky to be there with the girls on an inset day when it was not busy. They enjoyed the new adventure playground. Robin hood experience was very disappointing. The bows were too heavy and almost impossible to see what you were doing. The staffs were a little better but very slow. The film was very poor with characters on the screen looking like something ressurected from Captain Pugwash and the stories lacked excitement. There was not enough time to explore everything and we were ushered out in under half an hour. The rebellion gallery was a confusing space lacking focus. We ate in the café in the Castle. Food was slow cold and expensive and the sauce on the eggs Benedict terrible! The art exhibition and textiles were well displayed but they always were! Beeston Brownies in the gatehouse cafe can be recommended. Overall the new addition seemed dated and disappointing for the amount of money it has cost and for the entrance fee!
A.
Disappointed. The underground cave was only two rooms, didn't realise the castle is now an art gallery. The Robin Hood adventure is for children. However for the price it was worth the money. Hot there at 10.30 and left at 2pm. Ncp carpark cost us £14 which is shocking!!
B. A.
Went yesterday, never been before so i don't know what improvements they have made, however it was a good experience. The children's 7&9 had so much fun. The staff were so interactive with children aswell as the parents, in depth details in history and heritage. Amazing playground, kids had so much fun. the coffe shop serve the best coffee in the City so far i usually test the espresso to check how good the coffe is, this one is the best, staff are great and culturely sensitive. Wonderful view to the city.
J. P.
Nice place to take photos, to go with the kids, nice park to play, inside of the castle lots of fun things to do with kids and for adults too. With a cafeteria inside nice to chill and enjoy the view. The staf was to nive and the toilette clean.
The only thing not so great, the price, to to expensive the ticket... if a familly of 4 persons will go it will take to much money.
My advice: go before 4 pm , i was there at that time and i did not see everithing
N. H.
We spent a nice morning here looking around. The exhibitions were informative and the guide was excellent. I would highly recommend this to families. It is notable how they have recognized the contribution diverse communities have made to Nottingham, an excellent day. Also the reenactment boys and girls were there on the day we went and added to the experience.
R. B.
Long time since I went here used to love it went many times when younger, but years since my last visit , not cheap 25 pounds for 2 but still great place to visit
R. P. W.
Fascinating reinterpretation of the historic site, merging ancient and contemporary narratives. Huge amount to see and do with plenty of interactive content for all ages. Allow yourself a couple of hours to absorb it all.
K. M. P.
This is a fairy decent castle, not too big, not too small, in England. Loved the tour.
S. S.
Visited over half term with my children aged 6 and 9. We really enjoyed visiting however I felt the place was alittle confused in showcasing the castle. The Robin Hood experience was decent however following the interactive part you are taken back into the castle where you would have already looked around with your entry fee.
Also the floor with all the military memorabilia, what has that got to do with the castle or the legend of Robin Hood, It's a complete waste of space and could be used to have something theme related.
Also, I understand Paul Smith is from Nottingham, but why do they need to display a whole floor dedicated to him? This isn't the Clothes show live, it's a Castle.
The outside play area is lovely and I really enjoyed the place but it's very confused as to what it is. Please please change the none related areas.
D. H.
Well worth a visit. We were there as part of the Gorgeous Georgians event, hosted by Black Knight. Thoroughly enjoyable
G. D.
Beautiful place its definitely more a of a art museum than historical castle but definitely worth a visit for the amazing views
A. S.
I know it's silly cus I am 20 but my boyfiend just took me on my first ever date there and the castle itself doesn't disappoint. I heavily recommend the Robin Hood experience.
D. B.
Really impressed, excellent place to visit with the kids.
Great play area and facilities.
We will be back 👍
K. S.
Good value for money. Good park and Robin good adventure.
Could’ve been a couple more activities for the kids since it was half term
S. A. R.
Massive castle grounds and the museum is amazing. One could really get lost in the beauty and history around them. It really is a sight to see. Although book a full day for it because it really takes some time to do. But its worth every minuite in there. The cave tour is also very much worth the visit.
P. C.
Interesting place to visit, did the Cave Tour
Good exhibitions. Lace exhibition very interesting
plus good views over Nottingham
M. F.
Fun experience! Great views from the castle and interesting museum with active and engaging displays.
G. L.
We went on a Saturday so there was re-enacting of Robbin wood, his merry men a king and his solders, it was very fun watching them archer.
G. H.
We went for the jousting and annual show, a great day out for children and adults alike. Could not be faulted in anyway, does get extremely busy so leave plenty of time to nose around the stalls, watch the displays and join in the numerous and sometimes quite fascinating interactive facilities, extremely informative about day to day living, weaponry, archery, cooking, food stuffs you name it!. Stepped in history and legends…. one for the bucket list!
D. R.
Very cool little museum inside. Tons of information and knowledgeable staff positioned around the grounds capable of describing the surroundings.
S. D.
Not what I was expecting at all. Nothing of the medieval castle seems to remain and very little information about the actual history of the castle. It's just a (not very good) art gallery with a bit of a garden. Hopefully the renovations over the next couple of years will improve the visitor experience and actually explain the castle's history.
M. J.
The castle is impressive but not enough there for the price of the ticket. I wouldn't think anyone would spend more than 2 hours there.
V. M.
Absolutely amazing experience! When we visited, there was a garrison of sodiers, 18th century historical reenactment. It really took us back in time!
S. H.
Not much. History on the castle. The staff are very helpful and happy. Had a lovely welcome.
M. T.
Grata castle, very different sand unique. Couldn't go inside as they are renovating, but there plenty to see outside. Should be really good to visit once the renovation is complete.
J. k.
What a beautiful place, great food, great staff and my god what a great building/cave. Highly recommended if you haven't been and in the area.
P. S.
Decent but poor value for money and no return in year ticket like alot of venues. Food very expensive for what it is and the gift shop is a bit of a rip off as well.
S. S.
The exhibitions really don't justify the cost of admission. The best bits are Rebellion and the Paul Smith exhibition. The worst - the Mercian Regiment rooms. Yawn a minute. I feel sure the regiment deserves better. Rebellion is interactive, engaging and exciting for all. There's very little else for youngsters apart from the grounds and maybe the Robin Hood bits, but we didn't pay for that. The Art gallery content is as it always was. There's a pottery bit, a lace bit and a shop. The Paul Smith exhibition is fun, there's lots to see. I paid £13 and only enjoyed 2 parts. If I'd brought kids I'd be pretty fed up.
Update 3/5/22.
Visited with guests who only speak Russian. No translation technology!! What a massive oversight. There's every language in the world in Nottingham from refugees to tourists, students to long term residents and only English provided. Bizarre. Every member of staff I spoke to either said they had mentioned it to the bosses or acted like it was a Nobel prize winning idea. Not going there again.
S. I.
Good museum, Robin Hood exhibition very entertaining with interactive games.
A. B.
First visit since the refurbishment- it is really well done The female gaze exhibition was fantastic
J. M.
Really great day out for the family. A little pricey when you include the cave tour for what you actually get and seem the staff were good the the curator who did our tour was fantastic. Had a nice drink at the café as well. Shame that it may be closing down soon.
A. L.
Absolutely loved it. Me and my brother went for our first time there. Before we knew it, it was closing time. So easy to get lost within the castle as well as the grounds. First time up to Nottingham as well. Definitely will be back. Recommend going for an awesome day out full of history. Ideal for every one. Staff are absolute gems and really friendly. The cafe staff are awesome too. Cater to most food diets as well. Just loved it! Thank you.
J. L.
A lovely place to visit. This is in the regenerated part of Nottingham which looks lovely.
Hopefully more of Nottingham will be smartened up
W. E.
Caves tour was great!
Georgia was very knowledgeable of the castle and gave us great facts about the different sites.
Art gallery on the top floor was the best part about it along with all the garments from the lace markets.
Didn't get to go on the Robin Hood experience although that seemed decent.
Lovely view from cafe balcony, although it would have been even better to see the view from the very top.
M. K.
The restoration of the mansion/ art gallery is fantastic. The exhibits and displays are beautifully presented, and I found the grouping of objects aesthetically pleasing, informative, and inspirational. The restaurant is also really nice, with a good choice for lunch. The new entrance building is really light and spacious, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. The Paul Smith exhibition is great, and I really enjoyed my visit.
C. E.
Lovely day out!
J. M.
I attended a school reunion event for 550 people held in a marquee in the grounds. The staff were amazingly well organised, the food was delicious and the setting was so lovely, right in the heart of Nottingham.
P. W.
Had a lovely visit here, the galleries and exhibits where all lovely and very informative, we also had a great tour of the caves underneath the castle with a very helpful tour guide. Beautiful views of the city can be seen from the cafe. However I would say that calling the tour an underground adventure is a little misleading. Overall very good value for money
M. C.
I went to the new cafe for a coffee during a meeting. We did the entire meeting there looking into the castle grounds. It was a great way to meet.
L. H.
Nice day out robing Hood experience was short but entertaining!
C. F.
Very nice. It is a shame you have to pay for everything in Nottingham... the picture with Robin Wood is almost free, just have to pay for parking. 🤣
C. 3.
Didnt go in as full and were taling prebooked only, however is quite pricey.
Staff enthusiastic and friendly and nice shop and cafe available even if you don't tour the castle.
Awesome rock formation around the back and statues at the side.
P. R.
Visited early September 2021. Lovely day out. The new playground is fantastic. Lots to see in the museum/gallery. The Robin hood exhibition was an extra £3 each for the adults, free for under 5s (which is fair enough because they weren't really old enough to do much in there, but it was an exciting exhibition. Multiscreen immersive storytelling bit was great. Theres two separate cafe areas now which is good. I hope the ticket price to get into the grounds will go down eventually because at £13 it's too much to visit regularly
U. J.
The view from there is pretty impressive and their collection of historical dresses is not bad either.
H. H.
Very lovely place to visit.
A. P.
Very nice broad view of the city. Interesting collection of pieces inside the museum. Also has an outdoor playground for little kids.
Y. K.
The new Nottingham Castle is part museum, part entertainment. We visited the Robin Hood adventure which is a 25 minutes experience part interactive game and part history lesson. The history/folklore lesson is a bit disorientating because you have to spin around to follow the narrative.
There seems to be a few other activities to visit and could take 1h or 2 to immerse into it. The cafe offers usual hot and soft drinks with cakes or pastries. The kids enjoyed the hideout which in my opinion is cleverly designed. Great fun!
I believe that the Nottingham Castle Trust needs to encourage more people to visit it. I went during October school term and felt it was poorly attended. It is a great day out (in the summer, it'd be awesome) and something different to do right in the middle of Nottingham city centre.
Z. S.
Nice place to visit. Not really a castle more of a Palace of which you don't get to see for the entrance fee. There are extra charges for other attractions. To be honest nice half day out but expected more for the prices charged. Avoid the Robin Hood experience its a bit of a joke.
K. b. w.
Has a great art gallery and coffee shop. The staff are really really great. It's not even that expensive to go in ether. There is some wonderful exibts to see.
B. E.
Lovely castle/palace! Great views! We went in half term and they had Halloween activities on for the kids. Robin Hood experience was fantastic would definitely recommend for a day out especially being so close to the city centre!
J. C.
I think is a lot of money for what is on show inside the museum. Food prices are a little high . Its not a cheap day out with tram/ train fare or car parking .
F. O.
Hood Hideout at the castle is absolutely a great place to bring children to for exploration.
S.
Great looking castle and wonderful interior.
Wasn't impressed with the 'Underground Adventure'. Tour was meant to last for 20 mins, lasted about 5 and consisted of about 3 different rooms and during which the tour guide talked fast.
R. D.
A bit disappointing, not all the castle was open for viewing, only certain areas allowed in. Paid an extra £5 for the cave tour which lasted about 40 minutes and incorporated 3 ' cave ' rooms.
A. E.
when you visit the castle, or what's left of the old castle, you Must do the cave tours. Intricate network of caves that criss cross all over the English landscape. Steeped in so much history beyond medieval all the way back to Celtic history.
r. s.
Good historical tour of caves and Robin Hood exhibition
B. C.
Great experience. Interactive learning and immersive learning with virtual reality games. I do think the castle is a bit too small to warrant both the entrance fee AND additional charges for caves and robin hood, they should be included. Staff were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful
K. W.
The new park is great x would recommend the Robin Hood experience too x
J. H.
Only able to visit it in the dark after it was closed, and it was still super cool!
N. W.
A really great day out! I visited here back in the eighties when it was dull and depressing. Now it has been brought to life, with beautiful flower borders, lawns and deck chairs from which to enjoy the fantastic views of Nottingham and beyond. There is a wonderful new children's adventure playground which made me wish I still had young children! Around the grounds displays have been placed explaining what would have been at that point at various times in the castle's history: I really liked the pictures here showing what the buildings would have looked like long ago - including all the chimneys with curling smoke. It was all brought to life so much more effectively than the tired old-style diagrams I remember.
Inside the art display I remembered had been carefully and imaginatively displayed (and even included some pictures I'd recently seen on TV). The Paul Smith exhibition was a real treat. I was very impressed with the Rebellion Exhibition on riots and demonstrations through Nottingham's history. Interactive, video and physical displays brought the history to life brilliantly.
Another delight was the excellent cafe where we could enjoy a cuppa and cake outside in the sunshine, although the interior looked inviting too (I loved the wall of buttons!).
We spent four hours at Nottingham Castle, and still left with more to see for next time. I will definitely come again !
I. C.
Loved every single bit of the castle. The gallery is fascinating, and all the floors have something interesting to see. We've been really pleased to see that the lift was working as we were with the pushchair.
We definitely recommend to families with children.
W. S.
Price was brilliant, could not argue with how much it cost to get in. But if your expecting a medieval castle, something like Warwick, you'll be in for a shock!!! More a working man's Versailles, than somewhere the sheriff of Nottingham plotted against robin hood!!! The art work in the stately home, aka the 'castle', was pretty decent, but that's all there was!
On the positive side, the views are impressive of Nottingham and the surrounding countryside, and the kids adventure play ground was worth the price alone! Plus the staff were extremely polite and funny! Will definitely go again, but at least next time, I'll know not to expect any jousting!!!
E. A.
The advert on pricing outside of the castle was not very clear. Initially is an adult £3 but later found out it was £14 and £3 extra for other add-ons.
F. A.
The experience was nicer than I expected. It's quite a nice place to visit.
L. P.
Great day out!! The improvement are really good and loved the Robin Hood Experience. Very fair admission price
V. K.
The art gallery is replete with paintings from different European schools 19th and 20th century. If you are a fan of the legend of Robin hood, you will find the artifacts there quite interesting. The castle itself is not very big but is a beautiful example of medieval architecture.
r. h.
I was actually contacted to work at an event which was set in the grounds against the amazing backdrop of the castle it was open to the public while we arrived and was being enjoyed by family's on the play area, tourists and locals alike. Will definitely be going back to enjoy it but not in a working capacity! Staff on the gate were helpful and friendly!
E. S.
Very good. Much better than before. However, need much better signage, in all places. More information needed about exhibits in the ducal palace. Being deaf, explanation by staff is not much help. Shame the Robin Hood experience is not included in the price. Only 2 caves to visit. Terrace café excellent and very good value. Perhaps alert people to the step outside.
M. C.
Lovely grounds
There was a protest outside the castle when we visited but they weren't loud or in the way ,definitely worth a visit
E. G.
Incredible display of actors moving you to the medieval time.
Much worthy with kid and to spend a solid morning.
A. P.
Great day out, very different to what it used to be. To get the full experience, book on an event weekend. You won't be disappointed. Great food just outside the Castle too. It's the best area of Nottingham.
E. H.
The Paul Smith exhibition in particular looked amazing. My baby was enthralled! The grounds beautiful, adventure area looks great, terrace cafe feels really fresh and its views stunning. Food also very nice. Lovely day out for the family.
S. F.
Great spot to visit in centre of Nottingham. Nice outdoor grounds with good views and interesting exhibitions in the museum.
D. S.
We really enjoyed our visit to Nottingham Castle. The exhibitions were excellent and the Robin Hood experience was fun with the interactive games (kids would enjoy).
G. N.
I thought the visit to the castle was value for money. The Robin Hood adventures exhibition is intereractive and good for adults and older children and is finished off with more intereractive screens showing the history of the castle and Nottingham itself. You also have the chance to visit the caves as part of your trip. There is excellent play park for children that my daughter enjoyed.
T. J.
Not really a castle, sorry a bit disappointed, but really a good exhibition on all floors.👍
V. C.
Not soo much satisfying
J. T.
Excellent place to visit, recommend that you pre book online first. Cafe and gift shop near entrance. Up steps or a slope to Castle, art displays, history of castle and interactive boards for children. Book for cave tour and Robin Hood experience. We saw Paul Smith collection and biography, beautiful restaurant with freshly prepared meals by a chef. Really enjoyed it.
D. M.
Lovely place, wonderful playground for kids, highly recommended! We had coffee in cafe, very enjoyable
S. R.
It's a lovely building and the caves are good fun. Tea shop also lovely. There is a brilliant play park. The real disappointment really comes in the Robin Hood experience which is an over engineered and boring 25 minutes, even as a huge fan of history.
The cave tour was also a little underwhelming. I remember a much more interesting tour when I went with my mum ten years ago.
Overall it's a nice day and the archery and fighting is brilliant. Really great. Just let down by the poor use of tech and the limited time to use it!
M. B.
Great place to visit
A.
Awesome!🥰
B. L.
Great staff, very helpful, amazing temporary exhibition of Paul Smith, should be great to attend with children when it's warmer.
S. J.
Some nice art galleries but fairly limited. Most suitable with young children I think.
S. H.
Excellent, enjoyed castle, guide's very helpful and friendly, restaurant food+ service great, visit enjoyable
R. S.
Well laid out and accessible to all because of lifts. Hopefully I will see the caves at some point.
D. C.
The castle exhibition explains the history or Nottingham extremely well. I particularly enjoyed the art exhibitions.
T. K.
Kind of expected to see something related with medievals and Robbin hood but instead I got into art museum🤔 anyways nice views from the top 💯
D. M.
Fairly overpriced and underwhelming to be honest...Best part is probably the play park
M.
A nice way to kill a bit of time..
The castle and the grounds are lovely and really well kept and the staff are really friendly
B. S.
Good. Paul Smith (clothes designer) exhibition was quite good (inspiring). The art gallery was excellent and the rest of exhibitions were enjoyable especially in the lower floors with the history of the Castle. We paid extra for the caves, quite good, felt a bit short yet still kind of fun. Did not do the Robin Hood Tour within the castle. Staff said it’s good.
C. M.
Very fun and interesting place to visit! We happened to go on a re-enactment day, and there was a load of good stalls, great music and the like on, including some falconry.
The museum inside the castle itself is also very nice now it's been redone, lots of interactive exhibits and well worth paying a bit extra to get to see the Robin Hood exhibit or the caves if you fancy it.
H. O.
Visited today with my children aged 8 and 10. Had such a great afternoon learning about the history. My technology obsessed children loved the interactive exhibitions bringing history to life. I had a fantastic time reliving childhood memories. Great value for money for the time we spent there. The historical reenactment group we very authentic and so enthusiastic to share their love of history with us.
Thank you, we will certainly be back soon.
J. W.
We enjoyed the hands on games but thought overall it was expensive for what there is on show. I seem to recall a lot more artefacts displayed in the past
P. H.
Good to see the castle is now open following the multi million pound refurbishment. Some interesting exhibits although I would have expected the ticket price to be an access all areas deal. Sadly though, some areas of the castle were guided tours at additional cost which didn't offer such good value for money and will make the additional areas too expensive for those on a budget.
M. A.
Not really a castle but a ducal Palace which houses a small museum and art gallery.
Don't go if you are expecting suits of armour and tales of daring do.
Do go if you like Paul Smith designs and a bit of local history.
The play area looked fun for the younger folk.
S. R.
Lovely place for history but wish we had been given information about booking extras when paying for tickets
B. A.
Great adventure. Great development of the castle.
V. T.
Went to the Paul Smith exhibition today at the Castle. Great exhibition from one very cool guy. Was really impressed with the redevelopment that’s been carried out. We paid a small amount extra to check out the newly excavated caves on the Cave Tour. The guide Hannah was informative & entertaining. Impressed all round! Go check it out ❤️🏰❤️🏰❤️
K. P.
So after so long closed and so much spent on improvements I have to say I'm hugely disappointed 😞. The outdoor play area is wonderful and the kids loved playing on it but other than some well branded deck chairs and a few well framed historical photos I cant see anything that would make me revisit nor recommend it to others. The two main intresting activities to do once you've paid for your entry fee (which isn't small) require you to book separately and pay again! Poor show Notts, feels like a missed opportunity.
R. J.
It's a nice place to visit for a stroll in the park or a look at the art gallery. They both have contemporary art and more classic art like paintings on display, and some exhibitions about the history of Nottingham on display.
M. T.
Nice place to walk around with cool views of Nottingham and surrounding suburbs. The art museum is pretty nice, too, though limited.
A. *.
More like a gallery for me but still worth to visit at least once. Delicious breakfasts at café 😍
T. F.
Great affordable attraction with museums, art galleries, and interactive experiences
T. G.
I love Notts, but the castle 🏰 refurbishment is a little disappointing. It wasn’t great previously, but this is just more of the same I’m afraid. Maybe things will improve when we are eventually out of covid.
D. A.
I went with my grandson for the day, he's 4 so not really interested in the history of the castle. He enjoyed the play/climbing area which we visited several times during the day. We visited the the caves tour and also the Robin Hood tour. I found there wasn't enough time in the Robin Hood tour to have a go on or look at everything there in the time you are allotted. The interactive crossbows and dule with little John were great but not all of them worked so had to wait for someone to finish.
J. J.
Very disappointed in the castle/Palace my husband and I feel its to modern, expected to old exhibitions of life in the olden ages
C. F.
Very nicely done up. Great park for kids and adults 👏
c. m.
Would have been nice to see caves, luddite exhibition was good, possibly a bit expensive, given what you can see...
F.
The castle looked like a nice attraction but unfortunate it was closed for refurbishment. We saw the Robin Hood statue and had a nice walk around the outside of the castle.
The grounds look nice and medieval with what looked like dungeons.
L. C.
The castle is a museum now, you don't have the opportunity to see too much of it, but is ok and just 7£ but worth just to hear from the cave's guide the history in a funny way, for and extra 5£
B. E.
All the staff were helpful and friendly but the café food was poor.we paid for everything The Robin Hood experience was good ,the caves well there was only two so not very impressed although the young girl was very knowledgeable and friendly. We thought we would see the castle but we didn't so basically we paid a lot of money to go in a museum, very disappointed to expensive for what it is.
C.
The building is beautiful from the outside but we were unfortunately really disappointed with this visit. I visited the site about 7 years ago and absolutely loved it. This time, I brought my partner and told him how great it was. I didn't know it was being changed so much to the point that there is almost nothing about the castle to see unless you pay for the extra add ons. It's pretty much an art gallery which, I wouldn't mind if that's what I wanted to see but there was nothing really to learn apart from in the small rebellion gallery, which we really enjoyed but not worth £13 a head. Such a shame really, it used to be brilliant. Also, there is a massive lack of signage so, as we weren't aware there was nothing to see, we spent a lot of time walking back and forth trying to find something to do. We booked on to the cave tour which I did years ago only to learn that it's 3 small caves, nothing like the previous experience and, although our tour guide was absolutely lovely and really knowledgeable, it was still disappointing and not value for money at an extra £5 per head.
D. G.
Lovely grounds and interesting galleries and museums. The cave tour was okay, the guide was more interesting than the caves! Ask lots of questions to get your money's worth.
T. 0.
One of many nice old castles and keeps that I passed by during my roadtrip, in England, Wales and Scotland back in 2001, that I took time to visit and enjoyed exploring.
For me it was the highlight of the trip when travelling around the UK to see all these old castles and fortifications everywhere in diffrent designs and sizes.
Many still in good condition and maintained, both small ones and other massive.
This one was quite a good sized castle with museum as well.
Interesting place with much history and also the famous Sheerwood forest not far away.
J. V.
The view from the top is amazing. Has a number of galleries. Definitely worth a visit.
D. S.
I was a little disappointed, I was expecting to see artifacts and the rooms laid out historically not an art gallery as such. Also the cave tour was more like the cellars not caves! The guide herself was entertaining and knew her history.
L. C.
The people and facilities are excellent but I was a little disappointed with the cave tour, which was brief and, I thought, not very well conducted. The castle and indeed, the city, have a long and interesting history and it was the galleries that explain this, which I found most interesting.
D. P.
Great place to visit. Lovely views from walls and great children's play fort.
C. R.
We enjoyed our visit very much we took our 2 granddaughters they also enjoyed it. We had a super meal in your restaurant. The only criticism I would give is that we booked a tour of the caves and we were disappointed that we only saw two caves we would have preferred more caves and less talking the young lady spoke so fast and for so long we couldn't understand a lot of what she was saying she is a very knowledgeable person but to much information and to little time to deliver it.
A. G.
Revealing the medieval Nottingham..... The robinhood adventures is interesting. Couldn't go for castle cave tour...
P. H.
Has changed a lot in the past few years and is now home to several large screens which tells the history. I'd rather leave technology behind and immerse myself in the history. Rather expensive too. The best bit was the added on, for an extra cost, Cave tour! Robyn was a fantastic guide and extremely knowledgeable.
R. W.
If you want to learn about the history of Nottingham and some solid English history....go there!
The guides are very knowledgeable and funny.
Food in the "cafe" really good.
How many people know that England was a republic for 11 years??????
C. T.
Brilliant afternoon spent looking at the Paul Smith Exhibition . Well worth a visit
E. T.
Always nice to visit new places, we had a lovely time wondering around inside the building as well as outside on the caste grounds.
D. C.
Nice Castle and Gardens. Aimed more towards kids with plenty of activities but still interesting enough for adults.
J. F.
After watching and waiting patiently as the Castle was refurbished and repaired, we finally found time to treat ourselves to a family visit in the school holidays. It did not disappoint and we had an excellent visit. All 3 generations learnt a lot and one could have stayed all day just in the Adventure Playground! Our top tip for future visits is to book early for the Robin Hood adventure as it's rightly very popular and sells out. The food and drink options were all very tasty and staff/volunteers helpful and well informed. Highlights were the Rebellion and Creative galleries, as well as "Inside Paul Smith's head"- which enthralled our 8
old. We look forward to returning in a future holiday.
J. S.
Family visit, thoroughly enjoyed the new additions including play area, virtual archery and staff fighting with Little John, and the caves were fun with Kat as our guide (mortimer's hole not yet open). Great cafe and the rebellion gallery was entertaining and informative.
S. T.
beautiful day , to visit!
lots of tents on the grassed outdoor area but there was no activity going on ???
I have to say i was disappointed with the visit inside the castle! having visited the old castle before the major refurbishment, there was lots to see 😊 looks like they have removed some lovely interesting artefacts , things seemed bitty. the flow around the museum was very badly organised family of four cost me £52.00. I felt it really was not worth that much money !!
E. O.
The experience was good, however, the structure has been modernised taking away the old structure.
s.
Interesting for pics and background/history knowledge... Great views... The exhibit about "Don't blame the blacks" was VERY interesting and would of never known that if I've not visited Nottingham Castle (even had to Google more about this).
Art work was great... make sure you have prebook " Robin Hood stories" so you get to enjoy the full experience of the day.
Bad points... Gift shop (as always) is EXPENSIVE 👀
M. A.
Really clever Robin Hood experience don't miss that bit
T. W.
Nottingham castle is not a castle and there are only a few information boards dotted about that shows it was. It is a museum, and to be honest, not a very inspiring one.
A gallery about Paul Smith ( clothes designer), a gallery about the local regiment, another with some 2nd division paintings, another about lace, and the best one is the history around the Luddite rebellion.
Robin hood experience was extra, kitchen caves was extra.
Was it value for money? No.
J. C.
Not all it's cracked up to be. We enjoyed it well enough but wouldn't make it a stopping point if we could plan again.
L. S.
An absolutely brilliant redevelopment, lots of opportunities for interactive and digital throughout and so well done in terms of interpretation, a perfect balance of history and storytelling. The site was alive with historical interpretation and all staff were so welcoming. Particularly Gareth in the early craft gallery who was a delight to talk to. The shop staff were also lovely. We stayed for over four hours and will definitely be back.
L. R.
A beautiful place to visit.
S.
As someone in a wheelchair it is mostly just an art gallery as the caves for example are inaccessible. It was nice to look at the views of Nottingham however from the top if you're able to get up there. Very steep.
J. B.
First visit was lovely glad it was a free one would have been disapionted if i had to pay lets hope it improves when it reopens
N. B.
Lovely new castle with so many activities!
M. J.
Not sure what three years and £30m was spent on. It's seem to be the same place as before. OK there is a new visitor centre, the cafe has been upgraded and the new exhibits are interesting with Paul Smith giving us an insight into his life. The art gallery has been transformed into a contemporary feature but why do this when you already got a contemporary museum? The grounds are full of interesting artisans with their weaponry and its nice to have deckchairs available to relax in but it would have been nice to see a bar there. You have to pay to visit the Robin Hood experience and the cave tour. The cave tour was a massive disappointment for £25 to visit two basically rooms and listen to an over enthusiastic guide giving the history lesson you would have read in the castle itself.
I'd paid £46 to visit this and its unlikely we would visit this again or encourage our family to visit.
P. W.
Great, really enjoyed the visit and the caves walk. Just wish there was a little more of the medieval castle to see. Exhibitions also very good. We'll worth the money.
E. S.
Great exhibits. Loved the Paul Smith exhibition. Fabulous. There was a Nottm lace room with fashion through the ages. And a room with architecture through the ages. Felt my place in Nottm. Military bit had personal stories - fab. Ran out of time for rebellion bit. Will go back. Staff lovely
A. L.
Entrance to museum & grounds; £8 adult, £5 concesions & children over 5, under 5's free. Museum was good with loads of different exhibits. Grounds were OK with a great view but some parts in need of an update i.e. benches and seating areas, play area etc. There is a tea room in the museum building which we weren't aware of untill walking around (we wouldn't have walked into town for a quick lunch had we known). Would be a really nice attraction with a little TLC and lower entrance fee.
G. M.
Loved it
A. H.
Can't thank Ritesh and his team at Nottingham Castle enough for making our visit so amazing. After wandering round the castle and going on the cave tour (both of which were very interesting) we sat down for an afternoon tea which was delicious and plentiful! All the staff there were super friendly and made the trip so enjoyable. Thank you!!
S. L.
I thought there would be more Nottingham/robin hood themes but when we went, it was one space and then the art gallery. A little disappointed if you're looking for that kinda thing, but if you enjoy lace, art and nice views it's a great place to visit!
I. M.
Thought would give this a visit following the refurbishment. Visitor centre is really just a shop and cafe. Found the website a little awkward for bookings especially when trying to add the caves and finding they had no slots.
The grounds are nice with a very over priced ice cream van for what you actually get.
The castle itself has been well refurbished. There are lots of different items inside. Paul Smith in the temporary exhibit, bits on the Sherwood forester army unit, art gallery, pottery from Nottingham and in the basement a section on Nottingham's past.
We spent around 2.5hrs walking round.
D. T.
One of the best attractions in the City of Nottingham. Pay it a visit, and you’ll never regret it.
j. m.
Great day at Knottingham Castle. The updated to the displays help bring English history and the legend of Robinhood come alive. The kids will love Robinhood's adventure with interactive displays.
C. s.
Definitely a place to see when visiting Nottingham. I have memories of seeing the castle when I was small so really happy to see the improvements made to this beautiful space. The Paul Smith exhibition was brilliant. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
M. T.
Castle is more gallery than museum but they have nice cave tour. It's bit confusing with buying tickets. But nice place to see.
H. H.
It was an ok day out. Bit complicated to book the experiences for the times we wanted. I feel the general admission charge was a bit expensive and we spent quite alot if time hanging around between the experience bookings. Staff in the robin hood exhibition spoke too quickly to be understood and stated talking before everyone had gained entry. You only get about 25mins and are rushed through, I only just managed to watch the film and do the quarterstaff interactive game but not enough time for everyone in out party to have a turn which was disappointing. The kids loved the Robin's Hideout play area.
V. J.
Really carefully selected art collection, not necessarily big, BIG names but some great paintings, well displayed. (Some good ceramics also.) Interesting display on Raleigh bikes' black heritage. Fantastic views over Nottingham; clean, attractive refurb; good cave tour with well informed staff. Just don't expect a medieval castle.
N. H.
Good history, invested staff and some interesting exhibitions. Cafe food was nice, even offers hot food and were reasonably fast to deliver it. View are spectacular.
J. “. S.
Friendly welcome by staff, interesting visit. Cafe was very good value, huge cup of tea (in a pot) and we'll filled sandwiches. Everyone was friendly and helpful and made the visit all the better.
P. W.
A fairly enjoyable visit. But over priced, particularly for families. I know you have reduced the admission charge.,but still out of reach for many families.
R. K.
Not a castle in any sense but still enjoyable, the price is far too high for entry though.
D. S.
Fantastic guide for the caves. So glad we got to see it before it closes for renovations.
G.
It was a shame you had to pay more for the Cave experience and the Robin Hood Adventures. The ticket gets you into the art gallery and a fashion exhibit. Likely my own fault from lack of research, but I was surprised that to learn anything about Robin Hood required an additional ticket
G. R.
Visited the castle 20th August 2021.
£13 for an adult and cheaper for kidssand seniors, you can also book a family ticket to enter. I booked online , easy to do
I Visited the gallery and I was a little disappointed as there wasn't as much artifact as before.Theres artwork, pottery , plates and lace dresses on display and and a small section on The Mercian Army with medals and uniforms on display.Theres a kids section with drawing fs etc and games for interaction.
The Paul Smith exhibition was good.
And was the most interesting thing to see inside the Castle in my view.
The cafe was nice but pricey,
With nice views overlooking Nottingham.
There is a wooden built area outside the castle and around the moat for children to play on.
There's tents and teepees dotted around the grass area with people dressed up , to show how life was in the forest back then .
There is a new visitor centre just as you enter the castle with gifts and a coffee shop .
I personally wouldn't visit again, but l am glad to have experienced it the one time
M. H.
Definitely recommend touring the caves. The views and stories are amazing. The evening tour with Friar Tuck had us all totally engaged. The sunset views were breathtaking
I. H.
Not really a castle ,check on line if you think you are going to look at ruins
A. C.
Good day out , the art on show is interesting, particularly the painting of view of Nottingham.
M. M.
Very nice place to go and hear a Nottingham's history. Quite a lot to see even thou castle is quite small. Good to take a guide. Good to go during the week (but a lot of people).
J. W.
The castle has had a recent refurb I really enjoyed the rebellion gallery and learning about the luddites and Nottinghams history. The cafe terrace has a lovely view. Every where in the castle is wheelchair accessible as there is a lift in the Robin hood centre but it is difficult getting to the entrance as it's on a steep hill
Z. S.
My grandchildren enjoyed the 30 minutes Robin Hood Experience. The staff were very helpful. The playground called Hideout is designed brilliantly on the slope. There are plenty of challenges for all ages.
It was a shame that the Caffe ran out of sandwiches for the children and there was little else for them to choose. We should have gone upstairs to the restaurant but we didn't have time waiting for our time slot at the Robin Hood Experience
I.
Bit too expensive...expected a bit more for that money...it is a castle, but inside like a gallery.
P. K.
It was amazing trip to castle with my family.
R. W.
Big improvement on it's previous incarnation. Enjoyed the Paul Smith Exhibition. Permanent Collections displayed much more coherently and interactive rebellion gallery tells the history of Nottingham perfectly. Great views of the city from the terrace café 🎯
D. A.
For its age, it's stood the test of time, but book one of the rememberance tours, the young lady showing us around was very engaging.
J. C.
Lovely place to visit, Paul Smith exhibition is great, I loved The Rebellion Gallery. The place looks great. However, I do think they are over charging, it will put people off or be unaffordable for some.
O. A.
It is an amazing place to visit✨
M. C.
One of the best days out we've had! A stunning museum!
D. D.
Cave tour with Robyn was fantastic! Thanks, Robyn!
Yes, it is Her real name :-)
C. B.
Lovely day out. Not much for little ones but great playground
E. K.
I was disappointed about "Robin Hood's adventures". I thought it will be more interesting than to see animation. Cruise for caves is poor. Better to go to caves in shopping centre. 84£ for 4 persons? It's not worth.
A. P.
Very helpful staff .
Good park for kids
Great day out
Great value for money
P. S.
Great day out with all members of the family
R. R.
Fabulous day out especially with the weather like it has been for the past few days
A. B.
Gardens are very nice, as the view of the surrounding areas. The price is quite high, but it is a "must see" in Nottingham.
V. S.
Very nice
L. H.
Great play area and beautiful grounds. We loved exploring the palace and the children enjoyed the craft activities on offer. The Paul Smith exhibit was a highlight for the grown ups. Really friendly and helpful staff and volunteers.
M. A.
Unhappy with the Parking system. Expensive tickets for entry into the castle.
A. J.
Lovely day out in Castle. Paying for the caves in addition its not worth..
D. L.
Good place 🙂👍
M. H.
Really good location for a day out. Reasonably priced and decent cafes on site.
P. J.
Nice place for families. Lovely views over nottingham.
w. g.
I was expected to hear more about Robin Hood, the legend of Nottingham. If you love art is a good place.
M. O.
Awesome Historical records with a very beautiful hilltop scenery.
J. C.
The cave tour is pretty short and they were rushed by the schedule. The castle exhibits were intersting. Gave a good indication of Nottinghams history.
B. C.
It a fair enough place to visit but it is not really a castle as I would call it. Okay for a day out.
C. B.
Need to book early, tour fills up quickly, lots of stairs
L. H.
Second visit as we were rescheduled after the closure however I did enjoy the Paul Smiths exhibition but where was the war medals and the Nottingham dialogues that we speak, felt a lot of the rooms were of mixed artifacts. No relevance to a Nottingham person.
S. T.
A tadge underwhelmed. But we are an older generation. It's fabulous to take a young family. I highly recommend the restaurant in the main castle building. The food is really good
R. P.
Superb exhibitions especially Rebellion and Paul Smith. The Volunteers working here are excellent
J. P. (.
Beautiful place with a great view of Nottingham from the castle and grounds.
L. P.
Really enjoyed the day alot to do and see.
I would say go see and enjoy.
The adventure was a bit of a let down it could do with more attractions and the cafe was a bit pricey but go and enjoy and a good bit of notts history. Great day out for the family
D. F.
The grounds are beautiful, but you could have told me I was at a visitor info booth inside the castle part.
