Reviews of The Robin Hood Experience

At first when I saw The Robin Hood Experience from the outside it didn’t look like much, however Little John invited my family and I inside. He even helped my mum with her disability and her wheelie walker. While there were a lot of steps the were plenty of resting points for young children or people with disabilities like my mum. The displays were all high quality and the story telling of the exhibits were good too. I highly recommend visiting this place before entering the castle. The experience was quite quick at 45 mins but it was fairly priced for the content; 10/10.

Great set of displays following the story of Robin hood. Set rooms for different aspects, and lots of info boards around the place. Kids will like it, but it is a bit simplistic for an adult group, and there are ALOT of stairs if you have mobility issues

We were actually on the way to the Ducal House when I looked to my right and happened upon "The Robin Hood Experience".
On entry we were greeted warmly by the outlaw himself and after a nice chat the offspring were given a task each to do and directions to our starting point.
Set in an old three storey house and adorned with everything about the legend from artwork to pop culture references we went to the top room which was made into a medieval hovel where we were told a story.
We visited several rooms that visit and heard from Friar Tuck, the evil Sheriff and then the outlaws themselves in a room made to look like a forest.
I found this place absolutely charming and it was obvious that a lot of care, commitment and enthusiasm has gone into it. Yes, in this day and age of animatronics, VR and massive installations I could see some younger generations not quite understanding the work that went into this quirky diorama.
It's just unfortunate that differently abled people won't be able to experience this alternative attraction but you can't blame that on the creators of what is, in my opinion, a great little bit of escapist joy.

I quite enjoyed the Robin Hood Experience, there really is a lot of stuff jammed in to a small space. I think I may have been a bit of a closet fan of Robin Hood, as it occurred to me that I had seen a lot of the shows / films mentioned on the info boards..!
We took the two kids with us and they were both given some challenges to complete as we went through the rooms, with promise of a prize at the end. This kept them partly busy, albeit we needed to read and tell them what they needed to look for, and when they found it they wanted to move straight on....
The rooms are not big, and as other reviews have said, you wouldn't really want to be doing it in large groups as there just isn't the space. I felt it was perhaps priced a little wrong for the small people as it was only free if under 3, perhaps think this should be under 5.
I think we was in there for just over an hour, and it was something a bit different. Wife wanted me to make sure that I wrote that it does have facilities (toilets) but perhaps don't expect too much in terms of the quality of the toilets!

Lady who served us our tickets was extremely nice and had great customer service, the experience is very educational and I like the added three different types of quizzes u can do as u walk around

Interesting experience. A bit tatty in places but went with a group of 9 and paid £5 to get in, so it was fun. Worth a fiver!

This little shop is the creation of my stepfather, who has put his heart and soul into making something that can not just bring a smile to others faces, but also bring enjoyment and excitement when coming through.
I've been working here for a little bit now, and it's been more than incredible!

I didn't know that it is not only a shop. Nice experience but it is needed to enhance it more. You can even dress as a real knight.

Lots and lots (more than I have ever known) of information about Robin Hood and his companions! Little John who runs it does it very well! Fantastic place in terms of decorations!

One of the best place to visit in Nottingham. Thoroughly enjoyed the complete experience. My kids loved the place and all the trivia about Robin hood and Nottingham. Highly recommended for all tourists visiting Nottingham
R. N.
I loved this place as it is the passion of a true fan and historian. If you have kids it is a great place to go. There is even a dress up room with colouring. If you love the Robin Hood screen and television renditions it is great. They even have the original Hern the Hunted outfit from the original 1980s Robin Hood BBC series. Talk to the owner Robin.... he is an amazing person and very friendly.

Very cool interactive experience telling the story of Robin Hood, you can really see and the passion and the work that has gone into collecting items and building together the narrative of the Robin Hood tales. Friendly staff and nice collectibles , would recommend for anyone who is a fan of Robin Hood or someone who would like to learn more! #DontMessWithBigJohn

Great little set up showing parts of Robin Hoods life with props costumes and story. Man at the front of house was friendly and engaging and the reason we decided to give it a try. Set on 3 floors so no disabled access which is a shame
L. P.
Such a lovely man. My sister got a red hat and was playing with the swords the gentleman then offered a tiny sword as a gift!🥺🥺 such good prices too!
L. H.
It was OK and passed 30 mins. Lovely staff but essentially it's just a few rooms and didn't justify the entrance fee.

Traveled all the way from Austin Texas to Nottingham. I took my 8 year old son here to see what it was like. The guy running the place was very friendly and knowledgeable. He never broke character and it was a fun and interesting experience. I loved the gift shop, and i would recommend this place to anyone with small children. The castle was overrated, so this is a nice place to come to if you have a bit of time. Entry fees were reasonable too and some family even came in with a groupon.
G. K.
A very unique sort of museum experience. The activities given out to children make it a fun experience for kids. Interesting looking at the various Robin Hood memorabilia at the end of the experience. Cool little gift shop with fun items for kids to buy (bow and arrows etc.) Would definitely recommend.
A. B.
Decent attraction, really enjoyed it. Lovely chap who runs it. Unique for sure. Only thing I'd say is the voice systems need updating as it's a bit hard to hear certain characters in the rooms.
N. W.
Great fun for the family at a very reasonable price - fantastic interpretation of the Robin Hood legend. You start on the top floor of which I believe would have been a town house on Friar Lane; from there explore and navigate through the rooms exhibiting many themes of the Robin Hood story. Their is a fun quiz also and a prize at the end if completed. Well worth a visit 👍
T. L.
Nice experience, worth to visit with a group of 4 to get cheaper tickets
K. S.
Had an excellent time here. Definitely would come again & have to says it's better than visiting the castle for half the price. Met robin hood & even little John popped into visit. Don't buy from the castle & get ripped off buy from here. Thanks for a great time guys
C. A. N.
Very interesting place that gives you alot of historical facts
You should enjoy reading because everything is written on boards
Kids have a room for them to playbit and disguise in robin hood (costume for adults too available) if they get tired of reading
I liked it
R. E.
Very nice place with loads of information fun for children and adults highly recommend a visit
F. M.
Awesome place to visit. I enjoyed every minute.

I really enjoyed experiencing this attraction through @milly.rob ‘s highly informative Instagram stories. It felt like I was there in Nottingham myself. She tackled the hard hitting questions, like why was there a mannequin wearing a frozen costume? Whilst also really ensuring we got the full authenticity of the man in the gift shop letting her borrow his sword.
A. S. t.
Great place must visit staff are lovely to. Very much hurnted to 😊
J. R.
When here yesterday with my partner and would 100% recommend this place, the guy in the store stayed in character and was charming.
The whole set up was great and well thought out, you can see a lot of work has went into it.
D. B.
The castle could learn alot from these guys! What these guys have created in a small shop spread over many floors puts the castle to shame.
Don't waste your cash going to the castle, visit here instead.
b.
I ordered a stutue and two plaques, all arrived quickly, safely and very well packed. Great items at a fare price, service was first class right through, they now have pride of place in my "bow room". Thank you, will be using you again, remember folks shop small and local, service is so much better, prices are the same and your supporting people's jobs and futures!!!.
J. G.
Amazing visit for any age.
What a lovely atmosphere
M. S.
Absolutely great place with interesting stuff not only for children. Nice, helpful people found there. Definitely good to go.
A. B.
What a great place
There's lots of work been done here and it shows
Very informative, great exhibits and a great price too
Can't wait to come back with the kiddies
Take your time to read all the information scattered throughout the museum, you never know what you'll learn
Well done to this place for being a great place of education & fun
The 2 guys who run this were so pleasant and professional too
10/10 from me

My husband, 8 year old son and I came yesterday. We enjoyed this so much. Endearing, low tech but obviously a work of love. I was surprised how detailed the rooms were. Absolutely worth the trip.
G. S.
What a great tour we had travelling back into the medieval time! I was there with my brother after popping in a few times to buy some merchandise and I found the museum really well designed, with lots of interesting informations and lots of fun. Oh, and let me mention the really exquisite fellow who greets the travelers: what a great job he makes and what a lovely person. Just like Robin Hood!
F. K.
Great fun. Our 7yr old really enjoyed it - “it’s awesome!” was his verdict. Lovely to get a chance at genuine small scale experiences rather than just another big corporate one. Well worth a visit
M. B.
Absolutely brilliant! Wife and I really enjoyed it. There's lots of information to read and you will find yourself saying "I didn't know that" quite often. We spent about 40 minutes exploring.
Also, the gentle giant of a chap was lovely and cheery - thank you!
C. C.
Nice friendly and helpful staff! My daughter enjoyed the quizz and sword fighting with another visitor at the end of the tour! It was an entertaining experience. We forgot to take some pics with Robin Hood and Maid Marian!
H. P.
Visited the shop last week having gone to the Castle which was abit of a disappoint. Both the guy and lady dressed as Robin and Marion were very welcoming and friendly and knew lots about the legend of Robin Hood which their shared freely throughout in conversation. The interactive experience was very well done. Also happy to take photos. Worth a visit if you like Robin Hood. Great selection of sourveniers too.
S. D.
This is most definately something aimed at the kids. Our 9 and 6 year old enjoyed it. For adults it's probably not worthwhile. But the staff are great and made a lot of effort and really engaged with our kids.
G. E.
we haven´t been in because we had not enough time, but Robin Hood and Lady Marian have been soooo friendly! We were able to take some lovely photos with our kids - great memory =) thank you very much!!! hope we´ll find our way back soon so we can do the full experience!!!
J. M.
We did not go in. But robin hood outside is a great dude. Fotos with him are free of charge! How great is that. I can't say anything about the puppets though. A nice place to buy souvenirs, which is what we did, basically because the actor who portraits robin seemed so likeable!
L. L.
Its alright i guess. But i would not recommend with a child who doesn't want to stop and read. There's so much to.learn on the walls.
A. J.
Really great lil place - kids loved it! Very knowledgable guide who really gets into the act - we will be back! Thankyou
S. T.
An enjoyable and imaginative experience, which led to much jollity when we attempted archery! The proprietor was friendly, charming, informative and helpful. A great choice of activity.
m.
Awesome little tour:) I can wholeheartedly recommend the place for any Robin Hood fan! I enjoyed myself greatly. I was hoping a bit to try the bow and arrow, but I guess that's for kids😋😉
C. T.
Excellent. Has a small store, and have tours around the building talking about the legend of Robin Hood. Not really suitable for very young children and wheelchair users, but they can still get something from the experience. Robin Hood, Maid Marion and Will Scarlet often are venturing around, and you might be lucky to see them
T. P.
I loved it. The wife was less keen. It's definitely aimed at kids. But if you're a big kid that loves myth and legend, then this could be a good luck for you too! 😁
B. N. (. 6.
Nice atmosphere created by the staff. It is best suited to younger children as there's more for them to do. I went round with a friend and we found it a little quick.
S. M.
Our group had a lovely time here. Attraction was interesting & fun. The staff were friendly, informative & we were made to feel very welcome.
C. W.
If you can think of a better use of a very tall, narrow house and 400 mannequins, I'd like to hear it
Z. T.
Lovely shop and cinder service
G. P.
Extremely pleasant atmosphere with Robin Hood & Maid Marian :) We've visited quite a few times during the past several years and always try to call by whenever we're in Nottingham.
D. S.
It's a small shop. Fun for a group of 5 or less or else the place will be packed. I went there with my niece and nephews. We had fun.
L. R.
it was a great experience all about Robin Hood. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you go to Nottingham, dont miss that spot and caves.

Lots to see over 4 floors. Informative and area for dressing up and drawing. Very well presented and interested staff.

Great location, the team are amazingly friendly and helpful, the building is brilliantly decorated, each room with its own theme.
M. G.
Great thing to do with little ones. Robin Hood was fantastic with our 4 year old! Thank you again!
G.

Also for the pics of you both with my 2 daughters, you made their day complete :)
C. R.
Not the one we were expecting but ok, lots of stairs but not a bad experience with sounds and smells.
M. G.
Ok, nothing special. We got the family rate, without that it would have been on the expensive side.
S. S.
Took the children very interesting for them and I learnt some facts about Robin Hood that I didn't know
E. W. G.
