Reviews of Royal William Yard
M. M. (.
What a fantastic place to visit. Wonderful historic buildings to look at a d plenty of place to sit and eat/drink. Carpark was £1 per hour which we thought was fair. Looked at the sea through a Wonderful archway and sat in the late afternoon sunshine. Very pleased that we were encouraged to visit this place.
A. O.
Was so surprised at how beautiful this place is, the inside of Royal William is amazing, loads of restaurants, bars and open spaces to relaxing and get some food and drinks. Would love to visit again in the summer when I'm sure it has a great chilled vibe. Great views of the sea and a nice place to relax.
D. P.
There needs to be more there plus public bathrooms. March it's desolate. Nice walks great part along the water but a whole of nothing much. Could be a great tourist area with more tourist stores and things to do. It's a great space but boring
R. S.
Royal William Yard is a great place to visit, great views of the marina and plenty of really good food places to visit.
You can travel by car or get a bus with plenty of on-site parking.
Would recommend, especially when they have a market/food festival.
C. R.
Lovely walk around Royal William Yard. Enjoyed the sunset and lots of great restaurants to eat. Wagamamas, hook & Line, Hubbox, and Wildwoods just to name a few.
D. W.
Nice little pub for a drink and or food straight off the ferry or whilst waiting for it. Lively location to sit out side and watch the world go by or on a bad weather day warm and inviting inside. Staff friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.
P. W.
An historic naval yard that once must have been a town within a town. Worth a visit to absorb the architecture and sheer scale of Britain’s seafaring heritage although the visitor experience is not quite all that it should be.
There is ample reasonably priced parking around the “streets” of the site, but if there are any public toilets we never found them. Many of the buildings have been sympathetically converted to residential use, there are a smattering of bars and restaurants but not much of a retail offering. It gave the feeling of an attempt at an edge of town shopping mall without the encumbrance of shops. Even somewhere that advertised a take-away coffee would have helped.
The walk up to the top of the bastions and across to Devil’s Point gives good views over Plymouth Sound and there is a fair chance of seeing a naval vessel undertaking manoeuvres up close.
Worth a visit, but room for improvement as a tourist destination.
O.
Amazing place with Restaurant and incredible views. I absolutely love it, if you are around definitely take a walk the sunset is absolutely gorgeous from here
D. W.
Interesting semi-derelict buildings and graffiti. Nice views of the harbour and grand buildings.
J. T.
Great place to meet up. Stunning heritage
E. T.
Best place to go when you cross the ferry from Mt. Edgcumbe. 😍
S. S.
Lovely, out of the way cluster of restaurants which was lovely on the summer evening I went.
There's different styles of restaurants there so if it's a hearty pasta dish you're looking for, or a handmade, wood fired pizza, or a light salad to enjoy whilst looking out across the bay, I'm sure you'll find a place to suit your needs.
From Wildwood pizza restaurant, to Hook & Line fish restaurant, there's a place there for pretty much everyone. It tends to be rather busy this time of year for obvious reasons so you may want to phone and book in advance to avoid disappointment or more to the point, to avoid that rumbling belly.
K. C.
Really cool place. Me and my girlfriend came here for a meal and it's super pretty. Felt very romantic at night. Also full of history and the buildings are still original. I love how they have converted the inside of them to make them more modern. We went to wildwood for food, highly recommend it! Lived in Plymouth for quite a while and never visited, so if you're in the area I'd definitely go to have a look.
g. a.
lovely to walk around and catch the ferry for £2 to Mt Edgecombe
A. M.
Very clean and ran well with nice restaurants and jetties. But parking is a joke with the whole reg number thing. Us foreigners have no clue how all that works. Nor understand your system. So its a place designed for tourists but not tourist friendly.? Why not a simple barrier system like the rest of europe.... Oh sorry.. I forgot !!
R. W.
Great place for a wander. Loads of restaurants to choose from. Great farmers market once a month
M.
Absolutely stunning place!!! I recommend the stay in Rooms by Bostrot Pierre - it's very good standard for the price! Impressed and will want to come back here in the future.
H. G.
Great historical place that's bang up to date!
Fab restaurants and things to do close by. Highly recommended 😀
A. M.
A strange place that is well worth a visit. It feels like a film set.. Quite surreal. Some decent cafés and shops.
L. D.
Every time I visit RWY I like it more and more, especially on a day when the sun twinkles on the water. I'm hoping as the Melville building is developed the site will feel more finished. Can't wait until lockdown ends and we can really make the most of all the facilities.
M. S.
You need to get here v early if you want one of the few parking spaces not taken up by staff or workmen. Needs at least another 600 spaces for the amount of bars etc on premises. ANpR will get you if you hang around to long looking
A. H.
An excellent place with lovely eateries and bars also it has beautiful views and a great ferry service which takes you over to Cornwall and also has guided boat tours
A. W.
What a stunning location. As a lover of period buildings that have history, this is a great place to visit and explore. The grade 1&2 listed buildings that have been converted into cafes, restaurants and a few shops has been brilliantly done. Great photo opportunities especially with the view of Drake island. Will definitely visit again, but during the summer when it's perhaps a little more lively and less cold.
S. F.
Amazing place to stay, great restaurants and we used the water ferry in the yard to visit Plymouth Barbican.
D. 1.
We love this place, with its wonderful architecture and spacious apartments, many with great views. There's a reasonable choice of bars & restaurants and shops on site. Ferry services allow access to the city centre and other places, meaning that there's little need for using the car once you get there.
M. D.
Great place to visit. Always something to do and see. Art, eateries, relax in a deckchairs and admire the stunning views.
d. l.
Very nice place to visit .lots of nice restaurants and bars and a lot of history .nice views up the tamar .reasonable car parking prices .
D. M.
An interesting & charming part of the City to visit, whether it's for the views, restaurants or even heading onto the water for some sailing/paddleboarding. Would definitely recommend for Anniversaries & date nights to take that special someone.
C. T.
Nice place to visit with a lot of history. It has lots of potential for the future, especially when some of the other businesses reopen. There's a Bus Stop outside too.
The Seco Lounge has great service and App to easily order from A+
L. B.
What a wonderful place. It has been restored carefully and is a real tribute to those historical days it was the Royal Navys stock and supply yard. The restaurants that are now in the buidings offer a great selection. Well worth a visit and stroll around this piece of history.
M. M.
Great place to visit lots of history and good eating places
V. B.
Beautiful historic buildings. Varied restaurants, parking. Bistrot Pierre has lovely accommodation. The first Sunday each month there is a food/craft market. Home made cakes, pasties etc and a good range of food stalls. There is also a ferry which takes you to Mt. Edgecombe
T. Y.
A special place to visit steeped in history. Great food choices and live entertainment/theatre at times is super.
J. S.
Wonderful place to spend a day wandering around and admiring the magnificent old granite buildings, roads and pavements. Great views from virtually everywhere and loads of places to eat. Don't miss it!
I. P.
Fab place to stay, great views and great views. Peaceful and relaxing
S. B.
A sympathetic conversion of this grade 2 listed naval dockyard, with a growing variety of things to do and see. A heritage trail would explain how it was used previously and how it will be developed I the future.
9. M.
I remember visiting when it was part of our forces. but it is a lovely place next to water which is always relaxing and has a selection of places to eat.
J. C.
Lots of bars, places to get food and independent businesses all in one place.. and on a nice day you can go for a dip in beautifully clear water, beautiful place
K. T.
Lovely little place with so many restaurants to visit
J. W.
Lots of great restaurants! Prezzo, Loungers, Wagamamas and more. Try to avoid busy times though as there is limited parking and can be hard when at peak times (e.g. summer and bank holidays). Always a good time out. Nice scenery.
G. W.
Lovely looking place, plenty of food and drink options.
J. S.
Beautiful old ship victualling yard 1700s?
Lots of cafes and restaurants.Good views
Open grassed area for children to run on
Boat ferries to Cremyll and Barbican
Market generally held monthly
Galleries
Buses to town
Access to coastal path by foot
Car parking
t. s.
OK but we were there between 4-5 pm, so a bit quiet, probably livelier lunchtime and evening, nice steps for a great viewpoint across the sound
P. H.
Lovely old Naval stores complex converted into mixed use residential, commercial and hospitality. Parking is pricey and whereas it used to be pay when you left via ANPR, it's now pay and display.
J. S.
I love coming to this place, it has such a vibrant feel to it. There are so many good restaurants here with some great vegan options. All have some great vegan options. The food fair and market which is held monthly is excellent and has some great stalls and a fabulous vegan cake stand, as well as some great gin!! Well worth a visit and the number 34 bus serves this area as well every 30 minutes during the week
T. B.
Wow!! what an amazing place to visit particularly on a beautiful day. Many great eating and drinking venues and stunning vistas.
S. C.
Enjoy going here to chill out and walk around or maybe eat, or just look at the views - very nice and also quite quiet despite the amount of activity - nice place to go.
B.
Exceptional venue with beautiful buildings and a great Sunday market venue. Let down by an odd parking system that causes long wait times. Make sure you visit the devils point via the floating staircase
R. R. A.
Nice place with a lot of history to grab a dinner and watch the sunset.
P. R.
What a fab place. Lots to do, lots to see, and so easy to get around. Definately stay there again 👍
P. H.
Stopped for lunch at Seco Lounge at Royal William Yard and chilled in the sunshine. Mediterranean Chicken sandwich, fries and a pint of Punk IPA. Happy days.
M. D. G.
Love the ambience, being by the water and lovely old open buildings. Highly recommend the Italian food at Prezzo :)
W. O.
Beautiful location with some great spots for food and drink.
B. R.
Charming, interesting, packed with restaurants and bars with great views.
l. q.
Its an amazing place to eat or just sit and watch the boats. I done both with a few friends from Canada.
A. R.
Great historical buildings which belonged to the Royal Navy, but has now become a place to wine and dine and take in the views of the surrounding countryside and other buildings on site ,which also include fashion and craft shops .A mecca in the evening. Disable friendly.
M. M.
Take time to wander and discover the deep history here. Worth the walk around with historic navel connections.
T. B.
To some people this place seems to be the bee's knees and the place to be seen. It does have a good feel about the place but in reality it's old austere navel stores buildings restored into residential apartments, some business premises and very generic Restaurants. Every part of the place is designed to relieve you of your hard earned cash. Parking is expensive and at a premium. It's out on a limb from the city centre so Taxi's are hard to get.
There are some secret areas that contain wildlife areas, ponds and seating with fabulous views but most visitors will never know they are there or find them.
D. c.
Stayed in an apartment at the brew house, absolutely amazing. Fantastic weather setting, beautiful views and a fabulous apartment.
h. c.
Nice place to visit and have a wonder. Lots of restaurants and views are lovely. There's a small ferry down the road takes you to Mount Edgcumbe and you can also take the walk up and around the coastline from the yard. The views up there are amazing.
D. H.
What a fantastic place to visit and I would highly recommend you visit when in Plymouth especially if you are looking for somewhere to eat. The place is steeped in naval history and the buildings have been lovingly restored and turned into exceptional restaurants.
P. T.
Nice place to visit. Not much in terms of shopping but there are some nice restaurants and the buildings are great. Urban Splash have done a really good job with the development. RWY put on some good events and the markets are always worth a visit.
A. C.
A beautiful place with many restaurants and bars with outdoor seating. Best on a sunny day due to the water taxi also available.
S. T.
Lovely view, and good food, a shopping a bit limited
A. O.
Arguably the nicest corner in Plymouth. Historical buildings hosting restaurants and cafes with plenty of sea views and seating areas.
P. S.
Great place for weekend gateway. You can have a good time with friends and family
S. K.
An up and coming area for a nice place to eat and socialise, still improving with building work etc... but otherwise nice scenery on a sunny day. Recommend
A. T.
Always love visiting RWY when I'm in Plymouth. Great breakfast at the Huton 🥰
M. S.
Had a brilliant time at the Royal William yard tour on Saturday. So much history a lot to take in, it was very interesting and the tour guide had a good knowledge of the yard. Well worth a visit with various restaurants and a mobile outlet serving all types of food for all to enjoy.
H. M.
Great destination when the "Good Food Market" is on.

L. E.
Lovely place to look around. Restaurants are overly priced.
n. w.
Great restoration in superb setting with wonderful views and walks.
Very safe & welcoming with a lovely mix of business's - Urban Splash could do with finishing their works as they have been going on for years now, and increasing the number of businesses here as well as more residential units.
l. c.
If you like scenery & you like walking, then this place is definitely for you.
W. H.

Great location & Historic Setting; great places to 'Wine & Dine,' & the Ferry to the Barbican area is an added bonus !

Ate at the Secco Lounge this evening.
Fantastic Tapas, corn fritters are a must, also an excellent menu with a really varied choice of mains and sides, was driving so tried there Mango mocktail and was happy with my choice.

Amazing buildings . Lots of food shops . Access to the sea. Parking good.
l. c.
The outlets there are on more expensive side but the view makes up for everything.
J. D.
saw the free illuminate festival here - it was fab
L. D.
Bizarre to come back after the conversion but they've done a really good job. High end place with spectacular views. Little tricky to get to down the tiny streets but worth it.
M. s.
Brilliant walk, fantastic scenery and a historic buildings and fantastic shop's . A must see place. Brilliant craft and food stalls every 1st Sunday of the month a must visit place!
C. H.
Recommend for a Christmas visit during a Christmas fair
E. R.
Great selection of restaurants in a beautiful historic setting. Some places may need booking in advance, but you'll slways find a table at one of the many options.
S. O.
My kind of place. Lovely marina surrounded by multiple places to enjoy great food and drinks. Lovely to walk around an enclosed area that was once owned by the Royal Navy. Lots of parking too. Quieter and calmer than the Barbican.
C. s.

D. S.
Parked up in Devil's point and walked down the steps to Royal Willian Yard. A really good walk with some hidden gems around the place. Really beautiful scenery with lots of restaurants I have yet to try out. Really enjoyed walking around and looking out at the boats.
G. H.
I can't get enough of the sleek, clean and old/modern combination of this unique little area. It's perfect placement next to the ocean allows you to believe that living or working there would give you a sense of dominance and yet ground you to humble appreciation of all things nature and man made in a fine balance. I would give anything to live here, however the expense is beyond my remit but for good reason. I'd emplor anyone to visit Right Move and look at the flats for sale or to rent and you too will potentially want to live here. For now I will continue to visit the shops of hand made clothing to the highest quality, and the constantly reliable chains of Wagamamas, Seco Lounge etc etc. It does get VERY busy in the summer so I'd highly recommend visiting during spring
T. B.
Good place to go and have a look round
K. J.
A rare gem of early 19th century buildings, largely unused throughout its life and the biggest grade 1 listed site in Europe. Its now a seaside hub of creativity and eateries. And its renovation is not yet complete. Its a must visit for a sunny afternoon or evening.
J. J.
Busy. Only to be expected on a sunny Sunday
Fantastic views and a good place to walk - flat and plenty of room for everyone.
L. G.
Great place for photography. Good restaurants and nice views.
L. S.
We are in a restaurant here but parked in a car park a couple of minutes walk across the yard. So many photo opportunities and such picturesque settings like the beautiful buildings and the area with the deck chairs.
A. H.
Amazing place to visit for a coffee or something more substantial.
We ate lunch outside (superb weather).
Staff great and fix priced menu very good value.
We will be back!
V. C.
worth a visit, even if your just walking thought it's so photogenic, you have a grass landin the middle you could picnic in, there are restaurants and little shops all over the place and sea views. You don't need to pay a penny to get in so I highly recommend atleast taking a look at what they have to offer in a walk through.
S. “. T.
this place is amazing I really enjoyed lots to see
D. W.
Really lovely place to stay, buzzing atmosphere. 2nd time we stayed here and still impressive with outstanding views. Only thing is weather due to covid or because they have some residence living here they intend to shut early for food. And make sure you order the day before at least especially in peak season, other than that it's a well worth a place to come for holiday.
H.
Hidden gem. Came across this whilst walking. Lots to do. Good array of restàurants
K. M.
Great place to go. Princess yachts were in there which was amazing to see. Plus found a really great fabric shop Make at 140.

C. P.
Lots of places to eat and drink, always clean and nice atmosphere during the days and good choice of restaurants depending on your tastes.

We were only parking. Left the car here on the way to Cremyll ferry. The Royal William Yard was the victualling base for the Royal Navy. Beautiful 18th Cent. buildings now converted to flats with upmarket restaurants and shops.
A. D.

A great place for a day or evening out. Try to go when there is an event happening, as they are always great. Definitely visit the studios and galleries a a great source of inspiration.
M. T.
Interesting place with many restaurants and cafes
E. N.
There's something special and majestic about this place. Whenever I'm in Plymouth it's one of the places I have to visit. There are different restaurants/bars, bakeries and other hidden gems to explore and its wonderful to be by the water. In normal times you can get a boat from here to the infamous Barbican. The only downside is parking. There is plenty of it but its not cheap. So you might want to consider alternative means of getting there.
S.
Lovely place to eat, chill out and have a drink
A. S.
Brilliant, modern accommodation. All the restaurants and bars are lovely - doesn't matter which one you choose. They can all get a little busy of a weekend but that's only a result of their success. The regular food market is nice, with some fantastic bits on offer. Beware again though, it gets very busy on these days and I'd get public transport down there to save headaches.
T. H.
Lovely place to stay and eat
A. M.
Great location, with many places to eat and drink
e.
So many choices of restaurants. Parking available a perfect place for dating couples.
J. N.
Very beautiful place, cosy with places to have a drink and food
C. L.
A great place to visit! A wide variety of businesses with plenty of places to eat delicious food and things to do. I always do a walk around the yard following the coast path walk and then stop for a bite to eat before heading home. They also have lots of events on throughout the year and great places to meet up with friends and family for any occasion.
S. M.
A great mix of restaurants, things go see and just walk around. Very easy to get to with lots of public transit options and fabulous views when you get there.
D. S.
It was amazing to see the illumination. Very beautiful.
S. B.

G. J.
Incredible place to walk around! Great views too! Wish we'd known about the ferry back to Plymouth, would have saved the walk!
Lot's of resturants to chose from.
D. S.
Great Clean Beautiful Historical Place. Beautiful restaurants and Independent Shops. Parking and A Sea View to find and explore.

This part of Plymouth is so stunning. Spoilt with sea view. You can see Mount Wise from here. Walk up the metal stairs and pass Devils Point. Access to the restaurants in the area. A good route for running.
I. T.
A lovely historic part of Plymouth, great for a visit night and day.
E. C.
Beautiful architecture, nice places to eat, and great scenery when going on walks.

Love this place. It is a very nice place to visit. They have all sort of events. And the restaurants there are the best.
N. C.
As regards the yard itself, the parking out the back needs so lighting but prices are better than before £1 per hour.
We visited Prezzo which was OK. Service was very good but almost all the non-pizza menu items had sauce with chilli in (fine for me, not for the good lady). All in all a bit overpriced though but I appreciate most businesses of this type are trying to recoup lost revenue.
A. B.
Very pleasant area to visit with it's bars and eateries
s. h.
We love visiting Royal William Yard, great restaurants, well managed and good events.
K. J. ..
Lovely place to visit. Great views and some lovely little cafes and bars. Everyone was friendly.
N. S.
Peaceful and remote. Beautiful with high end interior
M. H.
A picturesque place with a great little coastal walk which looks out onto Drakes Island. Also has some lovely restaurants and bars. If you are in the are it’s definitely worth a visit the architecture alone is amazing!
J. D.
Has a nice atmosphere.
P. M.
Went over to have takeaway lunch from Hook and Line best fish and chips. Portion size good, batter crispy chips hot and fluffy inside and seasoned perfectly.
A. M.
Nice Place, we went in November so not much going on at all but I can imagine in the summer its very busy and popular.
l. h. a. l. t. g.
Very lovely place to visit, have good parking areas and drop offs. You can take photos of all that's happening around. They place is child and disabled friendly. There's also a bus route just a bout a minute or 2 walk to the bus station
R. H.
Impressive buildings with many good food outlets but let down by a lack of retail shops. A selection of quality retail outlets would contribute greatly to the overall experience.
S. M.
Had a meal here in wagamama restaurant absolutely delicious Great value for money! Customer service was excellent! Will definitely return, waiting times for a table can be up to 20 mins but definitely worth the wait.
D. A.
Four of us did not really enjoy this place. Too pricey, awkwardly laid out and outside seating unprotected from the wind. Seagulls attack the tables at every opportunity. Very interesting history and well worth a visit to imagine how it has supplied the Royal Navy over the centuries, but best to look, not touch.
s. m.
Nice buildings and architecture, good places to eat and drink, but lack of parking has put it down a couple of stars down.
D. B.
Probably the nicest area in Plymouth.
If you want to avoid any of the city's riff raff, this is definitely the place to go. Great for photos, food and drink.
p. r.
Great place and very well done lots of restaurants to choose from - parking is a rip off which is why 3stars and not 5 shame as everything else about it is very good and the restaurant chains here are all very good ones
A. K.
Excellent short break. Lovely views, plenty of places to eat and drink. Bus service to plymouth outside gate, also ferry to Edgcombe nearby
L. W.
Great place, great food market once a month, great places to eat, great to chill in the day and great for a walk up to the point in the evening.
Just a really nice place to be
J. S.
Lovely little place. Finished to a high standard. Top quality restaurants
P. L.
Great views. Lots of places to eat and drink. Very well looked after. Good pocket of history.
K. B.
So much on offer here, food, drinks and a market once a month i believe.
And also the option to take the water taxi to the barbican which is a nice option, not the cheapest option but you can take a bus or a cab in any city so this is s nice change of pace.
A. M.
Lovely area for food, a coffee and socialising. Great views and easily accessible for those less mobile to enjoy this historic site. Only complaint is the parking on a busy day as with all placed of interest.
K. L.
Always seems to be some parking there. It also has amazing views across the Sound.
r. e.
Car parking is a nightmare parking supervisors don't know what they are doing drove around 3 times in the end they said park on the double yellow lines oh and does everyone in Plymouth have a dog? Going around the food fair dog were sniffing all the food on sale put me off buying
P. A.
How did they quarry so much granite ? Very quiet and I should expect the area to be buzzing at weekends and in the summer. Still a long way to go to match Liverpool.
A. P.
Lovley place by the water very clean & friendly lots of interesting things to see lovely places to eat or drink
m. c.
Local and lots of choice where to eat.
T. B.
Lovely place to visit. Lots of bars and restaurants. Recommend a visit
A. K.
Such a brilliant place, love it!
D. C.
Brilliant place, our friends are lucky enough to own 1 of the apartments so all the fantastic buildings, scenery and places to eat etc are literally on their doorstep.
A superb place to visit night or day.
S. B.
Stopped at Domea Favour for a drink. Has to be the best hot chocolate I've ever had. We were also given a few bits of chocolate to try. Had a chat with the owner/chocolatier, what a great guy. Can't wait to go back for another drink & buy some chocolates!
P. W.
Magnificent Georgian naval architecture, with wonderful views over the sea and River Tamer. Plenty of places to eat and drink.
N. W.
Lovely boat trip which called into Royal William Yard..
P. C.
Beautiful place, historic setting and great little restaurants something for the majority of people. You can even catch a ferry to the barbican another historic place where the pilgrim father's set sail for America. Definitely worth the visit if you're travelling to Plymouth.
S. T.
A great opportunity to immerse oneself into the Naval history of the victualling yard. Unique, traditional architecture has been combined with a modern, quirky commercialisation and residential area. It would be a crime not to admire the view across the Hamoaze whilst visiting.
A. K.
Lovely old Ex Naval buildings converted into a great selection of places to eat and drink. Lovely outlook to the Tamar estuary.
J. P.
Historic buildings, art galleries and a few designer shops. A nice selection of bars and restaurants and a programme of events for an afternoon or evening out. Take a short walk to see the sea and the navy ships. Also some workshop and meeting spaces, a more interesting place for a corporate gathering than many.
M. B.
One of our favourite eating places, Pierre Bistro, is there so it's a place we visit regularly. There are other eating places there and a nice place to have a stroll around. Regular buses from the city centre.
M. E.
Interesting place with a great view out to sea. Plenty of parking and lots to do
a. b.
Good place to visit especially this time of year, lots of food and craft fares.on site parking is very well organized .
k. H.
The history of Royal William Yard is fascinating. Many of the old buildings have been turned into apartments and others into restaurants and bars, galleries and shops. The local ferry stops here its a lovely place for families to visit.
J. S.
Beautiful old military yard that has been transformed very nicely into a new destination with lots of nice restaurants and little jewellery shops. A great view over the marina just outside and overall a very friendly place.
M. M.
Bistrot Pierre.
Use this place regularly and I always have good food and excellent service from all staff. Also use the bar as my local and again excellent service and always made welcome. A very good meet and greet team for people turning up for meals and to book in the hotel on site. Well worth a visit.
B. G.
Good place just a wander around few drinks and nibble to eat
S. A.
Lovely family destination!
K. H.
I’ve performed here a few times and the place is beautiful. Plenty of nice places to eat and shirt walks with amazing views are not far at all
m.
Great place to visit - especially in the sunshine! Various places to eat with some really interesting architecture. Doesn't get 5 stars as trying to pay for parking is an absolute nightmare (and I'm computer literate).
J. B.
Worth visiting if you are down in Plymouth, great for walking around and also for eating.
Worth booking a table, regardless of which restaurant you go to, they are pretty much guaranteed to be fully booked.
I didn't like the new pay and display parking, it's hard to know exactly how long you are going to be in advance of eating, so having to pay for the parking upfront is not as clever as paying when you leave.
K. L.
So many good quality an varied bars and restaurants in a stunning water front location.Easy access and parking.Took my elderly parents and so easy for them with a wheel chair.
F. M.
Fabulous place!
T. S.
Great place to have a 🍺
J. H.
Great place to visit for restaurants wide choice of food styles and price ranges. historic dock so great architecture
a. b.
Lovely apartment , good places to eat....very quiet half term week.
There doesn't appear to be anything to explain the vast history surrounding the "yard"
Gained information from locals at The Artillery Arms and The Vine.....if you want to know anything go to the pub !
Boat trips to the Barbican and Mt Edgecumbe well worth a visit.
J. M.
Had a lovely meal at Prezzo with my sister's. The staff were very welcoming. One of them is a vegetarian.
N. C.
Have stayed here previously Had walked here from Barbican and had lunch Caught ferry back
M. C.
Fascinating place, especially on a quite autumn morning in October... Avoids the crowds and get quick service
W. M.
A stunning place for somewhere to eat or have a drink. Lovely views and fantastic architecture. I love this place...
M. H.
Best for eateries, catching up with friends for drinks with a splendour view of Victorian architecture. I love every venue within this site
C. W.
Nice place to eat and drink
S. B.
Very good places to eat, shops and so much historical interest, well worth a visit
T. S.
Great place to go for a night out. Great restaurants and bars and plenty of parking
L. C.
Well worth the visit, especially if you watched the TV Drama HORN-BLOWER ,
All the old buildings that made up the back shots of the ships crew boarding the long boats before rowing outing the sound .
L. W.
It's a relaxing place, with lovely cafes and restaurants.
W. L.
Nice area to visit .walk round.choice of food .nice views
S. T.
Always a nice place to visit and bizarre at the same time, you travel through a rather ugly part of the city to these big archways and once inside its like a completely different place so clean and visually attractive.
L. W.
Nice area with a bit of history, it's a shame its full of restaurant chains rather than independents
J. S.
Great place to wander and watch the boats and then go for a drink and bite to eat.
K. L.
The Club House Restaurant is fab!
The Yard is also a pretty and calming place to have a walk and a coffee
C. M.
It's a shame the quirky little coffee shop has closed but there are precious few places that are better on a summers day.
M. G.
A regular venue for me. Wine bar, Asian food, Mexican food, just great food. William yard has many great venues including boutique shops tucked away if you feel the need some retail therapy as well as eat. The location itself is a very old naval base and the architecture is well worth a look too. From here there are ferries to the Barbican and neighboring beach community of Cawsands. Ample parking is available but it's pay and display.
B. C.
We visited the Royal William Yard today and had a late lunch in the Wildwood restaurant. The service was first class and the waitress was very helpful. We had pizzas steak sandwiches and chicken burgers all hot and tasty. Would recomend for families.plenty of outdoor seating and the Yard is lovely to have a wander around after you have eaten. waitress very good and helpfull . very good service, meal was excellent. the restuant was very busy and the staff very quick to take orders and get the food out which was amazing.
J. H.
Visited Pierre bistro and had a lively meal before staying in their hotel, luxury room on our last night in England
S. D.
This is a spectacular part of Plymouth. The monumental buildings on the side of the Tamar were originally part of the Royal Navy's victualling yard and are now in the process of conversion into a mixture of apartments , restaurants, retail and business space. The buildings and river views are well worth the visit on their own. You may be a little disappointed in the retail and eating selection though, as the restaurants are mostly (but not all) chains that you see everywhere else. The River Cottage Canteen used to be the highlight, but they have pulled out. On a sunny day, it's still worth it. Plus which you can get the ferry over to Cremyll and explore the totally wonderful Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park.
P. S.
A good place to visit when you want to find a good interesting place to eat
D. H.
Lovely place to walk around.
S. T.

Z. M.
Wonderful place. All the old building are being used to set up new business.
P. F. c.
Lovely to walk around plenty of fresh air to work up a good appetite on great food.
P. A.
Nice place for walk round lots of returants ,be nice if it had a few more shops
C. P.
Good selection of bars and nice food. Plenty to do here.
L. B.
Looking at the beautiful buildings it is hard to believe that the Royal William Yard was built as an industrial site, preparing victuals for the vessels of the Royal Navy.
It has survived almost unchanged through 186 years, the Blitz and property developers.
It is worth a visit just to enjoy the views and feel the history.
There are many good restaurants in the Yard offering a range of culinary styles.
J. F.
A really pretty place to have a look around. There is a set of steps at the far end of the wall which takes you up towards the battery. From there you can see most of Mount Edgecombe.
There is also a small tidal pool that you can have a paddle in.
Parking isn’t too expensive and the ferry to Mt Edgecombe is close-by.
D. P.
Amazing place for romantic walks and some great restaurants, Parking a little on the dear side but get passed that and you will have a great time
n. b.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 3 nightstands the Royal William Yard, it can only be described as idillic. We all thought it was the most wonderful place and we would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Plymouth. The view from the lounge room was amazing out over Plymouth Sound and it was easy to lose track of time gazing out at it. Thank you to Chloe who greeted us and was more than helpful. We loved it!

P. J.
Great selection of venues amongst attractive Stone buildings with views towards Cornwall
p. n.
Park outside. It's a pity to go out for a nights meal in one of the many good restaurants in here and then have to pay an exorbitant parking fee. That is the biggest down side.
M. C.
Fab place - lots of restaurants, a little pricey on parking but pretty and overall worth the money. Hard to beat on a sunny day!
L. G.
Very nice views. Plenty of upmarket vegan type places to eat. But not much for family value type places.

J. M.
If your looking for a piece of architectural history then look no further. I was godsmacked at the quality of the restoration of the buildings. Unfortunately I didn't have time to fully explore the yard but it is worth a visit just for the view as you come through the arch.

j. w.
Good friendly staff. Good clean beer in a welcoming atmosphere. Will come here again!
B. D. W.
Mostly good experiences - can get very busy ... Which is great if you like busy harbour feeling .. I preferred a more chilled afternoon out
T. S.
Beautiful place with a very nice mixture of modern and old school decor. Amazing views.
P. H.
Royal Navy victualling and stores from the early Victorian period are a historic tourist attraction. These very solid John Rennie buildings were relinquished by the navy only in 1992. Now restored and returned to Plymouth's Stonehouse community.
Sheltered on the shore behind Devils Point battery. Views into the Hamoaze towards the Navy docks overlooking the Princess Yachts. A vista of the marina in Mutton Cove and Mount Edgecombe and Cremyll across the Hamoaze. Ferry near by.
These majestic granite block warehouses look so solid like they will last into the next millennium. Re-purposed this century into apartments and evening economy restaurants, bars and art galleries. The evening economy, fashion and hi-tech businesses thrive. Monthly and seasonal specialty food markets.
L. S.
Eaten here at several places. Parking can be a challenge but a nice place for an evening meal or lunch date.
K. L.
Good place for an al fresco coffee whilst watching the boats go by.
M. B.
Lovely atmosphere, great places to eat and beautiful historical buildings, ferrys take you to Mount Edgcoumbe and the barbican
