Reviews of Brangwyn Hall
J. H.
Had a dance competition we were attending.. staff excellent and plenty of them to help. Bar open for food and drinks. Surroundings very very nice, accoustics excellent, dance floor and spectator area large. I'd like to know more about the history of the place!
S. C.
The best acoustic in the world - according to a senior sound technician at Deutsche Gramophon.
Photo taken awaiting the arrival of Sir Bryn Terfel earlier in 2022.
G. K.
Interesting venue with remarkable decoration indoors. Ideal for wedding receptions, dancing and hosting big events. There is parking across the street which is for free after 6pm. Definitely a recommended choice for special events and occasions involving many attendants.
A.
Parking for Swansea Airday. Good event; appalling lack of signage for all carparks. Took us an hour to find this pre-booked ( no post code provided) parking. No carparks named or colour coded as per booking scheme.
G. W.
Interesting and historic building (1930's)! Even mother Theresa came, and visited this fantastic house. Within the hall, you'll see ... an huge wall painting. Amazing is just not enough, to describe that. Architectural, an building of beauty and elegance. Regularly events take place. A must visit location, when in South Wales or Swansea.
B. P.
Great venue, let down just a tad by a cold draft. Fine for myself but the elderly were cold even in their coats (I had my two grandmother's with me and they were very cold)
J. t.
Great venue within a beautiful setting.
D. J.
Imposing building on Swansea seafront with unique works from Frank Brangwyn on display for all to see. Concerts and events are regularly held here.
M. W.
Beautiful room, marred by a lack of raked seating that gives poor visibility, especially when sat behind a tall individual. Not only are the seats not raked, but they're also too uncomfortable for a two hour plus show. There's plenty of parking though, so that's a plus point. Service at the bar is inadequate for the size of audience accommodated and there are no other refreshments available, which is a missed profit opportunity.
D. K.
A wonderful venue, extremely helpful staff and beautiful playing by the orchestra. Superb.
S. T.
Absolutely stunning, a jewel in West Glamorgan and Swansea's crown.
Wonderful staff, beautiful location by the sea and a must see if in the area.
C. S. (.
What's not to like, nice hall and lots of wine. Next time I hope naked wines put on decent hot food.
J. F.
Went there for the vegan festival was brilliant most probably will be another one sometime this year everybody is welcome.
J. W.
Lovely building, amazing ceiling. Went there to see Paul Young. Was a nice evening with my partner. We didnt enjoy the gig as we struggled to hear Paul Youngs voice.
E.
Great kilo sale experience.
Will definitely go again
A. M.
Been there for the annual Beer and Cider Festival, there was live music. It was lots of fun!
P. A.
Great venue for concerts etc, stage at one end and large flat floor space for audience. Very high ceiling and old architecture, plenty of free parking at rear of hall if you get there early enough
S. S.
Went to Indian Mela. Great afternoon out. Wonderful building
L. H.
Lovely building to go to any event. Friendly staff.
P. T.
Awesome place to watch a band , it's a small venue that packs a serious punch
A. L.
Visted brangwyn hall in Christmas 2017 (Christmas in paris) and what a fantastic place it was. Loads to do with a great selection of meal choices. Everyone of us enjoyed the evening and was impressed with the service we received.
N. P.
The building is grand and municipal with interesting architecture and wall hangings. But having just been to see The Staves the accostics or tiny speakers could not produce a clear sound. A bit disappointing. 5 Stars for the very friendly staff and venue.
M. R.
First time here for an awards ceremony, can see why this building was chosen for such events.
S. G.
Beautiful building hosting a variety of events. We usually come for the annual beer and cider festival which is amazing.
J. J.
Absolutely a beautiful building inside absolutely awesome, we saw G4- there They were brilliant too my grandson with his PQA drama acadamy were singing with G4- but this venue iss worth a trip to.
D. M.
Fabulous evening, great entertainment and delicious food. Would definitely do an Xmas party here again 👍
J. N.
Great civic and awards venue.
D. K. (. P.

J. T.

D. A.

k. w.
I popped in on 3rd july 21, if you do visit, look up, its has beautifully crafted ceilings, im sure i saw a viking on the wall
Helpful staff and nice n clean
I. J.
Love the afternoon tea's here with the mini's, they love meeting the princess's anf eating the yummy cakes.
J. T.
The G4 Christmas show was lovely you could see the stage and sound was great glad we went
I. H.
I've been visiting this place for many years since childhood. Great acoustics for bands on the large stage. The walls are decorated with murals that were to be housed in parliament. They have a bar that stocks most drinks and serve bar meals also. Once upon a time off to the right of the bar is a small room that they used to serve hot meals also. Maybe in the future they may resume this.
Y. D.
A lovely old building, the best part being the colourful murals which just must be seen. I visit this building once a week for choir. It's easy to get to and serviced by lots of buses including the all night student bus. Well worth a visit.
A. N.
Lovely hall to look at, though the acoustics were pretty bad - don't know if it was a problem with the sound engineers for the show we watched or whether it's a wider issue. Just made it more difficult to hear anything 'pre-recorded'. Fortunately we were right at the front so could hear the voices of the actors easily enough.
R. G.
Beautiful interior, very old building, acoustics can vary, depending on who is performing, seating uncomfortable, recently refurbished but seating not changed. The bar facilities are frustrating on times to get served, so get there early. Can be used for multiple purposes.
P. W.
The Brangwyn hall itself is fine but the event we went to could have been better. The French theme didn't work for me. Food was acceptable but could have been better and there were significant mix ups at the table on alcohol ordered.
Food service didn't seem to work well per table but was acceptable. The photo booth was great fun though.
A. S.
Beautiful venue with walls lined with exotic artwork and amazing acoustics. Also has a sprung floor for dance functions and a large stage which is frequently used for public performances by orchestras and choirs. Owned by Swansea City Council
I. D.
Swansea's premier classical concert hall with the amazing Brangwyn panels.
T. M.
Superb decor recently refurbished to its 1930's glamour. Popular with concert-goers. Festival events every year. Used as location for a couple of dozen movies. Graduations, weddings, galas... have all taken advantage of its majestic interior.

Hall in Swansea Guildhall containing the Frank Brangwyn panels.

We went to see the BBC Wales National Orchestra at Brangwyn Hall, it was affordable and a very open and child friendly concert. My kids enjoyed it, so much so that we'll be going to the Christmas concert as well! :)
P. T.
Fabulous little gem of a public space tucked away just back from the main Gower-Mumbles road, right opposite Victoria park.
The great hall is spacious and the side rooms of it serve it well.
Great place for a small fair. Small grassy patch outside but when you're this close to a park, it's not an issue when trying to entertain small kids.
Parking in street is free on the weekends. Well done Swansea.
S. B.
Amazing venue, staff and food.
Upon arriving via our taxi, our journey had just begun. A brief walk up to the steps and greeted by a team of nice and welcoming staff who directed us to the welcome drinks. From there, the JR Events team taken care of us every step of the way. Once presented with our table number, we were directed to our seats. Once we entered the door to the main hall the wow factor hit. Lighting from the ceiling to the stage and the beautiful array of lights which created a nice, calm and relaxed mood and all the way to the design of the stage with The Greatest Showman theam circus decor was brilliantly done. The food was faultless with nice tender beef, mouth melting sweetcorn, a rich flavour graveyard and the potatoe was just wow.
The event ran smoothly with no hiccups, venue staff nice and polite, friendly and helpful. Best night of my life. Thank you all, 5 star all the way :)
Fantastic night, absolutely amazing and very well organised. Thank you all for organising and arranging it all. Over all perfection. Well done to everyone who was there and who won. Was also nice to do a little networking too :)

What a amazing Hall to host musical events(Kathryn Jenkins and G4 to name just two....) Remembrance Service, functions, University Ceremonies and probably lots more. The only slight issue would be parking as the outside car park isn’t big enough. There is street parking but be careful as there is also residents only and you may have to walk 5-10 mins from where you park-not ideal in Autumn/Winter. There is a drop off point outside which does help. To end on a positive, if you haven’t been, try and get to an event, it will be worth it!
J. B.
After three years I’ll finally leave my review of the place that has contributed so much anxiety to my life.
This is a student favourite for exams, hearing the invigilators spell out B R A N G W Y N is the reason I continue to live on this planet.
Beautiful.
I cried after my last exam in this iconic building.
T.
It was an elegant space..loved it.
R. G.
The Brangwyn Hall, inside the main Swansea Guild Hall. This is the Jewel in the Crown of historical buildings, the stunning hall holds gorgeous huge paintings hanging on the walls. Fantastic organ, they hire it out for all sorts of occasions and hold concerts from all over the world and local events, they also have bar facilities, catering facilities. And is accessible to everyone. The Guild Hall itself holds the Mayor room and many other lovely rooms, again available for hire. It also has a large clock tower and very historical building.
W. S.
I got carried away looking at the architecture whilst attending a graduation (hence pictures lol). It seems to be a good facility with a bar/lounge and many side rooms in addition to the large hall.
D. M.
Stopped by here on a whim while walking around town. The plain outside is deceiving - the inside is beautifully appointed. Check the schedule before you go and if the great hall is not in use, you can walk in. It's amazing
M. J.
Not bad as a venue, but because of the flat floor, the view from the back in hindered by people with big heads!
M. W.
Grand City's Landmark, gorgeous piece of mixed art deco and stripped classical architecture style which besides Philharmonic Brangwyn Hall housed a complex of Guildhall offices. Worth to visit for a concert or any kind of market venues especially to see beautiful and unique in country-wide scales Brangwyn's impressive paint Panels.
D. J.
A lovely building, but as an auditorium not so great. The acoustics are poor and the floor flat, making it hard to see from the back.
D. W.
Absolutely beautiful interior decor!
D. N.
Lovely big set of public halls in Swansea. We visited for a beer festival. The main attraction is the famous Art Deco panels in the mail hall. There are also smaller, side halls which are worth seeing plus a bar etc.
N. T.
Lovely venue for a function. The food was tasty and presented nicely. The bar area would be better cordoned off in rows to save people pushing in and the bar staff aware who they should be serving
D. T.
Love going to listen to classical music at the Brangwyn! Sad they no longer serve coffee and ice cream in the non-bar room. We used to love this and it took pressure off the bar which is now impossibly crowded.
M. W.
Brangwyn Hall 5 star. I first visited the hall with my parents when it first opened in 1937. I was three years old at the time. We caught the No. 77 bus from Morriston to the Brangwyn on a Saturday afternoon as my father worked in the Duffryn tinplate works five days a week and had the Saturday off. A wonderful hall at the time. When I was sixteen I started working in the Guildhall as a junior clerk and had lunch in the Brangwyn hall canteen every day. Happy memories Morlais Williams
L. F.
Lovely place, can be hard to find parking for big events and drinks can be overpriced
P.
Stunning building, not explored all of it yet but from the events I've attended really nice, the bar and food is a bit expensive but otherwise if you're there don't forget to look up 👆
J. A.
Although I have often visited the Brangwyn Hall (within Swansea Council's 1920-1930s built Civic Centre - also known as Swansea's Guildhall), it had always been either for a Concert or a Trade Show, but in November 2017 my wife and I went there for a totally different reason; namely because our dog- and family- friendly self-catering holiday cottage had been chosen as a finalist in two categories for the Swansea Bay Tourism Awards 2017.
Apart from us walking away (at the end of the evening) with both a Winners Award plus a Highly Commended Certificate, it gave us an ideal overview of what The Brangwyn (Hall) were able to provide for functions, as well as our being able to assess both the quality etc of their food, and the efficiency and friendliness of their staff on the night, and I for one (and judging by lots of comments around us, most of those voices we could hear), were of the opinion that not only was all of the food delicious, but it all arrived on time, was cooked to perfection, was delivered (served) pleasantly and efficiently by an 'army' of waiters&waitresses, and the whole evening's event was a great success (especially for us, as we picked up two awards; "Highly Commended" for our Self Catering Holiday Accommodation, and we were the outright Winner for the new category of "Best Dog Friendly Tourism Business"! Now, that's what I call a really wonderful experience of and at the Brangwyn Hall, so very many thanks to everyone for making everything possible and enjoyable!
P. H.
Attended Swansea beer festival, good choice of ales, entertainment throughout most of day, lots of attendees. Down side, no tables & chairs in main beer hall, have to go to St George's Hall across from main hall or food bar (small) - no atmosphere whatsoever unless in main hall.
D. D.
Had a very enjoyable evening there facilities are first class able to see the act on stage from all parts of the hall nice bar too
L. L.
Fantastic place for a graduation. Beautiful building. A little cramped for the wheel chair access to the lift but otherwise fab.
T. J.
High Tea with a Harry Potter theme didn't disappoint. A good sized scone with generous helpings of cream and jam greases the satisfaction wheels.
n. v. d. B.
Impressive building and decorating. Climate control was not a field when this was built. Coming here on a very warm day can result in more than a bit of sweating.
D. a. N.
Excellent and enjoyable concert performance of Handel's Messiah.
Also went to an organ recital the previous week: what a marvellous Father Willis instrument it is.
J. D.
Love the Brangwyn Hall but bar staff couldn't cope in the interval especially with tea and coffee. As it was a Carol concert They should have anticipated demand
R. G.
A staple of local life, a beautiful building that regularly hosts shows and events for everyone to enjoy, the grounds surrounding are well looked after and the inside of the building is wonderful.
L. D.
What fabulous night we all had there on 13th Nov 2021
C. B.
Sunday lunch offered by JR Catering is by far the best value and tastiest "home made " Sunday lunch in Swansea
H. E.
The central pivot in ‘Nawr yr Arwr/ Now the Hero’ a drama created by Marc Rees in response to the Frank Brangwyn panels as part of the centenary of the First Great War. The drama began on the beach before bringing the crowds into the Hall then through various rooms to the closing sequence in the civic garden at the far end of the Hall, where soup was offered to the audience with ingredients inspired by the panels.
N. N.
An amazing hall which is in use just about every week for different functions and has very high ceilings with art deco decorations on the walls.
C. P.
Large space plenty of offices. No one was at reception. Cold old atmosphere disabled facilities. Parking in a week day is limited
D.
Great concert hall
b. b.
Amazing venue, historical and beautiful, many events taking place including concerts and balls, a must visit place in Swansea
R. C.
As I am a keen Church Organist with a passion for Organs, here at the Brangwyn has a very fine Organ and Id love to come and have a tinkle and to produce some CD's and possible DVD's so that the Brangwyn could sell to "boost" funds towards the upkeep and Organ and would happily consider a recital. All of this would be in memory of someone who passed away a number of years ago who took an interest in my passion for the organ where his son is a talented concert organist who gave a recital in the brangwyn back in 1999 to top this all up I've been down in senarios with the Brangwyn Manager "The Brangwyn is closed for refurbishment - no "casual playing" until all work is done, the next was "The Organ is undergoing a phased refrbishment scheme over a period so no "casual playing" until then. Id sent an email to the Manager to express interest on my proposed project no reply, so recently I went in had a look around the Brangwyn and asked to speak to the Manager who wasn't in my view very pleasant towards me she told that "no causal playing is allowed" We would be happy for you to do a recital" I emailed a complaint to Swansea Council which was passed onto a John Birmingham who was no help at all who basiscally doesn't know much about Organs!! If the Brangwyn do read this then please take note in what I've said here! - A very impressive place but I wanted to do this project in memory of someone and support the people of Swansea.
