Reviews of Hall for Cornwall
B. B.
Second time here and it was fantastic. Saw Sandi toksvig on the Friday night and loved it.
The venue was easy to navigate and the staff were super friendly. It just had a new revamp and looks incredible. It's clean and tidy and the bar looks super smart. Well done . Amazing.
K. K.
The new Cornwall playhouse is stunning. The seats are so much comfier. And the staff were brilliant with me, my anxiety was really bad that night and the lady who helped me was really really lovely. (I had the green blazer on and you commented about the colour of it).
The show was amazing and I can't wait to be back again in a couple of weeks.
N. H.
Great venue with good acoustics and comfortable seats. Well-designed interior using a lot of natural wood, so it has quite a Cornish coastal feel. The bar area shows off the heritage of the building with its impressive granite pillars. A very pleasant place to spend an evening seeing a concert, show or play.
B. B.
Really good experience Show was excellent and just what is needed at this time. Don't often see the audience taking part right from the start. Wonderful night out.

Arrived just as the doors opened one morning. This has not long been open again after a full refurbishment and it looks lovely. The cafe serves lovely coffees, cakes etc. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Will be visiting again soon.
V. M.
The 'new' Hall for Cornwall is a much improved venue. It's much more intimate with the view of the stage is excellent from all seats.
S. R.
The refurb has been done extremely well. The view from our seats in the middle tier was very good. I have a bad back so did worry about sitting for a prolonged time in the seats but actually only struggled the last 10min which is VERY good for me. Was easy and quick to get in to venue and take seat only only took 2 minutes when leaving I left with the big bulk exodus of people.
I noticed a big difference in the new layout is that the stage isnt as high as previously so the seats in the first few rows have a much better view than in the old layout as the drop from stage to floor used to be quite big.
Look forward to going back.

First visit here since it has been altered. The theatre is bright and modern and welcoming as are the staff. An excellent makeover. I love the way the seats have been arranged. Being a person of smaller stature I normally get the six foot plus person sitting in front if me and all I see is the back of their head but not now. The seats are layered which means you are now looking between the two seats in front. Excellent idea and enables a great view of the stage. I would recommend a visit and I will be returning soon.
A. L.
Went to watch treasure island. Best panto I've ever seen! HFC was really good too. Great renovation
K. F.
Great makeover although I loved it before. Don't think I would like to be up on the top balcony though. It looks very high but the view of the stage would be good. Have now been to more performances and am enjoying them immensely
B. W.
Amazing! The new layout of this theatre is lovely, plenty of legroom and spacious between seats.
Watched White Christmas, and what a show! The sound was just right and the performance - superb!
The service from the staff (mostly volunteers) were graceful and courteous. The whole experience was enjoyable.
J. S.
Superb location in the heart of Truro. Really comfy seats, with excellent views from all angles. Lots of brilliant shows throughout the year
M. D.
First time here, what a lovely theatre. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a brilliant time
K. D.
Been to see several shows and loved them all, staff are really friendly too
S. O.
Really pleased it's reopened, the refurbishment is fantastic. We love coming here, so nice to have big acts come closer to home rather that having to go up to Plymouth. Great layout and facilities.
B. H.
Very enjoyable Gary Barlow evening, helpful staff working hard to promote this venue. Comfortable seats welcoming staff. Clean toilets even with mixed use. Worth a visit to view auditorium have coffee tea snack plus. Thank you Hall of Cornwall.
a. m.
The show I saw was absolutely brilliant and I'd give that 5 stars.
My reason for 3 for the venue is whilst the viewing was fine, even though I was high up and at the back, the main issue was as with most places like this, is the over closeness with the stranger you are sat next to.
In addition to this is the lack of air con. Obviously hot air rises and the heat at the back was insane and almost unbearable. If booking seats, definitely book them in the lower tiers to help reduce the heat.
S. W.
Went to see Gary Barlow, a lovely modern venue with every seat looking like it has a great view of the stage. Be warned that the bar prices were offensively excessive (I expect to pay a premium in these venues) £5 for 2 cans of diet coke!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I didn't even get a plastic cup or ice for that. Ice creams were a fairly average £3 per tub. Make sure you park in a Cornwall council car Park as they are free after 6pm, others in the area wanted up to £18 for the day!
J. J.
First time there since renovations looking great.
Watched That Will Be The Day, great show as usual thanks for a great night.👍🙂
G. B.
Visited yesterday (31st August) brought my little along for the Dino live show. (Which was fantastic!). Upon arrival we went to the greets deck and found a young man who was happy to help point us in the right direction. Before the show started we decided to get a coffee (fairly priced) the young lady server was very rude and abrupt to myself and others and couldn't have been more disconnected and dissintrested in her job role, this almost led to my order being wrong! That being said the show was fantastic and WOWED us all! Worth every penny! Highly recommend!
j.
went to see we will rock you and adams family here, only have this photo but some of the best shows ive ever seen.
L. P.
Incredible what they have achieved with the refit. Went to see Six which was amazing. Seats comfy, not a lot of leg room but that's usual. Staff helpful and it was super clean!
M.
Lovely space but seats are uncomfortable, and squashed together and didn't have enough leg room. I couldn't see from where we sat.. I tried booking a box seat online but it kept saying they were full but when I got there they weren't. Performances were outstanding though.
a.
First visit here in years, the venue looks incredible now.
Quick and easy to find seats, and a brilliant view.
D. C.
Went to the Pam Ayres show. The seating is fantastic and all the staff we encountered were very friendly. The theatre were very respectful for our late Queen Elizabeth with it being the day before her funeral. There was a minute silence and a rendition of God Save the King. Pam Ayres was also respectful in how she spoke about the Queen and the decision not to cancel her performance. Overall a wonderful experience. Pam was also very friendly when signing her book for my wife.
G. G.
Saw the Ballet Trockadero - superb, technically incredible, unique company, very funny & clever characterisations. Second time I've seen them this month, saw in London.
Lots of very helpful staff. Disability access very good.
Please signpost the ice cream spots, long queues in intervals then we found an extra one tucked out of sight top balcony with no customers : )
E. P.
The Hall is a great hit since opening..This time we saw Adam Kays one man show - Excellent. Slightly restricted viewing in the back of stalls as the person in front of me was very tall so I would not book the back rows of the stalls again. The sound was fine. This was a good experience which led us to booking more shows eary to get seats we wanted. We'll worth becoming a member.
S. H.
Recently renovated hall for Cornwall now know as Cornwall Play house. Bigger with more seats. Aquatic could be better. There is a good coffee room and bar. Very helpful staff.
C. C.
Well it wasn't what I expected however we had a brilliant time and the show was hilarious.
I'm not sure I like the new seating arrangement. Those at the back will struggle if you are short and you have a tall person or someone with a hat sit in front of you. Something to bear in mind and you may want to sit in the wings on the mezzanine area.
N. H.
Lovely theatre. Refurbished old building. Good views from all seats. No dedicated car park but lots of car parking within easy walking.
S. G.
Lovely coffee in a very relaxed and welcoming setting.
Haven't been to a show (yet) but the auditorium does look very impressive.
T. S.
Watched the dinosaur world experience. Very professionally done, lighting/sound etc
C. W.
Beautiful venue 👌... not necessarily from the outside, but inside ➡️ good presentation, new interior, comfortable seating, good views from everywhere I would rate 👍 Only thing in my opinion: there could have been more bigger toilets on the ground floor, but I really had a warm welcome and a fantastic time, so it comes highly recommended 😊
T. T.
First time back since the revamp, lifts go to to the balcony but you can only go to the first floor and walk the rest, toilets for men on balcony level totally inadequate, hidden things like this spoil what could be a great venue. One thing I did notice is that if people get up to dance, if the person behind them can't or don't want to stand their views of the stage are lost completely.
A. G.
White Christmas. From the drink on the way in, to the ushers ensuring everyone was able to leave easily, not forgetting the superb show, everything was spot on. Looking forward to returning. Superb!!
D. E.
An amazing transformation and a great venue
B. R.
We love the new layout and refurbished theatre. Have been to many shows since it re-opened and all have been a great night out.
N. H.
Very helpfull staff, clean with a good lay out. Easy disabled access and great variety of performances. My only negative was that very few people dress up for the shows now. Mostly jeans and sweatshirts bit dissapointing.
h. s.
Lovely modern venue, great size, but the noise during the performance spoilt my enjoyment Shoes from folk going to the toilet on the wooden floor was ridiculous, talking from visitors leaving/moving about and staff behind me (circle row C seat 1) and folk leaving early on the wooden stairs.. it is far too open & needs rubber matting/carpet on the floor
G. W.
The refurb is very nice..good view but cant say the same about the show Very poor and was bored towards the end..Treasure Island..too much singing and too many modern songs that dont fit the title of the show
C. L.
I had a wonderful time there on Saturday the 5th as I saw live in concert fisherman's friends brilliant show h 4 c a lovely big place lotsxof seating I had a great view will definitely go back 😀
S. W.
Virtually impossible to have a 'bad' seat, despite popular performances selling out in super quick time.
Fabulous venue with organised, and speedy entry/access.
D. F.
Great seats, great value. Hall warm and clean. Staff always friendly and helpful.
K. S.
Lovely evening with Mother-in-Law watching The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Really enjoyed it and the recent refurb of the building is stunning.
M. G.
Saw Richard E Grant last night after flying in from Atlanta fist thing. Wasn't going to miss what turned out to be a very funny but plainly sad show from the amazing Richard E Grant!!
B. H.
Great looking theatre the refitting was well worth the wait have been to a few shows now and will definitely go to some more
R. T.
I used to love going to shows here, before it closed for upgrading. Since it opened again I have found it difficult to book and the atmosphere seems to have changed somehow.
M. M.
Great show in a great Theatre. As good as the original we saw in London three years ago.
J. H.
What a lovely place to be entertained since the refurbishment! I'm looking forward to seeing what else is coming up on the events calendar.
R. T.
Lovely experience each time I go. Friendly staff showing where the seats are. Fab surroundings
R. A.
A conversion done well. Worth a visit even if not going to a show just to listen to the enthusiasm from a volunteer (Penelope in our case) explaining all about it.
G. L.
Great venue to visit..the staff are sooo. helpful. Lovely re furbish .Will be going again
P. Y.
Went to see white christmas. It was absolutely amazing. The cast, the sets, the atmosphere were all fantastic. Highly recommended
J. P.
Had a wonderful evening, staff were very friendly and helpful, comfortable seating, plenty of leg room.
C. W.
Refurbished theatre with good seating and facilities. Friendly staff. It needs a cloakroom. Most seats have good sight lines.
D. H.
The refurbished Hall for Cornwall is superb!!! We went to see the brilliant Sandy Toksvig who we enjoyed immensely. The staff were lovely. The seats comfortable. The atmosphere warm and friendly. It's a really great evening out 👍
P. H.
What a wonderful job they have done beautiful .we had a lovely night Elvis was brilliant hope to be coming regular to the hall for Cornwall
K. T.
Visited for a matinee & was impressed by both the paid & volunteer staff. They were friendly & efficient & very helpful to those around with additional needs of various types. The new build is an interesting mix of styles; comfortable, but not entirely eliminating the "restricted view" seating. Do look at the layout view when booking, as some of the seating arrangements are unusual! Great show & an enjoyable experience around.
M. A.
The refurbishment is a great success. The auditorium has great views from the stalls and circle. (haven't been in the upper circle yet)
The rake is low and the seats are lined up behind each other rather than offset, so shorter person's may struggle to see. The decor and facilities are excellent. So far the programme has too many tribute acts for my taste, but this may improve with time.
S. B.
Great update, very nicely done. Staff were fantastic and the seats were comfortable. Enjoyed a lovely show and couldn't fault anything. Recommend this venue to all.
I. L.
Great White Christmas show and excellent drinks service, too. Lovely people.
R. G.
A brilliant concert in a wonderful venue. The auditorium is second to none, marvellous sound and completely uninterrupted views of the stage wherever you sit. Bar and cafe too. What more could anyone ask for?
P. C.
Visited the Hall for Cornwall for the first time in May 2022 to watch the Goes Wrong Magic Show and it is a fantastic venue. Very spacious, comfortable seating, beautifully decorated and nice friendly staff. It'll certainly be my first choice venue from now on.
N. G. p.
Fabulous transformation. Friendly staff, beautiful theatre & affordable refreshments. What a great experience. Great to be back in the theatre again. Loved it.
R. K.
What a lovely venue well laid out with good seating and plenty of leg room enhanced by the presence of Gary Barlow
J. S.
First time we have been, but certainly not the last - a great highlight in Truro. Cluedo was excellent with some engaging, witty and hilarious acting, including the bit of fantastic improv thanks to a moustache!
Bravo to all cast, crew and staff!
M. P.
Excellent new facilities, it's looking really smart! Loved 'Cluedo' too! 😎😎
a. p.
Fun show to watch, well organised venue, overall great experience ❤️
K. F.
Brilliant afternoon at the Hall for Cornwall, myself and my toddler really enjoyed seeing the twirlywoos. Booster seats for the little ones were really thoughtful. We look forward to visiting again
G. L.
Recently refurbished looking amazing. Staff are so helpful, we watched Jasper Carrott.
P. a.
Great seating, great views, easy to navigate snd service is tops
R. W.
Beautiful theatre. The brand new auditorium was perfect.
I. T.
Well done with the face lift, went to see cluedo recently, really good. Cafe one side, bar at other side. Great asset to Cornwall
D. J.
Wow the place looks amazing after revamp, the best seats I have seen in a theatre. Will be going back again soon.
A. L.
First time at the HFC last night since it’s been refurbished & what a transformation, so much better. Lord of the Dance was fantastic & so enjoyable to watch 👏🏼👏🏼
R. G.
The toilet facilities are a lot to be desired , on one level there is just one cubicle and one urinal in a very very small mens toilet and do not get me started in the unisex one on the ground floor. Nice helpful staff , little or no bins so items dumped all over the place . Very small stage so some productions restricted. Not a very well thought out refurb but staff are good .
A. H.
This is a lovely theatre, we have seen several shows here and stay at camp sites around the area for long weekends and show
s. m.
Very good entertainment, only downside was seat rows to close together , I was stepping on people's toes to get to my seat and couldn't get passed 1 lady , had to squeeze past , but made friends quickly with her
D. M.
Pretty fantastic since the refurbishment. The staff are absolutely ace! This makes the whole experience that much better.
E. P.
Went to see Best Exotic Marigold this evening and loved it. Great venue with lovely staff and amazing performance.
K. L.
Excellent venue, my only complaint is with so few toilets they need to ensure they are all in working order x
P. H. &. C. B.
The new Cornwall Playhouse is excellent
More seats, larger auditorium & stage.
Excellent
A nother great night athe theatre .🎭
M. B.
Went to see afternoon performance of Private Lives, which was very funny and excellent entertainment. Very good improvements to the Hall have been made, nice bar, cafe, and wash room, seating comfortable bit tight, but fine for me. Tad difficult to find the row letters and numbers, once you see the letter easy then, think maybe someone to point you in the right direction by the seats would have been good. I think it will be next time we go.
S. M.
A newly refurbished theatre. But still only one bar on the ground floor. This particular evening had problems ordering the correct drinks. Got there in the end.
D. M.
The HfC has a lovely auditorium now, comfortable seats which are very comfortable, however in my opinion the disabled seats are limited not in the number of seats available.
I use crutches and always try to get an aisle seat but there is nowhere to put crutches! I had to hold them all through the show.
Previously there was a trolley that came around in the interval, now you have the bar on one side, ice cream on the other side,, sweets in the cafe ( I paid £2.50 for a tub of approximately 40 1p sweets)
I appreciate things are going up in price, but I feel that prices are extortionate. Disabled facilities are limited!
S. M.
First visit since it reopened. Looks and feels very different. Although there are 3 levels it seems smaller. The stalls area could have done with a middle isle gap and heard a few other mention the same. Seat material colour is very nice but could have been slightly bigger and more space between knees and next row. Prices have increased substantially. Good that there are now entrances from both sides of the building.
G. M.
The new decor is really nice. I entered from lemon quay so went through the bar. The seating was comfortable and well positioned. I watched fishermen friends and it was a really good stage presentation.
T. B.
Great atmosphere wonderful staff brilliant preformace of six only thing is it gets really hot in the hall
J. C.
Amazing venue and a brilliant show
L. S.
The refurb is cool I like the sound system
M. S.
See a show there you will love it but
Look at their website and choose what you want to see. Today October the 23rd 2022 saw Russell kane live great show. Love the new décor.
G. H.
Brilliant resource for Cornwall. Hopefully will attract artists to appeal to all not just a select few.
K. S.
The renovation to the theatre and the building as a whole is wonderful. The design is modern and contemporary but still in keeping with the heritage of the building. There's also a great atmosphere. I look forward to many more visits.
P. K.
Watched an amazing talk by Tim Peake. Incredible evening, and wonderful venue. Well worth visiting.
G. U.
Fantastic venue, comfortable and spacious seats. Great customer service. Variety of seat prices for each show. So lucky to have such a lovely theatre in Cornwall.
V. W.
Went to the opening night of this wonderful theatre. It is an awesome space and such an important addition to the Arts in Cornwall
D. L.
Only went there today for the first time to watch when magic goes wrong. Absolute fantastic show lovely venue and not badly priced for a theatre, also staff are very friendly.
C. B.
We made our first visit to the refurbished HfC last week to see Magic Gone Wrong, a very funny and entertaining show.
However, I would like to mainly comment on the refurbishment of HfC, which is absolutely stunning. The architectural elements and the use of natural materials such as granite and wood are outstanding. The rich interior design so warm and welcoming, with a mixture of retro and modern elements.
Such a wonderful job was done on this building! A venue we can all be proud of. Keslowena (Congratulations)!! 💜
A. R.
The Hall for Cornwall lived up to my expectations and is a lovely theatre, beautifully clean and staff so very friendly. Highly recommend to anyone wishing to attend a performance of any genre. Thank you for making my first visit such a memorable one and I will be returning.
G. M.
Wonderful theatre offering a varied selection of West End shows, at fairly reasonable prices. I highly recommend going to see a she there.
Easy parking and located in the centre of Truru. I'll certainly be going again, very soon.
G. A.
I went to see everyones talking about jamie the last show with the main actor I loved it the show the seats where brilliant and so where the actors
K. P.
ITS BEEN COMPLETELY RENOVATED. LOOKS GREAT. SEEN A SHOW THERE TONIGHT AND THE SEATING WAS REALLY COMFORTABLE. ALSO EASY TO SEE THE STAGE FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE SITTING.
S. A.
Lovely place to visit. Very friendly staff. Great show. Some guys have all the luck. Rod Stewart
S. E.
Easy to book, tickets were checked and in our seats really quickly
I. D. U. B. S.
Wonderful venue.. White Christmas was a blast ... Five stars
G. H.
Had an enjoyable evening watching "ladies of letters" ....love the refurbishment.. very easy to get into lovely comfy seats...
N. T.
Watched the ELO experience, what a fantastic show. All the seats were full and everyone had a good view of the stage.
P. W.
Hall For Cornwall is closed for a complete refit. The old arena style auditorium and the surrounding on-the-cheap plasterboard interior has been removed and is being replaced by a stalls-circle-gallery style auditorium in steel that sits within the old granite central volume of the old market halls. There will be 1200 seats - more than enough to lure the best touring shows to an eager audience in the far west.
In the daytime the new auditorium will be visible between new granite-arched foyers at the Back Quay and (for the first time) Boscawen Street entrances, allowing the public to experience an all day cultural offer. At show time, the auditorium will be separated visually and acoustically from the foyers by retractable screens, blinds and doors, whose closing will signal the start of the performance.
The granite, steel and wood interiors, complemented with seating fabric echoing the colours of the Cornish shoreline, will give the space a tough authenticity that is uniquely of its place.
C. D.
Lovely refurb but not great on the upper balconies. Very tight and hot up there no center aisle, escape in a fire would be very slow, can't believe it passed regs. Also very stuffy up the back my wife felt ill coming out and others were fanning themselves. Another lady was sick - not a healthy environment. Need to get airflow would be terrible in the summer Toilets a little inadequate. Show was good though!
A. R.
Lovely theatre in a beautiful city, drinks are pricey
R. A.
Absolutely loved these beautifully restored gardens. A different vista around every corner! Such helpful and happy staff too.
J. C.
Brilliant great venue and so.e very good acts will be back
J. C.
Cluedo was great fun watch there they have modernised the theater will definitely watch a show there again.🎭⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
M. P.
Superb venue, great show and wonderful staff and volunteers
J. R. G.
Nicely refurbished theatre, good range of shows scheduled. Box office staff friendly and helpful (just booked another show!)
R. J.
This theatre has reopened after extensive modifications. It has a full set of new seats, completely redecorated, friendly staff. This season's program showed a wide variety of performances that seem to me to cover most tastes.
s. b.
Booked tickets for Abba night, fantastic! 1st time back here since the rebuild, it is such an improvement and completely loved everything about it. Staff very friendly and helpful, comfortable seats and beautiful decor and finishing touches
D. K.
My first visit since its reopening and it was a pleasant experience. I was in the upper balcony section, and had ample legroom (I'm 6' 3"), which can be a problem at some theatres. Impressive building too.
S. D.
What a beautiful venue for live theatre! My first visit to this recently reopened theatre space and I was very impresswith the facilities and the wonderful ambiance. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The show was wonderful too! 'Everyone's Talking about Jamie', suitable for an adult audience (language and sexual refeerences) was a brilliant production- congratulations to all involved.
T. F.
Like many others we booked thinking it would be based on the classic Cinderella. We then heard/read the reviews of it not being what was expected but went along with a open mind anyway. Unfortunately we left at the interval. Even though we knew it was not really going to be Cinderella as we all know, we didn't find the show very good at all even for what it was. Such a shame for Hall for Cornwalls first Christmas. The refurbishment was excellent just need the shows and performances to match.
The stars are for the brilliant refurbishment and great staff there that day.
G. C.
The refurbishment is great, plenty of amenities, and the staff were fantastic. The only down side is the amount people drink, and the almighty rush to get to the bar during the break, and this was at the ballet. Not a young crowd it must be said. It makes me laugh where you hear about the younger generation and drink issues. You should of seen this bunch of old farts. The staff handle this situation excellently.
A. E. (.
I went by bus to visit Truro and hall of Cornwall with united response group to see if I like to work there .also it looks brand news they done it all up
L. D. g. F.
A lovely venue for a huge variety of performing arts. Recent visit from the BSO was a highlight, as it was my 9-year-old granddaughter's first live classical concert
E. V.
Place, seating, view to stage just great. Staff great to guide you around. However, think 6.59 for 29 ml white wine in a can Without a cup/glass is daylight robbery and really not justified.
S. C.
The renovation work is brilliant and has made the venue feel so fresh. I was impressed by how clean the facilities were. All members of staff were so welcoming and very attentive to the needs of customers.
D. R.
We saw We will Rock You! Phenomenal. Great musical, costumes, live band, amazing talented singers and dancers! What an amazing night. Superb venue, seating and ecoustics!
T. C.
A happy night out watching Cinderella and first time at the Hall since refurbishment.
Very impressed with the new look.
Fun production with good music and talented cast.Well done
c. u.
Last night a friend and her son who has high functioning autism attended 'The curious incident 'with me
Her son is a huge fan of the book but the beginning was a trigger point
The staff were incredible
They gave us other options to see the show and looked after him and his mum so well
It was his first theatre experience and he managed to stay til the end thanks to the staff being so amazing...
Thank you so much you turned it around for him and hopefully we will return soon
W. O.
First time back since reopening. It looks good, smaller than before I think but a more intimate venue.
S. P.
Really love the revamped theatre. Good choice of entertainment.
G. S. P. T.
Beautiful venue. Gorgeous surroundings showing the best shows in Cornwall.
S. N.
Absolutely fabulous new take on the original Panto Cinderella. The set was magical and the stars of the Panto especially the hip hop twins, hilarious 😂. Good job done on the theatre itself too, really really lovely. Happy Christmas 🤶 🎄🎉to you all. See you hopefully in the new year.
H. T.
It's a nice auditorium. Was here to watch the Nutcracker by St Petersburg Ballet and will be back again in 2 weeks for Jimmy Carr. However, was a bit disappointed with the performance of the ballet. The dancers were amazing but as the size of the stage was smaller than other stages that they were probably used to (like in London), they couldn't perform their best. You could see that after doing a particular step repetitively, they had to cut it short making it look like they weren't dancing well. Which was a shame. But it's okay, it was still a good experience watching a ballet at HFC.
A. W.
Great venue with fabulous acoustics. Excellent facilities for the disabled and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
A. R.
Great play Private Lives by Noel Coward. The auditorium looks good, though sitting in the stalls was cramped and streams of people squeezing past! I had poor sightlines had to keep moving to see the stage properly. I'm of average height 5ft 3in.
S. T.
Great to have the hall back so we can get big acts in Cornwall as the next place is Plymouth/Exeter and Bristol so nearly over hour traveling.
The sound system could do some work.
A. C.
We saw an excellent concert with The Hollies. Have seen them there before and looking forward to go again to see them when they next visit a revamped HFC
C. Y.
Saw BOYZLIFE they were fantastic had a great nite thank you .
S. N.
Great evening. Lovely venue. Will be booking more events.
B. B.
All seats are comfortable and none have a restricted view. Our first visit after the refurb didn't disappoint
W. W.
Had a great night there last night, can't wait to go and see another show
W. D.
Saw Fisherman's Friends musical tonight to celebrate my 70th birthday. Huge thank you to the cast, director, musicians and set designers. Amazing show. Well deserved Standing Ovation. Huge thanks to my Daughter and Son for taking me and the rest of the family. The New Hall for Cornwall is wonderful.
M. R.
Just been in to get tickets for a show, what an absolute pleasure that was, the chap that served me was very friendly and the girl on the other till kept my 10 year old son amused whilst I was deciding where I wanted to sit ( think she secretly wanted a go on his Nintendo Switch 😂😂) great service... Well done
A. J.
Looks fantastic since the refurbishment but the seating rows are way to close to each other, making getting in and out very difficult. Obviously done to maximise seating/revenue, but in covid times being close enough to see a strangers fillings isn't brilliant.
C. A.
Glad to see this building being used again and much made of it's original architecture. The theatre is still being finished although in use. The woodwork is astounding. I wish it every success, Cornwall needs it's own theatre that can produce West End shows. The theatre is certainly starting to show the benefit of having such a venue in Cornwall with it's recent productions of Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Everyone's talking about Jamie
B. L.
Small stage quite high up still very good atmosphere
J. L.
This is a great provincial theatre. We have seen two outstanding productions since re-opening. Some glitches with the bar service but we are sure this will be resolved by the management.
C. E.
Excellent really nice and comfortable. Jasper carrot still funny. Bevs band great good to hear the old hits
С. Г.
Was very funny and nice for my child.
T. D.
Loved the Gary Barlow show the facilities are top notch with lovely staff
G. D.
We had a very entertaining evening watching Tim Peake last evening. Everything was very good except that they have to step up a gear with the bar and drinks during the interval. We went to Private Lives a couple of weeks ago and we pre-ordered drinks for the interval; a glass of wine and a gin and tonic. For some reason the glass of wine came in what looked like a dentist's tumbler when there were rows and rows of wine glasses hanging up. Last night, the lemonade was just a can of Sprite dumped on the table, no glass. Come on H for C; this is a nice evening out at the theatre, not lunch at MacDonald's.
M. R.
What a good job they made of modernising the theatre. Worth the wait.
J. P.
Saw a show here last week, Great now it's had a lovely refit.
M. B.
Really enjoyable venue to visit - watched the Simon & Garfunkel story... Great viewing angle, lots of space and refreshment facilities are easy to use!👍 Will be back again soon!
R. G.
Went to see The Simon and Garfunkel Story. Brilliant show and the new playhouse is a great venue plus all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
K. S.
Comfy seats, excellent staff and a great live act.
S. T.
Went to see 'That'll be the day' a great show. Seats were comfortable, staff were helpful.
T. A. A.
Pleasant and comfortable theatre staging a wide range of shows. A few tips. The Playhouse Bar in the new main entrance (Boscawen Street) has a coffee machine but in the evening doesn't sell coffee. You have to walk through the stalls to the Cafe on the other side or go out of the building and walk round to the entrance on Lemon Quay. The interval ice-creams are sold at the back of the stalls. There's an usher on the right - but they have a limited selection that runs out. So don't queue there - go to the ice-cream kiosk on the left. Finally, if you've got long legs or claustrophobia, I'd recommend seats G6 & G7 in the stalls. Enjoy!
S. A.
Went to see Lord of the Dance. Absolutely fantastic! Wonderful experience.
M. C.
What an amazing evening we had and what an amazing venue
J. B.
Not impressed on 3 toilets plus only one disabled toilet near the cafe .plus men woman share .really .not sure if any others on the main floor had heard some upstairs .coffee and tea cakes in small area again considering the shows can hold is it two thousand people .never got to the bar but 4 sure if there is hardly any toilets who wants to drink anything as only goin to stand in long cue. Can't say at mo about seating as I couldn't see at time s with the person in front of Me .but amazing play fisherman s friends well worth seeing
K. L.
Fantastic theatre, friendly staff. Was lovely to visit!
M. C.
Brilliant beautiful refurbished, roomy for legs. Great feeling
K. H.
Lovely modern hall- looks and sounds great.
L. M. L.
Went to see The Curious Tale of the Dog in the Night Time. Highly recommended. The cast were outstanding and the stage itself is amazing.
J. P.
We went to see the Fisherman's Friends. The show was fantastic. However, the toilet arrangement was terrible...one door into men and women's toilets with everybody queueing at the halfway interval and people trying to get in and out at the same time. Definitely not a good design!
J. M.
Great show, lovely new venue!
L. O.
Lovely hall, brilliant shows held, very enjoyable
D. K.
First visit since the refurbishment - the show, Fishermen's Friends was absolutely excellent, a complete triumph.
The new theatre has some issues. Sightlines are restricted by a wide handrail at the front of the balcony and circle, especially in the corners. We basically could not see the left hand corner of the stage from our seats. Ok for tall people i suppose (6ft plus) That has now been recognised formally in the booking system and they have changed our seats for later performance without any questions which was good customer service, but I find it difficult to believe they couldn't have worked that out in the two years it has taken.
To my eye the handrail stil looks low so watch children, the old hall had a glass screen.
Stairs are very odd, there is a turn in them and they are quite narrow and there is no keep left or right sign so it gets very crowded with people bumping into each other.
I don't believe the bar area is any better than the old layout but the toilets are much nicer, not on obvious locations so it's worth sussing them out before you sit down! Wheelchair provision is much better
J. H.
First visit back since the refurbishment - loved We Will Rock You!
P. E.
Les Ballet Trockadero, brilliant show a must see
A. H.
Amazing place, staff are fabulous and I love the refurbishment, couldn't be better.
B.
Beautifully redone
Staff our well trained and organised.
Good bar, comfy seats, great selection of snacks, not to over priced
Cinderella was the most cornish thing I've very seen and I absloutley loved it well done
D. B.
I have been to three shows and plan more . I love the new interior with its natural textures . It smells nice of wood . Well done for the great face lift .
D. D.
Sound quality really good. Bar area set up well and can pre order drinks for interval.
G. H.
Lovely place. Great theatre.
B. M.
Loved the refurbishment, great time watching Jason Manford ...really good show, only downside was testing covid positive 3 days later. Hardly anyone wore a mask, ah well thems the rules now🤪
P. G.
Was a fantastic night can't wait for them to come back next year x
T. G.
Brilliant show enjoyed the Callestick Ice cream in interval
A. F.
We went to Hall for Cornwall to see Fisherman's Friends. Lovely staff, lovely place, and the drinks were reasonable. Only downside was that the ice-cream was cash only. Next time!
A. T.
Not happy with the unisex toilets on ground floor, the hall is lovely after refurb but toilets let it down
T. T.
It's not open just yet but the auditorium is looking really good. Many shows to be enjoyed at the venue I'm sure. Fishermen's friends are in rehearsals and sounding good.
T. M.
Great theatre.. lots of room inside.. no cramped seats.. great view of stage.. would recommend
B. A.
Love ❤ this new and exciting reorganisation of a much improved Theatre and performance arena.
N. D.
Excellent work on rebuilding the hall. Theatre space is well designed and should be able to support large productions. Looking forward to the next one!
J. W.
We are so fortunate to have this beautiful building. Comfortable seats, good viewing from all areas, a lovely bar, friendly and helpful volunteers.
L. B.
Fantastic night, didn't want it to end!
Love the refurb, very good indeed. Thank you all. XxxxX 😍
N. S.
Fantastic auditorium in which to watch the musical Fishermen's friends - which itself was the best stage musical I have seen, well maybe not quite as good as Les miserables, but pretty darn close!
K. H.
Lovely before.....but now even better. The transformation is fantastic, can't wait to visit again soon!
D. R.
It was fantastic show Gary Barlow was brilliant
C. T.
We watched the Adams Family, what a great show. The revamped theatre is so good, wonderful evening.
T. C.
Great venue for a great show. Just reopened after refurbishment and dealt well with crqds. Friendly, efficient staff. Would recommend.
R. W.
Much updated and enjoyed first visit since refit. 😊 excellent interior now...venue spit on. Here's hoping for some quality acts to natch facilities.
s. p.
Visited this week for Banff film festival, a great venue with friendly staff. Renovation is fab!
X. X.
Fisherman’s Friends in the new hall for cornwall was great. The venue is good and I look forward to it attracting the top performers to our part of the world.
The only thing that would have made this better is not having to take out a mortgage for a round of drinks. Hall for cornwall has London prices.
p. d.
Now that the theatre has been re-vamped hopefully we will see more and better acts
Went to see Sarah Milican last night absolutely hilarious.
E. F.
Haven't been since they renovated , and it was fantastic.
S.
Really good refit and the show was excellent
M. S.
Really nice place. Clean and tidy, enjoyed my experience and would go again.
S. R.
Saw We Will Rock You here. What a fantastic show. The cast were absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
A. P.
Gary Barlow was fabulous had a good view
J. H.
There was plenty space for ya legs .And cafe before you enter the theatre.
A. T.
Lovely venue and the refurbishment is gorgeous!
K. W.
Great venue with friendly staff, prices a little high at times. Drinks very expensive.
Visited again may 2022. Impressive rebuild. Same points apply about ticket prices - this is cornwall so £130 for two tickets is crazy for everyday people
T. H.
I have always loved the HFC, but the revamp makes it feel amazing. I've seen 6 performances recently and love the feel and ambience.
J. G.
Great Show all about Jamie we were in the circle seated near the edge sound was ok but could have been better.
c. r.
Loved the show and the venue is stunning, with the upgrade, but the bar is seriously over priced
F. P.
Saw Dionne Warwick. Still got it. Bar staff ok by not the best. A good night anyway.
C. B.
They have done a good job of the refurbishment. Seats we had this time were comfortable excellent view.
D. P.
Just had a multi million upgrade, looking fantastic
L. G.
This theatre looks fantastic after the refurb/refit. Stunning, comfortable seats and great layout 👌
B. L.
Seen SIX fantastic.
K. H.
Refurb is great and staff are so helpful and friendly
A. S.
Had a great experience, the ushers very helpful in assisting to find seats and information, toilets very clean and not long queues. Performance was grate very enjoyable experience.
M. H.
Saw 'We will rock you'. Fantastic venue, every need met for all ages. Great night out.
s. D.
Saw private lives here play was brilliant. They made a fantastic refurbished job on the hall.my only complaint is seating is to close together
t. f.
At the moment of doing this review, its being refitted, when we went there a few years back, it was quite small, if you sat in the front rows, it could get a little loud, you are better to sit a the back at the top. They do put on some great shows.
T. S.
Easy to get to and a lovely, relaxed way about it. Quite small for a theatre but for me this adds to the charm and is an absolutely lovely place to go
t. w.
Went to see private lives. Great show. Actors and crew great. It looks and feels great. Well done
K. W.
The hall for Cornwall looked very nice after the recent refit. Comfy seating. The pantomime wasn't much good.
D. H.
First time back after the refurbishment. Great place to be able to watch touring westend shows.
J. W.
I loved my first visit in the new venue. The staff were so helpful.
S. S.
Although the original show was cancelled due to Covid😐 they used the evening to introduce people to their seat's & everyone was very friendly & helpful 😁
C.
Fab shows, nice new seating, missing cup holders and bar well overpriced. Always a queue for the ladies.
J. E.
My first visit and what an amazing theater. It has to be one of the best if not the best modern theatres in the UK.
i. 3. P. (. 5.
Great little venue in the heart of town and nice choice of food from the surrounding establishments.
N. K.
Seen some great shows here. The staff are always welcoming. Good views throughout. As a 6ft+ person, the leg room could be better and the seats can become a bit uncomfortable by the end of a long show - hopefully the refurbishment will help on this front. The disabled seating appears well placed for both a good view and easy accessibility (rather than right at the front or out in the wings).
J. S.
Really brilliant place for going to see show and groups.
R. D.
I saw ELO it was brilliant, the seating is great 👍
R. G.
Made a lovely job of our Truro theatre which we will carry on seeing the excellent shows, the seats are lovely and comfy and plenty of leg room
J. R.
Brilliant venue, and watched a brilliant play Private Lives with Nigel Havers & Patricia Hodge. Very enjoyable 👍
J. T.
First time back bars a bit confusing but amazing well thought out layout, off set layout so I am not looking at the back of someone's head. Well done.
M.

S. M.
Had a brilliant night watching Simon & garfunkel stories
T. S.
Great venue and very comfortable seating. I liked the bar being in the auditorium too.
A. l.
Fantastic job done to it. But the only thing is if you are sat up the very top seating at the back it is very hot and no air circulation.
L. V.
Great venue, perfect size room even for top level to see.
C. H.
Love the new layout but not the finish. Very industrial, feels like sitting in a warehouse.
M. K.
Love the new look of the place. Great visuals when seeing the play. Great time
C. H.
Always a great variety of first class shows. Refurbished theatre now reopened and looks fabulous. Still trying to work out where the best seats are in the new layout.
A. G.
Fantastic auditorium, l hope they can attract plenty of good shows and big names.
C. L.
Great to have the HfC back. Looks really good since the refurbishment.
L. R.
Looks incredible first time back since the refurbishment and covid...

Nicely renovated theatre. I’m impressed by the new arrangement and the show we saw also was excellent.
V. W.
Worth waiting for brilliant new renovations. We went to watch the Royal Marine Band absolutely wonderful from start to finish
C. M.
Thank you to Andrew in the box office, between us we sorted my parents their 'named' seats for a show this summer.
J. M.
The venue has been improved beautifully.
The Cinderella panto needed some hiss, boo and he's behind you.
C. T.
Saw Adams Family. First visit since renovation. Comfortable.,convenient and enjoyable.
J. A.
Great venue, though now closed for refurbishment for 20 months. Watched Beauty and the Beast on ice which involved very talented Russian ice skaters. Would recommend parking on Lemon Street if after 6 as it is free.
M. H.
Saw Leo Sayer. Excellent entertainer, Excellent band, Great venue
C. G.
Beautiful refurbishment...easy to a access our seats ...Great show ..Cindarella...all in all a lovely evening ..
D. C.
Have seen some fabulous shows here over the years, but the reason for only 4 stars is the seating and leg room can be a lot better. Restaurant is fabulous food excellent and service they always go out of there way to help our favorite is Jess young Irish girl always so very helpful 'management material" have a great week very best wishes David......
B.
Great theatre now its been bought into the 22nd century, also great shows.
G. C.
My first visit since the renovation and wow what a job they have done
C. C.
Great show venue. Shame it's having to close for 2 years for refurbishment. Just hope it's worth it and they don't put prices up when it reopens. Saw Beauty and the Beast on ice this week and such a spectacular professional show
K. J.
Great night out, smaller venue makes for an intimate evening. It’s getting a face lift soon which should make a big difference! Good range of comedy gigs and film festivals.
S. C.
We Will Rock You. Amazing show. Looking forward to seeing many more this year.
S. F.
Beautiful renovation job
G. H.
Small almost intimate theatre. Extreme raking of the seats means a good view from most seats. Good sound too. Small cafe with good food open throughout the day, and a nice bar upstairs. A lift is available to the upper floors.
T. S.
Looking forward to seeing more London shows now the refurbishment is finished.
J. A.
Great venue, recently refurbished. A fabulous entertainment setting.
L. B.
Smart venue, handily located. We'll worth visiting if only for a drink in the bar
G. C.
A lovely little theatre. A great asset for Cornwall.
P. G.
Lovely little theatre. Thoroughly enjoyed Brendan Cole's "All Night Long" show. Perfect seating throughout the Hall - everyone could see quite comfortably.
J. C.
Some great acts and the seating is pretty good wherever you are in the auditorium, at least for stand-up and bands. Drama productions with deep box sets can suffer some limited visibility. Not the cheapest venue !
T. W.
Wonderful experience and what a brilliant renovation
g. m.
Amazing evening, thank you Hall for Cornwall!
M. M.
Very impressed wonderful helpful staff can't wait to go back most enjoyable evening
H. D.
Very comfortable, had a great evening.
G. E.
Great theatre, looking forward to seeing some original performers in the schedule.
j. H.
Beautiful building. All staff helpful and friendly except the greeting elf. Was very rude to us.
S. S.
Great venue and easy access too
H. D.
Great theatre showing a huge variety of genres, we are so pleased to have it in Cornwall as there are so few other options for quality live theatre (the wonderful Minack Theatre excepted). Layout and visibility is good, acoustics excellent. It attracts top acts and companies.
I. F.
Great improvement, sound was good.
P. J.
Great show last Wednesday night
C. R.
Gorgeous theatre after refurb, loads of seating, great facilities

Just back from watching The Full Monty with My Daughter.
The reception staff were very friendly on arrival as were the bar staff in foyer and bar upstairs.
We had a lovely sandwich and apple juice. Ordered another apple juice for the break.
Indulged ourselves with a lovely piece of low fat fruit cake and slice of ginger cake. Yummy.
The Show was Brilliant. All the cast gave a 110% a laugh a minute. They were all stars and none of them a Diva.
Thank you very much Everyone . I Travelled all the way from Plymouth and back and it was well worth the effort. Brilliant Evening.
P. S.
Great! Terrific performance of Private Lives. Wonderful to have such a good facility locally.

Great acoustics, comfy seats and the staff were excellent. Not enough toilets however.
N. B.
My first trip to Hall For Cornwall. GREASE what a wonderful performance by all. Didn't want it to end. Wherever you sit here you have a great view of the stage. Props were amazing. Will definitely be visiting again when down in Cornwall.
D. L.
Saw Grease this evening with several members of the family. The show was brilliant but spoilt by two girls in front that talked all the way through second half and spent all the time sending selfies on Facebook and drinking bottles from their bags. Several people told them to be quiet but didn't sink in. This is the worse experience at the Hall that we've had.
K. K.
Brilliant, good set up
A. B.
Absolutely beautiful venue. Brilliant
T. S.

Once the venue opens it looks like it will be a great addition to Cornwall. Good discount for becoming a member.
T. S.
The new hall is looking fantastic you really get a feel of a special night out
E. R.
Loved it before but now it's had it's makeover it's incredible!!
M. E.
The play was brilliant -as with all the productions I've been to see. It's a shame with this being my closest such Theatre - that tickets (especially pantomime) are so pricey.
N. J.
Fantastic evening out watching "Cluedo"

P. B.
New. Revamped. Looking amazing. Great production when we were there
M. M.
A very sweet venue for music - albeit with a 70s vibe. The sound quality was great, though, which is surprisingly rare in venues such as this.

Old time.About to spend 20 million on the place.
That won't improve the experience.
Let's spend 20 million on humans...his and putting roofs over people's heads first
O. P.
