I'm not sure i can find the words to explain how amazing Susan is & i honestly can't recommend Susan and her classes highly enough. I attended Susan's pregnancy yoga classss through both my pregnancies, followed by mum & baby yoga when baby arrived. Susan creates a welcoming, safe space for new mums and mums to be to meet, share, ask questions - as well as do some much needed yoga of course!
My pregnancies and maternity leaves would not have been the same without Susan and the lovely mums I have met through her classes. Thank you for everything Susan xx

Susan is a wonder-woman. Full of honest and relatable advice, based on experience and best of all years of supporting countless women with this whole motherhood thing. Her hypnobirthing course was the best thing we invested in during pregnancy (that and some maternity leggings 😂) It made me and my husband feel equipped to ask questions, advocate for our choices and know a bit more about what was about to go down with birth! We had a fantastic birth experience and great foundations for post-natal expectations laid by attending Susan's course. Subsequently attending Susan's Mum and baby yoga classes have been a breath of fresh air, a place to meet like-minded mothers, and take time for me to move this new post-natal body! Susan leads everything she does with grace, truth and the air of reliability that makes you feel truly listened to, valued and supported. Susan's Mum and Baby Yoga classes are like a warm hug from an old friend ☺️ The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, and I always leave the class feeling recharged and reassured. The yoga calms the mind and eases aches, and the class also offers the opportunity to connect with other mums, chat and share any concerns or thoughts. It is by far my favourite class and I would highly recommend it to all new mums!

I first came across Susan and For Modern Mothers when I was looking for a hypnobirthing course during my first pregnancy 3 years ago. I attended on my own (as hubby couldn’t make it due to work commitments) and Susan put me completely at ease and partnered with me to go through some of the interactive parts of the course.
From then, I was fully onboard with Susan’s approach, ethos and all round wonder for birth prep and post-birth related, so I quickly signed up to pregnancy yoga which was so empowering and reassuring to chat to other expectant mum’s and of course move and stretch my pregnant body.
Once my son arrived, I signed up again for as much as I could! So went along to Mum and Baby yoga as well as Baby Massage - again, such fulfilling, relaxing and reassuring classes.
And now with baby no. 2, I’ve been through Pregnancy yoga again and currently at Mum and Yoga with my 4 month old.
So you as you can gather, I couldn’t recommend Susan’s classes enough! And if you start during pregnancy, I’m sure you’ll get hooked like me! Thanks Susan, keep doing what you’re doing as it’s so supportive and enriching xxx

Susan’s pre and post pregnancy yoga classes are fantastic!
Alongside the yoga, Susan has created a real village of mums, where you can safely ask questions, share highs and lows and gain friendships.
Susan’s hypnobirthing course is also a must! Great up to date information, that is considerately shared.

These yoga classes coupled with hypnobirthing course were a total game changer for me. I went from feeling like I was facing pregnancy by myself with no experience, to feeling like I was part of a supportive community where everyone was going through the same thing. I have learnt so much from Susan's skill and expertise, and after the hypnobirthing course found myself actively looking forward to labour instead of putting it out of my mind. I commenced virtual pregnancy classes at the beginning of the first lockdown last year and went every week until 39 weeks. Every week, I looked forward to my yoga sessions virtually as the sessions kept me in a positive mindset during the pandemic. The sessions also allowed us to speak to other mothers-to-be, with all sessions having a part at discuss pregnancy matters and our week. It made me feel part of a community even though we were stuck in our own homes.
I also invested in Susan's Hypnobirthing Course with my husband and I was so glad I did. All the tips and tricks Susan advised were so useful for my home birth. Breathing techniques learnt in this course were so useful for my birth and I (and my husband) really do think my birth went so smoothly as a result of hypnobirthing.
Finally, I also attended Baby Massage Classes and Mother and Baby Yoga when my child was born and I also recommend these too!
Susan is absolutely fantastic and I would 100% recommend her during pregnancy and postnatally. Thank you so much for all of your help and support during such a daunting time for many of us mothers/mothers-to-be.

I cannot thank Susan enough for all of her help, tips, advice and resources shared since I started Yoga with her at 24 weeks pregnant. The class was everything I was looking for and enabled me to meet other pregnant women in my local area. When lockdown was put in place due to Covid-19 Susan continued with the classes over Zoom, which were also great and remained very professional, friendly and welcoming. My husband and I also did the Hypnobirthing course which was 10/10! The techniques and practices learned during the classes really helped both in the run up to and during my labour; despite the labour not being straight forward in the end. Our baby was breech until very late on in the pregnancy and Susan offered lots of advice and resources to help turn the baby...which worked!! Since having our baby 2 weeks ago Susan has also sent more useful links to help with breastfeeding - she has been nothing but amazing since I joined the For Modern Mothers community and I'll definitely be booking onto the baby and mother Yoga classes :) thanks again for everything Susan x

Yoga
The Yoga was great to connect with other Mums to be and I would highly recommend it for any pregnant woman. Susan is a font of knowledge and really helped me to feel empowered and knowledgeable about my pregnancy and birth.
Hypnobirthing
It was really useful as I was very nervous about labour and birth. It complimented the yoga really well and expanded the breathing techniques we’d touched on in yoga and added to the knowledge about birth. Using calming breathing with positive affirmations was really useful and Hypnobirthing helped me sleep in my last weeks of pregnancy and really helped manage the early stages of labour.

I feel like Susan has been a large part of my pregnancy and early motherhood journey, having been to her pregnancy yoga, hypnobirthing course, baby massage and mum and baby yoga. I would highly recommend her if you’re pregnant and in or near York, and I have done so to as many people as possible.
To me, Susan is incredibly supportive, empathetic and knowledgeable, and possesses an amazing ability to create safe, warm and accepting spaces every class. I found that these qualities allowed me to share concerns, get advice and become part of a community of mums, which has been so important to me.
The hypnobirthing course helped me feel more confident about giving birth and empowered me to develop a birth plan that felt right for me. The resources Susan provided were excellent and very helpful to look at during and after the course. The relaxations worked and Susan has the perfect voice to deliver them (she’d be great for audiobooks), they were nice to listen to on an evening and go to bed feeling zen. The breathing techniques covered on the course and during the pregnancy yoga classes were fantastic during labour, with my partner coaching me through what we’d both learnt I felt more in control and focused. Plus, the snacks provided on the course were yummy, Susan is also a great baker (is there anything she can’t do?!).
If you’re pregnant or a new or new-ish mum I would recommend giving one (or more) of Susan’s classes a go. York is very lucky to have Susan!

The course content is incredibly informative and left my husband and I feeling wonderfully empowered and prepared for the birth. It is also hugely versatile so whatever your birth journeys ends up being, what you learn on the course will come in useful!
In addition to the knowledge you gain, the support from Susan is amazing. Susan is friendly and kind and takes the time to understand you and your pregnancy to ensure you have the tools you need for your pregnancy, birth and beyond!

I really can't thank Susan enough for the hypnobirthing course we did with her. We learnt SO much, way more than I expected. I finished the course having really considered so many different aspects of my pregnancy and myself. my expectations of labour and birth really did change with all the information and time to think and make our own informed decisions. I was so positive in the run up to the birth - what a huge difference it made! I loved the visualisations and breathing practices, so simple and easy to rememberand also found the yoga breathing we did and the yoga postures for aligning baby really helpful too. I cannot recommend Susan's course enough! We attended two sessions in May 2018, which covered everything you need to know about pregnancy, birth and beyond. This means there is no need for further antenatal classes! The calm and small classes (just 3 other couples on our course) suited us perfectly, as it felt very tailored to us. Susan is professional, warm and importantly to us very contactable - I feel as though she has been a constant helpful resource during our pregnancy! The course resources are very helpful - Susan providing everything you need and more, including extras such as birth affirmations and aromatherapy oils, which aid the practice of the techniques. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first pregnancy, which I largely attribute to Susan's courses and help. I don't think I would have had the same experience had we not have taken the course. My husband wasn't totally convinced prior to the course about the benefits of hypnobirthing, but now also listens to Susan's tracks as there is one specifically for Dads too. We feel prepared and ready to meet our baby, thanks to Susan! I'd definitely encourage you to get in touch with Susan to find out more.

We attended Susan's hypnobirthing course this month and it was fantastic. The perfect mix of relaxation techniques, evidence based information about all your options, non-judgemental advice, guides on how to remain in control and make your own decisions, how to navigate the NHS systems and tons more. The effort she had put into the course was evident throughout and we were sent away with loads of extra info and freebies. I just wanted to thank you Susan for your amazing hypnobirthing course. As you know I was so stressed out about the birth before we started, and I really cannot believe the change that the course has made. I'm really enjoying the hypnobirthing tracks each evening, they really help me relax and sleep too. And I just feel so informed about everything, and because of that so empowered (not sure I've ever felt this way before!!). And Chris is really on board with it, which is so lovely (he was so skeptical when I booked - and so the change in him is just amazing too).
