A great family day out if your interested in trains! Very close to York station. Car parking is £10 with entry to the museum free. There are lifts to access different levels and suits most mobilities. From the main shed exhibition to other displays you'll find something for all. There's a good stocked shop, cafe with seating, benches if you bring your own like we did and the miniature railway for the young ones. AVOID the steam train ride at £4 per passenger it goes about 50 yards tops, wasn't expecting it to go too far but still...........

This museum is absolutely wonderful. All types of trains from all time periods and from all around the world. They have some very famous engines as well as a great deal of the royal carriages from different kings and queens of England. The museum is free to enter which makes it even better. There is a large car park very near but if you can I would strongly recommend using York's park and ride to save driving into York and the cost of the car parks. There's all the normal cafes shops and clean toilets.

Great Museum Plenty to see and do to fill a whole day My favourite parts were the miniature Railway ride and the Viewing platform with the live rail information Also helpful staff
