Fab, well priced & memorable experience suitable for all ages. Visited with my two teens and we all really enjoyed it. The actors and setup was fab, really well thought out, kept us guessing & really made the experience interesting, spooky & jumpy at times. Recommended!

We enjoyed our visit to York Dungeons the actors are fabulous and really make you laugh pulling my husband out 3 times to join in . Each room telling a different tale from Yorks history, my only negative is charging £12 for 1 photo is a …

Excellent actors and scripts. The Judge and Witch were my favorite. Great organization with sending only a small group together through the scenes, so not overcrowded. The silly photos taken at the beginning and opportunity to buy them was a great feature and keepsake especiallysince no photography is allowed inside. It was an overall great experience and a must do if you are in York. Buy your tickets in advance online is a must. There was no wait or line because of the specific time selected on the ticket, which was great!

Me and my friend had a phenomenal time at this dungeon, where our tour was preceded by taking pictures that cast us in ancient settings. The 10 rooms that the tour went through really drew us in, spanning 100s of years of the history of York epically! Clothing in different styles for the times was worn by the guides, who served as actors that brought the audience into their show at points, getting volunteers to play the roles of ancient characters on the go! The effects utilized were stunning, including fake blood when they pretended to behead someone and a carriage seemingly moving when avoiding an attack. Phones were not allowed for the tour as the sign made very clear, though I managed to capture some pics of the surrounding areas! The staff were highly welcoming and friendly, giving me directions to the toilets when I asked that have a humorous sign up!

If you're visiting York, this is 100% a must do!! It's just plain fun. I went in thinking it would be cheesy and lame but it was hilarious, scary, and informative! The actors were seriously amazing. This place was honestly the highlight of my York visit! Don't forget to book your tickets!

A bloody good time. Its a fun experience all round. My wife and I visited there recently during our honeymoon and had a brilliant time. There's jump scares and comedy in equal measure. We went to the late show too which was even more fun. We were initially a little worried about accessibility but the team there were really helpful and we were able to get round the whole venue with the wheelchair using the starlings they have there. Highly recommended for all.

Extremely good fun! The actors do a brilliant job and perform with great gutsy humour and gusto! Brilliant atmosphere. Superb attraction. Would definitely go again and recommend it to anyone visiting York. Great for adults, couples and families with kids. Lots of history too, accurately told. 🙂🙂🙂

Well what can you say about this attraction apart from 'fantastically fiendish!'. I normally adorn my reviews with photos but, as requested on arrival, it is phobited to take photos, and to be honest it would spoil the whole experience if people added photos because you REALLY need to visit the York Dungeon blind so to speak,to enjoy all its majesty in full. It truly is an experience to enjoy (and to be scared by) but I won't say anymore on its contents if you haven't experienced it already, as it would spoil the story telling. Be prepared to have EVERY hair on your body stand on end as you pass through it though and you will exit having had a totally surreal experience. The actors are all fantastic, and with the settings you really feel you have been THERE and you won't forget it easily lol. 10/10 👍👍👍

York dungeon is an amazing attraction. I had so much fun here. My word of warning would be that it’s not for the faint of heart, and they do like to pick people out of the group to play silly and embarrassing games with them! However, the attraction is priced very reasonably and is a great way to spend the Halloween season. It took about an hour to get around it in total, and you basically go from room to room where actors do spooky performances and talk about medieval York in a fun and engaging way. It can be a bit packed inside with other people, so I’d suggest taking a mask if you’re worried about Covid. It’s worth being aware that you can’t go back into the gift shop when you’ve left, so make sure you pick up anything you want there and then. Overall though it’s excellent. The actors are very engaged, and it’s genuinely scary. It seems to have improved since the last time I was there about five years ago, so it’s definitely worth a visit!
