Reviews of Bryngarw Country Park
S. W.
Absolutely love this place. There are so many lovely walks to explore within the beautifully kept grounds. It is a very large park with many different sections, so even when it is a little on the busier side, it doesn't feel crowded. There is a good sized pay and display carpark, that is reasonably priced. They also have an annual pass option which offers great value if you will visit more than 10 times in a year. It is one of our favourite places in the area to walk our dog on weekends, would highly recommend a visit.
K. R.
Great place to wander around with different walks through the woods, a lovely river and a small area of wooden walkways. The playpark here is great! Parking was £3.50 all day and there’s a small café and visitor centre. The hot dogs weren’t particularly nice however!
A. O.
Beautiful walks by the Garw River.
Easy to get to from the junction 36 on the M4 and plenty of parking. There's a cafe and visitor centre and the various gardens and walks are well sign posted.
C. S. G.
Beautiful place, free to get into just pay for parking, lots of woodland to explore, Beautiful colours on the trees when I visited in October, peaceful, I did keep my dog on a lead because there was a few squirrels running around.
D.
Lovely place to visit, lots to explore. £2.50 for the car park. There is a visitor centre and cafe on site. Beautiful spaces and areas to discover!
T. C.
Great Country Park. It was quite quiet when we went but the staff in the cafe were really friendly. Gave our dogs a nice treat. Beautiful gardens to walk around.
V. S.
Lovely walks around the park, great play park for the children and little coffee shop which is reasonably priced
T. L.
Can't fault the place, lots of places to walk and explore, pods, rivers, forest, wildlife, most places are disabled accessible and dog friendly, the cafe is reasonably priced and the staff there are amazing, must see if ur in the area.
S. J.
Visited for a day out with the kids. Great visitor centre with lovely clean facilities. The park was a massive hit with the kids of course. We had a walk around and it is a beautiful space.
p. d.
Great place for the kids plenty to do good parking slides, swings etc benches for food and there seem to be a few different walks also a pond with ducks.
N. T.
Lovely relaxing day out. Great walks and playground. Benches available for picnics but take some folding chairs as it gets busy there. Filed are for ball games and plenty of bbq’s going on. What amazed me was that there was a wheelchair accessible swing for disabled kids. Brilliant.
S. B.
Great park to bring the family. Play park for the little ones with a great slide, some great trails to follow, plenty of benches for picnics and a nice little cafe when you need a break.
P. M.
Beautiful walks by the river which were quit as all the children were on the extensive play are.
Great for a picnic.
ONLY CHARGE IS THE CAR PARK £3
S. P.
My Kids (6,5and 3) enjoyed the playground and seeing ducks on the lake we also noticed Mike's Donkeys were there with farm animals for the day. My kids loved petting the rabbits and seeing the other animals. Organised Chaos was also there with fun games and activities and gymnastics for the kids!
The park has loads of space and lots of benches, forestry and grassy fields from what I saw. Nice day out with the kids and Dog!
J. J.
Great play area for the kids. Lots of places to walk and explore on foot or by bike. Parking is available but not cheap. £3.50 for the day and no hourly charge and no change given. Would come here more often if it wasn't so expensive to park. Dog friendly.
V.
We only had an ice cream and coffee so my comments really can't be about the food. The cafe was well organised and looked clean and the menu had lots of options. The grounds and walks look great even in the rain. The playground has some wonderful equipment but as it was raining we didn't try it out. On a non rain day any time of the year I think the cafe and park would be a wonderful outing!
C. K.
A great park to visit with the family. There is a big play area and some great walks. There is also a cafe on site, prices are reasonable and they sell food, cakes and coffee. There are also toilets on site and parking is plentiful and doesn't break the bank, £3.50 all day. A must visit!
N. G.
Lovely spot for a short walk - especially with a dog. Explore the woodlands and boardwalk area, the oriental garden and the lake - which had several sets of ducklings swimming about on our most recent visit. Perfect for families too - there's a huge playarea with some seriously impressive equipment, as well as a huge adjacent area perfect for picnics. The parking ticket machines take cash and cards, which is handy. £3 all day.
A. W.
Brilliant for dog walking. We visit most days. Lovely coffee shop but lacking quality cakes. They used to have some lovely Vegan cakes but unfortunately not any more.
E. M.
Beautiful place to visit. Only area that is pram friendly is the oriental garden.
V. B.
Lovely Country Park to visit. Fab playground for the children. Lovely little coffee shop and nice walks around the parkland, visiting a lake , streams and the lovely Bryngarw House. Well worth a visit for a few hours out.
B. M.
Understated and out of fashion for the simple pleasures it provides. If you enjoy peace and quiet and the relaxation of strolling in the countryside this is what is on offer. There is a good playground for the kiddies and a nice cafe.
A. F. (. W.
Beautiful location, almost hidden, combining river, lake, beech grove and Japanese Gardens to stunning effect. The café has a good range of drinks, sandwiches and other snack items, plus top notch cakes. Tucked away at the edge of the park is the B-Leaf nursery and garden centre. The whole place is managed with a light touch by the Awen Cultural Trust.
P. N.
Superb facilities. Awesome staff.
Walking around the park was amazing, so much wildlife around.
The only let down is the cafe doesn't do any hot food, which is such a shame on a cold windy day as a bacon sandwich would have gone down a storm 🤪
L. D.
I love it here. Been coming since I was a little kid. The building looks great. I remember when it was an empty shell. The walks are peaceful. Park is amazing.
G. P.
Excellent location for getting the children out in the countryside. Our Granddaughter loves the play area; lots to do. Different easy walks. An OS map shows lots of linked routes that can extend your walks especially along the river. Great cafe too (can recommend the carrot cake)! Pay and display car park (you can pay by card).
Update: August 2022. I believe the cafe is now card payment only.
J. N.
Beautifully maintained and flourishing with nature at every turn.
E. D.
One of my favourite places to be. Spent my childhood wandering the woods and playing on the big slide. The cafe is very nice and reasonably priced!
T. H.
Easy to find, big car park. We had a wonderful walking adventure with plenty to spot on our walk. We found totems, wood carvings, a jungle, babbling brooks, "waterfalls", rivers, bridges and a pretty awesome park. The children ages were 2, 4, 6 ,6 and 14 all thouroughly enjoyed. This park has something for everyone. Plenty of places to sit, plenty of beautiful trees to sit under to escape the sun. Clean toilets and a cafe, however we took a picnic and enjoyed it under a tree on some logs and picnic blanket. Cannot wait to go again as there was so many walks and routes to go and explore. Looking forward to our next adventure!!
E. A.
Lovely park with a few short walks. All day parking £3.50. Toilets and cafe at the car park. Could do with a few bins around the park as quite a lot of litter dropped which is a shame.
A. L.
Lovely place for walking and fab little park for children
K. M.
Beautiful well cared for ground with something for everyone, reasonable parking charges and good on site facilities. Can be enjoyed in all weather and with many visits too truly appreciate it all. Can't wait to spend another day here exploring some more of the beautiful old trees
G. B.
Beautiful grounds, woodland , benches, open space, picnic areas, pond with ducks , lovely big playground , lovely reasonable tea room, it's a shame the selection of ice creams not there anymore, only pre packed tubs and lollies, limited parking but not expensive . Highly Recommend.
x.
Nice place, many walks, would definitely recommend!
S. G.
Such a beautiful well kept park which is now own by the bridgend council.
Stunning walks by the river and Japanese Garden, for the fitter person behind Bryngawr House is steep wooden walks full of bluebells in March.
A lovely play area and picnic area.
There are toilets.
The cafe has amazing food, but finish cooking quiet early at 3pm I believe but worth a feast .
The Parking is very cheap and disable parking is free..
Park is dog friendly and clean of dog much when we went.. makes a change.
Toilets are well maintained .
All that's left is to visit this beautiful park and enjoy ..
J. H.
Beautiful place. Lovely for walking and seeing nature as there are plenty of woodland walks. There is also some lovely water areas for the dogs around by the boardwalk and river. The play area is lovely and large for the kids to run around. There is also plenty of picnic areas and even a BBQ spot. The only thing that was disappointing was the not being able to look around the house and the Oriental garden didn't have much there. Also be aware the website says parking is £2.50 but it's £3 now. We spent a few hours and enjoyed it here but it's rather bumpy for prams and disabled (expect for oriental garden).
C. H.
What a great little place. We went off the beaten track but loved it. A great park for families
G. C.
Lovely day out when the weather is good.
No entry fee just pay to park.
There are plenty of activities to keep the kids happy, there is a good sized play park with lots of space for picnics and dedicated bbq areas. Enjoy picturesque walks through the oriental style gardens and woodland areas. Feed the ducks and fish in the pond. There is also a plant nursery where you can purchase various flowers or plants. There are toilets and washrooms also on site and a cosy cafe which serves small meals, cakes, coffee & tea and ice cream for the kids.
M. F.
Absolutely lovely day out fab for walking with kids theres a nice sized play area, oriental garden, visitors centre and cafe, really enjoyed the day, a lot of people with dogs also
C. H.
Bryngarw has it all a nice quite relaxing solitary walk in the late afternoon/evening or you can spend a day here on the weekends or through school holidays. there are always events running. it would be nice to see more in the playground. The swings are for young children it would be nice to have a wider range. I would personally love to see the wooden playground that was situated near the cycle path down from the cafe brought back, I have fond child hood memories and it was great having two play areas. The park has something for everyone to be busy all day
R. E.
A palace of such beauty! Lovely day in the sun... Highly recommend.. the coffee shop is a little expensive if you have a few kiddies x3 sandwiches and X2 ice cream £22.. my fault for not packing a lunch bag!
Lovely play area.. amazing grounds.. a day can easily be lost her 😁
P. V.
Wow, didn't realize this place was here, plenty of room for the kids to run around, loads of walks and a brilliant play park, forgot to mention the reasonably priced kiosk for food, drink and Ice creams 👍👍👍
S. C.
Bryngarw is a fantastic country park! It is perfect for all individuals, with walks and facilities to suit everyone!
It is a safe and secure space for dogs to run free, Peggy absolutely loves it!
C.
Beautiful day, weather kept at bay enough to enjoy some river walking, stone skimming, tree climbing, exploring the beautiful park and play area. Lovely to see the cafe area has been taken over and a welcome drink and ice creams purchased. Always a winner here for our gang.
R. W.
Large gardens with numerous walking routes through it and neighboring forestry. Car parking charges apply, but Blue Badge holders are exempt. If you arrive on foot or by bike there are no charges. Public toilets and a playground with BBQ sites are free to use. The visitor centre has recently undergone renovation and hosts displays about the nature in the area. There is a learning centre which provides educational events throughout the year and a cafe was has a good selection of drinks and snacks.
S. m.
Always a calm and peaceful experience walking in the extensive grounds. An autumn visit is a must for the myriad of colours. Definitely one of my favourite places for a mind clearing walk.
B. A.
Ideal place to park to then cycle up the traffic free route to Blaengarw. Good walks within the park and a cafe.
L. H. D.
113 acres of stunning award-winning wood and parkland. Took 10 minutes out en route home from a meeting and had a great walk over the wetlands and along the river bank. We'll worth it and less than 10 minutes off the M4 motorway.
C. D.
Always a pleasure to walk and visit the playground with my son a good selection of trees
C. B.
An absolute gem of a place for the kids and dogs! A choice of walks, gorgeous oriental gardens, a lovely cafe and the kids park is fab. Well worth the £3 parking.
D. M.
Another fantastic country park. Very nice walks through the woods. My only complaint is that cafe staff are too keen to shut. 45 mins before closing time they are stacking chairs and clearing everything away. Apart from that it's a great place. Bring a picnic is my advice.
P. D.
Small park, tucked away under the trees. You can actually walk miles up the Garw Valley. You might need your OS map/app to find your way. Quiet and picturesque beside the Garw river. Good to see some parks being maintained.
C. W.
Lovely park for families. Dogs are welcome too. A nice cafe there and parking £3 all day. Worth a visit.
H. J.
Great for dog walking, head north on the Western boundary, then at the bottom of Llangeinor follow the old railway back. A couple of laps of the grounds and you've done three miles. Do it again and you'll have a happy spaniel, or just stick her in the car and go home 😀
T. M.
Good place to visit with little ones. £3.5 to park for the day, with a large play park, a cafe and multiple small walks through the grounds/woods.
L.
Very good place to explore and enjoy. There are several sections in the site, I like wet woodland boardwalk.
D. 1.
Local to me. Car park is paying carpark, good cafe which serves the usual fair. Lovely grounds to walk around.
N. M.
beautiful place to visit. lovely if you like walks with the family. only downfall was people ruining the wooden gazebo in the oriental garden by drawing obscene tho vs on it.
B. L.
Amazing park. So cool to see a park catering to people with disabilities but also the huge slide is super cool
G. H.
We love Bryngarw Country Park. £3 parking all day and so much to explore! A great place to get some fresh air and surround yourself in nature. P.S The cafe there is always worth a visit!
A. P.
Really nice wander through the grounds of the park, while my son played on the ample playground equipment near the car park. Lots of interesting paths and carvings.
N. T.
Had a lovely walk today. Spotted a dipper on the rocks in the river and ate some delicious carrot cake. I even caught a bit of sun. Lush day.
d. d.
As always a great day out! Decent toilet facilities. Nice cafe serving drinks, food and ice cream. Ducks to feed. A great park and field for kicking a ball around. Parking ojust £3.50. Lovely walks, we even found wild raspberries!
J. H.
Beautiful place to visit, lovely walks; long and short. There is a lovely playground for the children to burn off steam, even an outside gym.
H. G.
Lovely place to visit ,with friendly staff and good facilities. some paths are overgrown but passable
A. S.
What a lovely park to take your children And dog for a walk! It has woody parts, open spaces, a stream and even an Oriental garden. All 4 of us including our dog, enjoyed it very much!
H. P.
Enjoyed the colour of autumn and walks. Felt it was abit tired and needed a little love and care.
D. P.
Nice walks and gardens. Have to pay for parking but that probably goes towards upkeep.
Will be revisiting in summer when dryer
S. T.
Scenic and well thought out walks with a nice mix of gardens and wild areas. The cafe served a nice range drinks and ice cream, perfect after the walk. The staff & rangers were very friends and informative.
s. d.
Lovely gardens and walks, took us about 1.5 hrs to follow all the footpaths shown on the map. Great play area for kids. Toilets and cafe available, only downside was I thought the car park was a little overpriced for the length of time we stayed. Maybe an cheaper option for paying an hour or two would be useful.
S. L.
Something for everyone to enjoy- a huge playground, a beautiful bluebell wood, gorgeous walks for all abilities (even my 2-year old managed one of the shorter routes), ponds to peer into and a picturesque river. Our day out with 3 generations of our family was perfect and everyone had a great time
N. S.
Beautiful place for walks 😍 great cycling path going across it.
G. H.
Colours of Autumn are spectacular and the toilet facilities are open, still £3 to park though
m. s.
Like going here for some peace and quiet , beautiful place walk my dog around and also like taking photos of the birds and squirrels, won a photo competition with the snow scene photo below 😃

Lovely walks, visitor centre has a cafe and toilets. Car park is 2.50 for all day Thank you.
S. M. C.
Lovely walks. Some pram friendly others not. Well signposted and great parking
B. L.
There is a big playground, nice cafe, a few different woodland walks, a duck pond and a Japanese style garden area. Great place for a family visit! £2.50 for parking.
G. H.
Nice walk but probably needs a bit of attention. No signs to say one of the walks was closed which wasted some of our time.
J. L.
Good walk place relaxing to visit.got car park and cafe there too .
E. J.
Beautiful place to go for a walk, clean accessible toilets. Lots of birds!
K. P.
Lovely place disappointed you have to pay for a parking ticket all day £3.50 a bit steep to walk the dog for an hour
B. W.
Lovely park, nice walks to be had here and kids playground.
E. M.
Love this place. Nice garden area to walk and see the Ducks and Manor house. And a god size playarea with the best slide ever.
J. M.
Beautiful park with lush scenery and many routes to take if you're into walking like myself and family. We sat by the pond to feed the ducks and had a cup of tea/coffee from the cafe which was lovely. The playground for the kids is also great fun for them. It was £3 to park here all day (Saturday) and not too busy considering it wasn't a bad day weather wise. I'll come back soon that's for sure.
K. P.
Such an unusual and tucked away little gem. Lovely walks with dogs and grandkids.
R. T.
Love this place in all seasons and have experienced them all during the Covid lockdowns with it being 15 minutes walk away from home.
A. O.
A really beautiful location with lots of woodland walks. Fabulous scenery and lots to explore.
R. G.
Great place family and disabled friendly. The visitor centre is great for kids and lovely cafe. Top notch. Wheelchair friendly, adapted play equipment and fully wheelchair accessible bathroom with hoist, changing table etc. Really impressed. 👍
B. G.
Pretty sure I’ve reviewed this place before Google, but why not....
Great place to spend a couple of hours. Great natural parkland which offers a good circular riverside walk and plenty of little offshoots. Decent cafe and a huge kids playground which is being expanded. Only one car park ticket machine so prepare for a queue on busy days, but at least it takes card now. £3 flat rate for the whole day (as of 22/5/21)
r. o.
Brilliant Park for the kids, and some great features whilst walking around the grounds
A. C.
Lovely park to walk and we like walking our dog there he enjoys his walk to and a dip in the river.only complaint is the ponds look like they need a clean and there could be a few more dog bins around the park
S. V.
Lovely park so much to do for just £3 to park all day very clean and friendly staff
R. G.
Nice place to take children and explore down by the river and in the woods.
L.
Beautiful park, huge trees, lots of birds, love the river meandering through this lovely park.
Very quiet. Nice coffee, tea, cake place. Only £3 parking. There is a pond with seats around it. Japanese garden. And a great play area for kids.
J. T.
Lots of parking £3 for the day.
There's toilets and a cafe right next to parking. I think they only take card?
A excellent park for kids & big adults :)
A duck pond, lovely wooded walk with sculptures. & other places to explore
Plenty to do and a cheap day out.
R. M.
Great kids place for weekends. Good for nature walk.
j. r.
A very special place. Fascinating and safe for children of all ages. So much to do and entertain them. No entrance fee just a reasonable car park ticket. Drinks and.snacks from the friendly ladies kept us going. Our 2 grandchildren were enrapt for hours - either on the playground or learning about woodlice and other wildlife Excellent.
r. g.
Brilliant. Lovely walks.
Play areas for the kids and nice walk down the river ......
s. d.
Fun place had a lovely day kids absolutely loved the slides

Beautiful place, lovely and relaxing.
Also just started doing some outdoor cinema showings which was really easy to get to, parking is great and no problems.
Can't wait for the next visit
N. C.
Great place to go for a walk and a picnic.
A. S.
Big playground for children of all ages. Picnic tables. Beautiful path all around the park through the woods, fields, Oriental garden with bridges and ponds, along the river. Park is clean. Big parking. After 5 pm parking is free. Little coffee shop offers hot and cold drinks and snacks.
R. G. (.
It is definitely a fun place to go on a walk or just go and have fun but you can get easily lost
D. E.
Lovely place to go for a walk. cafe and toilets on site, childrens play area and parking is cheap aswell.
C. K.
It was our first time here and didn't really know what to expect.
The parking was reasonable at £3 flat fee for the day, cash or card accepted.
The park was well equipped and plenty of space for the children to run around.
We walked through the wood, along the river and had a lovely time exploring the grounds.
Lost of dog there, I should have taken mine!
Will definitely be returning.
A. P.
A lovely place for a walk and day out any time of the year. Beautiful Autumn colours at the moment.
C. M.
Some nice river and woodland walks and looks like a great place for kids. We went mainly to get something to eat from the cafe (good sandwiches and cake) but otherwise would have explored the local countryside instead.
P. D.
Brilliant place, took our dog for a walk and he absolutely loved it.
T. L.
My niece had her wedding there what a beautiful place food was outstanding also the staff 👌
a. d.
This park has excellent childrens play area, coffee shop a bit pricey, £3.50 to park all day, sitting on a bench with 3 month old granddaughter and a very ignorant man lit a portable BBQ and all smoke billowing over us to cook a few sausages, not enjoyable.
W. M.
Beautiful country park with magnificent walks. Nicely laid out. Magical for kids, magnificent for dog walkers. Right on my doorstep too.
K. A.
Lovely place. Loads of tables for picnics and the kids love the park
A. S.
Love coming here. Not too far from home.lovely coffee shop and good toilet facilities. Great car park. Great play area for children
S. C.
Nice for a walk. Park isn't really designed for the older kids. A few years ago my kids would've been happy playing but this time they were just not interested. Cafe is ok but the queuing system is terrible. We had to manoeuvre around tables which, luckily nobody were sat at, and then block an entrance. There should at least be a clear sign outside to tell people to use the other entrance which is hidden around the back.
It is still a nice place to visit though and have no doubt we will visit again even without the kids
**Update** Went again today. Pay and display was frustrating. Firstly, there is only one machine. We had to park at the far end of the car park, walk to the visitor centre, fight with the machine which wasn't working properly then walk all the way back to the car and then back again so we could set off on our walk.
The trail is still nice to walk through but there us a lot of room for some enhancement.
Toilet facilities were clean
L. c.
Beautiful park for the children and very pretty walks including ponds
J.
Beautiful in the Autumn,in fact beautiful during every season.
T.
Great park and really good nature walks
M. H.
It was ok. Nice surroundings, but not as big as I was expecting. Not so good for prams on alot of the paths. Good to kill an hr or two, great play park for the kids.
M. E.
A beautiful place in the autumn
R. H.
Great Park for an hours roaming, but bring your bikes and you get spend 3 hours heading up the Garw Valley.
J. L.
Great countryside walks and lots of open spaces...lovelly well kept paths and nice well maintained lawn in front of the house
J. B.
Such a lovely place to visit that's all you pay for is parking and the whole family can stay there all day. The park is fantastic and the trails are beautiful to walk through. The cafe sells cakes, lollies and refreshments.
D. G.
A lovely place for a walk with the dogs and kids. Plenty of walking routes which range from smooth tarmac paths to muddy/rocky tracks. There are also open areas in which you can relax and appreciate the beautiful surroundings along with various garden areas and places to sit down and enjoy including ponds. The play area has a great selection of equipment for children and adults alike some of which are for those with ability issues. They have a wheelchair swing and merry-go-round which is also accessible. There is a cafe on site near the parking area which only does take out at the moment but I have eaten in there previously and the food was delicious. The toilets are always clean and in a good state which is a surprise since a lot of places like this the facilities tend to get vandalised. There is a large parking area which you do have to pay a small fee to use, not sure how much off the top of my head, but we pay for an annual pass which is great value for money, as we use the park weekly.
G. M.
Nice park for walking. But very disappointed with the children's swing park Too many dogs. Park should be fenced off NO DOGS ALLOWED. Even if dogs are on leads owners still use the long leads dogs should be on short leads at all times. Our grand daughter was attack by a dog last year. We were an ice cream outside the cafe in bryngarw what a nightmare here comes a dog off lead. We just had to leave Shame.
L. P.
Great walks and very colourful Autumn.
D.
Set in lovely wooded surroundings this park has lots to offer. It cost £3 to park all day and there are toilets, cafe and children's play area on site. I went with a friend to recce a 2.5 mile walk around the park. Although quite muddy from the recent heavy rain, this was a very pretty walk through woodland following the river. There are plenty of different walk options for all ages and abilities or you could just saunter around the Japenese style gardens. Dotted around were large oriental wooden sculptures. Sadly many of these were damaged and rotting and some of the wooden boardwalk were also rotten or entirely missing. There were signs that some had been replaced but there was definitely an air of neglect about the place. Our return route took us past a charming lake alive with ducks a dabbling. We were very impressed with the cafe, first sampling their latte and then ordering a sandwich lunch. These were delicious with a choice of wholemeal bread and chock full of tasty filling, accompanied with crisps and a fresh and fruity side salad. Reasonably priced too. Would definitely visit again and explore some more.
K. D.
Lovely place to visit on a dry sunny day...
Lots to explore and a super park for the children to play...
Entry is free but parking is charged.
A. G.
Big slides for the kids; nice walk for the parents.
N. H.
Lovely setting but feels a little unloved and not maximising its potential
s. l.
Brilliant to let the kids run wild, oriental garden is lovely, and great park for the kids it also include a swing for disabled with wheelchair access. Walk, sit, picnic, includes slabs in the park allowing you to have your own bbq.
P. S.
Beautiful beautiful park we are so lucky to have these places to walk around and then have coffee in cafe I felt so relaxed after my visit
H. F.
A nice, quiet country park with trails, a children's play area and a cafe. Modest parking charge which is used to fund the park upkeep.
S. C.
Fabulous place, so much to do - lovely playground, lots of picnic areas, a range of accessible & interesting walks, lots of wildlife & gorgeous ice cream in the friendly & clean cafe! Everything is well maintained, safe & looked after. My children and I had a wonderful day out & all for £3 for car parking - couldn't ask for better!
B. B.
£3.50 parking all day. Excellent play area for kids and plenty of benches to have a picnic
J. J.
Has nice cafe where you can grab some coffee and cake. Be mindful walk paths are muddy - not suitable to go with pram.
J. G.
Absolutely lovely here. The cafe was very busy and the staff were still super friendly, worked hard and the food was amazing. Lovely park, lots of different areas with different themes. Lovely play ground for the kids. Could prob spend a day there if u wanted to. Nice gem of a place c
Z. E.
One of my favourite local parks, plenty of green space. Lovely park and duck pond too
J. K.
Only visited the park with my two kids and they loved it! Big slides and plenty and things to climb and swing on. Definitely worth the visit, a bit mucky but it is in a country park so dress the kids accordingly
C. D.
Nice place to have a walk and a good cafe
A. G. U.
Wonderful place to visit for adults, children, pets. Loads of natural walks. It is beautiful and tranquil. Spacious children's play area. No entry fees, modest parking charges. A Cafe, a river, a pond with ducks; wildlife. I think that they are a hard working and generous organisation. Thank you so much.
C. B.
Always love walking round here, but parking is now £2.50 no matter how long you stay. With a 3 yr old and newborn we only really last up to an hour, so would rather be able to pay a lower amount for a shorter stay. Otherwise, the grounds are well kept and its a lovely day out rain or shine, just bring your wellies if it rains 👌
P. S.
Park is lovely. But staff in the cafe are rude and don't follow any covid safety precautions. None of the staff were wearing masks, apart from one lady making coffee but she had it under her chin. So technically not wearing a mask at all. The young girl who served us with two drinks and ice cream basically slammed them down on the counter and continued to serve the next victim.
Go to the park but don't go in the cafe. Rude and extremely unsafe.
I. B.
What a great place to spend your day! Whether you visit with your family, children or as a couple, there is so much to do here. For only £3 (parking) we had a good walk around the woods, children played in the park, fed the ducks and had a lovely picnic. Very clean. Would def recommend for a day out.
R. M.
My local walk and the caffe makes a good cup of tea by lovely staff
C. C.
Fabulous place to get married
Beautiful walks
B. R.
A heavenly journey through a spectacular forest, with a breathtaking river with steps creating an illusion of waterfalls. Recommend a visit to this location nestled in what feels like Japan.
A. L.
Beautiful country park in a great location, has so much natural beauty and easy walks alongside the river. There is a really nice cafe with friendly staff, a good sized car park which you have to pay for £3 for a few hours. A great park for the children with a picnic area.
The only down points is the cleanliness of the toilet facilities, they leave a lot to be desired, often no soap for washing your hands, the toilet cubicles often have no paper, and aren't very clean. It leaves a bad impression on a very lovely place, to me toilet facilities are very important, so the council should get onto this and improve things. It's not a difficult thing to tackle surely?
But that aside a real hidden treasure, it's a pleasure to visit.
R. L. (.
Easily accessible country park, cafe and clean facilities. Although there are Wheelchair compatible walkways some are quite steep so additional assistance will be required.. For the more able bodied, the "off piste" routes can get a bit boggy plenty of parking space, with a small charge (currently £2) cafe sells sweets, multiple flavours of ice cream and hot and cold snacks.
K. H.
On my doorstep. Lots of improvements being done. Great for families. Can get very busy on weekends due to not many places to visit because of lockdown. Well worth a visit. Cafe sells teas, coffees and cakes.
J. L.
Great day out. Enjoyable walks and brilliant kids play area.
D. T.
Cheap to park, new cafe facilities. Some great walks though the park or alongside the river . Plenty for the kids to do and get some mud on their shoes.
S. B.
Lovely place to walk. Playground is good for the kids. Cafe is clean and staff friendly. Would like more food options but that's being picky.
Why the park let's itself down is the number of dog poo bags hanging from branches. It's gross. Whilst I understand it's not the fault of the park people should be able to carry their dog excrement to the nearest bin.
C. R.
Brilliant place. Summertime outdoor theatre is fantastic
C. H.
Lovely afternoon out for the family. The kid's play park is fabulous, there's plenty of space for a BBQ, and lots of short walks to take in the beautiful surroundings.
M. B.
Nice little garden to wonder around with notice boards around explaining areas of the garden, cafe, paid parking, and garden centre for plants.
C. H.
Lovely place to walk and relax... Nice coffee shop with a selection of food and drinks, both hot and cold.
The wetlands have been improved with more hand rails around the paths too.
S. W.
Lovely park always with something new to explore.
A.
Great place to play and explore. Woods are great fun and play area has something for all ages. Lots of picnic tables. Nice wood carvings. Pond dipping sessions are great.
P. P.
Great looking park but was crowded on our visit so with covid19 conditions as they are we gave it a miss. We rode 8 miles on the cycle route that leads to Blaengarw.
Good route for l family cycling but was a bit overgrown in places on our visit. Definitely going to return to explore a bit more.
M. B.
Lovley walk with lot's of wood sculptures dotted around the place, fantastic park with wheelchair access swings. The river is beautiful with some small cascading falls
J. C.
Despite it being Winter & the grounds dormant it is still a magical place. I played there as a child some 70 years ago so it holds a special place in my heart.
M. H.
Nice walk, acorns were dropping off the trees like rain, squirrels must have been laughing. Dragonflies around the Asian garden were amazing. Coffee and cake finished the afternoon off perfectly
P. A. J.
1st time here looks great a nice walk around could have spent more time here but now we can go back
v. w.
I'd forgotten what a stunning place this is. The park is just fabulous for the kids complete with bbq area if you feel so inclined. The house and grounds looked perfect for the wedding taking place and our kids loved the oriental garden and walk along the babbling river. Cafe is a bit pricey (£16 for 4 ice creams and 2 Pepsi's) but the ice cream was bloody lovely. It's as cheap as you want it to be really. Great day out for all!
T. B.
Nice Park, clean and tidy. Shame the cafe closes at 3.30pm on Sundays as they're cleaning not at 4.30pm like the rest of the park. They will do takeaway but after a long walk, a sit down inside would be handy.
P. T.
This is a lovely park to take the children's or for a picnic. There are plenty of tables and benches to either picnic or just sit and relax. There are swings and slides to suit the very young and older children's. There is also a lovely garden centre within the grounds with a huge variety of plants for potting and hanging baskets with many of the flowers in Bloom. There is also a cafe where you can have a coffee or bite to eat. The park is open from 10am to 17.30pm. The cafe stops serving food at 3pm and only serves coffees or cold drinks until 4.30pm when it closes. The car park is £2.50 all day and there are disabled spaces and there is no charge if you have a blue badge. Well worth a visit.
L. G.
There is not enough disabled parking and swings. Lovely views and walks though.
B. S.
Lovely place for all the family. The park is awesome to keep young ones entertained. Some lovely walks & little trails to follow. Can be quite busy on warmer days.
m. “. g. l.
We like this! quiet country walks, places to stop for rest/packed lunch if you choose
, on site Cafe coffee shop, great if you like the wildlife.
L. W.
Lovely park with loads of walk options and really big kids play area. Great little cafe with a good choice of snacks and hot drinks
T. O.
Nice little spot for families to have fun in. Huge playground, loads of little paths to explore if you fancy a bit of walk in a big enough garden. The place has car park (pay and display), toilets and loads of benches around!
M.
Park is pretty nice, there's not alot of information on which way to walk so you end up making it up as you go along (which isn't that bad)
There is a nice park which the kids love. Plenty of different things to play on for them.
Toilets are quite dirty and smelly, even being near outside them you can smell them.
Overall, a pretty decent park.
D. R.
Lovely peaceful woodland walk. Great for families with children and dog walking. Very much looking forward to my next visit. Loved it.
R. H.
It's on my doorstep and it's free..simply loveleh part of Wales.
k. j.
Great place to bring your kids beautiful walks through woodlands fantastic play area for the children which included a swing for the disabled. The only downside for me was that you could take your dogs but there were no pooh bins so you had to carry it until you got back to the cafe
H. V.
Bryngarw Park is a great place to visit for a family outing or a relaxing walk through the wilderness. There are exercise facilities, a play park for young children and also many acres of wilderness. Would recommend to anyone thinking of going for a walk nearby.
P. P.
Amazing walks. Brilliant for mental health wellbeing put everything at ease.
Paths are well maintained prices for snacks are not overpriced and happy staff.
I noticed one male staff member today helping out a female staff member who wasn't up to speed with the paper recipe rolls how they went into the machine.
He explained with respect and maturity.
Excellent skills in a young man. 10/10 to him.
Would I go back.... without a second thought, definitely.
A. K. (.
In the better weather this is a nice place to visit. Lots of space to walk about, kick a ball about, woods, park, coffee shop, toilets and lots more. Currently working on clearing an area for some exciting changes coming soon. Will update again when I know more.
H. G.
Some nice walks on meandering paths
R. J.
Very Beautiful and welll kept setting. Perfect for a walk around the forested area or the large playground is available for the kids.
Parking is quite limited.
J. E.
A beautiful place. Diverse landscapes, rambling river with great access for doggy swimming. Cute little cafe with well presented food. Bryn Garw House in grounds is very evoking, Just one of the many atmospheric places in Wales to spend quality outside time .
M. S.
bryngarw park is a great place to visit the walks are amazing. the food is good but the coffee shop isn't aloud to open evenings in the summer I think this is a big mistake by the council the busy times could be extended to 7- 8 pm in the summer it is busy with people who have finished work. and have come out for a stroll around with the dog's or by themselves.
s. w.
Lovely place for a walk loads for the family to do ,:-)
G. R.
Children's park is still closed due to covid-19, the car park is open and pay and display is CARD payment only.
The walks around the park are open and very beautiful this time of year.
Toilets are open with soap and handsantizer available. Coffee shop is open for takeaway.
M. B.
Kids loved it play area was great
G. E.
Great place for a relaxing walk with or without dogs.
W. R.
There are walks and A playground here for the kids, for the adults there are the walks, garden centre and a cafe which is all good on the top half. When you get to the oriental garden you will see A gazebo which you should avoid with the kids because it is covered in graffiti with obbsene images and words. Overall a good day out bar for the oriental garden.
C. H.
A pleasing place for a walk or a relaxing day in the country. Miles of paths and varying landscapes from wildflower meadows, through formal garden and oriental garden, to woodland and riverbank environment. There’s also a big playground and picnic area
D. W.
Beautiful park. Paths not wheelchair accessible in parts but still worth a visit. The wooden raised walkway's are lovely through the marshland area but not not good for limited mobility
M. E.
Great place for children to enjoy fresh air and the freedom to roam. Nice little park and some good walks. £3 car parking all day, but a bit expensive for a short visit.
R. C.
A gorgeous place. Plenty for the children to do and a picturesque path through the woodlands, with a beautiful Oriental garden. You pay for parking and that's it. Pack a picnic and go! Can't recommend it enough.
F. B.
This always makes a great place to visit and meet up with friends. On this occasion we had tea and toilets before a coach guided tour of the Garw Valley. Thank you Mike Davies for a very interesting commentary with plenty of laughs along the way.
C. T.
Very quiet today. Paths a bit muddy but it had been raining all morning.
R. H.
Lovely, tranquil walk through woodland and gardens, beautiful surroundings, and a little haven away from the hustle & bustle.
Nestled just outside Bridgend it's a perfect place to shake off the cares
I. D.
Today was our first visit to Bryngarw park but definitely won't be our last. The grandchildren loved the walks enjoyed an ice cream then finished off in the play area. Can't wait for the big slide to be fixed
r. j.
Lovely place for a cycle/walk.
R. F.
Nice place to walk around car park was £3 a day but no half day or hour prices
j. v.
Beautiful park. However upsetting to see so much litter disregarded. Crisp packets, plastic bottles ect.... why can't people be more respectful. 😒
J. P.
A place for the children to explore and enjoy themselves.
C. M.
Great place for a good walk for all the family playground park for the kids and cafe take out on site with very friendly staff would go again
A. S.
Beautiful walks, ponds, river, gardens and woods. Great place to take the children with plenty of play areas. Dog friendly and a nice cafe ( dogs outside only).
C. C.
Lots of walks through the gardens, woodlands and marshlands. The paths are well generally maintained and the boardwalks are mostly in good nick.
There is also a large play park, but we saved visiting that for another time.
D. “. B.
Bryngarw is a lovely hidden gem. Full of nature and wildlife for young explorers to occupy their minds.
With its picturesque scenery and the vast amount of open space, Bryngarw is an ideal location to relax.
s. s.
Lovely place to rewind, play area for the kids to burn off energy and fantastic cafe for the adults, have been regularly for the last few years and will continue to do so with or the children
P. T.
Great natural woodland coupled with some man made additions I.e. oriental garden and boardwalk feature. Most of the time here can be spent in the shade, so if it's hot outside (27C) a good place to cool off, with a paddle in the river Garw an option for the adventurous. Just be aware that the parking fee within the park is £2.50 and if you indulge in a two scoop ice cream tub it's going to cost £8.30 for two of you (ouch!) Still the ice cream is heavenly (Sidoli's) so I shouldn't moan.
C. B.
We always go here with the family, beautiful surroundings. Very clean. The natural wildlife is pleasant to see. The cafe is clean and reasonably priced. Lovely ice cream!
C. C.
Haven't been here for a while, nice to see the park still well used as lots of people and children using it. The park though still lovely to walk and play has suffered with lockdown as has lots off other places. I'm sure it will bounce back to what I rememberedm
R. S.
Lovely park and walks here, cafe is expensive but worth a visit. Highly recommend having a picnic and enjoy the area. Car park is all day parking so make the most of it.
S. R.
Nice little walk through the woods. Nice to see all the Bluebells and wooden carvings.
M. B.
Lovely ,peaceful place, family, child friendly.,
A. J.
Well laid out and clean. Could do with more rubbish bins around the park, but all in all, a lovely few hours out with play parks for the kids.
H. H.
Parking is £3 until 5pm. Toilets were open. Great little walks. Wear some walking shoes or wellies if its wet.
L. J.
Great walks for kids and adults. A lovey park and grounds that are well maintained.
D. L.
Great walk with lovely views due to the change in season, was a bit damp but nice to get some fresh air, always worth a walk especially if you have a dog
E. S.
Wonderful place for a day out shame about the barbecues
T. W.
Lovely afternoon walking the river path, watching the ducks perform on pond, finishing our visit at spacious children's adventure Park. Will definitely be back.
i. j.
Great for the family, able to push a pram around. 4 star because of parking charges and toilets smelling and not very clean.
E. W.
The park is beautiful. However the cafe leaves a lot to be desired. Every time I've visited they don't have everything on their menu, and you have to wait a long time if there's more than a few people.
E. W.
There is a flat rate parking fee that applies 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. It is £2.50 regardless of what time you arrive.
The boom arm at the entrance to the parking lot is locked shut out of those hours.
The park has a cafe and toilet facilities as well as many paths that are both buggy and wheelchair friendly. It is well maintained and there are always improvements going on.
There is a stately house which is used for weddings and other functions but l have never been in there as my reason for visiting is always the beautiful grounds.
UPDATE
There is now a garden centre at the back of the house. They work with young adults with learning disabilities and sell the plants.
It's a great way to support their work.
G. P.
Absolutely beautiful.we have een coming here for years. I have taken photos of the beautiful scenery with the colours changing each season it is alittle gem that not many people know about it.
P. C.
A nice place to go for a walk, see the ducks and get some fresh air.
£2.50 to park the car.
Enjoyed a coffee in the tea/coffee shop with lovely friendly staff.
What's not to like!
H. L.
I love this place and it finally seems to be getting some support again after years of council cuts. Well done to the rangers there. Also went to the cafe and it was lovely. Great ice cream flavours.
W. G.
We love this park, it's great for all age groups. The cafe is fine, the kids love the ice cream! Great walks and good for different abilities.
M. J.
Very good day out. Lots to see and do. Only downside is the grumpy staff in the cafe. They're not children oriented at all. If you're going to visit I'd highly recommend it but take your own food
m. o. d.
Love wandering around and exploring. Would be nice if there were some dairy-free options added to the cafe.
L. R.
Lovely quiet place for walking around listening to the sounds of nature. Play area for kids to burn off excess energy, really lovely staff in the centre and the cafe overall fabulous fair play
P. D.
Very nice park in summer, can be rather muddy in winter. Sad to say it's looking rather run down and not as pleasant as it was when it opened. If you're lucky you may see kingfishers and dippers by the river.
F. H.
Parking at this place is £3.50 all day, nice place for walking.
m. b.
Beautiful place. Kids love park, Great for dogs too. Cafe can get very busy at times quite a wait for icecream
P. E.
Very good and very quiet. Also has lots of tadpoles that you can watch.
L. V.
I really enjoyed the fun experience. Got lost a few times. But in conclusion I would like to come back again.
You could make it a bit more colourful and adventurous fo the children. You could make the signs a lot clearer to understand. Thanks 😊
V. T.
Good place to spend a few hrs out with the kids. Nice park, picnic areas and refreshments available in the cafe. Ample car parking.
P. H.
Nice place to go for a walk on a sunny day, with a park for the kids, free entry and only paying for parking. There's a cafe on site serving food and refreshments, Bryngarw House and access to the B Leaf garden centre.
D. T.
Lovely place nice walks, views and atmosphere. There is also a nice park for kids
R. L.
Good at any time of the year, especially love Autumn though
C. B.
Excellent time on the reindeer hunt! Perfect activity for 2-10year olds. Not too long (30-40mins) and not too far for little ones to walk. The children loved collecting the stickers, solving the clues and feeding the reindeers before writing their letters to Father Christmas. Will definitely be back next year. Thank you to the rangers and Awen staff, you made two little girls very happy and exited for Christmas.
A. L. I.
So clean and well maintained, kids love the park and the nature walks are beautiful, very snug little cafe and love the gardens
W. K.

M. S.
Best £3:50 you can spend! Or get a season ticket for £35. Been coming here since it opened!
D. “. C.
Could do a lot more as a venue. Seems to be much less you can explore nowadays. Needs to make it's park properly disabled friendly to get a 5 star.
C. B.
Came here for the Easter egg hunt with my small grandson. What a beautiful park. The event was well run and thoroughly enjoyable.
