B. G.A monument in memory of an explosion which happened at the nearby Parc Slip Colliery in 1892 which sadly claimed the lives of 112 men and boys.
The pit ultimately closed in 1904. The land was given over to public use in the early 1980s. Parc Slip Nature Reserve is now a very quiet and secluded place; great for quiet walks through the countryside.
D. N.A nice place to visit and the memorial is a nice walk from the car park at the visitors centre (Google Ref 51.545402, -3.614271).
A recent facelift of the memorial sees a sculpture of a miner and his pit pony.
