Reviews of Castle Park
b. l.
It's a very beautiful park at Bristol City center. Sometimes on weekend, there are festivals... Summer is a good point to refresh youself.
I've been there several times and enjoy it a lot!
A. D.
Quite spacious. Great for picnics, hangout, walking your dogs. There is a castle in the middle, hence the name. Near a river, so you could get a refreshing view of.. water. Very crowded on weekends. Also during lunch hours. People buy takeaway food and eat there.
C. W.
Castle Park is a lovely space to have picnic, sit with some beers/hot drinks and chat to a new/old friend. Close to shops an restaurants so if you just want the perfect walk before/after you eat, great idea here!
G. N.
Very scenic, the grounds are good for a walk in the park and the flower gardens at St. Stephen are very soulful
M. V. C.
It's a great place to go with friends for some drinks or alone to enjoy a relaxing time with a book and a coffe. And it looks beautiful in any season.
F. B.
This place has ruins of a church and offers absolutely incredible views of the city.
A. G.
I went to this park with the wife and kids. We loved it there and enjoyed our time.
I would recommend everyone to visit this place at least once in their life.
Our visit was on March of this year. We had a great picnic and the dogs enjoyed every little bit of it.
Its where I got my profile photo from!
S. G.
Spent a while sat in this park enjoying listening to the drum circle practice session and watching the world go by. A gem of a place in the city
S. T.
Lovely park , full of friendly folk,s
M. D.
If you love Archaeological sites, this is a nice place to visit. Also it is beautiful park with a water body around. This place is very close to Cobot Circus mall. Lot of place for sitting and chatting. Beautiful wind and greenery. Remains are Church are really interesting for people who like to see such old objects. Though it's closed and we can't go inside... Still from outside it's very amusing site. Also a old well is maintained there with a glass cover. So you can actually stand on top of the river and observe it below.
M. D.
Quick respite. Fresh air. Green lawns. Some squirrels. Was there a cherry blossom tree? Uncrowded. Though security may be an issue.
S. S.
Little gem in the heart if Bristol and a favorite place to be for a Sunday morning walk.
J. D.
Hot spring day 20c . Day off for shopping and a relaxed lunch.
K. L.
Great park to get away to in the center of town. Good running spot along the river too. Nice and peaceful in the early morning.
G.
Great size park and has an amazing atmosphere whenever you go. Great for a little bit of footie or just to chill
S. C.
The place was just outside my office. Its my favorite lunch spot, I visited here in different seasons and the park is just so happening. And all that goes to another level if you get a very sunny day on any weekend. it becomes a mad house, in fun way off course. Do check the pics in different seasons.
V. N.
Lovely walk in the park.
D. V.
One of my favourite parks with lovely view and lovely nature!! Love the solitary bee boxes and bird houses as well :) I just wish that we have a bigger area so that we can have even bigger park since it is quite small.
m. a.
Located almost in between the temple meads and coach station offers good place for sun bath ,relaxing time . For walk, run or cycle
K. L.
A very nice park in the city centre to chill out in the sun on an afternoon or early evening. Usually quite busy with good people watching. Bristol castle used to stand here which if you're into history is quite interesting, but read up on it beforehand, there are no guides here, just an info plaque here and there. In the middle(ish) stands an old church, bombed during the war and never renovated, looks nice with nature taking it back over. More green than as shown in my pictures
j. r.
Lovely little park. I walk my dog here often. It isn't quite large enough where I would consider off-leashing her, as it's close to some main roads.
The park is quite clean, there is a small garden and the old church is currently under construction.
There's a lovely food-stall with vegetarian and vegan options as well.
You can also catch the ferry from the park.
A. H.
Absolutely beautiful in the cherry blossom season.. Always green.. Good place to sit and relax..
M. A.
Very nice place. The people look cool very hipstery. They act even cooler doing coke and loons (good combo). All in all a very nice place ☺️
Edit: there was a cool banana aswell (attached picture)
M. E.
Really nice park in the centre, feels like a festival when the weather's good and people are out!
N. T.
Lovely walk right in the centre of our city. Lovely kept Carmen's. Cycle path and walking path
M. R.
Nice lovely place where you can relax in the nature. Good place to sit and relax on one of the many hills. Quite clean. Good place to relax and chill or go out or go for a picnic with friends.Peaceful and full of shop and restaurants. My loved took me there and I love seeing it Beautiful. Lovely walk through the trees with their informative labels. Lovely green space in the city....
J. S.
Was in an area on the very edge of the park, but even so, it's a nice scene, lots of shade and I even climbed a tree! Although I needed some help getting up there haha
c. h.
Loved this park. Beautiful to chill out...love the views along the river. Nice family space.
O. K.
Very beautiful tree with flowers blossom in spring time. Lovely Sunny day to sit there 👍
V. S.
Beautiful park especially in the beginning of spring when everything is blooming 🌸🌸🌸💓 5 stars even though I've seen a huge rat in there 😂🙊 You can see it in a picture I've uploaded 😭
K. B. (.
Nice little park to have your lunch or just escape the city hustle and bustle can be abit sketchy at night so would avoid and during the busy summer camp be abit of a party park I like to come here to clear my head.
L. R.
One of the best parks in Bristol. Regular events here including live music and festivals. Big green open spaces, public edible garden, church ruins, public bathrooms and gazebo. Entrances at all sides with a bridge across the river.
E. M.
Nice open space for a short walk. Ruins dotted around the park. Could do with a playground
M. M. T.
I used to work very close to the park and I would, often, come and have my lunch in the park! It was amazing having lunch there especially in the summer (not that anyone would want to sit and eat their lunch outside in the winter). Also I suppose it’s a good place to sit on the grass and read a book ect .
M. H.
Beautiful place. Close to local shopping quarter. Plenty of space for picnics in the summer. Surrounded by historic buildings and water. It's a lovely area for a picnic.
A. D.
If you want to take a break from your work schedule or just wandering around city then this is a nice place to sit and spend some time beside the beautiful river Avon
M. G.
A small recreational park. Perfect when the weather is good. Nice area with s lot of restaurants and cafés
S. Z.
Great location for your break, meet friends for picnic and stroll in the heart of the city center
J. H.
Lovely park for taking lunch or just a stroll, with excellent views of the river.
D. S.
Beautiful and peaceful at night
I. B.
I am upset kids park completely vanished ,I mean there were needles in the sandpits, definately liability but they could left the swings or slides~
A. B.
It's a nice place for a picnic, that's about it. Lots of drunks. I watched a crow bully a squirrel for like 20 minutes, so that was fun.
F. C.
Castle park is a good place to spend time. Near by avon river and amazing view. People spent time with family and friends. Historical place. There are names on the board to read and learn about history of the place.
Spend good time.
B. N.
Stunning place at night with great bars all around Or just chilling in the park
J. P.
Perfect place to stop for lunch if you work in town but does get quite busy. Can recommend the sausage van by the river if you haven't got sandwiches. If you like BMX or skateboarding there are a few good spots there as well. Garden by the ruins is a very nice place for a rest and stays fairly quiet.
S. M.
Good place to visit. Nearby you have a river and a nice view !!
B. M.
A great addition to the green space in bristol. Also the vaulted chambers Park cafe is great
P. C.
Lovely place to sit in peace amazing that its right in the middle of the town
O. S.
Great place to chill and soak into Bristol atmosphere by canal.
U. P.
The flower and River Avon view are really nice and relaxing. I am not sure what kind of flower it is (sakura?), yet truly beautiful.
R. B.
Took the doggo while staying in Bristol for the night. He seemed to like it. Great to see a healthy fox roaming the park.
G. R.
A lovely place to be early in the morning gets a bit lively later on in the day
Z. S.
Lush green park in the City Center. Everything’s nice except for some rubbish dumped on one side - close to the church and the bank office.
D. N.
We arrived in the dark but the surroundings were great. Will come back when the light is better.
H. K.
Unfortunately burned old catolique church, but the park around and the surroundings are great place for a walk.
D. B.
City park replacing old quarter of city after war damage
T. R.
Another beautiful place 😍..in beautiful city center .must visit , you will enjoy
S. S.
Always my go to place to relax in the city. Suns out funs out. Disappointing to see people leaving rubbish about but generally clean.
S.
Best summer place to chill under trees . Always take take away and relax under tree.
C. C.
Good place. Brought alive by bristol light festival. The pink enchantment.
P. B.
beautiful, precious to enjoy with family, friends in a healthy way
W. B.
A lovely park near the centre of town. Lots or grass to sit on and some tables and benches. Shame you can't go and see the bombed out church. There's a nice garden too.
j. n.
Found it a nice place to stop with children. Not much in the way of actual facilities for them, but they made their own fun running around and letting off steam. They were fascinated by the river too and spent a while watching that. We’re not locals, so we had to drum it into them about the cycle path being there.
R. C.
Lovely waterside park in the centre of Bristol. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sun in a nice green area only a moments walk from the main city. Also features a historic church building.
s. f.
Good place for walking
P. W.
Lovely green open space amid the bustle of central Bristol. A beautiful walk along the winding river.
M. I.
Beautiful park near the city centre. With a historic cathedral
M. K.
Overall quite tired, dirty and poorly laid out, however there is a few little jems to enjoy in this park. Some seating and wide low walls to sit on and enjoy lunch or a coffee. By the church there is a pretty area with gorgeous pants and trees. The walk along the river is also pretty and in addition there are some fantastic architecture to take in. But the hard standing areas and grass areas are dated and dis-jointed no flow to walk around and explore. The city is very close by, so it's a great option to get out of it for 5 mins.
L. H.
Lovely place to visit, 10/10. Often people bunning but if you're okay with that it's a lovely little park
G. K.
Castle Park is a staple in the Bristol diet. With overtones of lush grassy social areas and an exciting side of historical architecture the space invokes a hearty urban comfort. The art within the park, - both official and graffiti - is the zest of the experience. Some of the regulars may offer to medicate your ailments, but take note that better deals are from elsewhere.
I have taken a star due to the constant fencing that blocks off parts of the park but it's not like there isn't plenty of space left anyway.
B. K.
Nice central place to hang out and have lunch outside on the grass
L. M.
I like coming here to sit on one of the many benches to chill out, read a book and get some fresh air (though there are busy roads nearby).
BUT there seem to be a lot of rats and mice around the old church now. I see multiple each time I visit. I’m not suggesting we kill them off, but just be aware not to drop food for them.
O. ..
I was very impressed how well-tended and tidy the whole area was. Plenty of bins, so important, any pretty park can be completely spoiled by rubbish strewn around. And this is a very pretty little park with pleasant ruins, modern and not so statues, beautiful trees and flowers, fantastic river views - what more would you want?
G. V.
Probably the most popular park in bristol with the formal garden around the ruins and paths around the old castle walls. It's easy to forget that you are right next to Cabot Circus, The Galleries, the market and many of the offices. A great piece of greenery in the middle of the bustling city.
J. P.
Good park that's kept pretty clean. Bring a picnic blanket and some food and just vibe. There isn't much of a view but it gets good sun on the grass.
C. D.
A bit rough, some gambling in the park and no loos. Nice enough for a city center and plenty of bins with a fun water feature my son enjoyed.
T. B.
Growing up in Bristol this place was a crackheads paradise, these days however you only see the odd one!
C. B.
a pleasant and relaxing place. I can not wait for summer to come.
E. D.
This is my favourite haunt for a little walk in the centre. It gets too busy for me in the warm weather after 11am but a morning stroll in the Sun. Or on the colder months (in the sun) it's lovely . Nice little garden behind the bombed out chapel and next to the river. Nice place to take a mocha 👌
W.
Great out door space with plenty to look at around
R. L.
Nice, I suppose.
It has not got much in the way of playgrounds, but it is good for walking and sitting down.
I use it to run, it is especially good for couch to 5 K.
It's quite spacious too.
M.
A lovely green area right on the edge.of the city shopping area.
At either end of the space is a food hut.
Often very busy on nice days, so you're taking a risk if turning up around lunchtime (12:00-14:00)
Walk up Union Street from the shops, or crossover at the end of Penn street, and it's just there.
Usually quite clean and tidy.
Very early and very late it CAN be frequented by the drunks n druggies, but during the day it's usually quite safe.
Not a lot of seats about, so be prepared to sit down on the grass.
D. V.
Great green space in the centre of the city, next to main shopping area and the river , a great asset to the city of bristol.
d. f.
Nice busy park great location
K. A.
Lovely bit of green right next to a historic castle
G. R.
Nice place to hang out
D. D.
It is a wonderful place. You can find Merlin's cave, beautiful views and also stores. It is the right place for reading, meditation, hike. I appreciate this place.
G. C. (. A. B.
I took a £10 Gary on a hot summers day here. As it reached the back of my throat, it hit a dry patch and lodged itself there for a moment, antagonising my gag reflex and causing me to vomit. As i stared into the warm pile of vomitus, sharp contrasting colours of pink and brown met my gaze. Then my eye was drawn to the yellow bar of shame that I'd unwillingly ejected from my gullet. I picked it out with my index finger and thumb, placed it on my tongue and washed it down with some warm Thatchers Gold. Despite the entire ordeal being witnessed by an otherwise content family of parents and small children, nobody said a word. I got off with nothing but a shocked and somewhat disapproving glare. Shortly after i threw myself into a hedge to avoid a speeding cyclist, i awoke roughly 3 hours later with both my phone and wallet still in pockets and couple of cans of Thatchers still intact. 10/10 would do again.
A. O.
We come here often, one of my favourite place to hang around and sit down. Of course in good weather, not at winter times:) but I do enjoy walking around at winter also just can not sit on the ground.
I. T.
Very nice park during the day! When the sun falls however it can be a bit sketchy as many homeless individuals sleep there overnight. Big bonus however, look closely and you'll be able to score some very nice flowers 😉🍁
N. P.
Lovely park, visited with my granddaughter and we had picnic lunch behind St. Peters church in the little garden round the back. Pleased to see very little litter.
A. R.
Beautiful park! Visit it and have a nice sit on the grass while you enjoy your day.
A. W.
Really nice park, good vibe and beautiful view overlooking the river. It is a popular place with alot of people and we'll kept gardens by the side of the church memorial
d.
I was in the park midday on a Saturday and I swear down I saw a guy step out of his wheelchair for the first time in 17 years. Toilets are pretty good in The Galleries and they have security.
I. W. (.
Castle park is beautiful and in such a great location but it is incredibly empty.
The are very few benches to sit on and they're mostly all located in one area next to the church. This area can also become quite rough at night so i would avoid walking through. Aside from this bad point this park is incredibly nice, it has so much room and a mixture of concrete and grass. Its a great spot to come and sit on your lunch. If you get bored of admiring the view then you can always pop across the bridge to the left handed giant for a nice craft ale.
P. C.
Nice little park, lots of hipsters around chilling.
i. a.
Such little beautiful park, close to the city shopping centre, view towards the river
L. H.
Wow the lovely flower garden was a nice suprise! Gorgeous settings for post wedding pictures, complete with cool off under the trees for a post wedding brownie and a little fizz.
K. K.
One of the most beautiful parks in centre, view on castle, river, nature in the middle of town♥️ best for lunch break
A. L.
Nice place to seat down and relax.
E. T.
Fantastic place to come and shop, eat and generally have a fab time.
s. b.
Nice place to sit and picnic in good weather.
A. M.
Nice if you're a resident!
P. G.
Definitely a very good urban park. Plenty of places to lounge on benches or the lawn.
m. z.
Wonderful place to enjoy sunny days in the centre of busy city centre
M. i.
Bare bagheads but good speck!! Fruity passers-by,, spice head, weed shotters, freshers,, beige mf, everyone and they bf passes through sooner or later,, best smoke spot in briz 54 rasta badges
B. S.
Clean, tidy, and very calming...this place also has a very interesting history, if that sort of thing grabs you....a nice place to share a picnic.
G. Q.
Nice view
S. S.
Food and staff great toilets and chairs in need of refreshment
G. B.
Definitely some great views of the river however several parts of the area could do with a little more love especially of recent years but a nice place to eat lunch given the weather.
J. H.
It was a lovely place to visit, nice and clean and bar that it was a hot day nice trees to shade under having lunch
W. G.
Nice for walks very near my daughters apartment and near shops
G. E.
Lovely green space in middle of the city..It has a wonderful Apothecary Garden by the old Church..especially lovely in Spring when Cherry Trees Blossom...
M. T. (.
Nice place to relax on your own, with friend's or family. The park also has a beautiful herbal garden of plants area, with benches to sit and admire the colours. and fragrances.
A number of music events take place in the warmer months.
G. W.
Excellent place for jogging or walking. The park is beautiful with a backdrop of a medieval church/castle. I entered this park through the castle bridge after parking the car on other side. There is a lot of space in this park if you want to have a leisurely time. I would reccomend to visit this park if you happen to come by Bristol.
J. B.
Picturesque and somewhat bohemian area best visited during daylight hours
C. H.
Lovely sunny morning and took the time to chill for 20 mins, away from the busy city centre
M. S.
Good place to score weed 👍🏼
*EDIT* Still a good place.
M. S.
Great for a morning walk or day time picnic. Cafe near by and beautiful garden. Really loved it.
T. M.
A lovely local visit. Circles have been drawn on the grass for you to sit in with your household and safely socially distance from other visitors. Girls loos are further away than the boys.
J. B.
It's the most central park in the city and it comes with all the ups and downs you'd expect from that. It's fairly large and located by the river, but often very busy. Overflowing bins are a common sight. There is typically a wide variety of punters ranging from anti- to ultra-social. Not the best place to go to relax on a hot day, but not the worst. It's a mixed bag.
A. T.
Nice place to relax out of the hustle of the city. Parts looking rundown, suppose lack of funds again. Spent many a lunchtime here when I was still working!
J. C.
Castle Park is notorious for homelessness and crime. If you're from Bristol you're taught not to walk through in the dark by yourself. It's such a shame because it's a beautiful park with a great view down by the river and the castle is beautiful. In the summer the park is full of life, eclectic and interesting.
Would fully recommend going to the park in good weather with a picnic and a drink but I would still say stay away from the park at night.
f. R.
Take a break from any onerous sightseeing or shopping by grabbing something from Matina's in St. Nick's market and sitting in this park. When it's busy on a sunny day it can sometimes feel like a cross between a 'balloon' festival and a Spanish Circus school but you get the occasional gem like the solo Cumbia dancer in the bandstand.
R. M.
Very peaceful takeaway cup of tea spent in lovely gardens
P. S.
I like Castle Park, but it's impossible not to notice the groups of people that congregate there which make it a little intimidating to traverse at night and even, at times, in broad daylight - speaking from personal experience, I've had two unprovoked situations which were luckily avoided but left me feeling deeply wary of hanging out in certain areas of the park. I guess in a way it's a good thing to understand where is safe and where isn't, but somewhere as relatively small a space that has so much foot traffic passing through, it should be managed by the council in a way that prevents it from becoming an area for drugs misuse and littering. It's perhaps better than it has been in recent years (although the complete removal of the childrens playground is sad and mystifying) it has so much potential to be a green space that Bristol can be proud of.
T. S.
There's a nice river view and it's good to visit on a sunny day especially in the summer. However you will need to find a spot among the hordes of people during the summer. Expect all times to breathe in the drifting smoke from cannabis.
V. D.
Lovely park in the middle of Bristol! I love spend my lunch break there!!
G. S.
Beautiful place
A.
Beutiful place for a picnic or to sit and enjoy the sun. Great scenery and very good for social distancing practices
A. G.
Gorgeous!
On the other side of the river you have a nice brewery
T. P.
Awesome place for chilling out when there is warm and sunny!!
B. C.
A lovely green open space in the heart of the city. Also the former site of Bristol castle and latterly the old shopping quarter before being bombed during WW2. Some ruins and cellars still remain if you look for them. A play area for kids. Nice place to relax in the summer.
L. J.
Nice place to relax and chill out, nice view to the river
K. T.
Great place to have a park.
j.
Lovely park to enjoy a walk along the river, there's a ruined castle to see, which is a picturesque building you can walk around the outside of. Nice chilled vibe and easy access to shops ( 5 mins walk) at different points if you want to grab a coffee for your stroll. It's common to find other people here sat on the grass enjoying the river views. Im not sure how far along the river you can walk as I didn't have time for a big explore but I walked about half a mile starting at temple gate ( where I gathered some snacks at McColls) before walking to the castle.
D. C.
Best place to seat on the railing & eat kebab!!
W. M.
The abandoned portion of the bank has been an eye sore for over 20 years. How is it such a valuable location is not been made better use of? Park bit is usually crowded for a park but typical for a city centre.
N. S.
Nice park, gets busy on a summers day. It's next to the river in the middle of town.
A. S.
Some trees are blossoming already. Lovely in a sunny day when there's a lot of people around playing ball, listening to music, chatting and laughing.
M. F.
Love grabbing lunch at the lunch market or food stands and eating it at the park. So nice to see the river and everyone enjoying the sun in the summer. One of the prime people-watching places in bristol, with close access to everything you might need (vegetarian burrito? Hummus plate? 17 crisp lagers?)
C. B.
Nice views of the river and close to all of the shops. Very nice place to sit in the summer. The police need to police it a little better as there are drug gangs openly active in the park often.
J. A.
The sikh memorial is the place in Castle Park Bristol to sit and chill out.
Beautiful memorial to fallen soldiers of the commonwealth.
Well worth sitting for 20 minutes.
5 stars all round.
H. P.
Came here to eat some Eatchu but wasn't expecting to see a fantastic game of Stag Do Cricket. A strong opening from the bride's brother (who looked like a gangly John Oliver) was followed up by respectable scores by the groom's banterous friend and the best man. Unfortunately by time the father of the bride was in the bowlers had found their rhythm and the wickets began to tumble and as they broke for tea and shots the score was 78-21.
D. H.
My fave place to do a round of pokemon go, nice bumpy walk, lots of stops, stops for a drink of tea or falafel, perfect, pretty too
A. D.
The little part I saw of it was really pretty. There was a falafel stand and just opposite is the river to look at.
L. W.
A large open space, fairly well maintained, with the galleries to one side and the river on the other. A cycle lane and a pedestrian lane allow people to easily flow through. The area is one of the few spots in Bristol which is totally traffic free which I appreciate when I'm there. In the winter the park is quite well lit with street lamps. During the late morning to mid afternoon in the summer the area attracts lots of sunbathers and various people relaxing while out shopping or on a lunch break. The top bit by the bombed out church features a memorial to the victims in the area of the Bristol Blitz. In the evening though things tend to get more boozy, there's a smell of pot in the air often and the next day a lot of rubbish is usually lying around on the grass, the few bins in the park quickly overfill with rubbish and nobody seems willing to take it away with them. You'll also notice laughing gas canisters all over the pavement. In the morning the area is often populated with a few down and outs and homeless types too. Also the band stand mostly shelters some rough looking people, often with a few dogs and music playing. All in all the grounds themselves are quite nice but it can attract a rougher kind of person.
D.
Nice grass, but there is not much there apart from a brown river
H. R.
Nice views of the river, nice place to sit on a sunny evening with a few drinks!
T. W.
Lovely location. Lots of building work going on though
A. U.
You might things - oh, its just a tiny park, yes, but.. There's a church ruins right on your side that breaths history, great upmind building views, access Tianyu places and a great bring-your-own-lunch hub on the sunny day! Its a great spot a quick picnic!
R. C.
Lovely park. We went there with our sun to play. On the description it says adventure park. It didn't had any swings or slides... I asked couple of people about swings and they said everything was destroyed by drug addicts... not impressed...
S. F.
It wasn't where I had intended to go. But Castle Park is what's left of Bristol Castle. The Church of there was bombed out in the Battle of Britain. It is one of the bigger areas of central Bristol. And over the last 70 or 80 years or so. It has been substantially tweaked. And Covid 19 has forced a huge change again. Right next to Broadmead - it has remained popular and pleasant.
Wine Street and Union Street are the two nearest streets to it. But it is a focal point for protest marches and often crowded. Which under the current conditions - not too wise!
t.
Great park for little shopping breaks and picnics. Can be a little rough in the evenings but what can you expect for a central public place?! Would recommend in the summer for chilled hangouts.
m. l.
It's a nice place to rest & eat, council have put tables to allow public test & rest.down side people have eaten & drunk their ,but forgot to put in bins provided.
L. B.
Was very peaceful there, it's a shame that we live in a rich city where people are forced to camp out for lack of affordable available accommodation. Its about time the council provided approved safe zones for people that are forced into this predicament if they can't provide accommodation! Castle park is one of the best central Bristol has to offer, if I need a smoke it's at the top of the list for destinations.
M. D.
Lovely place to chill close to city center
N.
Nice sight seeing to visit and people hanging out there it's lovely...
莊.
Lovely and coY park with good near river view
s. H.
Lovely area! Happy tourist.
M. T.
Nice place to bring a takeaway lunch if the weather is banging (provided you can avoid some of its sketcher inhabitants).
Note it does fall within an alcohol exclusion zone which, up until recently, wasn't policed.
T. J.
On a nice day it’s a very pleasant place to walk through
P. S.
Quite nice park during daytime, unless you want to have a beer or two on the sneak. Also according to a police friend, one of the most dangerous places to be during night.
C.
Good place to have a walk in the centre or to stop and have lunch. Plenty of space so you will never feel like you are sat "on top" of people. There is a children's playground but unless something has been done to stop certain people using it, I won't let my kids use again. We found used needles and broken glass under some of the equipment - likely when it was used as a shelter from the weather. Since the surface is all sand the kids will want to take their shoes off and if anything has been partially buried it doesn't bear thinking about...
J. H.
Nice to chill in the sun by the river, can get pretty busy but there's plenty of space for everyone! No swings/play park for children however, so not ideal if that's what you're looking for.
K. Z.
Lovely park to chill at. Sadly sometimes when I wanna be left alone I'm bugged by people for money or alcohol. Nothing against the less fortunate but being a girl I generally don't like being bothered by strangers.
R. S.
Beautiful river side park
K. L.
Lovely park right next to the hussle and bussle of Cabot. Great for a wee drink or just chilling and reading!
S. T.
Had a great experience. If you want to plan a kid's birthday party. This is definitely the place to do it, staff was super friendly and polite! Magician show is a can't miss, made our time there.
M. S.
Is a lovely place to sit around during the summer. Although you have to be careful with gangs hanging around the park smoking drugs and drinking, just stay near the busy parts of the park and you will be ok.
P. I.
Quite clean and has a nice view of the river. Does feature a lot of loitering throughout the day though and is a hot-spot for beggars.
C. H.
Pretty place to relax but unfortunately a lot of people seem to want to leave their rubbish around. Occasionally you get big groups of kids smoking drugs. You never get any hassle from them they're never intimidating, however I know some people wouldn't like this.
A. K.
Nice Park. Bit too many people smoking weed though. That needs cleaning up
J. J.
A nice park away form the busy city although not a place you would want to hang out past light. On a warm summer days it's the perfect place to come and have your lunch
M. C.
Nice place for lunchtime
M. N.
Nice green space. Maintained alright and it's usually quiet but welcoming
P. K.
Lovely peaceful park to stop by, chill out, have lunch or during the day. Ferry boat (water bus service ) you can get here to about 10 destinations in Bristol. Very well maintained Park. I always stop by for a break!!
A. H.
Nice place but it’s need more improvement
M. M.
Nice park with nice views
N. A.
Nice city centre park, very peaceful place. Gets very busy when the suns out. There are two ruined churches in the park St Mary Le Port and St Peter's both damaged during the Second World War, also visible are parts of Bristol Castle hence the park's name.
B. P.
Lovely place to relax&chill, some historical views to still look at&explor the old castle grounds known as castle park
L. W.
Set on the old castle grounds castle park is a great place for picnic close to coffee shops and river Avon
R. F.
Nice place to walk around in the middle of a city.
H. C.
I think Castle Park is great - a nice open space in the middle of town and encompassing the water. I do miss Starbucks in Victoria Street as it was very relaxing sitting there with a latte overlooking the ducks and swans.
I. K.
very good chilling area n so quite to get in touch with nature.!!
D. H.
Perfect Public space for you and your family to enjoy.
J. “.
First visit here seemed nice enough but I'm told it can get pretty busy on hot summer days.
D. W.
Great example of Bristols' city parks featuring riverside views, large amounts of lawn for lounging and easy accessibility.
Situated on the suspected site of the former Bristol Castle the park still retains ruins, stylishly manicured with gardens and benches. There is information on the history, landscape and surrounding area situated at key points around the park.
R. L.
Nice open space but no playground and litter everywhere.
B. P.
Nice bit of open space in the centre of town with a bombed out church bearing witness to WWII. Could use a little TLC as far as the benches and litter are concerned.
H. P.
Nice open green space in centre of Bristol. Plenty of seating and areas for picnicking. Small garden area with water feature, looked after by volunteers with plenty of lovely flowers and vegetable plot.
S. C.
A small (though larger than you'd think at first glance) park in the centre of the city. It is bordered by the river on one side and the Galleries on the other. There have been funfairs on the site quite often and occasionally the circus sets up there. It is a busy park, popular with teenagers in the summer who seem to like jumping off things, which can be quite entertaining to watch. You can get to a jetty to get next to the water but that's about as close as you can go.
S. R.
Nice park. Weed everywhere though
M. S.
A park in the middle of the city, with a lot of grass, some benches and newly installed bins that might finally contain all the rubbish that people throw away. Geberally a great place to spend time with your mates when the weather's nice. Another way of dealing with excess rubbish seems to be forbidding people to have a bottle of beer or a glass of wine.
G. C.
Beautiful park to chill out and have a nice picnic.
J. H.
Great place to sit and picnic when the weather is fine. There are some benches and plenty of grass for sitting.
M. P.
Very nice place for a walk.
K.
Decent vibes definitely think more events should be held here rather than college green
C. T.
It's a lovely, green space in the middle of Bristol. It has an old, bombed out church and smugglers' tunnels, which are usually locked. Unfortunately, the place has been taken over by vagabonds in tents and it's not as welcoming as it used to be. Sad.
Y. P.
Great place for little relax time during the lunch
E. C.
Lovely place for a dog walk or evening drinks in the summer. I wouldn't stay past a certain time if your just chilling, had some questionable people approach us many times.
F. S.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸 March 15/05/2921
A. K.
Good place to relax, play and workouts😉
j. c.
Pretty nice place, good view of the river, didn't actually use it but it had a rather nice looking fire circle.
N. S.
OK plenty of rubbish on the field though, kinda expected in Bristol
K. D.
Lovely spot. Really clean and well maintained.
Would love to be able to see more of / about the old church and the work being done on it.
J. C.
Love Castle Park. Not the largest of parks but it is well designed and a nice spot to chill.
T. R.
Went to the Light Festival, these photos show the plastic bottles on display at Castle Green
P. P.
Refreshing and nice.
Flowers and trees are very lovely in spring/summer time.
S. W.
Sunny quiet spot in the midst of a busy shopping area. Good views of the river and interesting historical story boards.
D. I.
Very nice place with the ruins and a lush spectacular garden
S. P.
My family and i absolutely loved spending time there. Chilled vibe by the nature where kids can play safely 👌👌
e. p.
Castle park on gorgeous with lots of space on the grass by the water and great votes of Bristol. It's usually very lively and has lots going. Also it is amazing for Pokemon Go as it has over 9 pokestops that usually have lures active.
j. k.
Check out LHG for a beergasm, they're pizzas are pretty damn fine as well, and also vegan!
B. F.
Saw a cow made frwens was pretty chill overall would recommend
K. R.
Lovely piece of green space where you can sit down and watch the world go by
J. P.
I love castle park. Currently there are a lot of people going down to find pokemon which give it a nice community feel with people helping each other out. There are lots of bins around so there is no need for people to leave rubbish - of course some people do but it isn't too bad usually. Nice information boards about the history of the park and sculptures are also dotted about.
p. c.
Lovely grounds, loads of people enjoying the sun.
S.
Used to be a great place to sit and eat your lunch during the summer. Unfortunately, a number of unsavoury characters seem to be congregating there in numbers now. Hopefully the police and council will rectify this.
K. V.
Beautiful place, stunning display of lovely bee friendly flowers
P. H.
The council wrecked this historical place with their efforts to turn it into a park. Remnants of Bristol Castle are here, destroyed on Cromwell's orders, but are badly signed. The greatest blot in the edge of the park is the monstrous derelict building that should have been pulled down years ago.
O. A.
Nice lovely place where you can relax in the nature. Good place to sit and relax on one of the many hills. Quite clean.
K. B.
Nice little inner city park area by the river. Nothing special but if you're craving green space and don't want to venture far this is a good bet
R. V.
Wouldn't hurt to put more bins in it, but it's a very nice park. It's a nice spot to have a picnic, or to lighten up your commuting road with some green :)
A. M.
Grass and Relax by the River, so lovely!
M. L.
Eviscerated pigeon
On the floating seed garden
Outstretched wings inviting a gruesome embrace.
j. p.
Gardens are well kept, plenty of seating. Smells of weed and drug deals openly visible to the public during the day.
A.
Beautiful park and church ruin. I hope the water sculpture will be fixed.
T. B.
So beautiful, perfect spot for a picnic and taking photos.
A. H.
Great park to sit and watch the world go by. Very popular with Pokémon trainers at the moment. On a weekday grab some food from St Nick's market over the road.
M.
Love coming here, the site of the original shopping centre which was bombed out of existence during WW2. Alongside the Avon, this is a pretty park with the ruins of this lovely church. Now just a shell, it is possible to check out the bomb damage through the security gates. Includes a plaque of those killed in the blitz, respect, love and rest in peace, Bristolians. A short walk from the bustle of Broadmead, and Union Street, the market and City Centre. Historic, meaningful - and bittersweet x.
J. J.
great place to enjoy the sun in the city centre completely screened from traffic. Great cafe, good value and community feel. Cherry trees glorious at this time of year.
D. I.
Nice place for a picnic and enjoy old buildings and the river
M. K.
Nice place to chill. There has been an addition of an old well covered by a glass. It's scary to stand on it. Should be enjoyable for kids.
S. B.
Lovely walk through the trees with their informative labels. The smell of the trees was good because we will be able to identify them with nose and eyes.
M. G.
It was good to be there in Castle Park last Saturday afternoon.. As there is a place where you can have a drink and something to eat .Also a place to sit down and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
K.
Love this park, always something going on, good location
r. b.
A nice place to get some space from all the shopaholics.
S. K.
Not much to say - it's the only park in this part of the city centre, and therefore wins by virtue of lack of competition.
S. A. B.
Lovely place to just sit and relax. A lovely chilled environment to just sit and watch the world go by
D. H.
Really nice and clean park near to the city center and shopping center. Good place to relax and chill or go out or go for a picnic with friends.
A. I.
Small and busy with lots of bikes so not good for dogs and children but lovely place to chill around the water feature and small gardens.
D. G.
Good place to sit and relax on one of the many hills. A nice park in the center of Bristol. A good place to go to escape the fast pace of the town
J. K.
A very popular green space to sit in the sun with a view of the river and the ruins of what was once a church. Great for lunch breaks if you work nearby
s. j.
Castle Park is a must on hot summers days, picnics with friends, Frisbee, cheeky glass(plastic glasses please) of schloer, and a soft whip ice cream with a flake, I miss the days of Bristol Pride being held here, it was much more easily accessible than the current venue, day times are wonderful but I wouldn't venture here alone at night, I've heard of several muggings and attacks in recent years, keep it friendly and fun this is a great area for families and couples alike, dogs are also welcomed but please keep them on a lead and clean up their mess afterwards.
I. H.
Nice spot for sitting down after grabbing lunch from the market
B.
Castle park is lovely place specialy in summer.. if site on the grass with your friend have cold beer.. just looking at all this busy people.. I lived there all summer in 2006 and is most beautiful please in Bristol.. thats where I met my Gary.. K.
m. h.
Great park, weather could of been better and some guy asked me for some change which left me £3 down, but its all good
J. M.
Visiting Castle Park is a must for any Bristolian or people visiting the city. I think what makes Bristol the greatest city is the green spaces that are good enough to sit and relax. The grass is fantastic for relaxing alongside the river. Especially alongside the bombed out church. St Nicholas Market isn't far away if you would like to buy lunch, and there are a few cafés and pop up bars nearby.
I recommend Castle Park as it is one of my two places in Bristol to sit outdoors and watch the world go by.
F.
Love being here on a warm day. Good spaces for picnics, music, slacklines, juggling. Nice vibe from everyone around. Well done Bristol.
d. l.
Very nice park well worth a visit
C. T.
Good centre Bristol park, large grass area, Sikh WW1 signboard for support in great war.
Small cafe nearest to Wine Street/ Union Street, next food, coffee etc.
E. A.
Located across from the Broadmead & Cabot Circus shopping areas is a park which adjoins the river and has a well preserved ruins of a church in the middle, well worth the short walk for a few photos and a pleasant stroll.
D. J.
Nice park to relax and have picnics in, very quiet and is near town for convenience. No toilets
c. h.
Great place to go and relax and get a bite to eat while spending time in the city centre (Bristol). With a catwalk leading straight into a shopping mall this is perfect for both shopping and relaxing!
D. N.
Lots of room, great views, lacks public loos but the galleries shopping centre ones aren't too far away.
E. M.
Love the park, hate the incoming alcohol ban. Council need the sack.

R. H.
Nice grass area to relax.
W. L.
Good place to sit and watch the world go by. Very busy when I visited, but then the sun was shining.
R. B.
Castle park always looks really well kept and it's one of the better green areas of Bristol to spend your time on a nice day
R. J.
Loves great from the outside but if you look inside the ruins its filled with rubbish. Bit disappointing.
R. M.
Nice spot near the city centre to sit on a bench or the grass and eat lunch or talk to friends :) watch out for low flying bicycles though!
A. G.
Big open space, but some dodgy people around the place and a few playing too loud music often at the same time which is tough to sit through
P. F.
Bristol is amazing for it's green areas in the heart of the City. I lived right beside Castle park for many years. Great spot with a great atmosphere on sunny days.
