Reviews of Castle Park
U. C.
Very peaceful place and beautiful. One can spend hours in the park. It has benches, ponds, golf, cafe and historical importance. Family, kids and dog friendly. Positive vibes and good atmosphere. Highly recommended to visit and spend some time here. No entry fees or any other charges for visitation.

Looked after, nicely designed. Beautiful flowers, little pond too. Massive kids, toddlers playground near by. Public toilets, car park. Excellent for a walk, picnic or family day out.

We love castle park and can spend hours there! Kids love the play park and running up and down the hills etc. Always keep an eye on colchester events as they also have things going on fairly often! Toilets available next to the play park, and if the weather is nice there is usually somewhere to get an ice cream.
Great place!!

Large park with lots of events. Keep an eye out. Gardens are well kept. Nice slopes for views. Cafe with coffee and ice cream excellent. Easy access. Just a nice place to relax. The Platinum Jubilee 42 gun salute with marching band was really good.

Plenty of seats and spacious. Clean and lovely planting. Safe to go alone or as a large group/family. Great place to take children

Amazing park with a lot of history that you could find illustrated and detailed on the signs alongside. It has the remains of a Roman Wall that separates the park between the lower side and the higher side up the hill.
It has a small pond, with waterfowl such as swans, ducks and the lot, black headed gulls too. This is the only pond in the park by the way, however, the river Colne runs through it, so there are nice spots alongside there you could sit.
It also has a small fish pond with blue water (and fish), its a nice place to relax and read a book of you wish.
The array of plants and flowers is amazing; it has an abundant amount of these and they are set out in a patterned way to look aesthetic.
More with the historical aspect, there is an area with a lot of stones commerating events during WWII.
The castle is probably the main attraction of this park. I didn't visit but I did some research before visiting Colchester. It has existed form Ore than 2,000 years although it had been partly demolished at one (or more) points. It is now a paid exhibit, which I may visit next time.
There is, however, a free museum called Hollytrees. It has interesting history, you can pick up a piece of paper of its beginnings and how it passed on throigh generations since its making. It consists of 2 floors, detailing life, home and childhood in historic times. It also has a gift shop.
Apparently alcohol is prohibited from being drunk in this park; I'm not sure if this applies to the entire ground though.

Beautiful. Really amazing. Loved the ducks! Cool wall. Must be great to come here on daily basis!

I'm going to mark them down because of the price of the events they hold here, although fun, the Medieval Fayre was just a trade fair and it cost £10 to get in. That's steep for not much, except a browse around some stalls and a brief encounter with a Falcon.

A lovely place to enjoy a stroll, a picnic or take the children to the play area/ sandpit. Refreshments available within the park & toilet facilities too. We love sitting by the fish pond.

Beautiful parkland, especially in the Autumn as there are loads of trees. Great for kids, lovely play area.
Castle well worth a visit.
Gorgeous riverside walk. Loads of ducks and water birds.
Altogether a wonderful place to visit. Plenty of places for picnics as well. Great for a day out.
