Reviews of Normanton Park
Nice park in the heart of Normanton. It has tree-lined paths and large grass fields. You get a nice mix of young and old using the facilities. There are football/tennis courts, cricket nets, and a play area for children as well as an outdoor exercise area with various equipment. There is ample parking next to the park. The park could however do with some maintenance as some of the original park buildings require repair and renovation. Groups of youngsters have made this area a hang out and there is a considerable amount of litter on the paths.
Nice and green. But still can be improved further by installing exercise equipments and more things for kids.
Great place to run - progress markers are useful on the outer 1km loop. Playground, cricket facilities, basket ball, a bit of tarmac and plenty of green space.
Great park.shame the only proper slide os not suitable for small kids
1 km round Flatish route pleasant especially first thing in the morning. Mature trees, free ample parking and a host of selfless under appreciated unsung volunteers who keep the park tidy all around the year! ❤
Love this park. It has facilities for everyone, children's play area, adults outdoor gym, football pitches, cricket nets and a track around the park for 1000 metres for walkers and runners. Its also clean and has volunteers collecting litter. Feel safe when doing my walk.
Normanton Park is a great park for exercise. It has a track made of tarmac around the park. It is great for running and cycling. It also has measurements on the floor to show the distance you run. The park also has a children's playground which is good. It also has other facilities like cricket nets, a football and basketball pitch which is one. And a large green area for fielding or football practice. It is great👍. I give a 4.5
Nice shady walk around the park
Large open park with a good sized playground suitable for ages 2 upto teens. There's a number of sports facilities like basketball court and large open fields and a 1km marked circular "track" around the perimeter. Parking is free but fairly small. It's right next to a major road so traffic noise is a bit loud at times.
Good marked out (every 100 meter) 1k path around a nice park. Busy, with plenty of people taking advantage of the path (walking and jogging) Has a free carpark. I would recommend 💪🏼😊👍🏼 Terry Barnes
My local park. Very convenient, and have a variety of sports courts and a play area for youngsters. Not sure why cricket bowling machines have been banned if they are used within the two cricket nets. Probably more risk to the public from batsmen, striking cricket balls over the enclosure.
Shame that the original buildings have not been maintained. Toilet facilities have not been available for a long time. Available toilets are in the community centre and the cafe. The dedicated public toilets have either been knocked down, or if existing not fit for person. I can only think of one other park in Derby, where public toilet facilities are not routinely available.
Green Thyme cafe is a wonderful project, and hold a range of art and craft sessions, as well as activities in Normanton allotment.
Well maintained by parks and rangers.
Great park and usually full of people of all ages and ethnicity. Very safe and family friendly.
Very nice playground for kids aged 4 to 10ish
Very large open park. Has a cafe, open in morning. Great for longs walks, and to take your dog(s). has cricket courts, exercise area and a children's play area, all gated off, so no running toddlers. Lived in the area all my life and it's a lovely park.
Thankful we have a local park, which is kept fairly clean and tidy, however because of lack of outdoor areas it can get fairly crowded at times.
I find that it's got the right amount of distance for my dogs to walk, and sniff around lots of tree's. It seems to fairly well kept, and just a nice place to be.
Peaceful. Clean tidy and a great place to escape for fresh air and daily exercise
Love this park. I enjoy my frequent walks. Friends of Normanton park keep it tidy along with the council, walking groups meet up regularly, great play area for young children, gorgeous in summer, cricket area, football/netball court. Just great
Every time I go to a park, my first choice is Normanton Park. It’s an open place perfect for any sport and the 1000m walk is great for people who want to walk or cycle a long distance in the fresh air. I found that after cycling around the track, I wanted to go around again, after all, the greenery of the park is beautiful.
Excellent facilities including tennis courts, cricket nets, football courts and bowling court. Also children's play area and adult exercise area as well as 1 km walking/ cycling track which is all tree lined. Only downside are some of the youth who congregate there.
Good for kids cycling
On a sunny day expect a bit of a wait for playground rides for the kids. Great open space (never seen it fully occupied) for other sports and activities. Generally well maintained. Never been in the evenings mind.
I hadn't been here since I was young but was in the area recently and decided to go for a walk. It's right of a main road so not a bad location for find it. There isn't much parking but locals would walk to this inner city park. It hasn't changed much from when I visited it when I was young which is sometimes a nice thing.
Nice for dog walking, jogging roller -blading. It's well maintained send cared for. Easy parking and wheelchair/pushchair access. Generally nice people. I've never had any bother.
Nice old Victoria Park, good quiet spot on the city
Easy access free parking. Good playground for younger children. Good place for walks or runs. They have a outdoor training area with a few exercise machines. Overall a nice park
Lovely Park 🏞️ to Walk around Dog 🐕 friendly 😉
Joggers sports Court for Football ⚽ and Cricket Cafe open at Certain times
Great park for relaxing and going out for runs or riding your bike.
It requires alot of improvement the best parts of the park are the football courts and kids playground. The grass fields are so unlevel with no goal posts. They have to input atleast 4 goalposts on the grass fields with weekly grass cutting.
A good, flat land park to enjoy a day out with family. Small car park too
Clean and open but the that big which isnt a bad thing especially for something that close and local
Great Park for family and friends fun.
Very beautiful and quiet also.
Good park
Good ol'normanton park, trees are majestic, place and people are friendly
A slice of nature in the heart of the inner city.
Features a basketball area, park for toddlers and older children and an outdoor gym.
There is a cafe and youth club but best to ring beforehand to check opening hours.
Nice little community park. Shame that users don't pick up after themselves though.
Nice Park kids enjoyed
Beautiful place to enjoy sometime with the family, playing area for kids, probably only need some more toilets.
Small but perfectly formed park for a short walk or kick a ball around. Children's play area, some outdoor exercise equipment and 2 enclosed courts for games.
Normanton park it's absolutely great place to visit and enjoy your time or if you have kids
Very good place to spend good time with family
Has nice area for kids to play
Only problem seems that full of one ethinicity
Few young children can b seen in posture of subject to objections....
Nice place but their was a dog of the leash and was running around
The park is kept clean and the paths are very good. My son is disabled so highly recommend for wheelchair users.
A nice big green space but very neglected, dilapidated buildings, overly long grass, tired play area. Will not hurry to return.
Very nice to take a walk in and also to bring your kids too.
Have fun with kids
Very nice place, seen some questionable stuff in the woods, but mostly a lovely place to walk and take the dog
Hadn't been for 30 years or more, expecting a tip but not realised, pleasantly surprised at the good condition of the park and the good people within.
Worth a visit. The paths and drains need a bit of clearing. Otherwise okay.
Nice park but a walk just walk place not kids play different oppsan more work in the future country healthy and clear mind better the UK
The mile walk around has helped me with my weight loss battle.. My twin boys can have a run around after too
Lovely park, ideal for parents with young children however the park isn't well look after from the users & it's looking it's value
Good to have a walking or tuning sessions the track around the park and the trees justifying the best of the nature's purity of course. ..may God bless the parks
Wonderful place to take kids for a walk.
Good cricket nets
Really good for practising but when you bowl to fast your ball get stuck behind where the batman Is standing
Normanton Park very good for
All age people
Popular with walkers of all ages. There are football courts, cricket nets and a dedicated playing area for children.
Excellent.
I like to go here because it’s clean and safe
Bikes inside palyground,bad kids behavior...
It is a lovely looking park, with good size, nonetheless the Normanon Area is not the most ‘pleasant’ for many reasons, from cleanliness to criminality rate.
Basically its a park but its got a massive grass area, a little kids bit and benches.
Great place to have some fun go out with friends on a sunny day. Fantastic facilities.
A lot if effort has been made by volunteers and council to help make it a pleasant environment for us to use
We were able to eat in peace. No dogs to bother us.
Nice public space, great to see the as cricket facilities and play area fully used
it's ok, not at times when it's dark though..good 1km running track..
It was ok
I loved there because the park was so calm!
A bit unsafe for the kids. Teenagers and older kids (8+) smoking and setting a bad example but nice play area
Large park, with adult outdoor gym, children's play area, large grass area, outdoor tennis court, however no toliets available for public!
It is OK for taking your dog for a walks but you can expect "gangs" or "roadmen" there just like in any other park
Lovely park not too far from Derby city centre
Great open park to walk your dog's or take the kids to the play area.
Good 😊
A lovely place with very old trees, perfect for dog owners.
Good for walking and relaxing. No toilets. Buildings require upgrading.
I went to Woking there it was very nice
Great public park with many tree lined walkways, facilities and a cafe that is open at weekend.
Used to be a good park but unfortunately it's full of drug users an alcoholics now an foreign folk an let's say its been ruined
Children's park and outdoor exercise gym meant children and grown ups all had fun! Also cafe for drinks.
Good open spaces with variety of exercise options and play areas.
It's good for walk or run. Small ground is available
A lovely place
Excellent park with some free cross trainer and marked out lines for distance running
They have a cricket cage here...
