Reviews of Walkergate Car Park

Used the car park on a daily basis during my week stay in Durham and had absolutely no problems getting in or out of the car park. The car park recognises your registration on entry and exit (no ticket involved) and you pay by entering your registration at the pay machine, accepts cash or card. Spacious car park, will definitely use again.

The useless, greedy owners need to invest some money in to this joke of a car park. Non of the payment machines accept contactless, only one accepts card payment and they can't take the new £20 notes - it has been this way for at least 6 months. When is this going to get sorted?
Update: They’ve finally went ticket free and you can actually pay using all forms of payment. They’ve pushed the price up to £2 an hour before 6pm (£1.50 after 6pm) but overall no issues so far.

The payment machines need updating/repairing so they all work, take newer notes & debit/credit cards, as there is no pedestrian space on the ramps between floors. As do the doors so they open fully.
The lift button identifiers also need replacing so you don't have to guess which to press. Also, if the level is -1 that's what the lift should say, not 0. It's unnecessarily confusing.
Too often one of the entrance lanes is closed and it's unclear as to why.
Improvements needed, really.

Doing monthly plan here fair price for indoor 24/7 CCTV probably the best car park so far

Well located for the sights and the shops. However manoeuvring room inside is tight, especially initial up ramp/right turn, after barrier. And poor pedestrian access that is safely separated from cars.

Good size spaces, take cards and well lit.
However, unless you are a local forget trying to access this in any way
Satnavs are unable to guide to it, shocking entrance location with absolutely NO SIGNPOSTS!!
If it is quiet expect to drive between the roundabouts 5 or 6 times
You seem to have to go through a time restricted road to get to it
Speaking to the local hotel, apparently this is a common problem!

The car park is clean, lit and secure. It offers a cheap evening rate of only £1.50 for parking after 6pm HOWEVER if you park 1 minute before 6pm, you will be charged the normal daily rates! Recently saw someone having to pay £5 instead of the £1.50 because they had entered the car park a few minutes early.

Not easy to get to at all and only going to get worse with all the buildings going up around it. Be sure to check access road restrictions at weekends . Cheap enough and bays are decent size but a very weird layout that involves driving up ramps on wrong side of the road. On exiting I discovered a series of traffic cones that I had to negotiate and I got confused.

Its a small car park, some confusion over how to get out when you're not meNt to be using lifts. Fairly reasonable prices

Lots of space for car parking👍

Wow this is probably the best car park ever. I drove in, parked and left. When I returned I paid and got in my car and drove away. 🙃

Very busy and clean. Well maintained with lots of lights. Good security. Not like the normal dark scruffy carpark.
