Reviews of Bruntsfield Links
K. M.
Seeing The Golf Tavern and, in front, the first golf course the world has seen, was indeed a reminder and a delight. Open not only on Sundays, you can hire golf clubs and balls to work your way through the 9-hole course. This small section of the Meadows is imbued with time-honoured history. Come and see for yourself.
J. R.
lovely bit of greenery here absolutely lush place for a pic nic and if you want to be away from the road side it’s a very quick 2 minute walk to the meadows we sat down at the links as it’s normally a bit more quite than the meadows and slightly higher up so you can get more of the sun while it lasts.
S. A.
Another lovely day, found a great spot on a bench for my lunch up at the top of the links. A very photogenic area in the middle of the city.
J. M.
Lovely place all year round, never as crowded as the meadows.
n.
A great city park with nice views of the Edinburgh Castle. There is ample space for children and it is nearby a lot of amenities. This winter there was snow and it was great for sledding!
D. M.
Large green area with pitch and put golf clubs and putters are available for hire. Great place to relax while enjoying the sunshine
A. M.
Beautiful spot to spend time. In summer benches to sit at and have a coffee from nearby Seller. Great for kids
b. b.
Wow, the weather was so beautiful today and a stroll through the Meadows was just wonderful.

I love the Meadows, it's so great having such a wonderful green space in the middle of Edinburgh. Depending on where you are, there are fantastic views over to Arthur's Seat. All in all, a beautiful jewel in Edinburgh's regal crown.
P. B.
Located just outside the city centre, this is a nice place to go for a walk. Lots of coffee shops nearby and places to eat too. There is a kids play park, cycling paths and a pitch and put golf course.
M. M.
Lovely green area l. Can even play putt putt over large area of the links. Also nice pub on the edge called Golf who will provide clubs and balls
S. B.
Beautiful large park next to the university of Edinburgh. Has children's play area towards the Meadows. Numerous benches where you can sit and enjoy a sunny day.
S. D.
Lovely views and lots of benches for sitting on. A wide variety of local coffee shops and takeaways near by. Great for cyclists as lots of pathways and cycle lanes. There is a family safe, fenced in area but no play park so bring your own entertainment if you have kids.
M. M.
Having such a lovely park in the middle of the city is really nice!
S. N.
The oldest golf links in the world - free! A tranquil area close to the centre with great views of Arthur's Seat and the castle.
L. C.
Quiter than Meadows park, but very close to city center and near Tollcross, people play golf in this park. Ideal for hang out. Is quieter than the meadows, have some trees on it.
P. S.
Great outdoor park close to the shop and pubs. Relax on links with a beer whilst looking over at Edinburgh's sky line. Pitch and putt also available!
H. M.
Smashing place to scatter some mysterious ashes that were salvaged from your mate's granddad's skip. Lots of open space, good views of the Crags and Arthur's Seat, surrounded by leafy trees and nice cafes. Whoever it was will be happy here. RIP.
J. W.
Out for a nice casual lunch with friends.
So happy to see all the bulbs coming through
J. C.
Great space and views. Slight incline but not overly taxing on the legs.
S. G.
Fantastic spot to slow down and breath fom the rush in the city. Peaceful path to the medows
F. S.
Toilets need improvement- lovely park
J. g.
Nice place to go for a walk or enjoy the sound of nature in the heart of the city.
P. N.
Visiting on a beautiful sunny and mild Spring Sunday morning when it was busy with lots of folk making the most of the outdoors meant I saw this place at its best. There are public beaches to sit down and watch. There is a playground for children and other areas for activities.
L. A.
Lovely spot for walks and great views
D. K.
This is a brilliant place for a stroll, walk the dog, sit and drink a coffee and get some fresh air. It's always clean and tidy thanks to the council and the residents who are very proud of the place. Also a couple of good notice boards with some history and info round about.
M. N.
Perfect day for a walk in the park! Aspirational housing with a very green grass what more can you ask for!
G. T.
Large green area with ample space for dog walkers and sports, sitting directly under Arthur's seat. It has stunning views.
p. r.
Excellent place to play and area is very good
M. R.
Open green space to chill in if you are sight seeing and want to relax in nice weather. or good for a quick dog walk. Fun for smaller kids as it has golf course contours like drumlins type typography.
N. A.
Beautiful part of Edinburgh leading onto the Meadows and with beautiful views!
D. C.
Lovely grassy area with views of the castle. Close to numerous shops and cafes in Marchmont, Tollcross and Bruntsfield. Litter droppers are ritually slaughtered by having their throats slit, so remember take your litter home.
L. 6.
Have been playing pitch'n put here for years, since I was a kid.
It's a bit rough round the edges, as it's not a golf course.
Take a sand iron and a putter and off you go.
Highly recommend you go.
J. M.
I people watched a lot here from the car. I saw one guy with a big yellow jacket walk past twice so I was really curious to know where he was going. He wasn't even in a rush which was weird.
I'd really like to know what he was up to.
Anyway, the trees are pretty cool and it smells of wood and ice cream
R. G.
There is a public toilet, now open till 8pm the guy told me. Nice wee park space to sit on benches and closed areas for dogs. Been coming here years
A.
Great place for a quiet walk and to sit on the many benches throughout! There are lots of great shops about too
A. A.
I lived in the local area for ~10 years and have many fond memories of this park. But, I would say that this is a rather dull place to go for any kind of walk, having no real natural beauty. However, it does provide an decent place to meet with friends, with large, but boring, open areas. When I did live around here, I preferred to walk to the Hermitage of Braid, which is far more Edenic in it's qualities.
D. C.
A wonderful place to either walk through or sit down at with a drink or meal from a local restaurant/cafe.
It is safe, has toilets and is looked after
F. N.
Love burntsfield links! Quieter than the meadows for reals! There a small golf course there so try not to sit in it by accident unless you have Neo type dodging skills 😂.
s. f.
Very pleasant walk on a nice day
P. M.
Beautiful outdoor space in Edinburgh. From walking (with or without) your pet to cycling. You can do it all with plenty of spaces to sit and relax.
K. R.
Nice to have a picnic. Play park is small but ok for a quick visit.
S. T.
Great place and lovely for some lunch
M. T.
Popular green space with mini golf.
B. M.
Gets a bit busy at present because of Covid restrictions. Still a lovely place though. Parking nearby is very expensive. Sometimes cycle as there are a couple of good cycle paths. Walk on till you reach Victor Hugo's cafe for some great coffee and food Some of the best around.
P. E.
Fantastic place to view the NYE fireworks from. Happy New Year!
D. S.
Fantastic park.space with great views of the city skyline and an eclectic mix of.locals! A visit to the swing park had a father in full country laird tweeds next to a hippie with tie die everything...including hair! Just dont expect to.hear a local.accent
A. T.
Love the Links! Great place right next to a great corner of town. Grab a Bross Bagel, an artisan coffee and picnic, saunter and/or let the kids and dogs have a run around!
C. M.
Beautiful parkland, walks and short hole golf with cafes, shops surrounding it 👍
廖.
I like this park! But there is no chair to site down when grass is wet
C. P.
Good place to stretch one's legs and take in the fresh air after parking one's car.
Would be a much better place if it wasn't for Covid.
There are some nice pubs and cafés in the area.
Great to still have these green open space in the city!
s.
Cold day but lots of people around, walking their nice dogs, oug with toddlers or sitting on benches having coffee and food from the lovely local cafes. Nice community feel
R. L.
A peaceful place that is often a lot calmer that the neighbouring Meadows. A great place to sit with a coffee and watch the Bruntsfield world go by.
r. d.
Great Park for dog walkers, families, picnics, sunworshipping when it's out, so busy if sunny.
F. H.
Really nice place for families and kids. There are benches to sit. Mostly clean and tidy place. Close city centre and lots of places to eat from!
N. H.
Always a pleasant green space close to good coffee shops so a fine way to spend some time and enjoy views of Edinburgh in the background
P. M.
Fantastic. It was a big family celebration in Edinburgh with a christening. The whole family in teams, adults and children.
M. M.
Gorgeous green space in the heart of the bonnie Scottish capital Edinburgh. Putting greens ,tennis courts, play parks and the occasional tent venue. Perfect for dog walks and sports very well maintained !
J. W.
Lovely place when the sun is shining, bring a BBQ, picnic some drinks, music and have a relaxing day.
S. W.
A great place to enjoy the sun. Both the playgrounds are good for children of many ages, although the smaller one is slightly better suited to younger children. There are many places to eat and grab a bite nearby, and there is a few bike paths around it, which are good for simply a quick ride, or to get to any of the nearby restraunts, museums, etc. It has a golf course which is fine from an amateur point of view. It is also very good for dogs.
S. D.
My local green space! Great for families.
J. d.
Pretty but humans have destroyed it. Rather dirty , feel for the guys who are tasked to pick up other people's rubbish.
A. S.
Great place for a stroll, game of "pitch and put" or even croquet would you believe. The children's play park is fenced and clean. With a shady pub and coffee shops overlooking it's a really great spot in the city centre.
S. A.
A vast open green space that seconds as a mini golf course/ pitch and putt. There is a children's playground attached. Good space for dog walkers. Can be quite active when there are those rare days of sunshine. Good views of the castle (fireworks) and Arthur's Seat.
T. D.
Great place to come and relax in the sunshine ☀️
J. C.
It's small (compared with the adjacent Meadows) but a popular meeting place on sunny afternoons. Easy to pick up drinks or snacks on Bruntsfield high street and carry to the links for Al fresco refreshment.
P. C.
Good park space to sit in the sun and enjoy your hipster nonsense coffee and cake.
E. S.
One of the wonderful things about Edinburgh is the green spaces within the city. It makes a city walk so much more enjoyable.
The space is not only used for golf, but has seats, so that you can watch the world go by and cycle paths. Watch out for the cycle lane! I inadvertently joined the path between cycle signs, and didn't realise the meaning of the 'white line' down the middle of the path until I had a 'nearly close encounter' with a cyclist.😀
A. R.
Brilliant for walking through or playing golf. You cam get golf clubs from the golf tavern for a deposit. Amazing place to be. Especially if you get a day of sunshine or a walk through the links in Autumn with falling leaves. It's also great for picking up Pokemon if you play Pokemon Go.
W. C.
Decided to just walk wherever the road took us and came upon this wonderful park.
R. Y.
A pitch and putt (in summer) which you can play whenever. It's great. Also great views of the city. Great place to relax or walk a dog. Don't burn the grass with barbeques though.
G. W.
Great for a few holes of golf on the short course. Rent some clubs from the golf tavern for £5 if you don't have any. Watch out for people walking on the course and not paying attention.
I. B.
Nice and sunny but very windy . Good park lot of people playing all different sports .Nice to sit with a coffee and cake and watch people playing .
M. K.
A nice place to go for a picnic or a BBQ on a sunny day. Ideal location to play some frisbee or to walk your dog. During term on sunny days it can be a bit crowded as there are two high schools nearby but that does not take away from the experience.
A. A.
Very nice place for waking
J. M.
Good for a stroll, great views of Edinburgh, plenty of cafes and pubs, close by.
N. N.
A lovely green space. Without litter.
T.
A don't have much to say as this park is well maintained and I generally have not problems when going there. I do however have a problem with the toilets there as they always stink and are never clean. Also the park could do with one or two more rubbish bins in convenient locations.
M. T.
Busy open space in city centre.
J. C.
Busy but space for a seat and strum. No BBQs and take home your litter people to keep it nice
A. F.
Wonderful public space on a slope with spectacular outlook over the city and Arthur's Seat. It has the 9 hole golf course which is a great way to spend a few hours. Nb. It can be one of the windiest parts of the city.
B. R.
Lovely place to sit & watch the world go by whilst enjoying one of the many gorgeous cakes etc available from the huge choice of shops next to here
K. S.
Lovely food and lovely service ! A must try
T. H.
Decent number of benches, but best in summer when you can sit on the open grass and there's spaces/bins for bbqs. Plenty space for kids, dogs, etc. to play including a fenced in area. designated cycle/foot path heads up towards edinburgh uni and the royal mile nicer and quicker than via tollcross.
S. D.
Lovely park between bruntsfield and the meadows. Always popular. No walls or hedges surrounding it so only extremely well trained dogs can be walked off lead. Lots of nice cafes around the edges though kiosk on the links appears to have shut down.
J. K.
Beautiful part of town. A view of Arthur's Seat, and the nearby churches and taverns make the links a picturesque oasis placed right in the heart of Edinburgh. Packed on hot summer days, and also has a pitch and putt golf course.
M.
Must have walked through here a handful of times on my visit, lovely amount of green and you are able to hear some fine musicians too.
Great for dog walkers.
R. M.
Great place for a walk with the dog an coffee
P. A.
Lively place, with lots of local shops around, just emerging from Meadows, makes with very approachable for walkers and Shoppers both.
G. B.
Great space to enjoy the sunshine . Pitch and Putt course , The golf tavern is close by which is a good watering hole . Plenty to do for the kids . Well kept and great views .
c. m. b. d.
Very good links, seats, well kept, nearby pins, eateries, shops and bus routes
D. H.
Lovely decoration. Really enjoyed. Staff very good. Only drawback was cold where we were sitting, with door open. Great we cld take our wee dog. Had fish and chips and cake
C. F.
Great for a walk and/or fresh air on a nice day. Quite a few cyclists and it can make a journey less "city like" considering you are not too far from the centre of it.
I like to perhaps get a takeaway coffee close by and stroll along the pathways and embrace the fresh air. Other days I like to powerwalk/ jog very lightly with my music playing it's a great escape.
In the summer it can get pretty busy with BBQs when the weather is sunny. Also sometimes kids or grown ups play football, or at least kick on about. This would all be on the grassy sections though. There are also a few dog walkers, less than I expected though.
There are several benches around so you wouldn't struggle for a seat, if it were a distance you may not manage in one go. However, I am aware people those physical abilities are lessened, a seat can be vital to decide whether the distance is manageable or not.
The distance of the pathed ways are by no means long in my opinion. To be honest because its rather open as the grass is shirt and not many trees you can see tge distance of where the path ends for the majority of cases anyway. The pathways allow pedestrians/cyclists to make your time here as long or short as you want. You can walk round the entire circumference a few times or just cut across? Also you can get to the meadows via bruntsfield links.
The public toilets are shut here and have been for some time.
A. b.
Great view of the city. Good atmosphere for the fireworks.
R. H.
The most perfect spot to catch some sun, barbeque sausages and play Frisbee.
A. A. R.
A beautiful park at the heart of the city. You can bring golf clubs if you are into it.
E. T.
Very nice park to walk around and spend time to relax yourself.
D. B.
Nice for a walk mid week
K. S.
Edinburgh has many green spaces and this is one of them. Fantastic to wander round in with the Meadows nearby. Peaceful and colourful.
S. F.
Lovely area for a wander around & lunch
R. F.
If you are a child or a parent, the park is great to entertain kids of all ages. The grass is perfect for picnics and for dog walkers to play with their dogs.
K. M.
Great place to go plenty of space near by shops for drinks. And a bite to eat.
m. b.
It's a park, green, has a putting green and no boating lake, except when it rains a lot.
G. W.
Lovely little park on the edge of Bruntsfield. An extention to the Meadows but without the people if you want somewhere quiet.
Also has a pitch and putt as part of the park so watch your head!
V. P.
The tinier but less crowded park next to Meadows. Bonus views overlooking Castle AND Arthur's Seat/Crags.
G. T.
Beautiful and fun pitch and put course with 36 holes. You can rent clubs at the golf tavern and a cheeky Guinness afterwards
B. S.
A fantastic green space near the centre of Edinburgh. Great view of the castle. Free pitch and putting golf course - bring your own clubs and balls
P. M.
Free if you bring your own clubs, Bruntsfield links is one of the things that makes Edinburgh. Workers can head over for 9 holes on their lunch break or for those with more time can play all 36. It's not exactly championship standard, neither are the hire clubs from the Golf Tavern, (just next to the starter box), but a fantastic facility in the city nonetheless.
s. m.
Free mini golf (pitch and putt) about 30holes,,well maintained,, just need to take your own golf ball and club,, great for a few hours fun,, and it's FREE in the centre of Edinburgh,,
B. w.
Bruntsfield Links is a lovely walking, cycling, chilling park area in the centre of Edinburgh. It's situated between keys areas of Edinburgh. Near by is the Meadows, Tollcross, Marchmont and Morningside areas of this beautiful city. There is a pitch and put on the links. There is also a nice pub called the gold tavern. I think you call also get golf clubs and balls from here to use on the links. I nearly forgot, the views of Arthur Seat are staggeringly beautiful.
A. S.
Great for a walk or to sit out in the sun, this is one of Edinburgh's more popular green spaces for which it is framed, take a picnic and a blanket!
M. T.
Very scenic Park with great views of that part of Edinburgh. Has a small but equipped play Park. Also pich n put. An excellent viewpoint for the festival fireworks
T. V.
one of the great lungs of Edinburgh. Superb views of the castle without the crush and a real chance to play golf on one of the oldest golf layouts in the world. really its putting but still fun. bring your own clubs.
J. R.
A great, vast green space - with its golf course with hire of golf clubs from the aptly named Golf Tavern - in the centre of Edinburgh to enjoy a good walk and a view of Arthur's Seat and walk to various parts of the city in peace.
S. W.
Pitch and putt right in the heart of the city. Beautiful views of Edinburgh Castle. Plenty of seating, paths, and cycle lanes. There's also a kids play park.

It's a nice park where you can relax and do a picnic. It's quite big and easy to get to.
C. H.
Nice place to hang out and people watch. Very glad there's a public toilet.

A. H.
A great opportunity to play pitch and putt in a lovely setting. You can use your own clubs or hire them from the nearby Golf pub.
S. L.
Super course in the summer months, new holes and bunkering take it to top position of Edinburgh courses imo.
I. W.
Slightly less crowded part of the Meadows, closer to food and drink 😊
A. G.
Lively park, every ones so friendly, good jogging spot
J. T.
Amazing little golf course. Holes are short enough to make me feel like a good player. Views to Arthur's Seat as you waywardly pitch the ball just cap it off.
J. W.
Lovely central grassy area for relaxing & resting.
N. S.
Easy to feel classy on these hills so grassy
When the sun is shining you won't hear me whining
D. C.
Lovely restful escape, one of the many green spaces in Edinburgh - except that on the day, there was the local school's sports day which was very noisy but in a joyful kind of way!
D. S.
Pleasant open spsce near the centre of Edinburgh. The main 36 hole short golf course is closed until late spring but a shortened winter course is open at present

A great place to walk through especially after walking up from the city centre. It feels peaceful here and there is very little traffic noise.

Gorgeous park with so much room to run around and play. Perfect for dogs or a game of frisbee.
