Great Veg and local options. You'll also find some bread makers, jam, honey, sweets... all with a great view of the Edinburgh Castle.
If you happen to be walking by the parking garage on Kings Stable, Castle View Terrace is above, just walk up the steps on either side of the parking garage

Lovely open air farmers market overlooked by Edinburgh Castle, with a good range of stalls, some of which are weekly fixtures, others rotate in.
Currently they're managing numbers of people walking through, and hand gel is available on the entry and exit points.
Great range of produce, some lovely local companies and the stall holders are friendly.

Bucolic open-air fair where local farmers sell their produce. Everyone is very kind! Very high quality products. have a little bit of everything. Everything that is sold is very fresh. Several stalls offer tasting. There is room to sit and rest and eat something. Super recommend to know this market!
J. B.
Great farmers market. We had two amazing sausage rolls and a superb American cheese cake. Wonderful to see lots of local producers.
S. S.
Loved going here to sample the local, home produce bought a lot of really good products. Very friendly and really enjoyed the experience.

If I lived in Edinburgh, I'd probably try and come here every week for my regular shopping. A great selection of groceries, meat and fish, ready made food and gifts. Defo one to stop by if you're visiting as well!
A. H.
Good place to buy locally sourced meat, cheese, veggies, bread, etc. A bit small, not much in the way of ready-to-eat food, but a decent selection of groceries. Definitely worth dropping by if you're already in the area, but it's not big enough to really spend much time in.
Also, for the baked goods out in the open--would've preferred they kept display products only out in front, and the actual customer products further back. I got what I thought was the last focaccia, bare and unprotected at the edge of the table, but then they pulled out a bunch more somewhere under the table. Wish they'd given me one of the clean ones instead 😬. I mean, you can wash veggies and cook meat but you can't wash baked bread.

All kinds of farmers for sale, i picked up glen, an experienced sheep farmer from argyle. The wife bought a young farmer, bobby, says hes a belter! Market set atop a brutalist style vehicle storage facility. A bit gloomy as a poorly designed old house sits atop the neighbouring volcanic plug, blocking the sun from the east. I prefer my farmers big and strong and ive never went home without a meaty treat😁
G.
I love this market, products are really good and even though is a bit small, you are able to find great variety of meat, fish, fruits, bakery and more products.
J. (.
Great place to spend your Saturday, it's not a long stretch of shops but good enough to get some fresh products and on the go breakfast! With the great view of castle.
L. P.
Great small scale farmers' market with superb produce, in the shadow of the Edinburgh Castle.
A. A.
Absaloutly what it should be, proper farmers, food from farms etc and not being in Edinburgh for over 45 years what did I find but proper Mutton pies
(for others scotch pies ) and pastery was based on lard pure perfection
J.
A clean, lively market with a lot of nice products, ranging from vegetables, seafood, dairy, and even pies and desserts!!! I tried a couple of desserts and pies from different stands. They’re all of high quality, which I think meet the generally higher price than supermarkets. Even a poor student like me go there from time to time.
If you’re lucky you might even see some street performance there!
R. !.
Loved it, several good stalls... not as many stalls as expected which is why the 4 stars...2 hour drive thinking more than 20 stalls would be there. Limited stalls at that with little fish and may selections available. Was here from (9-11) Regardless, if you enjoy salsa there is a fantastic couple they're that is selling amazing salsa with 3 different levels of heat. They're very kind and happy to explain their salsa. Watch out for the some of the fruit and veg people as I paid £5 for a small bundle of fruit with plums, cherries and an apple just to get into the car to have one to eat to find that both plums were covered in mold on the bottom... wasted money.
R. R.
Very cute market, I loved walking through it. It reminded me of ones I have been to on the states which I have missed. The venders I encountered were very nice and the products were pretty good.
D. G.
Great place to go if you'd like to buy fresh veggies and meat. Also some other stuff like cheese, beer and scottish tablet is also available. Worth checking Farmers' Market facebook profile to see what will be available on the market
H. T.
A lovely array of options, from Fresh Milk to choice cuts of meat, fresh caught Scottish Seafood, to artisan breads, cheese and even Shetland wool.
The fresh Produce is lovely, and there's now a store that sells fresh lion's Mane mushroom and Shitake.
Love the stall holders.
A. A.
Great experience it’s only opened on Saturday from 9-2 pm , you can find a lot of things there.
K. M.
I love the farmers market, it’s great for buying locally produced fruit, veg, meat and fish. You can get everything you need here from bread to coffee too. I especially recommend the Brewsters stall who sell everything from pedigree beef, lamb and chicken to honey and whatever else they manage to grow on their smallholder farm in Newburgh, Fife. All the stall holders are really friendly and the prices are great considering their prime location on Castle Terrace, right underneath Edinburgh castle.
E. R.
Friendly folks providing a variety of quality and interesting produce. Not the cheapest but keep food miles lower.
P. S.
A lovely little surprise. Parked in the NCP car park and stumbled across the market. Some wonderful people selling traditional and less traditional things alike. Face masks required at the time of COVID so felt very safe and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend a pop through
D. G. (.
One of the tastiest farmers’ markets around; plus the scenery is perfect.
K. C.
Very lovely market wihh a good selection of shops. Great for Christmas gifts.
W. B.
Love the fresh fruit and veg stall from Perth. Rhubarb tarts and shortbread really tasty at the Brenda Leddy stall. Well organized looking forward to next visit to try out new tastes. Great to see local produce in one place.
K.
Wish there were more stalls to shop, yet the few here were awesome
J. M.
Bit pricey for my own taste. However, if you're looking for very fresh seafood and other produce from Scottish businesses, it's the place to go on a Saturday morning in Edinburgh!
N. S.
Nice market, picked up some lovely chocolate and cheese. Get there early though!
J. S.
Great local produce, amazing take away foods
S. G.
Great farmers market. Very busy. Worth a visit .
S. D.
It's lovely to see the market is still on, reduced though due to the current circumstances (food stalls only) but everyone is friendly and upbeat. Please support the local farmers and shops and enjoy the amazing food they offer, you won't regret it.
c. c.
Small weekend market but has great choices for food to buy .
S. H.
Worth a wander round but found it to be pretentious and therefore a tad overpriced for what was on offer.
s. S.
Good local produce, friendly people. Similar products on stalls with few exceptions. Wish there was more of a range.
S. W.
Very friendly and knowledgeable stall holders, wonderful produce that is fresher than anything you'll ever get at a supermarket. Love the hogget lamb from Annandale and Dave from SA with his superb range of olive oils. It's obviously not as big as many other Farmers markets but I suspect in the current situation the number of stalls will increase.
S. C.
What a great farmers market, it sits in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle.
There is everything you could ever want, coffee, fruit, veg, seafood, meat and chocolates.
I highly recommend Arran cheese and the handmade sausage rolls.
This is a must visit for anyone who loves food and wants to support local.
L. T.
The best selections of local produce. Food qualitly was always amazing. They have more varieties of meat and vegetable than supermarkets and much fresher with about the same price. I recommend to go to the farmer market at Castle Terrace every Saturday
M. P.
You can find a little bit of everything, from fruits and vegetables to soap! Wonderful
S. D.
This is my go to place for fresh Fruit and Veg. They always have really great producers, who grow the products locally. It's also really lovely to know many of the people who grow your food. There is also plenty of options for Meat, Fish, Cheeses, Chocolates and Ferments. In my opinion it is well worth checking out next time you're in town.
D. “. E.
Some great produce, worth a visit .support local producers 👍👍👍👍👍😁
M. W. (.
It's great to see local produce in one place. Prices for similar local vegetables are much cheaper in shops around the city. Personally I prefer this one over the one on Stock Bridge on Sunday.
C. S.
Such great produce and lovely honest people trying to make a living. This is where I like to buy what I eat. And when I lost my wallet, it was picked up and returned to me a day later. Fantastic!!
F. W.
I enjoyed my visit to the market today. I had an enjoyable time. All the stall holders I cam in contact with were very pleasant and helpfull. I made a number of excellent purchases today. Extremely pleased with the visit.
M. M.
Excellent Saturday Market with a wide range of products at various stalls
h.
Kedar Cheese fresh milk is a must! Bring your own bottle for a slight discount. Also love the seafood and bakery food options available at the market.
M. N.
Amazing market close to Edinburgh castle. We enjoyed the flavours of some cheese :)
M.
Very nice market. Just make sure to check the Facebook group if you want to make sure a certain stall is there, as not all stallholders come every week
D. L.
Loved this market. Full of fantastic organic products. Coffee and cakes are incredibly tasty. We stopped at a pastry stand too for a sausage roll and a haggis roll. Best rolls I've ever had. Very easy to reach from the centre of the city. There's an astonishing view of the side of Edinburgh Castle from here.
D. A. S.
Great stuff, great people. I will go there every Saturday
C. L.
Good market, not as many stalls as I was lead to believe would be there but still decent. One seller was selling mouldy fruit though.
C. D.
Really neat way to get insight into the Scottish community. We were able to have a wide sampling of foods- oysters on the half shell, tomato soup, and venison sausage sandwich. All in all very nice and the view of the castle is hard to beat. Stop by and support the local small business owners!
D. M.
Local vegetables, meat and fish. What more can I ask for? Many stalls also take orders in case you want something more specific for their next visit.
F. E.
A little expensive but worth the money, buy local!
G. G.
Despite the weather on Saturday, there was a great turnout of stallholders and a fairly constant footfall. Excellent produce offered at fair prices. Well worth a visit!
p. h.
Good quality food and drink.....Nice cheesecake stall
D. B.
Amazing produce, bought lots and will be back next week for more!
I. O.
I'd not been before but loved it. It's so good to get close to the people who trade and to come away with fresh organic vegetables, meat and fish, and bread, without the plastic. It's generally not cheap, but probably what they charge is what real food really costs to be wholesome and sustainable for both the environment and the people trying to make a living of the produce. We're so misled by the supermarkets who will sell us cheap stuff mostly in an attempt to then sell us lots more stuff that we don't need but are made to desire through all the clever advertising and packaging. It's fully accessible as it's on the pavement and if you come early you should be able to find a nearby parking spot with your blue badge on a single or double yellow line without restrictions. Not sure if there are public accessible toilets anywhere nearby, but the filmhouse on Lothian Road has a great cafe /restaurant plus totally accessible everything.
L. B.
Lovely, as always, even though it was wet and cold
R. R.
Great place to shop for local produce
M. P.
Great selection of game meat, fish and vegetables. Definitely a must see!
S. C.
This is my favourite Farmer's Market in Edinburgh. It offers a wide range of local products, from fruits & veg, to meat, fish, and eggs. I have a few stands I am a regular at but there are also some that only make an appearance occasionally. I also like that most of the stands a tree e very environmentally conscious, allowing you to recycle egg cartons, plastic tubs, and even refill your own milk bottle. Some of the fruit and vegetables are imported, but they are clearly marked and there is more local stuff than I would have thought Scotland's climate would allow. If you like a bargain look for crates of reduced "ugly" produce.
U. K.
The market was a surprise to me when I visited Edinburgh. It was a chance find. The car park was right in front of this. The items sold here had variety and originality. Tasted some of the food items and they were great. It was a little hidden gem that I found during my travel
G. M.
Good variety of things to sell, cheeses, soaps, meats, coffees, veggies, pickeled veg, honey, chocolate, tourist maps.. there's even an info stand for support.
There's a beautiful view of the castle from here. There's about 30 stalls in all so it's not overwhelming. Up the road there's another market which sells hand made crafts and more.
R. M.
This is a real treat to go here. It really takes me back to my childhood going grocery shopping with my mum. It's a very historic location as well as farmers would have been trading their products for many years in this area , in the shadow of Edinburgh castle. Real traditional products and a friendly atmosphere. You really can taste the difference in their food.
D. N.
Great place to get some hot sauce
I. B.
We came to Edinburgh for a weekend and did realize that there is a Farmers' Market on Saturday. I am happy that I had a chance to be there at this time. They had a huge range of homemade food, vegetables and many other things. I have never seen that big market before. It is worth to go there.
P. P.
Good variety of stalls and products
L. R.
Socially distanced and everyone wearing masks. Hand sanitiser provided.
S. H.
So small
K. S.
Visiting the market for organic and local veggies at East Coast Organics.
c. h.
I have started to do most of my veg shopping here as a step to reducing my plastic and carbon footprint. I can also pick up a tasty late breakfast. I look forward to more variety as it grows.
B. E.
I have enjoyed coming here for a number of years whilst in Edinburgh. Currently it is my regular Saturday morning outing to refill my milk bottle, get a sumptuous sausage roll, some batch roasted coffee beans and organic meat and veg.
J. R.
Located in a handy central location with a good variety of food on offer - some of which won't be found in supermarkets or their local subsidiaries.
M. M.
Fresh produce and reasonable priced.
S. M.
Wonderful place to buy things from local producers. Now a stall holders cooperative.
S. B.
Better management of movement needed - a one way system or a way of stopping people milling about. Haddington farmers market is much better organised
J. R.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Farmers Market & able to get foods there that I can't get in supermarkets. i.e. Arbroath Smokies, Pheasant & Organic Pork roast 😊
M. S.
I love it there! It has foods of very good quality, they are all from local farms and the people are all super friendly! A great way to support small local businesses and spend a chilled morning :)
S. M.
Bought some great Ginger Beer and Strawberry wine 😁
G.
Excellent stall of food cheese, bred. I went for the chilly sauces... yum
S. M.
The farmer's market is a great place to buy great local products. Ideally located, with a perfect view on the castle, the market is very close to the centre and the shopping area.
You will find fresh organic vegetables, meat, poultry and games you won't necessary find anywhere else. There is a venison producer, Seriously Good Venison. They are my last great discovery of the market. They offer whisky and venison sausages (yum!) and a venison filet to die for (yes I assure you!)
Don't miss this market on Saturday morning to feel you kitchen with delicious fresh products from Scotland!
The only negative point of the market is the reduced hours (I find hard to go on Saturday morning sometimes :P) and the wind!!! (it's always very windy there!)
M.
Nice little stands where you can buy food from the local farmers such as fresh fruits, self-made jam , honey or hazelnut cream, cheese, pastries, etc.
Just smaller than I thought, and at the size I wouldn't consider it a tourist attraction , but when nearby worth to have a look.
S. S.
Top quality produce - meat, veg, cheese and loads of other things - direct from the people who farm, grow and produce the items. They are knowledgeable, passionate about what they do and worth getting to know.
S. S.
Haggis and black pudding roll were the highlight, other stalls were also delicious especially the banana blossom pie with quinoa salad. The only downside to this market is that it's quite small
..
Amazing fresh food - meat, fish, hot pies and burgers, charcuterie, cheese, veg, crafts, pastries, too much to list. All made by the very people selling the products so they can answer any questions. Couldn't recommend enough, must visit if you're in the area.
I. B.
It was okay a few stalls with a lot of good stuff .A lot of people from other places in Scotland and England .Could not beleive that one all the way up here can,t pay them but it was fine to see.
P. A. H.
A place for my weekly shop. Fresh fruit and veg, assorted cheeses and breads, soaps, honey, etc. Plus meat-y things that as a vegetarian I pay no attention to! Breathtaking views of the Castle.
L. H.
Cute little farmer's market, there's probably around 12-15 stalls altogether. Clearly a local's favorite, as I saw many families picking up fresh produce here. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, I loved the apple juice stand, the biltong lady (amazing venison & lamb biltong, perfectly spiced!) and baked good store. A great market to grab some coffee and lunch.
B. w.
The Edinburgh farmers market is great. I do alot of my buying from a stall called hugh grierson. An organic farmer who sells the most amazing grass fed beef. They also sell lamb, pork and chicken. They also sell boxes and trays of free range organic eggs...delicious. The stall opposite is west coast organics who sell the most amazing fruit and vegetables. The market is busy, so for a nice coffee and a view of Edinburgh castle this is the place. Fresh bread, cakes etc it's all here right in shadow of the castle. After I'm finished with the farmers market I walk along a little, drop down the stairs into the Grassmarket and go to another market that sells clothes, craft and food. Love it!!
M. W.
I've been to quite a few of these since moving back into the city. Great place to meet a range of local producers, shops, groups and locals. You can get vegetables, meats, bakery, condiments, etc. You can buy produce to take home, eat at one of the stalls serving food/drink or both. All under the backdrop of the castle. It's every Saturday and your can check their site and social media accounts to find out who will have stalls each week.
N. S.
So many options and everyone was so lovely to talk to! Definitely will be making this market part of my weekly routine! Loved it!
D. C.
Great selection of ingredients and suppliers. Hot food available to enjoy also. Plus the feel good factor of supporting and interacting with our local producers.
A. G.
I'm a big ambivalent about this farmers market and them in general, on the plus side interesting range of products, mainly good quality, friendly service. Hence the four stars. However, quite pricey and too niche.
G. L.
Great food market, there is good vegan and gluten free options, fresh veggies and meat directly from the farm, as well as nice soaps, artisian chocolates, coffee and a brilliant view of the castle.
H. T.
Eclectic and delightful atmosphere full of fresh bread, pies, meats and fruits.
U. Y.
A saturday routine for me...fantastic location, great selection of vegetables, fruits, bread, eggs and poultries...Brewster is wonderful with its offers of duck and chicken eggs, chickens, guinea fowls, and wild flowers..addicted to duck eggs...coffee corner is also very good...
K. C.
Both unusual food items, like confit pigeon and ginger kraut to normal seasonal veges, fish and bread. Good for a look see and photos, with the Castle as a background. Not cheap.
E. M.
Brilliant farmers' market, featuring fantastic fresh produce. Lots of takeaway food too, including venison haggis and buffalo burgers! Some local artisan shops have stall, e.g. the wonderful Chocolate Tree - handmade chocolate from Bruntsfield.
L.
I LOVE this famers market. It's totally romantic with the castle looming over you the whole time you're there. Plenty of reasonably priced organic local fruit & vege, lots of wild caught fish & grass fed meat - a bit more pricy, but very tasty and you get what you pay for. Very good bread, cheese, and other vendors. I always get a burger or a pork sandwich to make the experience complete. Yumm!
C. B.
Open today for socially distanced buying. Good to see it open. Bought sausage rolls and cakes.
J. P.
Great range of products direct from producers. Organic veg, good bread, and good fish or meat stalls. Best location for a farmers' market in the world. Not cheap though!
h. l.
Been once and it was lovely. Lots of stalls to look around and everyone was very friendly and happy to answer any questions about produce they were selling. I would definetly go again.
T. B.
Really nice farmer's market with lots of regional products. If you prefer the fresh shopping straight from the producer this is the place to go to.
R. S. (. L. R.
Fantastic range of produce from local suppliers ticking all boxes - highlights include the veg by Phantassie (from East Lothian) and Tay Valley Fruits as well as local artisan producers such as The Chocolate Tree and Falko. Great variety & consistent quality.
k. s.
Lovely experience great mix of stuff to buy food, soap and hand spun yarns, hand made woollen products all from farmers.
M. S.
Great choice 👌
L. M.
Best buffalo burger and organic and fresh vegetables. Fruit juices also.
T. P.
Great people, excellent quality of products. You can buy some organic fruits and vegetables not mentioned meat and have some delicious food like pulled pork or really tasty burger.
a. W.
Mostly food (of course), but varied. Game, red meat, fish, vegetables, cheeses, jams and chutneys. All looked good and pretty reasonable prices. This fresh stuff was really fresh.
M. Y.
Great place to go on Saturday mornings. I nice selection of different vendors. Come hungry, as there as plenty of tempting goodies to catch your fancy.
r. b.
Nice market, fresh quality products available. Veggie, fish, meat, cheese, bread
C. R.
High quality stuff here, it's a proper farmers market where every stall sells food (not one of those where there's 2 food stalls and the rest sell craft knickknacks). The Scottish Brie I bought went down very well at Christmas.
T. R.
The bread must be made by the dough of god's
s. k.

T. J.
Really nice! Small but such awesome atmosphere, a nice sidestep on our way to the castle!
P. S.
A great range of local products. Populated by a pashmina and puppy type crowd. Not cheap but a really cool selection of breads, cheese, veggies and cakes.

I. G.
Nice dairy products made with love, good quality vegetables and fruits
C. H.
It's an okay market, nice little stands with tasty local produce. But it is small, and if it is cold, uninviting. More what you would expect in a small village.
P. R.
God I love Scotland especially Edinburgh.. I will visit again no matter how many times its still have that authentic feeling to explore more
D. B.
Would be nice to see more stalls, more variety, the ones that are there are nice, enough people come to visit to allow a much bigger market though.
G. P.
Amazing fresh food. Prices are not at all expensive, plus you get organic food.
D. E.

Lovely wee market full of food, treats and veg if you're looking for something special or different
a.
Great seafood, produce, local honey, jams, baked goods, and wild game when in season. Everything you crave is here.
T. H.
Like to get meat here from ridleys game butcher.
Sad it closes so early though and do wish it was more similar to English markets where its a cheaper shop not an upmarket shop. But the culture isn't here for that.
A. K.
Great market in a beautiful location. Note that the page says that it closes four but may close earlier if poor turnout/rain.
N. G.
Absolutely fantastic opportunity to buy some high quality products.
A. M.
Excellent selection of different foods and a lovely setting. Great atmosphere
V. N.

J. C. L.
A great farmers market in a great setting one of the places you can get caurnie soap in Edinburgh city centre and similar for east lothian veg
L. O.
Good farmer's market in a great location. Nice open space with some benches nearby and the castle looming over you.
M. M.
Good quality produce at reasonable prices. Only downside is that the market is much smaller than it used to be.
C. S.
Great farmers market just under the castle.
D. N.
Getting back to normal after reduced vendors during lockdown
P. S.
Such a nice market. Farmers and independent dealers selling their goods in a wonderful atmosphere

(Translated) This Saturday’s agricultural product market is located under Edinburgh Castle in the city centre. The transportation is very convenient. There is a multi-storey car park below, which is suitable for both driving and public transportation.
There are a wide range of agricultural products, food, beverages, and hand made craft in the market. There are many types and choices. You can even find crops that are not available in general supermarkets~
There are also stalls of woollen and handmade soap here, and those who like the warmth and natural soap of handmade works are coming to stroll around~
Because there are many stalls selling fruits and vegetables and seasoning sauces, if you want to enjoy raw oysters at the seafood stalls, just add a little service charge, and the owner can help you find seasonings to match and enjoy on the spot.
If you’re hungry, there are also baking booths, handmade bread, cakes, milkshakes, beer, etc., so you don’t have to worry about finding food after shopping for a long time.
However, because it is an open-air market, it is inevitable that there will be food hygiene problems such as insects in the hot summer. It is recommended to visit in the morning and bring ice packs to store food that needs to be kept fresh.
