Reviews of Leith Links
H. M.
Walking through the park at night reminded me of the novels of Arthur Conan Doyle where he mentioned about the dog appearing out of the mist. 😂😂.. it’s a bit creepy to walk around the place at night and in the early mornings due to the fog! But i loved it!
J.
A great local park, with lots of space, a playpark, and a Sunday market on the croft. Really strong sense of community spirit and lots of good stalls.
I find the links a great spot to run as there's multiple paths and routes across the links, making it easy to avoid bumping into people, unless you want to.
Usually lots of dogs.
F. M.
Huge green expanse. Flat areas for cricket and picnics, a few mounds to chase small children up and down or to slid down in winter. Joins to the railway path for running, cycling or walking. Hosts interesting festivals throughout the year. On good transport routes. Fantastic play park for children. New-ish (early 2019) but didn't get used during lockdown so still in excellent upkeep.
J. C.
Huge and beautiful park in the heart of Leith. Plenty of space to go for a walk, exercise, or just enjoy a bbq.
You'll find a kids play park, community crofts, Sunday Market, tennis court, outdoor fitness machines, water fountain to refill your bottle, monuments and it's surrounded by many local cafes and restaurant.
It's a must if you live in the area!

Good open space... playpark, bowls and cricket... plus pitches for the beautiful game ⚽
Parking and even a stall selling nibbles nearby
I. A.
Great place for recreation! Green open space with tennis court and a couple of newly built playgrounds for children and also gardening sectors. Very alive and yet peaceful atmosphere here. Such a lovely park! Very popular indeed.
r. s.
Such a beautiful space. From the playground, community croft and playing fields it an amazing space with a strong sense of community. There are also lots of nice bars, restaurants and cafes/bakeries near by. Well worth a visit on a sunny day
G. O.
Nice place for everyone,
There are many dogs walking around in this park day and night as its located in the middle of Leith.
Only one downside here is too many dogs jobbies.
But overall, here is lovely park and very much loved place from people in Leith
J. S.
This is a lovely park/grass area to walk and hang out with friends. Obviously very quiet right now but will be a great place to meet when lockdown is over. Lots of places to sit and there are shops and cafes surrounding as well. Beautiful.
E. S.
This is a beautiful little dessert cafe. If you are looking for a bit of indulgence the deserts are amazing. It is gorgeous inside and the staff are lovely.
C. N.
A great public park, plenty of space, great communities and clubs, if you have a dog its a brilliant place to have it socialise with others.
There is also a large kids' play park, and a space that hosts a weekly market.
A.
A nice open green space in the middle of Leith, with a fun playpark which is particularly ideal for younger children. A few more challenging things for older children - other than the rope climbing frame - would be appreciated by families, I think. A few outdoor gym exercise machines are another feature of the park.
D. M.
Lovely park, great for to walk the dogs and take the kids to the park, or have a picnic, love to chill here and read a book on a nice sunny day.
J.
Good for dog walks, lots of green space. However, the park is not fenced everywhere so be careful with the roads nearby. Also has kids playground.
R. G.
A very good place to relax in summer time with family. Kids will enjoy.
P. M.
Lovely day quite busy but had a perfect spot for our football training session.
E. M.
A great way to keep fit, love it!!
N. B.
Good play park, nice big open green space. Lots of room for activities
j. w.
Nice place in town to walk around. Good little play park. No public toilets though.
J. B.
A lovely open green space that is large enough to find a quiet spot if you're seeking solitude.
Leith Links plays host to various events in the summer as well as being home to various clubs and activities.
There are some pieces of public art that are worth a look along with information boards that tell the history of the Links.
e. a.
The community work to keep the park tidy of rubbish. Dog walkers are friendly. The playpark is refurbished July 2019. You can spot yoginis, tumblers and tightrope walkers as well as fitness classes.
R. T.
Plenty space for kids plenty space for adults generally a good place to go to excellent during summer usually in the links it has a wee music festival seem to get bigger every year.
D. H.
Great Park to take the kids too lots to play on and park benches and tables if you want a picnic
S. S.
Wonderful petfriendly park with playground for kids to play. Well maintained.
E. B.
Was a great play park many moons ago but great youth of today are spoiling it for everyone else. I took my kids and there where other kids from the neighbourhood there and they seemed to think they owned the park and tried to stop my kids playing on the equipment.
W. R.
Was really nice sitting on the grass in Leith Links until a large group of ferral teenagers decided to burn toilet rolls a few meters away from me and making a mess everywhere, while swearing every second word they spoke. Local teens need better bringing up.
A. B.
Lovely park in the Leith area.
There is a playground for children and loads of space for running. Trees around in on the sides of all pathways.
Lighting is good at night although not extremely strong. You have dark patches but the pathways are lit decently.
B. M.
Great place to go for a walk with the family and pets
I. O.
I went to the climate change fair there as I was volunteering with the Salisbury centre's seed library project. It was a dry (mostly) but gusty day, but it was well set up to now social distancing etc. Downside was accessibility. Find for me with my two sticks, but I know from experience that maneuvering over has in a wheelchair is pretty hard work and the nearest toilets were a block away and I am not sure if they included an accessible one.
N. G.
Good outdoor place, lots of space and a very good green area.
B. H.
Huge space! Definitely enough space for everyone.
Small park ideal for the younger children and as already mentioned loads of space, plenty for ball games.
Could do with somehwhere for refreshments, though there is a small shop to the north of the park.
Great space for taking the kids or for a short walk close to the central town.
j. s.
Could do with a good tidy up and nice pot plants put down
A. M.
Great for walking the dog, people are friendly and plenty of space for outdoor activities
T. C.
The full moon saying bye at Leith Links
M.
Leith links is kind of a quiet area, good for the proximity to Portobello and the huge and relaxing Claremont Park
Also the cycling lane is very nice 🌸
N. k.
Its a park you can walk your dog,sit on a park bench absorb some vitamin d,read your book, people watch etc
S. n.
Nice big park with children are and places to take the dog.
F. T.
A huge open grassy area criss crossed by paved paths. Plenty of space for the kids to run off all that excess energy.
G. C.
There are many green areas in Edinburgh but I always enjoy a walk on the Links. It's a lovely place for a walk and space to relax or excercise.
L. M.
Popular leisure park. We were at the market on the croft which is held every Sunday. Locally grown produce from the allotments is sold here, other stalls include food (with vegan options), clothing, environmentally friendly goods. They have a stall to recycle plastics and one for all food wrappers before you leave the market to keep the area tidy. This is a community run market.
K. T.
Good park and large grass areas
M. B.
Great fun in summer but can be busy plenty to do fir kids between play park bike park and large grass covered areas although there is down sude cause not everyone picks up after there dogs and litter some times. Apart from the odd person everyone is friendly enough and welcoming enough for visitor to our city.
C. R.
Brilliant park for a wide range of ages of children. Good sand pit and really awesome pirate themed play equipment. Also good range of swings which is a must for us!
S. M.
Very helpful staff, great food and dog friendly. 5 stars
G. U.
A lovely open green space. Always plenty of room to enjoy yourself. Good for dog walking. Make sure you stop off at Mike English's for a breakfast roll or homemade soup, delicious food.
S. X.
Brilliant open space for chilling, dog walking, exercise. Ooriginal place where 1st Open was played, to rules drafted by golfer remembered in the statue.
H. S.
I use this park daily for poochie walks and I Jog through it to get to the beach.
I also use the kiddy swings & frames when my nephew visits and he loves it 😍
There are fruit Orchards by the cricket greens which are now producing fruit, like secret gardens.
There is a market on the 1st Sunday of every month in the allotment. I sat on rugged logs drinking green tea in the sunshine 😊
It's a park with a great deal of history, much worth a visit if you want to say you have been to the place golf was first played.
M. 7.
Lovely spacious park with recently upgraded play park, possibly the nicest one in the city and definitely one of the biggest in Edinburgh. Lots of benches, tennis courts and lots of greenery. Highly recommended!
a. s.
Love this park, great for a casual stroll or walk with children. Nice play park there as well but unfortunately liked by children from nearby school who come there for lunch and leave lots of rubbish behind..
p. k. S.
Good place for walk in the park cycling too
T. M.

I stay few meters away from Leith Links, its nice, clean & wide green grass bed is soothing for eyes. Ideal place for most types of outdoor sports & pet friendly. After dark, late at night its not the best place to be in.
F. C. H.
Really nice park and gardens for a relaxing time with family, friends or even to go on your own. Pet and children friendly.
S.
Really nice park in the heart of Leith
C. T.
Great example of a city park, a massive space for the dog (I hope they keep the middle road closed), and, I'm told by my young uns, an awesome play park.
I. C.
Love the Links. Great place to escape the concrete jungle for a while. Well looked after.
K. S.
Great public green space in the centre of Leith, suitable for all (most?!) Outdoor activities.
Tip - great flat running route for PB smashing (2 full loops approx 5K, 4 loops of either section 5K)
a. s.
Love this park, great for a casual stroll or walk with children. Nice play park there as well but unfortunately liked by children from nearby school who come there for lunch and leave lots of rubbish behind..
A. B.
Lovely park in the Leith area.
There is a playground for children and loads of space for running. Trees around …
T. H.
Lovely green open space, good transport to city and coast. Good local cafe, Bijou.
M. 7.
Lovely spacious park with recently upgraded play park, possibly the nicest one in the city and definitely one of the biggest in Edinburgh. Lots of benches, tennis courts and lots of greenery. Highly recommended!

R. B.
Great place to spend a sunny day 🌞😎

N. k.
Its a park you can walk your dog,sit on a park bench absorb some vitamin d,read your book, people watch etc
Z.
It's a good space a place to chill out
J. R.
We walked our dog on this park. It's vast, spacious and most dog walkers are friendly! Great place to play, have a picnic or just walk through to work if you work in the Leith area.
m. M.
Open area nice for walking ,fresh air
C. B.
Leith links is just a lovely park on Leith area of Edinburgh where you can take a breath from the city, enjoying sunshine, playing football, tennis, jogging, yoga, any activity you like to do on the grass, and absolutely don't miss the Leith Market on Sundays.
R. M.
Lovely sized park
K. H.
Excellent large space for dogs, children and local activities! Wonderfull community spirit.
Area is very well kept and maintained. Clean and tidy.
B. K.
Really great to have this wide open green space available. Good play park for kids, renewed in 2019. Community growing area and Sunday market at Leith Crops in pots, open tennis courts and community orchard (that last one just passed the cricket huts), route 10 to Portobello runs through the links too so easy access to the prom. Can get busy at times with Leith Athletic f.c. games, cricket games, personal training sessions and dog walkers. Good number of paths running through it, but some uneven patches due to tree roots. Could do with a wildflower garden, more bins/bins emptied more regularly. Often has a breeze due to coastal winds.
A. P.
A grass area is always nice
L. R.
Lovely park, with playground for children of all ages, numerous benches to rest those tired feet or to just sit and relax and watch the world go by. Hosts the annual Gala Day, Funfairs and other local events.Great for picnics etc in the Summer. Also Home ground for local Amateur football clubs of all ages. Was one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland, hence the name, Highly Recommended.
R.
Nice big open space for walks and barbecues
V. L.
I enjoyed taking my daughter to the park here for many years. We also have had lots of good times at the Leith galla day here
B. P.
It's a beautiful big park, full of cute puppies.
M. H.
Love the links. Great for jogging, dog walking under lovely mature trees and just watching the world go by. The play park is pretty hopeless for any child over the age of 3. Now with tennis courts.
M. C.
Nice place for a walk, to go out with your dog or to take kids out. There is a really good playground for the little ones. Park is clean and tidy.
F. k.
Amazing and beautiful, such a nice chilled walk with black water and someone was even playing the saxophone making it even more perfect on a chilled Sunday
W. C.
The area where there used to be a bowling green needs a bit of care. Seems to have been abandoned, then left to go to rack & ruin. More public benches in this area is needed. Lovely to sit there in the sunshine, watching the world go by. Very peaceful there.
J. A.
Great green space with walks, cycle tracks and kids play park. Other facilities include tennis courts and event spaces. Popular with parents and kids of all ages, this wanting to soak up sun and there's almost always a BBQ or two about on a hot summers day. Sporty activities abound from yoga to boxing club fitness groups, runners, dog walkers and personal trainers all making the most of this large grass meadow.
The only thing lacking is access to public toilet facilities, and a few more bins to collect the large amount of picnic generated waste.
N. M.
Beautiful place
v. m.
Nice green area in the city. The market was disappointing, not much there. The food stalls seemed good ( I got some lovely partridge sausages), the graft stalls were disappointing
G. N.
Huge central Park at bottom of Easter Road. Popular with dog walkers and locals. There are loads of areas to walk and sit. Often there are sports played in certain parts but plenty of space for everyone. Lovely tree lined walkways. Fab for a BBQ during the summer (just make sure not to burn the grass!).
A.
A great place to relax, get some exercise, walk your dog, or take the kids out for a play date. It's a big park where you can even meet new people or just hang out with your friends, maybe have a picnic. I recommend it.
M. V.
Relatively quiet park. Great for running, family strolls and dog walking. During summer is less crowded than the Meadows, so that's great if you want to meet with friends and have a late summer evening picnic there.
On the other side, it's not as clean and taken care of as the Meadows, I suppose due to its location and few visitors it receives.
s. r.
Always enjoy this festival opener tho seemed smaller than usual. They did a great job particularly in increasingly awful weather! The number of "personal" stalls seemed less which is a pity. Always a vibrant community scene. Thank you to the organisers and volunteers
Z. H.
Lovely place for family to anyone. Only issue is sometimes you come across people who have and a bit too much and end up vomiting. Hopefully that doesn't happen too much. A good park with swings etc for the little ones to play. Or for adults just to chill and soak in the sun.
C. G.
Lots of trees, ample green lawns, park benches, flower beds, playgrounds, and plenty of history. Great place for a peaceful and relaxing time, a picnic, a barbecue, playing sports, jogging, or simply laying down on the grass and watching the clouds.
M. H.
I love my local park. This park has a great space to have a sunbath when it is sunny or to cycle around it. There is a part with apple trees as well.
K. O.
enough space and separation that you can enjoy early Spring days , so nice to have area such as this for all the Leith and Edinburgh people in such tough times
C. T.
Huge park, easily accessible by car and bus. Regularly used by a variety of groups from children's football training to exercise group's.
Is a local favourite for sunbathing on sunny days, dog walking, picnics on weekends.
Recently had the Jazz and Blues Festival, following that was the Russian Circus.
M. H.
Amazing and clean park, really easy to physical distancing
C. H.
Dog friendly park, tennis courts, trees and asphalt paths
P. D. L. N.
Beautiful and massively big green space that extends from John's Place till the Seafield Cemetery and Crematorium. A paradise for dog walkers, pastime footballers, cricket aficionados, families and home of the summer Mela Festival. The hidden gem of Edinburgh parks.
R. B.
A lovely treat on my way to work. Full of hidden surprises like the childrens Orchard. This place is much like the meadows but without the students. Great spot for picnic and barbecue in summer. Popular with dog walkers and with the cycle path links to porty means it's easy to get to.
Has a great festival in the summer. A real hub for the community.
L. G.
Amazing park to sit and real. Want to picnic? go there! Want to take a walk with your family or dog? Go there!....we went with our 4 YO son and it has a little play ground there. He had a blast!
R.
Great place to be able to shut off and just chill.Wonderfull spot in the middle of Leith.A wee true jewel in sunshine's place.
M. N.
Brilliant day out with the grandchildren Each and every one of us really enjoyed ourselves at Taylor shows within the park. Be prepared for high prices sometimes better buying family ticket this way you will save 🗣at kids for over spending
L. v. d. N.
Nice park, lots of space to do certain sports or to just take a walk. It is a bit empty and small. Doesn't really feel like a park, more like a large field of grass.
J. M.
Has a large urban green space with park for kids and lots of trees and grass for picnics. Has allotments and a sunday market
P. K.
Good space and facilities, links to a walking path that can take you to Portobello, nice shops close by for coffee or snacks
N. M.
Simply lovely outdoor space with paths and community activity (croft/school/allotments/football) and mature tree lined paths. Quite close to main road, and some rubbish, otherwise would be perfect!
N. M.
As a Leither you just have to walk through the Links every now and then. Great for picnics and sunbathing in the summer months! The Leith Gala is always there in June. Very chilled. 😀
S. B.
Beautiful place where the kids will enjoy playing and running on their own. Great for family barbecue in the summers. Has a small play area for kids towards the Leith primary school.
M. V.
Great play area for kids and lots of nice green space to enjoy a picnic
C. B.
Love this Park and miss it since moving away. Lost a star for the occasional group of rowdy local youths who disturb the pleace and quiet.
D. F. (.
Large green open area with cycle paths. Good place for recreational activities ie: cricket or football. Also decent for picnic or barbecues. But I have to admit it isn't as well mantained as say the Meadows.
L. R.
Traffic is terrible and very difficult to park. Otherwise, a pleasant area
J. H.
Great place for a BBQ on a sunny day and for a run of you are local. It's usually kept clean and tidy. No public toilets though.
P. W.
This is a good place to go during the day but it's not very safe at night and it's also a good place to take your family for a picnic as it has a bit with sand and a climbing frame for the kids to play on with their friends while the adults can lie and soak up the sun if the weather is nice
J. (.
Great park. Nice open spaces and a great place to take your dog. Well looked after and very rarely see dog poop around.
C. M.
Great kids playground!
T. S.
A very underated park in that you won't read about it in tourist guides and yet it is the very place where the rules of golf as they are today were established apparently. There is a small monument about it as you enter the park. A beautiful, peaceful and very clean place where one can reflect on the origins of golf...or whatever takes your fancy !!
L. S.
Nice big green space in Leith - busy with dog walkers, families and people playing sports. Some unsavory characters around but expected due to the area. Not as scenic as the Meadows but great for what it is.
G.
Lovely park for a run or walk. Some nice spots around :)
J. P.
A great open green area in the middle of the city. Nice new playground.
R. B.
Great place to spend a sunny day 🌞😎

A calm haven from the maddening crowds if its not a sunny weekend afternoon with local rabble, just pick yr spot wisely 😜
L.
A big place to calm down while walking around in the nature. Even better if you have a dog who likes to run a lot. It's not even that far from the museum.
M. A.
Good large park, three new tennis courts. Huge amount of space and the park is well used and maintained. Popular with families, joggers, cyclists, skateboarders etc.
F. F.
Very peaceful when it's sunny .just a fantastic place to relax
G. J.
Lovely historic green - great to cycle through, walk the dogs or have a picnic.
C. P.
It's a nice big green patch, but watch your dog's paws there's a lot of glass all over the place
C. D.
Free tennis courts (3)
M. S.
If you have a dog, head over to Leith Links in the evening, any day, or from the early afternoon, on the weekend, and you will have a chance to meet a wide variety of other dog lovers with whom to chat and give your dog some exercise. I have seen Chihuahuas run with Irish Sheephounds. It's really quite a sight!
C. R.
