Reviews of Princes Street Gardens
S. D.
An amusement park was set in this garden in Edinburgh to celebrate Christmas. The atmosphere was totally different one of merriment and lots of food to eat and drink. There were also amusement games for the kids. We had a great time there. 🤗
J. D.
Even on the moat bitterly cold days there is always things to see on the west end of the centre in The Princes Street Gardens from the stunning Ross Fountain, the mortonhall baby ashes memorial to Wojtek Statue.
The gardens when unoccupied by the winter fair and additional vendors is stunning. Its lovely to wander round in such lovely surrounding right in the centre of the city.
Worth a visit and wander around. Photo opportunities as well for those who are keen.
Harry potter fans can also do a graveyard trail with characters from the films named after those nearby.
C. R.
Great day out with the family, very picturesque walking through the park.
The kids loved the funfair but not my wallet so much haha. Me and the missus had a Mulled Cider and a Whiskey Hot Chocolate, be warned it’s not a cheap day out but it is worth it although I did not agree with the dual pricing (you live on a Edinburgh postcode you got 20percent off the rides etc but had to show proof) but all in all great day out and had so much fun with my youngest in the Maze give it a try.

Beautiful garden.. you can see very good view of edinburgh castle from here. Has lot of space for walking and jogging. There is also a Beautiful fountain at the centre of garden. Also has lots of roses and other flowers. Garden well maintained as well. There is flower clock as well at the entrance.
P. M.
Large clean gardens. Good view of Edinburgh Castle and other land marks. Very near Waverly train station.
S. T.
Been here many times over many years ..
Summer or winter the gardens are are a great space..
Came for the winter markets and Santa's grotto..
My little girl loved it and had a few shots on the rides.
S. J.
Beautiful gardens and views, with mostly flat walkways through. Busy with people but was able to find free outside seats. Amazing statues and monuments. Very well kept flower beds. Definitely worth a visit
S. B.
These gardens are so beautiful to walk through early morning or early evening. Plenty of benches to sit on, the garden has a couple of public toilets and places to grab a coffee or a bite to eat as well as a play area. These gardens are a lovely place to just sit or walk through to escape some of the hustle and bustle of the city. Great view is the castle too.
M. H.
I visited this park last Saturday, and found it a great place to be.
People were wearing masks, and there was plenty of space for social distancing, any staff around all had masks on.
Its a great place for a picnic, there is plenty to see and do, and loads of photo opportunities.
Would recommend 100%, and would visit 100% again.
A park not to be missed, when in Edinburgh.
j. d.
Lovely park to spend the day. There are plenty of statues and a lovely floral clock. There are lovely views of the castle. At the end of the park by st cuthberts there is somewhere to buy food and have a drink
Z.
The market was more expensive than I thought it was going to be, and was perhaps more expensive than usual due to covid.
The Christmas market ain’t big as other around UK. It’s disappointing for a city like Edinburgh to have such a small market & not much activity & rides.. you can see the full market in around 30 minutes.
H. S.
Absolute peach of a spot. Just by the waverly station adjacent to Scott Monument, this is a popular destination for a family picnic. Stunning in spring
A. S.
We visited the Christmas markets and totally enjoyed it! Yes it was very busy but we entered at the opposite side to the Waverley station and it was quieter that side. The choice of food stalls was huge, coffee, beer and of course whisky stalls were present. The gift stalls choice of variety was similar throughout but made the place. The prices were high but its what I was expecting.
J.
Peace and tranquility in the heart of Edinburgh, even though you have a railway on one side and Princes Street on the other it is a well kept and quiet oasis to relax from stressful sightseeing and shopping. Great view of castle from here as well.
Just yards from Waverley train station and the Scottish national gallery you can see a floral clock, Norwegian memorial stone, a Polish soldier bear memorial, the Ross fountain, Scottish American War memorial and more. Well worth a look if you are passing
M. S.
It is one of the best places in Edinburgh.
The garden close to the train station, the buses stations, and the tram.
Many restaurants, coffees, and shopping stores are close as well.
Highly recommended 👍
A. H.
Visited while on holiday, a beautiful, popular place, luvly to see locals and tourists enjoying the sunshine whilst there. A beautiful fountain, children's bungee jump dome, also the Pavillion Cafe and beer garden. Just a luvly place to walk through. Worth a visit:)
D. A.
Have always enjoyed this little city centre park. Well worth a wander through. Some exceptional views and a breath of calm in the city centre.
M. B.
This park we have wanted to visit all week but had been unusually closed. The soft sloops and established trees make for the idea place for a brake or picnickers when the weather is good. One of the main area has a nice beer garden but they have no non alcoholic beers on sale which was a shame. There is an outdoor auditorium, fun looking play park and this ornate fountain. A must see on any visit to Edinburgh.
K. F.
Beautiful park in the heart of the city. An excellent spot to escape the hustle and bustle, take a stroll or sit and chat.
L. C. M. C.
Beautiful. A lovely place to visit whilst in Edinburgh that's only yards from and bordered by Edinburgh Waverley Station, Princes Street and the Scottish National Gallery.
M. F.
Beautiful scenery was stunning and a lovely place to sit and take it all in. Very popular with families having a picnic playing etc
a. k.
Enjoyed going on the big wheel but had to wait in a big queue. It was very busy and not very much social distancing going on. The Christmas Markets were a disappointment and mainly food. I didn't find anything I wanted to buy. Good place to take young children.
C. M.
Lovely on a hot day to relax here , shame theve moved a lot off the grass though i dont think it looks good with this coarse sand and weeds and stray bunches off dead grass put it back the way it was.
J. R.
Came here in January so a bit dull but the snowdrops starting to appear. Gardens are well kept. Beautiful fountain.
J. H.
Gorgeous place to spend a sunny day. The trees provide plenty of shade for anyone not wanting to sunbath. Bathrooms were clean. Had a very pretty view of the castle from one side and had food, drinks and games on the other.
L. W.
Beautiful gardens,I always spend alot of time there when I visit Edinburgh, great to relax and just people watch
J. S.
Beautifully laid out public park and gardens right in the centre of Edinburgh. Very scenic and well maintained. Lots of photo opportunities. Plenty of bench seats where you can sit and enjoy an ice cream. Lots of open grass areas to lie out when the weather is good. An excellent place to spend an hour or so between trains and/or buses. Within easy walking distance of Waverley Railway Station and also St Andrew's Square Bus Station, or just to have a sit down for a while and get a bit of peace from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street.
C. E.
Really lovely place to have a peaceful walk
s. e.
A big beautiful park right next to the city centre with a nice kids playground and ice-cream shop. There's a big NCP car park right opposite it which is quite expensive but useful. The park also has amazing views of the castle.
K. J.
Loved it! Great little pub, enjoyed the food and drink and staff were very friendly.
E. H.
Lovely gardens to visit...lots of statues to view also lovely fountain which is very peaceful to listen to while relaxing on a bench..
E. G.
Beautiful gardens, so many things to look at from the statue tributes, to the impressive water fountain, lots to do with the family too.
A. C.
Went for the Christmas market. You get amazing views from the top of the Ferris wheel
N. A.
Lovely to sit in and enjoy nice weather and an amazing view of the old town, a bit noisy from the station announcements and incoming trains but that’s just the charm of a park in the city. Many cafes and shops nearby, toilets are also close by in the shopping mall across the street. Sometimes the gardens are closed due to rain/flooding.
I. A.
Love it! Just love it!! The most magical garden in Europe with its famous fountain commemorated the ancient witchcraft in general or the witch-hunt, in particular, that took place here centuries ago. Wonderful in any season and it's dominated by Edinburgh Castle on the volcatic rock. The history at every corner.
K.
Lovely area, great view of the castle, lots of benches to sit on. Beautiful flowers in the gardens too, lots of different coloured roses. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Loved it here.
D. S.
Useful venue for taking a break from the maelstrom of the city centre. Fine views of the city and plenty of seating / refreshment stops.
W.
We all loved it here great food, excellent service, fantastic views
We'll be back
E. O.
The Christmas Markets were not too bad.
N. G.
Beautiful open space just underneath Edinburgh Castle. Surprisingly quiet despite the distance from the main road.
T. w. I.
Its a great place to have a walk and to enjoy a silent atmosphere while you are still in the city centre. If you come on weekends it can still be crowded. Its very famous and many people come here. Its very green and you will feel so well. I try to come always within the week. From here you can also see the castle from a different angle.
P. B.
Beautiful gardens right in the city centre of Edinburgh. Stunning views of the castle and plenty places to sit and watch the world go past. The Ross Fountain is worth a visit to. There is a cafe near by the fountain and a kids play park. Nice all year round.
L. M.
This side of the gardens was a bit more peaceful. Was glad for some protection from the blustery weather here too.
P. S.
Beautiful gardens with different sections and views of the castle, well kept and maintained. The Scott Monument is an amazing piece of historical architecture and the Ross Fountain looks great since it's been restored. The Band Stand could look better but I believe there are plans for a lot of redevelopment here in the future.
C. S.
This place is lovely in the sunshine and has plenty benches to sit on.Clean and tidy and the views are great on a clear day .
L. O. B.
Beautiful open area right in the city center
J. C.
It was freezing cold winters day..so lots of trees and grass..beautiful fountain..lovely to walk through and a piece of quietness away from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping area..Great views of Edinburgh Castle too..
D. S.
Very nice place and some stunning buildings
C. H. W.
My favourite spot of Edinburgh.
The best seasons to come visit are spring (with gorgeous flowers and cherry blossoms) and autumn (when leaves turn into different shades of fall colours).
There's so many benches which makes it the perfect spot to sit -when the weather allows- and meet friends, have a quick bite, etc.
Perfect for walks as well.
Just beware at 1pm when the cannon fires! (Edinburgh Castle's famous one o'clock gun)
A. B.
The park is so Clean, and everything is organized, all the grass, trees and the all round the place is kept so clean. It's a nice place to take a time out from the rush, it feels like you're away from the city, and out on the country side.
Perfect.... I will come here again.
Must say i love Scotland
b. “. b. p.
Princess Street and Gardens. Some lovely views and walks in area. Shops on Princess Street not the best anymore. But Gardens are worth a visit. You can walk through Gardens to Grassmarket area
G. M.
Calm, beautiful gardens with a huge fountain and amazing view of the castle.
B. S.
Lovely views of the castle
Beautiful fountains
Lots of seating
No complaints :)
A. D.
Wonderful Park, with good weather is beautiful.
C. T.
First time here and really enjoyed it, ofcourse you have to have the 🌭 and hot chocolate mmmmmmm and went on the big wheel, had a really good night
P. d. M.
Lovely place with amazing view and atmosphere. Good for children and families.
A. S.
Very nice Autumn walk round the gardens.
P. K.
It's an amazing place to hangout.
Christmas Fair is held right from first week of December.
J. T.
First visit in 2 years. As always, the entire staff are so friendly and helpful. The missing star is for the pathetic sandwich. Dry and not much filling. Should have kept the last layout with hot food, soups, cakes etc. I would have bought a cake but they are left on a chiller - wide open to dust and germs!
T. S.
Beautiful garden in the center of the city. Easily accessible by walk or public transport. No parking nearby, i wonder. This garden gives awesome view of Edinburgh Castle 🏰. The garden is well maintained. Spent some time to relax after visited nearby hilly landmarks.
E. B.
Went to Santa Land, it's in the west end of Princess Street Gardens. Great for young kids. Not too busy. Remember to take proof of your Edinburgh post code. 20% off. I had my driving license. Big saving as rides are £3.50 . Only £2.80 with discount. Staff were helpful and patient with the kids. Some rides no charge for accompanying adult.
M. F.
Well worth spending time here. Plenty of seating and grass areas to sit.
A. G.
Beautiful garden and open spaces in the heart of the city with good view of the castle. Well maintained grass and garden with lots of seasonal flowers. There is a lovely floral clock at one of the entrances and beautiful fountain at the other end.
There are lot of benches to sit, relax and enjoy this lovely place. The place is very busy during festive period and sunny days.
M. S.
Always a great experience. Kids love it too
Stunning views toward the castle. I normally use castle terrace parking, but by bus or tram is just the best
A. R.
Very good place, park, street nice
A. M.
Great place to have a day or evening walk
D. U. (.
So gorgeous, definitely worth visiting!
m. c.
Perfect on any visit but in cherry blossom season it’s perfection. The coffee from the little cafe in the park is pretty good too
J. E. N.
First time. Not disappointed.
A. G.
Nice place to watch the world go by. In these days of cutbacks I watch a gardener spending time to clear up the shrubbery and make it look good. They close the gates at 6.15 which again shows they want the place looked after and clean. Why not walk along the grass lined path and leave the Princess St pavement to others.
T. T.
Lovely gardens though not for those with reduced mobility ....loos are down a steep part that I couldn't walk down myself and a wheelchair user wouldn't have a hope
k. r.
Cannot understand how a place could be so beautiful. Truly eygasmic and the vibes are so calming. Although an active city centre you can get away from the hustle and bustle and get away for a bit in a beautifully relaxing environment.
A. D.
It's a good pleasant place. A sightseeing for Edinburgh city. Walk around in the gardens
j. c.
We visit every year for the Christmas market.
Peak times are busy, and can be difficult to operate a wheelchair, due to the hills at the ends of the park, whereby you access the lower level.
Food is reasonably priced, but stalls are repetitive.
Lots of the surrounding areas are also decorated with Christmas lights. It is well worth the visit.
L. H.
Beautiful gardens with a lovely view of the old town.
p. s.
Beautiful anytime of the year. Well worth a look. Always nice to walk through. Cuts out the busy street above. A clam different walk. Fantastic Christmas Market as well . Lots of overpriced tat. But best of all its free entry.
G. F.
Great location, stunning scenery at tue base of Edinburgh Castle. Literally on the doorstep of plenty shops, cafes and restaurants. Transport including the trams all run to the gardens also.
l. h.
Beautiful gardens, especially at this time of year with the autumn foliage. Wonderful views of the castle and prince's Street and iconic Edinburgh!. Extensive gardens running the length of the street,, lovely views of gardens from the bridges.
C. C.
Christmas Market this year is good though VERY crowded. Watching people queue for almost an 1hour was crazy. If you just want a little walk around and maybe buy some trinkets from the stalls I suggest entering from the museum entrance it's much easier. The market itself is very small this year, clearly due to Covid19, pervious years saw the lower part of the gardens used for the wooden stalls but that is not the case this year sadly. Other than that it was lovely evening out though be prepared for lengthy waiting times for rides. ^_^
m.
Normally a very well tended garden in a very busy centre, and is beautiful in the summer. Although yesterday when I visited it was a bit of a write-off because of the construction working. Plenty of benches to sit on, statues of famous Scots to admire, flowers to wonder at.
E. L.
Princess Street is basically the "New Town" side of Edinburgh City centre. This where the multi- chain stores are situated.
The "Old Town" is on the other side of the "valley" (in which the centre section is where the main (Waverly), train station is situated).
The Old Town is where you will find the High Street, and the Royal Mile (which leads to the Castle), this is where you will find the more traditional types of shops.
So it's a bit of both, you choose what you wish to visit new or old, or both !
F. a. F.
This is a charming little walk in the middle of a beautiful city. Take the time to walk and enjoy the gardens, walk amongst graves and explore a piece of history. Bring a lunch or get something from one of the quaint little booths.
V. W.
Very clean, lovely and open space with great views of the castle. Very central location. Close to shops, museums, and Edinburgh train station. Good place to relax between commuting, sightseeing and shopping.
C. F.
Good sized park in the centre of Edinburgh which is nice to walk through - well looked after. My 6 year old loved the kids play area and it was a good place to sit and have sandwiches. Toilets in the middle were as nice as public toilets can be!
G. B.
The gardens are well maintained all year round to a high level,
Theres great views of the Edinburgh Castle especially when the fireworks displays are on.
Christmas times are special with the German market next to the Art Galleries at the foot of the Mound.
Hogmanay sees Live top bands at the Ross Bandstand .
Theres always something diffrent to do and see everytime you visit....
K. B.
We always come here new year's day with our dog Casper. Good atmosphere with all the events taking place all around. We love the funfair and Christmas market very much. Our dog heads for the miniature railway set up over the Christmas period. He thinks it's great. It's a wonderful place to visit all year round. I do hope they reinstate the lovely gardens we also visit in summer back to how they were because of all the wet weather we've had. I'm sure they will.
R. C.
Lovely place to spend your time in
G. B.
Always a fantastic place to go. Locals and tourists mingle beneath the quiet majesty of the Castle, sitting on the grass under the trees or on the many benches. It serves as a little area of calm in the bustle of central Edinburgh, even when mobbed by tourists wanting to see the Floral Clock, Great Aunt Lizzie's cottage, the Ross Fountain, or just resting.
T. k.
We were blessed by good weather on this walk through the park Great walk. Public toilets open which is brilliant and perfect way to transition between old town and new town. The view from Ross fountain of the castle as a backdrop is must have photo op.
P. B.
Such a beautiful location.. plus now with the Christmas market it feels like its alive ... the selection is so wide and you get everything from good food, drinks and amazing souvenirs and decorations..if you are in town it is a must visit... the place will make you fall in love with the city
t. c.
Edinburgh Christmas market- brilliant time lovely atmosphere. Go to the big bar for a drink, still cheaper than the other bars. £5.70 for a pint Prague lager. Seen German beer £4.00 for half pint. Have a cash and your card- some huts are cash only some card only.
R. G.
We were here during the Christmas Market. What a magnificent and exciting Christmas spirit that dwells here! We had an indulgent hot drink between the most blissful lights with sweet and warm Christmas music everywhere while we were in awe of the number of stands beautifully situated between the two hills of the old and the new town of Edinburgh. A memory never to be forgotten.
C. P.
Lovely city centre gardens with views of the castle. I particularly recommend visiting early in the morning as it’s lovely and quiet - even more so in the Edinburgh haze.
Very well maintained and clean too
P. S.
Great little park full of colourful flowers and blossoming trees! We went at the end of April and the weather was perfect for a great walk. Because of the shade from the castle/hill, lighting is optimal for amazing photos beside the flora and fauna! Consider for wedding e-shoots or even the big day itself!!
A. C.
Quite day at Edinburgh xmas market, enjoyed my day out, good walk around.with bargains
k.
Awesome place to rest for everybody, live music events organized in summer almost everyday. Just a nice training before the festival. There are a lot of benches to sit down in the whole garden. Flowers everywhere, nice selection of roses, sparkling fountain and the enormous castle over. The essence of Edinburgh. It is a must see for all in Edi.
S. D.
Big garder in the centre of the Edinburgh city..So clean and beautifully maintained..You can sit there for hours and enjoy the day..Strongly recommend to visit it
M. L.
We went during the December Christmas Market and were honestly quite blown away.
We've been to a couple different Christmas markets but this was by far the biggest.
A wide range of classic Markets that you'd expect to find with extras like a Christmas tree maze and rides.
We discovered a German food market that sold hotdogs with cheese in the sausage and it was amazing!
We're only in Edinburgh for a few days but was well worth the trip and would strongly recommend to anyone.
A. M.
Always a great place 🏴 when the sun is out! I wish the peacocks were still there! distance memory nice place for picnic playing lots of attractions but an ice cream will cost you a fair bit
H. C.
Well kept large city centre garden's ideal for a of peaceful walk, in good weather.
Z. D.
Unique, beautiful, changeable - it's a key landmark to the city and its different come the fringe festival.and Christmas. We visited once during Christmas and their markets and Santa land were excellent! One of the best winter events I've been to, with reasonable prices, and a great atmosphere even on a Sunday! Highly recommended you check it out, especially in the festive season!
g. a.
Nice place for family entertainment....
S. G.
Grand had a crepe for dinner amazing and a,walk
F. R.
love the flowers, grasses and the location. right in the middle of princess street, if you get tired of walking and shopping with crowds, you can always relaxed here and lying on the grass. It's not as crowded as The Meadows, so you can take your time reading books, taking a nap or just chilling.
P. P. (.
A really nice place to see the castle from below
S. N.
An beautiful park with wonderful open space,
Lot's of greenery, variety of flowers & sitting area.
Ideal place for walking
U. K.
A must visit while in Edinburgh. The park is a surprise when you start exploring it. Right in the middle of the city, it is easy to mistake it for just another park. The statues, the fountains and even the statue of the Bear commerating the Polish soldiers are brilliant and well maintained. The castle and the hill looms in front and is an amazing sight.
V. D.
Was there as part of their Summer sessions. Rain was very heavy but event was easy to get in and out of. Good size you get a good view and acoustics worked well. Great backdrop and setting, easy to get to from my transport links including trains.
M. S.
I visited during Christmas markets. Lovely place. Absolutly adore it. Good size space. plenty of people around. Nice views to the castle. Close to Edinburgh Dungeons. Main street just around the corner.
C. A. D. N.
A beautiful park with a view of Edinburgh castle. It's a great place to go for a walk and enjoy the sun when you're in Edinburgh.
G. C.
We went for Edinburgh's Christmas. We had a good time but I felt like it had been very badly organised and laid out. Some sections were so crammed together you could not move. You were holding onto your children's hand for fear they would get swept away in the mash of people. It's still COVID times so obviously this isn't great but it would be too busy under normal circumstances. They had only used what felt like a very small area rather than spreading the stalls and rides out to give more space. Hundreds of people crammed into the small space. They also didn't have a one way system running, but they had shut most of the entrances forcing everyone through one entrance. You could barely get near the stalls and the queue for the big wheel was obscene!
T. A.
The whole area is taken over for the market,A whole hubbub o sounds and smells of all types of foods and drinks..for me always a Gluewhein and a huge bratwurst with mustard is a pleasure .Plenty of other foods available.Yes it is a wee bit expensive but enjoyable with great atmosphere.Gets very crowded.
Enjoyed the huge Ferris Wheel next to Sir Walter Scott Monument, lovely views and great pictures.
t. W. D.
My favorite place in town to escape the city rush and crowd. It’s beautiful in every season. We never get enough of this park and it’s host many event throughout the year. Love love this gardens
G. G.
Went with friend (yes I have one) to visit Christmas market. Not for the faint hearted. Busy busy busy. One way system to Chanel revellers may be an idea.
Oor Welly ☕🤗🌹

Very romantic place! There are many benches so you can seat/eat while viewing the castle.
There are few cafe inside the park/garden. It closes around 7:30pm and if you are still there 15 mins. before it closes, the people in charge will remind you to go outside. Actually all parts of Edinburgh have the same romantic and IG feels to me. That's why i choose this place to propose to my girlfriend.
M. I.
Well organized and very beautiful garden with a lot of flowers and greenery. It is being looked over by the Edinburgh Castle making it even more attractive.
I. H.
Lungs of the city, great place to relax and watch the world go by.
J. K.
A beautiful oasis of calm amidst the bustle of the city. The gardens are immaculate, the views are breathtaking and we always found a quiet spot to sit and regroup.
I absolutely recommend that any visitor to the city takes the time to see it from this unique vantage point.
T. M.
A lovely public park with fantastic views of Edinburgh castle plenty of seats to sit and enjoy the piece. There's also a small cafe for a quick snack or a cool drink
S. V.
Nothing less than heavens, especially in summers. Great views of the Edinburgh Castle from there.
When I visited one fine weekend evening in April couple of years back, I was surprised to see so many people in the gardens enjoying sunshine (quite unusual to see such huge cried at one place), I thought, half of the population of the city was in the gardens! :-)
Y. H.
Loved every minute at Edinburgh Christmas markets. 🎄 Well done, so much going on.!!! Food stalls amazing. Hot drinks, alcohol to warm u up. Hot dogs stalls, German sausage stall. All nationalities giving a wonderful variation of choices. Top class. Great Christmas atmosphere.
As a family, we had a superb day.!! 💕
Crafts galore, gifts, chocolates, Pick n mix, woollens, decorations, scarfs n hats, shawls. Then the rides. The fair for older daredevils, the big wheel or Edinburgh Eye £9 per person.
On another level, the rides and train station for the younger children was well done too.
Excellent experience, giving you the Christmas glow inside. We even saw a gray squirrel enjoying some lunch. Lovely!!!
P. S.
Beautiful park in the center of Edinburgh. It is right next to the Sir Walter Scott monument and the Scottish National Gallery is located on one end of it with castle hill and Edinburgh castle as a backdrop. A nice place to relax in the summer while enjoying the Edinburgh skyline.
G. L.
Once a disease infested swamp, the gardens were drained at the end of the 18th century to create a park. One of the most accessible green spaces in Edinburgh. (When it is not being abused by Underbelly) Try walking all the way up the Scott monument. Go over Princes street to M&S food hall and get sandwiches, salads and cold champagne (they will even sell you plastic flutes) and enjoy a picnic on the grass under the shade of an oak tree.

We go to Edinburgh once a month. We'll worth the 300 mile round trip. Especially for the Princes Street Gardens. Our recent visit was filled with magic for our children as it was the Christmas Market... I mean wow, we did not want to leave, giant pretzels, candy canes, crafts, this place is magical. Back next week 😍😍😍
S. C.
Christmas markets are so much fun here.. beautiful place with lovely ppl around. So many food, games, gifts stalls have been set up. Aroma of coffee beans just turn on the spirits.. The atmosphere is very lively, so many rides for kids and adults. Amazing place during Christmas. Otherwise too it's a lovely place for hanging out.. located in city centre, must visit when in Edinburgh.

We absolutely loved the Princess Gardens when our family of three visited in June 2019! Our 10yo daughter enjoyed running, learning, playing, drawing, journaling, and relaxing at this expansive and beautiful park. Her drawing and journaling started with the Ross Fountain and added a few statues throughout the park that included Wojtek the Soldier Bear Memorial and the Mortonhall Baby Ashes Memorial (a beautiful elephant statue). Her favorite time there was running throughout the garden's rolling hills and playing with the kids that were enjoying the park. Loved this and can't wait to visit again when the pandemic is over!
A. B.
Lovely gardens, awesome Scott Monument, beautiful views of the city (especially at night!). Even more awesome, back in the day those gardens were a nasty swampy area. Women accused of witch craft were thrown in there. If they were innocent, they sunk, if they were guilty, they would float. Their hands were bound to their ankles so, weird lol. We learned that story on the ghost tour, hundreds of women were killed in those gardens! It made it even cooler!
R. S. S.
I love the gardens. You completely forget you are right in the city centre. I'm lucky enough to work nearby so usually eat my lunch there. The canon shot at 1pm from castle may startle you. The gardens are well kept and there are playgrounds for kids and cafés with ice cream as well!
B. N.
Beautiful, lush park in the middle of the city. The benches all have these little plaquettes telling a story of their donors and they have been miraculously dry after the rain. Lots of curious squirrels, some pigeons and seagulls. Perfect place to have your coffee or 3£ lunch that you bought in boots or superdry.
D. Ö. A.
Princess Street Garden left side on the Princess Street. Have beautiful flowers and an entire ancient view.
A. G.
Beautiful outdoor space in the centre of the city. It feels like an escape in the middle of the city rush.
C. H.
A well maintained park with great views of the old town, castle, princes street, museums and scott monument to name a few. Quieter than the busy streets. What a great city.
A. C.
Very pretty park, lovely for walking during the day. The park has great views of Edinburgh Castle and is conveniently located in the city centre. The central fountain was undergoing renovations on my most recent visit so is unfortunately a bit of an eyesore temporarily. There don't seem to be any publically-accessable toilets in the park, but there are restaurants and cafes across the road on Prince's Street. The gates are shut at night. Lovely atmosphere and well-kept grounds. Have returned many times.
E. A.
There is much to see. Beautiful gardens, and the Edinburgh festival. Just pass through to enjoy and have fun. You can go with your kids. They can learn from visiting the various sites.
E. A.
Princes Street Gardens are a haven in Edinburgh City Centre where you can enjoy walking to or from Edinburgh Waverley Station or the Scottish National Gallery, with a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle. My last visit was in autumn when the foliage colours were delightful. I would, however, warn you to look out for seagulls as I once saw one swoop down and steal a sandwich from someone's hand.
A. T.
Always bustling with activity
J. S.
Beautiful kept gardens, gorgeous trees & magnificent views, thank you.
a. s.
Beautiful place just besides the Edinburg railway station ..... it's nice place to relax and adjoining is the famous princes street where you can shop... the greenery is just so relaxing and soothing to the eye .... the gardens are well maintained and a favourite spot for people of all ages in summers to soak the bright sun
C. “. M.
Had fun going up the Scott monument, amazing views and chose the perfect day. Also good pace for the tour guide to give information as a steady rate people could take in and understand.
K. G.
Really nice gardens, the views from there are really impressive. It’s suitable for having picnics there, go hiking, take a nap or even biking.
M. L.
Great shopping area, well connected by several buses, taxis and tram.
The Christmas market is stunning! Lots of stands to shop and eat. The festive atmosphere is the best part!
S. S.
The whole city of Edinburgh gives you an ancient feeling. One of the most beautiful and lively city. The princess garden is situated next to princess street and centrally located. Very beautiful garden and you can also enjoy the panoramic views of Edinburgh castle.
D. R. H.
One of the most beautiful places in Edinburgh. Where there was a lake now there is a beautiful park where you can get a sit and enjoy your free time with your family or friends.
S. F.
Very quiet at the moment. Nice and clean too, no litter. The cafe at the west end is open, so you can get a coffee, or a drink, and a snack and sit on a bench or the grass to eat/drink. A large seagull took a fancy to me while I was there!
A. D.
Gorgeous green space in the shadow of the castle. Kind of frustrating right now because a lot of it is blocked off, etc., but it’s still lovely. Somehow it’s green even in the middle of winter, and the caretakers do a meticulous job. I really enjoyed my visit.
T. G.
We went for the Xmas markets think this is our 3rd time. A great place to have them. The selection of food and snacks were awesome.
The big wheel was fun. Some great views. A great place for kids. Most sweets and snacks are £5. If your in Edinburgh when this is here then I recommend a visit whether or not the market is on.
Fun fact is that this used to be a lake many years ago and the locals used to fling their 'waste' in here.
P. M.
The Christmas market at Princes street was really amazing. Numerous rows of shops both food and shopping were possible. We had lot of foods from there and had some shopping. Also, there are different bars where we can chill and talk to someone and make friends. Everything is ordered and the secure. The garden is beautiful and I think it is well lit during Christmas time. The rides were really good and adventurous. Must visit the place everyone.
s. W.
Poor value even with concession. Good audio commentary, but £15 per person to be stuck on a bus in traffic for a 7 mile journey is a bit of a racket. Useful to orientation yourself, but cheaper to buy a map.
J. H.
Lovely open space in the centre of Edinburgh, had quite a continental feel to it, lots of people making use of the vast space and facilities even on a bitter cold Saturday morning in November...
r. d. (.
The parks are looking pretty clean, despite the seagulls having a field day now restrictions have loosened.
This is at the end with the war memorial. Its a lovely place to sit and have lunch. Very good for squirrel watching too!
I. V.
Dressed up for the Edinburgh International Festival, the gardens are full of blooms, vendors, and the stage for the final concert and fireworks. Why not 5 stars? I didn't see designated entrances for wheelchairs, and I did see people turning back from a few stairs-only areas. I guess locals may know how to navigate if they need ramps. A nice stop to smell the roses, really.
P. C.
One of the best city parks in the world. Outstandy vistas including Edinburgh Castle majestic over the scene.
N. N.
Just beautiful! You can take some snacks there, look at the castle view and chill 😊
P. K.
Amazing place to spend your afternoon in the summer. I would imagine it is still quite attractive throughout all seasons as there is plenty to be seen.
d. r.
As it's Gardens it's green it's nicely laid out
J. G.
Lovely is a word that does jot describe here, the gardens are maintained well and are so relaxing to walk through.
m.
Quite restful place in the heart of the city.
Well worth a visit just to see the fountain.
Good views of the castle as well
R. R.
Lovely place to visit on sunny day. It is sandwiched between buzzing princess street, Edinburgh castle, Waverley and art galleries. Also has Scott monument which you can climb if you want.
D. M. A.
The only word that may describe: it’s FANTASTIC!! well designed, many parts , alot of plants and trees . Very perfect place to sit or pass everyday . Don’t miss passing and take some pics when tour the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
T. S.
Just a perfect place to grab a coffee and relax, you can have great views of the Castle and the Scott Monument, and the garden itself it's beautiful! Must-see when visiting Edinburgh!
A. M.
Love going to Edinburgh and spending time here. Beside a main street but still so peaceful and calming. Great place for a rest, an ice cream and a chat, love it!!!
M. M.
Very nice, unfortunately i was there in the start of autumn !! And it was a wash with leafs, but still pleasant and a haven for young courting couples.
S. R. B.
Princess street is a shopping centre, has a garden and also a view of Edinburgh castle can be seen.
J. W.
A wet day but someone had added washing up liquid to the fountain making interesting photos.
E. G.
Lovely gardens well maintained including a wonderful fountain. Plenty of seats as well if you want a rest or just to take in the gardens.
J. M.
Must see place in Edinburgh! If the weather is shiny it is stunning. You can lie on the grass wherever you want and enjoy the panorama.
B. S.
I visited recently for the Edinburgh Christmas markets so the Gardens were being used for retail and pleasure rather than relaxation from a busy shopping experience. The space was being used wisely and creatively with great expertise. A different experience for us.
S. S.
Beautiful yet simple...lovely xmas lights and great place for a walk...very festive
C. M.
Great place to walk, not as much crowded as in London and more charming.Christmas Market was the best, lovely shops with gifts, mulled wine and great street food.
S. F.
Nice gardens in the city centre with lots of statues and monuments to see.
R. M.
A beautiful garden in the middle of the city, I had the opportunity to take a few photos there in the outdoor session. I recommend
K. B.
Lovely 😍 nice to sit...have picnics and when the festivals are on l,always something to see and do.
P. O.
The parks great for relaxing or for exercise back onto Princes Street for a drink or dinner. Book a tasting at Johnny Walker's the less expensive is very good value
B.
Nice place to walk through various events are held here all throughout the year.
N. O.
We went 23rd and 24th December 2019 when the Christmas Markets were on. My local one is Manchester and the ones in Princes Street Gardens absolutely smashed that out if the park.
A. B.
Edinburgh Christmas markets are well worth a trip. Living near Manchester our go to Chrimbo market has always been there but Edinburgh was a birthday treat and the markets were the icing on the cake.
Able to see the stalls, walk freely without being in a massive booze filled crowd was a new experience for us. Food was lovely and we even went on the Sky Rider which was very high and hilarious.
Would definitely visit again! LOVE EDINBURGH 😍😍
B. S.
Lovely gardens with fantastic views of the castle. We were here for the Christmas market, completely self contained within the gardens making it the best market experience I've enjoyed.
A. J.
Lots of space and people were following social distancing rules. Great for an outdoor date, family picnics, or just to relax. You will find all sorts of people sitting or relaxing. Safe for children. Has multiple entry and exit points
K. M.
Beautiful gardens to chill out in, perfect for taking a break for from shopping as it’s close to all the best shopping streets in Edinburgh. Lots going on, lovely ice cream shop and cafe to buy stuff for a picnic. Beautiful fountain too, so relaxing to watch the water. Amazing views of the castle too. Beautiful space full of trees in the middle of the city.
J. C.
Lovely open green space (both east and west Princes Street Gardens) to get away from the hussle and bussle of Princes Street. Nice gentle walks, suitable for all ages and abilities. Lovely views of Edinburgh architecture, especially the Castle. Nice monuments and memorials as well as a beautiful fountain.
N. V. d. B.
Nice, calm location to recover from climbing all these Edinburgh hills (or after some flat shopping). I recommend to visit at noon just before one o'clock, to hear the one o'clock gun that they fire from the castle.
N.
Lovely peaceful place to walk, stroll, have a coffee, chill out.
Good place for sunlight and kid play. You can have view of Edinburgh Castle
S. G.
Walked along Princes Street, lots of expensive shops little outside gin bars which were quite pricey £9.50 for a gin and tonic. Lovely Park which was well used, little cabin sling food and drinks, good value.
a. s.
Beautiful place to take a walk and to sit and relax especially on a sunny day, a dedinate visit
J. L.
Beautiful garden :)
P. V.
Really nice place to spend sometimes with yourself
B. 8.
A picturesque park in central Edinburgh. Located right below the castle, it’s a nice walk (or hike if you go up the hill). There’s an amphitheater where you might catch an event, plenty of statues, along with cafes and restaurants.
s. b.
Awesome Place... We went there on New Year's eve, the street was looking so beautiful and we attended Hogmanay Festival it was awesome experience!!
Just loved it 😍😍
R. S.
Beautiful gardens. A lovely place to spend a summers day. You can grab a drink and bite to eat at different stalls. Access to toilets is tricky at the moment, having a toddler highlights this for me! You can go into the shopping centre beside the train station, but take some change with you as it's chargeable.
W. G.
Great atmosphere, at night it is well lit up with Cristmas lights. Got a real nice feel to it. Lots of little craft / artisan stalls.
N. G.
Beautiful garden's worth a look at
c. m.
A lovely place to spend a few hours relaxing.
G. M.
Always a busy and vibrant place to visit. Would hsve been 5 stsrs but the set up for the festival had begun so parts were closed off. The gate to the bridge leading to path up to castle was also locked. This did not detract from the childrens enjoyment of the gardens
E. S.
Peaceful place to relax while in the middle of a bustling city. Easy connection to transport with a wide range of choices, from buses and taxes, to trams and trains. Nice views and calming shade given from the massive trees growing among the many benches around the gardens. Great for family trips.
M. M.
Lovely today in Princess Street Garden's. Very hot. The Fountain restoration is nearly complete. Will be lovely to see the water fountain on again. 😁👍
K. M.
Christmas markets here are fantastic amazing food, great atmosphere and the service is excellent. I would definitely recommend the mulled cider on a cold winter day and the freshly made doughnuts are fantastic. For a great day our full of Christmas spirit I would definitely recommend Edinburgh Christmas market.
R. P.
Worth going great place with lovely views of the castle ..
A. N.
Great place to visit in the build up to Christmas. We go to the Edinburgh Christmas market every year. It's a must do.
R. I.
We came to the market after Christmas so it was not as busy as usual. This was good because we got on the rides without long waits. Also, a lot of the products in the stalls were reduced to half price so we got some bargains.
B. H.
Beautiful place to visit historic buildings every where and loads to do, we go every year for the Christmas Markets enjoy every minute of it.
F.
Beautiful park with a lovely coffee shop. Perfect place to spend an afternoon.
S.
Beautiful place to chill out with family or alone when is warm and sunny weather. I had good time in garden i was relaxing on grass, when you go there you will not leave this place because there is to nice.
P. H.
The best bit of central Edinburgh
J. “. J. B.
Fantastic place to visit some great monument to see
A. H.
This is one of the busiest places in Edinburgh, there are usually lots of people enjoying this place. Its a nice wee stroll through the gardens, visually captivating IMO, and located directly below the Edinburgh Castle. Worth the time to go and explore it and awesome photo ops available! Go see for yourself! Happy Travels Friends!
P. K.
Cool place for summer chill. Visiting Princes Street Gardens you have to familiarize with a beautiful story of Woytek the polish bear soldier.
J. N.
Good scenery, very clean, an excelent point to rest and have fresh air within the town
M. I.
Lovely park especially when Edinburgh’s Christmas is in town. Such a shame there are many negative Edinburgh residents who oppose nice things from happening in their city - if they had it their way the city centre would be quiet and fall into disrepair. Brilliant gardens when there is something happening like the Fringe and during Christmas time. Nice place to sunbathe in the summer.
A. A. W.
Always good to walk in the morning or afternoon in this garden.. Especially when its sunny.. Very refreshing.. Many people walk arround and also bring dogs to walk.
L. B.
Well kept, pretty outdoor space in the middle of the city. Great view of the castle.
C. m.
Lovely and quiet place even though there were people going about it was still nice even one guy who was singing his heart out he was a really good singer
k. h.
Very pleasant walk through the gardens and sat enjoyed the views of Edinburgh Castle on a warm Saturday evening.
g. k.
A fantastic location opposite the train station and near the Edinburgh Castle we visited in December when the Christmas Market was there good size marker you have almost everything there something for everyone
J. B.
Christmas Market poor compared to previous years. No ice rink, nothing in St Andrews Square and very expensive charges for food. Princes Street very difficult to walk down due to number of people.
J. T.
Beautiful green space with fantastic views, right in the middle of the city centre. Even with all the roads and people around, the gardens are really peaceful and are a perfect spot to relax. It's easily accessible, as is right next to Waverley station and a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile.
S. K.
I came here during Christmas market 2019. The whole park was lit up with a 1000 glittering lights. Even on regular days, the view of the castle and Edinburgh skyline is pretty awesome from here!
R. F.
Lovely stroll through gardens . Peaceful
l. j.
too many tourists squeezed in the surroundings of the podium and Christmas fair, it used to be quiet and tranquil.
M. B.
Beautiful place to go walk and sit in a busy city great views of the old buildings around and castle
S. P.
This has to be one of the best gardens I have visited around UK if not other countries. The castle is right there on the backdrop. Lot of cherry blossoms around. A nice fountain right at the center and plenty of historic architectures around. This place is a heaven for both a nature lover and an architectural admirer. Edinburgh has to be one of best places I've visited in a while. I definitely hope to visit again in coming years.
A. N.
A beautiful park that sits in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, with great views, grassy places to lounge around, and a terrific playground shaped like a castle.
A perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon
B. K.
Great Vibe in the Gardens on Hogmanay and the rides were still on bounce, managed to get hotdog as well to sock up the booze. Very good night
S. A.
Stunning! A beautiful green space set in the wonderful city scapes of Edinburgh. If you're ever near Prince's Street, it's definitely worth a wander through! Even in the dark and especially at christmas time! The christmas marketplace is a sight to behold and if you're trying to find the best time to visit, any time around December, this incredible array of stalls is sure to get you in the festive spirit with its bustling atmosphere. If you're more the daring kind, there are plenty of rides ranging from pretty carousels to an enormous wheel! You cannot visit the christmas market without being tempted by some treats. There's a whole range of stalls to suit whatever food mood you're in, from polish sausages to crêpes (I would personally recommend both) you're sure to find something to enjoy. Overall you will not regret your visit to Princes street gardens, but I have to warn you to budget at the christmas market, as indulging can become rather extortionate! Would thoroughly recommend a visit, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
d. s.
Neat and clean place, you can take a walk, good for photos, no entry fees.
C. C. (.
Can spend a while day here. Great to watch the world go by.
M. P.
This is the center of Edinburgh! All of the major outlets and shops can be found surrounding the park, and the gardens itself is the perfect place for a relaxing walk. The best time to visit is around Christmas time so you can visit the markets and buy handmade gifts for loved ones, munch on traditional snacks, and ride carnival rides! It’s beautiful and well worth the visit.
R. M.
A lovely park! It is a must place to go if you are visiting the city.
c. g.
Just gorgeous. Even in the rain the statues and fountain are beautiful and the views are gothic and brilliant.
O. I.
Great gardens in the heart of Edinburgh. Must visit if you catch a blue sky’s day in the city...
K. D.
Beautiful park , beautiful scenery, when its glorious weather it is packed with people, there are special events all through the year and the Christmas market is lovely to walk round.

Good to go for a walk or just sit and chillax.
Bring a picnic or even a frisbee.
Christmas markets in here are so worth a visit! 🎁🎄🎅
G. K. C.
A quick visit from us to kill some time due to very busy rail travel after being at Murrayfield Stadium. Beautiful gardens to stroll around, plenty of seating and a place to have a coffee or ice cream or something more substantial as you enjoy your surroundings away from the hustle and bustle all around you 👍🏻
D. A.
Beautiful place to walk get a coffee and have a seat for a while worth a visit
J. F.
Very good service, clean and bright surroundings. Food was excellent. Toilets downstairs, not sure if any accessible on restaurant (ground) level.
S. M.
Definitely recommend a visit as these gardens are so so well cared for and tended to. That's so much to see and a beautiful place to explore. Gorgeous flowers and arrangements by some very talented, hard working, devoted and creative gardeners. For such a unique gardebs location I just cannot recommend it enough. So much attention to detail. And you even get to see the glorious Thistle of Scotland
I. M.
Glorious open space in the centre of a glorious city. An ampitheatre of green overshadowed by the granite cliffs and castle. A lovely place to sit and people watch on a sunny day.
C.
Lovely gardens in the centre of Edinburgh.
J. E.
Beautiful gardens, great for a lovely stroll, with Ross fountain, Scott's monument and views of the castle.
B. T.
Fantastic place to sit down and take some relaxing.
M. S.
Lovely place. Nice views. Amazing
C. D.
Peaceful watching gulls bathing in the fountain and a squirrel running across the grass . Flowers and trees were lovely and well maintained.
Whether it was visitors not putting their rubbish in the bin or possibly the gulls taking things out but there was one area that was untidy.
A. v.
Lovely gardens... But couldn't find WC for the kids.
L. W.
Lovely park to have a stroll in. Bigger than expected. I went on a rainy day and it's very it is lovely on a sunny one.

Great place for the head. City centre gets a bit much. Not far to go to get here. Great Art, clean ,well kept & I really want the little Cottage with all the flowers.

Beautiful park in Edinburgh, with a few nice elements, such as the Ross fountain, the impressive stairs at the entrance next to the Flower Clock, the massive trees, and of course the full view of the Edinburgh Castle (at the fountain).

Amazing! Such a fantastic place to visit at Christmas. You can come here and purchase some beautiful gifts or just get a mulled wine and soak up the atmosphere! The view back to the city from the National Gallery is spectacular. There is a huge variety of places to eat and drink also! The smell of food could knock you down as you enter!

Was here for the Christmas Markets and what a spectacular array of stalls. Great place to visit at Christmas. Very well done

Love Edinburgh the shops, the history, the people all inter mingled to make it a very positive experience
P. K.
A great market this year with better selection of stalls than previous years. Place smelt amazing with all the different types of food and drink around. We went on a Saturday and found it uncomfortably busy but that's how it is. Still enjoyed the atmosphere. Buses on hand and regular.
P. a.
Beautiful town . Good to walk around and find restaurant for meal.
S. B.
Nice place for shopping, food both local and international is available at reasonable rates. Even only a walk around will also make you feel happy.
W. G.
Nice open relaxing gardens, great to kill a few hours in the summer sun.
B. A.
At Christmas, you may garb a cup of coffee then have a walk at this gorgeous amazing garden.
R. F.
Visited the Christmas market here. It's very nice very clean and quite different. Plenty of variety of food and drinks. Well worth a visit
J. G.
the zoo is built in terraces on a steep hillside, so wear sensible shoes and be prepared to walk uphill (and downhill). there is a disability transport bus to get the less able up and down the hill, but it is 'by request', so you have to let them know you will need it.
the animals look well cared for and happy. sometimes they can be hard to see, because they have good areas with natural vegetation and private dens.
the food available in the various cafes and snack bars are tasty, substantial and reasonably healthy - but can be expensive.
X.
Beautiful views, very well preserved location.
New addition of moving clock made from flowers.
M. R.
You can go here for - the castle views !
To take a break from the busy shopping street !
To visit Ross fountains !
To see the cuckoo clock !
To let the kids play in the play area!
To hear the train as it makes its way to hayMarket station
Take a picture with a cute wooden elephant
Do you need any more reasons ?
J. M.
Lovely day visiting the Christmas market again. Had a great time and it was a beautiful sunny day. Food and drinks a bit pricey.
H. M.
Lovely gardens just off the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh Waverley. Enjoyed a swift walk through on our way through the city and decided to take the scenic route 😂
M.
It's a lovely garden.
Don't miss to take a walk tour around the garden.
It's free. Enjoy it.
J. B.
Nothing better then a nice chilled out walk though the gardens taking in the splendid building that surround. The sound of bagpipes playing and the odd street performer to entertain
c. m. b. d.
Really well kept and organised gardens... big wheel and german market at christmas is also very nice
G. M.
Lovely day out at the Christmas Market.. seems to get bigger and better organised every year.. keep up the good work.
C. O.
Lovely pay k full of greenery and landmarks. Would recommend it for lunch or a promenade on princess Street.
M. M.
Beautiful gardens with a view of the castle. There's a bandstand and kids play area with outside cafe and seating at the west end and the beautiful flower click at the east end during summer months and of course the main shopping area of Princes St across the street. Unique gardens
A. W.
Princes Street would probably like to be known as a place of excellent shopping, and that is true to a certain extent, but look on one side you have the shops, on the other you have the view up to the castle, and what view of the castle would you have without this exceptional park feature. There's many a musical event takes place here and it's great for the kids and unlike a lot of modern Edinburgh it's free.
L. D.
Beautiful park. Nice experience with kids, there's a small play area, places to grab a bite and for kids to run around.
G. V.
Wasn't very impressed, they have a panda, but he wasn't out, we couldn't find some animals, good shop and staff.
N. F.
Being from New Zealand the Christmas Markets here felt like I was walking through a movie set! If this isn't one of the most festive places on earth I will eat my hat. I cannot recommend attending enough. Handcrafted Christmas decorations, stalls selling mulled wine and cider, and even an array of carnival rides for children. A truly magical experience.
R. M.
A beautiful place to relax or have a walk or stroll. Lots of shops nearby, along the High Street. A place one can have picnic with friends and family.
S. P.
Gorgeous. Because our visit was in the fall, lots of the annuals were fading but the perennial plantings and lawn were beautiful and it was very peaceful there.
J. R.
Beautiful park, they were doing some renovations so we didn't get to see all of it. But the spire was really beautiful to see. Loved the gothic design.
D. T.
Great place for a relaxing walk.
T. S.
Lovely, well tended public park with great views of Edinburgh Castle - see pics. Right in city centre. Convenient for time out from Royal Mile and Prices Street.
w. r.
Nice walk away from crowds.
L. F.
Princes Street Gardens made me fall in love with Edinburgh. The gardens and flowers are stunningly beautiful. There is an abundance of activities in the Gardens with lots to do for children and adults. It is fantastic that food and drink is served in the park. As a resident of Northern Ireland, this is something that I have never experienced at home. Would highly recommend to everyone to visit!
P. E.
Well maintained park with a good amount of benches.
Fantastic view of Edinburgh castle. Worth passing by!
L. S.
Nice park in the city centre! Very busy and you can hear the train station the entire time you're there. We found a place to hammock and enjoyed our time there!
K. M. K.
Great to stroll through, lots of great opportunities for outdoor events. Christmas Market is very enjoyable to visit outside of peak times.
S. C.
A splendid place to walk and snack after wandering New Town or The Royal Mile. A stop by the Scottish National Gallery is a must while here. Why not?? It's free.
a. a.

Lovely place to sit on a nice day and good for walking through. Has a park for children and an area to sit and eat & drink. Can be really steep in places for access so highly reccomend the steps at either end if unsteady on your feet

Beautiful place to sit and relax, no benches though can be busy sometimes, children love it, the slopes are attraction to kids to slide, climb and play.

Lovely park in the middle of the city. Great views

I don't think this is a place that needs any introduction. I love that it's slightly cut off from the main street, but still within easy reach of the train station and the shops along Princes Street itself. Lots of benches and places to stop for a rest after a busy day in the city! Gorgeous surroundings too and lots of wildlife. I think this is one of my favourite places ever!
T. W.
On a sunny day it's lovely; full of greenery and statues with a nice view of the castle and Edinburgh's Old Town. Very well upkept with plenty of events throughout the year.

The gardens were really busy, but everyone was well spaced out and everyone was chilling and relaxing!

Wonderful garden and park to spend an afternoon in, whether you want to go for a walk or sit in the sunshine. During the summer, lawn chairs are placed on the hillside below Edinburgh Castle. There are also some small hidden paths that walk along the cliff of the castle. The floral clock is worth a visit, and the park is a great place to stop for lunch or a have a picnic.

S. L.
Great place to go for a stroll right in the heart of the city, particularly at the minute as it's quiet.
A. K.
This is bacilli a bog park located in the heart of Edinbourgh right next to the princess street. The flowers in there are absoloutly beutifull in mid spting and it is defenetly worth a while to walk around check it out or maybe even sit down and admire the view. It is also just underneth the Edinbourgh castle and you could even walk up there from the park on a nice path way sorounded by great botanics. Also in the middle of the park there is a glorious fountin that is just beutifull to see as the rushing out water smashes itself on the peremiter of the fountain watering the sorunding plants with its gentle shower.
L. S.

W. C.
Such a gorgeous park, it helps that it was a sunny day,it's right in the city centre, we walked around, sat on benches, had a lovely picnic...
A. G.
A beautifully kept garden. The noise of the city traffic blends away into the noise coming from the railway lines. Mix this with the sounds of distant pipers playing on the wind and competing with the accordion chancer on Princes Street and there you have it. A peaceful, haven where you can lie back an soak up as much of the Edinburgh rain as your clothes can take, later to saunter back to the over-priced flop House you are calling home for the next few days. Ah, Edinburgh. You got to love it.
A. S.
